Abismo de Pasion Fly on the Wall Tour, 2012
Abismo de Pasion # 47 5/15/2012
Elisa's ramerawear sewing class is hysterical as is Carmina's tanning bed dinners.
I missed bits last night thanks to an ill-timed phone call from Offspring, so I missed the slap. I will have to go back and watch it.
Elisa is a fool for not taking Kenia's help.
Paloma is an idiot for appealing to Gael's baser nature...but I sort of understand it.
Seriously, this was absolute genius EJ. All the recappers are knocking it out of the park for this TN. I actually was like you that last couple episodes were "meh", but we got a few interesting turns last night.
Alfi is losing some control, and the lady is not liking it. Dam sure let Mama have it too and I could swear there was ever the slightest twitch of regret I saw on her face. Tough, it was deserved.
Mr. Bandanahand now is on to Irritating. Anyone else think her days are numbered now? He may just follow Alfi's demands after all ( to the extreme?)
Kenia spilled to Elisa--another anvil lining up? So does Gael find out soon?
Begona is a dredge, but now she will kill Paloma's reputation in town. I so wanted Ramona to slap that woman silly. But I'm just wondering about the Doc and Pal...maybe nothing, but well, I guess we'll see.
And as for Paloma, color me surprised she actually was seducing Gael. Did not see that coming...and try as I might, could not get off the bus in time to be the fly on the wall so I could check out those abs...er, I mean that scene...as the fly on the wall. (Thank you writers--I will be tuning in right on time tonight to get that replay!)
So anytime everyone would like to head back on the bus tour...I'm in. Hopefully they will need volunteers for the cenote...
"Asshat louts." LOL!
Hahaha... Kenia following Augie. Girl is determined to stay on his radar. :) (hopes nobody noticed the Dos Equis I grabbed before we headed out of the cantina)
Man, was it great seeing Dah-mi-yang throw HefFina's "Holy Sacrifice" up in her face or what? Loved. That. And the writers did a good job with keeping consistence--Damian practiced what he preached by continuing to work with Rique just like he insists on working with Elisa, bidnez is bidnez. (though he does have extra incentive with Elisa, heheh, two of them)
OMG, the Ingrate is living in the Blue House of Shame. Pretty doggone appropriate, if you ask me.
I was in Taxi #1 that went to the Rectory and on to Dr. Tovar’s, and I must say that was one weird, high-elevation slap that Be-Gone gave Paloma. I didn't even know the human arm could take that kind of position when delivering a slap. How did she not dislocate it on the upsweep? *sigh* Who knows. What I do know is I laughed like a mofo and wished Paloma would've knocked the fool out of her.
EJ said: Some took Taxi #3 to Kenia’s House. I am pretty sure I saw Carlos in that car. hehehe :)
Loved seeing the picture of Estefy and Blanca... (sob)
GABINO MENDOZA is frickin scary when someone weaker than he is pisses him off. I thought the Ingrate was pretty much toast.
When Paloma descended upon Gael in his all-or-nothings in his room was when I left the group and stayed behind at the rectory. Even now I'm skulking in his closet, clutching my beer, watching the goings-on through a slit in the door, feeling kind of bad that Paloma didn't get to "make him hers" for at least one night. Dang, Padre and Elisa, y'all's timing is impeccable. *scowl* LOL
This is only temporary. I'll catch up with my tour mates in a few hours. I'm sure I don't have to explain. Half-naked Gael, or the cantina. The cantina, or half-naked Gael. Nope, what has possessed me should be crystal clear.
Again, awesome, EJ. "Thanks for your hard work" seems so lame, but I really mean it! :) Good day, mates. :)
I can't BELIEVE they wouldn't let us swim in the cenote. I wore my non-see-through underwear and everything!
Love how you included references to other recappers and commenters. Sylvia's sympathy is well known, Cynderella having a "moment" with Gabino in the hallway and reluctantly tearing herself away before he could unbutton one more on his shirt (sigh) and the sly surmise that Carlos probably chose to go along to the Kenia tour....so apt.
I bow in homage to your wit and creativity Elna June. Outstanding.
SUCH a Fun filled recap!... I will CERTAINLY GLADLY be the fly on the wall, or in the closet in the rectory room... man its getting hot in here… and the show is AMAZING!... maybe will continue that fly on wall thread on tonight’s recap if it lives to the previews expectation…
Some took Taxi #3 to Kenia’s House. I am pretty sure I saw Carlos in that car.
(what Elisa told Kenya at the end of their conversation was that Elisa would only consider accepting Kenya’s help if she talked to Gael and was honest with him (told him she is his half sister), once she does that, she and Gael and Kenya can talk about her offer of the money help.)
Kenia asks Paloma to have a drink. Paloma disses her totally.
(actually, Paloma was very rough with Kenya, asked Kenya what her intentions were to get close to her and Elisa… Kenya says ‘because you are Gael’s close friends’. Paloma then takes it the wrong way and shouts that Gael would never go for a newcommer from the city, he is more interested in a simpler girl from the hometown… Kenya asks ‘like you?’ Paloma says ‘yeah! Like me!’ Kenya then urges her to go on and tell Gael how she feels.. this totally takes Paloma back… she almost fell back… then she wakes up and says ‘that’s exactly what I will do’… next thing we know she is in Gael’s room)
Tomorrow: Elisa tells Gael that she loves him. (she tells Gael? I think Dam)
Sara and Marta will be leading “Frolic with Gael and Paloma in the Cenote"
LOL!!! You bet!!
Cap’n Sylvia, Cynderella and I will arm wrestle over the “Guided tour of the Procesadora with Damian Arango”
Yeah, sounds like fun! But I will stick with Gael and Paloma.
Elisa teaches “Ramerawear for Dummies” sewing classes
(actually that dress did not reveal as much cleavage, but the one in the previews… who knows… I saw quite a bit of leg skin there…
Carmina teaches the ever-popular “Ten Fast and Easy Dishes to Make in Your Tanning Bed” classs (LOL! But I’ll pass)
And as for Paloma, color me surprised she actually was seducing Gael… yes, daisynjay! And I was surprised on double take when Gael actually responded to her advances…
Man, was it great seeing Dah-mi-yang throw HefFina's "Holy Sacrifice" up in her face or what? Loved. That.
Right there applauding with you sis!
And trying to pick my jaw up hiding with you in the closet at the rectory.. peeking through closet bars… this is GOOD!!!
Now for the important question: can I count Stephe and Marta as "hiding in closet" on my bingo card?
(Oh, and thanks, everybody, for not telling the Lad about, you know, the thing. What happens in La Ermita stays in La Ermita, right?)
(No, wait -- all you have to do is say either "te amo tanto" or the name of the show. That'll do it.)
I'm with Sara and don't understand why Elisa didn't accept Kenia's help. It's not like she won't tell Gael how she got the money or who its from. Perhaps she's anticipating Gael's reaction to the news of his "new" sister.
I also wish Ramona had slapped Begona into next week. Begona is stupid enough to tell that lie all over town. Ick. It will be fun when both she and Alfi realized how Agent Orange played them and the whole town.
The potential run-ins at the love shack could be fun.
I loved Dam letting his Mama have it, it was about time. I wonder how much longer Mama Dearest can keep her forehead from cracking. I saw the first signs last night.
I never knew Paloma was so forward, but I must say that Gael didn't seem to mind.
Who owns Casita Azul? It is turning into a "No Tell Motel".
The "tour" is priceless. Thanks EJ.
falling some stairs (carpeted, please!) is more survivable.
Perhaps she's anticipating Gael's reaction to the news of his "new" sister.
that was my interpretation of Elisa's reaction too... after all Gael thinks Kenya and Ingrid MET at the hospital... so this is another name to add to the 'liar popped-out-of-nowhere relatives'.
We wondered what was holding you up! But totally understand.
"(Oh, and thanks, everybody, for not telling the Lad about, you know, the thing. What happens in La Ermita stays in La Ermita, right?)"
ABS-olutely. Secret is safe with me, as long as you don't spill about the...well...you know. That little sneak out I did from the plant....shhhhhhhh.
Oh, and I thought I saw Carlos checking the flight schedule for Merida and muttering "I'm coming Flo". But it could have been someone else.
I did miss the previews--does Elisa tell Dam she loves him? That's an anvil waiting to happen then because we know that always signal an oncoming major problem this early.
..about Dam letting his Mama have it, never knew Paloma was so forward, Gael didn't seem to mind.
and Who owns Casita Azul? It is turning into a "No Tell Motel".
I was even more surprised by Gael not minding Paloma's advance than by Paloma's advance itself.
And I also wish Ramona would have dealt more sternly with Begonia.
Here is where to find episodes if you're away from your TV.
so yeah all H__ is going to break loose tonight... i can't wait!.. well, i have to wait a bit, have another meeting about my daughter's trip to japan... i will try to hurry them up..
I'm giving Begoña credit for perhaps the most stylish slap I've seen in a TN. Backhand (points for difficulty), on the mark, and finished with a flourish (triumphant upsweep of the hand)... she nailed it.
The episodes best line was from Ramona to Begoña:
"Usted es loca."
No beating around the bush for Ramona.
I'm loving how the truths keep pouring out. I'm guessing that Kenia will reveal her sisterhood to Gael tonight.
I enjoy every scene that has Elisa and Paloma sharing girl talk. I really do feel like a fly on the wall as they eagerly swap gossip. They are so in character.
Kenia is also a delight... she's naughty but one can't help but like her. She is such a wonderful thorn in her mother's side.
Kenia is also a delight... she's naughty but one can't help but like her. She is such a wonderful thorn in her mother's side.
and also a little catalyst to wake up Augusto from his 'down in the dumps for years with a Nemo-Ho of a wife' slump.
Elisa learned Tovar did have a lover.
Elisa & Lupe learned the lengths Paloma will go to sink her hooks in Gael.
Elisa learned Kenia is Gael's half-sister.
Gabino learned Alfonsina gave Ingrid a huge check and that Kenia is Ingrid's daughter.
We learned that Elisa should not go into business, because she is a proud dummy like her daddy.
Elisa's objection is because:
a) she doesn't like Kenia (understandable, since Kenia hatched the plan to use her pee to trick Damian into staying with Florencia)
b) she thought Kenia was trying to move in on Gael (she is, but not in the way Elisa/Paloma thought she is)
c) she thinks Kenia needs to reveal herself to Gael (true---this is a valid reason)
Why I say Elisa is a proud dummy is that every suggestion others have made about raising capital for the land, Elisa has rejected:
She doesn't want Damian/La Anita's help
She doesn't want to mortgage the land
She doesn't want Kenia as an investor
Elisa doesn't have many (or any) options...the other factory rejected her as a vendor and the banks won't give her any credit. What exactly does Elisa want to do? Because if she's rejecting everyone's suggestions, she needs to stop wasting everyone's time and give up the habanero project and do something else.
What a great episode:
Gael/Augusto....yes, you WILL be alone if you don’t change
Gael/Paloma....so sweet even Grandmother Sandy in TN approves
Ingrid/Gabino..they are both playing each other like fiddles and the music ain’t pretty
Gabino/Alfie....Careful with your tone Alfie, you might not make it to the gran finale boda of your beloved son Damien and Elisa , hahaha
Kenia is a very great character. The actress is beautiful and her character is interesting and complex. Wish I had her haircut! (And a few other things!)
I must note a correction here...have to promote my brand, you know...my line of small boutique hotels is called "The Only Place To Stay Inn." The Only Place To Stay Inn La Ermita is a delightful property, affordable enough even for a knocked-up teen on the outs with her mother, yet comfortable enough for the most entitled snob to use for ill-advised hookups. We hope you'll stay with us again soon!
Sounds like an exciting episode. Now I'm eager to see it.
I'll take the cenote tour tonight...
I have no doubt the recappers were the worst behaved of all. Boring you gals are not!
R la O
Thank you for the fun romp. I'll be chuckling all day.
So glad you enjoyed the impromptu tour of La Ermita. My apologies to many regular commentors whom I didn't name in the recap—I am sure we will see you in future trips to La Ermita.
This morning work is interfering with my Caray Caray time.
I hope to see you all later in the Cantina for some real conversation.
One note on last night's haps: What are we to make of our Kenia? The young actress is doing a great job with this part and I like her but don't trust her at all. I want to believe her motives with Gael are pure but she is Ingrid's child after all.
granted, Kenya did take Alfonsina's check... so she is not an angel either.
Ay ay ay, we got to see Gael in his jammies! Be still my heart. My neck hurts from hiding in the closet and craning my neck to look over my amigas.
Kenia is an interesting blend of devious and ingenuous. I like how she is mixing things up in town.
I for one had a great time on the tour. Sounds like daisynjay, Blue Lass, Julia and I will be on cenote tour tomorrow. First a visit to the yerberia and then a cool cenote dive? Or maybe Julia's idea of a night tour? It seems like most of the cenote action happens at night.
Julia, thanks for putting us up in The Only Place To Stay Inn. The place is a lot quieter now that the crazy woman with the curls moved out.
EJ, thanks again amiga. I am in awe of your creativity.
EJ, I'm not sure about Kenia either. As Marta noted, with the poor child's mother she's no saint. However, I do believe she wants to get to know and love her big brother (her reaction to him in the hospital). She still has a bit of a telling the truth problem but lately most of her shenanigans have been directed toward Ingrid. And she's really trying to be friends with Pal and Elisa. Moreover there is a kind of elegant irony to her stealing the check from Ingrid, who got that money b/c of Gael, in order to give him that money. Hence I'm hoping she can be re-rehabilitated. And ITA w/Carlos that its a blast to watch her mess with her mother.
*offers Marta an extra Dos Equis in Gael's closet* *tries not to giggle while ogling his all-or-nothings*
Rosemary said: Who owns Casita Azul? It is turning into a "No Tell Motel". LOL
Carlos said: I'm giving Begoña credit for perhaps the most stylish slap I've seen in a TN. Backhand (points for difficulty), on the mark, and finished with a flourish (triumphant upsweep of the hand)... she nailed it. ROFL! Just seeing it in my head again has me ROLLING. LOL
I took great glee in watching the Ingrate squirm because her ill-gotten gains (el check) was missing. Thank you, Kenia! I mean, stealing ain't a virtue, but neither is blackmail. I've grown to like this girl a lot. But as some of you have already said, I don't quite trust her. Yet. :)
Casita Azul... is turning into a "No Tell Motel." Yeah, I vote for the name "Family Inn" as in my favorite song which some of you know to be "Third Rate Romance."
May I please nominate Ramona to be Reina del Mundo? Is she the only grown up in La Ermita?
Paloma, you naughty girl, well done and good luck!
Kenia, when I'm lurking at the bottom of the cenote, please note that, at my age, I'm likely taking a nap so don't stir the water too badly. That said, Carlos, you're welcome to join me - the scenery can be quite nice. Bring some Shiner Bock.
Probably a stupid question, but has Alfonsina been treated w/ Botox in the "cara" or what?
Elna Jung, the whole tour theme is brilliant!
I wonder if Rosendo took up with Carmina because she reminded him of Estefania or because Carmina knew Estefania had Rosendo AND Augusto's attentions and decided to go for it.
Also, I wonder if Carmina had her eye on Augusto first and was playing the Paloma role of "ignored chick off to the side" while Rosendo & Augusto fought for Estefania...hoping that Estefania would choose Rosendo and then finally Augusto would have eyes for her.....
First, hugs to you and Emilia. I have been missing you both. glad you are still lurking.
Second, yes, it appears that Alfonsina's face has suffered an insult of Botox. This explains why Guerra, who is a fine actress, can only blink her eyes to show emotions.
Now you are all going to laugh at me, but the first patient I ever saw who had had extreme Botox facial injections totally confounded me (at first) in terms of diagnosis. Her affect was so FLAT and didn't match her persona at all. I thought 'stroke', 'Bell's Palsy', and called my physician friend for a consult. You would hardly believe the kinds of dire predictions I made up about her psychological makeup.
Finally, I was able to elicit from the patient that she had just received Botox facial injections, thus explaining her inability to move most facial muscles. I called my doc friend anyway and he laughed himself sick. Oh, well—It took me awhile...
Better watch that cenote. Where Carlos may be a loyal lad of the underwater world, you may find Assgusto lurking as well. You really have to watch that pond scum, it can be pretty awful. Those of us on watch would help, but frankly if any of our fine lads show, I think our attentions may turn elsewhere.
As for Kenia, I can't help but get that tragic feeling about her. I do think she wants desperately, maybe too desperately, to be a part of some family/normal existence. To that end, she'll do what she has to to accomplish that...all with a good heart and ideas, but not entirely above-board. And that may be her undoing since she is young and doesn't know all the characters involved. I worry now about Gabino where she's concerned.
As for Pal, gees, I hate trying to peg her in the same vein as the " outside" women back in the whole Ass/Ros/Steff days. Unless someone can show me flashbacks where Alfi and Carmina really once sweethearts, which I SERIOUSLY doubt, she seems like an entirely new entity in the comparison to me. I keep wanting to go back to Flo as the "other girl" since she fits better with the wealthy "how could you turn me down" profile. And I certainly don't want Pal turning into a bitter dredge either, even temporarily.
Marta, I will bring a pitcher of ice cold fuzzy navels to the closet.
EJ, what a hilarious story about botox. I was laughing so hard I almost choked on my hummus and avocado sandwich.
Elna June - awesomely funny *and* clever recap. Thank you! Ironically, I've been on a real bus tour for the past ten days and you are spot on, girl. You'd make a great tour director. :-)
BTW, Saks is right about the neon. I've seen it this spring in the golf shirts, and today in Florence (yes as in Italy and namesake of the Damien's "ex", I saw a store with shoes and handbags that were in all shiny neon colors.( I also went thru a Ferragamo museo exhibit, but I digress...)
Soooo many motor scooters here..... I finally 'get' why Paolo was so upset over his motorcycle being wrecked.
Ciao for now, y'all.
LOL Okay that did NOT come out right. LOL
*eyeballs Marta's fresh bar beverage*
*agrees with daisynjay's tragic assessment of Kenia*
Botox - for whatever reason, our ophthalmologist advertises that she does Botox injections. Only reason I can see is that the stuff is made by Allergan, and they make a number of ophtalmic products, too.
now i feel bad, i used to get those drinks at my friend's house, fixed by her husband... the wonderful man who used to fix me all those fuzzy navels is no longer with us... may he rest in the peace of God.. i totally miss him...
Blanca Guerra had been Botoxed for at least the last 10 years. I first saw her in La Casa en la Playa and noticed it there.
Believe it or not, the current trend is 20-somethings getting Botox as prevention.
I have never been to South Carolina. Is it beautiful? I take it there are not a lot of Spanish speaking people there, or at the least not in the Hotels.
Thanks for the kind words, dear Vivi. You are such a keen observer and you have a remakrable memory for detail. Sylvia and I were just saying that you and Marta's skills in boservation keep the rest of us recappers honest. Big grin to you and come home safe.
Cap'n Sylvia- we have sampled waay too many gelatos for our own good, from Sorrento to here to Venice where we'll go tomorrow to finish our trip. Crema is my fave! The seven course dinners are killing us (LOL) and I'll be on a serious 'dieta' next week. Tour guides yesterday told us a Ben & Jerry's actually opened here in Florence and closed after 18 months. Duh. .. Seriously, who wants that when there is a gelateria on every block!?!
doris. On the road.
