Refugio Para el Amor #97 Wed 8/22/12 Gala Puts on the Pressure and Pato Almost Confesses

No Puede Ser

Luciana tearfully reacts to a Double Whammy:  Refugio married AND Gala’s pregnant! Pato apologizes for the way they (the Torreslandas) treated her.  She doesn’t deserve this suffering and mostly because it was caused by his brother.    He’s wrong, says Luciana.  It’s not his fault, or mine.  Blame it on this love.  This blind love that wouldn’t accept this just couldn’t be.  Pato observes she’s speaking of love in the past tense out of bitterness, but her love for Rod *still not dead to me, btw* is eternal.   Luci tearfully responds,  “What good is it to have this love in my heart when he’s not here with me, now that we’re separated, now that he’s married another woman!  Rodrigo’s forgotten me…..he’s forgotten me.”

Meanwhile, back in Rodrigo’s Office

Rod is frantically trying to communicate with Pato.  Gabe reminds him cell service is spotty in Het Het.  Rod is anxious for news.  Gabe wonders aloud if he’s anxious for news of Pato, or Luciana?  Hmmmm?  Rod ignores this and just says he’ll try Pato’s hotel later.  Secretary walks in with news that the missing trailer finally made it to Het Het.  Whew!   Good news!  Max walks  in and they bring him up to date on the trailer and Pato.  Max is relieved things are moving along.  He invites Rod out for one “copita”, just one, saying he’ll need it before heading home.  Rod declines, saying he left Gala at her loft earlier and if he doesn’t go back for her, ooof!, he’ll never hear the end of it.   Max notices Rod hasn’t started his marriage off on the right foot.  Rod can only agree, saying they’ve only been married two days and it already seems like an eternity.   *Well, well, Rod --- what did you expect! Yeesh!*  Max can only wince.  *Otro que no canta mal – roughly translated:  another one is singing the same tune*

Gala’s Loft-or as Bette would say, “What a dump!”

Gala cleans the remnants of Julie’s drunken party and scolds Julie for leaving the loft in such a state.  Julie, who’s still nursing a hangover with what appears to be a mimosa, blames it all on Rosita, the housekeeper, for not showing up today.  No way, she’s  going to clean up – why, she never cleaned house even when she was poor.  She tells Gala to chill, she’ll take care of it just call next time before coming over.  Now she sets in to give some motherly advice, a la Julie mind you.  Once the baby arrives, she must go to the gym immediately to lose weight.  And don’t even think about breastfeeding (mamantear), cuz you know what happens – everything starts to sag and stuff.  Don’t worry, says Gala, the nurse or nanny will take care of that!  Julie asks about Rod and Gala tells her how Rod just dumped her here after getting a call from the office about some trailer.  Julie is well aware the trailer must have been connected to the project in Luciana’s pueblo.   She heard Pato telling Roselena all about it.  This further infuriates our Lady Gala that Rod wouldn’t take her for ice cream.  Julie tells her to calm down.  Rod is a very busy man and she will need to adjust.  Lady Gala vehemently disagrees.  Rod’s only job is to make her happy and grant her every wish – whatever she wants!  And if he doesn’t understand she will make it very clear for him!

Het Het

Luciana tells Pato she really cares for him and Hannah because they’ve been so good to her.  But she really doesn’t want to hear about anything to do with Rod.  If he’s decided to marry Gala and raise a family with her, then may God bless them because she really doesn’t want to know anything else about him.  She tearfully begs Pato not to mention his name again.  It breaks her heart every time she hears his name and how is she to forget him if she keeps hearing his name over and over again!!  “Lo quiero olvidar, lo quiero olvidar!  Por favor, lo quiero olvidar!”  By this time, she’s a crying heap in front of Pato.  He slowly raises his right hand and places it on her head to comfort her.  It shocks her but her grief is too much and she continues to cry.  So sad.

Claudio’s office:

Claudio tells his secretary everything went well in San Francisco el Alto.  So well that he’s planning to buy a house so he can be near his daughter and grandchild.  He’s not planning to live there but will be spending a lot of time there.  As soon as this legal judgment comes down on the fraud case, he’ll go back to care for Luciana during her pregnancy.  He wants to protect her.  Luciana is still very afraid of the Torreslanda’s and what they may do to her or her baby.  *You mean, like giving it away and not tell anyone for 20 years?  Nah.  Who would do such a thing?*

Het Het

Everyone is around the dinner table as Luciana absentmindedly watches over the tortillas.  Pato thanks Paz for her hospitality.  They’ve made him feel like family.  He invites them to join him in making the delivery to the children.  Luciana is somber throughout this whole conversation.

Torreslanda McMansion de Locos

It’s just Roselena and Max at the dining table.  La Loca absentmindedly stirs her coffee before she begins to wig out.  Max fills her in on Pato, saying Rod will speak to him later tonight and that the supplies arrived safely.  La Loca could care less about her son’s charitable works when it takes place in Luciana’s pueblo!  Doesn’t Max realize Luci can tell  Pato that Claudio is her father and that Rod is Luciana’s baby daddy!?!?  That’s it, Max is fed up!  “İEstoy harto!”  “¿Harto?”, she asks.  Is he fed up with her?  He tells her not to ask if she doesn’t want to hear the answer!  * whoa *  She tells him he should be on his knees thanking her for everything she’s done.  After all, Rodrigo ended up marrying who he should and not some vile sirvienta!  Max vehemently disagrees that Luciana is a servant and Roselena should know that only too well.  “If you’re worried Luciana will tell Pato anything, don’t.  She won’t do it.  She’s already demonstrated her discretion, her goodness.  Anyone else in her place would have unleashed the worst scandal in your life!”  La Loca: “Oh dear, now you’re defending her.  I’m not surprised, seeing she’s Aurora’s daughter.  Sure, all you can do is praise (alabar) her.  Since she’s your lover’s daughter, she’s the one who deserves all your admiration.”  Fed up, Max walks around her and leaves.  La Loca doesn’t quite know what to do with herself, so she distractedly goes back to stirring her coffee and starts with the crazy eyes.  She begins to frantically speak through clenched teeth.  I’m sorry but I couldn’t catch anything she said here.  Maybe we’re not supposed to understand her rantings.  *Laura Flores did an excellent job here, cuz she scared me!*

Gala’s Loft

Outside, Rod finally gets hold of Pato.  Pato fills him in on everyone and how wonderful everything and everyone is.  He tells Rod that yes, he did tell Luci he married Gala because she’s preggers with his baby.  Rod se queda impactado!  Upstairs, Gala is pithed cuz Rod doesn’t answer his cell.  Julie again tells her to chill, reminding her that Rod married her out of obligation, not love.  Oh, Gala knows only too well he’s still in love with la domestica (hic).  No matter cuz she has him now and that’s the best revenge.  He is now condemned to live by her side without love—suffering and thinking of la domestica (hic) but waking up next to her, Gala.  She smiles her snakey evil smile.

Back to Rod and he is pithed Pato spilled the frijoles.  Pato tells him you can’t cover the sun with your thumb, sooner or later, Luciana would find out the truth.  Rod *dead to everyone but me* reluctantly agrees he can’t escape his bitter reality.  He hangs up and stands there panting – probably trying to suck in enough air before he rejoins his lovely wife who sucks the life out of him.

Het Het

Luciana remains at the now empty dinner table as Paz and Magda clear up.  She finally blurts out that Rod married Gala.  Paz is dumbfounded and Magda angrily notes it didn’t take long for him to rip her out of his life.  Luciana then drops the other shoe, Gala is preggers!  Magda and Paz both agree they deserve each other.  Magda says they’re both liars and hypocrites.  They have no heart.  Luciana asks Paz to forgive her but although she promised Claudio, she doesn’t want to tell Rod she’s expecting.  Paz pleads with her to reconsider.  Even though Rod is having a baby with that other woman, Luciana’s baby has the right to know his father.  Her baby isn’t to blame for Rod’s mistakes.

Torreslanda Depa

The happy couple arrives.  Rod barges in with the shopping bags and doesn’t even hold the door open for the little woman who is screeching at him about how long it took him to pick her up.  She’s convinced she’s not first in his life and he’s going to have to do something to change that.  He reminds her they had both agreed their professional lives wouldn’t change when they married.  Well, she tells him that was before they got married; now everything has changed.  Oh no, no, no says  Mr. Now-I’ve- found-my-b*lls, “What we have here is merely a legal agreement to provide a stable future for el bebé and we agreed that we would cohabitate in a civilized manner!  You agreed to that.”  Nuh-uh, says the Mrs.  “That was before we signed the marriage certificate.  We are now husband and wife, and I insist you give me my proper standing as such!”  Well, Mr. Big Britches thinks it’s just absurd she should ask for something she knows he can’t give her!  And now we have the stare down!

Following Day at Corporativo Torreslanda

Oscar hands Max a document to review very carefully because the hearing is at High Noon the next day.  Max is a little anxious but Oscar is sure they won’t be able to touch him and Claudio will be unable to prove his innocence.  However, if Pedro Campos should turn up and say he acted alone, they’ve got a problem.  Otherwise, he’s Claudio’s accomplice.  Max wants to make sure Oscar and his team is ready for anything Linares may throw against them.  Oscar is confident they’ll win.  Max doesn’t seem so sure.

Linares’ Office

Claudio announces to his team he is ready to confront Torreslanda.  Barrera tells him hopefully by tomorrow morning they will have located the mysterious Pedro Campos.

Het Het

Luciana and Ariche help Pato deliver the school supplies to the town children who rally around Pato.   Lulciana again tells Pato how good he is.  Pato says he’s only paying it forward.  Luciana asks if Pato has ever been in love.   He replies that yes, he fell crazy in love, much more than he ever though he would.  Luciana feels love is the most wonderful feeling in the world.  Pato agrees but says it hurts when one keeps it a secret.  He confesses he’s never confessed his love because it is a forbidden love for him in this condition.  He calls himself an incomplete man unable to protect and defend the one he loves.  She disagrees, saying his physical state doesn’t make him incomplete.  He’s more complete than others because he has the capacity to give of himself to others.  And that, Patricio, is what is important.  He seems about to declare his love for her when all the children return to thank him.

Back home Paz and Magda are preparing a meal.  Paz says she’s feeling overwhelmed (agobiada) about Lorenzo.  Magda assures her Lorenzo is capable of handling things.  Paz agrees but she’s still worried.

Eventually Magda asks if Paz has noticed the way Pato looks at Luciana.  Paz has but doesn’t want to think about it because no matter what, Pato is her brother-in-law and Luci is carrying Rod’s child.  Magda agrees this cannot be and agrees one cannot interfere and like her grandma said, “solo las ollas saben los hervores de sus caldo” – only the pots know the herbs in their soup, meaning sorrow/problem is only known by the person going through it.  *I love Magda’s dichos*  “Ay, Comadre”, is Paz’ only response.

Vecindario

Everyone gathers at Estilita’s department and the taco business is back on!

Torreslanda Depa (aka Battling Bickersons)

Rod is frantically bench pressing, possibly trying to sweat away the demon known as Gala.  Gala walks in and is happy he’s exercising.  She mentions she loves his body *as do I, tee-hee*.  She mentions in passing their mothers bought a beautiful Italian crib for el bebé and thinks it would fit perfectly in this room, which she’s decided will be the nursery.  Rod disagrees, saying it’s a little too early to be making those decisions.  He walks out and she says too herself, “No, Rodrigo, from now on, all decisions with regards to your life, will be made by me!”  Nyah, nyah!

HET HET

Pato tells Luciana he plans to continue visiting and even thinks he can continue his hydrotherapy in the hotel pool.  Ariche is nearby busy working on a sonaja (rattle) for el bebé!  Ruh-roh.  ¿Cual Bebé?  El Bebé de Luciana, announces Ariche.  (out of the mouths of babes……)  Luciana takes a deep breath and says yes, Pato, she’s expecting his brother’s baby!  Pato is flabbergasted!  ¿Como? Yup, you heard right I’m your bro’s baby mamma!  Pato says she must tell Rod.  She disagrees, saying Rod’s already decided to make his life with Lady Gala.  Luciana will stay here and see to it that her baby is happy.  Pato don’t look too well.

She begs him not to say anything to Rod.  Pato tells her Rod must know and the bebé has the right to the Torreslanda name, love, recognition , and protection.  “Protection,” asks Luciana.  “It’s so easy for you to say it but I don’t think your mother will feel the same.  She will despise my baby just as she despised me.”  Pato declares he will defend that baby just as though it were his.  (oh no, my beanie is tingling—this may lead to another storyline)

Just then, Procopio comes by de metiche to talk to Ariche.  Ariche’s no dummy.  He knows Procopio is just there for the chisme so he just tells him everyone’s name.

Corporativo Torreslanda

Upon arriving, Rod is told there is an urgent meeting.  Once in the conference room, Oscar advises him the first hearing is scheduled at High Noon the following day for the TORRESLANDA vs LINARES case.

Linares’ Office

The Linares team continues to prepare for the hearing.  Claudio feels the evidence they will present before the judge is contundente (overwhelming) .  Barrera agrees they have everything but they still can’t locate Campos.  If they could only find him, then they would have everything they need to beat Max.  His assistant (don’t know her name) wonders if they’ll be able to incriminate Max without Campos.  Linares doesn’t necessarily want to incriminate Max, he only wants to prove his own innocence although he would sure like to prove Max was the mastermind.  Barrera feels it will be impossible without proof.  Linares is mainly interested in proving he was unjustly convicted and imprisoned.  Now that he knows Luciana is his daughter, he wants this to be cleared up (ventilar) publicly.  Barrera argues this would leave Max’s crime unpunished (impune).  Linares isn’t worried about that.  Once his innocence is proven, he will continue to work to prove that Max is a white collar thief (ladrón de cuello blanco).

Street Corner – Previously Known as Lorenzo’s Tacos de Canasta Corner

All the domesticas (doesn’t count cuz Gala didn’t say it) are hanging around, worried about where Lorenzo might be.  Aldo shows up and one woman tells him about the Case of the Taco Bust.  Aldo tells them no worry, he’ll call them right now and find out what’s what.  Lorenzo and his compadre have found a new location when Lorenzo gets the call from Aldo.  Lorenzo ‘splains what happened and repeats for the umpteenth time he can’t find any paper proving the coppers confiscated their basket and bicycle.  Aldo jokes that he’s going to take them to a brujo for a cleansing.  He then wonders how this all this came to pass to begin with.  Lorenzo thinks it strange but he was told that a distinguished woman with blue eyes (could it be crazy blue eyes?) filed the complaint.  Aldo hangs up but laughs as he says to himself, “For sure her name is Roselena!”

HET HET

Back at the dinner table again (oooh, everything looks so good) Pato again thanks Paz for her hospitality but he must return to work.  He tells them to call him if they ever need anything.  They remind him the only way to contact them is through the mortuary.

Don Aquiles

Metiche de Procopio has gone to tell Don Aquiles all the chisme.  Don Aquiles wonders why her husband isn’t with her and why all the mystery around Luciana?

MEXICO D.F.

Max is on the phone with Roselena.  He doesn’t know when he’ll be home.  He’s working on the Linares case.  Roselena wonders if he’s at risk.  Max feels Linares will throw everything he’s got at him to diminish Max’ accusations which resulted in Linares’ 20 year jail term.  Roselena wonders what will happen if all of Max’ scams are discovered – the ones used to get Linares out of the way.  Max assures her that won’t happen.  Roselena asks, “¿Que vas hacer, Max?”  He corrects her, “¿Que vamos hacer?  If I’m found out, we’re both found out!”  Roselena is impactada… ruh-roh!

Great recap, Paquitobelbarrio, you captured the feeling of the capítulo perfectly.
I'm a little confused about something. CL wants to move the family away, or only to a big house in the Pueblo?
Judy B-I didn't get a change yesterday to tell you how much I enjoyed your recap yesterday.

Paquita, great recap!! I really enjoyed last night's episode, really hitting home with the relationships formed and newly forming.

"*Laura Flores did an excellent job here, cuz she scared me!*
Did she ever--but despite the crazy cup stirring, I'm still not buying the "mental illness" idea. I've lived with someone with the bi-polar, trouble with reality systems, and the more I see of Rosa, I still think it's someone who is so entrenched in needing to have their own way it becomes their obsession to change whatever threatens that. I would describe it mnore as a personality disorder. Ever see a really spoiled child react being told no-- holding their breath, screaming, destroying something important to get attention? Yeah, now picture that all grown up. That's our Rosa.

" Pato declares he will defend that baby just as though it were his."

Well, I was hesitant the other day thinking the writers may not go there with Pato either claiming the bebe or marrying Luci, but now, as you so aptly pointed out, they just may be going that way. My poor Pato.

And Gala is ramping up the crazy. I'm sure this is the hell we all figured Rod would have to go thru to win back the fair Luci, and my, it will be hell. She even has the audacity to want to take his man-cave for a baby's room. The HORROR!
(Frankly, why don't they just move to a non-bachelor pad place? Just saying). Like watching what Rosa must have been like 20+ years ago.

And for the love of all that is holy...who thought it would be the Champagne Queen spewing words of wisdom and caution to her evil spawn? Must be the hangover!

And I plan to be leaving for Het Het after work tomorrow. The food looks fab, the area looks so relaxing, ( no wonder CL and Pato want to keep coming back) the kids are adorable ( and I am a total sucker for kids) and I want to haggle Magda for that white with black trim shirt. She's worn it twice now, and I want it every time I see it. All are welcome to join me.

Paquita: I thought this was absolutely wonderful. Exceptinal recounting of last night's events in which pivotal secrets were revealed. Your embedded vocabulary was an extra treat.

"Rod is frantically bench pressing, possibly trying to sweat away the demon known as Gala" was my favorite line of many.

Poor Luci...She has really suffered...

Paquita, my comprehension has much to be desired, so I thought Pato was intimating he might marry Luci to provide protection. Thank you for clarifying this very important point: "Pato declares he will defend that baby just as though it were his. (oh no, my beanie is tingling—this may lead to another storyline)". Was that your thought as well? daisy, I see you have thought this may occur. I did not see this coming at all. As you noted "my poor Pato". Who, by the way, continues to be uber hawt and looking better every day.

I just loved how Pato asserts himself, whether motoring at a fast pace across the lawn, or speeding up to Rosa, forcing her to take a step back. He seemed so at home with Luci and her family! So relaxed, so happy!

Pato and Luci are it for me right now. Rod and Gala can menace, threaten and bicker forever for all I care!

Paquita, thanks again!

Diana

Paquita- Wonderful recap, and two days in a row after your fabulous Amor Bravio recap.

I am so glad that Pato learned about the baby. That was a great scene between him and Luci because they disagreed with each other without it turning nasty (as arguments with Rod tend to). He didn't ever give her an answer about keeping the baby secret from Rod. I really don't see how they could pass any baby off as Pato's in his condition, so I don't think that storyline is coming. But he may have to sacrifice himself at some point to protect Luci and/or the baby. At least that's what I thought when he said that, much like my spidey sense goes off every time CL says he'll protect them with his life. A hero's death for Pato might be the only resolution to this great, unrequited love. As much as I would like to see him fall for someone else, his love for Luci is SO deep, I can't see it happening.

I also loved that scene where he strokes Luci's hair. He would/could do anything for her.

Rod is getting just what he deserves. I cringe at the scenes with him and Gala, but I don't feel sorry for him (yet). And Pato reminded me why when he said to Rod that now that he's spent time with Luci and her family in her home (as Rod has done), he is even more surprised that Rod could have ever believed the crap Rosa-Julie-Gala tried to get him to believe about her. This is exactly the same thing Luci said to him in one of their arguments. It just drove home the fact that Rod is an idiot.

I didn't get everything that Rosa La Loca was saying in her crazy rant, but I got the tail end of it. She was cursing Luci to rot in hell. She said it over and over. Scary!

Emarie- CL wants to buy a big house in Luci's town, where they will all (Luci, baby, Paz, Madga) live together. He wouldn't be there all the time, since he will still keep his home and do his work in D.F., but he plans to spend a lot of time there (so far he has come to visit every week since Luci got back). I am guessing there would also be enough room for Lorenzo and Vio to have their own rooms when they come to see their mamas too. They did say the house has something like 8 bedrooms. I don't see Paz or Magda giving up their own homes. They've already been having a little argument over who should live with whom-- Magda wanted Paz to keep living with her (not practical with her tiny house), and Paz and Luci want Magda to come live with them since Lorenzo's bedroom is free. With CL visiting all the time, if they don't want anyone to have to double up in a bed (like at Magda's), it does make sense to have a bigger house.

Of course, for our love storyline to move forward, it seems like Luci is going to have to go back to D.F. at some point. Right now I don't see what would convince her to go back to that city that only brought her trouble and heartache.

Thanks recappers mucho !! I think I missed something the other night. How did Lorenzo get out of jail ??

First of all, Pato scootering around in that wheelchair gives me more entertainment than anything else. He is having way to much fun with this role - he owns it!

Secondly, if I were Rod I would shoot myself in the head. Seriously, I would shoot myself before I would spend one more day with that heifer! Ohhh she is evil!

Great one, Paquita!

For a second I thought Max would pull a Jack Nicholson as in "You can't handle the truth!" The spoon against the cup was getting on my last nerve.

As for Rod, talk about out of the frying pan into the fire! So much for that old song about "I want a girl just like the girl that married dear old Dad", which would now lead him to tell the singer "Be careful what you wish for."

I don't think Pato will stay quiet about Luci's baby. He will tell Rod sometime soon unless Rosa silences him permanently. I wouldn't put it past her.

Does anyone see a baby switch in Rod's future? Gala will find out that hers is a girl and pay Don A to switch it with Luci's boy (I think she will have the boy, which will thrill Ariche to the marrow).

Thanks Paquita for the great recap!
I too love Brandon P in the role of Pato... what a great character, and yes, Brandon seems to have a blast driving that chair around. But his facial expression is amazing.

We all know that Rod will be in the blind for a while longer... but this novela is giving us little bits of enjoyment as Pato digs up all the 'secrets' of RosaE, and meanwhile Claudio is unmasking Max little by little...
Can't wait until the next few eps... that hearing/trial should be a blast... too bad they don't have Julio Aleman anymore (RIP) to play the judge. he was wonderful each time he got that role.
But we will continue being addicted to this story... as much as it mimics the old novela rosa in which a big lie separates the lead couple for a long time and then we get the happily ever after in the end, there are enough interesting characters to watch while the big mess unravels.

As far as what Rosa whispered while she frantically stirred her tea cup... she was whispering stte of 'may the devil/demon take over Luciana (and her baby, perhaps) and shove her down to the deepest place in hell...' ... i only got the first little bit, the rest was not even captioned or understandable...

Paquita-wonderful recap, so enjoyed it and thanks for doing double duty with your Amor Bravio recap.

GASP could it be??? Gagme could be a *domestica*, she sure knows how to clean, jus' sayin'. I like how Dead to Me is suffering, serves him right for being such and A$$hat, but I just love how Gagme is suffering. She thought she would own him lock, stock and barrel, but she owns nothing with him. His heart is stone cold toward her. Sure he married her, but you can't force someone to love you. I think she thought her sexploits would snag him, but was she ever wrong.

Ariche, what a doll. I knew as soon as he said bebe Pato was going to find out all about it. And yay Pato. I love how he always steps up to the plate. Wanting to protect Luci and the baby. He and Melissa, and Hanna always want to do the right thing. I wonder where they got this from, considering the family they come from. I know we have been ragging on Mati, but I wonder if they got this from her? After all she basically raised them. She may enable la loca but I think she must have done something right with the kids, maybe not Melissa, but certainly with Pato and Hanna. Don't know what happened to Dead To Me though.

And Dead To Me has no business giving Pato a hard time. Dead to Me made his bed, and now he has to lie in it. Dead to Me should have stuck to his idea of not marrying Gagme and just supported the baby.
Now he gets his b*lls back, I love that line. It's a little late for that.

Aldo cracked me up with his line when he hung up with Lorenzo, her name wouldn't be Rosa would it??? That made me laugh. I am glad the boys got their business up and running again. Maybe Aldo will help them out.

I can't wait for the hearing Torreslanda v Linares. I hope Claudio really trounces them in court. I wonder if we will ever meet this Pedro Campos and the reasons why Max had to have it all. I would be curious to know why.

Daisynjay- I agree with you about la Loca. She is like a big spoiled child that doesn't get her way. And damning Luci to hell, that's where la loca will end up. She is already living a living hell now. All her secrets seem to be coming out, little by little. I am glad they are. La loca deserves everything she gets. I notice with her everytime she pulls one thing, something else comes out.

Love Magda and Paz, what great women. I too like Magda's sayings, she is so wise. They will be great role models for the bebe. What a contrast this family is compared to the Torreslandas!

Copio cracks me up, but I don't like the way he runs to Don A with every little thing.

Urban- I laughed during that spoon scene though. The look of annoyance and disgust on Max's face was priceless, and then he just dropped the cookie he was about to eat. LOL! The sound people did well in that scene too. No music untile Rosa and Max started arguing, then silence once again when he left so that all we heard was the spoon clinking against the cup.

yes, Gala is so obsessed with having the HEIR BOY that i would not discount the possibility of the baby switch..
but i recall a conversation between Julie, Gala and Valentina just after they found out Luci was Claudio's daughter, that Julie said Claudio was the MAJORITY PARTNER in the TL business, so i am not discarding the possibility of Claudio taking over the TL empire after he is declared innocent, and we would have a similar situation that we had in El Privilegio and its sequel Triunfo dA, where the heroine is brought back into the toxic environment as a 'in your face' move by her relative.

I almost lost it crying when Pati told Rod over phone that not only he did not understand how Rod could not believe Luci, but how he wished he could see, even if for just ONE NIGHT, the same 'family' feel in his own family home as he just experienced at Paz's table in Het Het ... (he wished the mood/vibe at Rosa's dinner table would as delightful/ peaceful/ enjoyable as Paz's dinner table at Het Het).

Rosa seems to see the walls closing in on her, and she keeps trying to cover the sky with her thumb. ... Have to admit Laura Flores is doing a great job here, as ROberto Blandon with Max.

A BIG thank you Paquita. I loved your chapter title "Torreslanda McMansion de Locos." I also liked, Rod is trying to sweat away the denon known as Gala. So many great lines -- another was "He hangs up and stands there panting - probably trying to suck in enough air before he rejoines his lovely wife who sucks the life out of him." Great work Paquita, great work.

DimRod being a rich Torreslanda, probably knows gem stones fairly well. He had a beautiful diamond but now only has a piece of coal. Good going DimRod. Maybe there are two Torreslanda's that need to visit the brain doctor.

I too don't know how Lorenzo and Fabian got out of jail and back in business.

Urban---Yes, I agree. Luci's baby will be a boy while Gagme's will be a girl. I hope that Gagme doesn't try to hurt her baby. OMG! Gagme for a mother!
the gringo

I don't think they threw Lor and Fabian behind bars. Just confiscated their bike and basket and charged them a huge fine, which they can't pay. Perhaps if they dn't pay the fine by a certain time they would get jail time? They also can't find the ticket to claim their bike and basket even if they brought the money to pay the fine. It's a two-fold problem.

But in the meantime, Don Trini has let them borrow the old bike he loaned them before (it's the new bike from Aldo that got taken) and Vio found an old basket for them to use. They also found a new corner, although not as busy, nice or lucrative as their old one.

Vivi, always the one to straighten us out ... Lor and Fab. Thanks.

Paquito, terrific recap, thanks mucho.

I wonder what Rosa had to do with Claudio going to jail for 20 years? But she must have played a part after what Max said. Vivi, do you remember anything being said.

Rosemary Primera

Thanks Paquita. You're such a good writer....so enjoyable to read. And while I'm not following Amor Bravio right now, I'm sure that recap was terrific also.

Love every scene of Luciana and Pato together, and was delighted that Ariche spilled the frijoles; even more so that it looks like Pato is going to stand up to his mother like Rodrigo never did (not for long anyway.)

Really sympathize with Rod working out his anger with exercise because that's how I do it also. Why oh why is Gala going to try and deep-six his one area of rage release? Guess she just loves tormenting him to the max. Along with Vivi, I'm not feeling sorry for him YET....but if that exercise room goes, I will be!

Rosemary- Although Max is likely the one who actually engineered the fraud, Rosa knew about it from the beginning. (Unlike him finding out about her crime 19 years later.) So she is his accomplice. If he falls, so will she.

Vivi- I could be wrong here, but the last part where Max said he and Rosa could both go down, Max may have been referring to Rosa's 'napping of Luci. I think Max is afraid this will also come out at the hearing, Claudio already knows now and could bring this up as a fraud perpertrated by Rosa. Just a thought.

Vivi, thanks for the info. I thought maybe she worked at the company when they were first married and played in hand in the fraud. But, I am glad you cleared fog.

RP

Max might be afraid Claudio would bring it up, but it really wouldn't make sense since the kidnapping is not pertinent to the fraud case, plus Max knows CL is keeping quiet about the kidnapping because Luci asked him to.

This is my last stupid question - was Pedro Campos working for Max when he transferred the money?

RP

I don't think Claudio would bring the Luci 'napping issue up on the hearing himself, but he certainly woudl not keep quiet if it came out to light. he certainly would not let it be brought up with a different version than the true one.

Max will probably try to get the judge to think that Pedro C was Claudio's partner in crime, but he was really Max's. that is why we see Max calling Pedro to make sure he will stay far far away hidden at least until the trial/hearing is over on the fraud issue.

PDB great recap. I gave a loud squeal when Ariche spilled the beans!!!! I knew he would play an important role. Wasn't Lucy's baby ahead of Gala's? That it was concieved while they were still married? Then it is a legitimate Torreslanda and would be first born. Right? Max, being surrounded by all the legal people in his empire would recognize this unless he gets affected by his problem with Claudio. But then if CL wins the case, it wouldnt matter whether the baby becomes the first heir apparent to Torreslanda. Ha ha ha, Gagme, eat my leftovers, you'll be poor as a mouse and maybe you can be Luciana's domestica so you can have money for your baby.

Vida2- Yes, Luci's baby will be first. Max even pointed out to Rosa that Luci's baby, not Gala's, will be their first grandchild. And if what most here think is true happens-- Luci's baby being a boy-- then it will be the first heir to the company (I still think a girl can also inherit the company, but oh well). That would really bug the crap out of Gala and Rosa. Ha!

I really think Max will redeem himself before the end. He loves his children and now his grandchildren to be. He even likes Luci. He probably doesn't care for Gagme. He still needs to deal with his issues with Vicki.

RP

The facade of the Torreslanda house looks like a mausoleum where all the dead are buried. Het Het looks so much more inviting for the living.

Uh oh, Luci's baby first, right .. makes it even more probable that there's going to be some baby meddling. And Max cannot be redeemed ... not with his sadistic behaviour. He's one sicko.

Paquita thanks so much for your recap (double duty w/AB)!

Vida,
Gagme, eat my leftovers, you'll be poor as a mouse and maybe you can be Luciana's domestica so you can have money for your baby.
ROFLOL!!! that was great!!

Can you imagine Gagme as a single mother? God help that baby!!

Did I mention that Gagme's white dress for her civil wedding with Rod was HDEOUS?? From the front it was ok, but with her big hips and rear end, it made them look even bigger and did not help her proportions from a back view.

Awesome recap!! Thanks Paquita. All I could think of was Max as a scam artist. What a pair. They both have the conscience of a flea.Which is an insult to all fleas. While La Loca was getting rid of CL's kid and Max was stealing from him. Luci should stay strong and hold on to her convictions. The baby will be her consolation. I personally wish she had fallen for Pato instead of DTM. DTM hasn't valued or appreciated her. La Loca doesn't irritate me as much as Mati and her sister Estel. They keep La Loca very well informed of Luci's activities.

Olive

Olive- You are not alone in wishing Luci had fallen for Pato instead. But then we wouldn't have a story, because Pato would have nver let things get to this state. Let's actually break down all the things Pato would NOT have done:

-He would have never dated, gotten engaged to, and waited to the altar to dump Gala. He hates the b!tch and always saw through her.
-He would have never romanced Luci while engaged to someone else.
-He would have never let his mama or Frigida or his ex girlfriend treat her with disrespect.
-He would have never turned into a deaf, angry jealous hulk at the mere thought of Luci being friends with a man who wasn't him.
-He would have never broken his promise to her mother and had sex with her before the Church wedding, meaning Luci would not be a knocked-up single mother.
-He would have never doubted Luci's honesty and goodness just because his mama and ex showed him a non-racy picture of her working at a bar.

I could go on and on. He would have probably also have moved to Het Het instead of trying to force Luci to live in his world and they would right now be living ther doing charitable work and selling ceramics worldwide.

Ha ha ha, Gagme, eat my leftovers, you'll be poor as a mouse and maybe you can be Luciana's domestica so you can have money for your baby.

Perfect Karmegeddon!

Love the recap, I always have so much fun when I come read this blog. Since my sister-in-law went back home to Mexico City after her vacation here I have felt pretty alone watching my novelas... until I found you guys! Who knew there was such an underground novela movement lurking in the shadows of the internet...

In regards to Crazyeyes Rosalena, I could not make out everything she was muttering during her tea-stirring-seizure either. All I could hear was something about Luciana getting snatched up by a demon and carted off to a deep part of hell. It was all very spooky. My sister-in-law told me that Laura Flores always get roles where she is crying/ crazy because she is so good at it.

I really loved the part of this episode where Pato was comforting Luciana and he was able to lift his whole hand to lay it on her sweet raven-haired head. That was a pretty powerful moment for me. I really wish they could end up together, I love his character so very much! I hope his mother doesn't do something to him after he confronts her about Luciana's pregnancy when he goes back home.
