Refugio Para el Amor #88 Wed 8/8/12 It's Time To Party, But Not Everyone is in The Mood
Recap by Anita
Lo del anterior
Patricio and Matilde are talking in his room. Pato wants her to ask her sister Estelita if there is any news of Luciana. He doesn’t know Rod went after her. Roselena walks in and hears the tail end. She goes off on him. Luci’s name was never to be mentioned again in this house. He wants to know why she is surprised that he would want to hear about Luciana. Even though she is no longer part of the family, he’s going to continue to seek her out. Roselena dismisses Mati and this time tells her to shut the door.
She recognizes that he is an adult [really?] and she can’t pick his friends for him [really?] and she can’t stop him from chasing after Luciana [maybe not], but she wants him to remember that it was thanks to Luciana that she got “sick.” Mamá demands an answer to her trick question, “What’s more important to you, Luci or my health?” Pato calls her bluff reminding her how she hurt the people that he most loves, then turns his back on her and rolls to the other side of the room.
In Het Het
Don A. talks to his dead vampire bat head trophy [it’s probably a rabid wolf, but in any case it’s a bad taxidermy job] on the wall. He can’t figure out why after watering his little flower, another gardener just comes in and swipes her away right from under his nose. He wants an answer to another trick question, “If she [Luci] has a husband, why isn’t he here?”
The two Het Het Chisme Twins follow Luci down the street, trying to catch up and talk to her at the same time. They want to know if she going to take the call from the Licenciado, ese. She stops them short and runs off around the corner. They claim she’s changed, the city has changed her, she’s no longer the country girl she once was.
Luci arrives at Telephone Central. She asks about Don Serapio. Procopio says he’s getting better. Claudio Linares calls back. Luci tells him about winning the ceramics prize and getting orders for more pieces. Claudio tells her that he’s coming to see her in a few days. Is there anything she needs? She avers that it’s hard to find certain pigments there. Claudio says he’ll call her back tomorrow morning when she knows which colors she wants. She tells him she won’t be home in the morning. Instead of stopping there, she lets him know that she will be at the clinic in the morning with her a-ma. Luci realizes a minute too late that she’s made a BIG ooopsie. Claudio wants to know if she’s ill. She tells him no. Instead of stopping there, Luci, being Luci, can’t lie. She tells him there’s a very tiny remote slight possibility that she’s expecting un bebé. A baby, an astonished Claudio replies. Well, not certain, not for sure. Then what makes her think so? Magda and Paz say they can see it in her eyes. But then that’s the way things are determined there. He want to be sure everything is ok and to call him after the tests are done.
At home, Luci tells her mother that, if the test is positive, Claudio wants the three of them, Luci, Paz and Baby, to come to D.F. to live together. Paz says she wouldn’t feel comfortable there; her place is here in S. Francisco el Alto, but if she wants to go and be with her father and lack for nothing, nothing should keep her here. Luci says her place is here, too. Then she gets nauseous from the odor of the tomatoes. Magda and Paz give each other a knowing look.
In the Web of the Black Spider(woman)
Gala holds the pregnancy test. She cogitates. Is she or isn’t she going to take the test. She hesitates. She goes for it. She sets it up. She aims, she scores—nope, it’s negative. [It’s hard to tell if she’s relieved or disappointed—either have extreme ramifications.] Julie has arrived to share the results. She seems genuinely disappointed she’s not going to become a grandmamá [haha]. It’s only been a couple of days, after all, there’s still time, time to try again (with The Rod) to get some positive results.
Gala is getting ready to crash the Torreslanda family gathering. The City Chisme Twins arrive. Gala’s excuse to show up is that she has a present for Roselena that she brought all the way from Colombia (proving that she’d actually been there). The real reason, of course is to nuzzle up to Rod Her Bod Now. She tells the Twins to go ahead—she wants it to seem as though she’s just popping in and doesn’t want anyone to figure out it was all carefully planned ahead of time.
The Cosmic Bed
Oscar and Conny wake up in the same bed to greet a beautiful day with birds chirping in the background. Oscar leans over and kisses Conny and strokes her face. They both have that lovely morning-after glow of two contented individuals who have known the intimacies of the cosmic bed (gracias, Isabel Cordero). There is pretty music in the background while Oscar offers coffee for a queen. They are beginning to learn some useful personal things about each other—they both like their coffee black.
A little later, they are both up and dressed, suitcases ready to roll. Oscar thanks Conny for a spectacular night. Between amorous kisses, he tells Conny he’s so in love with her. She with him. Oscar wants to unpack and spend another night. Conny puts the damper on his ardor. They both have to work tomorrow.
The Torreslanda Estate
Frigida Brigida is still complaining about setting up for the al fresco Sunday family-style get-together. She wants Genaro to get busy and fire up the grill. Hanna is boasting to Melissa & Lula about the menu. Everything is going to be grilled (but she hasn’t mentioned the tacos that are coming.) Pato arrives and the chit chat is kept very general.
Boris arrives. He wants a chance to talk to Rosa before she sees him and runs him off. Rod arrives for the repast “en famille” and praises Hanna for her organizational skills. She says it’s great to be doing this now that everyone is together again, well, except for Tía Conny. Pato, very calculatingly states that it’s only Luci who is missing. That curbs everyone’s enthusiasm. What a way to ruin the moment. [Pato was probably taking notes on who looked the most uncomfortable. Naturally, it was Rod.] He knows darn well that Mama Rosa just admonished him about not mentioning Luci’s name again in this house. Maybe he can claim it was a technicality, since they were all outside the house.
Lorenzo and Fabian have arrived at the Torreslanda gate with the tacos. The security guard remembers them, but won’t let them in and goes to fetch Frigida.
Meanwhile, Max, Gabriel and Marco have joined the party under the canopy; the fiancées are late—the boys say, you know how girls are, they need time to get ready. They decided not to argue with them and if they want to be late, let them be late. Roselena arrives. Boris sees his chance to receive absolution from Santissima Rosa for his bedroom transgression and approaches her. He receives absolution and her blessing to return whenever there are other people in the house.
Frigida won’t let the tacos nor the taco carriers through the gate and tells them to begone. Neither he nor his sister Luciana are welcome in this house. Lorenzo protests that he’s just making the delivery that Hanna requested. Frigida could care less—it’s not her problem. From somewhere in the back, Hanna comes running to save the day and the tacos. The gates are opened, she takes a reluctant Lorenzo by the hand and leads him onto the grounds, much to Boris’ distaste. For Frigida it’s another lost opportunity to stick it a poor muerto de hambre, but she’s going to keep an eye on him because for sure he is a ratero (pickpocket).
Pato sees Lorenzo first, then Rod. Hanna introduces Lorenzo to Max as Luciana’s brother. Everybody welcomes the pair, asking about the tacos de canasta. Rosa appears wanting to know what this “tipo” is doing here. Hanna speaks up, this is Lorenzo, she invited him. He’s the guy that sells tacos outside the Tiendita de la Colonia. Doesn’t she remember him? Roselena says she didn’t ask what his name was, she wants to know what he is doing here. Max says, what’s the problem? Everybody loves tacos. Boris is getting steamed, but not by the heat of the grill. He wants to know if Hanna is going to take Lorenzo by the hand in order to eat his tacos?
Lorenzo doesn’t want to stay although he’s been invited to stay and serve the tacos. They just want to get paid and leave. Rod gets his billfold out. What he really wants to know is how Luciana is (even though he just saw her yesterday). He doesn’t know how much the tacos were and tries to give Lor more than the 300 pesos for the 100 tacos. He tries to get Lor to keep it all. Lorenzo doesn’t want it. Dicho: El dinero no se regala; el amor sí, pero el dinero no (Money isn’t given away; love yes, but money no). Rod tries to justify it by saying that if they stay and serve, that’s more money for them. Lorenzo says he doesn’t want to be here, not even in dreams, after what they did to Luciana. They are only there because Hanna requested an order from them. So, he hands the bill back to Rodrigo and Rod fishes out the right change.
En el Barrio
Matilde is visiting her sister Estelita [Thank you, Vivi for clearing up her source of income]. She asks if there is any word of Luciana. Estelita says no and before Matilde can say no, no, she picks up the phone and calls Licenciado Linares—it’s Sunday, he’s not working so it won’t be a bother and she has his cell phone number. Matilde hears Estelita say, Un Bebé? Woops, the cat and the kittens are out of the bag and scampering across D.F. Claudio is happy; Matilde is thunderstruck. What did he say? What baby? Estelita is matter-of-fact, Luciana’s of course.
Mati’s thunderstorm passes, but she is muy impactada. All of a sudden she remembers that she has to go immediately, she’s overstayed the time Rosa allowed her to have. [Servants don’t get Sundays off when there is a family dinner on?] She’s very preoccupied with the news that Lucia might be a mamá and Rodrigo doesn’t know. She just can’t stay any longer. Mati wants Estelita to send greetings to Luci, but has to hurry off. She really feels that Luci and Rodrigo should be together (for love or parenthood or both, she doesn’t say), it’s just not right. Estelita sees that she is agitated. Mati realizes it and will try to disimular (feign or pretend) or everyone will know something is wrong. Estelita is sure that Luci has Lic. Linares on her side and will help her.
There is a park nearby the barrio complex and Vio, Serena, Ofelia and Marianita are playing ball. Vio hears her name when the others have gone off to chase the ball. Someone approaches with two youngsters in tow. It is Mrs. Marcial—coming to resume hostilities with Violeta, this time with two-legged ammunition. They are Valeria and Errafito (?), two charming, polite little kids. Mama dismisses them to go and play and lights into Vio again with the same old story which Vio tries in vain to deny, that she’s had nothing to do with Marcial since she found out he was married.
In the Comandante’s Office
OK, now are we more convinced that Mr. Marcial is in it for career advancement? We see him reporting to the Comandante, who is impatient with his lack of progress on the Inferno case, one which Marcial himself requested starting. Marcial admits he has nada contundente (lit. nothing blunt, bruising; my definition, nothing firm). Comandante says he needs pruebas (proof). Marcial is sure he’s getting close, sure they are laundering money and sure it is more than an antro. There is a clandestine casino in the back room. He’s knows he’s onto something *big.* Comandante will give him a few more days and advises him to get to work.
The Torreslanda Estate, cont’d.
The tacos are delicious and they’ve been a big hit [although we didn’t hear Rosa’s opinion]. Lorenzo is a hard worker, says Pato, proudly. Speaking of someone who doesn’t work hard, Aldo shows up. He re-charges the party with his bluff ‘n puff. He obviously thinks well of Lorenzo and is sorry he didn’t stick around.
Julie and Gala show up next, ready to do the fashion runway bit, preening as they move toward their target—Rodrigo. He meanwhile, tries to make himself very small and invisible and wonders who invited her. He doesn’t want to see her. Pato thinks it was probably Valentina.
The Rosa-doll has been rewound and rushes up over-animated to see the ladies. Gala launches into her role as party crasher—oh, no, she’s not going to stay, Gala didn’t know this was a *family* get-together. She merely wanted to drop by to bring Rosa a little detalle (apparently this means a present in this context, rather than a detail) she got on her trip. Rosa is thrilled with the lovely lavender, plum and rose print scarf. Max wonders if someone told them about the party. Gala lies easily, no, she hadn’t heard. Rosa immediately invites them to stay. Gala immediately goes over to the table where Rod and Pato are sitting next to each other. She greets and speaks to Pato but places her hand seductively on Rod’s shoulder. Rod looks mighty uncomfortable. Gala doesn’t speak to him. He gets up and leaves the table.
Matilde is back and crosses no-man’s land. She is immediately spied by Rosa who jumps up and wants to know why she’s so late in returning. Mati tells her about the phone call to Lic. Linares and spills the beans about the bebé. Rosa nearly has an attack of apoplexy. In an immediate flashback, she remembers Rodrigo telling her he was Luci’s first. She knows what that means if he finds out. She quickly erases that scene from her mind declaring to Mati that she doesn’t believe it, it can’t be Rod’s. Mati thinks otherwise. She thinks Rodrigo should be told. Rosa grabs her and absolutely prohibits her from saying anything to anybody, underscore nada a nadie (nothing to no one).
Pato rolls over and wants to know what is going on. Oh, nothing (great disimulando on both their parts). But what got her so upset that she grabbed Mati’s arm like that. They were just talking…..about household things. The only reason she claims she’s disturbed is that she only gave Mati a couple of hours off and look at the time she returns. Pato says, “No te creo nada.” He doesn’t believe a word; she was so happy until she talked to Mati and then it all changed. Rosa wants him to stop the interrogations as she stomps off. Mati asks Patito not to ask her anything and follows Rose into the house. Pato is very curious.
In the Cone of Silence
Apparently Rod had no recourse but to go and talk to Gala away from everyone. Actually, they are in that semi-circular basket-weave lounge chair thinggy that Alex and Maria Jose used three years ago. Gala is seen launching her reverse psychology script—you never “querered” me. Seriously, answer me. Not true, says Rod, playing right into her hands. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have gotten engaged. She comes back with, obviously your promise wasn’t that important or you wouldn’t have left me at the altar. He doesn’t want to go back over ancient history. She doesn’t either. She claims it only hurts when she thinks about it. It *was* important to him, too, he just couldn’t help having fallen in love with Luci [Viewerville agrees the timing wasn’t great.]
Gala’s little teatrito is working most excellently—Were? Past Tense? You Sure? You are still in love with her, admit it. He charges her with destroying that love. She diverts any blame for what *they* did to Lucia from herself. All she did was use the picture on the front without knowing it was Luciana. It was all your mother’s and my mother’s doings. Yours because she has this strange obsession/hate for Luciana; mine because she never forgave you for leaving me at the altar.
Gala and Rodrigo continue their civil discussion. Rod knows he was a jerk for leaving her at the altar, but also for not defending Luci when she needed him. So he’s carrying a great weight on his back, too. Gala says she’s not asking him to retake their relationship. She doesn’t think it would work, but they could be “friends” [and she certainly expects “with benefits” to go with it]. She states the obvious to him, they have so much in common—friends, family, pasatiempos (pastimes) [a good compound word], professional activities [Gala certainly is playing a cool hand, and looking particularly lovely and behaving graciously. If I were seeing her for the first time, I’d believe she was a perfect match for Rod the Bod is About to be Hers Again], the movies, dinners…they always got along very well. She suggests they intentar de nuevo (try again). Rod doesn’t want to give her any false hopes. A romantic relationship between them can’t be. She understands clearly. [Dang, nailed him].
After Dinner Chit Chat Among the Younger Set
Everyone is most satisfied with the meal. Boris lets Hanna know that he is jealous—the hand-holding was completely unnecessary. She says it didn’t mean anything. Lorenzo was reluctant to come through the gate and Hanna had to prod him. Melissa and Aldo back up Hanna; Lula backs up Boris [sigue un poco de interes on her part?] Hanna wants to know if Boris doesn’t trust her; he’s seeing things that aren’t there. She’s mystified that Boris straightened everything out with Rosa and now he comes up with this? Boris says it’s not Hanna he doesn’t trust, it’s Lorenzo. It’s all about how the family treated Luciana, protests Hanna. Does he think it’s ok to mistreat Lorenzo, too? She wants to talk to Boris alone. The others leave. Basically, Boris doesn’t want to see her with any other chavo (guy). The turn away from each other—no resolution.
Inside the Mansion
Matilde brings Rose a cup of tea. She reminds Matilde not to talk about you-know-what. Julie comes in to pump her for information. Roselena has her own script to follow—it’s what everyone knows, that Luci already knows Claudio Linares is her father. Doesn’t she realize what that means? She could come back as Luciana Linares. [And that would change her how? Only to narrow minds would this be significant.]
Julie and Roselena continue their discussion. Julie warns that Luciana could come back to recuperar el terreno perdido (lit. recover lost ground; fig. make up for lost time). Rosa thinks the possibility of Luci wanting to take up the social position accorded to her is remote, but Julie warns that Linares might convince her and that would be the end of her is she decides to accuse her. Oh, no, Rosa is not going to go down by herself. Julie is up to her neck in everything—she and Rosa were socios (allies in this case) in everything, knew everything and kept quiet about it. Julie thinks it best if Gala and Rod get married as soon as possible. Gala had been feeling a little off the last few days so Julie made her take a pregnancy test. Roselena is hoping that if she is, this one comes out of the gates first. Julie, surprisingly, answers truthfully, that no, it was negative.
In HetHet
Paz wants to move – TODAY, after they eat. She wants Magda to move with them, but isn’t going to pressure her. Ariche comes for a visit. He sees they are moving and will help. He is a cute kid. Magda feels a little left out when he announces that from now on he’ll be visiting at Paz’ house. Moving time begins. Luci is happy to be back in the house where she grew up. Por fin pienso que me regrese el alma al cuerpo (Finally, I feel my soul returning to my body). Each corner brings me lots of memories. You can breathe in so much love.
Luci, Paz, Magda and Ariche are still moving stuff. Procopio comes to offer his help, but everything is done. He’ll help hang the pictures, instead. Doña Luchita arrives bringing a ladder and stays to supervise. She didn’t think it was very nice of Don A. to leave the place in such a mess. [She must be over him.] Procopio has to go get bigger nails. Luci tells Ariche to get the money from her wallet and he pulls out the photo of Rodrigo, with the inscription on the back professing his undying love for her. Luci grabs it and gets emotional and misty-eyed.
The Torreslanda Estate, cont’d.
The party’s pretty much over and most of the guests are leaving. Roselena has re-emerged to say good-bye alongside Max and Pato. Rosa was about to scoff at the humble tacos when Rod comes up and covers that the tacos were very good, right, mamá? Everyone agrees, so what can she say.
Oy vey, Conny and Oscar have returned. Los dos, se nota, are still wearing their morning-after glow this evening and especially Conny’s happiness spills all over Julie and Roselena. Aldo asks them to join the left-overs (guests, that is). There’s a little kissy-face between the new lovers that makes everyone squeal with delight. [Oscar is looking particularly handsome and supremely satisfied.]
Before they leave, Marco and Gabe tell Rod it looked as though things went well with Gala. Rod tells the Bobbsey Twins that yesterday he went to Luci’s village and he realizes that everything is lost. He begged Luciana’s pardon for not believing or trusting her and asked her to come back with him and they could start over [that is not quite the way Viewerville saw it…but man, Rod looks good in his aviator shades and I’d fall for him right there, if I didn’t remember that Alejandro Lombardo kisses better than anyone]. Luci doesn’t want anything to do with him…and he’s pithed that Luci accepts things from Linares, that she rejected coming from him. If it was so easy for her to erase him from her heart, he’ll have to do the same. [Gala, watch out, you are about to become the rebound gal-a.]
Avances:
Luci tells Paz that this baby will be the grandchild of Linare’s worst enemy, Maximino Torreslanda.
Roselena tells Max about Luci’s pregnancy.
Gala muses, what if the domestica (drink) is pregnant.
Rod tells Pato he thinks Gala is being sincere.
Luci gets the results of her pregnancy test at the clinic and calls Linares with the news.

So Flor, Marcial's wife, seems to be a stalker too it seems. This is like the fourth time she has confronted poor Vio. Both of them should just leave poor Vio alone, already. Vio wants nothing to do with Marcial. Speaking of which, we finally get to see where he works. It would have been better for Marcial if he had been more of an Aldo type. Getting in the back room to gamble and see what was going on. Marcial is pretty smart, he knows something fishy is goin' on there.
Oh, Gala thought she would get Rod back at this little party. She sees it isn't goin' to be so easy. Did you notice the way that Pato basically ignored her? Loved that, he can't stand her or Julie. I think you are right Anita, Rod is going to fall right back into Gala's trap. He is really dumb. I wonder if Gala will have to fake a pregnancy or if she really will get pregnant. I just hope there is not another baby 'napping.
Claudio sure was shocked, about the possiblity of a bebe. I get the feeling between Rosa and Claudio they didn't catch the concept that newlyweds do the horizontal tango, lol. They were sure shocked. Rosa will never believe Rod was Luci's first, no matter what Rod tells her. Same thing with Aurora, she will never beleive that Aurora and Max never had an affair.
Who else thinks Gala might get herself knocked up by another guy within the next 5 episodes so she can pin it on Rod?
Who else wants to slap Mati silly for telling the one person who would be a danger to Luci and her baby (Rosa) about the baby? Judy, line up behind me!
Loved, loved Pato telling Rosa off, TWICE. Don't try that emotional blackmail b.s. on me, and I don't believe a word you are saying. Woohoo! I love Pato.
And I loved Oscar and Connie in their afterglow. Notice how she made a point of saying high to Julie when they floated in? Ha!
I think the pregnancy thing is starting to sink into Luci's head. When she said it out loud to CL, it seemed like the first time she was actually starting to believe it herself.
Paquitadelbarrio will be doing the honors for the next few Wednesdays while I'm visiting my son and family up in the Boston area.
I'll be checking CarayCaray regularly, but don't know if I can get my uni-lingual family to watch Refugio or Amor Bravio. Matriarchs should have *some* privileges, no?

Thanks Anita!
Hurray for Lorenzo & Fabian for rejecting Rod's flashing-the-money-to-los-pobres thing. Don't blame Lorenzo for wanting out of that house of horrors and fast esp with the lovely welcome from Rosa.
I have to say Claudio did not use lawyer-ly discretion with the phone call like "OH AND SHE'S PROBABLY PREGNANT..." Who would do that when the person hasn't even taken the pregnancy test yet?
LOVE CONNY & OSCAR!! Great couple hope Julie doesn't mess with them.
Vivi, YES!!! What in the name of all that was holy was Mati thinking spilling the beans to Rosa when she knows how Rosa feels about Luci, and what she did in the past. No pass for this woman. I've said before that if push came to shove, no matter who or what was at stake, Mati would protect and favor Rosa even if it meant someone else being hurt. Well, that sealed it last night. I was incredulous.
I could see why Claudio took the news with less than excitement. I think his brain cells are working just fine, and he realizes what could happen when the news gets out. He more than anyone knws what good old Rosa might do. Thank goodness Luci has him.
I sort of use to like Boris, but he's toast. As a former teen myself at some point last century, that was THE total turnoff to me when a guy pulled the he-man " I don't want you talking to any other guy". Think so? Bye-bye.
Wish Vio had a better plot than dealing with the naggy wife of a guy who isn't right for her anyway. Bleh.
Vivi, Matilde is dead to me. Totally. Her defense of Rosa has been indefensible, but to tell Rosa the news about the baby and NOT telling Rod, has confirmed her weak character. It's no longer just enabling Luci, she's gone beyond it and is now guilty of harboring yet another terrible secret sure to bring heartbreak.
Pato looked like he was trying not to throw up in his mouth when Gala was stroking his face. She is a fairly good manipulator but to me she has not an ounce of warmth, a drop of kindess or compassion.
Madelaine, I am certain the terrible triumverate - Rosa, Julie and Gala will come up with some fake pregancy for Gala.
Claudio did seem surprised about the baby but my heavens, at least he knows about it. He is shrewd and will likely know Rosa will be planning a terrible retribution. Unfortunately, he will likely not realize Rosa already knows.
Diana
Vivi, i could not agree with you more on loving how Pato just brushes off his mother 'no te creo nada!'.. that will be my fav line from Pato except for when his eyes glow when he talks nice about Luci. ALso loved how Lorenzo told off Rod with the 'love is given freely', not as money. Lorenzo is so much more a right fit with Jana.
And finally, LOVED the morning-after attitude and glow from Oscar and Connie... i wonder what type of speech/lecture she will get from Rosa now, hopefully she will brush off Rosa with a 'no te metas en mi vida' or stte.
Rosaelena is just as determined to believe that Rod is not the father of Luci's baby as she is to believe that Max is Luci's father. She is carrying this delusion to such an extreme she is living in a complete alternate reality.
Forgot to praise Patricio for not falling for his mother's BS. He's got to recover so his smarts can help out that family's gene pool.
If i were mati, i would either have kept quiet or gone directly to Rod (brushing off Rosa not telling her she talked to anyone or found out anything important, then again her startled attitude says otherwise, but she could have said Estelita is ill or stte), pulled him aside and told him. Rod and Luci are apart because they kept things from each other in the first place, so lets try to change the game tactic and bring it all to the table... some of us would say that is not Mati's news to deliver to Rod... so my 2nd choice would have been for her to just keep quiet.
First of all, I'm right there with all of you on Matilde... She has got to go. She needs 3 swats with a wooden spoon right on that hind end! WTH?? Good Lord, she didn't even try to keep a secret... but then again, CL just busted out with it like it was the blue plate special. Good Lord!
I love Pato... but, seriously didn't like the way he mentioned Luci not being there in front of Rod. We all know, including Rod, that Pato loves Luci. Just the night before Rod was heartbroken about the way things had ended (and accepted the error of his ways). I agree with Pato that Luci missing was a bummer, but I think as a brother, he should have kept it to himself - to me, that showed little compassion & character. But. I'll give him a little room there. I LOVED the way he looked when Gagme stroked his face... I was about to vomit myself!
So we know Luci is pregnant and we also know this is a TN, so we can expect either a baby napping, a fake pregnancy or death... maybe all of the above. Gala is not going to sit back and let Rod off the hook to live happily ever after with Luci. Also, it has taken us forever to find out Luci is pregnant, but Gala was taking a test 2 days after doing the deed? Really? Geez...
Rod... tight shirt... aviator glasses - Have Mercy!
I don't think that Pato is unfeeling, but dammit, Rod was an idiot. He caused Luci not to be there. And even though Rod has been weeping tears of regret and admitting his fault (good things) he keeps spreading the story that Luci has something going with CL far and wide, even though Pato has told him this is ridiculous. I think Rod deserves a few external reminders about what a dumba** he's been.
It always amazes me how everytime Julie and Gagme show up unexpectedly at a party or family gathering how angry Nimrod looks at first, and then before you know it, DimRod runs right over to Gagme for a chat. It's obvious these arrivals are a set up---NimRod could leave but no, he runs right to the one that he said he didn't love.
I know that it would be cruel but Rod told her that he didn't love her---if he REALLY wanted to end it between them, all he would have to say is Gala, you're not woman enough to compete with Luciana. If BOBO DimRod said those nine words, he would be over the Gagme problem muy pronto---but then, I guess we wouldn't have a novela.
the gringo
Love how Pato is nice to Lorenzo... Lorenzo has not done anything to anyone there other than be as nice as his sister, so why does anyone need to take it on him like Rosa does?
Frigida... she made me shiver of rage last night, i can't wait for her to be shown the back door once Luci comes in and becomes la Senora TL with all rights and authority that it entails.
I am beginning to wonder if we will even end up having an engagement between Pato and Luci before all is over. But then i think it is DEFINITELY not fair to Pato.
So, Rod was heartbroken the night before realizing his errors, but the next day decides a new tack is appropriate and it's back to the old girlfriend of whom he had originally gone to such lengths to be free? (I still can't believe he waited until it was time to sign at a big public ceremony to decide he couldn't go through with it - what a wimp.)
I think part of what is going on is that Rod's ego can't handle rejection. He thinks Luci should come back to him easily because he's Rich Rod the Bod after all (the taco overpayment thing was so tacky - like his "gift" box to Luci. And he gets so incensed that Luci dare accept gifts from anyone else.) This is one reason his reconciliation attempts are so ham-handed - just grab the girl, kiss her forcibly, stake your claim in front of the town honcho, but turn right around and have a jealous fit about Luci's "relationship" with Claudio Linares. He doesn't compute that behaving badly might be what causes the rejection.
I love Pato and his telling his mom off and needling his brother make me wonder why he isn't the galan. His brother keeps on being a first-class idiot.
Vivi, I'm right behind you, Judy, and daisynjay on slapping Mati. Seriously you know Rosa is irrational w/regard to Luci and you tell her this?!! daisynjay is right - Mati would let harm come to all except Rosa and she knows Rosa is crazy. Though she tries to be a nice person, which makes her indiscretion worse, at this point her can only redeem herself if she saves Luci/her child from la loca. Diana, you said it, she is dead to me!
The Gringo - ITA if Rod has said that to Gala, the TN would be over but at least she would keep coming around. Your description of Nimrod's falling for these obvious attempts to reconcile demonstrate again to me why Rod will never deserve Luci.
Audrey - great analysis! Though Rod has no admitted his weakness in not defending his wife, he continues to be a FOOL about CL. And then he wonders why Luci doesn't trust him. He needs to check his ego.
UA - your comment from yesterday, Rod didn't get upset when Don A seems too familiar w/Luci. True but he goes into fits about CL, tonto!
As usual she is looking to become embarazada only to entrap him.
Don't rule out the possibility of Patricio recovering and stealing Luci away from Rod; that has happened at least once before.
Thought it was especially revealing about Rosa loca when she fully understood that Luci has a bun in the oven. All Rosa could do was kinda' stagger around in a circle because, after all, the only one's that give a rats behind about her unhinged hate for Luci is Gala and Julie. That Mati continues to protect this nut job is just plain wrong.
Not to mention the baby.
I'm beyond wanting to slap Matilde silly. I'm ready to wring her neck! And deep-six Gala and Julie next. This TN is really bringing out my latent homicidal tendencies.
As for Roselena, ship her off to the North Pole where she belongs.
Like all of you, I loved Pato's expression when Gala stroked his face. I thought it was very patronizing of her. Like "poor little paralyzed you". And of course he was powerless to brush her away, which made it worse.
This TN is raising my blood pressure big-time! But thanks so much for the recap, Anita, and enjoy your family visit, no matter what they choose to watch.
Anita- no worries, I don't mind posting. I know I get long winded in my comments, sorry, can't be helped. I just love this TN.
Does anyone know around what ep did Rod tell Rosa that he had been the first man in Luci's life? or did she remember a scene we had not seen before? my guess is this scene was right after Luci was set up and Rod did not defend her and he was having second thoughts of going to see Luci but if anyone can tell me for sure what ep is this on i would appreciate it.
Rod... tight shirt... aviator glasses - Have Mercy!
AMEN TO THAT!! but i want to see Pato shirtless or with a tight shirt like that... can't wait until he recovers, but like others have said, i will rather be patient than see a miraculous overnight awanening of his muscles.
I find myself giving Rod a break where many of y'all do not. I think this is because Rod reminds me of my husband (who is a great guy and will be getting a pair of aviators for his birthday). I totally understand why he mistrusts CLs intentions, but his mistrust of Luci bothers me. My husband has a bit of an irrational jealous bone (maybe its a Mexican thing??). I think Luci is EXACTLY the type of woman he needs, but she is going to have drop a bit of the pride too without losing her backbone. She isn't 100% innocent in this.
I think they have to wind up together because regardless of the flaws in the relationship (which are many), the love is real & true. Ugh... I guess if they acted the way we wanted them to it would be a 2 hour movie, not a 165 episode novella!
And we all know that while the library attack was happening his brain shut down and he gave into his own base feelings of jealousy and suspicion. He would have believed anything about Luci in that moment. I guess it takes him a few weeks for his brain gears to get working and for him to come to the correct conclusion.
Unfortunately, I think his brain already shut down again now that he's hanging with Gaga, and if it takes weeks for his brain gears to get working again, then who knows where he'll be stuck when he finally comes to his senses again.
It's just really hard to root for a clueless galán. Not that Rod is an exception by any means.
This show could definitely do with some more shirtlessness. Surely Oscar works out? Or the friends of Rod's? But at least we know that aviator glasses are the next trend. Gala had a very large version of them on too.

I will make the announcement for the date for that at the end of this weekend's photo gallery. I will be at a wedding vow renewal next weekend so it will be later. Give mi gente time to think about this!
