Abismo de pasión #113 8/21/12: Guido’s A Goner and Everybody Left Better Have An Alibi

Abismo 113 – Guido’s A Goner and Everybody Left Better Have An Alibi

A short bulleted offering from your recapper Elna June

Hacienda Arango

·      We start out where Novela Maven left us yesterday, in the tense atmosphere of a Damian-Alfonsina encounter in the sala of Hacienda Harrangue-0. After his little tete a tete with Gabino, Damian asks his Mother is he has half-brothers out there, just waiting to be found. Rosendo could have had more sons, NO?  Alfonsina dismisses this inquiry with a filthy look and tells Damian not to speak nonsense.

La Quinta Castañon
·      Elisa comes into her room to find a white dress on the bed. It is lovely. Delores comes in and asks if Elisa likes the dress. Elisa says Yes, it is darling. Delores explains that the dress is hers—she had it made years ago by Blanca for her intended wedding with Braulio. She never used it and now Elisa can wear the dress in six months for her wedding with Gael. Hrumph. Elisa/ Gael. A perfect waste of a lovely dress, I say.

Hacienda Arango
·      Flo and Damian are getting ready for bed. Flo tells Damian she is worried about their relationship. Damian seems cold and distant to her. Damian tells her that he already TOLD her that she needs to be patient with him. She tries another tack.
·      Looking lovely and moving in for seduction, Flo rubs her body against his like a cat looking for it’s missing Fancy Feast, lowers her voice and says she misses his hot Lips, and his hot other stuff, too.
·      Damian seems repulsed by her and after a kiss he pushes her away and says that they should not have relations until the baby is born. He is not ABLE…She should return to her room. A shocked Flo gets the beddie-bye boot for the foreseeable future, since we know she is never going to have the fake baby.

Hacienda Beltran
·      Gabino has settled in to his new office at the beauteous Hacienda Beltran. I must say that he looks quite comfortable in the palatial looking room, leaning back in the chair, chewing his cud or some other unmentionable object, and making a phone call to Alfonsina. The camera angle is priceless, shooting Gabino at a low angle from between two large objects on his manorial desk, a giant brass dollar sign and a large hourglass. The sand has run down in the hourglass. This heavy-handed art direction may suggest that Gabino’s time is up, but I don’t believe it, not yet. Not with 40 capitulos to go until the end of AdP.
·      Gabino calls Alfonsina and, in a familiar tone, reminds her of his talk with Damian. He summons her to see him, early tomorrow morning at his new house—Hacienda Beltran.
·      Alfonsina looks like she has a whole habanero stuck in her throat. Did she hear correctly? Yes, she heard him correctly, says Gabino, he’ll see her early tomorrow AM at the Hacienda Beltran. Now who is summoning whom, Alfonsina?

Ingrid + Needs Alibi=Trouble for Doc Tovar
·      Ingrid wakes up in Doc Tovar’s hotel room as ominous music plays. He is still sleeping. She gets dressed and grabs her bag and Guido’s briefcase full of cash. On the way out she runs into the maid, who is delivering fresh towels to Guido’s room.
·      The maid knocks, enters Guido’s room and finds him dead in the shower. Drat! I liked Guido and the Cap’n had first dibs on him.
·      The maid calls for help and Dr. Edmundo Tovar comes into the Guido’s Hotel room. He declares Guido dead but hangs around the room before the police arrive. He suggests that Guido probably fell and hit his head, only an autopsy will show for sure.

Paolo’s Room at Hacienda Arango
·      A bitter Florencia visits her Uncle Paolo to complain that Damian gave her the Beddie-bye Boot.  Plo asks her if she still wants to continue with this (STOOPID) fake baby plot. She replies that she doesn’t have any choice; the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare. Also, Damian would dump her for Elisa if her knew she wasn’t pregnant.
·      Plo now turns sagacious and reminds Flo that in a fake baby plot it might be a GOOD thing if no one was touching her, or peeking behind the curtain, so to speak. What was she planning at 5-6 months fake preggers to do to keep Damian at bay?  Aha! Light dawns on Flo’s lovely brown eyes. Now Alfie will be less suspicious, as well. (Huh?) Plo asks her again if she wants to continue with the program without Sabrina’s baby. Flo will talk to Dr. Manrique and figure out how to proceed…she tells her uncle that she is determined to continue with the half-assed idea.

Sabrina Visits Elisa to Blame Her for Alienating Paolo’s Affection
·      Really, Sabrina?  Elisa tells her that she had nothing to do with that patan Paolo. Her tia is more likely to be the problem.. She tells Sabina not to be a fool—open her eyes! Sabrina cries and looks miserable Elisa sort of comforts her.

Don Lucio Feels Guilty For Having A Nice Time At Maru’s
·      Lucio comes home from his date with Maru and remembers Blanca. He feels guilty.

Hacienda Beltran
·      Alfonsina comes into Gabino’s new abode. Gabino asks how she likes it—she ignores him.  He offers her a seat. She says she would rather stand on her own two feet. She tells him to shut up/ He reminds her that he is in no way an employee of hers any longer. Alfie repeats her recent accusations of Gabino—he is an embezzler! He replies that they should not fall into ugly words. For years he was her ‘perro mas fiel’. She disagrees; Gabino was not faithful at all.
·      Gabino reminds her not to interrupt him . He has a business proposition for her, a 15-year contract for La Anita to buy his habaneros. Alfie says Damian is the one who takes such decisions.
·      Gabino isn’t buying it. He starts in with some clear threats to disclose issues Alfie doesn’t want discussed: hijos de Rosendo, and all the things he, Gabino, has done for Alfonsina all these years. He reminds her that if she says anything she will completely damn herself! Alfie takes Gabino’s business proposal and leaves.
Casa Tovar
·      Sabrina repeats her conversation with Elisa to her Mother. Begoña doesn’t believe it! She knows Carmina quite well! This is Elisa lying again. Sabrina doesn’t think so. Paolo is done with her and she knows it.  Begoña now gets a little scary—if this is how it is going to be with Paolo he will pay very dearly. This, she swears, to Sabrina and we believe her. Paolo now has a new enemy—Begoña—and she has a very big mouth.
Blue House
·      Gabino comes into the Blue House nattering on at Ingrid. She is unresponsive to his chatter. She stares ahead, apparently dazed.
o  Ingrid says, “Gabino, I killed a man.”
o  Gabino, “Who did you kill?”
o  Ingrid, “Guido Landucci.”
o  Gabino, “You killed Guido Landucci.”
o  Ingrid, “Yes, with your pistol.”
o  Gabino goes a little crazy looking for his pistol. Ingrid is mumbling about the papers. She seems to be saying that she had to get the papers BACK from Guido. (I can’t understand her and I have no closed captions. Help!) He finds the pistol in her bag.
Hacienda Arango
·      Alfonsina walks into a full house, everyone is gathered in the living room. “What is going on”? Damian answers that Guido was found dead this morning. Alfie says it cannot be. Damian tells her that the police have some questions for her.
·      A policeman tells them that they have discovered that Alfie had an appointment to meet with Guido Landucchi at 8:00 PM in the Hotel L’Ermita at the exact same time as Guido died. Alfonsisna says, “¿Pardon?’ and asks if he is accusing her of something.  “Of course not, Sra.” replies the officer. The police just want to know if she talked to Sr Landucci. No, Alfie replies, she was not able to see him because he did not answer his door. She wasn’t there for five minutes and she asks Edmundo as a witness to back her up. Edmundo agrees with her, and says that he still thinks this whole thing was an accident.
·      Paolo pipes in helpfully that it is a stupid time to for Guido to die, at this exact moment. Damian snaps at Paolo that if he can’t say something intelligent, then shut up.
·      Now the questions are for everybody. Does anyone know if Sr. Landucci has any enemies in this hacienda? No, says Alfonsina. But Flo jumps up and calls Alfonsina a liar. Her father had an enemy here—Gabino Mendoza!
Blue House
·      Gabino mumbles to Ingrid that he just had this conversation with Alfonsina this morning…It seems his best laid plans may not be going exactly the way Gabino hopes.
·      Ingrid says it is obvious, Gabino. It was Paolo who gave Guido the incriminating papers. After all, Guido was his brother…
·      How are you involved in this, Guido demands. She retells a story about going for a walk, meeting Guido, hitting him on the head with the gun…Guido suspiciously regards Ingrid.
Casa Arango
·      Alfonsina tells the police that Gabino is no longer in her employ. Her son fired him from the procesadora. Flo pops up again, yelling at Alfie. Her father always suspected Gabino!
·      Alfonsina claims the embezzlement as an administrative error, Paolo says that Guido WAS the embezzler. Of course it was he.
·      But Flo rounds on her uncle. Guido swore on the grave of her Mother that he was not a thief and she believed him!
·      The police leave to talk with Gabino Mendoza. Damian says that Gabino was here at the Hacienda, last night, talking with him. Gabino has an alibi!
·      But today everybody is showing up at Casa Arango. Begoña now comes in to the house. She walks past the two white shirted policemen and leads Sabrina by the hand toward the rest of the group.
·      The police now turn to Edmundo Tovar. They say that this morning a woman was seen leaving his room. Who was that?
·      Edmundo hems and haws, but Begoña steps up and lies for him. "Tell them Edmundo", she says, "Tell them that your wife was with you last night".
Casa Castañon
·      Elisa is being sad for her godfather, Lucio, when Gael come in bringing her a check from the Santa Maria procesadora, in her name. Yeah! She can pay Alfonsina! Gael also gives her his life savings. Elisa says Gracias.
·      Elisa still worries about Don Lucio and Maru. Lucio needs a companion but he is still in love with his dead wife.
La Procesadora
·      Maru waits for Don Lucio outside the procesadora. She is worried about him because he is late. He is usually so punctual.
·      Gabino goes into the procesadora after insulting the guy at the gate.
Casa Arango
·      Edmundo Tovar gives Begoña the news about Guido’s death. He explains that the police are at Casa Arango investigating. He reiterates that he thinks Guido’s death was an accident. ( I think he has expressed this opinion just a little too loudly, just a little too often). Begoña offers her sympathies to Alfie, knowing, as she says, that Guido was important to her. Edmundo wants to know why Begoña and his daughter Sabrina are there.
·      Begoña says she is sorry to have come at such a tragic moment, but she there because what happened to Sabrina is terrible and sad. She is glad that she encountered the police here. She asks them to take into custody, in this very hour, ‘ese hombre’, pointing at Paolo, for violating her daughter!
La Quinta Castañon
·      Carmina, otherwise known as Gabino’s Tangerine Dream, enters the house like a hurricane. She screams at Elisa about the check from the procesadora Santa Maria, it was in Elisa’s name! Elisa says she doesn’t have it…But Carmina screams at her not to lie. Carmina wants her piece of the Pepper Pie!

What we learned in this episode:

We learned Gabino went to Fresno & borrowed Antonio's belt buckle.

We also learned Gabino has great taste in decorating.

Gabino learned Ingrid went oops upside Guido's head.

Elisa learned her name just can't stay out of Begona's mouth.

Everyone learned Guido is dead and Paolo is a crass ass.

Elisa learned Carmina wants to show her the money.

Tomorrow:

Paolo will learn what handcuffs feel like.

Observation: Obviously Flo isn't thinking right at this time, but it would be a great time to get away from the Arangos, since Guido is no longer here to be used as blackmail.

Anon 207
Your lists are such a treat! Guido went to Fresno...I LOL.
ITA, now is the time for Flo to get out of town.

I love that Paolo might have a little jail time coming. He will need the protection if Gabino thinks Paolo double-crossed him.

Glad you commented.

EJ

What will the autopsy show? Surely the police, and I might add Dr. Tovar, our medical genius, must have seen the repeated marks on the head of our departed Guido indicating that it could not have been an accident. (But then forensic work in this village has proven to be weak, e.g, Augusto's death uncrticially accepted as a suicide.)

EJ, thanks a million for your thorough and wickedly clever recap. I always enjoy a Wizard Of Oz reference so kudos for that. I won't get to watch this episode for a couple of days yet so I appreciate all the details.

Anon207, your lists are the best!

"Gabino's Tangerine Dream", snort!! Good one.

Wonderful, wonderful, EJ!!

Hrumph. Elisa/ Gael. A perfect waste of a lovely dress, I say.
AMEN to that!!

Flo rubs her body against his like a cat looking for it’s missing Fancy Feast... Flo=cat.. love it!!

Alfonsina looks like she has a whole habanero stuck in her throat.

Ingrid + Needs Alibi=Trouble for Doc Tovar ·(INDEED!!!)

Really, Sabrina? (we've been saying that since the time jump, right?)

Gabino's Tangerine Dream! (LOVE IT!!)

How are you involved in this, Guido demands. She retells a story about going for a walk, meeting Guido, hitting him on the head with the gun…Guido suspiciously regards Ingrid. (you mean Gabino in 2 of these 3, right?)

Damian asks his Mother is he has half-brothers out there, just waiting to be found. Rosendo could have had more sons... (I think she was even more worried when he told her flat out that it would be actually nice to learn he has a half brother out there somewhere).

... they should not have relations until the baby is born. He is not ABLE… I think what Dam said was the reason was that he was afraid he would hurt the baby.. lol!!

The sand has run down in the hourglass. This heavy-handed art direction may suggest that Gabino’s time is up..(very interesting observation)

Boy things are really getting interesting around there... like a Clue game and a Law and Order episode all wrapped in one!!

About the ending Carmina/Elisa scene.. Carmina came in yelling at Elisa that she had just gone to the other procesadora to see if they still owed money to Augie, to learn that 'your fiancee' just picked up a check, and had them make it in your name!! I demand that check right now!!

Elisa explained to her she no longer had the check since she had paid what she owed Alfonsina with it... Carmina not a happy camper so she slams the legal papers on the table about her owning 75% of the quinta and wanting Elisa and Lolita outathere... ASAP!!

btw, EJ, you got the II/Gabino scene right. she told Gabino she had learned that Paolo was going to give GUido proof that Gabino was the real responsible party for the fraud, so she followed Guido and after Paolo gave him the proof she ended up killing him, after attempting to shoot the gun, she ended up turning the gun around and hitting him hard on the neck.
Boy Gabino got so nervous and started sweating bullets because it is HIS gun!! that he did not question II's story at all...

Seriously II will really throw ANYONE under the bus, even Gabino or Gael!!

anon,
We learned Gabino went to Fresno & borrowed Antonio's belt buckle.
LOL!!! good one!! i have come up with a character that Gabino reminds me of, but since i have the recap tonight, i will see if i can use it there...

My cats thoroughly endorse the Fancy Feast comment, as that is their preferred cuisine.

Florencia will have to be found out very soon; she can't keep up this pretense for long. The wrath of the Alphabitch will come down on her faster than a snake on a mouse.

When is anyone going to find out that Gabino killed the viuda Beltran? Watching him in that palatial place makes me sick.

Elnajune - Thank you for the great recap!

Dare I admit that I am bored to tears with Abismo de Tontería right now? Filler episodes and scenes that extend the life of a telenovela beyond its expiration date are the complete pits. I really wish I could watch the original, CdP.

I've been having the devil of a time with the word verifications the past week. My post completely got wiped out just now, and this is my second go at it. Note to self---COPY the silly thing before trying to send it.

Dam could always tell Flo that he is afraid their fake baby would bite him when he 'visits', so his little turtle wants to stay inside its shell.

I really hate that Guido is dead and that his table on the patio will be closing down. ~sobs~

Looking on the bright side of things, Flo is no longer bound by her agreement with Alfonsina to have the (fake) baby. She is a free woman, whenever she decides to have a (fake) miscarriage. Escaleracide or falling off a horse would work.

"She replies that she doesn’t have any choice; the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare."
My favorite line in the recap - LOL!!!

The Tovar family is so needy .....
Sabrina needs to get a grip. Begonia needs to get a shrink.
Doc needs to get a chastity belt.
Enrique needs to get a nice girl who can love him back.

Somehow, I am not feeling very confident about that wedding dress bringing Elisa any better luck than Lolita had with it.

"She replies that she doesn't have any choice;the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do--other than serve as a fake brood mare."(Perfect!)

I too thought that was a great line, ELNA JUNE, as well as Tangerine Dream and your shoutout to Fancy Feast which is also my Kizzie's idea of heaven.

Thanks for that clever and efficient bulleted recap. Everything included but perfect for short attention span folks like me.

Although there were lots of filler scenes last night, I rather enjoyed that Don Lucio had some tender regrets about moving on so quickly after Blanca's death. Around these parts, widowers seem to start dating within six weeks and marrying within six months. I wouldn't be suprised if some of them brought a date to the memorial service! So I'm happy to see Lucio slow down and remember Blanca a bit more...even though eventually I want to see him happy with Maru as well.

PS Loved Guido's A Goner as the title. Not happy about losing Guido, but honestly what did he have to look forward to? No business, no grandchild, and pretty soon both his brother and his daughter exposed as miscreants and schemers. Hopefully he's in a "better place".

Elna June, thank you for the excellent recap.

You were on fire, especially regarding Flo: "Flo rubs her body against his like a cat looking for it’s missing Fancy Feast", "the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare" (Judy loved that too I see) and " A shocked Flo gets the beddie-bye boot for the foreseeable future, since we know she is never going to have the fake baby" made me laugh out loud.

This was great!

Doris, I cringed when lovely Lolita brought out the wedding dress. Aren't brides supposed to receive things that bring them good luck?? The dress already has a history, and not a good one. Rejected by someone who should have worn it and worn by someone who should have rejected it.

What's better than the liars and cheaters turning on their own? Il finagled her way out this one, but now Gab and Paolo will be at each others throats. Splendid. Too bad Guido had to be the casualty!

Thanks again Elna June!

Diana

omptmeGreat job, Elna June. I think it's great that you spotted and mentioned the hour glass. I always keep an eye out for little details like that but I completely missed it... good eye.

I'm feeling sorry for Alfonsina. She clearly needs to whack Gabino but since he'd ordinarily be her go to guy for a job like this... well, what's a prim well-dressed Junior Leaguer to do?

Thanks Begoña, I'm sure the Doc appreciates you stepping up for him.

Carlos

Elna June: Thanks for the great detailed recap. I must admit, I did not notice the hourglass and dollar sign paperweight on Gabino's desk.

I am going to love to see Paolo in jail. What a cold creature he is. He is such a handsome devil, but he will not be able to escape the wrath of Begonia.

Speaking of whom - her big mouth just skewed the investigation of the murder of Guido. Of course, Doc Tovar could also have a twinge of guilt and divulge this info.

Way to stay on top of the action, EJ! Things do seem to be moving very fast, although not in any particular direction.

My favorite line -- "the writers cannot think of anything else for a beautiful, talented young actress to do—other than serve as a fake brood mare" -- has already been mentioned THREE TIMES, so I'll go into request mode: it was mentioned on the tail end of yesterday's comments that both Carmina and Doris the Horis from El Tal seem to have some secret trick that drives men mad. We may never know what it is, but I'm sure they knew each other at some point in the past...is it time for one of your delightful back-stories? Hmmm...?

Excellent, EJ. I like bullet points.

When Elisa gets finished altering (shortening) Lolita's lovely wedding dress, there will be enough fabric to attach a chapel length train. What she will attach it to is yet to be seen, er... we've probably seen it, we are speaking of Elisa after all.

The obvious suspects all have alibis:

Gabino was chatting it up with Dam Downtrodden

Paolo was meeting Carmina at the town cafe

Alfonsina WAS at Guido's hotel room but the maid can testify she wouldn't let Alfonsina in and Edmuno & Begona (ok, Edmundo) can testify Alfonsina went up and came right back down.

The only thing to be revealed regarding Ingrid coming out of Edmundo's room is the fact she was at the hotel. However, there wouldn't be any reason for Ingrid to have any further dealings with Guido, because Kenia's long been dead.

I hope they don't try to claim that Enrique did it because he was mad about being fired from the procesadora, but even Enrique has an alibi...he was at the Centro de Salud with Paloma.

EJ- I love the recap and all the lines regarding Flo everyone mentioned.

Anon207- Great alibi list. Will the next many episodes be like, Who Shot J.R.? Who beamed Guido over the head with a blunt object and then stripped him and put him in the shower?

EJ - good stuff! The sands of time running out on Gabs - I loved it. And Lolita giving her never worn (?jinxed) wedding dress to Elisa? That's a clear sign that (like Braulio and Lolita) Gael and Elisa will not be getting hitched.

Maybe Elisa will give Gael's money to the rotten Orange in exchange for the 75% of the check that Orange-ho should have received. It would be too easy for Elisa and Lolita to move out of the Castignon snake pit - too many missed arguments and hissy fits.

Dam gives Flor the 'beddie-bye boot' - LOL! Can hardly wait to see what her Plan B is.
Anya

the only way II's cover would be opened wide would be for the hotel maid to recognize her as NOT BeGoneYa coming out of Doc's room. Or if Doc starts suspecting her for some reason but he seems convinced GUido just slipped in teh shower.

Unless II's cover is blown, the two main suspects would certainly be Gabino (gun) and Paolo (if they find the folders in Gabino's house if they go arrest him there and II throws him under the bus).

Knowing Paolo he would not stay under the bus alone, so he would haul in Gabino with him.

very interesting possibilities...

EJ thanks for the recap and loved your title. And while it's a bummer he's dead, ITA w/Judy that when he learned of Flo's fake baby/kidnap plot it was break his heart. And I think aside from II knocking him on the head, his heart was collapsing when he realized his brother had been messing him over for years.

I was actually shocked Begona didn't try to push the marriage thing and actually got Paolo arrested. And now that II has thrown him under the bus, we better get our body count lists together b/c I don't see how Paolo gets out of the alive (Morrison).

Finally where's Waldo...er Horacio?

Will Carmina call a lawyer or the police and accuse Elisa and Gael of theft of her 75% of that check? Elisa could be the cell mate of Paolo!

Horatio is obviously lucking in the bushes and the writers will bring him in to kill someone. My bet is on Gabino but Carmina is second in line. Viewerville is puzzled that none of the characters knows that there was an accident while transporting Horacio and that he escaped with a gun. Wasn't this at least a week ago in TB time? Another example of bad writing?

Anon:
I think the autopsy will show all the blows to Guido's head were not caused by a fall in the shower.

I also think that Edmundo's pushed the accident idea a little too hard. This will not go well for him, I foresee. No spoilers here, but he could easily be taken for Ingrid's accomplice in the murder. After all, he had a reason to be angry with the Landucchi's,¿No?

EJ

Amiga Marta:

Thanks so much for the corrections in my recap. I truly appreciate your catches.

Yes, I intended to say,

"How are you involved in this, GABINO demands. She retells a story about going for a walk, meeting Guido, hitting him on the head with the gun…GABINO suspiciously regards Ingrid. (you mean Gabino in 2 of these 3, right?

And thanks for confirming that I heard correctly when Ingrid told her story to Gabino. That dialogue was so fast and so emotional that I was afraid I missed something. Note to self: find a way to get closed captions again!

Thanks again, dear Marta.

EJ

Cap'n:

Hi there. I miss you here and look forward to your return. Thanks for your comment.

Urban Anthropologist:
I am glad your cats approve! You are so right, it is hard to see Gabino in the palacio when we know he terrified the previous owner into a heart attack in order to get it.

I do have to admit, I really enjoy the scenes with Gabino and Alfonsina. I feel like the writers have sort of given us 'The Gabino Show', and those two actors ares just chewing up the scenery.

Doris: Thanks for your comment. Of course you can admit to being bored with Abismo de Tonteria—the show is absurd! I do think the actors are doing an excellent job, though.

As we have commented frequently, the best acting is being done by those in the secondary story line, although I really love the scenes with Alfonsina and Damian. I think Zepeda is really growing as an actor working so closely with her. Compare this cartoon-like rage in Sortilegio with his current scenes with Blanca Guerra.

EJ

JudyB:

Thanks for your comment. I cannot do bullets like our Sara, but I try.

I like having a chance to see Eric del Castillo act when the scenes are written featuring his character. He is such a wonderful actor and a bit of a ham.

I agree with you, it is sweet and appropriate that he is missing Blanca as he continues with his life.

Carlos:

This was hysterical..."well, what's a prim well-dressed Junior Leaguer to do?

You are right. I'll bet Alfonsina goes to her Junior (now Senior) League meetings and laments the difficulty of finding good help these days. Thanks for dropping by.

EJ

Blue:

Glad that you and others liked my line about Florencia. Hahahaha.

Oh, I am sure that Doris and Carmina may have spent some time in the Khajeraho area training with Sri Baba. Now that would be a fun story to write...(EJ is off, chasing her fancies once again).

Pasofino: I agree with you. I think foolish Begoña may just take Paolo down. What a nice thought...

Emilia: You made me LOL! 'Shorten and tighten' seems to be the only sewing lessons Elisa took to heart.

Cutest baby girl in the avatar, m'dear.

EJ

Anya: I agree, Elisa and Delores will have to stay in la quinta together until the bitter end. You are so right! How else would there be all of these hysterical run ins?

Marta:Too right about ING's cover being blown. But Ing had her hair down and she never looked the maid in the face. Plus, Begoña herself could be accused of being Edmundo's accomplice in murdering Guido, unless Doc Tovar fesses up about spending the night with Ingrid.

Diana:
You are so right about the dress! Who wants a cursed wedding dress? so glad you commented!

EJ

Karen:
I think Paolo has been foiled but I don't know for how long. There are a lot of episodes to go in this e-t-e-n-d-e-d telenovela. Great to "see" you.

You and Anon are certainly right, it is time for an Horacio sighting.

Vivi: So great to see you. Thanks for commenting—I know you are super busy recapping as well. Abrazos a ti.

EJ

Thanks Elna June, I agree with everyone's comments about their favorite lines.

This is what I hope happens. The maid says she saw a woman with long hair, didn't see her face, come out of Guido's apartment and go into Dr. Tovar's apartment. Begonia claimed to have spent the night at Dr.'s appt. that night, so then Begonia will get the blame for being the one who left Guido's appt. right before he was discovered dead. Therefore, Begonia has to go to jail for killing him. Yeah!

Talk about bad writing and bad continuity...
II begs Gael for money help. Gael brings her an envelope with no more than 5 bills in it, tells her it is all he could manage to get for her, and II thinks it is chump change..
About 10 or 15 eps later Gael brings a fat envelope and he says it is his 'savings'... Where were his 'savings' when he told II that the 5 or so bills were all he could manage to get her? or was he lying to his mother when he said it was all he had? ... and if it was all he had at the time, then that greenhouse must be growing money, not habaneros... right?

CathyX:

Nice scenario! Ever done any telenovela writing? I know a little TN that could use some help...

Grin.

EJ

EJ-
No, I just have an active imagination with a lot of wishful thinking added in. But is is odd that Begonia used to wear her hair up until fairly recently, and Ingrid always wore her's up until last night.

Why can't we kill off some of the *bad* guys? Jeepers.

If Augusto could get away with suicide, perhaps Guido can also. Slipped in the shower, didn't die, kept banging his own head again and again...

And thanks for the avatar comment, EJ. That's our little grand-angel Alyette at 3 weeks. We are going up to see her (and her parents) this weekend, now that she's 5 weeks old.

"Suicide by shower" -- love it, Emilia!

I don't see why Alfie couldn't have done it -- I mean, couldn't be accused of doing it. There are several different witnesses who saw her in different parts of the hotel at different times, but unless they all have atomic watches that doesn't prove anything. How long does it take to bonk someone over the head in the shower?

There wouldn't have been any time for Alfonsina to drag Guido over to the shower and strip him, from the time she went up to his room to the time she came back downstairs. Her saving grace is Edmundo b/c Begoña would play the "I dunno" game.

Plus the maid can testify that Alfonsina wanted to be let in the room but the maid wouldn't let her.

That would sound bad except Edmundo & Begona saw her coming back to the lobby 5 minutes later. That's just not enough time to do what was done to Guido.

Also, if La Ermita CSI did their job, they wouldn't find any of Alfonsina's prints in Guido's room. They'd find Florencia's, Paolo's and Ingrid's, though.

But if Guido was already in the shower and the door was open, all she would have to do is walk in, bonk him, and walk out, locking the door behind her and pretending to just arrive when she saw the maid. Easy-peasy.

And no fingerprints!

Blue:
I would love to see Alfie accused.

Her statement that she didn't see Guido "because he did not open the door", would be a weak alibi except that the maid saw her standing there pounding on Guido's door. The maid also refused to let her into Guido's room.

Drat! I think she might be off the hook on this one.

EJ

Gabino's off the hook alibi wise because Damian told the police he was talking to him but there's that pesky problem of his gun being used in the crime. I think Ingrid's time is just about up:

Gabino can blackmail Alfonsina with the knowledge that Gael is Rosendo's son...he does not need Ingrid anymore to do that.

Ingrid sold Gabino out to Guido in exchange for money...Gabino's going to find that out*

Before Guido died, he correctly figured out that Ingrid was in on the embezzling plot too...it's not going to be too hard for Alfonsina to put 2 + 2 together. Was Guido calling Alfonsina or the police before Ingrid clocked him?

*Ingrid is too stupid to live. She's been whining to Gael & Gabino & Guido that she wants to leave town and she needs DINERO to leave down. She now has a suitcase full of DINERO and instead of leaving hotel La Ermita and hightailing it out of town, she goes back to the Blue House of Shame and tells Gabino what happened. Whatcha sticking around for, fool? She needs to die just for being stupid.

Anon:207. Good analysis. Did you have the idea that she was playing Gabino last night? I did. Plus we never saw the silver suitcase of cash in the Blue House.

I wonder if she hid the money somewhere else and has some other thing in mind. She can't know that Damian alibied Gabino.

Ideas?

EJ

I don't know whether she's playing Gabino or not (although she was quick to throw Paolo under the bus), but I do know if she was "so scared" of staying in La Ermita b/c of Alfonsina, she did have the blue suitcase full of money and she could have gotten out of La Ermita last night. Nobody would have missed her...she could have probably fled to the United States.

She didn't and that's going to be her and Gabino's downfall (as Ramona predicted). That blue suitcase of money is either going to end up in Gabino's, Paolo's or Carmina's hands.

Anon207 - She needs to die just for her hairstyle.

Eight tries, and the stupid word verification STILL won't accept this. Argh....

Emilia - duchacide I love it!!!

Thanks for the recap, EJ.

That hotel maid was so upset after discovering Guido's body, that I half-expected Dr. Tovar to sleep with her.

THAT is funny! Thanks Anonymous.

Anon:
You are hysterical. Edmundo Tovar will rescue anything in a skirt, won't he? Great comment, Anon.
