Refugio Para el Amor #131 Wed 10/10/12 Uncle Patricio Makes Viewerville Cry Him a River

Ayer –
For the best coverage, see the end of JudyB’s recap from last night.

•Patricio is on the phone with Rodrigo in Shanghai.  He tells him he’s the father of a boy.
•Lorenzo calls the moms.
•Roselena is on the phone telling Gala about the birth of Luci’s son.  Such Bad Luck... it’s a maldito niño, born out of wedlock, who will have the Torreslanda name.  Gala throws the pillow and screeches, Maldita Domestica (it’s as good as the Estudpidas she used to throw around).  She’s royally pithed that she’s going to produce a girl, while La Criada Esa has brought forth a boy.   She wants Rose to keep Rod from giving the ‘bastardo’ the Torreslanda last name.  Rose says that is something she can’t do—force him not to give the baby his last name.  Rodrigo and her family wouldn’t stand for it.  Gala, La Fría, says, then we’ll just have to make sure that escuincle disappears from our lives for ever.  Rosa, La Reina de Hielo, says, count on it.

Hoy –
The Clinic
Lorenzo, Patricio and Violeta are in Luciana’s room at the clinic.  It’s quite spacious for a neighborhood clinic, but ni modo.  Luciana is still sleeping off her crisis: the emergency C-section and related complications due to the preeclampsia.  Patricio is there with her, as is Lorenzo and Violeta.  He thanks Lorenzo for letting him sign as the person responsible for making decisions on Luci’s behalf.  Lor says that’s not a problem, he knows how much Pato cares for her.  Pato says it was a matter of having so little time to make an important decision on her behalf.  Vio vows not to leave Luci’s side for anything.  Lorenzo has to go; so does Pato.  Vio settles into the couch para vigilarla (to keep watch over her).  Luci comes to.  She wants to know where her baby is.  She starts getting agitated, but Vio calms her down.  The baby is safe, in the nursery.  Luci can’t see the baby until tomorrow.  Luci keeps repeating to no one in particular that she’s the mother of a beautiful boy.

TL House, Patricio’s bedroom
Pato is back in his room at TL House.  He’s on the phone checking with the capitán of the corporate jet on the plans to send the plane to Het Het to pick up Paz.  The weather is still questionable.  Pato wants them here as soon as possible and the capitán is to bring them personally to the clinic.

Shanghai, China Hotel
Rodrigo is pacing the hall outside his hotel room.  Claudio joins him and wants to know if there is any news of Luci.  Rod says no.  Claudio promises they’ll leave as soon as their business is finished.  Claudio adds that he’s happy to know his grandson is well, but Luciana’s health has him preoccupied.  Rod is sad they are so far away.  Claudio agrees; after all their careful planning, life threw them a curve.  Rod wants to be close to Luci and his son—if Luci will let him.  Claudio promises to talk to her as he doesn’t want the same thing to happen to Rodrigo that happened to him when Luci was born.  We can’t forget what my mother did, but please, let’s not talk about that anymore, asks Rodrigo.  She is my mother, but every time I think about what she did, a little more of my affection for her dies.

TL House, Master bedroom
Roselena is getting ready for a lunch date with Gala.  Max tells her not to temp fate; you’ve gotten everything except Rod’s forgiveness.  If you try anything against Luci, your children will never forgive you.  She’s in a foul mood.  She’s snapping at Max; she’s done everything he’s asked her to do, but nothing, nothing pleases him.  Even stalwart loyal Frigida gets hissed at when she comes to tell her mistress that Gala’s waiting for her and where her children are (Jana’s at school and Patricio is going to the clinic to see Luciana).  When RE tells her the baby has already arrived and it’s a boy, Frigida starts musing out loud over Luci’s baby boy and oooh, what if Gala has a girl---it would be the end of the world.  RE sweeps out.  Frigida is left to mull over the facts: bottom line, Luci wins the match.

Het Het
The two moms are packing; Paz seems to be packing stacks of thick white diapers.  They are probably receiving blankets and sheets for the bassinet and the crib, but they look like diapers to me, anyway everything is white.  Can you picture Gala washing diapers in this day and age?  I guess in Het Het, using and washing cloth diapers is cheaper than disposable plastic (better for the environment, too).  Don Bombastico arrives and wonders if they’ve thought over his offer to help the ladies get to the capital.  Fijate, he wants nothing in return, just to be helpful.  Paz says they won’t need his help because Patricio is sending the plane to fly them out.  She thanks him for the offer.  A little disappointed and losing his hot air fast, he asks them to greet Luciana for him.  He tells Ariche to take care of the ladies and say hello to Luciana.

The Clinic
Patricio arrives back at the clinic the next morning to relieve Vio, who has been there all night.  She’s going to go home, take a shower and return.  Luci wakes up, then sees Pato.  Where’s the baby?  He’s in the cunero (nursery).  Pato has already been by to see him.  He’s gorgeous and looks like her.  Luci wants to see him.  Pato reassures her that they should be bringing him soon for a feeding.  He tells her what a scare she gave them when her pressure went up but it’s now under control.  She only remembers before coming to the hospital that her head began to ache, the shaking, Estelita and Mati.  She asks about her mother.  Pato tells she and Magda will be coming soon.  He takes a call from the pilot.  The weather is ok in DF to take off, he’s just leaving, but was delayed because the weather in SFEA is still stormy.  Pato reassures Luci there’s nothing to worry about; we’re all here to take care of you until your mother gets here.

The Plotters Lunch
The Three Killer Bees (thanks, Rosemary Primera) are lunching and dissing & cussing the current Baby TL situation.  Rose says that Pato is sending the plane for Luciana’s mother and once she arrives, it will be nigh impossible to make the infant disappear.  Juli needles RE a bit by hoping she’s not going to give this baby to her chauffeur and have history repeat itself by having him reappear as Luci did.  Gala La Fría says they can leave no trace of this escuincle behind.    Roselena explains that’s why she called them to the situation room/er restaurant to tell them of her plan to remove that child from the face of the earth.

The Clinic
Luci does remember the nice doctor who attended her (not to be confused with Dr. Nice, the ob-gyn).  The nurse brings Luci and Rodrigo’s baby in and places him in Luciana’s arms.  Madonna and Child in White against a Sky Blue background.  Luci sees her baby clearly for the first time.  Patricio gazes on the tender scene and asks to get closer.  Luci watches as he strains to reach out with his right hand to touch the baby’s head.  Luci is overjoyed to see him do this.  He asks if he can hold the baby.  Luci says of course.  The nice nurse takes the baby and puts him in the crook of Pato’s arms.  He looks down at the baby, tears streaming down his face.  He’s crying, Luci is crying, we’re crying buckets, as he greets the baby, “Hello, Rodrigo, I’m your Uncle Patricio, your daddy’s brother.”  His heart aches to be in Rod’s place as the father and overcome with emotion being able to be in Rod’s place by Luci’s side right now.

He asks the nurse to reach in his jacket pocket and get out a box to give to Luci.  The nurse opens it and Luci looks at the medallion of the Virgen de Guadalupe he had Vio get.  Luci wonders how he knew.  He wants to put it on.  It’s a struggle, between nurse, Pato and the baby, but he does it.  Luciana looks on adoringly.  “This is the first thing I do for your baby, Luciana.  I will speak for him as though he were mine.” Luciana says, gracias, gracias.  We get a close-up of this beautiful child swaddled, with Patricio’s protective gift around his neck.

Patricio continues to hold the baby.  The nurse offers to give him back to Luci, but she says, no, he’s ok there.  The nurse leaves and says she’ll be back in a bit.  Pato thanks Luci.
Luci – When you recover, when you get married, when you have children, you are going to be the best father in the world.
Pato – I’d like nothing more.  To marry; to have a child like this little angel.  But I know there are things that will never happen for me.
Luci – No, Patricio, you will.  You deserve to have all the good things life can give you.
Pato – With you, life has already given me much more than I could ever have hoped for.  With you and with your son.

Pato leaves Luci when it’s time to nurse the baby.  The nurse and Luci talk.  Who’s more guapo, the uncle or the father?  Luci thinks they are both muy guapo, but her mushashon, mas.

TL Kitchen
Several episodes ago, Frigida and Mati were bantering and arguing in the kitchen over place settings and food prep.  They’re still at it.  Frigida wonders how many folks will be there for dinner, not how many Mati thinks will be there.  She asks Mati if she’s seen the baby yet.  She wonders who he looks like.  No, not yet.  Frigida says, don’t tell anyone, but she’s going to buy a gift for baby Rodrigo.  I bet he’s as good looking as his father, even though she grudgingly has to admit Luci is pretty, too.  Then they go back to bantering.

The Plotters Lunch
The Three Killer Bees are formulating their invasion plans—how to get access to Luci’s baby—since Juli doesn’t think she or Gala will be able to get anywhere near the hospital.  Gala thinks she could come and go, but Juli points out that suspicion will fall on her and RE first if anything happens to the baby.  Gala is sure Rod is going to catch the first plane home to see the baby.  She’s still pithed that Luci had a baby boy.  Juli says, enough with the lamentations, whatever they are going to do has to be done before Rodrigo gets back.  RE excuses herself from the plotting/er lunch, she needs to go buy something.  Gala looks genuinely depressed at this moment.

Tacos de Canasta Enterprises, Ltd.
Business is booming and Lorenzo and Fabian are selling tacos as fast as they can.  Lor really wants to be with Luci, but is grateful to Pato for standing in for him. The talk is fast and furious and both aware that a big storm is coming.  The weather might delay the plane that’s going to get Paz & Magda.  Just then the white SUV appears with Jana and Melissa.  Shouldn’t she be in school?  Ya, but she got out early.  She’s going to the clinic to see her nephew.  Won’t he come?  We know he wants to.  Fabian just looks at him—Lor is hopeless when it comes to Jana.

Shanghai, China Hotel – TL Office Conference Room
The men are in the hotel lounge having a face-to-face skype-conference with the TL Home Team.  Max wants to know how the contract closing is going with Mr. Shu-Wa (my own interpretation, since everyone pronounced it differently); Rod wants to know how Luci and his son are.  Marco & Gabe want to go see her, but aren’t sure if the visit would be welcome.  Max says Pato went early this morning.  Claudio then asks Norma about Luci.  Norma reports that Luci is recuperating and the baby is fine.  What about being discharged (dar de alta)?  No word yet.  Max thinks they’re wasting important business time on this call and wants them back on point.  Rod retorts, there is nothing more important than Luciana…and your grandchild.

The guys are wrapping up the conference call.  Claudio and Rod are going to take the first plane home after the contract is signed.  Max mentions that they are 20 hours away.  Gabe tells CL & Rod that there is a delay in sending the jet for Paz due to weather conditions.  Rod says it’s very important that Paz arrives to be with Luci. (The anvil is swinging; and it swings for thee, Luciana.)

The Clinic
Lor, Jana and Melissa come bursting in through the door (I guess Lorenzo didn’t think about it for long).  Pato joins them.  The nurse kindly leaves the baby for awhile longer.  They are oohing and aahing over the baby and the girls are taking pictures on their cell phones to send to everybody—para su papa y tu papa, Jana tells Luci.  Sadly, Pato can see that Luciana’s thoughts are with Rodrigo and Claudio, but especially Rodrigo.

The baby is now back in the nursery.  The girls show Luci the pictures.  She’s very grateful for their company, but she wishes the rest of her family from SFEA were here, and her father, and Rodrigo, too, so he can meet his son.  They know Paz must be worried, so Lorenzo suggests calling her.  Luci agrees that it would reassure Paz to hear her voice.

Het Het
The anxious moms are pacing the house.  They’re still waiting word on the flight.  Maybe they should have gone by bus.  Paz is worried.  Magda reminds her that everyone who cares, is with Luci.  Yes, except me.  Lorenzo calls her from Luci’s bedside and lets Luci talk to her.  They are both very emotional.  I miss you.  I’ll be there soon, says Paz.  I’ll be waiting, replies Luci.  Ariche gets to talk to her, too.  He wants to know what the baby looks like.  An angelito?  Like the ones in church?  Yes, exactly.  Meanwhile in said church, the cura greets Don Aquiles with a nice to see you in church.  Don A wants a special petition made for Luciana Jacinto Flores during mass.  She has just become a mother and God has to help her.  The cura says he can count on it.

Local DF Gift Shop
Roselena walks into a gift shop, surveying the wares as if they were all cursi and beneath her.  She browses briefly by the glass cases and stops at one and hardly looking, points down.  We see it—a sleek, abstract wooden crucifix.  To each his own, but in my opinion it’s probably the most unbaby-like gift one could give or receive.  If you really want to give a baby a crucifix, why not pick out a colorful, Mexican folk art piece, like the one next to it.

TL Mansion Kitchen
Frigida and Mati are either back in the kitchen or still in the kitchen.  Frigida is still chiding her on preparing too much food for so few people they have to eat it all week.  Mati’s motto is, ‘you never know—be prepared.’  Frigida is sure Pato and Jana will be visiting Luci every chance they get, as if she were queen of the estanque (pond, reservoir).  Mati gets on her about speaking ill of Luci, especially when she was going to get the baby a present.  Frigida says there’s a mighty big difference between a present for Rodrigo’s child and who the mother is.  Mati thinks she should start by respecting the mother of that bebito.  Frigida, still on her high horse says Matilde doesn’t understand anything.  It’s useless to try.  Someday, everyone will recognize that not only is she, Frigida, the “ama de llaves,” but “the pillar of this house.”

At the Iglesia de Roselena
Rosa is getting the crucifix blessed by the Padre.  It’s interesting and well designed; it’s just not something for a baby (says me, again).  Padre asks Rosa to tell Luci when she delivers it that he will be coming around to see her soon—and wasn’t it too bad Rodrigo wasn’t there for the birth of his child.  Well, says Roselena wearing her air of superiority with all the indignity she can muster, one must remember the child was born outside of marriage.  Padre says it’s a child, after all and reminds her *why* that child was born outside of marriage.  Rosa doesn’t need reminding, but she prefers to ignore the statement.  She gets ready to leave and then turns back and asks the Padre for a blessing.  He complies, but his sigh tells us he’s not thrilled with the task.

Nicole’s Nail Salon
Nicole is getting ready for an appointment.  She’s so excited it sounds like a date, but then I heard something about an estetica and dueño, so that much is clear, it’s not a date.  She may be getting ready to open a branch.  Anyway, she leaves Vicky in charge.  Fortunately it’s not too busy.  She goes out to the reception area to get her bag with some new colors or something and Max sneaks up behind her and she nearly jumps out of her skin.  He wants to talk.  She covers by speaking very loudly, that, no, his wife has not been here.  He’s put out because she doesn’t answer his texts.  She’s been busy.  She has to repeat that his wife has not been here.  He wants to talk to her.  He won’t take up much time, but it’s important.  He leaves.  Now what was that all about.  Is he going to give in and give her her own salon or does he have something else up his sleeve to menace her back into this very sick physical relationship he had with her.

Shanghai, China Hotel
Claudio and Rodrigo are still hanging out in the lounge.  They’re looking at the pictures Melissa sent by phone.  Rod thinks the baby is beautiful.  Claudio thinks so, too, because he looks like his mother.  I believe there’s some male bonding going on here.

TL Mansion Dining Room
Well, by golly, Frigida was right, no Pato, Jana or Aldo.  It’s just Rosa and Max and the huge long table between them, clearly signifying the distance in their marriage as well.  Frigida puts her two centavos in about mealtimes and gets a “Max look.”  She retreats to the kitchen to get their dessert.  Aldo and Jana arrive breathless and excited but ready to eat.  Max reminds Aldo he’s supposed to bring Jana home for lunch, not dinner.  Jana says it’s her fault, she got out early and asked Aldo to take her to see her nephew.  Rose reminds Jana that the birth of her nephew is not an excuse to see Lorenzo.  And Pato, is he at the clinic, too?  Aldo answers in the affirmative.  He should be along shortly.  Rose is a little put out that Pato has become Luci’s guardian and everything else is of no importance (todo le importa un comino).  Jana pulls out her phone with the photos.  Max starts fiddling with his phone and at first we suspect he’s getting a text from Vicky, but then we see that Jana forwarded pictures of the baby.  Max is pleased, he’s grinning from ear to ear.  Rose tries not to look.  Even Mati and Frigida want to see the pictures.  Jana decides to send the photo to Gala (way to stir the pot, little sister).  Rose says, don’t be insolent, por Dios, Jana.  For once I agree with her.  Rose is the only one who isn’t savoring this joyful occasion.

Gala’s Office – Working this Time
Gala is looking at the cover of herself, pregnant, and is waiting only for Rodrigo’s image to be photo-shopped in next to her, then the layout is done.  Phone alert.  Gala sees it’s Jana and then sees the picture.  She’s disgusted, doubly so when Juli thinks the baby is beautiful and triply so when Bela also remarks on how precious he is.  Juli, whom we should rename Sub-Zero Frigida says, easy there, if you don’t lighten up, your baby is going to be born with a bitter looking face (cara de amargura).  Gala yells at her to shut up and Juli promptly retorts, don’t dis me, even though we’re going to get rid of this baby, you can’t deny he’s good looking.  Gala, whom we should rename Chip off the Old Ice Block, says they’d better enjoy the pictures because that’s all they’ll have to console them.

Clinic
Lor brings Luci a suitcase with clothing.  Estelita is now the one keeping watch over Luci.  Luci’s asleep.  Lorenzo hears her phone sound.  He wakes her up because it’s a text from Rodrigo, “Thank you for giving me the greatest happiness in the world—my reason to live—you and our* son.”  Rodrigo.  Tears.

*The text reads nuestro (our) son; Luci reads it out loud but says mi (my) son (meaning Rod’s).

Vocabulario
Para vigilarla = to keep watch over her
El cunero = best guess-nursery; la cuna is cradle.  A cunera once was the woman appointed to rock royal children.
Dar de alta = discharged.  We hear this over and over, but I’ve often wondered why it means be discharged from a hospital.  Apparently it comes from the military meaning fit to return to service after an illness.  But it still doesn’t explain why the use of alta.
Cursi = common
Un estanque = pond, reservoir.  This is probably a take on our “Big frog in a little pond or a little frog in a big pond.”
Ama de llaves = head housekeeper.  Ama is mistress/llaves is keys
Todo le importa un comino = everything else is of no importance.  Comino is cumin or cumin seed.  It must refer to the seed being so small.
Cara de amargura = bitter looking face
La felicidad mas grande del mundo = greatest happiness in the world

Avances
Rose announces she’s going to visit Luci in the clinic and get to know her grandson.
Gala makes it inside the clinic and is seen with Baby Rodrigo in her arms.  It looks as though she’s going to walk out with him.  Oh, please, tell me this isn’t so.

Anita amiga, thanks so very much for this great recap. Ay yi yi the tension is still there. I am so happy Pato is standing guard over Luci and protecting her. I loved him holding the bebe and cooing so much over it. Loved the pics Hanna and Melissa took of the bebe too, and Hanna sending a pic to Gagme was priceless I have to say. Serves her right, the darn bruja. I can't beleive The Champagne Queen actually thought the bebe was cute too.

Ah, Rosa la loca, she thinks not looking at the bebe pic will make it seem as if the bebe doesn't exist. The triumverant of brujas don't have much of a plan do they. I wonder what the hey they will come up with.

Loved how Rod and Claudio are more family minded than Max. All of a sudden bidness is more important than family??? Especially a first born grandson??? Rosa la loca is rubbing off on Max. The least Max could do is send maybe Gabe and Marcos in their stead to finish the bidness.

Poor Paz and Magda they are so anxious to get there to the D.F. I wish they were there already too. They would sure keep everyone at bay, especially the three brujas.

I know alot of you don't like Don A but he is actually showing some character by being such a gentleman for a change and offering help to Paz, he is still ignoring Magda I see, as she is ignoring him, but going to the priest about saying a special petition for Luci was so unusual for him. Maybe he is on the road to redemption.

I want to know why someone from the barrio isn't watching the nursery. I think they think since the bebe is in the nursery it is perfectly safe, but I'm not liking the advances. I hope it isn't nail biting suspenseful again.

Oh, and Anita I forgot to mention I thought those were diapers too, Paz was putting in that suitcase. There sure were alot of them. I think there were some blankets in there too.

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Gala got her hands on Luciana's bebe!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Tonight's Episode 10/10/12 has me in angst just as Monday's Episode!!!!!!!!! 10/8/12

Fate is a heck of thing!!!
5 months since this TN has been on and Ihave never seen a drop of rain ~ And now MAL WEATHER, STORMS, DELAYED FLIGHTS!!!!!!
Arrghhh!
Everything that could possibly go wrong IS GOING WRONG Right now!!!!!
Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Tears rolled down my cheeks at the sight of Patricio holding baby Rodrigo. Oooohhh how sweet it was to witness him blessing the baby and putting the Virgin Charm around his neck!
AND HOW C-U-T-E is bebe Rodrigo????
Aaaaaawwwwwhhhhh!!!!!

Thank Anita ~ Great recap!

I couldn't help but notice how lovely Paz' Navy Shawl with floral embroidery n the front was!

This everlasting storm watch/warning really has me worried about Paz & Gangsta Girl Magda arriving.

Baby Rodrigo is C-L-E-A-R-L-Y in Danger!!!!!
Lord have Mercy!

They need to trade Estelita with Serena or Polo in changing shift for Luci watch duty~ because her thinking skills are questionable.
I trust she's just there to greet Luci y bebe & not on watch duty!!!!

I just love this litte guy Ariche!!!
How cute was it when Don Aquilles asked him a favor of sending wishes to Luciana and the baby and Ariche replies he doesn't know if he'll remember because he's "going to see Lucina and the baby" and that's his MAIN Concern & interest.
LOLOLOL!!!!

Payback for all those mean things he's said and all the name calling since Episode 1!

thanks Anita for the recap. Baby Rod is so cute. I choked when Pato held the baby. what a beautiful scene!!!But wait!!! the advances. Unspeakable horrors! Now I won't be able to sleep at all. As I said yesterday, where are the security guards.Where are the guardian angels. Is there a death penalty in Mexico? Please give these evil women the most inhumane punishment for the crime they are going to commit for they are not human at all.

Thanks Anita for your excellent recap.

I also hated the advances with Gala holding the baby like it was a log and looking at it like she wasn't quite sure what to do with it.

The problem of infant abduction in the US has caused most if not all hospitals to change security policies; babies stay with their mothers for the most part; and nurseries are locked down like Fort Knox; but not in TN land evidently.

Right, AMOR, why aren't they watching the baby instead of watching Lucy?

We'll just have to sit tight and watch. ITA with Vida2; no TN hell is too great for these women.

Val (Gala's friend) was privy to a lot of Gala's vitriol against the baby, even if she didn't actually hear the plotting, if the baby vanishes I think it would be time for her to break with Gala and tell all.

Wonderful recap Anita. I started tearing up all over again. Frankly, I was reduced to a veritable puddle last night during the Pato/baby scenes. And it also made me nervous that he may be right, he won't ever have more than what he had at that moment. What will he do for that little adorable package? Perish the thoughts...

I can't comment on all the Rosa, bruja confab mess. And Rosa using a crucifix as a gift for her ploy to see the baby....anvil, where's my anvil?

Tonight I will have to make sure anything breakable or throwable is out of my reach.

Excellent recap Anita amiga. I was right there with you crying with Pato and Luci during their scenes with the baby. Such a cute baby too. I had to laugh when even Julie said it. Ha!

Very realistc when Luic started crying as soon as she got on the phone with her mama. Oh why tn gods are you making things so hard for the poor girl? Darn you Sabina and your predictions!

Things are going to a dark place. Judy, will you be running a special session of our support group after the next espisode, which looks to be a nail biter?

Great work, Anita.

We knew this had to happen. Roselena would inevitably come up with a nasty plot to get rid of Luci's baby and/or Luci herself. How is it that the cross isn't burning into her flesh to expose what sort of blasphemer and/or demon she really is?

Someone should have thought to tell the hospital staff that she, Gala, and Julie aren't welcome to visit Luci. From the looks of things Gala will grab the baby while Roselena is in Luci's room, thereby removing her as a suspect until someone recognizes Gala.

All three of them deserve some seriously poetic justice for this. There is no death penalty in Mexico.

Thanks Anita for a really good recap. I can't tell you all how much I look forward the them every night.

I was looking back on Caray Caray at lists of typical novela devices and we're in the thick of it now with the protagonista almost dying in the hospital, lots of friends there but the real protectors all away, unexpected storm, rich mother hatches an evil plot, baby kidnapping. I especially like Luci and Claudio among the Novelaworld protagonists I've seen, so I don't know how I'll stand the pain that's coming. Support group, mantra and beanie, I suppose.

Anyway ... Pato ... so tender and so sad. He's stands up for the good and true and is our rolling superman, but in this scene the tragedy of his plight came through. He deserves to have everything he wants, as Luci said, but that won't include Luci and by the looks of his physical condition, they'd have to have a 10 or 20 year jump at the end to show him well, married, a father... his progress slow. But I heard a sad foreshadowing though I remain hopeful because I love Pato. I rarely cry in TNs but I did shed some tears along with him, I think because Pato is so good and so, imo, tragic.

@ DAISYNJAY I agree with you about Rosalena's Crucifix "GIFT" ~
I think to her; in her Evil & Twisted mind it Symbolizes the Iltimate sacrifice of Life that ( she believes) Luciana's baby must pay for her (Rosealena's) plan to keep her family together as she believes she is the only Saviour of her failing Family!!! Que Lastima!

NEWS FLASH!!!! didn't Rosalena get the Memo? BRIGIDA ISBTHE PILLAR OF THE HOUSEHOLD!!!
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

@ UA ~ YESSSS!!!!

Why haven't R, G & J put on the Hospital blacklist!
Not allowed to come within 200 feet of Luci or Bebe!
Wish such a thing existed in this TN!!!!

Add me to the list of those sobbing through the Pato Luci scene. So well done and so emblematic of the real relationships this novela has shown. Also picked up on suegro/son bonding in China. I'm giving Max a pass on sticking to business and not sending the B Team. Time is money and they are 20 hours away and there is also that losing face thing in the orient. In any event Max's true feeling showed when he was practically cooing over the baby pictures. Only the 3B's and Frigida where not in on the joy.

Inevitable this novela has now slid into clicheville with more to come so we're just going to have to ride it out. With just about 6 weeks to go there is an awful lot of story telling to go. Thinking back to the prior version at this point in the story there were 6 months to go so many of the crazy things that happened can't happen here. However that doesn't mean they won't try. SIGH

I noticed something in the credits last night. Looks to me as if there is going to be a new character named Don something that started with a C but it went by too fast for me to pick it up.

Rosa as always is so inappropriate, buying a big cross as a baby gift. For one minute I had a vision of her using it to stab the baby. As someone said it is a beautiful cross and I collect them so would like to have snagged it for my collection. I continue to be annoyed by the the out of wedlock references. The baby was conceived while Luci was married, it is certainly news to me that if a divorce occurs during the pregnancy ithe baby is referred to as out of wedlock. The only reason Gala is getting a pass is that her out of wedlock conceived baby is now going to be born while she is married (for how long no one knows). Loved the good padre reminding Rosa of her part in separating Luci from her baby's father.

Glad that for the most part the Barrio Gang is protecting Luci but those previews with Gagme and baby annoyed me. The baby is premature, it should be under close watch in the nursery and certainly no strange woman should just be given license to carry it around. I can only hope that one of the BG's will see her and raise holy hell hopefully getting her, her mother and Rosa banned.

Don A gets a pass from me both for going to the Het Het padre asking for special prayers for Luci and God only knows she is going to need them and for once treating Ariche decently. That was a definite first.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I couldn't believe this was going to be such an emotional episode to have to recap. It just can't do it justice without actually seeing Pato and the baby. This is certainly a case for a picture is worth a thousand words. I'm getting choked up just remembering the scene. My heart goes out to the guy.

I'm beginning to think that RE had less to do with bringing up her children and Mati more. Yes, she can be somewhat of a dimwit next to Frigida the schemer, but her sould is pure and she would have instilled good moral values. Maybe we should be glad Gagame is hiring a nanny--just hope it isn't Frigida!!

AMOR--calm down, amiga. We don't want you in the bed next to Luci getting treated for high blood pressure--on the other hand, that might be a good thing to have such a feisty protector next to her. Aren't you glad you have a forum to vent your feelings and we LOVE you for it.

Unfortunately, there's not much any of us can do to help Luci, except to keep watching.

@ Deice Girl ~ Yes you're right Don Chelo played by Salvadr Sanchez is coming up soon I saw that too.

I was just watching "hoy" this morning and on the advances It looks like Luciana's health s not yet out of the woods. Today's episode has her with her regular OB/GYN Bedside assisting her doctor there in the Clinica de Isabela.
And they both looked panicked ~ all the while Estelita on Lucy watch duty!!!
Ay yi yi!!!

@Carol--Pato, our Rolling Superman. It's perfect.

@AMOR--...the only Savior of her failing family. You are so right. But she's not saving them for them...she's saving them for HER.

Yes Sister Anita ~ I will try to maintain my composure.
I'm so invested in this TN. Which incidentally is my very first. Si! I am a virgin to this thing.
Now I am also watching Amor Bravio and the re-reun of SORTILEGIO which comes on in the mornings'

Pease bear with me as I slowly realize its Only a TN!

I think what will happen is we'll see Gala walking around with the baby and if she does make it out of the hospital with the baby, then I think her plan is to take the baby to the far corner of Mexico in BFE & well pay a couple to take care of him. Sounds like history repeating itself doesn't it??? But in this case, someone will eventually throw Gala & Rosa under the bus. Notice how the Champagne Cougar Queen is good at planning but not getting her hands dirty???

And if Baby Rodrigo is babynapped, heaven help Gala & Rosa. Even Max will be on Rod and Claudio's side on this one.

And was it me or could we have a little possible future something-something between Pato & Vio?? Hhhmmmm.....

AMOR--You've picked three good ones to watch. If you think you might like to try a costume drama, look for Alborada. They reran it recently, so you'll have to go to Youtube. It's almost imperative that you watch the whole thing and not try the DVD first. They all get chopped up, but if you already know the story, it's a great keepsake. Every character is exceptionally well drawn and acted, down to the little boy.

A very clear and enjoyable recap, Anita. Thank you!

I missed the birth of our first kid, so I'm deeply sympathetic with Rodrigo on this account, anyway.

We're at the point, well, past the point, really, of getting a huge itch to see what karma has in store for some of these critters. The Three Killer Bees (that's great!) being the first order of business. Padre Honesto was above and beyond the call of duty to bless Roselena.

A while bak i also thought the vi Pato match would be a good one. She is a tough cookie but she is loving and loyal a lot of those characterists match Pato and both of them love Luci. I also think they look good together. As much as many of us hate it he is simply not destined for Luci and Vi deserves some happiness. Also just think of how Rosa would react especailly because she thinks Vi is Max's piece on the side.

Amor be careful of what could be considered a spoiler. I actually accidentally saw something back a couple of months and know what is going to happen to the baby. I walk a tight rope trying not to even hint what I know. I also saw a prior viersion of this story and while much of it is the same, a lot is different so I have to be careful there too . I also think Luci's heath is a concern, she seemed a little out of it at times in last night episode.

Mike--So sad for you on missing your first, but now you have your lovely granddaughter and we get to see her in your arms. Say hello to Emilia for us.
Anita

AS usual, I am late with my comments. You guys on the east coast have a three hour advantage over us on the west coast.

I was very busy yesterday and missed the recap but made up for it today.

Judy B---Thanks for the medical explanation of Luciana's condition. It was very helpful.
Some of your adorable lines---1 Send Roselena straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200. 2 Gala is an equal opportunity bitch. 3 Your heading "Trantrum of Evil Begins." 4 It's hard to believe that God created Roselena, Gala and Julie. Loved them.

Anita---Great recap, thank you. I am not a writer and so I am always in awe of you guys talent.

Carol---Pato, our rolling superman--great

Amor---Your first telenovela? I will never forget my first, now I'm hooked. I am sure that in no time, you will be too. For your first, you picked a good one. Un Refugio will go down as one of my favorites.

I too am worried for baby Rodrigo but remember, he now has the Virgin de Guadalupe to protect him. Gala has crossed the line. I think she is on her way to jail or soon will be. Her hate has consumed her, she's going to loose all---YEAH!

Has anyone noticed that Lorenzo and Fabian sell a lot of tacos but there in never any money exchanged. I guess that we are just supposed to imagine that there is. Another thing that I caught much earlier on. When Gala sent Luciana the magazine, she placed the magazine in the envelope from the top but when the envelope was opened and the magazine removed, the flap was on the side of the envelope. No big thing but I did notice that.

Anita...on Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm on "West Coast time" like Gringo. At least I can't get to my computer 'till quite late in the day!

Bless you for giving a little extra focus to the Pato Luciana Bebe scene. It was soooo moving. My word, those tears looked real and they just rolled down his cheeks in a messy way like real crying, not those gel tears they dab on that glisten and hold on one dewy cheek. Just made you weep for the longing and yearning and sweetness in that scene. And you did it justice, amiga.

Trying to keep my mind off the evil Gala/Roselena plans. Let's talk about the possibility of Violeta and Pato. Absolutely. I sense some kind of vibe. What man in his right mind wouldn't feel some chemistry around that bodacious woman. And she sure looks fertile as the Nile.

Enjoyed your use of Rosemary Primera's Killer Bees. Along with Daisynjay's Champagne Queen, we're all writing these recaps together. Which is as it should be.

Decie Girl, you're positively kind to don A. today. It was cute how he instructed Ariche to take care of the womenfolk. Of course Magda yelled at him for that too. But I'm cutting her some more slack. Always.

I see that Max did make an attempt to rein Roselena's evil in. But of course she ignores anyone who's not in her agenda, even Padre Honesto.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETING Tonight! My house. But if you can't make it, we'll "talk" on the CarayCaray Hotline.

Thanks Anita. Smooth. Well-written. And touching.

When my brother and his wife had their kid, he said the nurses Lo-Jacked her almost immediatly. (His word; I assume it wasn't a real Lo-Jack). Mexico needs to look into this.

Love the Killer B's. I kept thinking of them as a coven but that seemed like such an insult to real wican witches who would probably NOT hurt a baby.

It seemed like Gala and Rosa have conflicting plans. Or Gala is panicking. Either way, I almost yelled at the tv when I saw Estelita there "guarding" Luci. Get Ariche down here STAT. He'd be a better guard.

Kelly

Yep, Ariche would park himself outside the nursery and gaze at all the little angelitos and he can probably scream pretty loud.

Between Paz, Magda and Ariche, that place would be locked down like Fort Knox.

I know I am commenting way late--I have just caught up on DVR. I love this TN--and I cried like crazy when Pato was holding little Rod. I am already worrying over what I will watch when this finishes--

But I swear, I'm not sure I'll be able to watch if that baby and Luci get separated. I just don't know if I can take it. And I can't believe how invested I am in this....Mama mia.

Thanks so much for the excellent recap, Anita. :-)

Thanks Gringo ~ I look forward to it!

That's true all the tacos they're selling seem to be free!
Some things I guess we have to use our imagination. LOL!!!

Thanks Anita ~ I will look for it!
