Refugio Para el Amor #70-71 Fri 7/13/12 Part I- The Hidden Truth Is There For Certain People to See; Part II- Scenes From A Couple Of Marriages or Confession Is Not Always Good For the Padre

Part I- Recap by Madelaine

Mexico City:

Rod is served the divorce demand by Lic Barrerra. He tells Rod that Luci wants to divorce him. Max comes in and wants to know what Lic Claudio Linares' associate is doing there. Lic Barrerra tells Max it is nothing to do with him, but with Rod, he gave Rod a document. Max wants to know what type of document? Rod tells Max that Claudio is Luci's lawyer. Rod tells Max that Luci sent a demand for divorce. Max is surprised. Oscar has come by and Max tells him to take charge of Rod's problem. Rod is starting to introduce Oscar to Lic Barrerra but Oscar says he already knows him. He met him in Claudio Linares' office. Oscar is handed the document and Oscar is shocked to see it is a demand for divorce. Rod says he knows what it is. Rod tells Oscar that Luci wants the divorce, with no drama, and right away. Oscar is completely shocked!

Magda, Paz, Ariche and Vio are all with Luci at Vio's and Ariche is asking after Rod. Luci is saying well he isn't here. Paz is sitting drinking water cause she is trying to get over the shock that Lorenzo is in the hoosegow. Vio takes Ariche off to get a treat with Marianita. Paz now turns to Luci and wants the why and how of how Lorenzo ended up in the hoosegow. Luci tells Paz about how Lorenzo took money that didn't belong to him and gave it to a client that needed it. It was 30,000 pesos . Paz is crying along with Magda by this time and now Paz is very pithed. Paz just can't beleive that Lorenzo is a thief, especially 30,000 pesos worth, this family is not a family of thieves, Magda is trying to calm Paz down, and Paz says thank goodness Galindo is dead, cause if he wasn't he would die of the shame. Luci cries. Paz is grabbing Luci and wants to know where Lorenzo is being held. Paz wants some face to face time with Lorenzo. Luci tells her she won't be able to see him till tomorrow and Magda echoes this. Paz says they've only been in the D.F. a short time, and look what they found. She can't beleive it and she wants to know why Luci never said anything.

Aldo is in the hallway and catches up with Rod. Aldo wants to know if Rod talked to Max about Don Jer returning to work. Rod admits he did but the decision is up to Max, if he rehires Don Jer. Aldo says Vicky will feel much better if her Papa comes back to work there. Rod tells him to stay away from Vicky and that Aldo caused this mess. Rod doesn't have time right now, but wants to talk to Aldo later about something serious. Aldo goes and Oscar is now chasing Rod down the hall. He informs Rod that Lastra is supposedly taking care of the Lorenzo matter, manana. Oscar also begs Rod to forgive him for being nosy but why the divorce? There was something said about family and little by little something I didn't get. Someone please fill in.

Het Het:

Theo sees Copio all sad and in the dumps and wants to know what's wrong. He finds out Don A has fired poor Copio. Theo can't beleive it. Neither can Copio cause Don A was like his Papa. Copio thinks it is the end.

Don A is going through a ton of paperwork on his desk and doesn't like what Copio did. He is blaming all his problems on Copio and Dona Luchita.

Don A is putting up help wanted posters around the wall in town. Copio sees them and is way upset.

Mexico City:

Mati is in Rosa's bedroom and wants to know if Rosa wants something to eat. Rosa has a sleep mask on her face and tells Mati she wants nothing. She is telling Mati her head hurts (I bet after all that lying and desecrating, jus' sayin'). Mati wants to know if this has to do with Claudio, Rosa says no that isn't it. Mati then says whatever you say. Rosa tells Mati she doesn't want anyone to disturb her rest. Mati says ok and goes. Rosa takes a pill, lays back down with that sleep mask and curls up in the fetal position under a blanket and it appears she is trying to make herself as small as possible.

Vio is visiting Estella. She informs Dona Estella that Paz knows all about Lorenzo now, but not that Luci is divorcing Rod. Estella thinks that Luci should just tell her Mama all. Vio says she is worried about herself too, cause her Moms thinks she is a nurse, when in fact Vio works at the antro. Estella wants to know what Vio is going to do. Vio says she doesn't know.

Now we have Rosa the Pious (gag) on her knees in front of Jesus, begging for forgiveness for the 1,000 time. (Note to Rosa, Jesus is not listening to you, he's done, the lord of hellfire is waiting for you, jus' sayin'). She is repenting and has her rosary clutched in her cold hands. She is begging for forgiveness for what she has done to Claudio. She is pleading with Dios to forgive her, over and over again. Max comes in and asks her why is she talking to Dios? Max wants to know why she isn't talking to Max cause she's got some 'splaining to do. He'll wait for her in the library. He goes and she is still on her knees begging Dios to forgive her.

Oscar has gone to Claudio's office. He wants to know why the demand of divorce from Luci. He says he knows Claudio is in charge of the case. Oscar tells Claudio, his client, DEAD TO ME ROD, wants this divorce as soon as possible. Claudio says Luci wants that too. Oscar has a suggestion for Claudio. He says what if Rod and Luci meet, have some alone time, to maybe kiss and makeup? Oscar says he has never seen a guy so in love before as Rod is with Luci. So Claudio says so you beleive in Rod cause he is Max's son, that's right, right? Oscar says he just wants the two to have some alone time, to have the opportunity to talk and then if they still want the divorce to proceed. Claudio tells Oscar he doesn't know about that cause Luci has a broken heart and is grief stricken. She will want the divorce.

Rosa has made it to the library. Max has his back to her, but you can tell he is pretty pithed off. He tells him she's here, she's listening. Max finally turns around and wants to know why she was with Claudio? Rosa says she wanted to tell Claudio about his daughter, now you know.

Magda is making dinner and Paz and Luci are talking. Luci says she didn't want to tell her Mama about Lorenzo cause she didn't want to worry her. Paz wants to know when she was going to tell her. And now Paz wants to know what Rod thinks of his BIL being a thief? Luci tries to explain again, Lorenzo did this for a friend. Paz is so not having that. Nothing justifies what Lorenzo did. Magda tells Paz tommorrow is another day, please be calm. Magda is making carnitas. Paz says excuse me Magda but nothing is good, she is very upset. Vio and Serena pick this time to come into the house dressed as nurses! Vio informs her Mama she is off to work! Luci is so shocked she has to sit down. Vio is giving Luci the look like, don't say a word, not one word. Magda is very proud.

Rosa and Max continue their discussion in the library. So Max says oh, so your suffering is based on Claudio, when in fact it is based on Luci. Rosa tells him Claudio hates him for sending him to the hoosegow, lo these twenty years. Max then says, oh you think you're a saint, but you are a liar cause you know very well Luci is Claudio's daughter. She says, I think , she feels bad for her crime against Claudio but she just can't tell him. Max says he didn't know his Rosa had turned into the enemy, her crazed love for her son has caused this divorce of Luci and Rod. He says he or Rod will never forgive her. She can't beleive it and wants to know if it's true, really true. Max tells her Rod and Luci are going before the judge tomorrow to get a divorce. Max goes. Rosa is shocked for half a second and then is all happy, happy, joy, joy, and says por fin (finally). Rod and Luci will be seperated. That's not wrong. Now that woman is finally going to be seperated from our lives. Rosa is smiling again, saying por fin.

Back to Vio's and Magda is asking Vio if she doesn't need something? Vio says she doesnt' need it and Serena is a nurse too. Serena introduces herself to Magda. Magda gives Vio the blessing and insists on giving Serena one too. Luci is staring at this the whole time and says not one word. Serena thanks Magda and says now they will be protected. Serena is looking uncomfortable.

Pato is in his bed having a little convo with Hanna and Melissa. They tell Pato that Rod would not listen to them about Luci. He wouldn't beleive the truth. Pato, bless his very intelligent brain, says Gala engineered this whole mess, to seperate Luci and Rod. Hanna says not only her, but Julie, Rosa, and Lastra. Pato tells them Rosa has always hated Luci and there was noone there to defend Luci! Pato is pithed. Rod picks this time to come into the room. Hanna and Missy turn their backs on him. Rod welcomes Pato back home and kisses his forehead, as Pato is giving Rod the stink eye. Pato asks Rod what in the sam hell is going on!

Oscar and Conny are in a cellar type bar, having a great time. They are having a drink and talking about Rod and Luci. Conny can't beleive that Rod and Luci are divorcing. Oscar tells Conny it wasn't Rod and Luci's fault, but that others caused this to seperate them. Oscar tells Conny his suggestion about Rod and Luci having some alone time to talk, and maybe reconcile. Conny thinks Rod is confused. Oscar is complimenting Conny and wishes that Luci and Rod could be calm, like them. Oscar asks Conny when they can, I think BE together, Conny giggles. They are smooching now, when they are interrupted by, wait for it, Gala and her posse. Gala is grinning from ear to ear and Oscar and Conny are, sigh, not pleased.

Vio and Serena have arrived at Inferno still in their nurses' uniforms. Ivan is having one big yuk about that. Ivan wants to know if it is fantasy of one of the clients that they are dressed this way. Vio explains that her Moms thinks she is a nurse and so she had to dress like this so her Moms could see. Lastra comes out too and has a big yuk and says oh, Lorenzo is a thief, Luci is a rat, and Vio is a liar. Vio tells Lastra that Rod should have put him in the hospital. Serena reminds Lastra she is *actually* a nurse. Lastra just laughs. Ivan I think, has a thing for Serena.

Hanna and Melissa make themselves scarce while Rod and Pato have their confrontation. Pato starts right in on Rod about the divorce. Rod tells him Luci is the one that wants the divorce. Pato says that Luci adores Rod, why would she file for divorce? Pato wants to know why Rod didn't defend Luci. Luci wants nothing to do with Rod, she wants the divorce.

Rosa is on the phone with Julie. Julie tells Rosa she's been thinking about her all day. Rosa wants to know if Gala is with her. Julie says no, she is out with her friends, but I'm here so tell me, what's goin' on? Rosa is telling Julie, finally, (Rod has come into Rosa's room, but she hasn't seen him) that servant and Rod are divorcing, finally seperated and that it's great! Rod grabs that phone, hangs it up and hurls it like Sergio Sendel against the wall. Rosa tells Rod she is sorry, but its good Luci is going. Rosa, in her pious mode, says one day Rod will forgive her. Rod tells Rosa since she seperated him from Luci, he is seperating himself from Rosa. He goes and Rosa is so shocked she has to sit down. She has a mad look, as in insane, in her eyes.

Meanwhile Max has returned to the library to make a call on his cell. He is calling Vicky, who seems to be somewhat releived he is calling. She tells him Don Jer is sad, but ok. Max tells her to shut up and listen carefully. He wants a meet with her tomorrow, be on time and don't stand him up. He wants to have a serious convo with her. He hangs up on her. Vicky is upset.

Back to that cellar bar and Gala is asking something about why Julie isn't with them. Oscar says he and Conny are now in a formal relationship. Gala asks if it bothers them, she and her posse joined them. They say no. Gala's cell phone rings and its, wait for it, Julie of course, who informs Gala about the Luci/Rod divorce. Julie has the usual champagne in her hand, and tells Gala their plan worked. And the divorce is happening manana! Gala (gag, we should call her Gagme) says it is the best news of her life, eva. She hangs up. Oscar and Conny want to know what good news. Gala says that Rod and that domestica (drink) are divorcing. Conny says oh, so finally you managed to seperate Rod and Luci, congrats, you must be very happy, while Conny looks like she wants to hurl all over Gagme. Valentina (bless her sweet heart, this girl should NOT be on team Gagme) says oh, but Luci is so nice, Gabe told me so. Well, Fernanda and Gala are so not having that so they feed Valentina a cookie, lol. Gala says now this ridiculous marriage is at an end! Oscar says life is funny and mysterious. Conny tells Gagme she must be so very happy. Gagme says the happiest of all is Rosa, who is very tranquil now and that Gagme and her posse are going now. Gagme congrats Oscar and Conny for being novios and she takes her leave. Oscar remarks he can't stand Gagme.

Luci is at Estella's taking a call from Claudio. She asks about Lorenzo when will he be free? Claudio is hoping soon. Claudio is working on that. He also says he called about the divorce proceeding. He says she and Rod will meet tomorrow and it will be over. She says that soon? He says it will be final. He wants her to be sure. She says she is sure, and wants it done now. Luci no longer wants to be married to Rodrigo Torreslanda!

It is the next day and Claudio and Luci have arrived at court. They go into a little meeting room and true to his word, Claudio tells Luci he will leave her with Rod for a few minutes alone, they may reconcile, who knows. Luci says she has nothing to talk to Rod about and she doesn't want to talk to him. Claudio says she could regain her happiness. Oscar and Rod arrive. Oscar greets Claudio and he asks Luci how she is. Luci says she's ok. Rod is staring daggers at Luci. Oscar and Claudio leave. After the lawyers have left, Rod and Luci do a staredown of each other, and Rod says Luci and Luci says Rod. They continue that stare. Rod says so now we are alone. Claudio didn't want this meet, it was Oscar that suggested it. Rod wants to know why it is that Claudio is representing Luci in this divorce. Why do you want to be free, Luci and what is Claudio to you. (Note to Rod, you should know that your *sainted mother* caused this and you are still asking Luci WHY, For shame, boy, for shame). Luci tells Rod that Claudio is very important in her life, and you know what Rod, he's my lawyer. So don't insult Claudio, cause if you do, you are insulting me. She tells Rod her relationship with Rod is broken, very broken and he never defended it. He tells Luci the secrets did it in, as you well know. (Oh, Grow up Rod, what about your *sainted mama*'s secrets and lies along with her satan's minions, jus' sayin).

Estella, Paz, Magda and Ariche are enjoying breakfast together, and Paz is waiting for Luci to get back. She says Luci is meeting with the lawyer about Lorenzo, (she thinks), and is worried. Magda tells her to have faith. Magda wants her to be calm. Paz gets up and thanks Estella for the meal, Ariche is staying to help walk Marianita to school with Estella, she likes Ariche. Magda says Paz is a worry wart always worrying. Paz and Magda are not the only ones worrying, so is Estella. She thinks to herself, what will Paz do when she finds out Luci and Rod are divorcing right now.

Paz and Magda are back at Vio's and Paz is praying to that iconic picture of the Virgin of Guadalupe that Luci brought to the D.F. with her from Het Het. She is praying for herself and her children. Magda comes in and Paz is crying. Magda gives her a big ole hug and tells her to have faith. Paz is worried about this meeting with the lawyer and Lorenzo. Paz says she thinks Luci is suffering, she can tell it by looking in her eyes, and she has lost that wonderous light that was in her eyes when she got married in Het Het. Paz says the Virgincita will see them through, and Vio has heard everything, and is sad. Magda and Paz don't see her.

Now your recapper has to tell you here that I caught about half this conversation between Rod and Luci, so for whatever I missed or got wrong please elaborate in the comments. Luci is telling Rod about what happened to being together in good times and bad? He asks about her secrets, what about them? Well she says the divorce will be final. She says she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Rod, but he really doesn't want to. For some reason Rod thinks that Claudio is behind this fast divorce, but Luci says you are offending Claudio again. She says she trusts Claudio. She tells Rod it is better we go our seperate ways and then I can go back to Het Het. She gives Rod the folder, he glances at it and throws it on the sofa in the room. Rod wants to know if she is sorry she ever married him. He wants her to answer. She just looks at him,and she has big tears in her eyes and just looks at him, as one big tear rolls down her cheek, sad, very sad.

Gagme is in her office and calls her money hungry mama and tells her to be ready to go somewhere with her.

Padre Honesto is in his office and Rosa walks in and wants Padre to hear her confession.

Oscar and Claudio are in the waiting area outside the room where Luci and Rod are meeting. Oscar has called the office looking for Max, who isn't there. Oscar leaves a message and hangs up. Claudio asks Oscar if he is nervous. Oscar says no, he wishes that Rod and Luci would reconcile. Claudio tells Oscar that the divorce was caused by the Torreslandas. Oscar asks Claudio what his interest in Luci is. Claudio tells him it is to defend her, like the night he defended her against Lastra. He likes Luci. Oscar is puzzled by this, and Claudio tells him, it isn't like he's thinking. Claudio tells Oscar he is fortunate to have met Luci. She's generous, and a friend. He tells Oscar it's funny that Luci has the same birthday as his daughter did. (Note to Oscar, listen carefully and don't forget a word of this conversation), he continues and tells Oscar that Luci is nineteen the same age his daughter would have been (Oscar keep listening). Oscar has a little dawning look on his face, but he isn't there yet. Claudio tells Oscar that, wait for it, Luci is like a daughter to him! Now Oscar is really thinking!

Now Rod has the nerve to ask Luci to think of giving them another chance. She wants to know why? What about trust? She tells Rod no. He doesn't trust her, doesn't beleive her,not even once, and he broke her heart. She gives him those papers again and she says she wants a total end. She is shoving those papers at him now, looks him in the eyes, and cries.

Part II: Recap by Anita

Roselena and The Padre
Roselena has rushed into Padre Honesto’s inner sanctum without even knocking.  She must consider herself a perpetually welcome trespasser.  (And by the way, have we ever seen the poor Padre helping anyone else outside the TorresLanda household and family…his time is constantly consumed by Roselena’s anguish.)

This deranged woman is demanding to be confessed.  The purple stole goes on, he’s listening.  The penitent is on her knees, accusing herself as having profaned the tomb of a newborn.  She had those baby remains placed inside the coffin of Aurora Linares.

The Padre is horrified:  “What did you *do*?  You defiled the tomb of one of God’s little angels to hide your sins? Your crimes of the past?”  Roselena:  “Yes, and I would have done even more, much more to protect my children.”  Padre:  “This has nothing to do with protecting your children.”

What does it matter to Rose:  “Claudio is at peace after seeing the remains of his little daughter resting next to his wife.  He even had the two bodies cremated.”  Padre looks like his cookies are going to get tossed.  Rosa continues piously:  “Claudio accepted the lie and at this very moment Luciana and Rodrigo are getting a divorce and that ‘revision’ will be far away and out of our lives and no one will ever learn the truth.”  What more could she want.  Now, the daughter of Claudio Linares *is* dead.

Padre can’t quite take it all in.  He can’t believe there is such wickedness in her heart.  One lie begat another.  And now she’s drowning in her own poison.  She tells Padre he can’t judge her, only God can.  He tells her that unless she is truly repentant, she’s essentially never even gonna get close to the pearly gates.  After all this, God has turned His back on her.  She begs to differ.  She has confessed, now he *must*  absolve her.  He’s obligated, as a priest.  She opens her arms wide to receive absolution.  Uh uh, ain’t gonna happen.  He removes the stole.  What she’s done goes beyond the limits of his priestly duties.  May God forgive him, but he’s not going to give her absolution.  She’s thunderstruck (we wish it were for real).

Oh, goody, Rose is home.  Oh, no, she looks awful.  Mati wants to know how she is, where was she.  Rose is demoralized, saying that God turned His back on her and she’s at the gates of hell.  Mati wants to comfort her, but Rose recoils as if Rose herself is tainted and undeserving.

Patricio and Matilde
Pato and Mati are talking up in his room about Luciana.  Pato is saying that if only his condition were different, he’d find a way to be by her side to protect her, to console her, to… (we think he was going to say querer her), but Mati interrupts.  He continues, saying that he is trapped in this body and he accepts it, but Luci & Rod don’t deserve this kind of suffering.  Frigidaire is listening at the door.  She’s overjoyed (we know this because she has a one-sided smile on her face) when she hears Rod & Luci are probably signing their divorce papers as they speak.

Vicky and Max
Vicky is waiting for her Osito in their den.  She calls Nicole to let her know she’s waiting for Maximino so she can talk to him, but he hasn’t shown up.  Nicole doesn’t want to hear from her again until her personal problems have been solved.  She gives her two days.  She hangs up on Vicky just as Max walks in.  She complains, with a smile, that she had to give up work to meet him.  He demands to know what is more important to her, her job or him.  He is, of course.  In fact, Nicole told her not to come to work today or tomorrow.  Good, says Max, he wants her to come with him, right now.

Meanwhile, Aldo is looking for Tío Max.  The receptionist tells him he’s not available and he won’t take calls, either.  Aldo is sure he is the exception, but he’s not.  Max won’t be available until dinnertime.

Max is taking Vicky for a ride in the country.  Something tells her this is not a Sunday pleasure drive.  She’s begging him to give her daddy his job back.  Her dad is not to blame for “their thing.”  Max corrects her—“her  thing.”  (Remember, Rod already asked him to give Don Jer his job back, but Max didn’t actually say what he was going to do.)  She’s the one who betrayed him, tried to be slick.  He had asked her if she was going out with Aldo and she denied it.  Vicky protests, it was only a couple of times and nothing happened.  With a fiendish chuckle he points out that that constitutes a betrayal.  He speeds up.  Max is frightening Vicky.  He says since she’s always complaining that they never have enough time together, this time they’ll have many hours together.  He grabs her—together—and alone.

Later, in some post-coital pillow talk, El Oso Malo with the great big teeth tells Little Red Vickyhood (ok, so it’s not the story of the wolf, but he could easily be one):  “Don’t ever betray me with anyone, ever.”  He’s going to make sure she doesn’t.  Max starts to choke her to death.  The look on his face is pure malice.

El Oso Malo has gotten up and is sitting by the crackling fire pouring out some chilled champagne.  Viewerville watches in disbelief as the first tired old telenovela beanie twist is used in Refugio.  El Oso just happens to have a vial tucked inside his pants pocket.  He pulls it out.  He puts a few drops in one of the glasses.

Vicky comes down the stairs.  She isn’t looking too happy after what was supposed to be a memorable Roll in the Swiss Mountain Hideaway Hay Chalet.  She says he frightened her.  She thought he was going to leave marks on her throat.  (Just marks, dearie?  Weren’t you scared you were going to die?)  Yep, in true telenovillain style, he hands the doctored glass to Vicky.  He chugalugs.  Vickyhood chugalugs reluctantly.  He addresses her:  “Did you know that a person’s word is better than a contract?  It demonstrates integrity.”  He tells her what he liked about her, her innocence, her simplicity, her candor, her ingenuousness, her generosity.  He grabs her by the hair as he tells her to keep on being like that.  He kisses her forcefully as she begins to go limp in his arms.  She passes out and he continues to manhandle her.  He talks to what seems like a lifeless body:  “Why did you betray me with my nephew, Aldo.”

Magda and Lorenzo
Magda and Paz are ready to go visit Lorenzo in jail.  Violeta and Fab are going with them so they won’t get lost in the big city.  Paz wonders if they’re going to let Lor out today.  Maybe that’s what’s keeping Luciana.  Vio looks guilty.

Paz arrives at Lorenzo’s cell.  He’s muy impactado.  She’s muy furiosa with him.  Aldo’s arrival interrupts the scolding Lorenzo is getting from his a-ma that her hijos were not brought up to rob or steal or do anything dishonest.  He knows that.  He tries to tell her it wasn’t his fault.  Aldo explains how it went down and that it was his fault and he promises to get him out of there.

Paz needs to talk to Luciana, but was told she’d be with her lawyer.  Lor has the number.  Aldo offers to call.  Lic. Bar answers.  Lic. Lin isn’t there.  He tells her that Luciana is most likely in the judge’s chambers signing her divorce papers.  Paz has another swooning episode.

Magda and Fab, who were in the waiting room, rush into the holding area to help with a wilted Paz.  Lorenzo, meanwhile, tells Aldo that he only has a few more hours to fix this (bail, recognizance or withdrawal of the charges, we assume) or he’ll be transferred to the Big House in the morning, from where it will be nigh impossible to help him.  Aldo is still waiting to hear from his Uncle Max.  He’s sure Uncle Max will get him out.  It doesn’t look good right now for Lorenzo, though.  Back in the waiting room, everything is in a flutter.  They are telling Paz to calm down, but she says how can she with one child in jail and the other getting a divorce.  She calls on Galdino beyond the grave to help her.  Aldo offers to drive them anywhere they want.  Paz accepts, but would like to go say goodbye to Lor first.  She’s calmer now and does so.

Aldo has brought the vecindario folks back home.  Paz didn’t know Aldo and Rod were cousins.  Apparently that gives her an idea.

Rodrigo and Luciana
Rod & Luci are in the little waiting room alone, together, continuing their confrontation from the previous hour.  The lawyers were hoping this might  lead to a reconciliation.  So, Rod says, these are the reasons for the divorce?  She’s accusing him of not being understanding, sympathetic, of being inscrutable, mistrustful and incompatible?  Luci doesn’t know about any of those terms.  It’s something Lic. Bar came up with—standard language.  Rod throws the folder down and turns her towards him.  Here they are, face to face, like enemies, after having loved each other so much.  They both have tears in their eyes.  Hot Head Rod still thinks he’s the aggrieved party.  There is no reconciliation and they are next in the judge’s chambers.

The lady judge asks if they are sure about going ahead with the divorce.  She’d like them to take the time to think about it, talk to each other beforehand.  Rod says they already did that, so, yes,  move forward.  The judge asks them to sign the document.  Luci does without hesitation.  Rod hesitates, he looks at Luci, who stares straight down.  He doesn’t really want to, but then he signs.  The judge pronounces them unhusband and unwife.  Rod and Luci independently seem aghast at what they’ve done.  Rod holds back his tears and bolts out the door.  Linares comforts Luci.  Oscar leaves to get copies from the secretary.

Now, Oscar is outside the judicial building on the phone with someone named Toni saying that they’re done and to prepare the papers.  He stops Luci as she goes by, while Rod is leaning against a column further away.  Oscar wants to know if Luci has a ride.  She answers yes.  He says he’s so sorry.  Rod and Luci barely and briefly look at each other.  Claudio steps forward to show he’s the one taking care of her.  Rod watches as she gets in the car with Claudio.  His eyes are red.  Rod is a broken man.  He turns and walks the other way.

Claudio Linares
Linares and Luci are back in his office talking about what she just went through.  Linares says that a divorce is always tough and worse when the parties still love each other.   Luciana says that evidently there wasn’t enough of it.  He knows she divorced him still loving Rodrigo.  She says she won’t deny it.  But she also recognized that love means suffering.  She and Rodrigo could never be together.

Norma interrupts to tell Lic. Lin that Barrera will be seeing Lastra on that matter they had pending.  He tells Luci to stop worrying about Lorenzo.  Barrera is the man of the hour.  Luci admits she went to see Lastra on her own, but Polo wouldn’t let her see him.  She was willing to beg.  That gets Linares’ dander up.  He doesn’t ever want her in a position where she has to beg anyone for anything, ever, especially from that desgraciado.

Linares is telling Luci that the official divorce papers will come in a few days.  She must keep them safe, as safe as her birth certificate.  (Inquiring minds want to know what hers says.)  Barrera calls back, he couldn’t get in to see Lastra and wouldn’t answer phones.  Luci panics because time is running out.  Lic. Lin says to trust him.  There’s a knock at the door.  It’s Melissa.  She wants to know where things stand with Luci.  Luci answers that she and Rod are divorced, so there’s no longer anything binding her to the Torreslanda family.  Melissa tells her how much Patricio wanted them to stay together.  Luci is worried about him.

Het Het
Theofilo, the big hunky lug tells Procopio he’s sorry he lost his job, but he talked to Don Serapio and he now has a job in the funeral parlor.  Procopio agrees to the terms that it’s only until Don Serapio returns.  Don Aquiles is trying to get rid of the Siamese Chisme Twins who are trying to tell him that Procopio found a job and is working with Theofilo at Don Serapio’s Funeral Home and Telephone Central Station.  Don A vows that Copio is going to be the first client—‘cause he’s going to die.  It seems as though Don A is losing his grip on the folks and businesses in Het Het.

(Please forgive your recapper.  As much as she loves Don Aquiles colorful language, it’s hard to translate freehand.  She prefers to pay more attention and tries to be accurate with the main storylines.)

Estela's Place
A box is delivered to Estela’s apartment.  It’s wrapped in pretty paper with a bow on top (one of those tv gift boxes that don’t actually have to be unwrapped).  It’s for Marianita from her mother en el otro lado (EEUU).  My how trusting she must be, unless she used Transporte Zuleta—De Puerta a Puerta, Inc.  It has a magic wand and a compound word: rompecabezas (jigsaw puzzle), something for Estela and a card from Ofelia.  Ariche likes the puzzle, Marianita likes the magic wand.  He tells her to wish with it real hard.  She wants her ma back.  That’s what she wishes for.

The Girls On Team Luci
Conny, Melissa and Hannah are in a restaurant-café, talking about Claudio Linares, Rod and Luci.  H&M are sorry they failed at their attempt to get the angry lovebirds back together.  Conny says that as long as the ink isn’t dry, there’s still hope (you hope in vain, Con).  Melissa is on her way to see Linares for the next revision in her thesis.  To her mother’s question, she admits that she likes Linares a lot.  Melissa wonders how old Linares is.  Conny does a little quick math and offers that he’s older than she is (which doesn’t tell us a thing).  (Did anyone in Viewerville note the dates on Aurora’s grave?  It said 1967-1995.  She was only 28 when she died.  If Luci is 19, then this must be 2014 already.  I would guess Claudio to be about 50 or a little more—which is just about right when Aurora was alive.)

A Pair of Mean Girls
Julie and Gala are in Cemetery Man’s office.  (Remember, he’s not the one complicit with Roselena on the desecration of the two tombs, just for delaying the exhumation.)  Gala wants to know what he means by the tomb of Aurora Linares is no longer here.  He explains that the exhumation of the bodies has just taken place.  Julie catches the plural—bodies?  Yes, he continues, the remains of his wife and daughter.  Gala picks up on—daughter?  Yes, he continues, exhumed and then cremated, at the request of Lic. Linares.  Julie, ever concerned for the feelings of others, remarks that it must have been a very difficult moment for him to face alone.  Cemetery Man surprises them both when he tells them Sra. Roselena Torreslanda was with Lic. Linares at the exhumation.  Quick-thinking Julie comes back that it was obvious that she held the deceased in high regard.  Sra. TL remembers her with much affection (while Gala smugly smiles at Julie’s chutzpah).

Rodrigo and Oscar
Rod gets back to the office accompanied by Oscar.  He tells Oscar he was at the point of embracing Luci, kissing her.  He wanted to ask her to forget everything and then run away with her.  Oscar wants to know why he didn’t.  Rod says he was trying to figure out when that moment was when everything fell apart, broke, but he couldn’t.  Oscar doesn’t know what to tell him, except that maybe that moment hasn’t come yet and their love isn’t completely broken.  Maybe it just needs time.  Rod isn’t convinced.  Maybe love can be put back together, but not the pieces of a broken heart.  How is it that it’s so difficult to end a great love with just a simple signature.  But it’s all over.  Rod changes the subject.  They have to get Lorenzo out of jail.  Oscar tells Rod it’s not going to be easy.  He gets a call from Lastra.

Old Don Jeronimo (as opposed to young Jeronimo in CME) gets his job back, on Max’s orders.  Rod tells him it was only another compound word: malentendido (misunderstanding).  Don Jer praises Max’s and the whole family’s saintly virtues.  (If he only knew what this virtuous man is doing to his daughter at that very moment.)

Patricio, Mati and a Call from Rodrigo
Mati is with Pato, trying to get him to take his meds.  He doesn’t want them, but she sweet talks him into taking them saying that they are essential to his recuperation.

He wants to know if his mother returned from church.  Yes, she’s back but went straight to bed with a headache, that’s why she didn’t come to see him.  Pato is scheduled to go for his first hydrotherapy that afternoon.  Rodrigo calls him on a teleconference channel.  Pato says:  “Rodrigo, please, tell me no” (Dime que no).  Rod matter-of-factly tells Pato as much as he’d like to tell him that, he and Luciana are divorced.  In Pato’s face, it’s clear he needs to process that information—whether to be sad for the two of them or glad that maybe now he has a chance with Luciana himself.

Rosa and God
Rosa talks to God:  “Why are You turning your back on me.  Why are You shutting the doors of Heaven to me.  I need Your pardon.”  She doesn’t care if Padre didn’t absolve her.  She needs the Lord’s forgiveness.  Pato arrives on silent wheels in the middle of her supplication.  He tells her that Rod and Luci are divorced, just the way she wanted.  He leaves.  Her body language tells the whole story.  She’s free of this burden.  She dries her eyes.  She relaxes immediately, her face slackens, she’s calm, she can smile.  She thanks the Heavenly Father, thanks Him for listening to Her [sic].

Endings
Luci returns to Vio’s apartment.  She says out loud to herself that she lost him, forever.  Vio comes in to console her.  She’s divorced.  It hurts so much.  Vio tells her that her a-ma already knows about the divorce.

Downstairs, Estela and Magda are talking about Paz and all her problems in Het Het and now her hijo problems.  Luci comes in and wants to know where Aldo took her mother.  Viewerville finds out right away.  Paz has shown up in Rodrigo’s office.  He and she have a lot to talk about.  Well, anyway, she does.  He gets to listen.  Luciana, meanwhile, hightails it out of the vecindad to catch up with her a-ma and arrives at the TorresLanda compound word: rascacielo (skyscraper) at precisely the same time as Max steps out of his car, without Vicky.

Advances:
Paz lectures her (bad boy) ex-SIL.
Roselena celebrates (her secret triumph) with her family.
Claudio Linares meets Paz (she swoons again).
Where in the World is Vicky (that's my question).

Comments:
The recap is up, enjoy y'all.

If Paz swoons one more time like some Victorian maiden I'm going to scream Her swooning is as bad as Gala and her "domestica".

Love that beautiful, sad music they play when either Luci or Rod is musing. Very sad during the divorce hearing when both of them acted like blockheads. Am beginning to wonder what's in the water at Het Het.

Praise the Lord! The good Padre refused to give Rosa absolution when she confessed her latest evil deed. She totally looked shocked but she is pushing it with the now you can say anything since i confessed. Bitch!

Another cell phone bites the dust. Loved Rod saying (not him but what he said) when he told Rosa who was crowing about her triumph to Julie that he and Luci were through but so was he with her. Why on earth she seemed surprised is beyond me . And now Pato is also pithed at her.

Max was at his most terrifying with Vicki. I couldn't help thinking he better not kill her because at least one person knew she was with him. He drugged her so i wonder what he did with her? Leave her wandering on the road somewhere? That scene was the first time we've seen him act like a real novela villain.

Interesting that now Oscar knows the truth about Luci and Infierno and he also seems to be wondering about that coincidence of birth dates. He is definitely on Team Luci. He is going to be disappointed in Conny when he finds out she kept Rosa secret.

Dumb and Dumber keep prying into the story but why? Knowing what Rosa did or what they think she might have done buys them nothing with Rod. You'd think they would want to keep it secret. My hunch is that with Julie being so money hungry they may try blackmailing Rosa anonymously of course but think of how that would drive her further off her rocker.

I just want the reveal to come quickly. Rosa has done a good job of covering her tracks. Claudio seems to have been give proof the baby died. If Paz tells the truth Rosa can claim she is just a money hungry woman just like her daughter. Mati won't open her mouth unless the Spanish Inquisition comes back, Conny or the Padre can talk and I wish one of them would. Rosa needs a day of reckoning for what she did.

Great recaps all.

If (and I am not in that camp yet) Max killed Vicky then that would make for a 3 peat on Univision last night. 1 kill in Rufuio, 1 in Absimo, and 1 in Podia.

I'm thinking that Vicky is going to be literally kept at this Maxi hideaway alive for a long time, telenovela actors die with much more aplomb than she mustered.

Yes, the drama of Paz got on my nerves too. I had wanted Luci to go back to het het but if it is only going to be Paz swooning, then no. Let's see what kind of drama Magda unleashes when someone spills the beans about her Violet singing, dancing, serving and other wise working in a house of ill repute.

Rosaelna has crossed into no woman's land and is now operating with 2 or more personalities. Mucho problemo's follow all of them.

As Always, just awesome Madelaine. You get so much detail down for us, especially those of us whoe aren't paying attention during some of the show. Me bad.

Rod is so his mother's son. He doesn't know what end is up, but being he's leaning to the side of being a good guy, and lord knows there are enough people trying to help him stimulate those brain cells, at least there is hope for him. I honestly think he needs this time to realize what he had, learn the truth about the gang of three's planning, and then try to win our sweet damsel back.

Rosa on the other hand--yikes. She's a goner. Bless the good Padre for refusing to listen to her clap-trap and absolve her. But it begs to make you wonder what she will do if Pato gets better, and all those wishes he was making makes me think that will start happening and he'll be getting more mobile soon, and the goes after Luci. Maybe that bolt of lightening will finally work it's way down.

Happy about Oscar and Connie! Julie will have a fit, no more free nights out. Ha!

What the heck is with Max? That better have been just a drug, though even that is disgusting. If he offs her...cripes, we need to get him standing next to Rosa when that lightening bolt comes down.

And I agree Decie Girl--Paz fainting every time she hears something bad or upsetting is getting old. Someone see if she needs some Iron or B12 supplements. Such a drama queen.

Madelaine and Anita- Wonderful job ladies! This was quite the episode (s). Since Vicky's role isn't played out, I'm going to assume that Max didn't kill her. But he sure is getting a LOT of perverse pleasure in torturing her and playing mind games. Why she is begging him to keep their relationship going is beyond me. This girl needs some more girlfriends who can talk her out of this dangerous dysfunctional relationship.

Anon 5:21- Yes, it was quite the dramatic night on Uni, wasn't it?!

I don't mind Paz's dramatic reactions so much. She eventually pulls herself together, like when she went back into the cell the 2nd time to see Lorenzo. She was very loving and supportive then. I don't mind a little rightous indignation, since all of the other older ladies who are in Luci's court just keep their mouths shut (Mati, Estella, Connie). I can't wait for Paz to just unleash on everyone, starting with Rod. Of course, her kids will also get a few tongue lashing from her too. I felt so bad for poor Lorenzo.

Yay for Padre for not letting Rosa get away with thinking she was home free. But I so wishe he would make good on his threat to tell Claudio himself what's happened. Rosa was at her crazy best last night. It was creepy how she thought Luci and Rod getting divorced was a sign that God was on her side in all of this.

I'll rewatch the recording to pull out pieces of the Luci-Rod conversation Mads.

Luci-Rod Conversation #1:
R: It’s obvious the interest that man (Linares) has in you.
L: Yes. That man, as you call him, Claudio Linares, has become a very important man in my life. You know why Rod? Because he supported me when I most needed it!
R: What is between you and that man?!
L: Don’t offend me or offend him! Our relationship is broken. Don’t break it further.
R: *I* didn’t break it.
L: No. You didn’t even do that. Just like you also didn’t defend me.
R: How could I defend you when everything that was revealed was new to me? You made sure to guard your secrets VERY carefully.
L: Aren’t you tired? Aren’t you tired of being unjust/unfair to me?

Madelaine, Anita & Vivi,

Thank you for great recaps this week. I have tried to post several times and blogger is eating my post. Hopefully, you will get this one because it will be very short.

Rosemary Primera

Luci-Rod Convo #2:

L: You swore to me that you would love me forever. That we would share our joys, our sorrows…
R: And our secrets too. You’re the one who didn’t fulfill your promise.
L: Stop harassing/pestering me and sign the divorce papers then!
R: What a rush you’re in to end our marriage.
L: You told me that everything was over (between us). YOU ended my illusions/hopes. My great wish of (anhelo) spending the rest of my life with you. YOU, NOT ME!
R: And what did you do?!! Asked you’re little friend Linares to separate/divorce us?
L: Your mistrust offends me. You offended me when everyone (the bitches) doubted me, and you’re offending me today. It’s best that we separate. That we break the ties that remain between us. That you remake your life, and that I return to my pueblo, that I should have never left. Here it is. (hands divorce papers to him.)
R: Do you regret meeting/knowing me? Do regret marrying me? Tell me Luciana. Do you regret having loved me so?

Luci-Rod Convo #3:
L: No. Don’t speak to me of love, when we’re just about to finish with the little that’s left of ours (love).
R: If you were to tell me to put a stop to all of this, that we could come to agreement…Luciana, if you were to ask me to another chance..
L: Another chance for what?! For those women to hurt me with their slander (calumnias)? And you with your mistrust? No Rodrigo. That will happen to me ONE time. Once. And it’s not going to happen to me ever again, because I will never let me heart be broken again. Sign the divorce papers and end this once and for all.

OK. After rewatching those scenes and noting the conversation between Luci and Rod, I remember why I got so angry as I watched. Rod actually expected Luci to ask HIM for another chance. Ha! I would have slapped him. Luci showed great restraint. The guy just doesn't get it.

Vivi,

I so agree with you about ROD IS DEAD TO ME. The nerve of that jerk. I am surprised that Luci could even be civil to him. I have always thought she had more dignity and grace than anyone in this TN.

Rosemary Primera

Hey Rosemary P.- Glad you can comment today. Blogger gets in a mood sometimes. ITA. Luci has great dignity, and Claudio is determined to keep it that way. No begging or sniveling for our heroine.

I love that the wheels were turning in Oscars head. Hopefully when he gets some more clues about Luci's origins he'll be able to figure it all out quickly. I also love that he and Connie's relationship is progressing. That makeout session in the bar, when he asked when they can *be* with each other, was getting quite interesting, until Gala and her posse threw cold water on it. Boo!!

Did Claudio really have Aurora and the "rags" cremated? It would really surprise me if he did.

Yes, the Connie/Oscar scene was great. Connie was blushing like a school girl. Hopefully, they can overcome all that is to come.

ROD IS DEAD TO ME deserves to spend the rest of his days in misery with Gagme's scorn.

Rosemary Primera

Luci does have pride and she gave Rod every chance to listen to her but he wants everything on his terms. Such a loser just like his mother.

It's interesting to me that she retains her pride in dealing with him but is somehow willing to crawl to that rat Lastra to beg for Lorenzo. As a result I loved it when Claudio told her not to do it and to never beg anyone. That should have put some more steel in her spine.

Couldn't help noticing those turquoise pencils appeared in the Padre's office and i loved those pretty sapphire ones in the judges office. Will be keeping an eye out for them in future novelas.

One thing i do hope and that is that Dumb and Dumber do not take it into their heads to visit Claudio. He is an attractive man and wealthy and Julie never met a rich man she didn't want for herself or Gala.

Whew, we got through two difficult episodes. Madelaine--Brava!!! Conversations are always so difficult. I have to start and stop at almost every syllable and I still can't understand everything. So glad Vivi was able to help out. I was too exhausted to revisit the episode.

I'll be away for awhile and sorry to leave you at this juncture in the story. My contributions are insignificant compared to Vivi's and Madelaine's efforts to keep folks up with this absolutely terrific telenovela.
Chau,
Anita

Happy travels Anita! See you when you return.

Anita, you will be sorely missed amiga. Your recaps for this TN are wonderful. Have a wonderful time and we'll see you when you get back.

I loved all the comments. Thanks Rosemary Primera, I too am glad you are able to post.

Decie Girl, I agree with all your comments. I guess Rosa forgot the phrase in the Bible that Jesus said ,"Your sin is forgiven, go and sin no more". Her problem is that she compounds her sin with all this crap she pulled on Claudio, and the body snatching and desecrating, too much already. The Padre does not have to absolve her.
Ya know Decie Girl, we should start keeping count of all the times domestica, servienta are mentioned, plus how many phones are thrown, there have been four phones thrown so far, and we can tally that up at the end of the TN. Also the word estupida, which Gagme tries to say all the time.

Vivi- thank you so much amiga for the conversations between Rod and Luci, I do what Anita does, I stop the tape and listen to every word and sometimes it's hard to grasp what they are saying, specially Luci, who for some reason when she is upset, gets a squeaky almost losing her voice tone. Some of the words too, I had never heard before.

Anon 05:21- Agree with you about Rosa too. I wonder about her. I know she's crazy, but she stops, smiles and gets that weird look in her eye.

DaisynJay- you are so right about the lightening bolt for Max and Rosa. I hate what Max did to Vicky and I too wonder what's become of her. I really hope she isn't dead. Rosa is beyond the pale for me.

Rosemary Primera, He wanted to cremate them, he told Rosa as much, but we haven't seen that, thank goodness, even though the cemetary office guy says it happened. But, Claudio if he even gets a whiff of what Rosa has done can have his and Luci's DNA compared and then he will know he is the TRUE baby daddy, not as Rosa thinks with her Max illusion. Which will be great when that comes out, cause then she'll see how BIG her sin really is.

Decie Girl, you have a good eye for detail. I never noticed the pencils, but I did when I recapped UFCS. They even had a yellow one once on there lol. We all thought we were seeing things.

Oh, and Vivi, off topic, I did see the pear robe finally, but not on MEPS. I saw it on Dinero, the other night. Alejandra was on her bed sobbing, cause she thought her Rafa was marrying Vicky and Alejandra was marrying that slimy Marcos the next day.

Ladies, does anyone one know why Max accused Claudio of fraud? Supposedly, they were like brothers. Now that we know he is evil because of the scenes with Vicky, I guess anything goes at this point.

Rosemary Primera

I am loving too, how Oscar's mind works, but he isn't quite there yet. He is missing some details. I wonder if maybe Conny will clue him in a little, he puts two and two together, and viola comes up with the truth. Oscar spends a lot of time at the Torreslandas and Max may even give him a clue. I hope that happens soon. There will be major hell to pay then.

Aldo, Aldo, Aldo what to do with him? The poor boy, NOT. He caused this whole rollercoaster and I hope it stops as far as Lorenzo and Vicky go. The boy is a bumbling booby, jus' sayin'.

I wonder what the hell Lastra is gonna do? I thought we would have found out last night, but not so much. I really hope Lorenzo doesn't end up in the big house.

Loving Team Luci, who do we have on there now, let's see, Max, Oscar, Pato, Hanna, Melissa, Conny, Aldo (even though he did that Lorenzo thingy). Did I miss anyone? I think Ms Valentina ought to move over to team Luci. Even though she is fresia, she isn't such a snob, oh I forgot that Marcos and Gabe are also on Team Luci, so (Note to Valentina- Listen sweetie, move over to the Luci team, you'll be much more appreciated, and they don't feed you cookies constantly, remember a moment on the lips, forever on the hips, jus' sayin'), lol.

Gagme and Julie will blackmail Rosa one way or the other. Decie Girl is right about that. Gagme for Rodrigo es foreva Mio and Julie for Dinero es foreva Mio, jus' sayin'.

Rosemary Primera, they haven't revealed yet why Max accused Claudio of fraud. I'm thinking Max was the one really in trouble and framed Claudio for it. We will have to wait and see about that, I guess. Unless for some reason, like he did with Vicky, Max thinks Claudio betrayed him some how.

Everytime I see Julie with her champagne, I LOL. She is probably common as dirt and is just putting on airs. She is going to be diagnosed with some sort of liver ailment before long if she is not careful.

Anita, have a good trip wherever your travels take you. But, be sure to keep an eye out for items for the tienda.

Decie Girl, you can count me in on Team Luci.

Rosemary Primera

Best as I can figure Max committed the fraud that sent his friend and associate to prison. I can only surmise that Max needed money to provide Rosa with the finer things in life since we have hints that they weren't always rich. I think he loved her so much he would have done anything for her (bitch that she is I wonder WTH he was thinking). The two men were in business together and Max took the money and accused Claudio. In Germany Claudio found proof of Max's shady dealings when he found a paper with his forged signature transferring money on a day when Claudio was on an Easter vacation with his adored Aurora.

Payback is coming and poor Claudio is in for two monumental shocks, one that the honorable Rosa is a lying baby stealing snake and two that his daughter is alive. Then LET THE FIREWORKS BEGIN!

Luci is going to have to do her level best to protect Jana and Pato from her Daddy's justifiable wrath against Max, Rosa and Rod.

Thanks to Madeleine for recapping these two hours, you must be relieved they will be one hour. Great recap.
I have been lurking a bit and not watching very often for lack of time and I need help with something.
What did Rosa confess to? She had someone put clothes in the coffin, right? But it seemed like she confessed to desecrating a child's remains. What did she do exacting, because it seems like she only desecrated an adults grave. Unless she had them dig up another child's body. Is that what happened?

Kelly---I like your idea of Melissa leading team Luciana. Melissa is smart, aggressive and unafraid---a born leader.
the gringo

Can we get Roselena fitted for a pair of fangs? The Witchy Shoes are not enough.

Great recap Maelaine and Anita and thank-you Vivi for the Rod and Luci conversation recap.

It's easy to be a armchair quaterback but if I were Luci, I would have told him that he is just a little boy in a grown man's body and that he should run home to mommy.
Also I don't think that she ever told him that she wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth and that she needed to find work and that when she couldn't, she took the job at the Inferno but was there only one night.
Does anyone remember if she told him that?
the gringo

Emarie- thanks for the comment and please comment more often. Rosa had an infant's body moved into the coffin of Aurora Linares so it would look like Claudio's daughter "died" when she is in fact alive and is Luci. She confessed this to Padre in Friday's epi, Thursdays epi, which I also recapped has the details of what happened. I thought they were only moving clothes in their too, but when Rosa confessed she told Padre Honesto that she had desecrated an infant's grave and moved the bones into the coffin of Aurora Linares, and Claudio cremated them. Yuk.

Hi Gringo, no Luci never got to tell him about her one night at Inferno. He wouldn't listen to her. When he saw the magazine he asked Luci if it was her on the cover. He wanted a yes or no answer and he didn't want a further explantion. Melissa and Hanna even tried to tell him, but he wouldn't listen. He is a big ole baby. He knows where Luci comes from. He met her in Het Het way before he married her.

Gringo-I don't think she ever told him that she was a cocktail waitress for one whole night and that's why he's up in arms. Because she was a waitress in a club. For a night. And he was there and saved her from Lastra's abuse. But he didn't recognize her when she went to work at the house and is now accusing her of being a WAITRESS. The horror.

Also there's the friendship with Claudio Linares, which she could explain if Rod would have just shut the hell up for a minute. Actually, Jana and Melissa could explain this one to him but he won't listen to them either.

Max is a goner. I don't care good he's been with his kids, he needs to suffer mightily for what he did to Vicki. For all the times he demanded that she make him more important than her job, which she needs, not being rich like him. I just feel bad for the kids when they find out that both their parents are insane.

Esp. Rosalena. She looked so happy about the divorce so I hope that all the kids give her their espaldas. So I'm not Catholic and don't know the rules about absolution, but I'm glad that the priest didn't forgive her. She's been told so many times by him that she needs to fix this and then expects to say some Hail Mary's or whatever to be good with Jesus? Aren't there some standards? Can just any crime be absolved by the priest or is up to their discretion to forgive murder or kidnapping, etc.? At what point are they allow to say "Have you considered Hinduism? Lots of gods there to bug."?

Kelly

Anita thank you so much for part II of this recap. I loved your name for Vicky: vickyhood, lol. ITA with you, Max is turning into the big bad wolf. ITA with you about where is Vicky? I really hope he didn't hurt her. Your recaps are always wonderful and I love your detail.

Anon, I'm not Catholic but my understanding of it is that absolution is not granted if the confession is not sincere. That necessitates repentance. Roselena has not repented of a single thing she's done and I'm predicting right now that she won't ever.

The Controlling Mothers list from two weeks ago has some world-class religious abusers on it. Roselena is on her way to joining their ranks.

Anon- Everyone has already said it, but yes it is two graves that Rosa desectrated. Aurora's and some poor dead baby's. This is a MAJOR non no in the Catholic faith. They take burial and the sacredness of a grave/tomb very seriously. The reason why you're thinking it's just clothes that she had put in the coffin is because the cemetary caretaker told her that's often all that's left of the little baby bodies, plus some hair and such. I betting there are a few little bones left too. So whatever was there, he scooped up out of one grave and put in Aurora's.

I think Max committed the fraud for greed and power. It has been mentioned before how hard it is for him to let others (Rod) make some of the decisions at work. He wants to be number 1, the most respected, the most powerful. From the description of Claudio, it sounds like he was a brilliant businessman, as well as lawyer, who was well respected and loved.

Max wants to have total control over his work domain. Rosa wants to have total control over her family and home.

I'm guessing if Luci were a waitress at a cafe, Rod wouldn't be upset and the bitches wouldn't be able to spin their tales about her. The problem seems to be the fact that she worked at Inferno. Everyone is making the assumption that the women who work there are sluts, just because they have to wear those damn costumes and they work at night. This is so ridiculous, but it seems to be the consensus all around, so much so that Vio is convinced no man will ever love or respect her, they have gone to great lengths to hide the truth from their mamas, and Luci was ashamed to tell Rod or anyone else about her one night there. Melissa is the only one who has said work is work and all work is honorable, when she heard about it. Go Melissa! I also think she should be captain of Team Luci. She's energetic, smart, and level-headed.

I've been neglecting to mention this, but I think Gabriel Soto needs a makeover. The dark hair and the lack of refined grooming on the beard is making him look older than he needs to in general and older than I think his character is meant to be.

He should go back to blond hair (not the palest shade) and a better style of beard. This is how he should look.

Urban- Even in this show he looks better/younger when they don't slick back his hair, which they have done a few times. And yes, the beard/shadow needs some grooming. Maybe they are making him look harsh and a bit disheveled on purpose?

Hi,
Even though I don't understand Spanish I was cheering when Padre wouldn't give her absolution she should burn in hell for all shes done, and take Gala and Juli with her.......I think Rod is so jealous he cant see the truth right in front of his nose.......I don't think its that he is stupid or doesn't love Luci i think that the jealousy overwhelms him, and when he can finally realize what is really going on its going to be to late......I really want them back together but I think Patricio is going to walk again and maybe Luci will go with him...........

I don't think it was fair for Vio to make herself look so Innocent dressing like a nurse because she got Luci the job in Inferno and that led to all theses problems and now Her mother is proud and poor Paz feels disgraced......I thought Max poisoned Vicky, but I guess its just a drug he is pure evil like his wife, I cant believe that Pato and Jana are their children, Rod is good but his jealousy is ruining his life...........

I don't get what Max is up to. If he drugged Vickie and wants to keep her captive, her father, Aldo, and even her angry boss would file a missing person report or call the cops, wouldn't they?

BTW, everyone, we only get 4 episodes this week because of Premios Juventud on Thursday. So I guess everyone with Thursday duty gets a night off.

Had a sleepless night and I think that what Max did was slip Vicki a roofie (the date rape drug). One of the effects is memory loss. I think he then took her back to bed and when she came to she would have forgotten how he chocked her. It wouldn't make sense for a man as sharp as he is to have hold her prisoner when her disappearance would be so obvious. I'm sure he has something up his sleeve like getting her fired but I don't think he would stoop to murder, at least not yet.

Am curious to see what Paz and Rod are going to talk about. He is such a dolt he could spill the beans about Infierno and set off another swoonfest but my hunch is that she is going to rip into him for breaking his promise not to sleep with Luci and for hurting her little girl. Maybe give him a dose of not letting him explain just like he did with Luci.

Funny how Rod spends all his time babbling about how some things are unforgivable and yet he expects Luci to forgive his lack of faith, his lack of defense of her and his unwillingness to listen all of which are far more unforgivable to me then working in a dive like infierno.

Yes, that is annoying the crap out of me about Rod the Bod, but look at his parents. Both of them are about "Do as I say not as I do."

I have noticed that Rod looked pretty haggard and old when we as with Gala--then a lot better when he was with Luci. Now I think he is looking bad b/c he stressed and sad away from Luci.

2 questions:

1. Did Julie have something going on with Oscar at some point?
2. Is Julie actually related to Gala?

Thanks for a great recap!

Julie is supposed to be Gala's mother, but your question opens up the issue of whether she actually gave birth to her or not.

Julie was trying to get something going with Oscar and used to horn in when ever he asked Conny to go somewhere. He is basically too nice a guy to tell her to get lost so put up with her heavy handed flirting.

LOL Ana. Yes, Julie is Gala's mother, but in the most basic sense in that she gave birth to her. Her maternal instincts seem to end there. As for Oscar, he would escort both Julie and Connie, and Carola too if she was brought along, out to dinners, shows and dancing. He and Julie didn't have anything romantic going on, and most times it was her asking him out, or pushing her way in on dates that involved Oscar. Since Oscar and Connie weren't novios at that point, they all took it as "friends" going out together. Now that Oscar and Connie are officially novios, Oscar is quite happy to use that as an excuse to not invite Julie along.

Ahem, Urban A. I became almost like a swooning Paz when I saw "this".Tx. Now for other business, as a Catholic, I know for a fact( from the bible) Fr. Honesto is doing what Jesus had instructed his apostles'i.e.Whatever sins you forgive will be forgiven and whatever sins you refuse to forgive will be retained. hah! take that Rosalena!

watching Ref and Abismo is so harrowingly stressful(excuse the redundancy), I almost have the extreme desire or wish to be included in their drama so as I could make the necessary move to put some senses to these characters! Por ejemplo: Rosalena the greatest robber of them all accusing Luci of being a theft.I'm glad it's the weekend to give me some rest. But then can't wait for tomorrow. I think truth is. I am a bit of a masochist. Here's what I hope, that Gag would publish the story about Rosa, Claudio and Luci's identity. Won't that be great?Keep it up Vivi and all recappers.I enjoy very much your recaps and quips. Thanks.

Anon, in case you missed it check out Hombres de Verano, our gallery of shirtless photos of our male stars. Gabriel has the first photo.

Madelaine and Anita thanks for your recaps. Vivi thanks for your dialogues and M/T recaps. Ezra thanks for your work too. Hurray for everyone this TN is now one hour!

Add me to the list of those concerned for Vicky and frightened to see what Ma has in store for her. I'm w/Kelly; he's crossed the line now (and has in the past with his insane demands on Vicky) and his good parenting can't compensate for the other dark parts of his personality.

Yeah and Rod is dead to me too; though if he could look more like that picture UA put up perhaps I could consider his stupidity as par for the course.

Muchas gracias, Madelaine y Anita! Emilia and I have been watching this one and the well-named Abismo. I much prefer this one and am grateful that Abismo is apparently finally close to Ultimas Semanas in all its darkness.

A couple of thoughts:

Maximino is dang nigh bipolar. Great daddy, but in all other ways a jerk.

Roselena - really, Laura Flores should get a "premio" for this performance.

Rodrigo - dumbass. He really doesn't look quite bright somehow. I guess he provides eye candy for the ladies, but beyond that...? Emilia and I think they're pixelating over some kind of tattoo on his left pec.

Curious to see how Aquilles plays out. Surprised at his refusal to join Gala & Lastra in their conspiracy.

Julie - if there was ever an oxygen thief, and a lazy, dissolute, selfish, narcissistic oxygen thief at that...

Sorry to have been bottom feeding for so long but we've been a bit distracted. Check my new avatar for the reason why. Emilia y yo tenemos una nueva nieta!

Mike & Emilia,

Congratulations to you both and of course the proud new parents. What a beautiful child!

Rosemary Primera

Urban I like the way you think. I wonder if Julie is her mama, but I am thinking she is. She just has no mothering skills.

Kelly- It is as Anon 3:35 said about absolution. When Jesus breathed on the apostles in the Bible and said whomever you forgive they shall be forgiven and anyone's sins you retain, shall be retained. The priest are like the apostles able to forgive or not. Rosa is way beyond the pale. Padre told her what to do to be forgiven but she continues to compound her sin by doing worse things all the time.

Anna K- Paz doesn't know yet that Luci worked at Inferno. All she knows is that Lorenzo did. Even Magda, Vio's mama, doesn't know she works at Inferno, she thinks she works as a nurse. They have yet to find out.

Anna, Vivi, and Urban agree with you all about Hot Bod Rod, who is, wait for it, DEAD TO ME. His looks keep changing here, but I am glad he is NOT slicking that hair back as he did in LFDD.

Vida2 welcome. And thanks for the great comments. I don't think that Gala will publish that, cause she is wanting to get rid of Luci, it would help Luci if she published that about Claudio being Luci's papa, even though that would hurt Rosa. Maybe that is what Gala and Julie will use to blackmail Rosa with.

Mike- love your new avatar and thanks for commenting. Also congrats to you and Emilia for your lovely grandchild. What a beautiful baby! Agree with all your comments too, specially about Julie, lol.

Karen- Ita with all your comments too. Rod is being a real idiot. There is no excuse for what he did to Luci. Nothing in this world is black and white, most of the time it is shades of gray. And he is what really bugs me about him. When you love someone, you listen to them, not your ex-lover, who you know deep down has an axe to grind since you left them at the altar.

Oh, and I checked out desecration. It is not only a sin in the Catholic Church but every single Church. Also against the law of the land every where. A pie cart is too good for Rosa. She needs a HUGE anvil of destiny to hit her, and flatten her, jus' sayin'.

Oh, and has anyone seen Mar de Amor? It has replaced MEPS on Uni late night. I haven't seen it yet, and was wondering how it is.

Okay was it just me or did it seem really unnatural to see Rosa smiling after she found out Rod and Luci were divorcing? I know it was for all the wrong reasons. But she smiled and to be honest...it creeped me out more than words can say. Its like seeing an animal outside of their natural environment.

The other thing that I still cannot fully understand (and maybe someone can shed some light on this) is why Gala and Juli are still on a quest to gather more info (ie: about Linares and the baby drama). Is it so they can get money out of Rosa? Considering it is Juli, that wouldn't shock me. She is so focused on getting that cash money (even though her daughter is successful and can clearly take care of herself as well as mommy dearest).

And then it hit me the other day. Why is nobody in the Torreslanda family (especially Rod) mad at Melissa for working with Linares on her thesis? If they are mad at Luci for her relationship with him, why does Melissa get a free pass? And imagine what will happen when they all find out she is crushing hard on him. And I still cannot get why Rod cannot see that there are many reasons for Luci's relationship with Linares. Yes, they have a kindred friendship. But even if they didn't, Linares offered to help Luci in any way possible and she is not the richest girl on the block. If she needed help with all of her legal issues (Lastra, Lorenzo and the divorce), it is not like she has all resources at her fingertips to just get herself another lawyer. Rod needs to remember that not everybodys daddy owns a lucrative private jet company.

Once again, still waiting on the takedown of Team Bruja. Just saying...

Gretchen- Many good questions.

I think Julie and Gala are smart and know that information is power. Even if now they can't fully use the Rosa-Linares-Luci info, they could use it in the future. I do think the first thing they'll do with it is control Rosa-- assuring her help or even later getting money out of her.

When Max found out who Melissa's thesis advisor was, he was not pleased. But Melissa stood her ground. He and Rosa can't do anything about it since she doesn't live in their house or off of their money. The only other person in the family who has a stick up their butt about Linares is Rod. But I don't think he knows that he's Melissa's advisor.

Yes, it's totally unreasonable that Rod thinks the only reason Linares would help Luci is for romantic reasons. But he does already think the worst of Claudio as he seems to be the only one of Max's kids who's drunk the "Claudio Linares is cheating scum" Kool-Aid that Max has mixed up. The other kids seem to let actions and what they observe of people speak for themselves, and hold off on making snap judgements.

Part of Rod might be doing is avoiding his feelings of guilt over not protecting Luci, while Claudio, a stranger, has done so at every turn. He can't face the guilt, so he turns to feelings of jealousy and anger instead. It's easier.

Vivi-

Thanks for the clarity. Sometimes my normal human brain cannot wrap itself around some of these crazy scenarios.

But you make a really interesting point with the guilt. With each snap decision, moment of jealousy and the inability to man up and just LISTEN, I just think even more than ever that Pato and Luci should have been together. I love that each time Rod tells Pato about what awful stuff Luci has done he doesn't even want to hear it. Like its been said many times, I cannot believe Pato and Jana are Max and Rosa's children.

Madelaine

I saw Mar de Amor and it wasn't bad, a little over the top at times but fun. It was also nice to see Juan Ferrara as something other then the bad guy (love his voice). The weak link was as always the galan and I'm not a big Mario Cimarro fan but he does spend a lot of time shirtless LOL.

I thought when the grave digger talked to Rosa he said that little children's bones disappear and all that is left is their clothes. I thought she only had him toss in clothes not bones. Either way it is a horrendous desecration and he told her that if they were found out they could end up in the carcel, not that that was going to stop Rosa. Max also told her that what she did originally was a crime that could land her in jail. Hmm is that going to be her fate, to end up with all the unwashed. And with that snooty attitude of hers she be in for an a** whipping of some kind.

I have no doubt that Max is Pato and Jana dad. For all his evil he is a smart man and he has taught his children to think. It took with them but obviously not with the blockhead.

Someone mention Laura Flores and a Premio for her performance in this. Robert Blandon and Brandon Peniche should get one as well. Their performances especially in their scenes together are riveting.

I too think Gagme and Julie are pushing their luck with the investigating into the Linares history. If it were me I'd back off since if the truth comes out their hated domestica will be in their social class with a rich and powerful father. They should leave it alone. My feeling is they are going to try and blackmail Rosa proving that they aren't as smart as they think they are since she is crazy and who knows what she will do. If she were to tell Max the two of them might just disappear (a fitting end to them). I can remember how they jumped to all kinds of wrong conclusions with the Luci story and while it has worked for them so far the truth will come out (hopefully soon).

Decie Girl- Thank you so much about the Mar de Amor. I hate looking at Wiki cause they always give away too much info. I am going to watch it. It sounds like fun. I have never seen the galan in this one.

Agree with all your comments too, Decie Girl, about Rosa with the unwashed in la carcel. It would so serve her right, and might humble her, but who knows. She'd scam a way out of it.

Gretchen- I too like the way you think. Wonderful ideas. Especially about Pato and Luci. They would so make a great couple and he would take him just the way he is, but she is so in love with Hot Bod, *dead to me* Rod, she will never fall in love with Pato. He will always be like a brother to her.

I meant she would take him as he is, not he. lol.

Madelaine- I saw bits and pieces of Mar de Amor. It did seem over the top and a bit silly, and Mario C. always looks like a zombie to me in everything I've glimpsed him in. Zuria looks really different in that too-- lots of big curls and short shorts. I like her modest Refugio look better. The location is beautiful though.

Vivi

I too saw only bits and pieces of Mar and in the last third. Mario is always a zombie and some of it was WAY over the top but it was beautifully filmed.

Refugio is light years better, better acting , nicely shot, good music and it is tightly written. I'm a writer and one of the things that often irks me in novelas is that the pacing is off. They start with a bang and then you get weeks and weeks of nothing really happening and then a mad dash in the last weeks to clear everything up.

The classic example is Corazon Apasionata which is in its last weeks. Last week alone three people were murdered, one tried to commit suicide, was saved and then arrested and sent to prison for the drunk driving death of her kids, the heroine was beaten up by her cousin and a household servant while her fiancé looked on, then committed to a manicomio, drugged and then rescued by the hero . She was out of it and wandered into the forest where she was kidnapped by her father after he extract money from the fiancé (who spend ears in a manicomio and is crazy as a loon). She is saved this time by her sister's father who blackmails her into marrying him to get back the family ranch. She marries him while the hero is kidnapped and beaten to keep him away from the wedding. Heroine runs off to avoid the wedding night and crazy fiancé sneaks in and kills the groom (his murder number 2 and the 4th in the week) Oh and youngest sister's new groom finds some incriminating pictures of her, races out of the house is hit by a car and is now blind while her best friend is making a play for him. It gets beyond stupid but once you invest the time you're stuck. One thing however the heroine dressed completely in black for the wedding and carried black flowers. What a scandal. LOL

Let's hope Refugio keeps up the smart pacing and at least lets Luci know her true history before we find out she is preggers and let's keep our fingers crossed for no baby stealing or switching.

Just read about the great rating this novela is getting in Mexico and here. Also that it is scheduled to end in Sept in Mexico, it began in April and will be the more classic TN length of 165 chapters.

Decie Girl-

Since you bring the subject of chapters and such up, I need help understanding something. Are TNs usually just one season and then they are done? This is my first TN that I've really watched so I really don't know how this works.

Gretchen I can answer that for you. Yes TN's are only one season so to speak. There are only so many chapters, the shortest being about 65 and the longest about 200.
When it is over, it's over. Sometimes they remake them, with different actors and some tweaking of the story.

I agree with the general concensus that Gala and Julie are in digging more info to eventually blackmail and even force Rosa to order Rod to marry Gala so they can get their hands on the TL fortune.

also, on the desecration sin stuff, i am catholic, not orthodox or go every 'mandatory' date but i agree that it is horrible desecration to take the bones and/or clothing of a baby from one grave to put it in another and all to deceive someone who idolizes you as a saint for your 'good deeds'.

and as far as Max, Rosa and why he committed fraud back then, i agree with Vivi, that it was mostly about power and money, to keep the whole company to himself. but i also think he was in love possibly with Aurora so it was also jealousy/envy that she picked Claudio, much like in Abismo Stefie picked Assgusto over Rosie.
So i believe Max did have feelings for Aurora (from the way he reacts every time Rosa mentions her and how he reacts to Rosa's jealousy statements and justifying herself in that Luci is Max's kid...).

also looking forward to watch Team Luci led by a very smart Melissa and what Paz and Rod will be talking or arguing about... i really want Claudio to find out Luci is his child soon, then we will really have a more even game going with Claudio and Paz joining Team Luci and Claudio getting on Max's and Rod's faces.

Gretchen- That is the beauty of the telenovela, and why they are so addictive-- they end after a few months. This means lots of dramatic things can happen, mysteries can finally be solved, the hero and heroine have a happy ending, and the bad guys (usually) get a karma-tastic ending.

Thanks Vivi and Madelaine-

It kind of bums me out that this is our one shot with this really good story. But Vivi, if you are saying that the bad guys usually get a karma-tastic ending...this means I will (hopefully) get my Team Bruja throwdown! So hoping this happens! A glimmer of hope amongst the sadness of only one season. :-(

Bienvenidos, Gretchen.

Generally, novelas are only one stretch of episodes. Some have sequels with the same stars, but usually not. I've been watching them since 1993 and don't worry; you'll see the same actors again and again if you keep watching Univision because Televisa -- the Mexican network that produces the programs -- is like an old movie studio in Hollywood.

Those of us who are watching the 10PM series that's now in Ultimos Capitulos now are all predicting the Karmageddons of the four villains. We're hoping for some spectacular ones.

Medelaine and Anon- Thanks for the info on the forgiveness by the priest issue. I'm glad he didn't grant her forgiveness but I wouldn't want him to get in trouble either. He's so much more useful than some of the priests we see.

Kelly

Gretchen

As everyone says you will see the same actors over and over again and you will find the galan is always an idiot and wonder what the girl sees in a man who never believes in her but swears she is the love of his life.

In addition novelas are remade over and over again. This one is a remake of a couple of other remakes. Sometimes they follow the same story line closely other times as int his one the core to date is the same but some characters have been eliminated and there has been a tweaking to who knows about Luci. While I loved the prior version primarily because the galan although a dolt was played by one of my favorite actors the story stretched too long and had some absolutely ridiculous twists. I won't mention any of them until this all rolls out.

I still remember the very first novela i ever saw and have fond memories of it. However you are lucky because this is a really well done one, some of them are so awful they are funny.

And you are going to have learning all of the cliche's that appear in almost every novela.

Oops that is you are going to have fun learning all the cliche's.

Novela cliches will be the subject of our next weekend discussion. I'm working on the lead post now.

I hope you incorporate Julia's Telenovela Bingo into that post Urban.

I've made a few bingo cards myself. If anyone has jpegs of some, please share!

Here's Julia's site with the cards: https://sites.google.com/site/telenovelasdesquiciadas/bingo

Thanks so much, Vivi and Urban Anthropologist--Gala and Julie have one wacked out Mom/Daughter relationship!
