Weekend Discussion: Fabulous Novela Weddings, continued

The Wedding Album, Volume II

Oh, how I sometimes wish we could go back to some true golden oldies, but it seems that in recent television seasons each wedding planner at Televisa or Telemundo (i.e., wardrobe consultant and production designer) tries to outdo the last production. I'd love to know whether novela weddings set the style for the brides of the following year. We start with three family affair weddings:

Gitanas (2004) showcased a triple wedding of “las tres Marias” which didn't happen (Note:  Video used for the screen shot of the three grooms was not from the network):

La Madrastra (2005) was quite the family affair, even involving the remarriage of the parents:

Fuego en la Sangre (2008) was a royal wedding indeed, with three studly grooms and three lovely brides:

The grandpa of those brides also got married earlier in the story to his first love:

In Triunfo del Amor (2010) we started with one forced marriage and one that didn't happen, but ended with two loving ones:

Max and Maria's earlier incarnations in El Privilegio de Amar (1998):

We close Volume II with the civil and the religious ceremonies of our beloved Ana Paula and Rogelio in La Que No Podia Amar:

No te preocupes; there will be a Volume III at an undetermined future date!

Oh, UA thank you so very much for putting this second wedding album up. I didn't watch these TN's with the exception of LQPNA. Loved the Cupcake's wedding dresses, the one for the civil and the one when she finally did marry Rohell. That last dress was the best of all. It almost looked like a Spanish Flamenco dancer's dress. I loved all the flounces and it looked so good on her. The one I didn't like, was the one when they almost got married in the church, it was too frufruy. This one, the last one, was perfect.

I like the period weddings or when the guys really dress up. I loved the wedding of Rodrigo and Gaviota in Destilando Amor, that was a wonderful wedding.

Thank you so much for doing these UA.

That's a lotta pictures of Jorge Salinas.

Not that I'm complaining. :-)

Gracias again!

Julie, I think Jorge Salinas is Televisa's ultimate Alpha Male. Handsome, macho, sexy, smart; what else is there to want?

I also love the historical wedding dresses and the really fancy ones. I have a photo of Rodrigo and Gaviota, but that's going to be in the next volume along with the weddings that will occur in the current series and the upcoming Amor Bravio.

The flamenco-style dresses are my favorite and had I ever gotten married would have been my first choice, since I did take lessons for eight years.

BTW, has anyone ever seen Adele Noriega in a bridal gown that didn't have a hoopskirt?

Thanks Urban...you have brightened up a rather gloomy Saturday morning in Ohio with those lovely pictures. Flamenco lessons for 8 years! Wow...would love to hear more about that sometime.

I see an irony in the LQNPA set: Sinthia on the left of one of the photos of the civil ceremony and Vanessa at the right of the photo of the religious ceremony. Both -- interestingly -- appropriately dressed.

There is flamenco music in Amor Bravio so I hope there will be dancers, too. More when those recaps kick in (and I have two next week).

Great photos Urban. I always love looking at and rating the wedding dresses in these telenovelas. They usually get it right and choose the perfect look for the final weddings. I wonder if the wardrobe people have to think of it from the very beginning, since the heroine usually wears about 2-4 wedding dresses by the end, and they want the final one to be the best.

To answer your question about Adela Noriega and hoop skirt wedding dresses, the answer is yes. I saw much of Maria Isabel a few months ago, and her dress is not hoop style. Here is a pic: http://gallery.telenovelas-fan.net/displayimage.php?album=84&pos=15

Thanks, Vivi; I never saw that novela. That is a nice dress although her arms are usually too thin for a strapless bodice.

UA--love the gallery. One you left out and am glad you did was Eva Luna's ridiculously ostentatious dress with a train that went all the way out the door.

Another one I didn't paticularly like was Valentina Villaba's STuD traditional dress for Jose Luis.

UA--Could you please add Refugio to the labels for Wedding Volume I? I had to go hunting for it to make sure Lucero's dress wasn't already in it.

I'm glad Rogelio chose black silk for his bow rather than the lavenderish one he had on at his boda interrumptus.

Thanks,
Anita

I added the missing label.

Actually, I wish Rogelio had not worn black in the wedding scene. It would have symbolized the end of his depression and the beginning of his happiness.

Thanks again for this wedding album UA. I always enjoy the wedding dresses even those for weddings that don't happen.

And I'll be around for Labor Day and look forward to that weekend edition.

Something bothered me about Ana Paula's second dress and I've been wondering whether it was remade from the one worn by Maria at the end of Triunfo del Amor. I found a full-length shot of Maria's dress (added it), but couldn't find one of Ana Paula's, but I think they added ruffles to the dress from TdA.

To an earlier comment about saving the best dress for last, I prefer Maria's first dress.
