I have never really paid much attention to the scene where Lety and Ed and the Cuartel are celebrating her birthday but I did today. The song that the Mariachi was playing was one that Pedro F. Sings on HQDNS. La aventurara.(SP?)

Alicia doing her little dance with the insense was funny. You could tell everyone was having a hard time keeping a straight face.

Not really enjoying all the Jazmin/Efrin Lola scenes, but did enjoy Edwardos time with Fernando.

The rest of this week should be really good. Can't wait.

Still love love love Eduardo. He should stay around forever and get together with Lety. Fernando will come around eventually, I know, but how much nicer would it be to be with someone who found you appealing from the start?

I really think Luigi wants to be in the perfume commercial himself.

I'm a little biased, though. I like Carlos de la Mota. I didn't see Destilando, but he didn't bug me in MEPS even though Santi was smitten with that useless blubberer Aurora. He was also in Tontas and was a lot of fun there.

Today's second episode was one of my favorites - I'm looking forward to seeing it again. A lot of it was fluff, but even the fluff was funny.

When I saw it originally, I was thinking the same thing as Julia - too bad Ed is already engaged, because he'd be perfect for Lety!

Here's hoping that Univision will cut out 20 hours of rehash footage and cuartel scenes, and replace them all with Eduardo scenes. (/wishful thinking)

Julie, I love your sum-up of the repetitive conversation in the recap. "...I don't think I could take it if I got defeated by a mermaid...The thing is, see, I'm kind of a shallow jackass..."

You really capture Fernando quite well.

Carlos de la Mota is a hunk. I remember when he was Meester James in Destilando and I looked him up, hooboy I came across some amazing modeling shots of him.

OK, enough drooling, time to watch Fea, read Julie's recaps and Paula's dialogues.

Pata, do you know if the song La Aventurera has anything to do with the eponymous film made in 1950? A few years ago SF MOMA had a film festival featuring important female figures in Mexican cinema and I went to see the movie. It was kind of campy by our standards but clearly a classic and very compelling. I highly recommend it. Carmen Salinas does a touring revue throughout Mexico with a modern take on the movie. It came to the U.S. and passed through San Jose (near where I live) a few years ago. I went to see it and apparently Niurka Marcos, who was supposed to have been one of the main characters, had it out with Carmen Salinas and was booted. Kind of ironic considering today's episode.

I loved the restaurant scene. What a fun way for Lety to spend the day. It was great to see her completely cut loose and have all the attention.

Slyvia, I never heard of the song until HQDNS. I didn't really pay attention to it in LFMB before so didn't realize it was the same song. So I don't really know anything about the tour. I am bad with names as well. Is Nikura the women who plays Paula M?

Oh I forgot to thank you for posting these in Paula's absance and I forgot to thank Julie as well for the recaps.

This site is making the rewatching of this novela so much fun. I look forward to the episodes, despite all the caurtel time, and then checking the recaps and comments.

I came in first time around about half way through and didn't know about Caray or CCS. There was so much I missed. I don't know what it is about this show but it really is addictive.

Pata I too came in mid point so am really seeing all the stuff thatbsetnup up what comes later. The cuarte, Efrin and Jaz drove me crazy the first time around and they have not improved with age. They are all strictly annoying filler as far as I am concerned.

Must admit the Eddie/Omar "fight" scene was hilarious. I love how Ed is so concerned about Fern being happy. It tells me that Fern probably wasn't a very happy child. I am coming to believe that neither was Omar.

Wow, what great episodes. Minus the Efrain/Lola/Jazmin stuff, which I FF>> through. This might stay on the DVR for awhile. Have I mentioned that I LOVE Eduardo?

I thought it was funny that when Jazmin tried to snuggle up against Ed, he gave her this total "ahem! Excuse me!" look, yet he had no problem with all the feas groping him. Plus, he's so generous and nonjudgmental and honest. And anyone who can draw everyone perfectly from memory has very clear vision and a sharp mind. Fernando would do well to listen to him.

I think I hurt myself laughing at Alicia's makeover and seduction attempt. Wow. Desperate or anything? There are some funny bloopers of that scene on YouTube.

And, to be totally shallow, did Luigi look hot when he was furious, or is it just me? I thought he really had it going on when he was in his office seething because his model and his assistant were M.I.A. I can respect Luigi. He may be a snob but he's one of the few people at Conceptos who work really hard.

Ed's girlfriend resembles Angelica Vale with great make-up. Is it her? If so, that explains why Fernando held the picture over his heart - she resembles Lety.

Marcia really is no fun at all. She's a humorless drag. No wonder Fernando doesn't love her.
I don't recall him expressing any guilt or remorse over using Marcia to become Pres. of Conceptos and lying about wanting to marry her.
On the other hand, he feels really bad about deceiving Lety.

I love Fernando's jealousy of Ed and Tomas Mora - he cannot control it!

Hint, Marcia: if you look around, and everyone except you is having a good time...YOU'RE the problem, not them. Seriously, could she be any more of a killjoy? Especially in the evening at Fernando's house. It's not like they were at the office and there was work to be done; it was time to have fun. And she yelled at them all to stop. What exactly did she want them to do? Sit quietly reading the stock prices in the newspaper?

Shoot, I had to miss today's episodes and a few last week but saw Friday's. I think Ed's girlfriend in the photo is not Angelica Vale. I think the gal in the photo resembles the actress who played Claudia in HQEDNS. I don't have a memory for names but I usually remember faces but, then, I could be so wrong.

I thought this episode absolutely rocked. I loved how Ed, who drew from memory, made everyone look fantastic. He really saw their beautiful sides and that's what stuck in his mind.

I've been trying to figure out who his girlfriend is in the photo. It would be a very clever twist if it were Angelica Vale as Anya suggests but I just couldn't tell.

Paula, if you check in do you know?

Julia, Marcia is what my sister and I call A Terminal Wet Blanket, i.e. no fun at all and no hope of it.

When you consider that Marcia's role model is Teresita no wonder she is the queen of wet blankets. That pouting bored look on her face while everyone else was acting the fool at fern's place said it all.

Remember an early scene when it was a Friday night and Fern wanted to go out with Marcia, listen to music, and have some fun? She refused to go, but told him to go, and made some remark about marriage not being about going out every night. He leaves, gets guilty, comes back, finds her taking a bubble bath and joins her...He should have broken off his engagement at that point. She is so controling and so uptight...

I love Lety in the scene at the restaurant. Given the fact that she has never had any friends, except for Tomas, and the only people in her life who really have made a fuss about her are her parents,Ed's party for her was so special. And she was aware of it, threw herself into it, enjoyed every second of it, and was grateful. Angelica's acting was great. Wouldn't it have been nice if Fern had thought to do something like that? Oh that Eduardo! His sensitivity to Lety was off the charts.

And at some point in the Ed / Restaurant sequence, someone, I believe Ed, said it was the birthday party Lety deserves.

Hippy Ed wasn’t in the original BLF. In fact, as Julie’s recap mentioned, it’s the first place the Mexican script diverges from the Colombian. People complain that LFMB was padded with extra episodes. The truth is, most of the extra came in blocks, like the four extra Hippy Ed caps. I think it’s a good addition – it gives us a more detailed picture of where Fernando stands at the moment. We’ll soon have a 30-cap insert that reveals more about the interactions between Fern and Lety. Much later we’ll have a 12? cap insert that reveals more about where Fern stands at that point. All this to say, some of the additional cap’s are valuable. And some aren’t!

Remember Fernando’s prime directive? Lety must not suffer! At lunch, Fernando tells Omar, “I don’t want to make Lety suffer.” He says it THREE times.

Back in Cap 70, we saw a power shift when Lety broke up with Fernando. She took over a lot of the control over the relationship, though Fernando still maintains a lot of the control over Lety herself. Now with Ed, we see a person Fernando cannot control at all. Fernando has the upper hand in his other relationships. He uses presidential power with employees, or intimidation and lies with Marcia, or wealth with women, or charm and lies with Lety. But with Ed, all those tools are ineffective. He runs through his whole battery of tools, and nothing works. Fern gets very uncomfortable because Ed takes him places he doesn’t want to go, and Fern can’t stop him.

At Fernando’s house. Fern told Marcia he wanted to be alone with Ed, so Marcia barged in with the whole gang. She doesn’t want Ed to influence Fernando, nor even have access to him. Remember, in the morning she didn’t want Ed to go to work with them. And when she gets to Fern’s house and he’s having too much fun with Ed, she feels compelled to stop that too. Not only because she hates Fern’s payaso side, but also because she’s working as hard as Omar to keep Ed away from Fernando.
