Triunfo del Amor #164 7/14/11 A triumph of jumping to conclusions

This just in: Jimena does know how to read. Shocker!

Gui thinks he's got Jimena by the, uh, ovaries?

Fer can't get anyone on the phone. Jerks.

Heri takes advantage of it being, in his words, a bad moment to pressure her, but hey, what the hell…"If you decide to stick with me, I need you to be 100% sure you'll be happy with me." He doesn't want her complaining later about separating her from her family. Love's a gamble Heri. And Vic's no Lady Luck.

Max shows Maria D the cell phone video footage. Ta-da! Proof that Burnie kidnapped the baby. Maria says only the cops can see this. Well, Max is looking forward to surprising Burnie.

Leonela is hanging out in the hallway at the hotel. She confesses she got fired from Televisa, and therefore doesn't have an early call. And all because of her damned alcoholism! Leo says she had it coming.

Vic wants Milagros to know that she's grateful to the 'hood for raising the ransom money. She also wants some advice from Mili, mom to mom.

Leonela says she hates and despises Gui, but at least with her job at the theater she can support herself. Doc's ears perk up when she mentions Othello. Leo waxes rhapsodic about how much one clings to something or someone when one thinks it's all one has in one's life. Doc advises her to reflect on that. Leo says loneliness is a bad counselor. She figures Doc has submerged himself in his work the way she has submerged herself in alcohol. And she doesn't think she'll get out without the hand of a friend. Or a friend with benefits.

Mili and Vic are going to talk about Maria.

Maria wants Max to spend the night, but that bed's too damn small. No, he just says he's got to go and soon they'll be together and no one can separate them.

Mili says Maria is a good kid with a good heart who's suffered enough already. Mili's sure at some point things will get straightened out between Maria and Vic. Vic feels guilty for being the fault of Maria's suffering. Mili says no one can teach you how to be a parent. You've just got to try, fail, send your kid to therapy for years…it all works out in the end.

Leo feels like Doc is the only one she can talk to, the only one who understands. Max is a grown man with his own problems and she doesn't want to unload on him. Doc tells her to rest up and tomorrow early, he'll help her find a solution to her problem. She kisses him excitedly and then apologizes for it. They take way too long to say goodbye.

Mili says she got married young, got pregnant, then her husband died young (he was a firefighter too), she devoted herself to her son. Now Juanjo's a grown man and she has to share him with Nathy. But it's cool, Nathy's like a daughter for her. And now, here she is, about to get married again. To Napo. Vic says he seems like a good person who's crazy about Mili. Mili says she accepted so she wouldn't be alone, but Juanjo will always be the most important thing in her life.

Nathy comes to visit Maria because Vic is over at Mili's house chatting. Maria gets dizzy and has to sit down. Probably because the boys are getting a sibling. Maria says no, it was different. Probably nerves.

Vic takes her leave, advising Mili that the 'hood peeps are invited to the runway show.

Now Nathy goes to visit Doc. She isn't going to give up on her degree. She's always thought women, even if they're wives and mothers, should be self-actualized. She pulls out her latest thesis revisions. She's added a couple of chapters.

Vic goes to visit PJP at work. He tells her that he went down to the registrar's office and Maria is now "Maria Desamparada Iturbide." Vic thanks him and figures Maria is happy. Vic laments that she hasn't been able to get close to Maria. PJP says she should trust in God's mercy that Maria will come around.

Os gives Fer a hard time for standing him up at dinner. Fer wants an update. Os says dinner was "fine" but he and Vic are just good friends. And also Heri showed up. Os isn't sure why. Fer is pissed that Heri screwed up her and Max's plans. Os tells her she and Max need to butt out. Fer wasn't trying to butt in…just give them a little push. Max says it's up to Vic and she'll make a decision when she's ready.

Doc takes Leo down to the director's office to convince him to re-hire Leo. She's a good actress, he hasn't reported her firing because he figures no one will watch. But he doesn't want to re-hire her either. Soooooo…..? He's just going to leave her out of the production and hope no one notices she's not there? Wow, this guy's brilliant! Leo begs for her job back. Doc says alcoholism is a sickness, but one that she can recover from with the proper treatment.

Juanjo has a surprise for Nathy. They're going shopping for baby stuff. Nathy is excited. They're going to fill the place up with kids. Please, please, please don't make me watch! Nathy announces giddily to Juanjo that Maria was dizzy yesterday. Juanjo jumps to the same wrong conclusion.

Leo swears to stay off the hooch. Doc promises, as a doc, that he'll take responsibility for Leo. She gets her job back, though the director looks like he's already regretting it.

Max shows Os the video. Just put it on You Tube, dude. It's easier. These two numbnuts decide not to tell the cops until after the runway show.

Maria gets a package…it's Alonso. Looking like crap. He doesn't want her to be sad. Uh, then don't put your deathly visage on screen telling her you're dead, you dumbass! She made him the happiest man in the world, he didn't really exist before he met her (*dying coughs*), he thought he'd be with her for the rest of his life, and it made him happy. He carries her and the baby in his dying heart. He always loved nature, so he put together a slideshow of all the pretty places he's visited. He wants her to thank Max for attempting to sacrifice himself for Alonso's happiness. He'll see her on the other side or some nonsense. (Mr. 5ft wants him to keel over already). He loves them all. Slideshow. Yeah, I'm supposed to think he had a camera on a timer everywhere they went to take pictures of the two of them together? Dude, if I promise to miss you, will you go away?

Nathy and Juanjo go baby shopping. That didn't come out right. You know what I mean. Juanjo invites her out for an ice cream. Offering a pregnant lady ice cream? Man, talk about a sure thing.

Os asks what Doc was doing at Televisa and the director fills him in. Os asks to show him something.

Fab and Luci walk in together. It's official. Finally. Too little, too late. Pip will get to work on the dress. Luci says there's no plans yet. Very sensible, says Vic. Pip says they've gotta get to work for tonight.

At Casa Burnsdown, Herself is very displeased with the designs. "Who made this?!" Jimena says Luciano doesn't have a clue about accessories, so she just whipped it up. Burnie says she's a mediocre model, not a designer. "Don't touch other people's stuff!" Rox says Jimena has tons of experience and so does she! She was a designer for Casa Victoria! And no wonder they went under, says Burnie.

Juanjo and Nathy return home with their purchases. The place is full of neighbors. Maria, Fer, and Jpito come over. Juanjo announces that Maria is preggers. She says she was dizzy yesterday, but that doesn't mean anything. Napo agrees--he's been dizzy before too. Mili says it will be Fer's turn too and there will be a ton of kids all over. Prof and Jarochas dancing FF>> Blessings for Fer and Maria.

Doc has been upgraded. He's not only the only doctor in the DF, he's the only doctor in all of Mexico. So Cruz has brought his dad to see him.

Mili fills us in on his symptoms: breathing trouble. Probably because of smoking. Not that he smokes.

Doc tells Cruz he doesn't want to say what's going on until the test results are in. Obviously it's something respiratory and Cruz needs to be patient. "So there's nothing to do?" Doc repeats they need to wait for test results.

Flurry of activity at Nueva Casa Vic. A Pippy pep talk. Maria adds a few rah-rah's. Go team!

Vic loves Armando's designs. Toni comes in to tell them they're missing the pep rally.

Os and the editing guy show the director the footage of Gui releasing the line.

Maria gets dizzy again and sits down. Everybody picks up on the whole "dizzy" thing…except Fab, who doesn't get it. Fer is excited about the dizziness and says they all think she's preggers. Pip says this means they'll be lucky. Because…she got lucky? Maria tells Pip to stow it! Fer says she's done a lot of reading and just because Maria's had one baby doesn't mean she's going to feel exactly the same with all of them. Max comes in and asks what's going on. A whole lotta speculation, that's what. Maria tells him that they're all jumping to conclusions. He gets all excited. ("Dumb Ass!" says Mr. 5ft. I concur) Hugs and congratulations, while Fer's feeling left out. Maybe it will turn out that Maria's getting sympathy pregnancy symptoms because it's actually Fer who's pregnant. She gets a call from Cruz and leaves.

Gui demands that someone bring his breakfast and the paper to his dressing room. The director wants to talk to Gui, who assumes he wants to tell him that the novela has been extended due to the popularity of his character. Gui, don't you even THINK the word "extension" around me! Nope, he's fired. Ha ha! "Me? Fired? Why?" The director starts to say he just saw…and then my DVR cuts off. No Sweet William Levy In a Kayak for me tonight!

Comments:
So, no kayak, but I am going to San Francisco tomorrow, just for the day. It's an early birthday present from Mr. 5ft. I'll take a trip with Mr. 5ft over William Levy's naked torso any day :D

Kat - Thanks for the snarky recrap. Smart girl to take a trip with Mr. 5ft. over WL's hot bod. You gotta dance with the one that brung you.

I caught part of this episode tonight. JuanJo looks like he's had some acting lessons, and that they 'took.'

Maria dizzy? Preggers again??

Lovely recap. My favorite line: "Doc has been upgraded. He's not only the only doctor in the DF, he's the only doctor in all of Mexico. "

Really, this man is tiresome. Most Know-it-Alls are.

Happy Birthday in advance!

The director said something about not wanting a killer on the payroll.

Again, for the nth time, why didn't the director call the police? What hasn't Max called the police about Bernarda yet? Surely there would be a discreet way to handle the arrest if Televisa is worried about scandal.

Bernarda deserves all the disgrace possible for her actions.

Nothing in Alonso's video about his Last Will and Testament. Forgive my pecuniary curiosity in this, but since he stalked Maria for so long she deserves to inherit everything.

Milagros needs to put Napo first. No wonder JuanJo is an overgrown child; she can't let go.

Thanks 5ft. Have a great trip and birthday. Wonderful recap.

My favorite moment last night was when Milagros and Victoria were talking and crying. Mili took a paper napkin from the table to wipe away a tear. It was such a real moment -- I could just see one of my friends or family members doing that. Victoria delicately wiped away her tear with her hand. Plllease.

Cruz' father at Dr. Voice's. What a good giggle. Given all the illness this family has endured, I guess it's good to have an all-purpose and omnipresent doc on hand.

I'm guessing not pregnant for Maria. Max made the ominous comment: Nothing can keep us apart. Something will keep them apart! More Illness? Dr. Voice will be needed again, one way or another.

One more plot thread to clear up. Fer has to get pregnant.

August 1 is the finale. Two weeks.

Aug 1st can't get here fast enough.

Tks 5ft for another funny one.

When they run out of the usual TN plots, they just repeat them & repeat them & repeat them. More hospital scenes coming, Cruz's dad & probably María & more mi hiiiijaaa.

Word verify - crees
No I can't

Doc Todo, who now is an intermediary, can run from rm to rm, from respiratory to the delivery rm. Finally, at least he's at work, which only occurs every 3rd wk.
Wish I had a Doc Todo, so I wouldn't have to pay all those co-pays. Has he done dentistry yet?

He can cure María the 3rd from last episode, the next to last is reserved for the punishment of the bad guys & the last for the wedding.

From decades of concealing everything from her family, Vic is spilling her guts to anyone that will listen. She & Millagros BFF's, yeah right.

Love it, Alonso dies on DVD, you can put that on you-tube also.

Happy Birthday Kat! Have fun in SF with Mr. 5 Foot. Thanks for giving us a stellar recap before heading out for b-day fun.

Did Maria forget her pants last night?

What's with everyone jumping to the preggers conclusion and telling everyone else that Maria is pregnant, when she herself says she doesn't know and doesn't think so? That was ridiculous. But isn't it a little late in the game to give Maria some tragic illness? Maybe Max can become a doctor in the last two episodes and cure her? Oh wait, that was the other tn they were in...

I was glad to see Nathi working on her thesis again and determined to have family AND career.

Happy Birthday and have a wonderful day in San Fran. How fun!!! You have such a good guy (and we all love his comments too!)

The dizzy-equals preggers ---agh!! I was pregnant with twins and never once got dizzy. This morning, my sinuses are killing me and the minute I stand up, the room goes round. Go figure, huh? I agree - no preggers for Maria, Too obvious. Meija wants something dramatic to bring Vic and maria together, and Vic has seen that hospital bed too many times, so it's Maria's turn.

And of course, the only doctor left on the face of the planet will save her. (Man, I love Cesar - but like everyone else in this TN - his character is awful.)

Gees, two more weeks - let's pray for a lot of soccer or something that cancels episodes so there's really not that much more to have to suffer thru. I just want to see how Burnie gets dealt with. The rest is too predictable and boring.

5ft
Thanks for the funny recap. I got up with a cold; it gave me a chuckle.

Concerning the dr., I can't stand to watch Vic being smooched. He may have a smooth voice, but he looks like manatee-lips when he kisses Vic.

Cindy

5ft another hilarious recap thank you.

Happy Birthday.

So here's a thought can Televisa do9 the same thing to Meh-jia for his next production hire him and then fired him without telling anyone? But we in the audience would notice if the novela turns out to be real good and intelligent that Meh-Jia probably got fired.

You do have to give it to Bernie sometimes her lines are really funny and the truth.

So no TDA tonight and next Thursday it's Premios de Juventud awards show or special.

Possibly also might be preempted by soccer games showing in the next two weeks.

So there is 176 episodes of this and the Gran Final from what i read is 2 hours.

Yep, Mr. 5ft is a keeper alright. You two must have carcajadas all the time.

If Casa Bernarda loses the event, & she will, heads will roll, literally.

Tough figuring out who is going to off X/Jimena, Bernarda o Guillermo?

Our brilliant boy is going to confront Bernarda instead of calling the cops, great move Max. Then, as we know, no one calls the cops.

Speaking of cops, I watched some of El Equipo last night. it has one of my favorites in it, Alberto Estrella, Mario from Pasión.
It also has Fabián Robles, Vladimir, MEPS. It's more like a US police drama, with a different story every wk. It was pretty good.

What happened to Mujeres Asesinas?

When Maria stood up and got dizzy, I literally gasped. I dont usually gasp at anything. Maybe she caught whatever Alonso had?

Since Linda died, it's been all about Luci as far as I'm concerned.

Felicidades 5ft, and GO GIANTS!

I got a feeling Maria's dizzy spells are not from being pregnant, but she may have picked up the fatal virus from Alonso.
Perhaps Dr Voice will become a researcher and find a cure in time.
Thanks for the wonderful recap

If María caught the illness from Alonso, isn't Max, Osito, JPito & everyone else that came in contact with them in danger? They need to quarantine most of DF, including Doc Todo.

I say Nati saves the day medically. My guess is that's why we had the scene with Dr Todo.

Thanks for a great recap! I loled from start to finish.

And maybe the cure for said fatal virus is in the two extra chapters of Nati's thesis, which idea she got from Dr. Todo!

Thanks 5ft. Enjoy your birthday and that trip with your special guy.

Thanks for the perfect recap kat. The recaps seem to be better than the novela itself. Cindy I agree with you on Dr voice. I hear more people talk about his virtures than not; however, I never cared for him. I never thought he was that good looking. I find him a little stocky and he walks stiff, his head turns in a stiff fashion and when he is kissing, it appears stiff and awkward; maybe like an elderly person? Yet readers comment that he is so handsome and they were so excited that he was coming on board. Don't understand.

Well, they let Alonso run rampant breathing his germs all over everyone without medical care so I'm gonna say Maria has the same rare disease Alonso had. Wasn't he always dizzy too?

Mili decorated Juanjo (and Nathy's) marital bed with matching soccer team beddressings. Considering Juanjo is all of 45 years old (or looks it), yeah I'd say she needs to let go.

5ft enjoy San Francisco, my home town which I love and miss every day. So beautiful, so much to see and do and divine food.

So we get the preggers jump from everyone. PJP would be absolutely thrilled to have his still unmarried daughter knocked up again by a feckless lay about who doesn't seem to have a real job, who lets her live in a hovel and apparently doesn't contribute much to supporting her or her baby, lands another baby on her that isn't even his, never mentions the word marriage and apparently doesn't know there is something on the market known as condoms. Shaking my head.

So we have a TN director who sees proof of attempted murder and doesn't call the cops, rolling my eyes, and then decides the solution to the problem is to just let the actor disappear from the show with no explanation, hoping people won't notice. If this is anywhere close to reality no wonder some novelas are so awful and full of plot holes. At least he did come to his senses and fired him.

Dr. Know it All certainly has his hands full coping with all the medical emergencies in the Country, researching fatal diseases, performing spinal surgery, being a cancer expert, providing psychological advice to alcoholics, promising to make sure Leo stays on the straight and narrow and in between times applying unrelenting pressure on a woman he wants for himself even if it costs her her family, What a guy - NOT!

So we get at least three episodes next week and who knows how few the week after until we are released from this interminable mess. It seems to me that Univision is taking a page from American TV and preempting its novelas at whim. It is also known as how to lose a viewing audience in 10 easy lessons. I will not be watching Fuerza (too predictable and similar to TdA) and am going to move to Telemundo where the novelas are shorter, smarter and more interesting and with some first rate acting.

Variopinta I too like Alberto Estrella - a lot. He is talented and very versatile and I first remember him back in Amor Gitano where he played a sadistic guy who ran a prison camp and just recently saw him playing an Angel in Nina de me Corazon. Actors like him do a ton of work and aren't hamstrung with type casting like the Colunga's and Levy's are.

He was also in in the film "Esmeralda de noche vienes" along with Maria Rojo y Ernesto Laguardia.

Happy Birthday, 5ft!

Well the good news is that Max finally gets his hands on documented evidence of Burnies heinous crime. The bad news is he's showing it to all his family and friends instead of RUNNING IT TO THE POLICE!!

ITA re: Dr. Voice. I've drunk the kool-aid on him--think he's great. BUT he did a bed scene in Llena de Amor and my jaw dropped at how big his gut was and how he had no problems flaunting it for the world to see. Stick with Oz, Vic. He has abs like WL.

Lastly, while I'm picking on Dr. Voice, what is UP with his office? Is he a pediatrician too? What's with the hot pink paint and the little Christmas tree ornament hearts hanging on the walls?! Isn't that a little unprofessional?

I would love to think Maria IS pregnant but did you hear that horror movie music they played every time she got dizzy? It's something bad....

Katy

As always, TOO FUNNY !!!

I agree about Dr. Voice, can't remember his real name. Don't like him at all in anything. Too unctuous. Please, I do NOT want to see him naked. Give me Colunga, who is not the best actor in the world, but is real easy on the eyes and doesn't ooze fake charm.

Kat, that was another great recap. Have a great time in SF for your birthday.

Enjoyed your take on the Alonso dying farewell video. Guess he's been busy with production since he disappeared into the clouds.

"Doc has been upgraded." LOL and perfect summary of his never-ending skilz.

Variopinta's right--TDA just keeps recycling plots. Feels like we're running in place and will never reach the finish line.

I thought I recognized Alberto Estrella (loved Mario) in the ads for El Equipo. May have to watch some.
La Paloma

"I would love to think Maria IS pregnant but did you hear that horror movie music they played every time she got dizzy? It's something bad...."

...ummm, Maria pregnant again WOULD be something really bad. She and Max are both total rocks-for-brains and they really shouldn't be passing that on. They got lucky with JPito; he seems pretty bright, but could they get that lucky again? In fact, do we know there wasn't another family in that village clinic who are now stuck with a tilted-head overmuscled baby who need special therapy to remember to blink and swallow?

La Fuerza del Destino is only supposed to be 100 episodes. The storyline has nothing to do with TDA. I don't know if I would fully recommend it, I thought the first month was brilliant and then they exhausted the plot and the pace became irregular but it is picking up in its last month.

Still, I prefer it to Zarattini's last one, "Sortilegio", which I didn't really care for all that much. And it is Shakespeare next to TDA.

Jarocha

Tks Jarocha.
I did like Sortilegio & looking forward to seeing Zepeda as a good guy for a change. I just hope it sticks to the 9PM time slot & not all over the place.

I didn't watch LDA; was Cesar Evora good or evil in that one?

I ask because historically he gets into shape if he's going to be the hero and lets himself get heavier to be a villain.

I love your post of this show.

I have a question, does anyone know what channel la cue no podia amar will be on. Its the station with the star inside a circle. It starts august 1 on monday, julian gil is in it.

thanks

UA--He was a good guy! And his love interest was a younger actress who was tan and toned which just made him look all the bigger! His suits really cover up a lot...

Katy

It is infuriating how quickly men can get in shape. I've seen Yáñez go up & down in size in the same novela.

FC was musclely in MEPS but very thin in STuD.

Laura Flores is actually just four years younger than César Évora. Did he have another love interest besides her in Llena?

Jarocha

Jarocha,

Is that who played "Netty"? If so, I am shocked!!! She looked so much younger than him to me! I am always amazed at all the tn knowledge on this blog! I learn so much!

Katy

La que no podía amar
is due to start in August on Televisa, I assume that is in Mexico & we will be about 2 mths behind.

Lots of familiar faces

After Eva Luna whacked Spandex Alicia's unborn child in the final episode I wouldn't be surprised to see another novela go there, but in this case they'd still have to officially declare Maria Desamparada embarazada first. Not that they couldn't, of course.

And thinking about it...I'm fuzzy on this, but as of now is Maria the only member of the combined Sandoval/Iturbide clan who hasn't been in the hospital for some reason?

Anon: Yeah, she played Netty. Laura takes good care of herself.

I think La Que No Podía Amar will get to the US in several months. It is the replacement of La Fuerza del Destino.

Jarocha

María was in the hospital at least once, having JPito. I'm sure I've forgotten some.
The only one I can think of that hasn't been in the hospital is Max, uh oh, he's next. Do we have time?

Aug 2, Aug 2, I think that's the date this mierda is over.

This is ridiculous did you see the scheduling for this for this week it looks like it's only going to be on Monday.

Tuesday it's not on for another show and Wednesday because of soccer.

Thursday the Premios show and Friday the Pequenos kiddie show.

When will this basura end? No Puede Ser! No Lo Sorporto!!!!!
