Abismo de pasión #113 8/21/12: Guido’s A Goner and Everybody Left Better Have An Alibi
Labels: abismo
We learned Gabino went to Fresno & borrowed Antonio's belt buckle.
We also learned Gabino has great taste in decorating.
Gabino learned Ingrid went oops upside Guido's head.
Elisa learned her name just can't stay out of Begona's mouth.
Everyone learned Guido is dead and Paolo is a crass ass.
Elisa learned Carmina wants to show her the money.
Tomorrow:
Paolo will learn what handcuffs feel like.
Observation: Obviously Flo isn't thinking right at this time, but it would be a great time to get away from the Arangos, since Guido is no longer here to be used as blackmail.
Your lists are such a treat! Guido went to Fresno...I LOL.
ITA, now is the time for Flo to get out of town.
I love that Paolo might have a little jail time coming. He will need the protection if Gabino thinks Paolo double-crossed him.
Glad you commented.
EJ
Anon207, your lists are the best!
"Gabino's Tangerine Dream", snort!! Good one.
Hrumph. Elisa/ Gael. A perfect waste of a lovely dress, I say.
AMEN to that!!
Flo rubs her body against his like a cat looking for it’s missing Fancy Feast... Flo=cat.. love it!!
Alfonsina looks like she has a whole habanero stuck in her throat.
Ingrid + Needs Alibi=Trouble for Doc Tovar ·(INDEED!!!)
Really, Sabrina? (we've been saying that since the time jump, right?)
Gabino's Tangerine Dream! (LOVE IT!!)
How are you involved in this, Guido demands. She retells a story about going for a walk, meeting Guido, hitting him on the head with the gun…Guido suspiciously regards Ingrid. (you mean Gabino in 2 of these 3, right?)
Damian asks his Mother is he has half-brothers out there, just waiting to be found. Rosendo could have had more sons... (I think she was even more worried when he told her flat out that it would be actually nice to learn he has a half brother out there somewhere).
... they should not have relations until the baby is born. He is not ABLE… I think what Dam said was the reason was that he was afraid he would hurt the baby.. lol!!
The sand has run down in the hourglass. This heavy-handed art direction may suggest that Gabino’s time is up..(very interesting observation)
About the ending Carmina/Elisa scene.. Carmina came in yelling at Elisa that she had just gone to the other procesadora to see if they still owed money to Augie, to learn that 'your fiancee' just picked up a check, and had them make it in your name!! I demand that check right now!!
Elisa explained to her she no longer had the check since she had paid what she owed Alfonsina with it... Carmina not a happy camper so she slams the legal papers on the table about her owning 75% of the quinta and wanting Elisa and Lolita outathere... ASAP!!
btw, EJ, you got the II/Gabino scene right. she told Gabino she had learned that Paolo was going to give GUido proof that Gabino was the real responsible party for the fraud, so she followed Guido and after Paolo gave him the proof she ended up killing him, after attempting to shoot the gun, she ended up turning the gun around and hitting him hard on the neck.
Boy Gabino got so nervous and started sweating bullets because it is HIS gun!! that he did not question II's story at all...
Seriously II will really throw ANYONE under the bus, even Gabino or Gael!!
We learned Gabino went to Fresno & borrowed Antonio's belt buckle.
LOL!!! good one!! i have come up with a character that Gabino reminds me of, but since i have the recap tonight, i will see if i can use it there...
Florencia will have to be found out very soon; she can't keep up this pretense for long. The wrath of the Alphabitch will come down on her faster than a snake on a mouse.
When is anyone going to find out that Gabino killed the viuda Beltran? Watching him in that palatial place makes me sick.
Dare I admit that I am bored to tears with Abismo de Tontería right now? Filler episodes and scenes that extend the life of a telenovela beyond its expiration date are the complete pits. I really wish I could watch the original, CdP.
I've been having the devil of a time with the word verifications the past week. My post completely got wiped out just now, and this is my second go at it. Note to self---COPY the silly thing before trying to send it.
Dam could always tell Flo that he is afraid their fake baby would bite him when he 'visits', so his little turtle wants to stay inside its shell.
I really hate that Guido is dead and that his table on the patio will be closing down. ~sobs~
Looking on the bright side of things, Flo is no longer bound by her agreement with Alfonsina to have the (fake) baby. She is a free woman, whenever she decides to have a (fake) miscarriage. Escaleracide or falling off a horse would work.
"She replies that she doesn’t have any choice; the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare."
My favorite line in the recap - LOL!!!
The Tovar family is so needy .....
Sabrina needs to get a grip. Begonia needs to get a shrink.
Doc needs to get a chastity belt.
Enrique needs to get a nice girl who can love him back.
Somehow, I am not feeling very confident about that wedding dress bringing Elisa any better luck than Lolita had with it.
I too thought that was a great line, ELNA JUNE, as well as Tangerine Dream and your shoutout to Fancy Feast which is also my Kizzie's idea of heaven.
Thanks for that clever and efficient bulleted recap. Everything included but perfect for short attention span folks like me.
Although there were lots of filler scenes last night, I rather enjoyed that Don Lucio had some tender regrets about moving on so quickly after Blanca's death. Around these parts, widowers seem to start dating within six weeks and marrying within six months. I wouldn't be suprised if some of them brought a date to the memorial service! So I'm happy to see Lucio slow down and remember Blanca a bit more...even though eventually I want to see him happy with Maru as well.
You were on fire, especially regarding Flo: "Flo rubs her body against his like a cat looking for it’s missing Fancy Feast", "the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare" (Judy loved that too I see) and " A shocked Flo gets the beddie-bye boot for the foreseeable future, since we know she is never going to have the fake baby" made me laugh out loud.
This was great!
Doris, I cringed when lovely Lolita brought out the wedding dress. Aren't brides supposed to receive things that bring them good luck?? The dress already has a history, and not a good one. Rejected by someone who should have worn it and worn by someone who should have rejected it.
What's better than the liars and cheaters turning on their own? Il finagled her way out this one, but now Gab and Paolo will be at each others throats. Splendid. Too bad Guido had to be the casualty!
Thanks again Elna June!
Diana
I'm feeling sorry for Alfonsina. She clearly needs to whack Gabino but since he'd ordinarily be her go to guy for a job like this... well, what's a prim well-dressed Junior Leaguer to do?
Thanks Begoña, I'm sure the Doc appreciates you stepping up for him.
Carlos
I am going to love to see Paolo in jail. What a cold creature he is. He is such a handsome devil, but he will not be able to escape the wrath of Begonia.
Speaking of whom - her big mouth just skewed the investigation of the murder of Guido. Of course, Doc Tovar could also have a twinge of guilt and divulge this info.
My favorite line -- "the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare" -- has already been mentioned THREE TIMES, so I'll go into request mode: it was mentioned on the tail end of yesterday's comments that both Carmina and Doris the Horis from El Tal seem to have some secret trick that drives men mad. We may never know what it is, but I'm sure they knew each other at some point in the past...is it time for one of your delightful back-stories? Hmmm...?
When Elisa gets finished altering (shortening) Lolita's lovely wedding dress, there will be enough fabric to attach a chapel length train. What she will attach it to is yet to be seen, er... we've probably seen it, we are speaking of Elisa after all.
Gabino was chatting it up with Dam Downtrodden
Paolo was meeting Carmina at the town cafe
Alfonsina WAS at Guido's hotel room but the maid can testify she wouldn't let Alfonsina in and Edmuno & Begona (ok, Edmundo) can testify Alfonsina went up and came right back down.
The only thing to be revealed regarding Ingrid coming out of Edmundo's room is the fact she was at the hotel. However, there wouldn't be any reason for Ingrid to have any further dealings with Guido, because Kenia's long been dead.
I hope they don't try to claim that Enrique did it because he was mad about being fired from the procesadora, but even Enrique has an alibi...he was at the Centro de Salud with Paloma.
Anon207- Great alibi list. Will the next many episodes be like, Who Shot J.R.? Who beamed Guido over the head with a blunt object and then stripped him and put him in the shower?
Maybe Elisa will give Gael's money to the rotten Orange in exchange for the 75% of the check that Orange-ho should have received. It would be too easy for Elisa and Lolita to move out of the Castignon snake pit - too many missed arguments and hissy fits.
Dam gives Flor the 'beddie-bye boot' - LOL! Can hardly wait to see what her Plan B is.
Anya
Unless II's cover is blown, the two main suspects would certainly be Gabino (gun) and Paolo (if they find the folders in Gabino's house if they go arrest him there and II throws him under the bus).
Knowing Paolo he would not stay under the bus alone, so he would haul in Gabino with him.
very interesting possibilities...
I was actually shocked Begona didn't try to push the marriage thing and actually got Paolo arrested. And now that II has thrown him under the bus, we better get our body count lists together b/c I don't see how Paolo gets out of the alive (Morrison).
Finally where's Waldo...er Horacio?
I think the autopsy will show all the blows to Guido's head were not caused by a fall in the shower.
I also think that Edmundo's pushed the accident idea a little too hard. This will not go well for him, I foresee. No spoilers here, but he could easily be taken for Ingrid's accomplice in the murder. After all, he had a reason to be angry with the Landucchi's,¿No?
EJ
Thanks so much for the corrections in my recap. I truly appreciate your catches.
Yes, I intended to say,
"How are you involved in this, GABINO demands. She retells a story about going for a walk, meeting Guido, hitting him on the head with the gun…GABINO suspiciously regards Ingrid. (you mean Gabino in 2 of these 3, right?
And thanks for confirming that I heard correctly when Ingrid told her story to Gabino. That dialogue was so fast and so emotional that I was afraid I missed something. Note to self: find a way to get closed captions again!
Thanks again, dear Marta.
EJ
Hi there. I miss you here and look forward to your return. Thanks for your comment.
Urban Anthropologist:
I am glad your cats approve! You are so right, it is hard to see Gabino in the palacio when we know he terrified the previous owner into a heart attack in order to get it.
I do have to admit, I really enjoy the scenes with Gabino and Alfonsina. I feel like the writers have sort of given us 'The Gabino Show', and those two actors ares just chewing up the scenery.
Doris: Thanks for your comment. Of course you can admit to being bored with Abismo de Tonteria—the show is absurd! I do think the actors are doing an excellent job, though.
As we have commented frequently, the best acting is being done by those in the secondary story line, although I really love the scenes with Alfonsina and Damian. I think Zepeda is really growing as an actor working so closely with her. Compare this cartoon-like rage in Sortilegio with his current scenes with Blanca Guerra.
EJ
Thanks for your comment. I cannot do bullets like our Sara, but I try.
I like having a chance to see Eric del Castillo act when the scenes are written featuring his character. He is such a wonderful actor and a bit of a ham.
I agree with you, it is sweet and appropriate that he is missing Blanca as he continues with his life.
Carlos:
This was hysterical..."well, what's a prim well-dressed Junior Leaguer to do?
You are right. I'll bet Alfonsina goes to her Junior (now Senior) League meetings and laments the difficulty of finding good help these days. Thanks for dropping by.
EJ
Glad that you and others liked my line about Florencia. Hahahaha.
Oh, I am sure that Doris and Carmina may have spent some time in the Khajeraho area training with Sri Baba. Now that would be a fun story to write...(EJ is off, chasing her fancies once again).
Pasofino: I agree with you. I think foolish Begoña may just take Paolo down. What a nice thought...
Emilia: You made me LOL! 'Shorten and tighten' seems to be the only sewing lessons Elisa took to heart.
Cutest baby girl in the avatar, m'dear.
EJ
Marta:Too right about ING's cover being blown. But Ing had her hair down and she never looked the maid in the face. Plus, Begoña herself could be accused of being Edmundo's accomplice in murdering Guido, unless Doc Tovar fesses up about spending the night with Ingrid.
Diana:
You are so right about the dress! Who wants a cursed wedding dress? so glad you commented!
EJ
I think Paolo has been foiled but I don't know for how long. There are a lot of episodes to go in this e-t-e-n-d-e-d telenovela. Great to "see" you.
You and Anon are certainly right, it is time for an Horacio sighting.
Vivi: So great to see you. Thanks for commenting—I know you are super busy recapping as well. Abrazos a ti.
EJ
This is what I hope happens. The maid says she saw a woman with long hair, didn't see her face, come out of Guido's apartment and go into Dr. Tovar's apartment. Begonia claimed to have spent the night at Dr.'s appt. that night, so then Begonia will get the blame for being the one who left Guido's appt. right before he was discovered dead. Therefore, Begonia has to go to jail for killing him. Yeah!
II begs Gael for money help. Gael brings her an envelope with no more than 5 bills in it, tells her it is all he could manage to get for her, and II thinks it is chump change..
About 10 or 15 eps later Gael brings a fat envelope and he says it is his 'savings'... Where were his 'savings' when he told II that the 5 or so bills were all he could manage to get her? or was he lying to his mother when he said it was all he had? ... and if it was all he had at the time, then that greenhouse must be growing money, not habaneros... right?
Nice scenario! Ever done any telenovela writing? I know a little TN that could use some help...
Grin.
EJ
No, I just have an active imagination with a lot of wishful thinking added in. But is is odd that Begonia used to wear her hair up until fairly recently, and Ingrid always wore her's up until last night.
I don't see why Alfie couldn't have done it -- I mean, couldn't be accused of doing it. There are several different witnesses who saw her in different parts of the hotel at different times, but unless they all have atomic watches that doesn't prove anything. How long does it take to bonk someone over the head in the shower?
Plus the maid can testify that Alfonsina wanted to be let in the room but the maid wouldn't let her.
That would sound bad except Edmundo & Begona saw her coming back to the lobby 5 minutes later. That's just not enough time to do what was done to Guido.
Also, if La Ermita CSI did their job, they wouldn't find any of Alfonsina's prints in Guido's room. They'd find Florencia's, Paolo's and Ingrid's, though.
I would love to see Alfie accused.
Her statement that she didn't see Guido "because he did not open the door", would be a weak alibi except that the maid saw her standing there pounding on Guido's door. The maid also refused to let her into Guido's room.
Drat! I think she might be off the hook on this one.
EJ
Gabino can blackmail Alfonsina with the knowledge that Gael is Rosendo's son...he does not need Ingrid anymore to do that.
Ingrid sold Gabino out to Guido in exchange for money...Gabino's going to find that out*
Before Guido died, he correctly figured out that Ingrid was in on the embezzling plot too...it's not going to be too hard for Alfonsina to put 2 + 2 together. Was Guido calling Alfonsina or the police before Ingrid clocked him?
*Ingrid is too stupid to live. She's been whining to Gael & Gabino & Guido that she wants to leave town and she needs DINERO to leave down. She now has a suitcase full of DINERO and instead of leaving hotel La Ermita and hightailing it out of town, she goes back to the Blue House of Shame and tells Gabino what happened. Whatcha sticking around for, fool? She needs to die just for being stupid.
I wonder if she hid the money somewhere else and has some other thing in mind. She can't know that Damian alibied Gabino.
Ideas?
EJ
She didn't and that's going to be her and Gabino's downfall (as Ramona predicted). That blue suitcase of money is either going to end up in Gabino's, Paolo's or Carmina's hands.
Eight tries, and the stupid word verification STILL won't accept this. Argh....
That hotel maid was so upset after discovering Guido's body, that I half-expected Dr. Tovar to sleep with her.
You are hysterical. Edmundo Tovar will rescue anything in a skirt, won't he? Great comment, Anon.
