Abismo de pasión #54 05/26/12: Dalisa Does La Hermita
CNN, Fox News and a Farmer Have a Secret
Gabby Swings his Family Jewels
Vincente Keeps his Teeth
Labels: abismo
"The only thing he can teach you is how to be an incredibly sexy and virile thug with great abs!"
I also loved the "They also aruge over who has less control of their free, Latino and over 21 line"
I am a sucker for sugary sweet romance schtick so I loved last night's episode. Looks like I'll be racapping a doozie...but at least I already have a title (which I think is the hardest thing to come up with.)
I had to watch the episode this morning since one of two sons surprised me coming home last night for the weekend. Is it wrong to admit I fast-forwarded thru most of the Dalisa (so cool!) moments? I'm with you, sickeningly sweet and at the same time kind of a waste. I kept thinking, "yeah, yeah, yeah...you'll be toast tomorrow and ready to hitch up with someone else soon."
"I think she says that she would accept it, but she would hate Elisa forever. " And to my above point--shades of things to come?
Doc Tovar--This year's award for best door slam. He needs to ditch that woman fast before he strangles her. On second thought....
Love Lucio but he sure is turning into everyone's fav non-religious confident. The poor guy is going to get exhausted over all this intrigue. And that conversation with Assgusto? All this time jerkwad DID know that there was only the one suitcase, etc? So with Ramona's reveal of the car coming back to town--could that have been the faintest glimmer of a light bulb coming on?
Your unabast amour for all things Gab is so cute Cynderella. And I have to say, it was fun to watch him panicking Guppyface and pissing off Assgusto all in one fell swoop. (And kicking the crutch out--nice touch).
To some extent, I'm already a little tired of Pal's mooning and weeping over Gael. He was painfully honest with her...though not too tactfully. I guess I'm of the school if he doesn't care for you like you do for him, then let it go. Maybe there is someone else out there for you who would appreciate you back. Never been a fan of the TN "you're broken and nothing without the man you obsess over". Being it's only been a day, I'll let her go, but this better not go on for too much longer. Although, with the wedding probably busting up, the weeper of the day will probably go back to Elisa. Oh joy.
So watching on Hulu+ didn't get the previews so any hints as to how this marriage does NOT come off?
What a way to start the weekend! 4 great titles to a fun re-cap.
Favorites:
-Damian is freaky like that.
-Padre must have run right past them (such a comical visual, Cynder)
-Bulletin about Paloma assuming Elisa's crying role this episode
-They argue over who has less control of their free, Latino and over the age of 21 children.
My favorite part of the episode was the blood test scene. Elisa's face when the needle went in was hysterical. Not only did Damian laugh, I think David Z did too. Now, *that* was a face our cute little young Elisa would have pulled.
R la O
Haven't seen this yet but definitely looking forward to the crutch kick. (I do think the crutches are an improvisation for some muscle impairment in the actress.)
Your riff on Horacio was great as well. Ugh, I hope he DOESN'T get to carry Lolita's milk. I'm in total agreement that she deserves better. In fact I actually dislike Armando A. in this role. It's the hair, I think.
Sylvia...finally got a chance to read your great recap of yesterday this morning as well. Left you a very tardy comment, amiga.
Thanks Cynderella. I always look forward to your disenchanted romantic take on things. You are one funny lady.
“Tonia has a Code Red San Onofre power plant meltdown.”
“If I was Braulio, I would have been handcuffed in the back of the police car by now.“
“Can I get a volunteer to hold her down while I punch her?”
“Are you kidding me? They practically had sex in front of a priest and she’s worried about the people seeing them kiss in a restaurant?”
I haven’t watched this epi yet, but wow, things sure are moving along…
I also really liked your alternative title "Vincente Keeps his Teeth." He'll be the only one ecstatic to find out your boyfriend is his dad. Children in TNs seem to be extremes either angels or little ones you hope someone kidnaps.
It seems they are setting up Gossip Girl to end up like her girlfriend, Alfie - all alone. Her husband had to flee her foolishness, which is why she's giving her son the boot. It's only a matter of time before Sabrina cuts her off too.
Disgusto, Assgusto, ToadHead, CrapDad, Gusto Cat Food = Augusto, Estefania's husband and Elisa's father
Stef, Steffie = Estefania, Elisa's mother & Assgusto's wife
Rosie = Rosendo, Alphonsina's husband and Damian's father
Alfabitch, Alfie, ALF, Fina, BotoxQueen = Alfonsina
Padre, Loopy = Padre Lupe (Guadalupe)
DamNut, DamFine = Damian
(Currently I don't think there are nick names for Elisa or Gael)
Pal = Paloma
Planet of the Apes = Ramona (Paloma's grandma)
Orangina, Nemo, Orange Crush, Tangerine, Tangelo, Cheet-ho, anything referring to something orange = Carmina
Carmeana, Carmeany, Pop Goes the Sleazel = Carmina
Gag, Gabby, Gabs = Gabino
Lolita = Delores (an actual nickname used on the show)
Irritating Ingrid, IrritatING = Ingrid, Gael's mom
Princess Poop, Flo, Flor, Clingwrap = Florencia, Damian's fiancee
Unkapunk, Unkahunk, Tio Tightshirt = Paolo, Florencia's uncle
Useless Vicente = Vicente, Antonia (Toña, Tonita) and Braulio's teenage delinquent son
Gossip Girl, Be-Gone-Ya, Mrs. Kravitz = Begoña, the town gossip
Dr. Toofar, Dr. Whipped, Dr. GrowAPair, Dr. Kravitz = Dr. Edmundo Tovar, Begoña's husband, Sabrina & Enrique's father and Carmina's amante
Quique: Enrique TooFar (Tovar)
We learned Paloma is bordering on pathetic.
Damian has a rare blood type, the same as Rosendo (and Gael will most likely have it too--speculation)
Augusto learned only Rosie's stuff was in the car, not Estefania's; Elisa is going with Damian, and Gabino has Estefania's pearls.
Enrique learned Begoña meant business when she told him to call Tyrone (and you can't use Begoña's phone)
Here's hoping the correct DNA test results find their way into the appropriate hands before something wrong happens.
"Dalisa" -- good one!
I still have to watch my recording.
The story is moving right along. Such a treat in today's world of telenovelas!
Unlike you, Blue, I don't stretch like I should. Maybe this can be the incentive to get down on the floor (after the laundry is folded) to stretch and listen. Also "hiding weapons". lol
Anon207 - LOVE your lists! The nicknames are great. On the Stuff We Learned list, at the bottom...Who is Tyrone?
How great was it when Dr. Tovar was ROTFL after he asked Begonia why she was so worried what Wrinkle-Free thought and she answered "porque ella es verdadera ejemplo seguir"? Gawd, that was funny!
R la O
Genius from titles to end!!!
Dr. Grew A Pair (Gruapair)--LOVE!
Loved "Dalisa"
Suicide hotline speed dial--hilarious! Why is Elisa always the one to cheer poor Paloma up? Here is Paloma sobbing her eyes out and 30 seconds later Elisa is talking bridesmaid dresses!
Loved the line about Padre running past them to get to Lucio! HILARIOUS!
And perhaps my fave was, on the heels of the disturbing pastel tracksuits (SPOT. ON!):
Guido should be seriously wearing a black Kango hat with gold chains, and screaming into a microphone. HAHAHAHA! Don't even know what a Kango hat is but I can picture it!
Oh PLEASE let someone stumble across the fake paternity tests!?
And thanks Anon 207 for all the nicknames!
Brava!
Katy
A fine recap with many priceless jewels but my absolute favorite has to be sung,
"My boyfriend’s back and he’s back at la casa. Hey na Hey na, yeah my boyfriend’s back! Gabby returns to the Casa de Castanon. Carmina opens the door. He wants to remind her that he can take her down in a Mexico City minute. The jewelry is mine, the house is mine. Leave Gingrid alone. He kicks her crutch and lets himself out. He is a keeper. He got Ingrid a house and she doesn’t have to work. He’s sexy and extremely virile. He gets her jewelry. He kidnaps for her and he’s very protective of her. He accepts her faults and realizes that he has his own. What more can I want?"
Cynderella, I am glad to see that you are a girl with some seriously high standards. I mean—A lot of men might buy you a house or jewels or take care of you, but how many will kidnap for you? Reallly, Gabino is a sheep in wolves clothing.
I can't stop laughing.
Thank you for writing this hysterically funny recap of episode 54 of the Passion Pit. You are a true original, Cynder. I hope Gabino appreciates that he is a lucky man.
Elna June
This was too, too funny...
"Children in TNs seem to be extremes either angels or little ones you hope someone kidnaps."
What a great observation! Vicente is such a little snot—I cannot abide that child. I watched the TN with my Mother one day and she observed (in her heavy Irish brogue) about Vicente, "That one is a little too pleased with himself. I'm afraid if he spoke to me like that I would have to slap that smirk right off of his face." Well, my Mom's from a a different generation but I can't say I really disagree with her there.
EJ
I hope Assgu will recollect Este wearing that necklace either the day of or a day or two before the accident, so he'll know she never gave it to Cyn's bf as assurance of his sealed lips.
Too bad he and Elisa can't have a normal talk about it. She could tell Papa about seeing Tia Tangerine pilfering from the jewelry box all those years ago.
Holy crap. Screaming with laughter into a pillow so as not to wake hubby.
R la O you are hysterical!
I am with Sara, I am giggling my little pervee heart out and practicing the exiting motions in front of the full length mirror. Just in case, you know, I happen to see a cenote-like swimming hole here in Sonoma County. So far I don't think I look the same as Elisa. Do you think it might look better if I still had a waist?
Tomorrow, when it is warmer I will practice in the swimming pool in my Miraclesuit. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
EJ
EJ
Cynderella , this was a hilarious, well crafted recap that was a laugh a minute all the way through! One of my favorite parts was the way you juxtaposed discreet, door wide open and Mrs. Kravitz ! You so nailed that scene and really, every other one in the episode! Thanks!
We had several so overwhelmingly ironic statements made in this capitulo, I had to laugh:
(my translations!)
Alfie to Damian: if you continue with Elisa, you can forget about ME and all your inheritance! (Lady, your ONLY SON is planning a wedding without you, he has already "forgotten" you!)
Gab to Augusto: You can't buy back your dead wife's pearl necklace because you have no money. (Gabino, Augusto has no money because YOU burned his barn down!)
Dr.Tovar to Begoñia: Now you will really be like your idol Alfonsina, ALONE! ( Dr. T, that was such GOOD one and soooooo perfectly executed! The door almost clipped her! Viewerville loved it!)
Ramona to Paloma: Why didn't you tell me that Gael left town? (I wouldn't bring up "not telling" if I were you Ramona!)
I was relieved to see that Elusa had on what appeared to be a sweet white dress for her wedding!
EJ, I just wish that I had "posed at cenotes," more when I had the bod for it. It's just not quite the same message now! The come hither part is missing!
Now it seems my posing efforts are more likely to elicit worried frowns and puzzled enqueries about the state of my back health. LOL.
EJ
I was happy to see Dam and Elisa so damn happy this episode. Look, Dam smiled almost the whole episode! I think it's funny when both Dam and Elisa's families are upset and suspicious because their children are happy, instead of walking around miserable and crying, as usual. That says a lot about the kinds of parents they are. Jeez!
You know, this is the second time Paloma has sworn non-forgiveness (Ramona and now Elisa). Little missy is going to end up alone if she doesn't start growing up and accepting that life is tough sometimes, and the people you love don't always do what you want, when you want them to. She's taking a page from the book of Alfie and Augie.
EJ - I am sure you will look lovely today in your miracle suit pointing, flexing, posing. Please have one of your puzzled enquiried onlookers take a picture for your new blog shot.
Vivi - so true! The happier the kids, the more the parents need to mess with their lives. And what's this fear of sex among consenting adults? Alf can tell Paolo he has to marry Elisa because she suspects they did it? Assgusting can tell the doc to check if Elisa still has her V-Card?
Paloma should not be mad at Elisa because Gael doesn't love her. BUT if she knew that Elisa had recently told Lolita she was going to try to look at Gael with new eyes, then I'd question the friendship.
R la O, you're right: I shouldn't diss the poor beknighted cast of a certain other TN. There is quite a bit of talent there. But the material they have to work with is so bad, it's all they can do to fight to the surface -- there are no dolphin jumps there.
It was also nice to see Zepeda with so many smiles. Who knew?!
I find myself almost laughing at Alfonsina (Guerra) and her frozen forehead. This actor has just one facial expression. What must it be like to go through life with one facial expression all in the name of "beauty".
Paloma is on the brink of becoming pitiful. She is happy for Elisa only when Elisa confirms that she is not having anything to do with Gael. Not true friendship, in my book, but would also agree with those who made note that Elisa had once told Lolita she would look at Gael with new eyes. That was only mentioned once, but I wondered then if Elisa was really serious about it.
Given what was shown in the avanaces, Assgusto has now become a parody of himself. What a pathetic fool of a man.
Carmina is now a bona fide hag.
Some of my favs with comments
Lupe gets their attention by making a loud noise with his hat. If the Padre had not interrupted, I’m certain that Damien would have deflowered Elisa on a nearby pew. He’s freaky like that.
I really feel bad for that hat of Lupe’s which is showing the effects of the abuse lately with Lupe’s nervous conversations as of late.
I did what you told me to do, he says. I refused to marry them. Tell me why I refused to marry them. ROFLOL!! Love your way to say that!
Then Ramona asks her Paloma what she would do if Gael returns and hooks up with Elisa. Would she accept that? She says… she would hate Elisa forever.
Another anvil/prediction in the works?
He opens the door and tells her to leave. He slams the door behind her. You go Dr. Gru A Par! Amen to that!
Does this have anything to do with Elisa? Oh yeah! I get to see her naked on Monday! LOL!!
The only thing he can teach you is how to be an incredibly sexy and virile thug with great abs!... Vincente storms off from the table and gets away with his teeth. LOL good ones!!
Lucio wants to know why Agosto is asking questions like this.
I thought exactly the same thing… hasn’t it been 15 yrs since the accident?? And he asks that NOW??
Damien doesn’t care. Tomorrow’s my wedding night and I am about to go buck wild! My bad. I forgot she’s like a daughter to you. ROFLOL!!
I was wrong. Now I am more attracted to Gabby than I have ever been. There cannot possibly be a better boyfriend.
(They make me sick, but Awwwwwwhhhhh. That is so cute.). .. yeah that about summarizes it for me too…
Horacio kisses Lolita’s hand. She smiles. Looks like he’ll get to carry her milk home after all.
My boyfriend’s back and he’s back at la casa. Hey na Hey na, yeah my boyfriend’s back!
But II was more interested in her necklace being back than her boyfriend, so it must be YOU singing that, right?
He was the best father in the world. He just cheated on my mother all the time and was abandoning us when he died. That’s why mother is bitter and hates the world.
Yeah that was kind of creepy of him to say that…
They argue over who has less control of their free, Latino and over the age of 21 children.
Another great one…
So!!... Damian has a rare blood type that he inherited from his dad… Damian has said that only death will stop him from showing up to the wedding on Monday… and Elisa’s dad’s favorite toy is a shotgun….. man oh man… the near future does look pretty bleak for Damian, doesn’t it? and the perfect excuse for someone out of town to make a U turn along the way, right?
will read and comment on the comments later. have to run to church and a recytal of my daughter's
Augusto needs to join the NRA and fast, they are the only ones who would support taking a shotgun to a wedding!
Carlos, if you bring tequila for the next episode, I'll bring paper bags for our heads!!!
5 Steps for Exiting a Cenote:
1. Point your toe
2. Hike up your skirt
3. Bare your thigh
4. Flex
5. Pose
Taking Rosemary's wise counsel, I began to practice last night. After several minor adjustments I have a report and a new avatar—let's call it 'Elna June at the California cenote'.
!. Note the pointed toe.
2. My skirt IS hiked up. Before the photo it was floor length.
3. Sadly, the Miraclesuit was not— MIRACLE, that is. After struggling into the confining device, I was still left without adequate waist or thigh measurements. Disappointing to say the least. I am afraid my avatar will have to be from the knee down.
4. I think my calf is flexed rather nicely, don't you?
5. The pose is a classic. So what if I am seated on the side of the cement cenote?
OK, my friend Blue has just sent me to the table by the Cantina bathroom for my extreme irreverence.Easy for her, she still has a waist.
EJ
I agree with Judy. You put Elisa's point to shame. I bet you were either a ballet student or a Solid Gold dancer back in the day.
Finally, one day, it was clear that on my Irish workhorse bodyframe I was never going to make the San Francisco Ballet Corps de Ballet, let alone be a Prima. Alas, I never did float like a butterfly.
But I am so glad to know that the toes still have it—at least in the looks department.
Elna June walks away jauntily, arm in arm with the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. She is looking for Cynderella and whistling, "If I only had a waist."
EJ
As for the avances, we here in Texas are accustomed to the occasional shotgun wedding, but the the gun is usually intended to encourage participation by one of the principals... not halt the proceedings.
Sandy, yes there will be Tequila at don Augie's support group table... I'm afraid we'll be needing it. I think I'll have them move our table near the back door.
Elna June,
Heh heh heh, nice leg...wanna come sit with us? Have some Tequila.
Carlos
Blue - I've got my VCR set. Who do I know who will be on there? Anyone from Cuando?
Daniel Arenas, from "Teresa" was a presenter. His hair looked long and greasy and he had some bizarre suit on that just didn't cut it. The guy is so handsome, but he looked like a bum up there.
I think I still don't understand how the voting works on these Premios, but it's kind of fun to see the actors.
Maite Perroni was nominated for best actress. Really?
here to see him accept it. I'll be watching Mad Men today because the presentation ran over.
Anon I so agree with you! He was the best thing about TdA. If only Televisa would grant my greatest wish have I got a part for him!
I'm still scratching my head on some of the award recipients.
Jarocha
His absurd need to put comic relief in every episode of his productions really annoys me. While the subject of LHDM is inherently Mexican, did he ever do anything original?
It was mentioned here that they gave an award to Triunfo for the most viewed telenovela, that was a joke and people at the Univision boards were having a field day when the awards originally aired since they always bring the ratings and knew perfectly well that the novela was a terrible flop. A complete new award given to the less deserving telenovela.
Jarocha
Jarocha
I could have barfed to see Mejia sitting there as if he were King Farouk. TdA was a joke. Perroni did not act. She just tilted her head and, yet, was nominated as best actress. The nomination itself was not deserved.
If I am not mistaken, when they were showing clips of TdA, not once did I see Osvaldo Rios in any of them. I assume he's been banished.
When Pablo Montero was singing during the show, he was not always on pitch. Echeverria didn't impress me, either.
For those of you that watched "Fuerza", how do you feel it ranked with the other nominees for best TN? I did not see it (started it, but it just did not interest me) nor did I see the one with Sergio Goyri.
How I missed the Goyri TN is beyond me. Was this on Telefutura?
As much as I like Jorge Salinas, I don't think I could bear to watch him in a Mejia production. I assume that if he were to decline the offer to work in this production, this would not be good for him professionally, but Salinas needs to take another close look at the farce known as TdA.
I think that the costuming for Elisa/Boyer on Abismo is not entirely wardrobe's fault. Boyer wears some interesting outfits at these Premios, etc. The one last night was about showing as much leg as possible (a la Angelina Jolie), so I have to think that Boyer has some say in Elisa's poor choice of outfits.
Darn, that Diego Olivera is handsome!!
Televisa needs to find a project for HIM!
EJ et al., you all are hilarious. If we can be this silly without alcohol what will we did with it (hee, hee)?
I am glad to see so many of the young actors in Familia rewarded for their work.
As for LFDD, I thought it was a great script and bucked many tn cliches (guy searching for and finding his child; heroine that marries and has sex with another then divorces him; 2nd guy doesn't die). I also loved Marcelo Cordoba's bad guy who was also good. Wonderful complex character. The only fault I found with the the tn was the tepid chemistry between the leads. Their story was interesting, but I didn't feel the passion. DZ was too angry/intense, and SE was too passive. I don't agree with her win, because I think another actress could have made so much more of that role.

Anyone know why there were two winners for revelacion feminina? I'm not complaining. I watched a bit of NCNST and liked Laura C, and I love all the young actors in Familia, so I'm glad Alejandra Garcia won.
I cannot imagine Jorge Salinas in the LHDM role. Doesn't he look a little old for that role? Singing doesn't matter, since the original Colombian version dubbed in the singing voices.
As for Meh-jía, he is a classic example of the Peter Principle.
Pedro A and Delia C. had a great story line and I loved to watch them together.
The Antolin/Kika Edgar storyline was fantastic as well.
The more I think about it LFDD had a lot going for it...it's just that DZ had more chemistry with the wall than Sandra E.
The TvyNovela awards have three parts of voting:
First the magazine makes a pre-selection of the actors they deemed worthy of the awards. Later, there's voting made by the audience through the magazine and internet were 3 or 4 choices end up making the final nominees. Finally, at the award show, there's a judging panel who picks the winner.
I agree that Sandra Echevería was underwhelming in her role but unfortunately Daniela Castro was not an option at the end. The choice was between Ana Brenda Contreras, Mayrín Villanueva, Maite Perroni and Sandra.
Jarocha
The most notorious absence for me this year was Susana González as best female villain. Another simmilar case to Silvia Navarro's, except this one is stronger, since that one was just a hissy fit of the producer because Silvia couldn't go to the awards that first year, in this case González and the TvyNovela producer hate each other with the fire of one thousand suns.
Jarocha
Blanca Guerra was one of the judges, so we got to see her quite a bit. Her dress was absolutely gorgeous, even sitting down.
I also agree about Pedro Armendariz. He had fabulous chemistry with Delia Casanova and I loved their story.
so i dont think they will come in the same planet as Mark and Carolina, not to even talk about Gregorio P and Mario D... who i am watching in La Madre online with other friends.
so don't even go there...
I would pretty much have to repeat Cynderella's entire recap to quote my favorite lines, but I am quite fond of her ongoing lust, er love, affair with Gabino.
Oh wait, I also really loved this one:
"Due to her extreme happiness, today, Elisa will be unable to fulfill her obligation to cry at least once per episode. During her hiatus, Paloma will temporarily assume the role of the sobbing victim." Bwahahaha!!! I love it.
EJ, you almost made me wet my pants I was laughing so hard at your picture. You do have a very beautiful pointe. (Is that extra "e" correct or am I just being pretentious? Maybe both.)
Cynderella, I love your irreverant and in-your-face style of writing. It's very refreshing and always generates hilarious comments.
