Synopsis of "Eva Luna," upcoming on Univision

Do we have any willing volunteers to recap for this novela?

Eva González travels to california with her sister and father. A driver causes an accident on the highway and kills Ismael, the girls father. The wounded Eva swears vengeance against the stranger. Later Eva meets Daniel - and Leonardo, who makes a bet with his friend that he can seduce her. Leonardo takes Eva to his house and gives her a job taking care of his sick father. Eva is unaware that the car that killed her father beloned to Daniel, though the driver was Leonardo. Despite the interference of many people who don't want to see them together, Daniel and Eva fall in love and decide to marry. But Leonardo realizes it was he who had killed Eva's father and tells the girl that the driver she wishes revenge on is her fiance.

I really need to be at the 7 pm time slot, given my work schedule. Once Dinero ends, I think I might take the alternate Wednesday night (Cathy only recaps every other week) if the team will have me.

Hope you get a great team for this though, Melinama. Looks like another sizzler.

From the synopsis it appears that the telenovela is not based on the novel of the same name by Isabel Allende. Or if so, it's been changed beyond recognition.

From a NY Daily News article:

"Eva Luna," the first Univision Studios production, is a collaboration with Venivision. It's described as a modern love story built around a successful female advertising executive. The telenovela stars Guy Ecker and Blanca Soto.

The show is one of the network's original offerings for next season, which includes four other telenovelas..."

I'm trying to find out if it's filmed in Miami or L.A. Venevision has filmed in Miami previously.

Someone has said it is a remake of Miamivela, "Aguamarina":

"On the heels of two tragedies - a hurricane which destroys her home and drives her family to the bustling city of Miami and the untimely death of her father there - Marina and her younger sister, Celeste, are left alone and impoverished in a strange city. Illiterate and a bit clumsy, Marina finds it nearly impossible to find a job and ends up working as a lowly maid in the house of the wealthy Calatraves family, who run a lucrative modeling agency. Marina's beauty catches the attention of the son of the house, Ricardo, and his friend, Diego, two handsome playboys who promptly lay bets on who will seduce her first. For Diego, who is engaged to Ricardo's high-fashion model sister, Verona, it's just another game. But a passionate kiss with Marina one steamy night affects him more than he thought possible and Diego finds himself falling in love. Unfortunately, the cunning Ricardo has no intention of losing their bet."

Cast and crew list here:

Shows Writing credits
Leonardo Padron (original idea)
Veronica Suarez (adaptation)

and filmed in SoCal, as a remake of Aguamarina; but other sources say Miami.

Trying to find a more complete cast list.

What? I'm so confused. This is a translation of the sinopsis I found on line but it isn't the same as the story you posted. What is going on here?

I saw Guy Ecker on "The Cristina Show" and I am pretty sure I heard him say that they filmed in Miami. I think he told Cristina how much he and his family loved Miami.

I could be wrong, though as they speak awfully fast on Cristina!!

I'm pretty sure I'll be watching this, so I can do some recapping if you need me!

It sounds interesting and I'm keen to see Guy Ecker. I've never seen him in anything and I keep hearing what a bit star he is. Also, being the first Univision production, as well as being an American production, piques my interest!

Bah, I don't want them to shoot in Miami! I was hoping for L.A. since I'm a native of L.A.

Melinama, I was posting the story it's based on, where I said:

"...Someone has said it is a remake of Miamivela, 'Aguamarina.'"

This was in response to novelera's comment about what it was based on.

Heard from someone who should know that it's filmed in Miami.

I watched the promo, and there is stock footage of downtown L.A. But the other exterior shots look like Miami to me.

The story may ostensibly take place in L.A., but be filmed in Miami. (Like the opposite of CSI: Miami.)

I will be watching. I can help sub if needed.

Novelera,

In a little blurb about Blanca Soto in November's "People en Español", it says clearly that the script has nothing whatever to do with Isabel Allende's novel of the same title:

"Y añade sobre el guión de esta trama que, ojo, no tiene nada que ver con el libro de la escritora Isabel Allende."

I can't wait till it starts and its translated in english. I wish I could be a translater but I don't know alot of spanish and Im so glad that you guys are willing to do it for us.

This is such a good novel I cannot stay away from watching it, I even record it and watch each episode five or six times, I love it
