Amor Bravío #134 (Uni 129) Tue 2/26/13 Beware the Anvil, and its name is VIRUS!!

Aggie hands over the charred remains of Dionicio’s fake passport to Ozzie.  She asks that he come to her first with the results of his investigation.  Ozzie is astounded with what she’s brought him, it’s a treasure trove of info.  He knows this must have been difficult for her to do this.  She admits it was difficult but finding that passport really affected her.  She just couldn’t continue with this uncertainty.  Ozzie understands her doubt, now she doesn’t even know who she’s married to!  Aggie begins to whimper and Ozzie encourages her to let it all out.  She doesn’t have to pretend or be strong in front of him.  What happens at Ozzie’s, stays at Ozzie’s.  Poor Aggies cries her lavender tears.  She just couldn’t bear having made a mistake yet again,  “For me, Dionicio is everything.  If I find that he deceived me, I’ll be devastated (hundir)!”  Ozzie preaches that God doesn’t give us more than we can handle.  He encourages her not to underestimate (subestimar) herself, “You’re a strong woman.  You’ll be able to confront what’s still to come.”  Aggie can only hope there’s a logical explanation for that charred passport and that Dionicio isn’t the man Ozzie and Amanda claim him to be.

Hospital
Refugio, Mariano, and Ana are gathered around Rocio’s bedside when the doctor arrives and tells them she’ll be going home tomorrow.  Rocio’s on the mind and doing well.  Mariano and Refugio inform her she’ll be going to Pablo and Luzma’s home.  Refugio assures her that Luzma said she would be very welcome in their home.  Rocio tells them she’ll have to ask the “muchachita” for forgiveness.  Mariano can’t belive it.  Refugio tells him Rocio’s a changed woman and this is how she’ll be from this day forward, right Rocio?   Rocio agrees.  Mariano assures her they will always be by her side.

The killing fields – do we toast to the now dead bulls?  What the heck, SALUD!

Camila stands at the edge of the field with Eleuterio, Vivi, Pablo and Rodolfo*sigh*.  She feels this is more like a cemetery than a corral.  Pablo informs her these bulls were slated for a bullfight for the day after tomorrow (where they would’ve died anyway, but……).  If there are other more tainted toros, they may not be able to come through for that contract and possibly others.  Camila can’t believe her bulls are dead.  She’s certain it’s a very potent virus because it’s not easy to fall a bull.  Rodolfo has already sent for Valentin so they can start taking blood samples. She sends Rodolfo running to the cabaña for all they’ll need to get started asap.  Pablo will go see what he can do to avoid lawsuits from the bullfight impresarios.  Cam will stay here to start working on getting the samples.

Hospital
Mariano can’t believe the change in his mother.  Refugio tells him she’s the same woman she’s always been.  The difference now is that she has realized the error of her ways.  Mariano is happy and feels this attitude adjustment will aid in her recovery.

Daniel/Miriam Home
Daniel and Dante are huddled over a laptop.  Daniel explains he’s checking Alonso’s e-mail account for a recording that Alonso sent from his cellphone to his e-mail.  That recording can be the proof that it was Hissadora behind Camila’s kidnapping, not Alonso.  Dante doesn’t feel that working on this will help Daniel forget about Cam.  If anything she’ll constantly be on his mind. Daniel is determined that everything will be cleared up before he leaves and all of Camila’s enemies will be in prison.  Dante wonders if he needs Internet access to look into Alonso’s e-mail account.  Duh, yeah – Daniel feels so dumb!  Dante understands he’s had a lot on his mind.  Daniel decides to go buy an Internet modem and Dante agrees to accompany him.  The fair Maid Miriam walks in with Agatha (how cute is she in that pink headband?) and decides to join them.  She leaves to get the stroller but before she can come back, Daniel gets a call from Rodolfo telling him about the carnage at LMQ.  He quickly hands the baby to Dante with instructions to take Miriam and the baby for an outing and to buy the modem while they’re out.  He’s gotta run to LMQ!  Miriam is understandably upset at yet another example of how Daniel is tied to LMQ.  Miriam tugs on the (cushioned) anvil as she says,  “I feel this Daniel is no longer my Daniel.”

Lovenest
Natalia and Yago tour their new home.  Natalia is super excited with stars in her eyes and all Yago can think of is that their wedding will be the social event of the year.  Didn’t her daddy say he’d throw everything out the window?  Why, this is just the beginning.  Between her daddy and his, they can have their very own ranch and they have their won ganaderia!  He’ll be the most respected ganadero in the area.  For her part, Natie is just happy they’re getting married.  It’s more than she ever expected.  That’s her problem, says Yago.  She’s too much of a conformist.  Not he, nosirree.  This is just the beginning.  The idea is to keep growing and reach for the top! She remembers to tell him Padro Anselmo wants to see him, probably about the pre-marriage counseling.  He’s not too thrilled and wonders if he really has to go.  She tells him he most certainly does.  Yago gets a call from his future Suegro.  He wants to make sure his daughter is happy and will continue to be so.  That’s why he wants Yago to continue with this love act.  To that end, he wants Yago to speak with his family about formally asking for Natalia’s hand.  Yago’s not too happy about it but Dionicio insists.  He wants his daughter to have the wedding of her dreams and that includes asking for her hand and the ring.  The catch is that he wants them to come to La Malquerida and ask him, not Amanda.  Yago doesn’t let on it was Dionicio on the line.

Honeymooners
EEEEEEEWWWWW!  They’re lounging in bed.  At least Cayetano had the decency to spare Viewerville and isn’t bare-chested.  He gets up to shower and Hissadora quickly goes to work, adding more drops to his champagne, saying that little “taste” of love was enough for now.  She strokes the necklace and is happy that at least he’s generous.  She calls Dionicio to tell him she is now la Señora de Albarran!  Dionicio congratulates her and wonders how her “miracle” drops are working.   She really hasn’t used them much, it’s their first day as a married couple.  But after tonight, she plans to have Cayetano drugged and asleep on a continual basis.  She asks about OperatIon:  Kill Bull.  He tells her the virus was set up last night and this morning there were a few dead bulls.  Hissadora wants to make sure Cayetano finds out so he’ll insist they return to Mexico.  He supposes not all is lovey dovey on the honeymoon.  Hissadora adamantly agrees and feels it’s a real sacrifice having to deal with (lidiar) with this decrepit old man.  Oh well, that’s the price she has to pay to become the Dueña de Buenaventura. Dionicio tells her not to worry.  He’ll do his part to put Buenaventura into a panic so she and her husband can return to Mexico, asap.   Bwa-ha-ha!

Aculco
Dante, Miriam, and Agatha are strolling about and the baby is a little fussy.  Miriams’s worried she may have a fever and Dante agrees.   They run off to a taxi stand to head over to the hospital.  She doesn’t want to waste time looking for Daniel, they need to go now.

La Malquerida
Once again, the Lone Charro comes to the rescue in his trusty white horse, er truck.  Daniel took the time to change into his Charro suit before rushing to LMQ.  Rodolfo*sigh* greets him with the news of the virus.  They’re taking samples  now from the dead bulls.  A total of 20 bulls have died so far.  It’s bad.

Out in the pasture, Vivi is helping Camila with the vials when Eleuterio runs up to tell them another 2 bulls have been found dead.  Camila gives instructions about getting other vaqueros to help with gathering the blood samples.  Vivi volunteers to take the vials to the labs.  Once they can identify the virus, they’ll know how which antivirus to use.  Daniel walks up and explains Rodolfo called.  When she scolds Rodolfo, Daniel tells her that although the plane is to leave the ranch to her, he cares about what happens.  He won’t let her deal with this alone.  Camila reminds him this isn’t the first time the bulls have been ill.  He counters that this is the first time bulls have died.  They begin to shout over each other and he strongly suggests she push their personal differences aside   and let him help her.  Vivi counsels her that she needs everyone by her side right now.  Camila gulps down her pride and explains what they’re doing.  She gives everyone their orders.

At the house,  Pablo is on the phone explaining presumably to the bullfight organizers what’s going on and asking for more time.  He gets off the phone and tells Luzma and Mayalen the organizers don’t really care which ranch the bulls come from so long as they have them tomorrow or they will take legal action.   Luzma suggests going to Mariano.  Pablo agrees this is a good plan for today but what about the next day? Mayalen points out there are 30 bulls promised but Pablo explains they can’t send them when they’re ill.  If Camila doesn’t find the cure soon, the bullsh*t is gonna hit the fan! (sorry, couldn’t help it).  If worse comes to worse, there will be serious economic repercussions to deal with.  And it’s not just because of the bulls that will be lost due to the epidemic.  It’s also the lost contracts and the possible legal actions brought against them.  This is serious.

Amanda’s Hostal
Ozzie rushes in and tells Amanda that Aggie came through.  Teresa thinks this will be enough to charge Dionicio with presenting a false identity.  Ozzie thinks this brings them ever closer to trapping Dionicio.  First they must match the fingerprints.  Dionicio can always claim identify theft, that they stole his passport.  Amanda and Ozzie are both happy that Aggie finally saw the light.  Ozzie will speak to Comandante Juarez.  At the very least he’ll be able to see the crime committed against Amanda.

La Maquerida
Piedad prays to La Virgencita to save the bulls.  Agustina overhears her prayers and can’t believe so many bulls have died.  Eleuterio runs in just then to fetch Hipolito, explaining that Camila has asked them to search the stables for more dead bulls.  Aggie can’t believe it.

Out in the Pasture, the two-legged bulls lock horns.
Daniel and Camila are hard at work.  Daniel thinks they have enough samples.  They share a tender moment and he hugs her.  Vivi comes up, saying she’ll take the samples now to the lab.

Dionicio walks up and starts right in on Daniel as soon as he sees him, “I thought you’d left and no longer live at LMQ!”  Daniel:  “It’s one thing that I no longer live on the ranch.  It’s quite a different matter for me not to care LMQ.  I’m sure if you remember but this ranch, and these bulls, are also mine.”  Dionicio:  “Camila, Pablo has informed me of the gravity of the situation. I’m here at your disposal.”  Camila coolly tells him there’s nothing for him to do here.  Daniel thanks him but says they’ve done everything that needs to be done here.  Dionicio won’t give up that easily.  He offers to buy medications or run the tests to the lab.  Vivi advises him she’s already got that job.  Cam explains everything’s done and besides Dionicio doesn’t know anything about livestock.  Now it becomes a schoolyard push and shove.  Dionicio: “And Daniel does(know about livestock)?”  Dan:  “More than you.” Dioncio: “Except that you decided to leave whereas I live here.”  Dan (shouting):  “If I left, it wasn’t because I wanted to, it was because I had to.”  Dion:  “it doesn’t matter, you left.”  Dan taunts him:  “look at me, I left, yet here I am.”  Camila finally shouts them both down and tells Dionciio, again, that their work is done.  They have nothing to ask of him, and she appreciates his offer.  Dion (huffing and puffing):  “Fine.  But if there’s anything you need, you can count on me.”  He walks away and now Daniel huffs, and puffs, “I can’t stand him.”  Camila says she can’t either but asks him to please stop fighting because it’s the last thing she needs right now.  Daniel stands down but tells her to chill.

Medical Center
Miriam answers doc’s questions about Agatha’s symptoms.  She turns to Dante and urges him to try Daniel again, complaining that he doesn’t answer his phone.  The doctor had assumed Dante was her husband (this had to be mentioned for a reason).  Doc goes to examine Agatha as Dante tries Daniel again but we see that the cell phone has been left in Daniel’s truck.

Amanda’s Hostal
Nati comes running in to tell Amanda the news that Yago wants to formally ask for her hand.  Nati is sooo happy, poor little dear.  She’s not sure when Cayetano will be returning but she’s ecstatic because this means that Yago’s giving her her proper place with his family.  As for Padre Anselmo’s doubt as to why Yago marrying her just as an obligation?  Well, that’s just not the case.  Amanda doesn’t think this is necessarily so.  Nati asks her not to be that way.  She understands Yago isn’t Amanda’s choice for her but now he’s coming around.  She complains that instead of seeing it that way, Amanda only sees moros con tranchetes (moors with knives *tranchete=curved knife).  Amanda says she’s trying to be objective.  Nati points out that no one is perfect but it’s now clear to her that Yago lurves her for sure!  He wouldn’t be doing all this if he didn’t, right? Er, well Amanda doesn’t know how to answer that.  Nati begs her not to spoil this moment for her.  Right now she feels like the happiest woman on earth.  Yago is her principe azul (Prince Charming).  He’s the man of her dreams.

Speaking of “Prince Charming”—he’s hanging out on the streets and sees a comely young cha-cha and immediately pounces.  His line – “I don’t know where you’re going but if you’d like, I’ll take you.  A woman as linda as you shouldn’t be alone on the street. Someone might rob you.” (his term of “robar”could also be meant as someone might “steal you away”)  He asks where he can take her and she tells him she doesn’t live close by.  He thinks that’s not such a bad thing and maybe they can make a stop along the way for a drink, to move things along.  She agrees and we see her climbing into his truck.

Back at the Clinic
Doc determines there’s nothing to worry about.  Agatha most likely has a slight stomach infection that could have been the change in the water.  It’s common in babies when there’s a change in their diet.  She’ll be fine.  Doc prescribes some drops to bring down the fever.  She notes Miriam is obviously a new mother and it’s natural for her to worry about her baby.  If she remains calm, Agatha will be calm and everything will be hunky-dory.  Aside from the drops, she asks that they keep Agatha hydrated and keep her away from contaminants and keep her away from anyone who may be ill, or any virus that she might be able to contract.  (Virus?  Ruh-roh!  Daniel is in the thick of it out at LMQ!!!)  Doc leaves to fill out the prescription.  Dante tells her he hasn’t been able to contact Daniel and has left him a few voicemails.  He’s sure Daniel won’t take long to answer.  Miriam never thought she’d feel so alone while alongside Daniel.  Dante assures her she’s not alone, he’s with her.  Miriam reminds him he’s not her husband and this episode with Agatha could have been an emergency.  She’s lucky Dante was with her because it’s been impossible to locate Daniel.  He doesn’t know how Daniel’s absence pains her.  Dante is sure that if Daniel doesn’t answer his phone, it’s not because he doesn’t want to.  It’s because he can’t.  Miriam gets angry and asks him not to justify Daniel’s actions.  It’s very clear to her that anything having to do with LMQ makes everything else disappear for Daniel.

Amanda’s Hostal
Teresa finds Amanda alone and asks what’s wrong.  Amanda explains she tried to take Aaron’s advice to change her attitude and strategy, but she just couldn’t.  Teresa suggests she not give up and try again.  She’s sure that Amanda will succeed if she sets her mind on it.  She assumes Amanda is attempting to avoid arguing with Natalia about the wedding in order to stay close to her.  Teresa encourages her to continue to try.  Amanda thanks her for her support and advice.

La Malquerida
Mariano has come to the rescue!  He tells Pablo he’ll fill the order for the bullfight.  He’ll ask Yago to select bulls with the same characteristics as those previously chosen from LMQ.  Luzma is happy that will take care of this corrida.  Pablo thanks him and then tells him Camila is out at the corrals taking blood samples from the bulls.  Mariano will tell  her that he plans to fill the order for the upcoming bullfights.  Pablo is very grateful.  Mariano asks him to speak with the foreman at Buenaventura to be watchful for their bulls as they may also be in danger.

Dionicio and Agustina are once again dining alone.  Dion’s fine with that.  He doesn’t plan to ever share the table again with that imbécil Daniel!  Aggie feels sorry for her daughter.  No sooner is she done with one problem when she has to confront yet another.  Dion is furious that Camila won’t let him help her.  She’s so soberbia (proud) and terca (stubborn).  No matter how much he tries help her, she continues to reject him!  Ooopsie, Aggie thinks Camila has a point, he doesn’t know anything about bulls.  Dion:  “Neither does that infeliz, Daniel! But nooooo, she still has him by her side!  She even allowed him onto LMQ!  I don’t get it!  How can Camila want him nearby?”  Aggie says no matter what, Daniel is still responsible for the animals.  Dion: “If that man had any dignity, if he were a good man, he would turn his portion of LMQ back to Camila and go back to Chile with his wife and his daughter!  He has nothing to do here!!”  Aggie, who doesn’t quite know what to make of this, “He love Camila.  Even though I don’t approve of him for her, I’m not blind.  Despite everything, they still love each other.”  This doesn’t make Dion happy, “He already chose his first wife!  His presence is only making Camila miserable and I just don’t think that’s right!”  Aggie holds her ground, “What we think doesn’t matter.  The one who needs to put a stop to this is Camila and if she doesn’t want to we can’t interfere!”  (I can’t believe she’s actually sharing her opinion on this!)  Dion: “Yes, we can!  Of course we can!  I don’t know what’s going on with you  that you’re contradicting me!”  Aggie denies it having to with contradicting him and he responds by pounding his fists on the table.  Dion:  “I see that you are!  Basta!  If you’re not going to support me in this,  then don’t say anything!”  He stands from the table as if to leave but turns back to her, “If you really want this ranch to continue functioning it would behoove you to talk to your daughter and tell her that the only man, the only one, that she can lean on and confide in is me!   She must stop rejecting me!  Be clear on that!”  Now he stomps off.  Aggie just stares, surely not knowing QTH that was all about.

Daniel and Camila just stare out at the corral of dead bulls.  Mariano walks up and she tells him there are now 23 dead bulls.  This is an epidemic but she doesn’t know what else to do now.  Vivi has taken the samples to the lab and until she gets the results, she won’t know how to attack this virus.  Based on the symptoms it could be Carbrex??(googled it – didn’t find anything) but that has been eradicated in Mexico.  She doesn’t know of any other virus that can kill from one day to the next.  Mariano concurs with her opinion.  Although it has been a few years since its eradication, the symptoms are very similar.  Camila says it would be terrible if this is the case and explains to Daniel that carbrex is a virus that can finish off the entre livestock in less than one week.  That means La Malquerida would cease to exist.

Pablo is on the phone trying to explain how grave this is and how it has impacted him to see all those dead bulls.  It’s not like seeing one or two dead from an illness.  This is very different.   Scene switches to a bedroom scene and we find out who Pablo is talking to – Yago who’s in bed with the cha-cha post horizontal mambo.  Yago says he doesn’t wish ill on LMQ but their bulls and those from BV are the best in the region.  If the LMQ bulls should “poof!” cease to exist, then the BV bulls will have no competition and their prices will go sky high.  Pablo can’t believe what he’s just heard, “How can you say that.  First of all, Camila is my cuz.  Even if she weren’t, no breeder should delight in LMQ’s misfortune.”  Yago denies he’s happy about what’s occurred --  he’s sees things as they are.  He’s clear and objective and he’s not blinded by sentimentality.  Pablo wonders if Yago’s practicality has taken into consideration that this could also impact the BV bulls.  It’s a possibility.  He’s sent the men out to check the livestock and everything is ok.  Now he needs Yago to fill out the request for a corrido today.   Yago tells him he’s very busy at the moment.  Pablo won’t take no for an answer.  This is very serious.  He needs 8 bulls to ship out tomorrow and he needs the characteristics of each one.  He’ll pass that on to the promoter in order to avoid legal action against Camila.  He and Mariano will not allow that to happen.  He tells Yago to get on it now and hangs up.

Back at the corral, Daniel, Camila, and Mariano continue the discussion about the virus.  She finds this outbreak very strange and not only because it has been eradicated.  LMQ has very strict sanitation standards.  The livestock is well fed, vaccinated, parasite prevention, they have everything!  Mariano suggests they take some measures now before they get the lab results – changing the water (did anyone test the water?) and the feed.  Maybe it’s not a virus but some form of contamination.  Daniel also suggests they isolate the healthy bulls from the dead ones so the contamination doesn’t continue.  Cam agrees with all these suggestions and tells them Vivi advised the lab this was of an urgent nature.  She only hopes she can save her bulls.

Dionicio looks on from afar, “Neither Daniel nor Mariano will help you against that virus.  No one will be able to save your animals.  You will ruined very soon and will have no choice but to sell out to me.  I will be your only savior, the only one!”  He laughs his evil laugh – BWA-HA-HA!!!

Aculco
Osvaldo meets with the comandante to hand over the evidence Agustina provided along with Amanda and Dionicio’s wedding certificate.  Comandante thinks the original of the document Aggie provided would have been better.  Ozzie explains they had no choice.  Aggie provided this at great risk.  She can’t risk Dionicio’s mistrust.  He shows him the burned out passport and refuses to reveal his source.  Comandante agrees to have the evidence analyzed.  Only then can they charge Dionicio with falsifying his identification but it’s gonna be difficult working with a photocopy.  Ozzie wonders what’s going on with Hissadora and the comandante reveals he hasn’t been able to locate her.  She’s still on her trip with Sr. Albarran.  He only hopes it’s a trip and that she hasn’t fled.  If it turns out she’s fled, he’ll need to get help from the neighboring countries.  He’s going to give her a couple of weeks and then he’ll proceed.  Ozzie is frustrated.

Miriam’s and Daniel’s home
Miriam, Dante, and baby get home and find that Daniel hasn’t checked in.  Dante praises her for how she handled Agatha’s mini-crisis.  She’s still miffed at Daniel.  Dante is sure something must have happened for him not to have answered his cell.  He’s going to go look for him.  Miriam is very grateful to him for helping out and hopes someday to be able to repay him for everything he’s done for her and her daughter.  He smiles fondly.

Laboratorio
Vivi calls Cami and tells her the lab promised the results by 7:00.  They had originally told her tomorrow but she convinced them to have them tonight and also convinced them to send the results to Cam’s e-mail to save time.

Cam relays the info to Daniel.  He promises they’ll get through this alright.  She tells him that if it were up to her she would move heaven and earth to resolve this.  She won’t give up.  Rodolfo*sigh* tells her they’ve isolated the area where the dead bulls were found and Eleuterio tells him they’ve removed the pasto (grass) and changed out the feed.  Mariano tells her that’s all they can do for now.  Camila is desperate and Mariano comforts her.  Daniel looks on, hurt and troubled.

A time-laps look at clouds and the moon now pops up.

Dante arrives at LMQ in the evening and tells Daniel about what happened with Agatha and that she’s ok now.  He admonishes Daniel for his behavior.  His family needed him and he wasn’t there for them.  This isn’t fair to them.  Daniel tries to explain he just found out he didn’t have his cell phone with him.  Dante understands that everything is secondary when it comes to Camila.  He reminds him that he made a choice with regards to Miriam and Camila and he’s not living up to it.  He needs to make Miriam feel that he really cares for her; that he’s got to be with her not only in the home but in his heart.  He has no idea how Miriam needed him at the hospital and how disappointed she was when he didn’t respond to any of the messages they sent him.  Daniel doesn’t know what to say, only that there was a true emergency here (at LMQ) and they really needed him.  Dante doesn’t doubt that but his first responsibility is to his family.  He’s no longer alone and he can’t turn his back on Miriam and Agatha and act as though they don’t exist.  That’s humiliating to them.  Rodolfo comes up just then to tell him it’s 7:00 and the results should be here any minute.  Will he be joining them for the results?  Daniel hesitates for a split second then tells him his daughter was ill and he needs to go home.  He asks Rodolfo to keep him informed then he and Dante leave.

Inside, Camila waits anxiously for word from the lab.  Everyone has gathered around to wait for the results with her.  Rodolfo returns and tells Cam that Daniel had to leave because his daughter is ill.  Camila doesn’t react and understands.  The email comes through.   Her reaction says it all and Mariano announces that it is cabrex as they had feared.  Camila explains to all present this means they  can lose the livestock if they don’t do something immediately.  They need to find the vaccine but since that virus had already been eradicated in Mexico she’s not sure there is any to be found.  Mariano says they’ll have to find a way.  He just can’t understand how this outbreak happened.  Camila agrees and they need to find out if the outbreak was just at LMQ or throughout the region, or what?  There’s no time to waste. They must find that vaccine and give it to the livestock immediately.  Dion volunteers to go get it (nooooooooo!  Cami, nooooooooooo!)  She says they need to start contacting all the labs and veterinary pharmacies in the region.  Mariano thinks the late hour will make this difficult as they are most likely closed but they can start first thing tomorrow morning.  Pablo will do an internet search.  Camila also cautions them that this virus has been known to infect humans.  Aggie starts to freak out but Cam explains the infection can only be spread by direct contact with the animal, so Aggie has nothing to fear.  She instructs Rodolfo that everyone must take extreme care.  If they aren’t able to get the vaccine tomorrow then they’ll have to ask for help from the authorities.  Mariano says this means her livestock would be quarantined for a minimum of 40  days.  She’s aware but if that’s what needs to be done, so be it.  She may also go into debt to pay off the lawsuits that are sure to come.  What can she do?  She must save La Malquerida, right?

Late night at work. I didn't have time to do my regular re-checking so please forgive any typos.

I hope I got all the names right!

Great work Paquita. Not many typos at all. I loved your imagery, like Gussy's lavender tears and Miriam's cushioned anvil.

In addition to now suspecting that everyone was right about Dio's fake identities, Gussy should also now start suspecting his feelings for Cam after that weird outburst at the dining table.

Carlos- Remember when you pointed out that one of the ladies in the love triangle is "inconvenient" and I said maybe Dan is the inconvenient one? Well, the previews show Miriam telling him she doesn't want him if he's only going to halfass be with her, her and Cam telling him she doesn't want him around, and Dan getting cut by one of those dangerous infected bull blood vials. I'd say Dan is looking awfully inconvenient right now...

Timeframe alert-- Miriam told the doctor the baby is three months old.

Thank you Paquita! Great recap!

This seems to be the season of deception and unhappy relationships.

Aggie/Dio--- Hector G. Conman
Nat/Yago--- Dirty dog who might give mob princess an STD
Mir/Dan --- Had another wife, still in love w/ wife 2
Isa/Cayo--- Married a snake woman who may kill him for his $$
Vivi/Rafa--- V kept Roman a secret, seems ok w/ not having Rafa around

Dan/Cam are unhappy, but at least there's no deception between them.

Mir is quite fiesty. This should be a sign that she can handle some truths. Sad situation, because as far as she knows, Dan was passionately in love with her and so excited about the her having a baby. Then she woke up the next day, with prized baby in hand, and suddenly her husband is in a different country and seems to be a different man. She must be in shock. They need to at least be leaking her the truth.

The Cam/Dan story intrigues me because I don't really like stories thst include marital affairs where those in the affair are the protagonists. In this case, Dan was married to both, at different times. It must be hard to keep a commitment to your past wife who thinks that she is your present wife, and then have to leave your present wife out in the cold and open to the affection of another man. Painful!

Quick note about clothing: yesPaquita, I too wondered about Daniel's quick/superman wardrobe change! Maybe they cut a scene. I like the reference to the white truck as riding in on his white horse. Now Isa ... I guess she had to wear those diamonds to bed to serve as her wedding night aphrodisiac and headache reliever.

I think you did, Paquita; good work.

I agree with Vivi; that outburst at the breakfast table should make Gussie suspicious about something. Any other woman would wonder why El Diablo is so obsessed about this.

Everyone else should be wondering how this virus made a comeback after it was previously eradicated.

Netgirl, that's a great one about Hissadora and the diamonds! She must be taking Marilyn Monroe's advice...

Your point about Miriam being feisty should also be a clue to somebody that she isn't as sick as Daniel's been told.

The wardrobe change is proof enough of where Daniel would rather be.

Thank you, Paquita. You captured an exciting episode so very well. I had to chuckle at quite a few of your descriptions, including Isadora and Cayetano on their honeymoon. Good God!

Daniel and the traje. Wow. He did look great in that blue number.

Yago is beyond redemption and may be living on borrowed time.

I expect that we will see some nice scenes between Luzma and Rocio coming up.

And, Dio just can't find a way to be the helper when there are so many people with purer hearts assisting Camila. I loved it when he volunteered to ride all over the place looking for the vaccine, only to have Pablo suggest that logging on is the key!

I don't think the issue is whether or not Mir can get fiesty. It's not her personality that's the marker of whether or not she can receive bad/shocking/upsetting news. The (supposed) aneurism is a silent killer, not something that would change her personality. I think we and Dan can expect her to get stronger and more like her old self the more time passes since she's been out of the coma and the stronger she gets physically. But the stronger she gets, the more assertive she gets about getting answers about why Dan and everyone are acting so strange.

Netgirl said: "Nat/Yago--- Dirty dog who might give mob princess an STD"

I say this is wishful thinking on your part (because you dislike this couple maybe)? If there is any indication that Yago has slept with anyone who has an STD I missed it.

Traveling lady: I sure hope you are right when you say “I expect that we will see some nice scenes between Luzma and Rocio coming up”. I was thinking that perhaps the writers have conjured up a situation to give us more of Rocio’s bad side. I think we have that picture and are ready to move on to a converted Rocio.

Vivi: this comment shows your lack of medical knowledge: “The (supposed) aneurism is a silent killer, not something that would change her personality”.
Anything that affects the brain (tumor, aneurism etc), will definitely affect behavior. In fact, a change in behavior is commonly the first sign that people get that something is wrong.

Dear Anon 8:36. I meant that Yago seems to be developong, or already had, a habit of sleeping around. Perhaps I'm shooting at him prematurely. I was surprised that he hooked up with a stranger(?) within minutes of meeting her on the street during the day. If this becomes a habit, it could lead to all kinds of unhealthy actions. Yago has a very idk attitude. Nat is pregnant now, indicating no protection. Protection with this one? Not likely. Others to come? Looks like danger ahead.

Thank you Paquita, excellent recap as usual; love this “Poor Aggies cries her lavender tears.” I don’t know why, but you had all cracked up with this one.

WOW, Anonymous, you sure are schooling everyone today!!!!

I prayed that Dio would have an aneurism bursting and just drop dead during his temper tantrum – this guy just rubs me the wrong way. Thank God, Gussie showed some spine there.

I know we all hate Yago, but one thing is for sure; he’s been consistent in his “douchebagery”; he never once said he was a prince charming on the contrary – it’s been Natonta who’s been hell bent on asserting that title on the miserable louse. I’m tired of her blind stupidity.

Myo-

Unfortunately, most aneurisms do not signal their presence before a catastrophic failure - stroke or cerebral hemorrage. It is indeed true that, if the swelling puts pressure on the "wrong" parts of the brain, personality changes or "minor" physical impairments can provide warnings that can trigger investigations that lead to diagnosis. Too often, however, the aneurism is asymptomatic. In those cases, unless a scan is ordered for some unrelated reason, the first symptom is likely to be the last.

Thank you Paquita. Great action! I loved the "lavender eyes"

And I see how Dion has reiterated the eternal theme: 'Dion (huffing and puffing):  “Fine.  But if there’s anything you need, you can Cuenta conmigo!” '

So maybe the padre's heavy-handed sermonizing wasn't out of line after all. Rocio's attitude adjustment is remarkable.

Not sure why Dan wasted precious minutes changing into his charro gear, but it sure made him look more manly than those schlumpy dorm clothes he's been sporting since his breakup with Cam. At least it made him stand up straight.

As for Yago and the STD; I thought it an entirely appropriate comment. He's a promiscuous creep and if he's not taking care about unwanted pregnancy, you can be sure he's careless about everything else. —Agnes

Thanks for the recap Paquita.

Dio's obsession will be the end of him. If the poor bulls do die and Cam sells to him, she won't be his unless he kidnaps her. I hope she doesn't get snatched again. I'm with those of you who just want the anvil to take him out NOW.

Myo - ITA about Natonta. I feel for Amanda having to smile as her completely deluded daughter talks well of two of the worst men on the show.

If Dio catches Iago playing around, Iago might be toast.

Totally appropriate, LXV.

If Iagho thinks he can get away with cheating on Nat, he's got another thing coming. If Hissadora can cut out Leoncerdo's tongue what's to prevent El Diablo from making sure that Iagho qualifies for the Gelding's Trot?

That might actually be amusing.
as to El Diablo's obsession with Camila, the only thing that would make her want him is a frontal lobotomy.

Re: aneurysm. It doesn't matter how an aneurysm affects the brain in real life. What matters here is that Miriam doesn't really have an aneurysm. The unscrupulous doctor fibbed about that and then went on to warn Dan that "any anxiety or bad news" could kill her.

Oopsie...didn't finish my comment. Miriam handled the whole Agatha episode without keeling over. We see in the avances that she goes off on Dan. Slowly, they're going to realize that feisty Miriam isn't kickin' the bucket whenever time she is upset.

Paquita,

"Poor Aggie cries her lavender tears."

Perfection.

Vivi,

Your take on aneurysms is spot on.

As for inconvenient:

"...keep Agatha hydrated and keep her away from contaminants and keep her away from anyone who may be ill, or any virus that she might be able to contract."

No need for bar graphs and hand puppets there.

Carlos

They wouldn't kill a baby, would they? I mean it would solve some problems with getting the right couples together, but she's a baby! Has that ever been done?

But it is nice to see Miriam get mad. She's not all pollyanna. Good.

Kelly

Kelly, I can't recall a single novela in which anyone murdered an infant.

An 8-year-old child was murdered in Abrazame Muy Fuerte (currently airing mornings on UniMas) but that is the only example I can think of where this intent was carried through. There have been numerous close calls in others.

Thanks Dr. Carlos and Anon 9:29. Anon 9:29 you explained it exactly as I understand it. Unless it grows and puts pressure on parts of the brain that cause personality changes, a person with an aneurism can be going along with their normal lives, being their normal selves, until, boom!, the thing bursts. The worst they might have before that happens are headaches and dizzy spells, but nothing major. So there is no reason for Miriam showing her normal feisty personality to be a hint to Dan that shocking news won't indeed cause her aneurism to burst. If might actually dissuade him from telling her hard truths if he thinks she's getting more temperamental and hot tempered—he’ll be trying even harder to keep her in the dark. Of course, it's the fact that he's hiding things from her that's causing her to be so darn irritated with him and short tempered. Vicious circle. We in the audience of course know that Miriam is fine and doesn't have a ticking time bomb in her head. But Dan and everyone else doesn't know that.

"We in the audience of course know that Miriam is fine and doesn't have a ticking time bomb in her head. But Dan and everyone else doesn't know that."

However, for Dan, believing that the aneurysm is real, the prudent course of action would to have her under medical supervision, at the very least to monitor her blood pressure and lipids. Just some simple precautions. And maybe schedule the odd brain scan here & there to observe changes, since he "knows" she's got a condition. But NO..let's not provoke her with the "truth". Yikes, if that isn't the underlying (pun intended) theme running throughout this story. —Agnes

Agnes- Yeah. I have no idea how Dan plans on keeping Miriam medicated and monitored if she doesn't know what she has. How is he even going to get her to a doctor for that 2nd opinion if she thinks this last complete check-up gave her a clean bill of health? Of course, it's only been a day or two since he got the (false) diagnosis, so he may not have had the chance to think through his crazy plan. Of all the things he's keeping from her, I think the worst is keeping her major health issue from her.

Desafortunadamente, I know something about aneurysms, because I've had a ruptured one. Serious changes can occur after the rupture. It produces a stroke, and many survivors end up like Rocio. Some people have personality changes; it depends on what part of the brain is affected. I know caregivers who tell me that now they are married to a different person. But I was very lucky. I had double-vision and a loss of balance, because the rupture was in the right superior cerebellar artery. I did a few sessions of therapy and don't have any "deficits" that are noticeable.

I think Miriam told the doctor that Agatha was three months old. Why oh, why, did Dan always throw a three month old up in the air? We realize that Agatha is petite and quite a bit older than three months old, and I guess he knew she loved being thrown up in the air and couldn't resist. But that's not playing the part. But I had a few scarey moments when he did.

Paq, just loved your recap. Got a laugh with Aggie's lavendar tears.☺

Ann-NYC

Aleta- Your story is particularly a scary one because before your aneurysm burst, you didn't have a lot of huge clues either. I'm glad you didn't have to deal with personality changes after it burst either.

that damn Rodolfo! why'd he had to tell that dan jerk about the crisis at the LMQ??? gosh! so unnecessary!!! just what we need! yes, it's me again, not-a-dan-fan.

sorry, i tried not ranting about dan again, but it's just so damn impossible! he just irritates me every time! he should be there with his wife! but noooo...as dio said, he has no dignity whatsoever. & cami doesn't need him. she's got ppl. it's not like she HAS to be saved by Superman or Prince Charming. "but he loves her!" - who cares???! it's over btw them! his 1st priority is to his wife & child now, but what a MARVELOUS job he's doing with that! i seriously just wish that cami would just move on with her life & that his wife dumps him & takes her child with her.

~ posted by not-a-dan-fan hours ago, but i got so distracted by the korean drama i'm watching (which, by the way, is a much better show than this typical spanish novela) that i forgot to push "publish your comment" :) oh, & i keep getting the characters wrong. gosh, isn't it clear enough that i'm not a robot? lol...

not-a-dan-fan-- Looks like you think Dan is the inconvenient one too. ;-)

Paquita: Thanks for your fun, snarky recap.

Frankly, I don’t understand how Dio got to the position he has. He loses his temper when things don’t go his way (can you say temper tantrum, little boy?!) and he’s not very good at reading people. Which is crucial for a con man. Though I enjoy seeing him get thwarted, I have to say it’s a bit of a beanie thing for me.

I wonder if Vivi’s called Rafa to let him know what’s going on?

I like that Dan didn’t go ballistic when Mariano was comforting Cam.

Like those black pjs of Caye’s. I’d like some like them.

Maybe the virus warning from the doctor, just means that Dan will have to stay away from the baby and Miriam.

Nanette

Nanette: "Maybe the virus warning from the doctor, just means that Dan will have to stay away from the baby and Miriam." Just what I was thinking and boy, it's not going to sit well with Miriam. She's already steamed that La MQ takes precedence over her little familia, but now this!! Smoke is gonna come out of her feisty little ears.

Or maybe, as the avances showed, Dan gets infected through that wound and ends up in the hospital (again?) at death's door. —Agnes

I'm glad to see others commenting on Daniel's changing into the charro suit. It was just so screamingly illogical. Gosh, there's an emergency on the ranch, with the bulls dropping like flies, and so of course you take the time to change into an elegant, silver-trimmed suit--in order to take blood samples from dead bulls out in a pasture!!!!

The novelty of this TN is how logically and rationally most of the characters act in spite of the extraordinary situations they find themselves in, and so this really stands out.

Still, it looks good. But shirtless would have been better.

Great recap!! I have to agree that I love the "lavendar tears".

As a farm girl, the killing of the bulls is nearly killing me. I have to think they are referring to Rinderpest virus, which was announced as officially eradicated worldwide in late summer of 2011. Although I believe there is roughly a week of symptoms before almost certain death.
If I remember correctly there had been some studies as to using it as a bio-weapon because of its high mortality rate. One would assume that if it is erradicated world wide, the search for anti-viral drugs would be nearly impossible.

BTW, given the fact that Dio is the King of Bull...I think this would be a fitting end to him.

UtahDesert- LOL! Maybe Dan changing into the awesome charro suit was like a woman wearing her most flattering dress and sexy heels when she knows she's about to see an ex? :)

Agnes: "Dan gets infected through that wound and ends up in the hospital (again?) at death's door."--thought the same thing. Why don't they all just move there?

Nanette, I think that the temper tantrums are not normal for El Diablo. They're happening because of his obsession with Camila. Were that not the case he wouldn't be losing it, especially in front of a woman he married in order to get into the ranch in the first place.

With regard to Miriam's aneurysm, we really don't know that the doctor was lying in the first place because we never heard him discuss the test results with a colleague or even read them in the first place. We also don't know how much he had to say to El Diablo in order to survive that meeting. For all we know he could be telling (the TN version of) the truth.

Vivi, I can agree with your statement about the charro suit. I thought of it as a statement that his heart is really there with Camila. It could also be a show of authority over a piece of property he's in a life-or-death battle over with El Diablo who -- unlike Hissadora -- never has worn any version of it in this story.

UA,

Now you've got me trying to picture Dionysio in a charro outfit. Sorry, I just can't do it with a straight face.

Carlos

I wish they'd take the epidemic side of this seriously. Mariano should not be going out into the Malquerida pastures where the dead bulls are--at least if he plans on going back to Buenaventura afterwards. (Even if we lately never see him doing anything in the corrals or the pastures, he walks around and into the ranch-house on the same surfaces as workers who do come into contact with the B bulls.)

I liked what Agustina had to say in her scene with Dionisio at the dinner table. Yes, she can be silly, but she's not cardboard, and she does see some things and she does try to be fair. I'm really hoping she survives to the end of the show.

Were those supposedly to be dead bulls that were happily switching their tails during the scene between Daniel, Camila, and Mariano?

Paquita - Thanks a bunch.

Netgirl - Yago getting STD from the one-night-stand crossed my mind too.

Love, love, love Dio being incensed that Dan was there, that Camila didn't take Dio's help, and that he was arrogant enough to let Gussie see he was hot and bothered at Camila.

Not impressed with Hissadora's villainhood in having sex with Cayetonto. I thought she'd be shrewd enough to avoid it, even once.

The villains are slipping. Yay!

UA: your remark about the purported aneurysm is exactly what I've wondered all along. It is certainly plausible given that the final reports weren't in yet when the Doc was persuaded to "lie". Maybe it wasn't a lie after all, but you'd think if she really "had a condition" (as my grandma used to say) that the suborned Dr. Quacko would have prescribed a course of follow-up.

I don't know what I'm going to do when this show comes to an end.

UtahDesert; thanks for your great observations. I saw those happily switching tales and burst out laughing. You are so right about spreading infection. That place should be on total lockdown quarantine. —Agnes

Vivi: Love your comment about Dan dressing to impress. At least Super-Dan didn't have to find a phone booth in order to change into his charro suit! I think the charro suits are ridiculous, except for rodeo or fiesta days, showing the bulls to buyers, or posing for a portrait. Next to Dan, Camila looks underdressed.

A couple of years ago, I toured a plantation in Colombia and the owner's son wore jeans, a sports shirt (with the name of the plantation printed on it, not too big), rubber boots, and a black and white woven hat. (He was tall, dark, and handsome and his name was Miguel Angel, an angel indeed.)

My friend Rena owns a cattle farm in Kentucky, and she also wears jeans, a sports shirt, and rubber boots when she's in the pasture or barn.

As far as the charro suits go, I put on my beanie along time ago.

Carlos, just tune in to Abrazame Muy Fuerte in the morning to see Cesar Evora in such clothes. Of course, that series was made in 1999 and he's not as heavy there. Not to mention that this wardrobe was appropriate to his character.

Thanks, Paquita, for a fabulous recap!

So much has already been said by all of you so well, but just want to add that I'm finally starting to like Agustina again. I like what she said to El Diablo at the table that no matter what's going on, Camila and Daniel love each other, and it's their decision to make, even though she's not fond of him (to say the least). Along with that, it was pretty gutsy of her to photocopy his ID while he was so close in proximity. I have a sick feeling that she's going to suffer as a result of all this, especially once she catches on (and I think she's close) to the fact that her dear husband is obsessed with her daughter.

Wow, some people here thrive on being right even going as far as doing research and having their “fans” submit research to prove how right they are. Lighten up folks, I thought that this was a safe place to express an opinion about the tn. Instead of respecting others opinion and submitting one of your own, leaving it to the rest of us as to who we believe, there’s always a couple of people who thrive on pointing out to others how wrong their opinion is.

Carlos are you a physician or a tn doc? Your answer surprised if you are a physician. I ask because there are a lot of people who call themselves doc sort of as a nickname

UA: Dio has lost his temper before. Has it always been in regards to Cam? If so, it's hard for me to buy that over the course of his career as a conman that she's the only one that has made him lose his temper. Perhaps, she's been the only one that makes him lose it to the point of being careless in what he says.

I'm glad the bulls were moving their tales. I'm a bull dammit not an actor!

Paquita, thank you for the great recap! There was a lot of fast talking and shouting this time and I couldn’t catch it all. I appreciate your transcriptions of the dialogs very much.

Of course Auggie has lavender tears! LOL!

“What the heck, SALUD!” Now, that’s the spirit! *clink*

“EEEEEEEWWWWW! They’re lounging in bed.” Ick. Ick. Ick. ‘Nuff said.

So Miriam, who has a paid baby nurse at her disposal 24-7, manufactured this whole sick baby drama just so she could whine that her husband isn’t there to hold her hand because the baby had a tummy ache. What kind of idiot flips out and rushes off to the hospital when she hasn’t even felt the baby’s forehead herself (eeew! might get baby cooties!), let alone take it’s temperature (don’t you understand? this is an emergency in my own mind! I don’t have time for facts!) and despite the full attention of BFF Dante and the paid nurse waiting at home, she feels soooooo alone (if life won't make me miserable, I’ll just have to do it myself!). Ye gads. She is so far beyond getting on my last nerve that she’s starting in on my vital organs.

I think Miriam’s personality would have a lot to do with how she reacts to bad news. One might think that stronger people are more likely to deal with bad news with less drama. However, we all saw last night how she is quite capable of spinning drama out of thin air. So if faced with something real, she may not do so well. But how on earth does Dan think that he is going to keep her from finding out about any of the events that happened to him in the last six months? Forever? That is insane.

Psychologically, it is much more stressful to know that something is amiss but not what is wrong, than to know the truth. Dan needs to get a second opinion on the aneurysm and to get Miriam to a psychologist to start to work on how he can stop trying to live this lie. He has not taken any steps to put an end to their farce of a marriage and to be with Camila other than to take MM to the local hospital for the first diagnosis. At this point, I think Dan is too much of a coward to want to tell Miriam the truth or he would have done a lot more towards that goal by now. Her health is providing him with convenient cover so he doesn’t have to do that. He caved with just that one diagnosis. He is choosing to hide and to lie and to give up Camila rather than face the music. As it turns out, I can’t help but say that neither he nor Camila had it in them to truly fight to be together.

netgirl: “Dan/Cam are unhappy, but at least there's no deception between them.” Remember how they met? She didn’t even know his real name for weeks. How many times did Dan lie to her, even when there was no need? They most certainly have had a lot of deception between them. And the sad thing is, I don’t see that Dan learned anything from that whole escapade. He is still a liar and still choosing to live a lie with Miriam than live in truth with Camila.

I think that Augustina’s attitude toward Dio has changed, now that she suspects him and turned on him. He is right that she did contradict him for the first or maybe one of the only times ever. I say good for her, but, of course, he didn’t take is so well. She may pick up on that aspect of the conversation more than that he has the hots for her daughter. It’s really all about control. He wants total control of Auggie, Camila, and the MalQ. He does not have a con man’s personality. He’s more of a mobster and controls through intimidation and threats. He uses his anger to intimidate.

ITA that the whole ranch and probably the whole county would be in quarantine by now if there really were that deadly of a virus that was thought to be eradicated on the premises. I can’t see how they’d be shipping out bulls from the MalQ or the BA and spreading the virus to other areas.

I think he's lost his temper at Alonso's stupidity or carelessness with regard to Camila, but I recall he was somewhat amused at hearing about Alonso's little problem.

His anger also appears to be escalating. This is not just because his obsession is getting worse; it's because he is seeing Augustina as more and more of an inconvenience.

I also don't doubt that if Daniel got infected last night he will be gloating a little too much.

Regarding Miriam's diagnosis from the dishonest doc, we heard Dio tell him, 'this is what I want you to say ...' but we didn't hear exactly what.

I think we are meant to believe the diagnosis is false and is what Dio instructed him to say.

Urban- I really hope for Miriam's sake that the doctor is indeed lying under pressure from Dio. I really want the writers to think outside of the box and not kill Miriam off in the end. That would be too easy. Plus, if she does die from an aneurysm, Camila and Dan would feel guilty forever after, even if it isn't their fault.

Anon 3:27- I assure you most of us here are keeping it light, even as we a seem to take these plot points WAY too seriously. Don't take our obsessive-ness and detailed oriented-ness to mean that we are not enjoying the show or each other's comments. We wouldn't be here otherwise.

Pam, I think you're right about the bio warfare aspect of this disease. Which would mean that the only place to get a vaccine would be from a highly restricted federal or military lab, where these things are kept in the vault. I don't think a quick internet search is going to yield the results they are looking for. Plus, if it means contacting the authorities about something so dangerous, they might be looking at an armed guard surrounding the ranch. But my beanie is already way too tight. Can anyone tell I'm avoiding a bunch of tedious work.
—Agnes

Were the bulls lying down waving their tails meant to be dead, or just sick? I thought I also saw a bunch that were stock still-- dead. I just assumed the ones lying down were just in an in-between stage-- sick but not dead yet. It did make me wonder, how do you get a bunch of bulls to all lie down at the same time? UtahDesert- Is this normal behavior and they just caught them during the "siesta" hour, or whenever bulls would all choose to lie down at the same time? I am completely ignorant of animal behavior. How would a trainer be able to get a bunch of bulls to do this at the same time if it's not normal behavior?

I'm glad someone else is annoyed with Miriam. She went from apparently no worries about her child--taking her out in a stroller for a walk--to freaking out because of someone else touching the child's forehead and saying she had a fever. And what's the specialized baby nurse for, if she doesn't know something about infant ailments? Why not call her for advice?

And I would have liked to see Dante obviously worried about Miriam's condition. He should have been asking her how she herself was feeling from the moment she was worried about Agata; he might have suggested that a doctor at the clinic check her out just in case.

Dionisio really wins the prize for the "most inept villain ever who is not obviously intended as comic relief." If he infected the bulls in order to get the Malquerida, fine, but to think that this will win him Camila? On what planet? Has he noticed the existence of a supportive and loving ranch staff? Viviana? Pablo? Mariano?

I was wondering about how they got the bulls to lie down as well. It's also kind of irritating me that they're only referring to "toros." They breed bulls, right? Presumably they've got cows there as well.

Vivi: Some people may not have much of a clue, but I had migraine headaches for more than a month beforehand. And I had a classic "sentinel headache" two weeks before. I had dry heaves and didn't get out of bed all weekend. I should have gone to the emergency room.

And then there was this other clue: A friend of mine, who is a medium in Cassadaga, said, "Do you get headaches a lot? You should get that checked."

Aleta- That reminds me that I really need to go to the doc for a check-up. It's been almost two years. Yikes!

I think they are phoney bulls, notice the scene wasn't that close. Could also be photo-shopped.

PdelB - Great recap and I always love your *sigh*. Makes me smile every time I see it.

Love the comments today.... I am a fan of finding the illogical in our TNs. Still love the stories, just also love the illogical stuff too.
LXV - you keep writing what I am thinking! How about scheduling a random brain scan for followup? Or how about a second opinion as Jardinera said?

Everyone who commented about Mariano walking around the epidemic-riddled ranch only to return home to La BV. I wondered about that too. And of course the popular theme about WTQ? re: the charro suit! I would think the lovely suit would be a greater hazard than a help - ties and little silver gadgets can pick up germs and are harder to clean than old clothes that can be disinfected. But as they say, and I finally understand (took me a year or so because it isn't in the instructions : ) ) It is time to put on our charro beanies.

RE: various characters, Utah Desert, I had a similar impression about Marian. I get what she is saying over all about the pattern of Dan's absentee sentiments towards her, but every time I see the little budgekin handed off to the nurse, I shake my head. That is why Miriam can be so nicely coiffed I think. I don't think I changed out of the same few pairs of jeans for the first year of my kids' infancy! Also, re: Agustina I think she is silly and when she is in the moment, I really do see her trying to say the right thing....However IMO, her fatal flaw is that she has sacrificed her daughters' well-being and safety, in essence, for her guy.

RE: New Girl, does anyone else notice that she has buggy eyes more times than not? She looks like she surprises easily.

Wow, Meena, I'm impressed you wore jeans when your babies were little. A lot of women never make it out of sweatpants. :)

LOL - And how about that makeup, plucked and shaped eyebrows and up-to-the-second hair coloring. No roots on her!

Mena, "the little budgekin" Now, that's adorable. I'll definitely try to use that next time I get near one of those creatures.

Variopinta, photoshopping is a whole lot cheaper than hiring an animal trainer to be on the set. I know, 'cuz that's what I'm doing all afternoon, and it ain't union scale.

I'd have to say that I am most impressed with the pantyhose. I stopped wearing it some time ago just 'cause I hates it and I'm not any where near post partum. She's wearing it with her nightie.

Never a run or snag, either.

I think the dead bulls scenes are just still shots of their siesta time. The tail wagging shots are meant to show that some bulls are still alive, but not feeling up to running around and playing tag or anything.

It also has bothered me that they never mention the cows. I would think that to a breeder, the mama would be just as valuable as the papa.

Quita, thanks for a brilliant recap. I loved it. I read through the comments and love them also especially from Carolina "(if life won't make me miserable, I’ll just have to do it myself!)." That's so funny and so true for several of my whiny friends and relatives :-)

I think that Dante being Dan's best friend as well as Miriam's friend should hold off on the friendly advice to Dan while he's almost at his breaking point. .

Carolina,

"It also has bothered me that they never mention the cows. I would think that to a breeder, the mama would be just as valuable as the papa."

Of course she is. If you will recall in an earlier episode there was a testing of prospective moms in the ring. I don't remember what that was called but I'll bet that Vivi does. Dan even got into the act challenging the ladies with a cape.

Carlos

Miriam should be told about the tab that La MQ must have over at the hospital, in case there's another problem with the baby.

Looks like Augie has finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the light. Let's hope she stays there.

Kelly

Vivi, I hope so, too. The writers have been outside the box on a number of things so this should serve as yet another area in which we can expect the unexpected.

To Paquita's point about the other doctor thinking that Dante was Miriam's husband, I suspect that did happen for a reason (foreshadowing will probably never stop).

Agnes, do you watch Law & Order? Yesterday they had the episode where the perp fraudulently got a sample of a dangerous pathogen from a lab that didn't want to spend the money to take the appropriate security precautions.

Finally, don't bulls and cows sleep on their feet, like horses?

Retract that last one; they lie down to sleep.

Carlos- Yep. The "La Tienta" episode happened less than 30 episodes ago, WAY back when Cam and Dan were happy and giddy, and full of joy about their upcoming wedding and getting MQ back from Isa. Feels like so long ago. They emphasized the importance about the females/las hembras/vacas bravias and the process of selecting the best ones. Maybe the keep the vacas bravias in another location?

La Tienta: The selection of the young females (vacas bravias) who will bear the fighting bulls. "La tienta es el proceso más importante de la cría de toros, puede fortalecer o acabar una ganadería. En un tentadero se evalúan aspectos como la bravura, la clase y la nobleza de las reses." There's a video about the process: http://bit.ly/UAE2R7

UA, I don't watch much of any TV except one nightly TN while I get my exercise and Downton Abbey, when it's on. But it is well-known that certain diseases like smallpox have been "eradicated" except for samples kept under lock & key in secure government-contolled locations.

And I've seen plenty of cows and bulls lying down in the pasture. I don't know if they're sleeping, maybe just relaxing or something, but certainly not sick or dead.

And I'm sure you're right about the foreshadowing at la Dra's office. They wouldn't have emphasized that fer nuthin'.

Carlos and Vivi, I do remember that scene, but I thought they were testing out the young males - they certainly looked immature to me. I understood they were just talking about the genetic contribution of the females in producing top bulls, not evaluating them in the ring, but I certainly don't get all the details right. I have a little experience with farm animals, and my understanding is that a cow is almost never going to be aggressive and only the males are silly enough to charge at a red cape. It goes back to their days in the wild, where when under attack, the females and young huddled together and the males' role was to form a circle around them and fight off predators.

In any event, I didn't mean to suggest they had never said anything in the whole series about the females, but if any have died from this virus, they have not been mentioned (or I missed it). In terms of monetary value to a breeder and any potential for rebuilding the herd post-virus, I would think that the vacas would be extremely important. It strikes me as odd that they haven't been mentioned as a serious loss as well.

Carolina, you're right about this. They haven't mentioned the value of the females, but my hunch is that as this is an emergent situatio, its impact is in the immediate future. I think it's just dawning on them all the financial liability of not being able to deliver bulls for contracts pending. The ultimate loss of the herd and potential for reproduction is so far in the future as to make it moot right now.

Carolina- I looked for the info about las tientas (when Cam kept saying the word) and found it interesting because: 1) I assumed they just used normal cows to breed the fighting bulls with. But just the same as these bulls are not ordinary bulls/toros, but toros bravos, the females are not ordinary cows, but vacas bravas; 2) I was suprised that this kind of vacas have horns like the males (although they are much smaller than the males); and 3) They are agressive like the males, hence it looked like a bull fight as they selected the females for their bravura, just like they select the males for their bravuro.

These fighting bulls come from both mothers and fathers who are fighters! I'm still never going to be a fan of bull fighting, but I always enjoy learning about something I knew nothing about. Fascinating!

It certainly looks like the writers are foreshadowing Miriam and Dante getting together in the end. Unless it's a red herring.

The way things are going, Miriam is going to be the one asking Dan for a divorce. So he may never have to man up and tell her that he loves Cam.

I also noticed the bulls wagging their tails and laughed. I think I remember one of you saying that the actor who played Julian opened one of his eyes when he was supposed to be dead, but I missed that.

Agnes, I agree completely that it is too early for all the the ramifications to have sunk in.

Vivi, thanks for the info. I do agree it is always interesting to be exposed to new info and always surprising what comes up on these TNs. I can't follow your link, but I've been to the state fair, and I did know your #1 and #2. :) #3 and that the tienta was just for females is new info. I'll watch my back around any that I come across in the future!

BTW, female moose can be extremely aggressive when defending their young. I was charged by a mean momma once.

Carolina- Ah yes, moose! We had a few run-ins in Montana.

Maybe the full video link will work (just close the ad and then the video starts): http://www.citytv.com.co/videos/37890/

"Charro beanie" haha. I love it!!! Whoever said it.

Vivi, the problem is this computer. I'll try to remember to watch it later. Moose aren't herd animals, so the females have to defend themselves, I guess. Maybe these cattle also are not herd dwellers. I also once nearly got charged by a Mexican fightin' bull. AB keeps bringing that memory back for me. Scary stuff.

Aleta,"The way things are going, Miriam is going to be the one asking Dan for a divorce. So he may never have to man up and tell her that he loves Cam."

Ha! I think you've pegged it. That would wrap everything up tidily.

thanks PDB. I like "Lavender tears" but please don't laugh at me, what does it mean? is it colloquially speaking sort of? please educate me.
I said a loud AHA when Daniel reminded Dionisio that he is still part owner of MQ. I have been wondering too about this even when Gussy was telling him to leave MQ in earlier episodes. I was so indignant with these 2 freeloaders.
I hope nothing happens to Daniel.

Vida2. Re: lavender tears -- doesn't refer to anything other than Agustina always wears lavender. But we could make something up such as crying lavender tears when you've been so blinded by your evil husband and you are finally seeing the light.
