Abismo de pasión #42 5/8/12: Baa, Baa, Blond Sheep, Have you any Bull?

Abismo de Pasion 42
Baa, Baa, Blond Sheep, Have you any Bull?

Yes, ma’am, yes ma’am, three bags full.

Baa, Baa, Blond Sheep

O holy day! The folks at Casa Arrango have just been witness to a miracle—Florencia Landucchi can walk! Or at least she can jump up from her bed when hot coffee is deliberately spilled in her lap. But, Lo, our faithful watchers are shocked and disappointed to see that although Flo popped up out of her guest bed like a troublesome flea, she was not touched by an angel after all.  No need to call Father Loopy Lupe to document a supernatural occurrence. This was as simple as Florencia falling into the web of La Ermita’s resident Black Widow, Alfonsina Arrango.

The trap was simple. Alfonsina spots maid Antonia carrying a breakfast tray to invalid Florencia. Alfie, ever opportunistic, offers to deliver the tray full of breakfast and hot beverages to Poor, Poor, Florencia. While handing the tray of breakfast to Flo, Alfonsina deliberately drops a cup of hot coffee in Flo’s lap. Ouchee! Flo reacts with pain, no surprise there. When Alfie questions her about this, Flo announces that just because she can’t move her legs does not mean she can’t feel anything! Huh.

Now Alfonsina stalks out into the hallway, closing the door to Flo’s room behind her, and, clever spider, immediately turns back around and re-enters Flo's room, only to discover her putative-suegra standing on her own two feet, brushing hot coffee off her lap. Uh oh.

You. Are. So. Busted, Florencia. Flo comes back with a weak attack to explain her deception. A heavily edited version of this conversation follows:

Alfonsina: “So it was all false, you lying little twirp!”
Flo -  “What am I supposed to do? I am desperate!”
Alfonsina – “You should have trusted me.”
Recapper – “Really, Alfonsina?”
Alfonsina – “Tell me one thing. Did you mess with the horse to make this fake accident/injury happen?
Flo – (Indignant!) “No I am not crazy!”
Recapper – “Not crazy maybe but dumb as a flat of bricks, Blondie.”
Flo: (singing) “I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows. I believe if Damian and I go back to Mexico all will be as before.”
Alfonsina now launches into a haughty beat-down of Florencia for her lying, lying ways. Then, the bedroom door flies open again. It’s Daddy Guido, here to see his ailing princess. Daddy Guido rushes to Florencia’s bedside and witnesses her amazing recovery.

“O frabjous day!“ sings the silver fox.
“Yes, your daughter has recuperated,” Alfonsina snaps at Gullible Guido as she stalks out the door in knee-high boots and a sleeveless dress. Alfie, I’m rooting for you if you take Florencia down. Bitch looks real good on you.

These Boots Are Made For Walkin’
Elisa, Avenging Angel, is showing a bit of a split in her personality. It seems that when she is not in her room, crying—she is capable of kicking some butt. She heads out to the Rectory to chat with Father Lupe about her friend, Gael. She is wearing some serious cowboy boots that make her look a little scary and a little hot. It is nice to see that Elisa is as protective of Gael as he is of her.

Elisa talks to Padre Lupe about Ingrid being Gael’s mother. This is such a shock! Elisa is worried. She reminds the Good Padre to HAVE PATIENCE with his “son”, because Lupe is just like a Father to Gael. The poor guy is very confused—he didn’t even know his mother was alive. Now he finds out that his mother is alive, that she abandoned him for 25 or so years and that she has horrible taste in men, her man-of-the-moment being the Greasy but ever stare-worthy GABINO MENDOZA (yep, that’s intentional all-caps). That’s a lot of news for anybody to absorb.

Father Guadalupe comes back at Elisa with a question about her feelings for his nephew Damian. Elisa confesses that she loves Damian more than her life but she doesn’t think she and Damian can have happiness. Florencia is an obstacle to their relationship even though she is not pregnant—now she is seriously injured!  Whoo-hoo! Your recapper yells. You may not find out this episode, Elisa, but Flo is not as injured as you AND Damian think she is!

Padre Guadalupe tells Elisa about Gael seeing Ingrid in a compromising position with GABINO MENDOZA at the only Inn in La Ermita. Wow. Elisa decides to take matters with Ingrid and Gael into her own hands. She heads on over to the Inn to have a talk with Ingrid and lay down the law. Elisa tells Ingrid that she has known Gael since they were children. He has suffered much because of his lack of a family, If Ingrid is here to be a real family for Gael, very good. But if not, if her intentions are not pure, Elisa warns her that she will not let Ingrid hurt Gael. He has many friends who care about him. She repeats that she will not let Ingrid hurt him. This recapper thinks this all feels like bluff and bluster on ‘Lisa’s part. How is she going to protect Gael when she cannot protect herself? Oh well, Elisa’s intentions are good.

Damian Has a Sad Day at the Procesadora
Over at the pro-ces- a-dor-a, Damain is having a sad day, clearing up his affairs. He pushes paper around his desk, signs some documents and has a goodbye conversation with Maru. She is worried about all the people who work at the Procesadora now that Damian is leaving. Everyone at the procesadora was so happy with Damian there. Still, she wishes him well in his future with Florencia. She also mentions the incident with GABINO MENDOZA and Paloma.

On a sartorial note—Why, my friends, is Damian wearing a quilted vest at work in the Yucatan? Your recapper is reliably informed by sources on the Weather Channel that the coldest it might ever be in Merida is 84 degrees avg. daytime temp in January, the coolest month. Surely a down vest is overkill?

GABINO MENDOZA Menaces
GABINO menaces. It is what he does when he is not looking crazy or boffing maidens fair and foul. First, in this episode he menaces Horacio. When he harasses Horacio, he seems very stressed and has a severe facial tic. Hmmm, your Recapper wonders, “Does Gabino have a little problem with, say, cocaine??? “ Next he menaces Antonia, whom he really seems to enjoy torturing. She calls him a snake and he hisses as he leaves. Next Gabino hassles Maru back at the office. “Where is Ingrid?” he asks. She called in sick. “Why wasn’t I told?” he menaces Maru.

Carmina Makes  a Phone Call
At Casa Castañon, Carmina calls Paolo at the procesadora. As usual she speaks mush-mouth Spanish but I think she asks if Paolo knows to whom he is speaking. Paolo, the would-be rapist of her niece and stepdaughter, asks Carmina, “To what does he owe the pleasure of this phone call?”  After some flirtation with the dirtbag, she tries to set Elisa up—again.

Tia Carmina you are a toxic waste dump. You would be a Superfund site in the US. Your next rebirth could be as an intestinal parasite. Pardon me, dear readers. You Recapper became a little heated thinking about Carmina’s as yet unpunished behavior.  Just now, Augusto walks in and Agent Orange hangs up on Paolo when she sees the Toad. He stares at her like an amphibian and blinks his eyes slowly, in a toad-like way. They have a little tussle over the phone call but Carmina wiggles out of a fight—this time.

Gael Rejects His Mother (Yeah!)
The action now moves to the only inn in La Ermita, where we find Gael knocking on the door of Ingrid’s room. Ingrid opens the door to Gael.
Gael – “I hope that you don’t have anyone with you?” (This is a dig at Ingrid—last time she was with GABINO MENDOZA.)
Gael – “What are you doing here in La Ermita after all these years?”
Ingrid – Isn’t it obvious?
Gael – “No, it is not obvious Senora. All these years and I heard nothing from you and now you are here. Why are you here?”
Now Ingrid tries to play the victim
Ingrid – “You don’t understand. It was very hard. I was a mess, very bad! I had no money and my life was a disaster. So I left you with Father Guadalupe.”
Gael – (Not buying her program)”What is my father’s name?”
Ingrid – (Reaching out for Gael’s hand.) “Actually, I am here. I am here.”
Gael –(Rejecting her). “No Senora. Even if you stay I don’t have a father or a mother.” Gawd, we have yet ANOTHER bad parent in this novella.

Paolo has a word with Enrique
Enrique comes into Paolo’s office at the Procesadora.
Paolo – “My niece is headed out for Mexico to see a specialist. I know you are interested in her. In a word, buddy, FUGEDDABOUTIT. She is never going to end things with Damian.”

Alfonsina Gives Flo Hell
Alfonsina  is opening mail with a letter opener that she looks like she would like to use to stab Florencia. Flo tries a soft opening with Fina, thanking her for not outing Flo to her Papa. But Alfonsina is still furious. She lectures Florencia on the stupidity of her lies and traps. She warns her that she is no longer sure that Flo is the right woman for Damian.
“I am the solution for you Florencia. Too bad you did not make me an ally instead of an enemy.”

Paloma and Elisa Run Into Damian
Elisa tells Paloma that Damian is going to Mexico to seek medical attention for Florencia because her injury is bad. She also tells Paloma of Gael’s discovery of his birth mother. They go to lunch where they run into Damian. (It is a small town, isn’t it?) Damian asks Paloma why she was looking for him at the procesadora. Elisa gives Paloma the stink-eye so that she hedges with Damian. Damian says a supposedly ominous “Adios” to Elisa. Viewerville is not impressed. We know that Flo can walk and Damian may not leave at all. Paloma berates Elisa for not fighting for Damian. Blah, blah, blah, Paloma.

Reconciliation at the Rectory
Gael comes into the Rectory. Padre Guadalupe says, “I am sorry, Gael.” Lupe has tears in his eyes as he says, “You know you are my son.” They are fully reconciled when Gael tells the Padre that he understands that Lupe must keep the secrets of the confessional. Lupe looks to heaven and says, “Gracias, Senor.”

Sweetest scene of the night. Now the phone rings. It is Kenia for Gael. The subject of Ingrid is raised and Kenia is shocked that Gael knows Ingrid is his mother! Gael is on to her immediately. “You already knew this?” he asks. “How is this possible?” Kenia  freaks out and hangs up on Gael, but not until she has told him she is in Merida.

Ingrid Goes to Hacienda Arrango
Antonia announces that Fina has a visitor. It is Ingrid! Alfonsina is very taken aback as she recognizes the side curls and says, “Ingrid?”. What are you doing here? We have nothing in common.”

“Oh, but you are wrong, Alfonsina, says Ingrid. ’We have many things in common. We have Rosendo in common.”
Alfie - “You had a son with my man. What do you want?”
Ingrid – “Money. I want money.”
Alfie – “You will not get even one cent.”
Ingrid – “Then I will have to talk to Damian. He needs to hear about his half-brother. He needs to know the truth plus all the legal consequences.”
Alfie – “Get out of my house!”
Ingrid – “You will buy my silence or I will tell the whole world  that Gael is an Arrango.”
With that parting shot, Ingrid slithers out of the house.

The Brothers Arrango
Gael and Damian meet. Damian explains that tomorrow he is going to Mexico. It is for  Florencia. Damian asks Gael to care for Elisa and then tells him that he is more than an amigo—he is a brother. Goodbye and good luck.

Florencia Decides To Get Help From Her Papa
Over at Hacienda Arrango Florencia leans in for the manipulation with her dear father. She tells Guido that things are not the same between she and Damian. “He even broke up with me. He has changed very much toward me. Papa.”  She asks her father to help convince Damian to go to Mexico. Of course, Guido agrees.

Auggie Get Your Gun
Elisa is walking home when, right in front of her own house, Paolo stalks her. The nerve!
“Why are you hassling me Paolo?”, Elisa asks. Paolo won’t let her pass. He menaces, “I don’t believe you want a scandal.”
Elisa says, “Leave me in peace. Paolo. Get out!” This time when Paolo won’t relent she yells, “Papa! Papa! Papa!” Augusto hears her and finally does something right. He gets his shotgun, runs outside and points it at Paolo. Paolo makes a speedy exit on his moto and Augusto tells Elisa to get in the house.

Elisa thanks her father. But Augusto responds in his usual crass fashion. “Don’t thank me. You invite scandal.” He insults her virtue again. “Good grief, Dad, Elisa says. “What do you want me to do ? Stay in my room all day?”
“That is not a bad idea,” mumbles Augusto. Elisa stalks off. Carmina mouths off about Elisa provoking Paolo, Augusto tells her to stuff it and Augusto goes to his study and raw lips a bottle of whiskey. Lovely family.

She Can Walk!
Damian comes into the Hacienda and sees Flo sitting up in the sala with Guido. She can walk! Flo walks into his arms. He is so happy. Guido is so happy. Flo is so happy.
Tomorrow, first thing they will all go to Mexico to see the specialist. Flo promises to recuperate and be happy with Damian. He begins to look slightly trapped.

Not Tonight, Dear, I Have a Headache

GABINO is waiting for Ingrid in her room. He actually looks concerned about her. Why did she call in sick? He asks. Is she really sick? She says she just had a headache. Gabino asks, “Are you tired of me. You should trust me more.” Ingrid repeats that she is tired and sends him away. GABINO MENDOZA is a little taken aback at the rejection.

Not Much More

·      In her room, Elisa and Lolita talk about Augusto defending her tonight. But he doesn’t trust her. Repeat.
·      Ramona and Paloma talk about Gael’s discovery of a newfound Mama. Ramona looks anxious.
·
How Very…..Interesting
Alfonsina is in her room getting ready for bed. In frustration, she throws and breaks a glass object.  Damian comes in and asks what is wrong. Alfonsina says she is fine. Damian remarks that it is very INTERESTING that Flo can walk, but Alfonsina says, “Right now the most important thing is the health of your fiancé.”  Damian agrees with “Si, si, si, claro.” Damian looks very thoughtfully at the camera. And we CUT…

Call me crazy, but I can’t remember a tear from Elisa. But wait! Did she cry with Lolita at the end? I can’t remember.

Tomorrow
Damian looks like he is on a quest to find the truth about Kenia, the fake pregnancy and Flo’s role in the manipulations. I think Damian has her number.

Well, we can only hope that Flo is outed to Damian tomorrow night. Honestly, the only smart woman in this show is Alfonsina. Alfonsina can sure wear clothes, too. OK, friends, I have a small girl-crush on the spider. She is so...effective!

Let's give Elisa a brain and a break and let her kick some butt, writers. We KNOW Boyer can bring it. I want a heroine worthy of rooting for!

EJ

I agree wholeheartedly with that, Elna June. The writers CAN do better by Elisa and they have truly been giving her more of a raw deal than they should. As badly as Elisa has been kicked through the years in Ermitaville, NO WAY would she have truly believed that her rival for Damian's affections would come to her for help with a pregnancy test and to do the girlfriend thing. Seriously??

I swear to you, it took me a good minute to collect myself enough to read your recap after getting a gander at your Blond Sheep title lead-in. I just knew I was gonna bust a gut over it. LOL! Awesome.

Let's see, Caraymates... what stuck out to me this epi...

Let's try everything. This is my favorite epi so far in the whole show. Had another great laugh at Princess's ineffectiveness against HefFina, gahhhh that was epic. And when Augie chambered a round at Pao, I was cheering like a fool. I hurried up and took a FAST swig of celebration bubbly though because I figured after the commercial I'd probably hate him again. AND of course I was right. He had to spoil things by insulting Elisa anyway. Augie the Amphibian, you are so LAME.

Loved Elisa protecting Gael. Loved Gael telling Ingrate not to get it twisted. Loved Gael and the Padre making up in that understated guy way. Aw. :)

Hated that greasy GABINO chose to keep his shirt on. C'mon, man, you could have tried a little harder than that to get Ingrate to see things your way. *sigh* Welp, maybe next time, Stephe.

EJ said: Tia Carmina you are a toxic waste dump. You would be a Superfund site in the US. Your next rebirth could be as an intestinal parasite. Bravo, dear recapper! Couldn't have said it better myself. An intestinal parasite isn't too terribly far from the rHOach she is now.

Ingrate, you are insane trying to extort money from somebody like HefFina! Just because she gave Kenia something means nothing. The woman would have no problem running down children in an SUV! What do you think she'll do to YOU? Sure, she might give you something, but that's only until she figures out a way to constrict and swallow you whole and get it back. You are a Dumbkov. Wow.

Ruh-roh. Looks like Princess' luck is gonna go even further south with Dah-mi-yang. I can't wait.

EJ, thanks for a witty and thoroughly enjoyable recap. You rock.

Great work and greater snark!

How illogical is it that the doctor tells Assgusto that his daughter is still a virgin (at the advanced age of... 23?) and he still doesn't trust her?

Is there any law enforcement in this town who can do something about Paolo's stalking?

Ingrid the Skank needs to leave, to. She and Paolo would deserve each other if he wouldn't be fixated on girls too young to defend themselves. Maybe Elisa can practice by kicking her butt first.

Love the title. Cheered me right up this morning when I saw it and couldn't wait to dig into the detail--and I love the dialog recaps.

Good stuff last night.( But I'm with Steph--too much clothing on the guys still) Always fun to watch a few people almost bursting blood vessels. Poor Alfi--I swear I was hearing "So you had a bad day" playing in the background for her :). Does sort of crack me up that her undying love for her son is so strong that she still wants to unload him on a skank she caught lying JUST to keep him away from Elisa. Someone needs to hide all the breakables in that house ( though it's the only way for us to see her angry--the woman's face muscles DO NOT MOVE!)

That was enough of the Guppy for me last night. Small doses is plenty. Assgusto--needs. to. die. (sorry- just can't deal with him anymore. He will never change.)And they gave Paolo a computer--hell yeah, the man is actually working!

Padre and Gael just melts my heart. I love how Tracher is showing the confusion and heartache he has to be going thru. Those were some of the saddest, fake smiles he was giving the Padre. Interesting he wanted to confide in Kenia - but nice plot twist to have her blow the cover already. Ans his smackdown of Irritating--perfection: "“No Senora. Even if you stay I don’t have a father or a mother.” And it was time to break into the Happy Dance (though now my back is killing me this morning.)

I like this Elisa that is emerging. Getting in Irritating face was good for her--someone to focus on and at the same time gives her something to make herself stronger. You can see her getting gutsier and more assured. Two whole episodes without a blubber--she got close there with Padre and Lola, but it's like she's working at not caving in. That's our girl.

GABINO - was he not the sweetest little puppy with Ingrid? (Well, actually all of our young studs were batting those puppy eyes last night--even QuiQui)If you didn't know the guy was a cheating, murderous lout you would just melt watching him feel so rejected. But a rejected GABINO is an unhappy GABINO, so the others better be careful around him. I worry...

So I take it that Dam and Flo are still going to leave for a time? Thought maybe that would change, but maybe we need that to get some plot twist in Happy Valley. I do like that we are quite sure how things are going to flow in this TN.

Wow Elna June. You were on fire. Big -time. The headings were all a hoot. And dang it, that wretched song "I believe for every drop of rain that falls...." will be going through my head all day. I will try not to curse you, dear heart.

Favorite lines:
"greasy but stare-worthy" (actually Gabino's hair always seems to be nicely washed, and I love those pale green eyes of his...but I digress)

"mush-mouthed Spanish" (yes, Sabine's collagen lip treatment is really interfering with her ability to pronounce Spanish clearly)

"toxic waste dump...Superfund site....intestinal parasite" (pure genius Elna June!)

"raw lips a bottle of whiskey. Lovely family" (Great summation)

Well I will look forward to watching my recording of this today, now that I have your hilarious commentary (and that wretched song) lodged in my head. Gracias clever and gifted amiga.

EJ, thanks for another great recap. I particularly enjoyed your rant on the Orange Menace and her attempts to get Elisa raped. I must admit that while I like Sergio Mayer (Paolo), his character has crossed the line with Elisa and harassing her again, after an attempted rape no less, is icky.

daisynjay - ITA regarding the Toad. If he were to vanish, I'd been pleased as punch.

Did I hear this or make it up? When Ramona and Paloma were talking about Gael, Ramona asked how Paloma would feel if Pal learned her parents weren't dead. Pal responded that she would not speak to Grandma again. Unfortunately I think, if I did hear this, its a foreshadowing of things to come.

Fabulous recap EJ, and I love the title and headings.

Karen- You did not imagine it. Paloma did indeed say she would NEVER forgive Ramona if it turned out one or both of her parents was really alive. Ramona took a BIG gulp at that. Things to come...

Elisa did not cry at all this episode. She is great when she's in warrior princess mode. I had flashbacks to scenes from Teresa when Angelique and Isabel Camil (Ingrid) had many of these kind of mean girl arguments over the man they both wanted. AB (Teresa) often won.

I think Alfie was all ready to encourage Dam to dump Flor and let her go back to Mexico without him, until Ingrid showed up with her threats to tell him the truth. Now she can't get Dam out of La Emirta fast enough, until she figures out how to deal with Ingrid.

In that conversation it was also revealed that Alfie paid Ingrid well to leave town all those years ago, but she was supposed to take the kid with her. Instead Ingrid seems to have created a bit of future insurance for herself by confessing all to Padre Lupe and leaving the baby with him before skipping town. When Alfie says that no one will believe her, Ingrid says everyone will believe Lupe and she will release him from his confessional secrecy vows. Plus the DNA tests. Alfie certainly has a big problem now. Her Flor and Elisa problem has to take a back seat for the moment.

Vivi, you are always so wonderful to clear up plot points. Thanks. I didn't get all the dialog on the II/Alfi showdown!

I don't know, I think Ramona shouldn't worry too much about Paloma's reaction, considering it's GABINO who we are sure is Pal's daddy dearest (well sperm donor). I would think Pal would understand keeping that one quiet from Pal and from GABINO. (OK, I love the cap thing you started EJ).

Wow, Elna June, this is so entertaining and downright hilarious. I especially enjoy your guarded admiration of Alfonsina. She reminds me of Clemente the autocratic dad in Niña Amada Mia (Eric del Castillo... our Lucio in this) who was such a conniving meddling old rascal.

After he wielded his shotgun so handily and with such promise last night, I've decided to become a full-fledged Augusto booster. I've voiced tepid support for him previously but now I'm completely on board. Sure, he still needs some work (even a makeover) but I truly believe that he is salvageable.

Let's face it, he's nowhere near being the narcissistic despotic psychopath that Rogelio (LQNPA) is and Rog has an incredible following. Of course Augusto isn't quite as cuddly as Rog but I have high hopes for him and predict that everyone will forgive and embrace him before this is over.

I admit... right now he is a project. This may be the first time I've adopted an unpopular male character.

My heart goes out to Flo. Things just don't seem to be working for her right now.

I'm so glad that Gael has patched things up with Padre Lupe.

Carlos

Assgusto didn't improve his image with me. His treatment of Elisa is such that I'm shocked he hasn't tried to force her into a convent. Oh, wait; that's because she'd have more freedom in one.

Is that even still done?

EJ: Great recap and wonderful titles. I read Casa Castañon as Casa Castration - had to go back and check that.

Stuff we learned in this episode:

Rosendo is Gael's daddy and Alfonsina knew it all along (hence her hate of Gael).

Alfonsina paid Ingrid to go away years ago (just like with Kenia)

[OBSERVATION: Shouldn't Alfie be wondering HOW Ingrid knows about the deal with Kenia?]

Gael learns Kenia knew about Ingrid being his mother.

Ramona learns Paloma would never forgive her if she found out Ramona was hiding the existence of a living parent from her.

Didn't Alfonsina insinuate that Florencia wasn't woman enough to hold on to Damian, and that's why he keeps sniffing around Elisa?

Can I interest you in helping support Gabino, Carlos?

Gabino and Antonio (el tal) are the most beautiful villians EVER. I still say that Agosto is not all that bad....I'm not saying anything else. I'm done. OK I lied. He put a rifle in someone's face over that girl AND he told Carmina to leave Elisa alone all in same scene. He's trying. OK. Please don't cuss me out and talk about my mother and my hygiene problems.

here is my full comment on tues night's MAHVELOUS recap by EJ.. will copy to the tues night blog.
EJ!! aawesome title and awesome start!
the silver fox!.. I LIKE IT!! do you mind if I steal that for tonight’s recap? Boy seems I might have some fun tonight with that recap after coming home from my daughter’s Japan trip meeting.

LOVED what Gael told Ingrid right on her face (boy he came close to stare at her with that angry frown, he was maybe 5 inches from her nose!) Just like I told you yesterday, I am an orphan of both father and mother… (So no, I am not your cracker jack prize! you and I are not Best friends instantly as you wanted )

Ingrid tells Alfie: your son is such a nice guy, I am sure the moment he hears that Gael is his brother, he will be more than happy to give him what he deserves… HALF of everything!! (this almost gives Alfie an instant stroke)

Also in the brotherly meeting, Damian kept insisting to Gael to go for broke with Elisa, to try and get her to notice him/give him a chance, not to give up. (I have a feeling that this will make coming episodes even harder for Gael to ‘swallow’ Damian’s words here as sincere…) and it was also funny how Damian warned Gael that his next statement would sound ‘cheap’ (tells him that he is more than an amigo—he is a brother)…
Gael responds: Yeah that sounded REAL cheap but right back at you bro! take care… and I will be here waiting for your return (aqui te espero!)…

Paolo makes a speedy exit on his moto … lol I bet he was about to pee in his pants…

Lovely family. … indeed!

(Damian) begins to look slightly trapped. … again, indeed!

Damian remarks that it is very INTERESTING that Flo can walk … he also said stte of ‘it is strange that you are so eager for us to go to Mex City when you really wanted me to stay put here for good… ‘ Damian looks very thoughtfully … again, indeed!

Call me crazy, but I can’t remember a tear from Elisa. … me either, so this might have been the first ep without her significant waterworks.

Damian looks like he is on a quest to find the truth about Kenia, the fake pregnancy and Flo’s role in the manipulations. I think Damian has her number.
I agree! And if you notice they were out on the road (like the road to and from La Ermita), so he might have crossed paths with her when he was heading out and she was coming back in (maybe she decided to return since now she can relate to Gael as a brother, if she can get him to find out she is Ingrid’s daughter…) … and he was heading away?...

Since it looks like Kenia makes a reappearance soon, I wonder how she's going to get out of telling Gael how she knew Ingrid's relationship to him? She'll have to Arango men (Dam and Gael) prodding her for information on their stalker women. I don't think Kenia is a bad person when she's not under her mother's influence or plotting to hang on to Paolo. I think it's sweet how much she wants a relationship with Gael and wants to protect him from Ingrid.

sorry for arriving so late to the party celebrating some things we have been looking forward to. for some reason i could not get to this page until Sylvia tagged the recap.

UA:
Assgusto didn't improve his image with me. His treatment of Elisa is such that I'm shocked he hasn't tried to force her into a convent.
ITA wholeheartedly!!

Elma June- great and snarky recap !!! Thank you.

doris.

Baaaaa! Great title!! Using a nursery rhyme for this tale is brilliant. Yes, Flo is a blond sheep if there ever was one. EJ, I knew I would be howling through the entire recap.

GABINO MENDOZA in all caps totally cracks me up. You captured him perfectly in your GABINO MENDOZA Menaces section. I almost felt sorry for him when Ingrid rejected him. But I feel worse for her. She finds a hot little treasure trove right off the bat but then discovers he is the town pariah. Choices must be made, dear.

Maybe Ingrid shouldn't have rejected Gabino. She knows that when Alfonsina calls he jumps. Will she figure out that he is not above committing heinous crimes on her behalf? Ingrid should start worrying for her own safety about now.

I have so many favorite lines, but I'm going to ditto a couple of JudyB's:
"toxic waste dump...Superfund site....intestinal parasite" (Pure genius Elna June)

"raw lips a bottle of whiskey. Lovely family" (Great summation)

I, too, will forgive you for putting that dreadful song in my head. I hated it in 7th grade choir and I hate it now. Baaaaa!

Carlos and Cynderella, you are more forgiving people than I for supporting Augusto. I think he should be a hermit.

EJ, I'm trying to think of the perfect description for your clever recap. You have such a masterful way with words, I found this recap DEEPLY SATISFYING. Yes, that is the perfect description.

Elna June, Fabulous title and I love your spider crush in the first comment. I'll be back to read the whole thing later but had to chime in on the accolades. Well done! Screens are still a bit flashy for my new eye lens but will read more later.

Please don't cuss me out and talk about my mother and my hygiene problems.

His treatment of Elisa is such that I'm shocked he hasn't tried to force her into a convent. Oh, wait; that's because she'd have more freedom in one

Urban/Cyndarella: You guys are on fire today.

And Carlos: feel free to see if you can work on Assgusto. If anyone can take that challenge on, you can. And see if you can get him into a good stylist.

G'mornin, all:

Hi Stephe, so great to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed the recap. IA, it looks like Flo's woes are just beginning. I have a feeling Damian will not be very forgiving to Flo when he gets the whole story.

UA: I completely agree with you re: Augusto's lack of logic. He knows his daughter is not a loose woman—and oh, by the way, even if she was sexually active she would still be loveable—but that doesn't fit with his aggressively paranoid world view, so out go the facts and in comes Augusto's little, narrow misogynistic worldview. Ay yi yi.

Daisynjay: I LOVED how Elisa got in Ingrid's face. Even if she is all bark right now it bodes well for her future that she develop a bite.

JudyB:Hello dear JudyB and thank you for the kind words. I know, Gabino's hair is not greasy, you are right. But his character IS greasy, if you know what I mean. JAJAJA.

HI, Karen: Hope all is well for you at this busy end-of-semester time. I, too, like Sergio Meyer and sometimes I want to cut Paolo some slack because I like Sergio so much! No, you did not make up the Paloma/Ramona interaction and the anvil handing over their relationship. I just "forgot" to include it in the recap. Thanks for pointing that out.

EJ

Hello, Vivi! Thanks for your addition regarding the Alfie/Ingrid interaction. In editing I always leave out some plot point or another. Thanks for catching this one. It seems like Alfie would be particularly pithed to have paid off Ingrid and then have Gael foisted on her brother. I hope you are well.

Carlos: Amigo, with you on the job Augusto might be just redeemable, although I can't imagine how that could be accomplished. You are our resident St. Jude, Patron Saint of Lost Causes. Well, you made a believer out of me with your championing of Connie, in Gancho. But I fear Augusto is a harder case. Good thing he has you and Cynderella working for his redemption. First thing he better do when he grows a heart is buy Estefania a decent tombstone. I am still mad at him for that affront.
I am very glad you enjoyed the recap. When will you be recapping again. I miss your mordant wit!

Pasofino: Casa Castration! That's brilliant! You can bet THAT phrase will be stolen and put to good use by this recapper.

EJ

Sylvia: Praise received from a master is always praise indeed. Thank you. That SONG! I know, isn't it just awful? Junior High choir indeed. But it does seem to fit our Blonde Sheep. She is not really evil at all (perhaps I should say "yet") but rather stupidly optimistic and conniving. I love Altair in this role.

Cheryl: I am so glad your second eye surgery went well. I will think kindest thoughts for your healing and 20/20 vision coming up.

Cynderella:
I would not think of saying unkind things about your mother. And your personal hygiene is a personal choice, who am I to judge? But I am warning you, if you keep rooting for this hopeless lost cause of Augusto, I am going to believe you are a saint. And saints don't LUST after handsome villains! No more treasure trails for you, m'dear.

EJ

It has been confirmed by Vivi. No tears for Elisa, Day 1 and counting.

One day at a time, 'Lisa.

EJ

Just remember: if Eliza's still wearing the same dress tonight, it's still Day 1...

I meant to say this after our comments on Cynderella's Friday recap, but the fact that we disagree on our feelings for the characters speaks well for the writing and the acting. The characters are wonderfully three-dimensional. I hated Fina for the longest time but I gotta say, after the last few episodes I have new sort of respect for her. I still wouldn't want to meet her for happy hour, but I admire her strength. GABINO, I might meet him for happy hour but I would stop at one drink. Augusto and Carmina, nope.

Assgusto's shotgun is an extension of his peripheral brain. Neither work very well, but he is very good at shooting down his daughter at every turn. Such a lovable man.

I'm so glad that he has people who love him. I hope he comes through for them in the end.

Anon,
yes Alfonsina knows Gael is Rosendo's kid... but seems like both she and Ingrid ignore that Rosendo DID know that... otherwise why would he support Gael for his first X years?...
so don't be surprised Padre Loopy has some document signed by Rosendo where he gives Gael his surname... and will show that card when it is good for Gael...
and I agree with Ingrid, Rosendo AND Damian are both good men... so when they learn Gael is an Arango they will do what is just.

Kenya returning to town with more info than any of the other villains would like her to have... this will definitely get intersting.

Cynderella, Gabino reminds me of a high school friend that my mother didn't want me to hang around with. He managed to extend his high school career by an extra year. He pretty much had the same effect on girls as Gabino and treated them about the same. My mother predicted prison for him but he ended up being a police detective.

Though I respect your appreciation of Gab, I really can't summon up a lot of enthusiasm for this character. I'm afraid that the bandanna on his hand is an affectation that I find off-putting.

Carlos

Elna June, I would have thought that you would take a professional interest in Augusto. He's a real fixer-upper. Imagine what you could accomplish with him using your skills.

Carlos

Vivi -- Thanks for helping with the Alfie/Ingrid encounter.

Carlos -- You cracked me up with the Agosto might even "use a makeover".

Marta -- Thanks for help with the brotherly meeting. All I can say to that is RUH-ROH.

LOL @Cynderella, you are hilarious! :)

I agree with Sylvia in that it's pretty cool to have a wide variety of characters across the board that everyone likes/supports in this novela. It does indeed says loads about the actors' abilities that they can move us and change us in those ways. I might harp on Fina and Carmina relentlessly, but that's because the actresses are giving me top-notch performances. Bravo, everybody.

Boy, looks like Rosendo and GABINO's main functions in Ermitaville were to seed the entire town with their progeny. Good grief! LOL

I assume Gabino always wears that bandana on his hand to hide a burn from the time he torched the invernadero.

EJ - truly a brilliant recap. I laughed so hard. And I enjoy that you have a little girl crush on indomitable Alfie LOL!

Fixer-uppper? FIXER-UPPER?! Well that's certainly one way to describe Augusto, lol.

I like this new, non-crying Elisa. Now she just needs to move out so she can stop being victimized at home.

I watched this episode online and I found one of the previews very disconcerting in a retchful sort of way. I assume it was not on the televised avances because nobody mentioned it. It involved lovely Kenia taking a refreshing dip in the cenote. Did anyone else see it?

Sylvia,

"It involved lovely Kenia taking a refreshing dip in the cenote. Did anyone else see it?"

No, but now you can rest assured that I shall be watching tonight.

it was odd, for not saying UNREALISTIC, for Ingrid to expect Gael to just come hug her as if it were an instant hot cocoa mix (just add hot water) and whala!!! every tear he has shed and every time he felt 'lowly' because of being an abandoned orphan just goes into thin air!! HECK NO!! esp. not the way she yelled at Padre Loopy, the only loving open arms embrace and fatherly love Gael has had in all these years.
Bravo for the acting... esp Rene and Mark... could easily have been overacted/over the top, but it wasn't.

No, but now you can rest assured that I shall be watching tonight.
LOL Carlos! good one!

Sylvia, some of the 'avances' posted in youtube are from the show 'Hoy' which usually shows over 30 seconds worth of avances, so those would have more than Univision would give us... very much like Despierta America would show extended avances of Eva Luna.

...didn't see the Kenia/cenote advance either. Hmm!

Marta, that explains why there are so many avances and why some of them don't actually show up the next day. I noted in my Monday recap that Gabino tries to collect on Carmina's overdue account but nothing of that nature has happened yet. So I didn't want to give too much detail about Kenia swimming or WHO was peeping at her. I hope it's tonight.

Elna June: Wow! Wow!! I just read this and it was the perfect antidote for a less than stellar day.

This was spectacular. "Flo popped up out of her guest bed like a troublesome flea, she was not touched by an angel after all. No need to call Father Loopy Lupe to document a supernatural occurrence" and "GABINO menaces. It is what he does when he is not looking crazy or boffing maidens fair and foul" were stellar!!

Ingrid's "advantage" is that she doesn't feel. Doesn't care. Her numbness and callousness are obviously endearing her to Gabino. Gabino Mendoza.

Karen, I hope that if Paloma does find out upsetting news about her parents that she doesn't hold it against Ramona. She should take a page from Gael's book.

Too bad Augusto didn't shoot to kill. Paolo is an oxygen waster.

Diana

Ummmm Carlos. When I look at Gabino, I am not looking at his hands. I know he's got them, and I'm so glad that he's got them, but that is not one of the parts of him that interests me....I like his um...eyes.

"Baa, Baa, Blond Sheep, Have you any Bull?

Yes, ma’am, yes ma’am, three bags full."

EJ: Incredible!  There's something to be said about looking at GABINO and thinking of a nursery rhyme, your brain is running on ALL cylinders! Fabulous!

I'm still fascinated with the relationship between Alfie and Flor. Alfie essentially says,  (paraphrasing) Why would you choose a trap that is so hard to sustain like pregnancy or paralysis? Why didn't you consult with me, I've use blood pressure for years with great success, it is an invisible affliction!

Carlos, are you still mixing those fabulous Gancho drinks? I think I'll join you and Cynderella at the Augusto support group table.  I'm in, but we are going to need the drinks before it is all over,

Sandy, you're more than welcome here at our lonely Augusto support group table... unfortunately, no fabulous mixed drinks... right now Cynderella and I are raw-lipping cheap Tequila... and her eyes keep wandering over to the table where Gabino is sitting.

Carlos

Carlos, raw-lipping or no, save some Tequila for me!

Carlos, thank you for the giggle. I have a great visual image right now.

¡Un repescagem fantástico! Love the hilarious description of Orangina's depraved behavior! Your recap was very detailed and complete. One little correction of an error in the first section when referring to Fina's putative "suegra" - Suegra is mother-in-law, so you must have meant "nuera" when referring to Flo.

OMG you guys are so funny. I'm afraid I can't bring myself to sit at the Augusto table...but what do you think they're serving over at the Paolo table? I used to have quite a weakness for Campari & soda...

OK, I have to write a few more lines. I won't give anything away.....but...anyone who watched Wednesday's episode will know that we are in for a TREAT on Thursday! It looks real good so make sure you don't miss it! I am still laughing about your Tia Carmina insults...and the mush mouth Sapnish slayed me!!! JudyB was right on with the collagen lip treatments as a possible cause. I also I remember reading that the actress who plays OrangeHo is actually from Germany. Splains alot, including the blondeness and increbly blue (almost freakish) blue eyes (just like the color of the cenote)! Not too many nordic Mejicanos. Her Spanish accent rrrealllly sucks. I thought it was my listening skills, but I don't have much trouble with the other actors(except Gabino - what is with his Spanish? - Don't know where he comes from , but he doesn't appear to be too LATINO looking either.) And what is with Disgusto Agosto and his hair(?). It looks loke something he dredged up from the bottom of the cenote! YYYYCCCHHH. He and pumpkin-head deserve each other. They both are in serious need of a makeover. Orangeade is such a HO. The only one maybe worse than her is Inbed Ingrid with her bizarre spiral curly cues. We need to mark on the calendar that she actually did not put out and spread her legs on at least one occasion when she rejected GRABINO (I concur with JudyB that he does not seem to be greasy, just a slimy). OK for now. Don't miss Thursday or at least watch it on the Univision web-site on Friday.

Sorry for the spelling errors. I am a terrible typist and I get a little carried away when I am on a roll.
