Caray, Caray!

REPRISE
Mariano sneaks into Teresa’s room for a quick visit. He tells her he can’t stay long because he doesn’t want to cause problems with Arturo. Teresa is concerned that Hector is going to induce a coma, but Mariano comforts her, assuring her he will lookout for her. In that case, she will agree to it.

SEVERAL DAYS LATER AT THE HOSPITAL
Arturo walks into Hector's office. Hector informs him that there is good news: “Finally, after so many days, the swelling has subsided, and we can operate on Teresa.” Arturo is pleased at this progress.

Later, Hector is talking with Dr. Dario and Mariano. He says preparations are underway to operate on Teresa and remove the second bullet. Mariano asks to be present at this important operation, because it involves Teresa. (I wanted to thump Mariano on the head when he said that.) Hector says, “Arturo does not want you near his wife, and I agree with him.” With that, Hector excuses himself to prep for surgery.


Dario and Mariano continue to talk. Dario tells him to relax, everything is going to be ok. Mariano says he will not rest easy until he sees her fully recovered. Dario reminds Mariano that Teresa’s husband has cared for her day and night, he obviously loves her and oh by the way, Teresa is a MARRIED woman. Mariano says, “If you were not my friend, I would think you are saying that just to annoy me.”

Dario shakes his head and says “I’m just trying to remind you that Teresa is a married woman, and although it hurts, you should forget it!” Mariano angrily gets up and raises his voice, “Yeah, as if it were that easy! You think I’m happy to love her when she loves another?!” Dario says he thinks it was a mistake to end things with Aida. I can kind of see Dario’s point. (Don’t get mad at me.) We know how awful Aida is, but Dario doesn’t, and he’s just looking at it like a typical Cro-Magnon: Aida’s got a nice butt and she-puts out. That’s a trump card that can make a man overlook a lot of bad behavior! Mariano replies, “What else could I do, Dario? My thing with her couldn’t continue.” Mariano says that he and Aida agreed to see each other from time to time as friends. Things have been tough on poor Aida because of her parents’ divorce and Aida’s involvement in it. Then Dario point blank asks him if there is a chance he’ll reconcile with Aida. (Manslation: “Come on man, look at her butt!”) But alas, even though Aida is hot, Mariano says there’s no chance.

Speaking of hot, they change the subject to Aurora. Dario says he hopes Mariano doesn’t regret leaving Aida the way he regrets not going after Aurora, and that it must hurt Mariano a little to see Aurora getting married to someone else. Mariano says he is happy for her. He says “I lost the opportunity with her a long time ago, and now Aurora is happy with Martin, and that’s what matters.” Just then his pants catch on fire.


MAYRA’S HOUSE
Mayra is sitting on the couch reading as Aida walks in carrying a large envelope and says, “Ok this is a copy of your divorce, your marriage certificate is revoked.”

Mayra finds it hard to believe her marriage to Ruben is finally over. Mayra says it comforts her that, although her marriage failed, she has such a wonderful daughter from it. (Are you puking yet?) Aida says from here on begins a new life for Mayra and she should leave the past behind and start making new plans. Mayra agrees and she’s going to start by leaving on a big trip around the world. Aida says that’s great, but too bad her good friend Geno (ha!) couldn’t go with her. Mayra says she got a funny feeling when Geno refused the invitation to go, but realized it must have been because she had to look after matters at home.


PRISON
Geno and Ruben are happily conversing as they look over Ruben’s divorce decree. Ruben says he is so glad to be free from Mayra; if only Mayra hadn’t discovered the fraud, they could have fled to another country. Ruben thanks Geno for her support and says anyone else would have left him. Ah, but Geno says she loves him. (She might even love him more than puke)

Ruben says he will be out of jail soon. Geno says next they’ll wait for that chick to have “their” son. Ruben says, “Yes, this baby will be yours and mine, Genoveve.” The only thing Ruben says he regrets is that Aida was on her mother’s side. Geno says to forget about it; it’s better to think of the wonderful future that awaits them when “their” child is born.


VECINDAD
While Hernan is helping Esperanza out of the car and into a wheelchair he bought for her, scumbag Fito is lurking, spying on them. Hernan asks if she’s ok. Esperanza says she’s going to be fine, especially because the doctor says everything is going to be fine with her little baby Rodrigo. As Hernan wheels her in, Fito watches and pulls out his cell phone to notify Geno of what’s happening.

HOSPITAL – MARIANO’S OFFICE
Aurora asks Mariano if he wanted to be the one to operate on Teresa. He says “Yes, I also wanted to be the one to marry her. If that had been so, she would not have received those bullets.” Aurora says yes, but the reality is she decided to marry Arturo and it is clear why: Arturo is her ideal man; she trusted that Teresa would eventually love him and she did. Mariano whines that he wishes one could fall in and out of love at will, then changes the subject to Aurora’s wedding.


As they are talking, Martin comes in and asks Mariano to be the best man at his wedding! Mariano does a “deer in the headlights” impersonation. Mariano gathers himself and stutters that he agrees. Martin says
Mariano will be responsible for the ring, for the partnership between he and Aurora, and he’ll be the one to say “What God has joined together let no man put asunder.” Aurora looks very uncomfortable with all of this.

Screechy Aida walks in and Aurora and Martin leave to the hallway. Aurora then irritably asks Martin why he asked Mariano to be the “padrino de lazo”, as the “sponsors” will be Arturo and Teresa.

PRISON
Geno says Fito told her that Esperanza is in the advanced stage of her pregnancy. Ruben wants to make sure step by step how things are going with “their” son, and to make sure Esperanza is well fed and with [medical] care. Geno says not to worry, he’ll be out on bail soon, but obviously the bond will be high. Ruben thanks her and says when he gets out he will pay her back in spades.

HOSPITAL WAITING AREA
Arturo, Luisa and Fernando are waiting for news about Teresa’s surgery. Arturo thanks Fernando for being by his side, giving his blood at a critical time, and helping to renegotiate his debts. Arturo also thanks him for the purchase of his house, as it would be tough for Teresa to recover somewhere other than her home.

MARIANO’S OFFICE
Aida tells Mariano she didn’t come by to do anything silly; she just wanted to wish Teresa well on her operation. Mariano is skeptical. Aida whines that Mariano and others don’t believe her when she says Teresa is bad, but in time she’ll be proven right. She says she feels bad that she hasn’t seen Mariano in several days and he confirms it is best that they keep their space. She asks that they make an exception for Aurora’s wedding day; on that day, she wants him there with her.

HOSPITAL WAITING AREA
Hector comes in and tells everyone that the operation went smoothly and he was able to take the bullet out of Teresa. Everyone is relieved.

THAT NIGHT AT THE BARRERA HOUSE
Fernando and Oriana are in the Barrera house. Oriana says she wanted to buy that house, but it was already sold. Fernando tells her Luisa didn’t want to lose the house so he bought it. Oriana is relieved because she wanted to have a house in Mexico for her grandchildren. Fernando corrects her and says he and Luisa are not going to live in the house. They are going to let Arturo and Teresa stay there.

Oriana is furious. She thinks it will be a waste because Teresa is not going to stay with Arturo and she probably won’t regain any movement. Fernando says her words are cruel. Luisa enters and asks if Oriana heard the news that things went well with Teresa’s surgery. Oriana says she is happy for Arturo (not Teresa) and now they can continue the wedding plans. Luisa wants to see if Teresa regains mobility. Oriana is dismissive and sternly snarls “hopefully that happens, but nothing prevents us from following through with the wedding plans.”

NEXT DAY AT HOSPITAL
Mariano is nervous about the testing that will be done on Teresa today to determine if she is regaining feeling in her extremities. Aurora promises to let him know as soon as she hears anything.


In Teresa’s hospital room, Arturo is giving encouragement to Teresa as Hector comes in to begin the testing. Hector starts with a brush and scrapes it across her foot. Teresa doesn’t appear to feel anything and is concerned.

Hector changes to a metal rod and pokes at Teresa’s foot, and asks if she feels anything. Suddenly, Teresa excitedly says “Yes! Yes! It’s a pinch, I felt it!”

Arturo is excited and asks what this means. Hector says, “It means we can be calm and happy, Teresa can regain movement.” He tells Teresa she must have patience, the recovery of movement will come slowly, and she’ll obviously need lots of rehab. Aurora is there and says it’s a miracle.


PRISON
Geno walks up to Ruben holding his release papers and says, “Now everything is ready, my love, you’re going to leave this horrible place!” Ruben is ecstatic as they happily embrace. Ruben the skank-rat has escaped his cage. I’m sure the boys in cell block A will miss their little bitch.

MAYRA’S HOUSE
Mayra has her suitcases packed and is ready to leave on her trip. She tells Aida that if she needs any support to contact Geno. They both talk about what a great friend Geno is and how she loves Aida like a daughter. They go on discussing chick stuff and how Mayra doesn’t want to be there when Ruben arrives and doesn’t want to be around when Esperanza’s baby is born. They say their mushy chick goodbyes as I take this opportunity to yawn and scratch. I’m a guy after all.


HOSPITAL
In Teresa’s room the doctors Alcazar continue telling Teresa about what to expect with the rehabilitation therapy and they stress it will take a while to regain strength as she was in bed for a month.


Mariano is about to text Aurora to ask for an update when she hurriedly comes running into his office to give him the news. She excitedly tells him, “Teresa reacted to stimuli, my dad says she WILL RECOVER!!”


Mariano is ECSTATIC, and jumps up and grabs Aurora in a tight hug and plants a kiss on her!! He kissed Aurora!! Well, it was pretty quick – over almost as soon as it started - but still, he kissed her.


They regain their composure and awkwardly apologize to each other. Aurora scurries out as Mariano is impacted by what just happened. Aurora is in the hallway, still stunned by the kiss and holding her hand to her lips.

She sees Martin and quickly embraces him. He asks her if something is wrong. She says, “No, I just needed to feel your embrace and feel close.” Hmmm

In Teresa’s room, her parents and Juana are there celebrating the good news. Hector comes in and Teresa asks when he and Juana are getting married. They explain that first they will wait for Aurora to get married. Teresa is surprised at that news. Aurora walks in and she confirms that she is going to marry Martin. Refugio and Armando excuse themselves to go get some rest.


GENO’S HOUSE
Well, look what the skank dragged in; it’s Ruben the Rat. Ruben says how much he appreciates taking a bath with hot water and sleeping on a clean mattress. Geno says they could just lie in bed all day if he wants. I have an idea, perhaps Ruben and Geno could share a delightful flea dip together. Go ahead guys, have a flea dip, it's on me. Check yourself for ticks while you’re at it. Skanks.

Ruben says he has something “important” he needs to take care of before his flea dip, and he scurries off.

HOSPITAL
In Teresa’s room, my girl Aurora is chatting with Teresa. Teresa asks if Aurora is really going to marry Martin without loving him. Aurora says, “Look who’s talking, because I have no doubt you married Arturo yet loved Mariano. Tell me Teresa, do you still love Mariano?” Teresa says, “You think if that were so, I would have done what I did for Arturo?”

Teresa wants to know what happened while she was unconscious; Arturo seems to really trust Hector these days. Aurora says Hector performed the operations and during all this time in the hospital, Arturo and Hector became friends.

Aurora then asks if Teresa still wants to be her “madrina de lazo” and Teresa says that yes, she does. However Aurora says she also asked Aida to be her madrina. Teresa is not happy about that. Teresa asks if Aurora thinks she will be recovered by the wedding date. Aurora thinks that with discipline and work, it is possible.

In Mariano’s office, Aida is there again and Mariano tells her the good news about Teresa. Aida is not all that excited as she imagines Mariano was, but says at least now Teresa won’t be causing more trouble. Aida’s phone rings and someone informs her that Ruben has been out of jail for hours. Aida is distraught because she assumed the first thing Ruben would do when he got out was to call her and ask for forgiveness, but that’s obviously not the case.

Mariano and Aida cuddle on the couch as Aida goes on about Ruben not caring. Mariano says the good news is that Mayra and Aida have grown closer. He says she should accept Mayra’s invitation to go on a trip with her. Aida says no, someone has to stay here and watch after their business, but also she stayed because she loves Mariano and hope that he sees that she’s repented. (Bitch, pahhleeeze)

VECINDAD
In Esperanza’s apartment, apparently Espe found out about Teresa’s situation and is chewing out Johnny for not telling her anything about it; after all, Teresa is her best friend. Johnny says not to be mad; everyone was just concerned about the baby’s health and they were just following the doctor’s advice.

Johnny leaves to go collect the rent and in typical vecindad style, he doesn’t close the door. As Esperanza gets settled for a nap, Ruben de la Skank sneaks in to apparently harass Espe. These folks seriously need to learn to close and LOCK THE DOOR.

Esperanza wakes up and is startled to see Ruben. Ruben says, “it seems you do not like my visit. Why do you look so scared?” Esperanza says, “Because you sent me to the hospital; I almost lost my son!”


Ruben shouts, “OUR son, Esperanza, this baby is OURS.” Then he creepily says, “You look so beautiful pregnant.” Esperanza snaps, “SHUT UP!” Ruben hisses, “Because of Mayra I missed the chance to see my son grow within you. Furthermore, it is a boy, as I’ve always wanted. Well, I came to talk to you to forgive me.”

Esperanza says, “I cannot forgive anything, I just never want to see you again. Not only are you a cheating man, but also a thief! How could you steal from your wife?” Ruben says, “Now you understand why I could not get a divorce?” (as if that makes it ok). Esperanza replies, “Yes, because you’re even worse than I expected. Weren’t you in jail? When did you get out? I don’t care – GET OUT OF HERE!”


Ruben argues that he’s not going to leave as they need to discuss visitation for his son, because the child is his. Espe says Ruben has no right to the child because he was about to kill him. Ruben tells her that he is the father and he doesn’t want the child to grow close to another man – she cannot have another partner (boyfriend). Espe begs to differ and plans to be with Hernan. Espe can’t believe she was foolish enough to have been with Ruben all those years. Espe says that just because the child is their son, she never wants to see him again, and yells at him to get out.

Ruben grabs her and says, “If you don’t let me see my son for good, then the law will force you, because you will soon get notice that I am filing a lawsuit and I WILL WIN.” Espe shouts for him to let go and GET OUT!!

As Ruben slithers out, Espe is in pain and grabs her stomach.

BARRERA HOUSE

Arturo meets with Fernando and thanks him for everything he has done to help him; and considers him a true brother. FF>>

CHAVES HOUSE
Johnny is collecting the rent at the Chaves home and they talk about how great it is that Teresa is getting better. FF>>

HOSPITAL
Aurora is holding a Bridezilla magazine. She and Teresa are talking about chick bridal stuff and I literally have to FF>> before I begin to puke up blood.


ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
In typical vecindad style, instead of calling the 911 equivalent, she is calling direct to Hernan. She gets his voice mail and tells him that she is bleeding, in pain, and is having very strong contractions. She wants him to call her back and tell her if she should go to the hospital. (Duh)

Just then, Johnny & Patty enter and Espe tells them what’s wrong. They are going to take her to the hospital.

MAYRA’S HOUSE
Ruben enters and tries to tell Aida that he just got out of jail. She tells him she knows he’s been out since morning. Aida tells him Mayra is gone. Ruben says he needed to talk to her about business but Aida says she has power of attorney. Again Aida laments about Mariano and how it was all Teresa’s fault that he broke up with her. Ruben of course thinks it’s good that Mariano is out of the picture, and now maybe someone worthy of Aida will come along. Aida continues to whine about Mariano. YYAAAWWNN.

Ruben admits that he has made mistakes but wants Aida’s forgiveness. They hug, and as they hold each other, Ruben has a very conniving, suspicious look on his face.


HOSPITAL
Back at Teresa’s hospital room, Aurora leaves for the day and Oriana slithers in right behind her. After some tense greetings Oriana says things look good for Teresa because she will not be bedridden. Teresa says, “I see that you don’t like my recovery.” Oriana says, “It would be hypocritical if I said otherwise.”

Teresa says, “I hope you do not have to regret treating me so bad.” Oriana replies, “Frankly I doubt it, Teresa, because, fortunately, my son has taken up his plans to marry Louise. By the way, when you can, go looking for a new place to live because your home, or rather Arturo’s home, you will not be able to return there!”
Teresa snaps, “Who says?”
Oriana sneers, “Yes, Teresa, Arturo had to sell your house, and Fernando bought it for Luisa!”

Our Tiburoncita is shaken at this news.
