Abismo de pasión #22 4/10/12 Beware El Beso De La Mujer Araña
Labels: abismo
The whole plotline with Tonia and that "little snot" of a son could just disappear. Any time on that is a waste of time. I know there will be a tie-in with GAB and secrets, but for now it bores me to tears.
But compensating, ah....the best moment of the night: Padre's affectionate head-slap to Gael's head. CAN NOT GET ENOUGH OF THESE TWO!
Love Ramona! The voice of truth...
Did feel a bit sorry for Flo last night. From her point of view, she's engaged to someone and then finds herself in a "web" of intrigue and her fiance pining after a girl she never knew existed before. Up to this point, she hasn't done anything dastardly ( of course we know she probably will). And Dam just keeps jerking her chain in a way, if we're honest about his behaviour too.
Watching the previews, if Dam goes so far as to wear the amulet knowing what he symbolizes, he should have canned his engagement and had the party cancelled. He has to know he doesn't want to marry Flo then.
But doesn't Elisa look the picture of her mother, and stunning, in that dress she wears?? I seem to recall that same style/collar on Stef.
So who will make the sacrifice: Elisa or Dam to not hook up? My bet is on Elisa, to save her sorry excuse for a parent's business.
Like daisy, I loved the spider theme. Perfect!
This rich recap ebbed and flowed, clever and insightful. "Too bad, bad seed", "(Father) Guido (Sarduchi)Landuchi" and "blue spanx dress" were among my favorites. And of course your "we wonders, yes, we wonders" had me smiling in delight (love the LOTR references).
I did wonder why Paloma seemed surprised at Elisa's declaration of love but glad she encouraged her to fight for him.
Why the doctor is so bewitched and bedeviled by Carmina I can't begin to fathom. He is now totally obsessed. Is he going to rig the paternity test and say Augusto is not Elisa's father? Blech.
Thanks again Elna June. This was excellent.
Diana

He probably hasn't had any luvin' for months (maybe years.)
EJ--Fab recap and I think you're on to something with the spanx. I wonder how Altair even breathes in those dresses. Or walks in those towering heels.
Cap'n--Ok, you win. Father Guido Sar/Lan/duchi is a hottie.
Unkahunkapunk-right now you are throwing out a very Eddie Haskell vibe. I can live with that. Please don't morph into a complete douche.
Haven't watched this yet but looking forward to it, now that I've read your witty recap.
And "not to hump but to dump...Way to ramp up the attraction!"...Wicked insight m'dear. Thanks so much.
I am so glad to see Damian fighting for Elisa against his mother and anyone else who badmouths her. I did feel a bit sad for Flo. Damian is not being honest with himself, and neither is she. One of them needs to realize that this relationship is not going to work and needs to end.
Alfie was extra flirty with Guido and Flo noticed. She was giving her dad amused looks about it. I like Guido's no nonsense style.
So, what does Alfie have to gain by having Elisa attend the party? What is she planning? Looks like Elisa will be pressured to do many things to save her family business.
I thought it was really sad that the Tovar family was concerned about the Doc for about 2 seconds after he stomped upstairs, and then went back to their own petty needs/preoccupations. They completely forgot about him. Carmina sure is good at picking her victims. Men with harpy wives, no nookie or love at home, and high pressure jobs, just waiting to fall into her web.
Vivi I would rather have Horacio front and center in the plot line and act as Dam's groom then the little Snot-nose.
Saw a girl walk into the office building this morning (cold as it is here in NE Ohio) with one of those spandex dresses on ( love to know who she works for). Gees, those things look as uncomfortable up close as they do on a TV screen! Bless Altair for dealing with those trappings. As for the shoes, I don't think I've ever seen her in a role where she didn't wear them. She is such a little thing, I think she almost has to wear them to be anywhere close in height to her co-stars.
Paloma doesn't think she is as beautiful as Elisa, but, when Elisa and Paloma are together they both seem absolutely beautiful in different ways.
Diana: I also thought that Doc will rig the paternity test, and he will no doubt be influenced by Carmina who will be able to keep the tension at home high and unbearable.
No sympathy for Flo. Damian is right, she threatens to leave when she doesn't get her own way. What a spoiled brat. And, she's in this for money anyway.
Good for Elisa - standing up for herself against Alfonsina. And good for Damian for standing up for her, too.
I thought that was rather cheeky of Damian to just walk into Ramona's house without knocking. Or did he knock and I missed that?
Is Dam still wearing the amulet?
Dear Doctor E --- If Carmina put the big chill on you, turn it into lemonade. You satisfied her so much that she doesn’t need another dose of your 'medicine' for a long while.
Did Paloma walk into Dr. E's office without knocking? Gads! Good thing the Doc & The Orange One weren't … ahem … in consultation!
I see the good Padre has not ditched the hat yet. LOL
daisynjay - 'web' of intrigue ……. good one!
Pasofino - IMO Paloma is pretty in a natural way while Elisa is pretty in a plastic/botox way.
SARA - I'm thanking you in advance for Monday night's recap. I haven't had a chance to read it but will, later today. Gah! I haven't even had time to watch that episode and had to delete it from my DVR, so your recap will be all I have.
I'm afraid that I've been remiss in acknowledging the excellent recaps on a daily basis, so a belated thanks to Sylvia and Sara for the excellent offerings of the last few days.
I was thrilled to see that Horacio has been elected to look after White Horsie. This fits right into my plan to unite him and Florencia. I hope that when they see each other it will spark memories of the sparks they shared in a previous incarnation (LldA) as Ilitia and Brandon.
Judy, I'm already plotting the rehabilitation of Florencia. Even though she hasn't committed any crimes (yet), I'm already picking up on some negative vibes here.
And about Florencia, I really like the preview in the avances of her hairdo for the party.
Diana, I too sensed right away that selecting Dr. Tovar to supervise the DNA testing. I'm certain that his ethics will be challenged and I'm afraid that when it comes to Carmina... he may be weak.
Carlos
I am actually surprised that Elisa didn't already insist upon the DNA test. She is intelligent and knows that the result could change everything. Including getting her father out of her stepmother's web.
Which of those two species could more easily kill the other? Sooner or later we should have a wonderful catfight between Carmeana and Alfonsina.
Paulo is a rat. I do not only not find him attractive, I think he's a predator. His big brother knows that, too. And if he's supposed to be so much younger they should have found a younger actor.
Did Augie actually fess up to Elisa that he doubrs being her dad? I don't think he has, so she has no reason to demand a paternity test. I do think that Doc may be influenced by Carmeany, but I would think that would make him think twice about the kind of person she is. Also, with the lab being in Merida, the doc would have to do the switch with the blood samples, since it wouldn't be easy from his small town to influence the lab in the big city. Still don't know how he's going to convince Elisa to let him take her blood, for no reason.
So many of your comments had me howling, but my faves are "she has come not to hump El Gordito, but to dump El Gordito" and "Too bad, bad seed." I've learned to set down my tea before reading your recaps.
Definitely money problems at empresas Landucci. When Flo asked dad how's work he got all glum and evasive.
daisynjay, I wouldn't be surprised if Elisa's dress is one of Stef's old ones. Like you say, there is an uncanny resemblance.
Sara, I don't usually go for the more mature-looking characters, but I do like Father Guido. I don't think I've ever seen this actor in anything, unless his silver mane is faked for this one. He could lose the Tom Selleck mustache though.
Carlos, I must admit I thought of you when Gabino told Horacio he would be the new groom. That boy needs to do some personal grooming of his own first, though, if Flo is to cast her eye his way.
Urban, I'm liking the actor who plays Paolo. He is perfectly smarmy and walks a good tightrope of ambiguity. Plus, his too-dark dyed hair, perfectly plucked brows, and tanning salon hue make him look like a bona-fide lothario.
EJ thanks again, loved the recap. I knew from the title it would be a winner. BTW, I tagged it for you.
As to how the doctor will coerce a blood sample from Elisa, he could make the excuse that his records don't include her blood type. In case of need of course.
Thanks to all for the kind comments. A quick apology to all for my poor editing on this recap. Alas, these things happen in these late night postings! Smile.
Daisynjay: I am glad you enjoyed the recap. ITA about Tonia and the kid. I like Braulio, though. He is so handsome. I think that is Estephania's dress that Elisa wears. Wow. Can't wait for tonight!
Thanks, Diana—you are too kind. I love your phrase "bewitched and bedeviled" regards Carmina and Edmundo. Oh, yeah. He's sunk. Cutting him off just increased the need and Carmina knows it.
Sara: The Spanx dresses! Wow! Now as these things go, Altair looks great in them, but they ar eas tight as Speedos. Gotta be tiny to pull that look off, generally speaking. Medlaine Stowe wore those Herve Leger bandage dresses in the new ABC nightime soap, 'Revenge' this year. She is over 50 and looked great. Mar Contreras wears them on LQNPA. Ah, well, maybe next lifetime...
JudyB, dear friend, fine writer, I am glad you enjoyed the recap. I thought of you as I posted a "first draft" without editing. I thought, "JudyB would never be this sloppy."Big smile and hugs to you.
EJ
So glad you enjoyed the spider theme. I confess to a morbid fascination with spiders. Isn't it great to see Damian give his mom what-for? I love that about how Zepeda is playing the role. He is no pushover, that's for sure. I hope the "kids" continue loyal to one another through thick and thin.
You are so right about Alfonsina and her invitation to the party. She has some humiliation in mind for Elisa, bet on it.
Susanlynn: I like guapo Guido, too. I think Paolo is a really bad guy.
Pasofino: ITA about both Paloma and Elisa being lovely. Boyer is quite pretty and unusual looking with those big eyes and short upper lip.
Doris: Glad you liked the recap and no, nobody knocks in La Ermita. Notice that Lolita enjoys sneaking up on and surprising Carmina. I would hate that! Nice passive-aggressive acting out, Delores.
Carlos: Thanks for your kind words. Flo and Horacio (redux), I like your thinking.
UA: So glad you appreciated the recap. Oh, yeah. A spider showdown is surely coming our way. Black widow's are much larger and tougher than the Brown Recluse but he Brown Recluse is deadlier.
Vivi: I don't think Augusto has told Elisa of his doubts about her parentage. And, if you can't recall it, then it hasn't happened. Nobody here has a memory like yours!
EJ
Up late and I still left the recap riddled with typos. Sigh. That's sort of like the t-shirt I used to wear to train for long runs. It said, "I am fat, but I am lazy."
I knew you would appreciate the 'dump not hump' allusion.
Father Guido Landuchi should just marry Alfonsina himself. She sure seems to be crushing on him!
ElnaJune
I also liked your spider theme, it made me remember the old Spider Woman theme in Spanish that I always loved to mock at school.
About Paloma feeling inferior to Elisa's beauty, I think it has to do more with Gael being always inlove with her than anything else. Mireya/Paloma was gorgeous and sexy in Cañaveral so it's not like the character was meant to be a wallflower or anything.
Jarocha
ITA..I don't think Paloma is inferior to Elisa in beauty. They are different types, but Paloma is gorgeous. As I said earlier, I think Boyer is pretty and unusual looking, not classically beautiful.
Gael and Paloma would make a striking couple.
EJ
Lol the most to the dump not hump line and Carmina in the mirror looking good especially in comparison to, say, Begonia.
Thanks so much EJ!
R la O
Diana - I too got queasy thinking the paternity test and our compromised Doc. I do hold out the hope that Vivi put forward that if Carmeany suggests it, it may reveal her real personality to him.
Nice to see you Jarocha. I hope school is going well!
Isn't Elisa's hair up like Estefania's too? Won't Elisa's look stir up the town, Alfonsina, Carmina & Disgusto especially?
Is he going to rig the paternity test and say Augusto is not Elisa's father?
Edmundo wouldn't really have any motive to do that on his own. If he fixed the text it would be at the behest of somebody else.
The only 2 (and a half) people the "Elisa is Rosendo's child" result would benefit would be:
1) Carmina, b/c she would be proven "right."
2) Florencia, b/c Elisa would be shut down as a love rival
1/2) Alfonsina, b/c Elisa couldn't get her hooks into Damian and would prove her right about Estefania; however, the test would prove Elisa to be an heir to the Arango fortune (sad trombone).
I'm going to take a guess that Carmina either tampers with the test or sexes up Tovar to tamper with the test.
Tovar is all up in Carmina's grill b/c he probably hasn't had any from Begona since Sabrina was conceived.
Is Dam still wearing the amulet?
I haven't seen Damian wearing the amulet since he was a kid. But we see him swimming in the cenote with the amulet so at some point he's going to put it on and Flo can kiss her relationship goodbye.
I am actually surprised that Elisa didn't already insist upon the DNA test
Does Elisa know that Augusto suspects she's not his child? She knows he's keeping something from her and Carmina was egging him on to tell her but I didn't think he ever told her of his suspicions.
Augusto is right up there with Gonzo from MEPS, believing any bad thing about their child b/c the woman they're boinking said so (Gonzo/Liliana; Augusto/Elisa).
Jarocha
Damian doesn't have his amulet, but judging by the avances his is going to make an appearance tonight, thus making Ramona's prediction come to fruition. Wheee!
Damn that Alfonsina! She always seems to get the upper hand.
I have a friend who also got breast implants and she didn't mind telling anybody in sight. She was actually very proud of them. So I don't think those shameful feelings are there for all the people who have plastic surgery performed, just those who are more insecure or who surround themselves in environments with higher criticisms.
Jarocha
Jarocha, I'm sure you are right. The attitude of needing to be perfect-looking (whatever that is) must be very difficult for those who are in the limelight all the time. They are always getting critiqued for their looks, often very unfairly. "Normal" people can probably be much cavalier about their cosmetic enhancement. Heck, if I were wealthy I can think of one or two little things I might get help with.
How do you pronounce "Altair?"
Speaking of her, she has a very angelic looking face but she looks like she could look mean on a dime.
Are people forgetting that handsome Guido is actually more smarmy than his openly slick little brother. After all it is he who needs the Araña (nice one EJ) fortune to keep his own faltering fortune from going under. He is debonair and subtle but absolutely determined behind it.
I love Altair's looks and charms, I just wish they would let her play a really good human being and not always the snobbitch. At least she doesn't seem truly evil this time just reeking spoiled. Damien is taking advantage of her in acting like he can do no wrong and she can just lump it. But then he has already determined that her tacones muy altas will keep her from bugging him as he roams the countryside on prettyhorsey.
We just saw a paternity test corrupted on Familia a few months back so I am sure CarMeany will get Toofar to bend his ethics for a few botox kisses.
Paloma is a great natural beauty I agree. I just hope feckless Gael gets a clue before someone sees her charms and tries to harm her since she is only the Bruja's Nieta. Wasn't Toofar just nasty at lashing out at Paloma for being a few minutes late when he was really mad because she told Elisa that Carmeany had been to his office.
AlfaBitchsina looks like she would jump Guido in a heartbeat, she is so rusting on the shelf. He would get his money sooner if he pleasured her instead but he kind of snears when he looks at her so that is not likely.
Thanks for your feedback. It always means so much coming from a great recapper like yourself.
Great point about Guido. His smarmy is just tarted up a little, isn't it? If Guido could "pleasure" Alfonspider, he would have one hell of an ally. If I were picking teams for serious competition volleyball she'd be my first pick with that unrelenting killer instinct.
Together they could rule the Hot Sauce World! Oh, my. I got a little carried away.
EJ
Altair (pronouced how it's spelled All-tair) is pretty small on top too. She has a wonderful figure.
For those wanting to see Altair in a very different role, here she is as a teenager playing the younger version of a young Silvia Navarro. See minute 5:10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue5SpPe9o2c&feature=related
EJ, they could rule the hot sauce world together as long as Guido can keep Alfonspider from biting his head off.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altair
I was obsessed with constellations and planets in the summer's night sky in Iowa when I was six spending the summer on my grandparents small farm while my parents were off caring for my dreadfully ill big brother. Learning the sky map, memorizing poems and caring for baby animals were the pleasures that held me together at this difficult time. I still go outside everynight that I can so Willa and I can say goodnight to the stars and the moon. And sometimes lately to howl a little with the new coyotes.
Yeah, there is always the risk of date, mate and die when you go out with a Black Widow.
I don't think we know for sure that Guido is sleazy but we do get that he is slippery, so far. Time will tell, but I side with Cheryl on this one. I would just love to see Alfonspider meet her match, a big ol' man spider who could TAKE HER DOWN.
Ah, well, you know what they say. If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.
EJ
EJ, I'm more worried for Guido than I am for Alfonsina, much as I would love to see him get the better of her. Nobody seems to be able to do that, except Rosendo of course and look what happened to him.
Jarocha
Thanks for letting us know Jarocha. That's sad news.
Jarocha
Since Rosendo was the one who was giving Padre payments on Gael's behalf I still tend toward him as being the father.
Anon, I think they could use your story-telling skills over on El Talisman. You don't live in Miami by any chance?
Is Guido something like a first cousin to Alfonsina? (why do I think they are related . . . ? senior moment?) They somehow go back a long time in knowing each other ... ?
Guido might be as slippery as his younger brother(Paolo) but he (G) brings an element of class to the table with him. ;-)
