Cuando Me Enamoro #98 Friday 9/2/11 Meet the Parents
Roberta strolls through the pueblo and wastes no time in getting under Jero's skin when he crosses her path. Berta's bubble bursts when Doctora Marina appears and plants a kiss on Jero. Of course, Berta and Tatas recognize each other. Berta is unsettled that Doctora and Jero are an item.
The feds close in on Blanca! Unless she takes a swim in the fountain, she is trapped. The police cuff her and those silver bracelets definitely become Blanca. She tries to bribe the cops but nothing doing. "Maritza del Rio" is under arrest. (Victory!)
Chema pays Adriana a visit. They share a significant glance but are interrupted by a call from Matias. The cops caught Blanca! That means Honorio will be out of jail soon! Chema scoops Adri up into a celebratory hug and they unexpectedly kiss. Say what you will about Chema but he is one good kisser.
Gonzo, Regi, Constanza, and Ines have gotten the good news about Blanca. They all hope Blanca gets what's coming to her. Regina hopes the same will happen to Pepa. Gonzo vows to protect Regina from that vile woman. Coni drops a causal hint that Pepa might be closer to home than they think. After all, no one ever expected Blanca to have been such a crook. Coni wonders to herself how she can prove that Pepa is Fina and how to tell Regina about it. (Just out with it! Between what she knows and what Regina knows, the two of them could probably figure it all out in an hour).
Jero sits down with Marina in her office. Marina understands that Jero is still hung up on Nata. Marina is an adult and he will only be using her if she lets him. Which she isn't going to. It's a risk but it's one that she is ready to take. Marina wants to see what happens if she opens up to love. Jero recalls the harsh words he had for Nata when he found her at Augie's ranch. He gives in and kisses Marina.
Chema is upset at having kissed Adriana. He sputters about his relationship with Coni and the fact that Adri is her step-daughter. Adri wonders if Chema really loves Coni or just admires her. He has to have noticed that Coni still loves Honorio, right? Chema's head is swimming. The maid returns from the store and Chema decides it's time to leave. Adriana ponders the kiss with a wistful look.
Agustin and Nata have a chat in his office. Nata married Jero because she was in love but she still wants the permission from the church before she gets hitched to Augie. He understands. He wants to share everything he has and everything he is with Nata. She is going to be his wife and the mother of his children. Nata thinks about Jero having never mentioned children. She wonders how she could have been so blind.
Marina and Jero canoodle some more. She is happy that there are no secrets between them. Smooches.
Berta talks to herself in public while waiting for Jero to get out of the Doc's office. She wants to grill him about it.
Carlos has coffee with his parents. He is eager to show them the vineyard and the fields. His madre makes a snotty comment about Matilde but Carlos does not notice. Poor guy is so excited he can't see the storm brewing.
Manuela and Karina set up the dinning room. Matilde can't wait to become a Señora! She is so, so happy and all they hacienda ladies are happy for her. The anvil just got a little heavier.
Jero and Marina are still necking in her office. Berta flashes a smug smile as she eavesdrops in the hallway. She pounces on Marina after Jero leaves and asks to have a chat.
Nata finds Berta's cell phone and is surprised to see that Fina is calling. She doesn't answer it. Fina never, ever called Nata after she was whisked away from the D.F. Nata won't let Fina make her miserable anymore. (Good girl.)
Berta doesn't beat around the bush; she gets straight to the threats. Marina had better not tell Jero about Berta's miscarriage. Marina does not respond well to threats. Her job is separate from her personal life. Berta warns Marina that Jero is a wretch. Berta's baby was his and he left her. Marina doesn't care. She knows what she is doing. Jero is with her now. The past doesn't matter.
Jero stands on the cliffs and moons over Nata. The ocean crashing against the rocks makes for some gorgeous scenery.
Jero, Matilde, and Carlos welcome Carlos's parents to La Bonita. Mati is nervous but Jero tells her to relax because she is queen for the night.
Nata and Augie confront Berta about her disappearing act that afternoon. Berta could care less about the rules. She spills the beans about seeing Jero and Marina tonguing in town. Nata is discomfited.
Marina arrives for dinner at the hacienda. Jero introduces her to Carlos and their guests. Carlos's Padre formally asks Jero for Matilde's hand. Jero laughs but the honor belongs to Lazaro, not to him.
Carlos's madre (I think is her name is Elvira. I'm tempted to just call her Snotty McRichBitch but maybe that's just me) is grossed out that Matilde is Lazaro's sister and not Jero's. Not only does Madre refuse to shake Lazaro's hand, she says there is no way her son will marry a servant. Because they're yucky and have cooties and stuff.
Berta tries to press the Jero issue at dinner but Nata won't take the bait. They are divorced and free to do whatever (or whoever) they want. Berta snaps that she knows Nata still cares about Jero no matter what she says. Augie agrees with Berta.
Matilde leaves the living room in tears. Carlos jumps to his feet. He will not let anyone offend Mati, let alone his own parents! Lazaro calmly says that Matilde is a sweet and humble girl. She is as good as or better than any city girl. Carlos's padre blames their reaction on the shock of it. Laz understands but tells them that money does not determine a person's worth. Matilde has a big heart and they didn't give her a chance to show them. (Lazaro is still my hero. Where can I get one like him, hmm?)
Carlos fumes at his mother but she claims to be the victim. If Carlos had warned them that Mati was poor, none of this would have happened. Oh, go play in traffic with your soulmate Scrooge McDuck.
Lazaro comforts Matilde as she sobs. She is too poor for his parents! Carlos joins them and tells Mati not to worry. Carlos will send his family away so he can formally ask for her hand on his own. Mati and Laz both agree that they fiesta mood has been ruined for the day. Carlos loves her no matter what. He tries to kiss her cheek but she moves away.
Jero and Marina regroup in his study. What a lousy way to start the night. Marina suggests they leave for dinner elsewhere now that the party is a bust.
At the end of Mass, Alfonsina approaches Karina. Alfi did not show up at Doc's funeral because she was afraid of offending Kari. Alfi begs Kari to forgive her for fooling around with Doc. Kari says she forgives Afli but the trust between them has been broken for good. There is no way they can be amigas again. Alfi promises she will earn Kari's trust and forgiveness.
Carlos tells his parents to get lost if they don't approve of Matilde. His madre spouts on about there being too much difference in class between Carlos and Matilde for it to work out. Carlos says the only thing getting in the way of his happiness is the two of them. He will marry Mati whether they like it or not.
Manuela and Laz have calmed Mati down. Laz knows Carlos was trying to do the best by Mati. Matilde cries that she is still cursed; that's why everything turned out so horribly. Laz hugs Mati and tells her to stop saying such things. Carlos and Mati love each other and that is what counts.
Padre Severino sees Jero give Marina a goodbye kiss. He's hopping mad because Jero is still married in the eyes of the church. Marina knows Padre doesn't approve but she asks him to respect her regardless. She has been waiting for years to find real love and now that she has it, she isn't going to mess it up. Padre wrings his hands.
Nata lies awake at night and tries to convince herself that she does not love Jero anymore. She pulls on her boots and heads outside.
Carlos knocks on Matilde's door. Unfortunately, I didn't catch what was said. I think Carlos asked Mati to come out and she refused.
Nata is in the middle of a late-night horseback ride when Jero drives up in his car. "Qué haces aquí?" she asks Jero.
Avances: These just get more and more vague don't they? The announcer blah blahs about it being a "crucial Fall". I caught a few little clips of Blanca in jail and Augie with Nata. Jero says he has something he needs to get off his chest.

Unfortunately (and have yet to figure out), I can see the video, but get no audio.
In my frustration last night, I placed 'Univision' in the search box and came up with Univision Pacifico and Univision Este!
I could not believe my luck.
Univision Pacifico was running CME live! I did not figure out how to get the audio on this until the very end, but was able to see 'Teresa' live in its entirety and with audio.
So...it looks like there is a way to see the capitulos as they are in real time without having to resort to Daily Motion (which has yanked just about all of them except the very first capitulos) and/or Rocotv.com (where I have been seeing 'Teresa'.
I just tried JustinTV again this evening and got Univision Este (Florida) live, but no Univision Pacifico life.
The good news is that it seems there is a way we can see the capitulos live on JustinTV.
A HUGE shout out to Cap'n Sylvia for providing this link for me. I keep my fingers crossed that it continues to work.
Thought I would pass this along as I know Amy was worried about seeing the capitulos and daisynjay will be leaving soon and will miss the capitulos.
Keep your fingers crossed, gang!!!
Susanita
I've tried Justin.tv but my computer just hates that website. It has a meltdown every time. Might have to give Univision Pacifico a try. They certainly are not making it easy on us. If there *were* a site that legally posted the episodes, I'd be using it daily. Till then, it's scavenging time!
And you know what I wondered after I wrote the recap? Why doesn't Constanza just show Regina a picture of Fina? Regina recognizes Pepa every time she's seen her! That would prove Coni right in no time flat. But that would be far too easy, wouldn't it? ;)
Amy
Adri's plans to distract Chema from Constanza has yielded interesting results, what a kiss.
Roberta seems to have the upper hand at Cruz de Amor even Auggie was supdued, I guess her threats are working...for now. But she sure delights in tormenting both Nata and Auggie by mentioning Jero.
Poor Mati I was disgusted by her future MIL, what a snobby classless bitch. I wish Carlos had done more to stick up for her.
**After Carlos peeked in he asked her to step out into the kitchen so they could talk.
I'm going on vacay in a couple of weeks, and my hometown cable company doesn't get Univision. I'm going to be in major CME withdrawals. I won't have access to a computer, but from the comments lately, it looks like it would be hard to find the eps anyway.
Robey
Robey - no, not a Hoosier. Born and raised in the Chicago area, now live in Ohio, but I went to Purdue ( or Unidue Perversity as we had affectionately called it in my day many moons ago.)
As for our friends at the vineyard...If Carlos' mother's name is Elvira - well, how appropo. Anyone remember Elvira the Witch -TV horror movie host extraordinaire? Yeah this b**** is a blood sucker too. And I guess we see who wears the pants in that family...dear old dad was no help at all, and basically went right along with it. Don't let the door hit you both on the way out...
I too would like to order one Laz to go! Loved the way he stayed so composed, showing said b**** what class is really like. I'll bet Mati decides to not stay engaged to Carlos - something nags at me on that.
(No spoiler...I mean it's not like we can watch future episodes----AAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!)Susanita, good luck on your episode quest. Think I'll just be out of luck next week. Four days without CME or Teresa - these meetings better be worth it.
Anyone else think Adri was sort of kinda liking that kiss? I mean, the guy knows how to do it right..might as well enjoy. But what has she gotten herself into?
I don't think we've seen the end of Blanca. I think our resident sprinter will still wreak havoc, not sure how, but too early to just lock her away.
Someone please buy Nata a new robe! Flannel slipper socks, scarves and a flimsy white satiny thingee... Nice fleece number might be better on these midnight rides.
Well...we all had that 'feeling' that things were just going too well for Carlos and Matilde, but they really gave us a witch in that Elvira mother/person. She literally crushed Mati and was so horrible...simply horrible to the increasingly handsome Laz. It actually upset me that she did not want to shake his hand! Good grief, woman, do you think you are germ free yourself?!
I'm interested in hearing Dr. Carlos take on Dr. Tatariffic (how in the world does one do any serious work with dresses so short, she has to make sure she puts either a pillow or a coat on her lap to cover herself?!). So, Dr. Carlos...do you think Tatariffic will eventually see the light and realise that Jero is not for her or will she do whatever she can to keep Nata and Jero apart?
Absolutely agree with you, Amy that if Stanza would just show Regina a foto of the ugly Fina...everything would fall into place!
The story that is really interesting me right now is the story we have not heard: who is in the heck is Batty Blanca anyway?!
Gracias, Amy!!!
Susanita
Susanita
Yeah -- little Adriana has put herself in a pickle hasn't she. She seemed to really like that kiss. I really like her & Matias together. I fear we are in for a shakeup there though.
Was everyone else as surprised as I was when Blanca got nabbed? I was sure that she would be out there wreaking havoc on everyone for a long time to come.
Can Nata come home now???
Dr. Tatas professional ethics won't allow her to share medical info about Roberta -- but they didn't stop her from sharing info about Dr. Deadsperm.
Carlos am I missing something here about the ethics rules? --and congrats on Baylor.
Güera
I still like the Adri/Matias pairing. We still have to deal with Chema's mysterious fainting or whatever they were episodes, so I am not so sure what plans the writers have for him.
If there is no Adri/Matias pairing, what would happen do our dear Matias? I do love that character (just wish he had a better hair do).
Susanita
A pox on Carlos' parents, especially his mom. However, how much better was it for her to hit Mati in the face with it in front of God and everybody, instead of following my advice of taking Matilde aside, telling her that she is a very pretty, very nice girl, but she is simply not suitable, not good enough for her son? This direct boorish sort of behavior is easy to combat.
Next, I look for them to approach Mati and Laz with an offer of money to give up their son. I hope they do.
Susanita,
"...how in the world does one do any serious work with dresses so short..."
I'm glad you asked. I was making rounds last Wed. and saw Dr. Tatariffic (excellent)... well... could have been her twin, only younger and more beautiful (if you can believe that)... standing (maybe a key here) at the nurses station. She seemed to be functioning rather well. Kelli (my nurse) drug me away before I could study her more carefully and was not amused when I complained, "But I think she's in my show!" I'm sure I'll get to see her again (wonder what her specialty is?)so I'll get back to you.
I think that she already realizes that Jerry is not for her, but since he's available and she wants him... then she'll take him...
Güera,
""...am I missing something here about the ethics rules?"
First of all, there is no established Dr./pt. relationship (she doesn't even know Deadsperm). However, those are confidential medical records that came into her hands when she stepped into his practice. Therefore I think she is bound by Dr./pt confidentiality, although others might disagree. Even so, she would not be violating any medical ethical considerations by privately sharing this information with Kari.
As a TN viewer, I heartily agree with her decision and won't lose any sleep over it.
I think that the next anvil might be for Gitana because Renata has requested that a vet take a look at her. That in itself is not so unusual... the fact that we know about it is disturbing.
daisynjay,
"Someone please buy Nata a new robe!"
Yes. How about our favorite flannel pear robe that has appeared in so many previous TNs?
Carlos
I like your ethics, Dr. Carlos! Perhaps you should consider being an expert consultant for the TN (not joking, either).
It's probably good that Elvira, the Witch Mother, made her ugly move in front of God and everyone. You are correct, Dr. Carlos, this type of boorish behaviour can easily be countered.
What a fool that mother is.
Susanita
I, for one, am disappointed we have to wait until martes to see what Jero says to Renata. She does need to change her riding robe and I am rooting for that pear one that sounds like a must-see.
Adriana seemed surprised by what a great kisser Chema is. Let's hope his dizzy spells are not caused by something contagious!
I am still confused over the whole Blanca thing. What's the point? There has to be something more than just causing trouble between Hon and Con and the empressa. The writers have been so good with their story lines, I can't see this being it with Blanca. Maybe she'll team up with Fina down the road? Hopefully they will be in the same jail cell!
Begrudgingly I am enjoying Jero and Dr. Buttercupboobs together. It just seems easy. I really wouldn't be disappointed if they fell in love, but only if Renata will dump Auggie. Hey - maybe Adri will fall for Chema and Matias will be available to Renata again.
Does anyone know the song for Jero and Marina? I am loving it! I also really really liked her black dress with the colored shoulder staps.
Saving the worst for last.... Carlos' mom. How did he end up so sweet with a mama like that? The way she acted was reprehensible. If she would have been mean to Mati in private (a variation as to what our Carlos advised), but nice to her in public, that would have been just as bad, but then we could have others thinking Mati is paranoid.
Literally 100 years ago, my great-grandmother's sister dated a guy that my great-great grandmother could not stand. Rather than do the public humiliation thing she invited him for every dinner and family function until my great-great aunt was sick of him and called it off herself. That has gone down in our family history as one of the finest mothering moments.
Rosemary la Otra
I thought the scene between Kari and Alfonsina was a nice illustration of the difference between "forgiveness" and "reconciliation".
Kari forgave. A healthy way to free herself of anger, resentment and being tied to the past.
Kari did not reconcile. Alfonsina has shown herself to be a very untrustworthy friend (and wife). So Kari wisely chooses not to reconcile for now. Perhaps future behavior will change her mind. Or not. But Kari IS free of the toxic damage of unforgiveness.
Dr. Carlos...you definitely need to find out more about your short-skirted Dr. Beautiful. If she's prettier than our Dr. Tata's she's a raving beauty indeed.
Carlos - nice opening line to your new, prettier than Marina friend: "Didn't I see you in a telenovela?" I think most of us would love to be mistaken for one of those beauties. I look just like Renata except I am 30 years older, 30 pounds heavier, blonde with a much flatter butt, in need of her under-eye makeup and my robe is pink.
RLO
Dr. Carlos- I want photographic evidence of Dr. Leggy. Although, that might get you in some sexual harassment trouble...
As for our Dr. Tatas, she knows what she's getting herself into with Jero. I like her, but I can't feel too bad for her when our main couple inevitably gets back together. I too give her a pass on handing over the info on Doc Dead Sperm since he wasn't her patient. Anyone could have run across that old file lost behind the cabinet. Even Kari herself, if she had wanted to clean the office before the new doc came to town. But Marina is in a bind with Berta. She's a good person, so I know she does not like being part of any deception. But giving the truth to Jero and Nata takes one more hurdle out of the way of their being together. That would not be in Marina's favor.
As for the two surprises of the night: I'm so glad BSC Blanca is finally caught. And that kiss! Woohoo! I love Matias and Adri, but just as with Carlos and Mati, it's too soon for their happily ever after. Adri definitely liked that kiss from Chema. Things are going to get complicated.
I think justin.tv uses Adobe Flash player which can definitely upset some computers, especially laptops. Best to stay away if that's the case.
Susanita, our own Kris (Gancho a las dedos) used to do her recaps while watching the episodes live on her laptop. I was always amazed that she was able to pull it off.
Dr. Buttercup Boobs, LOL!!! Too funny.
Last year I went to see a doctor (Orthopedics and Sports Medicine) about a sore shoulder. When she entered the room I was shocked, she looked like she had just stepped out of one of our telenovelas. She was even in high heels! I was her last appt. of the day. She squeezed me in and stayed late, waiting for X-rays and everything. She was amazing; so fresh, warm and unhurried I couldn't even tell she had been working all day.
Carlos, good point about Mrs. Nastiness being up front about her disapproval of Mati. It's much easier to deal with and now everybody knows what a witch she is.
I don't have much more to add as you commenters have covered the telenovela territory quite thoroughly. I'll just say I enjoyed the episode and absolutely love Amy's recap. Great title too. I knew it would be a winner.
Cap'n: I am thinking that Adobe Flash player has played a part in my ongoing headache re access to the TN online! In fact, I just did an update of that Player and am wondering if this isn't part of the problem. however, my Sony VAIO laptop is really good about letting me know the issues. As much as I love technology, there are days it frustrates me to NO end! LOL!
Susanita
Dr. C. your NurseDivine story is too funny. I am mostly happy that we have a smart, beautiful and ethical Dr. Tatas. I like the obvious respect between her and Renata. There will be no cat fight here between the ladies, just Augie and Jero will rip at each other until the end of the story.
I liked Marina's line to Jero about how he couldn't use her unless she let herself be used. She seems to have her head about her. She knows full well that he is still hung up on Nata. She seems to indicate that her heart has been closed to love for a long time -- so maybe she is right to go on in to what may be a disastrous love because allowing herself to be vulnerable will allow her to be open to this love if it lasts or another if it doesn't. She seems to have her eyes open.
I kept wondering why Carlos' obviously snobby mother didn't seem to mind his choice of a bride. It never occured to me that she thought that Jero was the brother.
JudyB, I loved your story about Mark May & Lou Holz.
R la Otra -- I can also relate to your description of how you resemble Nata. LOL I suspect that there are many of us out here who can relate in the same way.
Güera
YOu can count on me checking out our wonderful recappers to keep me in the loop. What would we do without you??? Thanks in advance...
RLO
you sound like exactly my type... of course you'd have to lose the pink robe.
Carlos
I understand your confusion. I made my handle different from my name because there was already an Amy (blonde with an awesome hat) in the sidebar. Call me whatever you like, as long as I'm not called late to CME!
Amy
Amy - Sorry for the confusion. Yes, the other Amy does have a cool hat but I bet she doesn't have your wit! And I've gotta say... you look so sweet in your picture, not like someone who uses the awesome phrase "tonguing in town". lol I love your Fina/Pepa vs. Amy/Flores de Azul comparison.
I really honestly think I am having withdrawals tonight. I guess I could go enjoy a lovely evening outside, especially since I've spent all summer indoors waiting for Regina to see a picture of Fina. Okay... this is it. I am shutting down the computer.
G'night, All!
RLO
Carlos, I think the pear robe definitely needs to make an appearance in CME. We'll keep our eyes open for a sighting.
Just caught up on a week's worth of recaps. What a great read! Even though I saw the episodes over 2 months ago, these recaps bring it all back in living color. On my satellite TV feed here on the west coast, CME comes on at 4pm so I almost always miss it.
In the previous episode, I think Regina saw Cata blessing her but was yelling " no, no!" because she knew her mother was saying goodbye, and she didn't want her to die. She kept misinterpreting what her mother was saying about Mrs. Gonzo (Fina) - I think she thought her mother was still upset about Gonzo being married, not that there was anything else to know about Fina. Very frustrating scene exactly as planned by the writers. Poor Cata finally realizes that she has been completely wrong, especially about her judgement of Tony, and she can't tell her daughter anything. Finally has to just bless her to indicate her forgiveness and regret. Wow!
I guess Berta has not learned a thing! Amazing after what a horrid cruel mess her mother has made of her life. Oh well!
Audrey
Let us know if that works for you or not.
MBC we don't post those full episodes on Daily Motion if that is what you mean. Sometimes we have had luck doing a search on "CMESDET Capitulo __". You can also try searching on justin.tv to see if they carry any of the episodes. Good luck.
