Abismo de pasión #45 5/11/12: Ramona Blocks the Dam

Alternative Titles
Dam Blocks Gael
Elisa Blocks Paloma
Alfonsina Blocks Gabino
Horacio Blocks Gael
Lolita Blocks Agosto
Guido Blocks Florencia
Kenia Blocks Ingrid

Casa de Castanon-Master Bedroom
Agosto tells Carmina that he’s been drinking.  She tells him that she’s going to sleep in the guest room because now she doesn’t want to sleep with him.  He doesn’t look concerned.

Procesadora-Reception Area

People are working and moving boxes.  Gabino triumphantly enters the office.  He announces that everything will now return to normal.  With a sly smile, Maru tells him not to be so sure.  Damien walks in.  Gabino is shocked and so am I that Damien chose to come to work wearing a really super cool crème Members Only jacket with a Fonzarelli collar.  Gabino’s back stiffens.  Damien walks over to Ingrid and greets her warmly.  Maru tells Damien that Don Lucio is waiting in his office. Damien tells Maru to hold his calls.  This will be a private conversation.  Gabino looks worried.
Procesadora-Damien’s Office

Lucio Kravitz is telling all of Elisa’s business to Damien (I ain’t mad at him).  He tells Damien that he’s happy to know that Damien has finally decided to stay.  Lucio tells Damien that Elisa can’t get a loan to clear and plant the fields.  She needs something to bring to the bank that shows she has a customer.  Damien tells Lucio to write the terms of the contract (I think).  Lucio says that she won’t accept it.  Damien tells him that the agreement will be between her and him and she won’t have to rely about Gabino or Alfonsina.  Damien says to leave it to him.  He’ll convince her.  Not in that jacket.
Casa Castanon-Foyer

Gael and Lolita are in the foyer.  Elisa comes in the house and tells him that the banks won’t talk to her.  She slams down her hat.  She and Gael leave to look at the fields.
Dead Fields of Elisa Castanon

Gael and Elisa arrive at the fields on his horse.  He helps her down.  She and her big boobs bounce over to the weeds.  She is going to clear the fields with bare hands!  She’s balling and tearing at the weeds.  Gael grabs her and tells her that she has to remain calm.  Everything will be alright.  He pulls her into his arms and comforts her.  Damien approaches on Mr. Ed.  Gael sees him, pulls Elisa closer and strokes her hair.  They break apart.   Damien, still wearing a really super cool crème Members Only jacket with a Fonzarelli collar, dismounts and rushes over to Gael and Elisa.  He’s holding a blue and white folder.  Oddly, Damien and Elisa are color coordinated.   It’s as if they called each other that morning.   Gael protectively has his arm wrapped around Elisa as they walk towards Damien.  Damien is celos and it shows on his face.  Forgive me if I’m interrupting something, he says sarcastically. Gael wants to know why Damien is there.   You are messing up my game, man!!!!!  he says between gritted teeth.  We thought you’d be in Mexico already.  Damien says that he’s not going now.  Why? She asks.  Did you fight with Florencia? (oohhh good one!).  Gael explains to Damien that Kenia explained everything to Elisa at the dinner.  Damien changes the subject.  Lolita told me where you would be.   Damien hands her contract!  She refuses at first.  She doesn’t want any favors.  He tells her it’s the same contract that other vendors have to sign.  Don’t be so proud.  It will be a good start for the two of you (he chokes those words out and tears up when he says it).  She takes it.  Damien painfully says “I won’t bother you more” and leaves.  Gael tells Elisa that Damien doesn’t like seeing them so close.  I think she tells Gael that if the shoe were on the other foot, he would fight for her.  Help me out.
Casa de Familia Castanon

Lolita answers the rotary dial phone. What year are they in? Cuz, it’s Paloma calling from Dr. Whipped’s office and she’s sitting in front of a typewriter.  She wants to speak with Elisa.  Can Elisa come to the clinic?  Elisa’s with Gael in her mother’s fields.  They just left.  Paloma hangs up the phone and looks bummed.
Procesadora-Gabino office

Gabino and Ingrid argue.   He wants to know why she was talking to Damien.  His shirt is unbuttoned revealing his scrumptiously, hairy muscular chest.  My fingers are twitching to touch it.  Why aren’t I in this scene?   He demands to know what’s going on with her.  I got big blue Nerf balls, he whines.  You ain’t been paying attention to me.  You’ve been mean to me!  Ingrid tells him not to worry about Damien.  He tells her not to play with him.  She calms him down with a little smoochy poo.  He gets an adorably confused look on his face.
Procesadora-Reception Area

When Ingrid walks into the waiting room, Kenia is waiting to speak to her in the reception area.   Kenia kisses Ingrid and tells her mother that she’s rented a hotel room in town.  She’s coming back to La Ermita.  Ingrid is outwardly annoyed.  Maru wants to know who that girl is.  She’s someone that I can’t get rid of.
Casa de Arango-Florencia’s Bedroom

Finally!  Positive proof that these are not real Italians!  The “Italians” are fighting.  No one is talking with their hands or pounding on the table.  I knew it!  Guido says that they are leaving.  Florencia doesn’t want to leave until Damien forgives her for tongue wrangling with Enrique behind the barn.  Her father tells her that what she did was very bad; she’s getting a spanking when they get back to Mexico (she even will have to pick her own switch off the tree).  Paolo, chilling in a chair, is listening to the whole thing.  Florencia blames Paolo and says that she should have never listened to him.  She knew it was the wrong thing to do.  Paolo says that he merely suggested it.  She’s a big girl. He didn’t make her clean Enrique’s uvula in plain view.  Paolo tells them to have a good trip.  Dad says their leaving in two hours.
Casa de Castanon-Carmina’s Vanity

Carmina is sitting in front of her vanity.  Must I be treated to two images of her?  Anyways, she’s imaging her secret tryst with Paolo at the smut shack baby smut shack.  She’s interrupted by Lolita who is there to move so things into the guest room?  She wants to know if they are Agosto’s or Carminas.  Carmina says that they are hers (I think).  Carmina continually fluffs her hair during the conversation.  Carmina says that her stuff stays in the guest room?  Lolita wants to know why Carmina wants doesn’t pay attention to her husband anymore.  Carmina says that she shouldn't have to explain anything.  She is going to live and let live.  I didn’t get this conversation.  If anyone else has an interpretation, go for it.
Casa de Castanon-Agosto’s office

Agosto remembers Kenia coming out of the cenote.  She’s cute and has a very nice shape, but she ain’t no Gabino.
Casa de Arango-Alfonsina’s office

Guido tries to give the check back to Alfonsina.  He doesn’t feel right about taking the check after all his family has put her through.  She won’t accept it.  She hopes their friendship won’t be affected by what occurred between their kids.  He thanks her, swears to pay her back and leaves.  The phone rings.  It’s Ingrid.  She wants to discuss her blackmail threats over the phone.  I don’t recommend this.  Alfonsina wants to know what she told Damien.  You were there.  You heard the whole thing.  I told him that I was Gael’s mother.  I want his help making Gael forgive me. I told him that Gael’s father was a well-respected man in La Ermita.  Alfonsina tells her that Damien could have guessed that Gael was Rosendo's.  Ingrid gives Alfonsina another opportunity to give up the Benjamins.  Alfonsina tells her to name the place.  Ingrid is not allowed at her house.
Procesadora

Damien is still sporting his really super cool crème Members Only jacket with a Fonzarelli collar.  Enrique comes in and gives his two-week notice.  Damien tells him that he doesn’t mix business with his personal life.  He is not gonna fire Enrique.  He asks Enrique how he feels about Florencia.  Enrique says he loves her, but she loves Damien.  Damien tells Enrique that she’s all his and thanks him for helping him to see the light.   He thanks him, but also says that they will never be friends.
Casa de Castanon-Foyer

Lucio encourages Elisa to sign the contract.  He helped Damien write the contract.  She has her pride and doesn’t want anything from Damien.  He tells her to learn to separate business from matters of the heart.  She will never make it if she can’t do that.  She’s continues to protest.  She’s getting on his nerves and mine.  He grabs his hat and bounces.  Unfortunately, I can’t storm out with him because I have committed myself to watching on Friday nights.  Her lower lip quivers.
Castanon Green Fields

Don Agosto is angry because Gael is late for work again.  Gael explains that he was in Elisa’s fields.  Then Gael Kravitz tells ALL of Elisa’s business to her father.   He says he’s only telling him because he is going to find out anyway.   If he knew her menstrual cycle, I’m sure he would have shared that with him too.  Gael tells Agosto all about Damien giving Elisa a contract.  Question:  Why are all 20 of the field hands (dressed in white) picking crops in the same exact spot?
Casa de Castanon-Elisa’s Bedroom

Elisa flies into her room and slams down her hat.  Lolita happens to be in there.  Why do I have so many complicated problems?  The contract.  Her father.  Don Lucio.  Gael’s feelings.  Damien.  Why did Lolita tell Damien where she was?  Why didn’t Damien go to Mexico?  Her life is so complicated.  Lolita says it’s obvious.   He found out that Florencia was never preggers.  Elisa discounts that explanation and says that Damien knew that chick was lying long before now.  It has to be something else.  She’s also annoyed that Damien told Gael to go for her.  Lolita tells her to talk to Damien.  Nah, she’s not going to do that.  She’d rather complain.  Lolita tells her that Paloma called and asked her to stop by the clinic.  Lolita tells Elisa that she told Paloma that she was in the fields with Gael.  Another problem.  Great.  Commercial.
Castanon Green Fields

Agosto and Gael are having an intense discussion about Elisa, the fields, Damien and the contract.  Agosto says that Elisa will sign that contract over his dead body.  Kenia interrupts.  Did I come at a bad time?  She’s come to talk to Gael (hopefully, it’s not to tell him a secret).  Agosto immediately calms down, sprints around Gael and dives across a dirt road into order to get into the Kenia end zone first.  He tells her that he and Gael were discussing problems at work.   He is all up in her personal space.  I’m here to talk to Gael, back up buddy.   Lobo leaves her, but sits at a nearby table and stares at her while licking his chops.  Kenia tells Gael that she knew Ingrid before she came to La Ermita.  She met her the day she fell off the moto traveling the break-necking speed of 5 miles an hour.  According to Kenia, on that day, Ingrid told her that she abandoned a baby at a church.  Ingrid tried to comfort her by telling her that story.    She tells him not to trust Ingrid because she doesn’t have good intentions.  I didn’t understand the entire conversation.  If someone has a better interpretation, go for it.
Hotel-Ingrid’s Room

Alfonsina gives Ingrid a check. Cha Ching! Ingrid says Alfonsina’s been very generous.  The check is for more that she thought she was going to get out of her.  “That’s it.  You’ll get no more.  Get out of Dodge”.   Alfonsina says that she’ll leave in about two days, she needs to wrap things up with Gael.   What real blackmailer will accept a check? I don’t recommend this.   I’m always afraid that they’ll stop payment or something or I’ll misplace it.
Casa de Arango-Foyer

Florencia’s bags are packed.  She’s waiting with her father in the foyer.  Damien walks in.  Guido apologizes to Damien.  When they get to Mexico, she will be put in the Time Out corner immediately.   Guido leaves the two alone.  She tries to explain and begs for forgiveness.  He doesn’t want to hear it.  He doesn’t love her as much as he thought he did.  She tells him that he will regret dumping her for Elisa.  He doesn’t seem to give a flying burrito.
Dr. No Longer Whipped Office

Paloma wants to know if it’s true that Elisa was in the fields with Gael.  Yes and I started crying, so he comforted me in his arms.  It was wonderful!  Don’t ya wish you were me?   Paloma does not look happy about that.  Elisa assures her that she’s not interested in Gael.  She goes on:  Right while we were about to make out, Damien comes riding up on Mr. Ed and he gets all jealous.  Paloma tells Elisa that Damien caught Florencia and Enrique swapping spit behind the barn.  Elisa is shocked. Paloma heard the whole thing when Mrs. Kravitz was talking to the Doctor.  Commercial.
Casa de Arango

Mrs. Kravitz apologizes for her son kissing Florencia.  Alfonsina doesn’t care.  She’s got major revenge to plot.  You are the least of my concerns.  She gives Mrs. Kravitz the big pointy stiletto and shoves her out the door!  Alfonsina calls Gabino.  Get your furry little chest over here!
Restaurante

Kenia is disgruntled because her mother is late.  She wants to know why Ingrid wouldn’t let her give her a ride to the restaurant.  Ingrid shows Kenia the check she got from Alfonsina.  I got more money out of her that you did.   Kenia agrees that its big chedder, but points out that Ingrid could have scored more if Gael got half of the Arango fortune.   Ingrid agrees, but says Kenia messed up her game plan by coming to town.  Even if Gael knows he’s an Arango, he hates Ingrid and will never give her a cent.  She points out that he will eventually hate Kenia when he finds out that she’s is sister and has been deceiving him.  Kenia says that she doesn’t care if he knows.  She’ll stay his friend forever.  She likes her brother.  Kenia tells Ingrid that she better leave town immediately because Alfonsina knows that Ingrid knows that Damien and Gael are hermanos.  She might have an accident, unnatural disaster or there may be a misunderstanding if Ingrid does not leave town soon.
Iglesia

Father Lupe and Gael are arguing about Elisa.  They both have great hair.  They are screaming, waving handkerchiefs in the air and pounding on tables.  Hmmmmmm.  They may be Italian.  Padre tells Gael that Damien is in love with Elisa and that he needs to accept it.  Gael will not accept it.  He tells Lupe that Damien told him to fight for Elisa.
Casa de Arango-Alfonsina’s Office

Alfonsina wants to know if Gabino is loyal to her.  He says yes. Does he know that chick named Ingrid that works in her procesadora?  Yeppers, but not very well.  I hired her because we needed a secretary.   Alfonsina tells Gael to get rid of Ingrid.  Make her disappear.  Gabino is shocked down to his big blue NERF balls.  Commercial.
Casa de Arango-Alfonsina’s Office

Gosh, he looks so adorable when he’s confused.  With a straight face, Gabino tells Alfonsina that he is not a murderer.  She says that she didn’t ask him to kill anyone.  Are we being recorded?  She (winks) just wants Ingrid to disappear.  Did I say I wanted her dead (wink wink)?  She only slept with my husband, had his baby, gave the baby to my brother so that I have to stare at him every day and now she’s back for more money.  Why on earth would I want her dead?  We’re not being recorded right?    Scare her out of town.   She doesn’t want her in La Ermita, much less at her procesadora.  The NERF balls want to know why.  Alfonsina says that none of his business.  Just follow orders.  He leaves.
Hotel-Ingrid’s Room

Ingrid stops to admire her new shiny check, puts it in a Bible, and they puts it in her purse.  Ingrid is quickly packing her grip.  She appears to be following orders and getting out of Dodge City.

Casa de Kenia

Kenia rents a Pepto Bismal pink house.  She gives the owner a check for a year in advance and gets a key.
Clinic

Elisa and Paloma discuss Florencia and how the grand love that she felt for Damien was a complete lie.  Paloma tells her to go after Damien.  No one will bother them now.  Besides, it will keep you’re a$$ away from Gael.  Elisa tells Paloma that she shouldn’t be worried about her.  Paloma should be worried about Kenia.
La Hermita Mercado

I want Ramona’s basket AND her bag.  They are FA BU LOUS!  She can keep the straw hat and the FDLS skirt.  She and Lolita are walking out of the Mercado.  Lolita has come to the market to find Horacio.  She’s met him there in the past and he has helped her.  Ramona gives Lolita a love candle.  The flame of the candle will bring news of that man to her.
Arango Stables

Damien (still wearing that really super cool crème Members Only jacket with the Author Fonzarelli collar) asks Horacio if Mr. Ed is saddled up.  He’s going for a ride.  Gael is cussing and storming towards them.  Horacio jumps in between them.
Horacio:  Hold up!  Man, don’t roll up on my boy like that!  Back up!
Damien:  I got this.  He ain’t gonna do jack.
Horacio:  Well then, handle your business!  I’ll step off.
Gael:  Are you mackin’ on Elisa?

Damien says, Ya damn skippy, I am.  She’s cute and her body’s banging!
Gael tells Damien that he’s been in La Ermita the entire time and he’s not going to let Damien just step in and take her away from him.  He’s not going out like that.

Casa de Castanon-Kitchen
Lolita is putting away the groceries that she bought at the market.  She’s wearing some really cute earrings.  Agosto’s enters the kitchen.  He’s lost his woman and his kid.  He asks Lolita if she’s seen them.  Elisa’s visiting Paloma at the clinic.  She tells him that he needs to change his mood cause he’s always angry.  She tells him that she has moved his stuff to the guest room?  I am confused about this musical room thing (please someone interpret).  He wants to know where is wife is.  She doesn’t know.

Smut Shack Baby Smut Shack
Paolo and Carmina are kissing…loudly and frankly, I am annoyed.  In telenovelas, kisses should be seen and not heard.  I can’t hear the dialog over the all that unnerving smacking.   I never thought I’d say this, but please let them feign tongue kissing because the smacking is driving me nuts and not in a good way.  From what I can gather, Carmina wants Paolo to continue to harass Elisa until he gets her.  Paolo say he’s a little hesitant considering in the past week or so, he’s been pulverized by Damien and had a sawed-off shoved into his face by Agosto for breathing next to Elisa.  Carmina says she hates Elisa and blames her for her baby’s death.  She also says that Elisa is the cause of her marriage failing.

Back at the Casa de Castanon-Foyer and Elisa’s Bedroom
Thanks to Gael Kravitz, Agosto demands to see the contract as soon as Elisa enters the house.  He wants her to give him the contract.  He will not allow her to do business with an Arango.  His father took his wife from him!  She says that it’s her business, not his.  Oh my gosh, Becky!  Her boobs are so big!  He tells her that she can’t make that deal with Damien.  He’s tossing the room, like he’s the DEA and the shepherds just alerted.  He wants to know where she’s hidden it.  She says that she has nothing to hide!  He finds it! She grabs it and he tries to forcibly take it from her.  Lolita jumps in between them!  She will not allow him to hurt Elisa.  You can fight me, but unlike your daughter, I’ll fight you back!  AND I FIGHT DIRTY! (I just added that in.  It would have been cool if she said it!)  Elisa cowers behind her.  He considers taking on Lolita, but she stares him down.  He leaves.  Annnnnnnnd on queue.  Sobs and Tears.

The Cenote
Dam Fine dismounts from his proud, white stallion and tightly secures its leather reigns to a near-by, low-hanging, oak branch.  Urgent fingers, tearing at buttons, rush to release a body shackled by the constraints of a white linen prison!  He marches towards the placid, clear water.  Although once bound, his torso has suddenly been set free!  Rapidly, Dam Finer yanks the shirt from his 300-like frame!  Crouching down, he draws the cool water with a bandana of blue.  Guided by powerful hands, the bandana slowly glides over his heated flesh.  The delightful strawberry birthmark stamped sternum, his only imperfection.  Damp blue material continues its voyage across his vast chest; beads of moisture roll over the tiny valleys of his abdomen and continue down the path of a very happy tra…Ramona! Now is not the time for your Jedi mind trick, Mayan mystical, mumbo jumbo crap!  Why isn’t she wearing a bell?  Oh Joy!  She’s there to advise him and unfortunately, that advice is not for him to unbutton his jeans.

Thanks to the unwelcome distractions, he STOPS washing himself and walks over to her.  He certainly works out because those pecs are all plumped up!  Blah blah blah, she says that she knew he would never leave La Ermita.  He sure has a beautiful body profile.  He says her advice is silly.  I agree.  This is not the time.  He wipes is neck.  More delicious moisture running down his ribs! Hard swallow by this recapper.  Is she a eunic?  Cuz she doesn’t seem affected by this.  Blah Blah Blah friendship will last forever.  Dam!  There was another profile shot.  Dam!  There a back shot!  Blah Blah! Blah!  Some friendships will last forever and a woman won’t come between them.  Great!  She’s done?  Skedaddle!  This scene has stirred up many feelings in me that I am ashamed to express.
One last happy thought before I go.  This was the last scene, so it will be the first scene on Monday.  Oh Yes!  Yes!  Yes!

Did you know that you can get a brain freeze from a Coolatta from Dunkin Donuts because you laughed too hard as you were drinking? Oh my stars...this was outrageous! I don't know where to begin on the fabulousness...

"a really super cool crème Members Only jacket with a Fonzarelli collar" (Ditch the jackets! We don't need another Augustin)
"I got big blue Nerf balls, he whines."
" If he knew her menstrual cycle, I’m sure he would have shared that with him too.
"Why on earth would I want her dead? We’re not being recorded right?"

And then the whole Cenote recap--(that's when I got my brain freeze!)

He of the jackets in 95 degree heat had me a bit miffed, and by the previews, I'm going to be even more miffed I'm betting. I get that Dam now wants to move in on Elisa, but does he have to be all pissy about it? And if the said previews ring true, I'm sorry, if I were Elisa that would be the LAST time I give Dam the time of day. Ultimatums!?!? And this is our hero, right?

And I have to admit Cynderella, Gabino just amazes how he goes from badass to sweet and lost. I have to give kudos to this actor because honestly, most of the time this type of character is played so one-note that it's boring. But Salvadore plays him with so many nuances. And, ok, damn, he looks good.

Note to writers--when Carmina needs to talk to her make-out buddies, can we cut the macking? Her guppy-style kisses are annoying enough, but dealing with her talking and guppy-facing at the same time. Annoying and gross as hell. Either that or turn the camera so all we get is the male in question. Thank you.

Lets hope either Irritating leaves like Right now, or Kenia's foreshadowing comes to pass. Bet Gabino makes Horacio do the dirty work...but II is one character I would not miss.

Now I am going to put down the Coolatta and re-read this Pièce de résistance.

Thanks Daisy! Now I have to go find a Dunkin Donuts and that's pretty hard to do in San Diego.

Cynderella:
Dynamite recap, amiga. Some favorite lines:

"Lucio Kravitz is telling all of Elisa’s business to Damien (I ain’t mad at him)."

And, like Daisy I howled at "I got big blue Nerf balls, he whines. You ain’t been paying attention to me."

On Paolo and Flo, "He didn’t make her clean Enrique’s uvula in plain view." So good!

As to Gael Kravitz, can anyone in this show keep their mouth shut? I don't think so.

Thanks, Cynderella, for another sexy, rollicking recap. ILMAO.EJ

Cynderella: Wonderful funny recap.
Gosh darn, Ramona had to show up just when Dam was getting to the good part.

Hilaious recap, Cynderella. If I wanted to quote the zingers I would have to quote the whole recap.

Is there anyone out there who knows for sure what's up with Una Familia con Suerte? I'm out of the country from Thusday 5/17 to Friday 5/25. I HATE these tw
4 1/2 two hour shows. So I was just checking a TV Guide site -- and it looks like a new show is starting on Thursday 5/24. Does anyone know if that is accurate?
Does the show really end on 5/23. I hate to miss the finale after all this time -- but my VCR can catch most of it if it really ends while I'm in Cuba.

Wow, do write steamy love novels too? If not, you should. You're good.

p.s. I miss the old blogspot word verification when the made up words were almost real.

CathyX, thx. I used to be addicted to Harlequin Romances. I just tried to imitate that writing style. :-)

Cynderella, you bringin it, girl. This is your best yet! I’m limiting myself to five favorites just to give others a chance, but it was a *very* difficult winnowing process:

“Damián says…he’ll convince her. Not in that jacket.”

“Agosto immediately calms down, sprints around Gael and dives across a dirt road into order to get into the Kenia end zone first.”

“Guido apologizes to Damien. When they get to Mexico, Florencia will be put in the Time Out corner immediately.”

“Alfonsina calls Gabino. Get your furry little chest over here!”

“Ramona! Now is not the time for your Jedi mind trick, Mayan mystical, mumbo jumbo crap! Why isn’t she wearing a bell?”

Also loved the whole "who are the real Italians?" thing. I think we can get more mileage out of that!

Ohmigawd...another naughty Cynderella recap. I've looked forward to this all week.

Some faves:
"tongue wrangling" (Nice Western theme there, lady)

The "real Italian" quest...and your conclusion that Gael and Padre Lupe are more Italian than those phlegmatic Landuccis

"Big Blue Nerf Balls" (clearly a crowd favorite, I bet everyone mentions it)

"Horacio: Hold up! Man, don’t roll up on my boy like that! Back up!
Damien: I got this. He ain’t gonna do jack.
Horacio: Well then, handle your business! I’ll step off." (Hilarious)

And the final Harlequin romance paragraph...oh yeah, I was rolling with you all the way. Fantastic "pastiche" (that's French for you were bringin' it Cynderella!)

Thanks for cheering me up immensely after coming home from a very sad Memorial Service. You made me laugh out loud m'dear, and for that I will always be grateful.

thanks Cynderella!! i am saving reading this one until kids are in bed... lol
i too was laughing at the scene at Augusto's fields when Kenya shows up and Augusto totally forgot he was ARGUING loudly with Gael, When hearing Kenya, Gael just turned around and put on a 'WTH are u here again for?' but Augusto totally lost track that Gael was there at all... it was all Kenya and him in the Universe from there on.

Cynderella, this was brilliant. There were so many great lines that had me LOL and our trip to the cenote was quite steamy.

I loved Lolita's ultimatum to the Toad, who had the audacity to smirk at her. She has a lot of anger at his unfair treatment of his daughter and allowing the Orange Shrew to wreck havoc for years so he should watch himself; my money's on her as we know she would love to take on those two miscreants.

daisynjay - ITA about Dam. I don't know why jealousy is usually the first step in many heroes' journeys but it seems we must all go through this unnecessary and usually controlling and sexist exercise.

Kenia while on a better path to be close to her brother needs to stop that unfortunate habit of lying.

I'm still somewhat shocked Fina ordered a murder/disappearance. I know those who carry out the mission usually don't make so I think the boss is in trouble too.

I think we are going to have to count the number of episodes where Elisa doesn't cry. She's cried in the last 2, I believe. Not too much, but cried nonetheless.
I don't think Gabino or Horacio will kill Ingrid. Gabino likes her too much to do that.

So is it common to call Mexico City just Mexico?

It is common to call Mexico City "Mexico," just as we call New York City "New York."

I think that since Eliza became an adult, there have been maybe 1-2 episodes in which she didn't cry. I like that she's shouting a lot more now, but it doesn't seem to cut into her crying time.

P.S. Cathyx, I love your picture.

Cynderella- I am still chuckling about your last paragraph. Thanks for the titilating recap.

I wonder what Gabino is going to do about Ingrid?

I can't believe Carmeany is sending Paolo after Elisa, AGAIN, and that he's agreed to it. Are her sloppy kisses really that convincing? Even needy Doc Tovar snapped out of it when she asked him to do shady stuff.

Didn't Elisa pretty much go this whole week without crying?

Lolita had a few zingers when speaking to Carmeany and Augie this espisode. She pointed out to Augie that he was looking for a fight with Elisa and told him to knock it off, and she told him that she had better things to do than to keep moving their crap back and forth to the guest bedroom. All this before challenging him to fight with her if he tries to touch Elisa. Go Lolita!

Thanks Blue Lass.

Vivi, I loved it, too, when Lolita said to Augusto that his wife didn't even tell *him* where she was going, so how does he expect her to know?

Vivi, I was thinking As I watched the episode that this was the first time all week Elisa started to shed a few tears--but she snapped out of pretty quickly. That's not too bad, I mean the poor thing didn't have the best day.

Blue Lass- Yes! That was another great zinger from Lolita. LOL!

Whooooaaaa whoooaaaa whoa Cynderella! I saw this was posted and skimmed down to see how long it was, so all I've read is the last paragraph. Dang Girl! I wasn't going to watch this episode until tomorrow, but I may have to at least FF to the end with all the beads of moisture and valleys of abdomen before I go to bed. Aaaaaahhh.

Cathy x : I am SO with you on missing the good word verifications. What can one say about "ttillyi" and "provrbie", which is what I have now. Give me "deldio" or "sheman" anyday.

Sweet dreams, Friends.

R la O

cynderella, havent read all the comments so dont know if this has been answered
Gael tells Elisa that Damien doesn’t like seeing them so close. I think she tells Gael that if the shoe were on the other foot, he would fight for her. Help me out.

she said 'wasn't he the one that told you to give it a try with me?' or stte.

Lolita wants to know why Carmina wants doesn’t pay attention to her husband anymore...

Lolita came in the room to ask whose clothes she should move to the guest room since she (Carmina) was the one that slept there last night... Carmina says her things STAY HERE...
THen Lola changes the subject and asks her how come when Carmina used to do WHATEVER she could to get AssBrain to notice her and pay attention to her, now she didn't really care that much (if he did)... (we all know it is because now she is setting her eyes on Paolo for her entertainment)... Carmina basically tells her to mind her own business.

Alfonsina tells Gael to get rid of Ingrid.
good one! lol you mean Gabino, no?

Augusto and Lolita... well, that means Lolita moved HIS things out of the bedroom.. (remember Augusto and Carmina had that argument AFTER the wonderful dinner party where Carmina huffed saying she was going to leave the room... so SHE slept in the guest room but when Lolita came to ask whose things to move out she said SHE was staying put, so Lolita moved HIS things out...)
musical chairs is right!

LOVED your depiction of this scene:
Lolita jumps in between them! She will not allow him to hurt Elisa. You can fight me, but unlike your daughter, I’ll fight you back! AND I FIGHT DIRTY! (I just added that in. It would have been cool if she said it!) Elisa cowers behind her. He considers taking on Lolita, but she stares him down. He leaves. Annnnnnnnd on queue. Sobs and Tears.
and i don't blame you for the distraction and describing your impressions of dam's pecs... yes, it will be repeated tomorrow...

And a final word of THANK YOU!! we had a major thunderstorm here in TX, believe it or not it affected BOTH the TX Univision transmission and again the UNIWest transmission so i meant to record from the UNIW what i did not see but the transmission at that time was even worse... so i missed a lot of scenes that you filled me in on. THANK YOU!!
and by the way, again great recap! I was smiling/giggling from start to end...

and to all mothers out there Happy mother's day!!!

Karen,
I'm still somewhat shocked Fina ordered a murder/disappearance. I know those who carry out the mission usually don't make so I think the boss is in trouble too.
the set-up is already there... Ingrid told Kenya that she wanted to hang around another two days (48 hrs) to finish her business with Gael... and Fina ordered Gabino to take care of that buznez within 24 hrs... so i really doubt Ingrid will survive this coming week. poor Gael....

if i haven't said it before, Cynderella, LOVED your title! that was dead on!

couple more things...
Kenia says that she doesn’t care if he knows.
what Kenya told Ingrid was that she was not interested in Gael finding out, she just wanted to get to know her brother and be close to him. that was enough for her.

when Padre Loopy engaged in the loud argument with Gael was when Gael spilled the little detail about him and Elisa hugging when Damian arrived to the fields... (Padre can tell Damian did not say anything BECAUSE Gael and Elisa were hugging), that is why Padre Loopy got mad. Gael argues 'what is wrong with showing her my affection, you have always taught me to express my feelings to everyone!', so Padre Loopy gets honest and tells Gael that Dam is in love with Elisa too.

Thanks Martaivett, those details are important and easy to miss. Just like in English, words can have many meanings and change meaning depending on the context, so those differences are subtle but important.
thank you for clearing them up.

btw, that jumping by Padre Loopy was my fav moment of the ep, along with Lola giving it to Augusto when he tried to hurt Elisa and Horacio stepping in when Gael arrived at the horse stables at Harango..
PL: Ay hijole contigo, mijito!! Hombreeeee!!!
LOL!

JudyB: I'm glad I could make you laugh!

Vivi, I don't think that Gabby will hurt Ingrid. He's too sprung over her. He whines because she doesn't pay attention to him and follows her around like a little puppy. That's why I said he Nerfies were doing all the thinking when Alfonsina was talking to him. I don't know how he's gonna get around it. My thought is that Ingrid will tell him what she's got on Alfonsina and then they will join forces and blackmail her together. Just my stupid prediction.

OK, I know I'm probably alone at this little table, but I wasn't convinced that Alfonsina actually ordered a hit. Isn't it possible that she really just wanted Ingrid out of town? She does in general seem to think that getting people away from La Ermita is enough, as if it's the only place in the world that's real.

Or not. If she goes to the Big House, can I have her clothes?

I seriously don't mean to make my recaps naughty. I just end up with all of the episodes where the men are standing around naked for no reason. That Cenote scene was so dumb, so I camped it up. He was hot because he's been strolling around in a Members Only Jacket ALL Day! Why does he go to the cenote all alone, strip and bathe? His movements were exaggerated and comical. I do like to look at him. He is one fine specimen. But, the naked scenes are always on Friday...so I write about them.

Blue Lass, I don't think she ordered a hit either. I think she wants her gone. The problem is, she will never be able to get rid of her unless she kills her. What will stop her from coming back for more money if Gabby doesn't kill/maim her.

Marta: thanks for your corrections.

couple more things...
Kenya and Gael at fields...
Gael asks her how come she found out he was Ingrid's son before he did. She reminds him he left her with Ingrid when he went to visit her at hospital. Ingrid was consoling her (for losing her baby) so Ingrid told her she also lost a baby, or rather left him at the door of the church many years before, and that that baby was Gael.
She adds that Gael should not trust Ingrid, that she is not convinced Ingrid is there to get back with him, but for some other agenda that Kenya is not trusting. Kenya does not want Ingrid to hurt Gael again (if it turns out Ingrid is there for some other agenda).

and i froze the dvdr at the check Ingrid showed Kenya... it was for 1.5 Million pesos (about $150K).

Cynderella, yw... i am glad i was able to help out with whatever i got in and out of the storm transmission skips.

Cynderella, Blue... i also dont think Alfie officially ordered Gabino to kill Ingrid... but given Gabino's history with Alfie..
remember when he burned the invernadero she had asked him to find a way to get Augusto ruined AND gone from town... well, he sort of got Augusto ruined, but Augusto did not leave town...
and now she gives Gabino another similar order... get rid of Ingrid..
I agree that she seems to automatically think if people leave town they will stop mortifying her permanently, but history should have taught her otherwise.. Kenya only took about 10 hrs to make a turnaround AFTER she had promised Alfie she would leave town with the check she gave her... Alfie should learn from her own mistakes but she is so up there in the clouds thinking she can rule the world, she can't see what is happening under her nose.

As I was watching Friday, it struck me, and wondered if anyone else is wondering, where is Braulio? (I'm fine that Vicente who seems to have gotten lost in the warehouse somewhere.) Thought maybe the day Lola was looking for Horacio we'd get him surface.

From what everyone is thinking, I'll be happy if Gab maybe sacrifices his Nerf balls and tells Ingrid to get out of town and fast. I'm thinking it's too early to spring the Rosendo father of the year news on Gael and Dam, so let her vamos and come back at the end to wreak her venom. I really do hate this character.

Cynderella, absolutely fabulous! So many of your hilarious descriptions have been mentioned, but I wanted to highlight a couple of my favorites anyway:

“You are messing up my game, man!!!!!”

“Carmina is sitting in front of her vanity.  Must I be treated to two images of her?”

I also loved the blocking intro!

The only thing missing from your tribute to Kathleen Woodiwiss, “Ashes in the Wind,” or the best of Harlequin Romance beach reads is a mention of.........breeches, but what are you going to do, the guys are all wearing blue jeans!!!

Wonderful job, a joy to read Cynderella.

It’s interesting, the Alfosina/Gabino/Ingrid matter peaked my imagination too. Gabino has a choice, his work or his love (?) life, I think his work will win. His, “mi Doña” was a little reminiscent of the dialogue in Doña Barbara, and that was chilling. I felt that Alfie was hinting for Ingrid to disappear, not be killed, but “La Doña” has to know that Gabino does things to an extreme. Those of us who watched, “Teresa,” saw Isabella Camil, Paloma/Ingrid, disappear quickly, so I wouldn’t be surprised is she is a goner; but Daisy, it’s logical that the writers might want her back in the end to shake things up again. The next few days should be very interesting.

Thanks for all the clarifications, this novela is more difficult to understand than others! Mumbling, clenched teeth, shouting, crying and loud weird music aren’t helpful!

Cynderella, I am so glad you are naughty with your recaps, however innocent you need to proclaim yourself! You gave us all such tear provoking, side aching laughter all the way through it. Masterful! OMG there are such fine specimins of both genders here.

I was watching a day time rerun of some telenovela lately which had Sabine Moussier (Mouthcateer) in an earlier version of herself she had not earned enough to buy guppy lips or buckets of eye circling black stuff. She was actually really pretty and didn't talk in such false sounding horsedrama ways either. Too bad she has done all this to herself. She was funny in the dinner scene the other night though.

Guera, I am so jealous of you being in Cuba. I know this is Abismo's site but since I will be recapping Una Familia tomorrow night, I noticed too that the UFCS replacement listing is for 5/24 Thursday. I don't know if it means tht UFCS ends on Wed. or before with something filling in a few nights? Maybe we will get a date posting for the finale tomorrow night.

Thanks Cheryl. I'm not saying that I'm innocent. I'm just saying that I'm only reporting what I see. On my nights, the men have been shirtless. They are fun to look at. Paolo has a nice body, but he doesn't do anything for me. I don't like his hair. So, if he ever takes his clothes off on a Friday, I don't know if I will be able to write such a colorful description of him. Also, I'm not the crazy about Gael (his lips disturb me). It looks like he puts on pink lipstick and that combined with his long hair (although it's pretty)...well I like MANLY men. I'm rambling. K, I would write a beautiful or sexy (depending on what he's doing) of Guido. I think he's kind of cute. I'm sick. I know.

Cynderella, lol. And what are your thoughts if you saw Augusto without clothes, slowly toweling off after a shower while he is thinking of Kenia?

Cynderella, when I watched the last scene I thanked the telenovela gods that you were recapping this episode. You rocked all the way through but your last paragraph was a masterpiece.

Some of my favorite Cynderellaisms:

Re Carmina in the mirror: "Must I be treated to two images of her?"

"Unfortunately, I can’t storm out with him because I have committed myself to watching on Friday nights."

Your Italian ID system is interesting. I do believe Padre and Gael might be more Italian than "the Italians".

"Big Blue NERF balls"

And the best line from the best paragraph ever: "Urgent fingers, tearing at buttons, rush to release a body shackled by the constraints of a white linen prison!" Ay ay ay!!

My take on the Fina/Gabino scene was that she did not want him to murder Ingrid, just to persuade her to leave town. If Fina only knew...

Cynderella, you are a naughty sweetie for making me laugh so hard at Dam Fine's bare chest scene. When he ripped his shirt off I yelled "Finally!!" Thanks amiga.

Thanks Sharkbait. C'mon. I've watched all of the Godfather movies, the Goodfellas and pert near ALL dinero and Pesci movies. I've also watched every episode of Everybody loves Raymond. I grew up with a girl named Melissa Saviola and a girl from my high school had a real live born in Italy father. Based on my prejudice and stereotypical views, if the Laduccis (I don't know how to spell it) are Italian. So am I. LOL

CathyX. You'll know how I describe him on the day that he takes his clothes off. He could be build like a MoFa under that beige shirt and thick dark luxurious mane of hair.

Thanks Cynderella for another side-slitting, incredibly entertaining recap. My favorite translation:

"Get your furry little chest over here!"

That's exactly what I heard.

A minor setback for or Augusto support group... not entirely unexpected. He is a project after all.

I'm very worried that Flo may actually be going back to Mexico. Noooo!

Carlos

In rewatching the first scene of the episode, when Damian gives Elisa the folder, he says 'maybe that will be a great start for ...' and i believe he started to say 'no...' as in 'nosotros'(us) but he thought about it again, and since he saw her and Gael embracing when he got there, that is where he assumed Elisa had accepted Gael and said 'los dos', which should be interpreted as 'the two of you'...

Cynderella,

I know I'm late to the party--had to chaperone my kids band trip--but I agree with everyone who said this was your BEST! OMG, hilarious!

Loved the "treasure tra--RAMONA!" paragraph! And the gangsta interpretation of the convo between Dam and Gael. Genius! Also all the stuff about the Members Only jacket and "Not in that shirt!" HAHAHA!

Marta--snaps to you for your awesome interpretations and for FREEZING THE DVR AND GETTING THE AMOUNT OF THE CHECK! You are my hero! When she flashed that check I thought the dollar amount was blocked by a potted plant.

I have so much to do today but couldn't resist reading this blog and it has been SO WORTH IT!!!

Thank you, amigas!

Katy

yes the check said 'Un Millon Quinientos Mil Pesos' (the 'pesos was only viewable very briefly but the rest was very easy to figure out...
i still think $150K is fairly cheap compared to what should be half of the entire Arango empire there... and with Ingrid's lifestyle or the lifestyle she seemed to be used to, it would barely be enough for 6 mos... so not sure how she was so happy with just that... and if that was the amount for Ingrid, the check for Kenya must not have been more than $50K

Even more detail--thank you, Marta!

I agree that Ingrid sold out relatively cheaply. If we're talking about a multi million dollar empire that her son could claim heir to--Kenia was right; her check was worth nada. I thought it was a very telling scene when Ingrid said she was outta there because she didn't think she could get more money out of Gael. Her true colors really came through; no care about seeing her long lost son again or the fact that she's essentially robbing him of a fortune by not telling him he's an Arango. Just all about what's best for her.

I want one of those check books like Alfonsinas where I can write hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans and hush money without batting an eyelash. Maybe she should have that cash in the stock market vs. just sitting in her checking account! But whatever! I'm still jealous!

Katy

Her true colors really came through; no care about seeing her long lost son again or the fact that she's essentially robbing him of a fortune by not telling him he's an Arango. Just all about what's best for her.

absolutely Katy, not only her true colors, but she has come to know Gael well enough in such a short time to know HE WOULD NOT go for the 'hey it turns out i am an Arango too and I demand my half!!' ranting to Alfie. Gael is simply not like that, he could care less for the money. what he will be mad about is the emotional hardship he had to go through, that Alfie knew who he was and still treated him like trash. he won't feel so bad for his father once he knows Rosendo did care about him.
So as evil as it makes her look, Ingrid is very right in realizing she won't get anything out of Gael's identity. if he doesn't want it there is no way she can 'share it with him'.

Gael takes HUGE OFFENSE in people hiding things from him and LYING to him... so he will be mad... at Ingrid, at Kenya and even at Padre Loopy (for a while anyway).

Sylvia, or anyone else with Comcast:
I just got off the phone with them and they said I cannot get English subtitles on my Spanish shows. Is that true? Blue suggested going to CC4, but that doesn't do anything.
Ayudeme, por favor!
R la O

R la O, my TV is so old I cannot get anything beyond CC2. Also, my Spanish subtitles are so crappy they aren't much help either. It's very annoying. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Rosemary la Otra try CC3 (but its almost gibberish sometimes). I can get them on my new tv, but I can tape them. I can watch it once, then watch it over and over again with spanish subtitles and they are gibberish as well. It's horrible. I don't have comcast, but its' something.

My tv is new so you'd think I could get it. Maybe I will call again tonight and get a different person who can help me better. If my Premiere Recap tomorrow for El Tal is full of holes and confusion, you will know I called and got the same person. What are the odds of calling India and speaking to the same person twice? Probably the same as Kenia running into her long lost brother while searching for her baby daddy.

El Tal itself is full of holes and confusion, so I think you're covered. ;}

Really funny and fantastic recap Cynderella!

The actor playing Guido is Italian-Mexican but neither Flo nor Paolo are. Italians usually lose the accent extremely quickly so I don't think putting on an accent is necessary if the characters have so much time living/visiting Mexico, I guess that's why they picked that nationality. Although I don't understand why they had to be from another country at all, in Cañaveral they were from Mexico City.

Marta: A million and a half of pesos is enough for me. I don't think Ingrid would ever have a chance in live to see that much money together so I can believe it seems like alot to her. With the kind of job she does she probably makes around 8 thousand pesos a month at the most if she's very lucky (96 thousand pesos a year), so that's at least more than fifteen times what she'd make in a year.

Jarocha
