Teresa Thu 8/11/11 #114 Teresa can't walk, but the shark can still circle
Teresa’s Hospital Room (THR): Odiana not so gently giving Tiburoncita the news that Fernie bought Teresa’s, excuse me, Arturo’s house, and T will have to find new, humbler digs. Ter rightly points out that Odiana is enjoying this, but she (T) will come out on top. O maliciously says that T ought to be a good little wifey and help her husband. Por supuesto, says T.
Vecindad: Fito and some dodgy guy are keeping tabs on Espe when she emerges with Johnny and THP helping her into a car to go to the hospital.
THR: Odiana gloats some more about Ter being pobre. Ter is all high road and pro-Art. But she does point out that Arturo’s bankruptcy will affect the ‘boda del ano’. Odiana has already taken measures (tomar medidas) about that, though. She leaves a sincerely sad T alone in the room. I believe violins are actually playing as we fade out.
Chez Roots: Geno is lounging around her house in, oh yes, a red fringe belted shawl as a top. MFB calls ( “hola Sra Guapa” –he obviously can’t see the shawltop) and tells her the chamaquito (chamaco=kid; I think I read once that it originally meant little devil) is on the way. Geno says it’s too early, and the ever-industrious MFB points out that Sra Guapa still has to pay even if the baby dies.
THR: Aurora visits T, who is upset over O’s visit. then has a little pity party over her current situation in life (understandable). Aurora agrees she is having a rough patch (mala racha), but reminds her she is lucky to have so many people around who love her and she will recover. T agrees and says she HAS to because she’s got a lot of things to do.
Chez Barrera: Luisa is selling her apartment to raise money for Arturo. Arturo protests, but seriously why does Luisa need an apartment? She never lived there. They are pretending like she used the office, but I doubt it. Fernie is trying to stay out of the sibling battle, when his dear sweet mother comes in looking for Artie. Odiana talks boda. Fernie grew up partly in Spain, so she wants to have the civil wedding in Mexico but the religious ceremony in Spain. By the look on Luisa’s face, she forgot to run her plan by the bride.
Arturo tells O that the bride’s family can in no way afford the kind of wedding she has in mind. Fernie says he will pay; Art thinks it’s his duty, and Luisa says that she doesn’t want anything special, just Ferns. Awww. But Odes insists that for people of their “level”, the wedding can’t be anything less than super fancy pants fabuloso. Art can just pay her back when he’d back on his feet.
Chez Caceres: Ruben and Aida talk shop. He stands to lose his notario business, and he doesn’t know who denounced him to the notario authorities. Aida needs him to tell her hot to run her mom’s businesses. They are interrupted by a call from Sra Guapa with the news for pops-to-be Rubes. She wants him to get his butt over to the hospital and make sure that baby is ok.
Rubes sets up a meeting with Aida for the manana and totally BS’s her about how he all wants is to make good with her, and win her love back. She is kind of buying it and just tells him that he better stay away from that gata del vecindad and forget that his hijo varon (boy child) ever existed. ‘Already forgotten’ he says, as, to borrow from SharkByte’s excellent recap, the flames from his pants singe the Bigote.
THR: Aurora has Tiny Ter all bundled in a wheelchair for an outing when she is called away on doctor biz. As soon as she leaves, TT innocently asks the nurse to take her to see that nice doctor who saved her life, “I think they said his name was Dr. Sanchez.” Smoooooooth.
Chez Juana: Butberto is at Juana’s taking out her drawers. And no, that is not some euphemism the kids are using these days (though maybe it should be!), he is just literally taking the drawers out of her dresser. He finds the ginormous card he made her ages ago and realizes that she still has the hots for him.
Mariano’s office: The nurse wheels Ter into this mysterious Dr. Sanchez’ office and skedaddles. T tells Mariano that she owes him her life. He is all ‘aw, shucks. Ain’t nothing but a doctor thang.’ She says she still owes him one. They look into each others’ eyes, and what is this? A new song? Que the hell? No ‘a donde vamos a parar’? Should viewerville take this as a sign of a new stage in their relationship? Enquiring minds want to know.
Chez Juana: Juana enters the scene of drawer carnage that is her bedroom and wants to know what Buts is up to. “?Me hacer brujeria?” (brujeria=witchcraft, so I assume she means is he putting some sort of spell on her/her things) Buts explains that he is supposed to pack a suitcase for Espe, who, by the by, is having the baby.
Blah blah blah, Buts is too incompetent to get the stuff together, so Juana does it; Buts shows Juana that he found the card/proof of her love. She says it was just misplaced (traspapelado) and forgotten. But she is clearly not happy when he doesn’t give it back.
Teresa and Mariano continue their heartfelt conversation. She is going to work hard to recover. He hopes that this experience has made her value what is most important in life. Ter’s all “you are preaching to the choir, man”. She explains that she was all ready to divorce Art, but once Mar made it clear that it wasn’t going to happen with him, she resigned herself to making it work with Art. And she did come to “querer” him. But of course nothing like what she felt for Mariano. Not that it matters now (ya no importa) what she feels for Art or what she felt for Mar…..
Hector is stoked about the coming Espebaby; Hernan is nervous because of the high risk/month premature aspect. They decide Mariano needs to know what’s going on (claro!)
Ter is explains the “ya no importa” to Mariano—now that Art has lost everything, she just can’t leave him. He needs her help more than ever. Mariano says that’s the last thing he would have expected from her. She says that she really has changed, then Mar gets the Espe call and has to go. Ter tells him to send her love and keep her abreast of the Espebaby situation. After he leaves, she has a totally non-shark smile on her face, and viewerville is left wondering if Tiburoncita has indeed changed. I’ll have to look up what angelfish is in Spanish, because that is the look she’s going for here.
Mariano’s office: Aida fills the void left after Mar’s departure. She totally rubs Ter’s nose in being paralyzed. Classy. Ter is just so happy to be able to spar with Aida, you can see the joy in her eyes as she points out that her continued therapy will necessitate being close to Mariano. Aida says T should have stayed paralyzed so that she wouldn’t cause more harm. “Me basta con las palabras” (words are enough for me) says T and drops the Babybomb on Aida. [My husband noticed that she said ‘el hijo esta por nacer’, presumably meaning ‘about to be born’, or ‘in the process of being born’. Just an interesting construction that is new to us.]
Aida is none too pleased with the news. Ter realizes that Aida and Mar must have broken up and sees the bright side for Aida—less chance of running into her hermanito. Aida pretends not to care about the escuincle (brat), but Ter needles her about how he’s quite the emotional threat, as Rubes will certainly love him more. The nurse comes in to swoop TT back to her room. Aida stomps out and we get a screenful of the true Tiburonsonrisa. And oh is Tiburoncita happy to be back in action. No more of this heartfelt crap.
Espe’s Hospital Room (EHR): Mariano joins Hernan at Espe’s bedside and she mentions Rubes’ visit causing her current state. The fellas press her for more information as she screams in pain. Seriously dudes, you need to step off right now; girlfriend is in the middle of something else right now and can’t talk, ok?
Hospital lobby: Aida bitches to Aurora about the Babybomb and Tiburoncita rolls by. She magnanimously grants Aurora leave to stay with Aida and rolls off. Aida vents about ese rrrrrrrrrrrrrata and sobs about her dad and her worries about the hijo varon.
Ter rolls into Rubes and the nurse oddly leaves them alone. They shoot the breeze. “wow, you’re paralyzed.” “wow, I thought you were jail”. Ahhhh, good times. They reassure each other ever so sincerely of their mutual joy in each other’s good fortune to be on the mend/out of jail. Classic shark vs shark sarcasm showdown:
“how unfortunate that SOMEONE denounced you and now you might lose your notario license.” point Tiburoncita
“Isn’t it nice that Aida is here too to see her hermanito? Ooops, did you not want to see her?” point Tiburoncita
Ter “worries” that some of Rubes’ friends will leave him because of his rough times, and he “laments” that SOME friends wouldn’t even take his case. “ohhh, rubes, you know Art and I totally adore you, he was just in a tight spot then” “ahh yes, and now you, my friends, have also fallen in disgrace—turns out I’m not the only one who doesn’t have any money” point Bigote
Overall match goes to Tiburoncita, but she’s a little snippy about losing the last point.
Hallway: MFB pretends to be a sick cousin of Espe to get her room number.
Lobby: Juana and Buts arrive and run into Johnny and THP. Discussion of Espebaby situation—high risk, 8 months along. Johnny mentions that Juana is in good with the hospital director and gets the stinkeye from Buts.
Everyone’s worried about the baby, and Juana gets sad remembering her own lost baby. Buts tries to comfort her, and Mariano arrives to tell them that they are trying to delay the birth, so the baby can fully develop (desarrollar), but it all depends on Espe’s contractions.
Juana tells THP her sad babyloss story. Buts tries to cheer Juana up and takes her to see Teresa.
Other Lobby: Rubes is on the phone with Sra Guapa de la Red Fringe and gives her the Babyscoop. Mariano sees him, tells him he’s nothing but trouble for Espe, and tries to throw him out. El Bigote protests:
“Oh yeah, says who?”
“Says me! (and security)”
“well I’m gonna get my dad, er, Hector”
“you can’t, he’s in surgery. Besides, he’s on my side, so nyah.”
“then I’m gonna sue your ass”
“fine”
“fine”
EHR: Looks like they aren’t having much luck on the baby-stopping front—Espe is contracting all over the place.
Mar arrives and so now the baby can come. Hernan goes to the foot of the bed to ‘deliver’ the baby, despite the fact that Espe’s Ob-Gyn is already there. El bebe is out, but Espe hears no cries. Porque no llora?!!
THR: Aurora lights into Ter about dropping the Babybomb on Aida. Ter basically says Aida started it. Which is technically true. Aurora also chastises her for going to see Mariano.
Ter explains that she just wanted to say thanks, and she just waited until Arturo was gone out of respect for her husband. Aurora ain’t buying it—she knows Ter too well. Ter’s near-death experience has made Aurora realize that life is too short to hold back. And she’s not taking crap from anyone anymore. They are interrupted by the arrival of Juana and Buts to talk about Espebaby.
Juana frets about the baby, but Ter has other things on her mind. She get rid of Buts so that she can chastise Juana for slumming it with him. Think of what the good doctor Hector would say! Juana just didn’t want to be alone.
Chez Barrera: Arturo is heading back to the hospital, but first Fernie tells him about buying the house. Art is surprised and tells him it should be for Fernie and Luisa, since Art won’t make his money back any time soon. Odiana steps in to say, we’ll work it all out, but at least the casa is still in the family. O then admits that, even though she promised to try to play nice with Teresa, she did something tactless with her…..Art and viewerville are dubious.
EHR: Everything’s been tidied up. Hernan reassures Espe that the baby is fine. The whole ‘crying baby’ thing is just in the movies. However……his lungs (pulmones) aren’t fully developed. Basically fine, but needs to be in an incubator for a couple weeks. Hernan is very happy about the babe and tells Espe to just rest. Seems odd that he won’t let Espe at least go see the baby. I mean, I know she needs to rest, but come on, it’s her baby.
Lobby: Johnny and THP anxiously await babynews. Mar provides it.
Hallway: Rubes is taking up his hospital rights case with Hector, but is interrupted by Aeeeeeeeda in full screech at her dad.
T HR: Ter tells Buts to leave Juana alone. Buts seems to think that Juana is only with Hector to please Ter, who only wants Juana with Hector because he is rico. Ter calmly explains that Juana might lust for Buts, but she didn’t want his lame butts even before el doctor came along. And now Hector is here to offer her everything—love, money, una hija (Aurora). Buts says Juana could have her own kids with him. “and what would you support them with?” [I totally thought the stunning ending was going to be Tiburoncita revealing Juana’s BigSecret to Buts, but no.]
Buts supposes that Ter wants Juana to do just what she did with Mariano—throw away love for money. When Ter protests that she loves her husband, Buts loudly says “you love him so much that you slept with Mariano the day before the wedding and promised to run away with him.” And folks, it wouldn’t be a telenovela if the door weren’t ajar for that little revelation. Any guesses on who was hovering outside? Ten points to Slytherin, cuz it was Odiana.

Excellent recap!
Geno is just a scary sight with that red belted fringe poncho and again those boots. (What is up with everyone wearing boots with dresses? Not many can carry off the look...sorry I'm playing fashion police here.)
I enjoyed all the back and forth with Tere, looks like she is on the mend and healing quite well, she has enough energy to go at it with Odiana (love the name)then a visit with Mar, then getting chastised by Aurora, then Buts, and Rubigote....whew...that wore me out and I didn't just get shot in the head and elsewhere. (forgot where the other bullet went)

I'm not surprised they took the baby immediately to the incubator. My twins were 6 weeks early, and they did the same. I saw them briefly, but no holding, etc. and right to ICU. I got to go later and visit them there. Now let's hope Hector has solved that special unti coverage problem. So help me, if a baby ICU is left unattended...
Mama O is making my skin crawl. Why does noone stand up to this woman? Louisa is so cowed, and Fer should get a spine with her and say NO, nothing fancy, ket your society friends find something else to do. She dictates a big bash...but Art has to "pay her back"??? I can't imagine Fito being intelligent enough to realize that kidnapping an infant from an incubator isn't going to be easy and furthermore that it is foolhardy. Since I can't recall any past example of an infant dying during such a plotline, this could be a first if Fito gets that far.
I hope Hernan finds Rubigote lurking in the corridors and gives him what for. This guy deserves a good kick in the bazanzas... and then some. In fact, Mariano, Hernan, and Hector could get a restraining order because of the medical crises he has caused for Esperanza.
Aida didn't deserve a cad like this for a father. The idea that she had to feel like a consolation prize (or worse) because she was a girl is horrible. I know that most men who want children want sons and most of them want first-borns to be sons, but even Rodrigo Montes de Oca was too practical to get bent out of shape over this. And during the Victorian age, no less. If Rubigote hadn't caused Esperanza's medical crises he would be a buffoon.
Finally, Tiburonmama will be in top form tonight; this woman must live in a permanent state of high dudgeon. There is premium chum in the water now for this Carcharodon carcharias.

Emarie: Yep, twenty years old and juniors in college. They both had a little problem with eating and lung capacity for a few days after being born. Now one is a cross country/10,000 meter track runner and the other is a Voice performance major. Nothing wrong with those lungs now!

Hernan should have gotten restraining orders against the entire Caceres family because all of them have stormed down to the hospital to harass Esperanza and cause her medical harm.
At least Mayra is like "Eh, don't care anymore. Have a nice life. Peace."

I loved your take on the Teresa and Ruben confrontation and she was a bit snippy losing that last point wasn't she?
Boy did i love it watching her give it back to Aeeeeeeeeeda and just rubbing her face in it. Sucks doesn't it when someone is being nasty and cruel too you about your insecurities and makes fun of you over them huh?
You still don't get it if Teresa is mala and wait until Aurora discovers the truth about her. What does that make you and all of the stunts and what you have said throughout the years to Teresa?

My harshest criticism Aurora get over yourself the only reason you laid into Teresa like that because you can't move on from Mariano you're settling for a man you really don't love or for that matter respect. Because if you did you wouldn't keep going back to conversations with Mariano or overhearing him talk to others.When did you ever light into Aeeeeeeeeeeeeda with all that she has pulled and Teresa was right once again Aeeeeeeeeeda started it and she has the right to defend herself against that monster. Just as she also has the right to go and thank Mariano for saving her life. You my dear really overreacted because of your feelings for Mariano.
It's up to Mariano to tell Teresa he is going to move on and he doesn't want her to keep seeking him out. This is not your place to do this even though you're a good friend to Mariano as long as you continue to stand on the sidelines wringing your hands and not telling Mariano you still love him and want to be with him shut up.
Daisynjay ita i so hate Oriana Odiosa why in the world is this woman at the hospital skulking outside Teresa's room like this? Doesn't she have a wedding of the century tom planned? This is Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeda's future but somehow i can't quite see her getting married. Unless the guy is deaf of course.
Anyway Oriana if she exposes Teresa she will be hurting both Arturo but most importantly Luisa her future daughter in law. once again we have a character who is selfish and only thinks about what it wants.All she is doing is opening Pandora's Box and we all know our little sharkette likes payback.Yes Daisynjay she will be making a lot of people miserable.

My harshest criticism Aurora get over yourself the only reason you laid into Teresa like that because you can't move on from Mariano you're settling for a man you really don't love or for that matter respect. Because if you did you wouldn't keep going back to conversations with Mariano or overhearing him talk to others.When did you ever light into Aeeeeeeeeeeeeda with all that she has pulled and Teresa was right once again Aeeeeeeeeeda started it and she has the right to defend herself against that monster. Just as she also has the right to go and thank Mariano for saving her life. You my dear really overreacted because of your feelings for Mariano.
It's up to Mariano to tell Teresa he is going to move on and he doesn't want her to keep seeking him out. This is Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeda's future but somehow i can't quite see her getting married. Unless the guy is deaf of course.

Teresa is recovering from gunshot wounds that nearly paralyzed her; she's hardly a threat to seduce Fernando or "leave Arturo" at this point. In light of that, Oriana's actions seem a bit much.

Loved the recap Kristoise. Question. When did Buttberto find out about Mariano and Teresa sleeping together the night before the wedding? I don't recall Mariano telling him. He did tell his friend at the hospital when PatPal overheard.
Now that Oriana eavesdropped and got that tidbit how many guesses that she will tell Arturo?

ITA w/you all regarding Mama Shark. She is just pushing Ter to take her son and turn him against his mother.
It will be interesting to see if Geno/Rube/the bandit actually do snatch the baby IN INTENSIVE CARE. As UA noted, this could cause the child's death and I hope the writers don't surprise us with that turn.

I always enjoy when Ruben and Teresa spar. They are cut from the same cloth and have a similar style in the way they fight- cold, manipulative, and dirty. Good times.

Sorry Vivi but you're wrong Aurora did indeed know that it was Aeeeeeeeeeeeeda who told Teresa when she just woke up about being paralyzed. She learned this from Juana when they were both with Hector discussing Teresa's determination to get up and walk again.
No i don't feel she has ever lit into Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeda like she did Teresa last night. When she did confront Aeeeeeeeeeeeda about her latest stunt she wasn't as vocal in her telling her off. Once again Aurora comes off as a hypocrite to me.
Teresa had every right to say what she did to Aeeeeeeeeeeeda she doesn't tell Aurora what she told Teresa again about wishing she stays paralyzed> Her woe is me she's giving me a hard time about my father having a son soon i can't deal with it act. Please spare me i have no sympathy for her at all.
It would have been best if Aurora had dumped both as friends because all she is like a ping pong ball between the two of them trying to talk some sense into both of them into stopping this once and for all. Blusumurai i just love you because I too strongly feel that our good girl aurora is a hypocrite. I am so glad that I am not the only one that sees that aurora is not the best friend that she claims to be to teresa. I'm not saying that she's as malicious as teresa but she's definitely not perfect. Seeing how mariano is gaga over teresa is one of the reasons why she never made a move on him, afraid getting rejected, not because she cared about teresa's feelings and that is probably why teresa worked so hard to keep them apart and the other reason is that she has no balls. I used to like her until she slept with martin without being in love with him made me realize that she's just as teresa, well teresa is a little bit more mala than her, ok very mala but i love my girl. At least Teresa gave her virginity away to someone that she loved. I actually like aida better than aurora. she's the only one that keeps it real. call her every name in the book, envious,hysterical, she also has bad fashion sense, but a hypocrite she is not.

you are right anonymous! who does aurora think she is demanding answers, reprimanding teresa when she was so nice and soft spoken to aida and aida started the whole thing? To actually wake up and hear that you are going to be bed ridden for the rest of your life is pretty harsh, i guess not in aurora's book. It just hurts to know that arturo's heart is going to be crushed once he knows the truth about mariano and teresa spending the night. I truly hope they can work things out because i really like those two together. mariano needs to be with aurora because he loves her and she accepts him as he is. he's just not sure of what he feels for her. they are so similar in a lot of ways especially denying themselves true happiness but i doubt he will love anyone the way that he loved teresa.
