Teresa Wed 7/13/11 #96 The Gata Strikes Again - Gets Mariano Back; Aurora Plans Slumber Party
In this recap I combined some scenes for better flow.
In the continuation scene from our previous episode, we see Aida storming into Ruben's office and presenting him with Mayra's official demand for a divorce and informing him that she is now Mayra's attorney.
AURORA'S HOUSE
Mariano & Aurora are discussing business matters, but Aurora is preoccupied with thoughts of her mom's unexpected visit. Mariano says it is only normal that Aurora would want to talk with Vanessa to get answers about what happened. But Mariano asks her to listen with reservations because he doesn't want her to get hurt again. Aurora doesn't think that will happen. Mariano asks if she wants him to tag along when Aurora talks with her mom, and Aurora politely declines.
RUBEN'S OFFICE
Ruben tells Aida he wants to talk things over with Mayra, but she says from now on, he is only to speak to Aida (since she is now Mayra's divorce attorney), and to stop talking to her as if they are father and daugher. Ruben does his best to sweet talk Aida. He calls her his little princess, but Aida says "don't 'little princess' me you hair-plugged, slack-jawed, accountant!" (Ok, that was my embellisment). She then proceeds with one of her classic rants, referring to Esperanza as a "gata". I guess calling someone a "cat" in Mexico is an insult. (Seems a little rude to the cats, though.) She also says Ruben will have to take care of his other child, using HIS own money. She says Mayra should leave him without a single dollar.
GENO'S HOUSE
Mayra is venting to Geno about what a wretch Ruben is, and lamenting that she was fooled by him over and over again. Mayra thanks Geno for her support and says she is a good friend. Geno, ever the duplicitous "gata", is comforting Mayra and advising her to divorce Ruben and start a new life. Then Geno says, "Men do not change, Mayra. He who is unfaithful once, will always be."
Amen to that sister, we men are indeed truly awful.
MADRID
Quick cut to Europe shows Art holding shopping bags for Teresa (that guy is so whipped), and he gives Ruben a call to see how things are going. Ruben tells him that Mayra found out about his infidelity.
Later, Teresa calls her parents from the hotel for her long overdue check-in at home. They exchange pleasantries and Teresa tells them that everything is going well and that Arturo is winning her back little by little. She is happy and well pampered by Arturo...and then she turns to Arturo and gives him "that look".
***We interrupt this recap for a man-speak translation***
"that look" = "you might get laid tonight mister!"
GENO'S HOUSE
Geno & Mayra continue their chat, and Geno suggests that Mayra go to a spa or something, and maybe take Aida with her. Geno also suggests that Mayra doesn't really need money, that she should calm down and try to settle things with Ruben without a lawsuit, and also wants Mayra to reconsider having Aida take the case, so as to avoid pitting her against her father, which Mayra rebuffs, saying Aida offered to take the case and would fight for her intersts like no one else would. This scene really bothered me. While Mayra confides in Geno, Geno manipulates her friend. That's real cute Geno, real cute.
RESTAURANT
Speaking of cute, Aurora had apparently contacted Vanessa and arranged to meet her at a restaurant. Aurora is there and spots Vanessa approaching and they greet each other warmly. Aurora says it is weird to be sitting in front of her mom and that it is an emotional moment for her. So now Aurora wants to hear the whole story from Vanessa about why she left.
JUANA'S APARTMENT
Juana chats with Refugio about what a sweet guy Hector is -excuse me for a second- YAAAWWWN. As she talks with Refugio she is going through a box of cassette tapes. What they should have been talking about is how Juana needs to update her electronics.
RESTAURANT
Aurora and Vanessa continue their serious chick discussion about serious chick stuff. Vanessa says she was happy at first with Hector. I couldn't quite catch what she said here, maybe someone can help me out - I think she said that Hector started working after-hours like crazy. And then I think she said Hector started to suspect she was seeing somebody else and started to become very controlling and sufficating, and she just couldn't stand it anymore and left. Aurora says "my dad did that?" but Vanessa says she didn't want to talk about Hector. Aurora wants to hear more and doesn't think what she has heard so far justifies abandoning her only child. Vanessa says she saw an opportunity to escape but couldn't take Aurora with her on the "adventure". Vanessa was young and when she left she had no home or money and thought it would be worse for Aurora if she took her than if she left her with Hector.
So next I think they start talking about their feelings and other chick stuff, like hair and makeup and how they saw the cutest pair of shoes the other day. Sorry gang I had to FF>> through some of it to prevent complete testosterone depletion.
EUROPE
Quick-cut to Madrid, where Arturo instigates a mad dash to Paris. Once there, Teresa is very excited and wants to see everything. She stops and looks at Arturo and asks why he suddenly decided to bring her there. Arturo says, "Paris is the ideal city to fall in love, and here you'll end up falling in love with me, Teresa." Man-speak translation: "I have an idea on how I can get laid, let's go to Paris." Our Tiburoncita is intrigued.
MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Next, Mariano comes home thinking Ramon needed something only to find out that Ramon had let Aida into the apartment, and he thinks Mariano should talk with her. Mariano is clearly annoyed. Aida says not to be mad at his dad, that she asked Ramon to do this favor for her. Ramon excuses himself and leaves.
Aida apologizes about what she said and is contrite. She says she spoke on impulse in a moment of rage at seeing the fights that the pregnancy was causing between her parents. Mariano says he knows it is not easy, but she's got to learn to control her character. She promises to work on that, but needs Mariano's help and support.
Aida says it was terrible for her to know that Ruben was never satisfied with what he had and instead sought out a mistress. She believes he was motivated by his strong desire to have another child, and that it felt as if he didn't want Aida or her mom anymore. She swears she wants the baby to be saved because in the end, he is not to blame for anything.
Aida seemingly crys genuine tears of remorse, and Mariano who can't resist the vulnerable Aida, moves in to comfort her, and clutches her from behind.
Aida begs him not to leave her and to let her show him how much she really desires him, as she turns around and wraps her arms around his neck.
Softly whispering apologies to her former lover, she showers his face with light kisses on his cheek, his neck, his jawline, his cheek again, as she gradually makes her way to his lips. With each kiss growing in intensity, Mariano can no longer resist. He takes Aida in his arms and with unrestrained passion, plants her with a long, straight-on kiss, as the scene fades out.
AURORA'S HOUSE:
Hector is sitting on the couch finishing a phone call when Aurora arrives. Hector knows something is up and asks Aurora about it. Aurora drops the bomb on him that she saw her mom.
Hector is surprised and asks where this meeting occurred. Aurora tells him about Vanessa coming over to the house and begins to tell him the things Vanessa said at the Restaurant. Hector becomes defensive and says, "you think I'm the culprit?". Aurora tells him not to take it so hard and says she just wants the full story and she can handle it because she is an adult.
MARIANO'S APARTMENT
The scene returns to Mariano's apartment and....
Ohhhhhhhhhhh, NO HE DIDN'T!! NO!!! YES, HE DID!!!
MARIANO!! You DOG you!! YOU DID NOT JUST...with AIDA??!! But what about your feelings for AURORA??
Sweet little cutie-pie Aurora, who has loved you for all these years??!! AURORA whom you MANY TIMES said yourself is a GREAT woman!! What about how Aida treated Esperanza?? MARIANO, HOW COULD YOU???
Yeah OK, I'm completely kidding here. Of course he took Aida. There was never any doubt he was going to take Aida. He and Aurora are not officially a couple, therefore the following provision applies:
If she's hot, she's there, and she puts her tongue down your throat, you are required under section 32c of Man Law #17 to take her. Take her hard. Take her now.
He had to take Aida. It's the law. That, plus all men are disgusting pigs which pretty much explains all male behavior.
This has been a public service announcement.
Aida tells Mariano that she loves him, but doesn't expect him to reciprocate those words at the moment. That lucky S.O.B. then gets to continue making out with Margarita Magana.
AURORA'S HOUSE
Aurora now asks Hector that Vanessa be allowed to come stay at thier house for a few days. Hector is absolutely against this idea. Aurora says "please daddy" a bunch of times and says it is important that Vanessa spend some time there so she can be near her. She says for years she wanted her mom to be with her. Hector eventually gives in, but says he will stay in a hotel or with Hernan while Vanessa is there. Aurora, however, does not want him to do that. She wants all three of them there at the same time so they can all talk together and try to clear the air of rancor once and for all. Hector asks her not to push him too far. But Aurora is clearly Daddy's Little Girl and just has to say pretty please a few times and Hector finally concedes, again. YAWN.
PUSSY-CAT CLUB
Back at the Pussy-Cat Club (Mariano's Apartment), we see Aida, Queen de la Gatas, at the bottom of the stairs kissing Mariano goodbye, unaware that Juana is standing there.
As Aida leaves and I think Mariano says "do not forget to talk to Aurora" or maybe he said not to talk to her. I was unclear on that.
Juana, unaware of the applicable Man Law provisions, looks on with disapproving scorn.
Mariano says, "is something wrong?"
Juana gives a judgemental look to Mariano and says, "You're back with this girl after what she did to Esperanza? The child is not saved yet and you're there partying with a person like Aida?"
Mariano puts both hands in his pockets, turns to her and says, "Please Juana, don't insult Aida. I also think what Aida did was wrong, but I did not stop to think about how she sees things, how much the situation was effecting her."
Man-speak translation: "What are YOU looking at? She's hot, she was there, and she put her tongue down my throat."
Case closed Mariano, case closed.
GENO's HOUSE
Ruben is laying on the couch talking with Geno about the current state of affairs while actually having an affair with Geno. Ruben says it would be good if Mayra got out of town for a while. Geno tells him she tried to convince Mayra to do just that. Geno says she worries that something bad might happen to their baby, like Esperanza is just a temporary incubator. That Geno creeps me out.
ESPERANZA'S HOSPITAL ROOM
Johnny and Patty are visiting Esperanza. Johnny once again shows what a dumbass he is by talking to Esperanza's stomach.
Seriously, look at Johnny. Look at him. No, I mean it. Look.

HOSPITAL
Mariano walks in the hospital break room or a conference room and starts cooly talking with Aurora as if he didn't just grab Aida by the hair a few hours ago and ride her like there's no tomorrow. That's why I like Mariano.
Mariano thinks it is strange that Vanessa showed up so suddenly and it seems he suspects something isn't right. He also mentions that it will be weird having Hector and Vanessa at the house together, since Hector is dating Juana. Aurora however is not phased by it and thinks everything is great and that Vanessa just loves her and missed her, so that's why she came back. (Oh, please).
Hector and Hernan talk about the Vanessa situation and they seem to let on that there are some missing parts to the puzzle that we haven't heard about yet. Likewise, this is followed by more filler discussion between Aurora and Hector. She thanks Hector for his cooperation, albeit reluctant, in letting Vanessa come over to stay for a few days.
CACERES HOUSE
Ruben walks right into Mayra's house like its just another day in the neighborhood. He's probably wondering if there's any left-over pie from the other night.
We see Mayra walking slowly toward him, reminiscent of a cowboy getting set for an impending gunfight, spurs jingling with each step, tumbleweeds rolling in the background.
Mayra is so angry she can hardly speak.
Ruben tries to give her the sad puppy-dog "I'm-sorry-I-wet-the-carpet" look, but Mayra is having none of it. (Good for her). She demands he leave the house, surrender his keys and confirms she wants a divorce, and spews a lot of well deserved "woman scorned" verbal arrows.
HOSPITAL
Back at the hospital, Aida barges in, still beaming from last night, and wants to have a chat with Aurora. After some small talk about Aurora's mom and what not, guess what Aida starts meowing about - yep - you guessed it:
"whooooEEEE, that sure was some GREAT SEX I had with Mariano last night!! YOWZA!!! I mean WOW, know what I mean AURORA??"
Poor AURORA is SHELL-SHOCKED. Luckily, I am available, and will be giving her a call shortly.
MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Meanwhile, Mariano has a talk with his dad at his apartment. His dad gives the usual sensible advice about living for the moment and...YAAWWN...
CHAVEZ HOUSE
Johnny-the-Dumbass is asleep on the couch at the Chavez residence when Gema comes a knockin' with some delivery work for him. I smell trouble. Refugio has a cautionary tale for Johnny and tells him he has to stay out of trouble because he has a wife to think about.
RUBEN'S OFFICE
Ruben and Geno are at the office, both making phone calls and it seems they are trying to speed up contruction of the Turquoise Moon condos and possibly trying to raise some cash? I didn't quite catch it all. Ruben suggests Amadeo take an immediate vacation to slow down Mayra from learning more about the accounting books of the business.
PARIS
Teresa gives Amadeo a call and she says she learned that Ruben plans to wash his hands of the fraud at the Caceres business and blame it all on Amadeo. Teresa says she is calling Amadeo because what Ruben is doing just does not seem right, as her dorsal fin straightens and her shark smile is revealed. Teresa says she can save him if he does exactly what she says. It sounded like she said it is time to tell Mayra all about the fraud...
...and now you know what happened in Episode 96.

Johnny-the-Dumbass is asleep on the couch at the Chavez residence when Gema comes a knockin' with some delivery work for him. I smell trouble. Refugio has a cautionary tale for Johnny and tells him he has to stay out of trouble because he has a wife to think about.
RUBEN'S OFFICE
Ruben and Geno are at the office, both making phone calls and it seems they are trying to speed up contruction of the Turquoise Moon condos and possibly trying to raise some cash? I didn't quite catch it all. Ruben suggests Amadeo take an immediate vacation to slow down Mayra from learning more about the accounting books of the business.
PARIS
Teresa gives Amadeo a call and she says she learned that Ruben plans to wash his hands of the fraud at the Caceres business and blame it all on Amadeo. Teresa says she is calling Amadeo because what Ruben is doing just does not seem right, as her dorsal fin straightens and her shark smile is revealed. Teresa says she can save him if he does exactly what she says. It sounded like she said it is time to tell Mayra all about the fraud...
...and now you know what happened in Episode 96.

I could not stop laughing! This episode had me livid last night, but thanks to you I am now just laughing at it.
Like Sylvia I absolutely LOVE and appreciate your "man code" translations:

As to the essentials of the evening:

Uh, your mumsy just admitted that she didn't like that her husband was basically doing his job, wanted an adventure and so took off leaving her child behind and Aurora kinda sorta has a problem with that, and then pushes it off and asks Hector to have mumsy staying at the house??? WTH girl? Mumsy -Teresa circa 1980's?

Bravo Sharkbyte! Bravo!! A masterpeice of a first recap. You had me laughing out loud many times. :) Great pics too.
I was not shocked that Mariano did the deed with Aida, but I was shocked that Aurora fell for Vanessa's bs about Hector becoming some controlling, jealous monster (Hector? Really? Please!), inviting her to LIVE in the house she ditched, and twisting Hector's arm into staying. There is for sure more to the Vanessa story that both Hector and Hernan were implying, but it seems Hector feels it's too painful to share with Aurora and is willing to look like the bad guy to spare her the pain of the real truth. I say, DONT'T spare her. Rip the band aid off and let her grow up. Maybe this will help her grow a backbone in some other aspects of her life, like going after the man she wants- Mariano.
Love that Ter is urging Amadeo to reveal the fraud. Let the games begin!
From the previews it looks like Paris did the trick and Art does indeed get laid tonight. It must have been fun for Angelique B to be home in France. I wonder if she got time to visit family while they filmed there?

I've been seeing the cute ads for this week's installment of Pequenos Gigantes, where their mini version of Teresa, named Telesa, faces off with Angelique B. I looked online for it (since PG aired in Mexico months ago). Not only Angelique made a guest appearance in a Telesa skit, but also Aaron D. (Mariano) and Sabastian R. (Arturo). She is too much of a baby, what did Daddy do? Stifle her maturity? Aurora, enough all ready, put your big girl thong on and go after Mariano if that's what you want!!!

Sharkbyte, you are an ace at recapping. Loved the screencaps, snark, and the man law rules for Mariano's night of passion with Aida. So we know Mariano has mad skillz in the sack. I think I was actually screaming at Mariano. I suspect my neighbors don't like this show much...
Aeeeeda, ugh. Seducing hapless Mariano was bad enough, but what really twists my knickers is that she's starting to do that baby-talk thing she used to do to Paulo. Ice pick to the eardrums.
Poor Aurora. Obviously being abandoned by her mother left an enormous gaping hole that she's so desperate to fill, she willfully squashes the very obvious suspicions and even dispenses with her usual sensitivity and manners. I mean, it's one thing for her to want to get to know her mother, but why should Hector have to put up with having Vanessa around? Couldn't Aurora and Vanessa stay together in a hotel or rent an apartment or something for some bonding time? It seemed really unlike her to do that to her father.

And just one little question, want a judge's ruling here...Vanessa said Hector was suffocating her, in a social sense, not literally, like strangling, right?? That scared the heck out of me, my Spanish is still thin...So relieved that it didn't mean that.

Yes, she ended up with Hugo in Guapos. I don't think I've seen that actor in anything else. He did have rather large lips and a way of kissing that made me worry those poor girls might drown.
I didn't like Juana telling Teresa that Aida spent the night with Mariano/was kissing all over Mariano blah blah blah.
None of that matters, b/c Teresa chose to marry Arturo. Who and what Mariano does ceased being Teresa's business the moment she said "Acepto" to Arturo.
Why couldn't she go live with Vanessa? If she and Mariano got together, would she invite Teresa to come live with them to "clear the rancor?"

I think he's been doing theater mostly. I do remember he was in Pasión and mostly had scenes with William Levy that made his lips look natural.
Vivi, don't forget Sermeño Group, that was Paula's nickname for Mauricio. Constanza used to call him Guapo. I think Monita was the only one who didn't have a nickname for him.

I haven't seen that novela, but I like Margarita her scene. She is a really good actress in my opinion.

Thanks, Sharkbyte, for a hilarious recap. The pics are perfect as well. Mariano sleeping with Aida and Aurora turning into a needy child made this an angst filled episode for me so I appreciated all the big laughs.

Agh! I told myself I'd look away from the screen if Mar bedded Aeeeeda. But he's so cute, I caved in in a sec. In a way, I'm glad Aurora was insensitive/foolish about her dad's feelings, cause now I don't feel so bad about her missing out again on a chance with Mar. This Mar-Aida odd couple could be fun, for awhile. But she won't be able to change him. No way he's turning his back on the vecindad. Maybe he'll bring her down to his way of thinking. She spends more time in his vecindad than he does in hers.
