Amor Bravío #148 (Uni 143) Mon 3/18/13
Outside the Hacienda: Daniel, Becerra, and Amanda follow her outside. Piedad, Hipolito, Dorotea, and Rodolfo are there. They tell Augustina they will call Camila. Daniel tells her they will follow her to the police station. She is put into the police car by the black-clad cops [Why on earth did they feel the need to bring billy clubs?] and taken away. Becerra then says they shouldn't alarm Camila unnecessarily and call her later if they can't get Augustina out right away. Daniel says this is not right but goes off with Becerra and Amanda. The employees are incredulous except for Rodolfo, who realizes that this was El Diablo's work. He decides to go to the police station to speak for Augustina.
Labels: bravio
You wanted to vomit, but I just want to punch Dio's face when he gloats like that. But the more arrogant he gets, the more mistakes he makes. Let’s hope he starts to make a LOT of mistakes.
ITA. Camila wanting to go it alone puts her more at risk for whatever Dio has planned for her.
The thing Juarez said is that they are going to call Dio in to make a statement (since Gussy claims he brought her into the company). And while he's there making his statement, Juarez is going to somehow maneuver to have his fingerprints taken so that they can compare them to the ones on the Hector Gutierrez marriage certificate. Meanwhile, Osvaldo is still going to try to get hold of the Las Vegas marriage certificate in hopes that it has fingerprints too.
Yay! Iliana is blabbing the news about the magic drops far and wide.
So many great lines:
Re: Bratgirl, "We may be able to retire her nickname," I guess referring to how she's blabbing about the drops to everyone she talks to.
Re: El Diablo receiving the news of Agustina's arrest: "Percussion section provides a little emphasis before the creepy violins take over." So the mood...
And let's not forget re: Leonicio:
"If he had to escape, we can think of no more appropriate means." LOL
Thanks for explaining what Leoncerdo was thinking as he watched the three guards picking up the garbage. I mistakenly thought he was considering whether he could take out all three of them (the guards)and make his escape.
Looks as if Hipo is batting two for two in his observations about Luzma and Pablo. First he notes that NG is flirting with Pablo, and now he realizes that P and L are fighting. Apparently the score is Hipo 2, Piedad 0.
I enjoyed your comment about now being able to retire Ileana's nickname. She certainly does seem to be spreading the word about Hissy and the drops. The question is whether any of the people she has told will be able to put that information to good use. That's not yet clear.
Finally, ITA that Camila's insistence on handling her mother's problem by herself is likely to play directly into Dio's sick wishes. The one ray of hope I see with Dio is that at the end of tonight's episode he really seemed to be on the verge of insanity with his repeated "Yo yo yo yo yo." And if he's truly nuts, he may make some major careless errors. Ojalá.
Gussy's cellmate is REALLY scary looking! Poor Gussy.
I too am glad that Iliana is telling everyone! At least *she* is not keeping secrets.
Dio ... goodness, can we hate him more?
Camila ... independent to a fault in this case (imho.) I agree with Dan, she shouldn't have called Dio. Her first action should be finding out all of the facts.
Piedad ... so is she saying that she will go with Luzma ... both she and Hipolito? Maybe there will be another visit to Padre Anselmo who will tell them that individual and joint therapy should be the next option, not running away.
Interesting plot regarding the book! I'd forgotten about that! Miriam can read the whole thing as a best seller. Since everyone is so nervous about giving her bad news, at the very least, they should re-visit the doctor to ask him (even if he is being blackmailed) how to manage the telling of inevitable bad news. For example, could they tell her at the hospital, under the doctor's watchful eye? So now we have the book, the photo, Caridad, and everyone else in town who can reveal the Dan/Cam truth at any moment. (BTW, I thought that Cam was a bit hostile toward Dan.)
I forgive Agustina. I feel for her now. I also feel bad for poor Gladys.
My favorite line was [We are left to wonder whether she will go to the delegacíón in that short, one-strap cocktail dress or go home first to change.]
I must say that I can’t blame Cam for not readily accepting Dan’s advice. He doesn’t have a good track record for solving problems.
I added this word to my ongoing vocabulary: “arrimada” [squatter; freeloader]. Would a male freeloader be an “El arrimado”?
Thank yous are also in order to Jardinera for her great weekend recap marathon; to Nanette for another great list, and to Anita for the update for the "Shine the Light" list!
My brain is too tired to make any worthwhile comment, but like everyone who has already posted, loved, loved your comment about Teresa's "professional" (NOT!) outfit! I died laughing!
I just hope poor Blockhead Agustina makes it through everything in one piece.
As for Piedad...what the heck?! netgirl, ITA with your group therapy comments. I guess we can see why Luzma makes/has made some questionable decisions.
Hipolito has been right on the mark about Ileana (using her real name here) and Luzma/Pablo and Piedad tells him he is imagining things! Another Blockhead!
Till tomorrow. :)

This is worthy of note before I forget it--it's late.
When Pie and Hip were in the courtyard after Gussie was paraded in front of everyone and led away in virtual chains, they were discussing how evil & bad Dio was. Hip made this pithy comment, "Malo es un Halago," meaning that referring to Dio, Bad is an Endearment.
So much going on and so many great comments already and the day is young.
I will add to what has already been said that I liked the scene of Pablo couched between his two mamas, trying to figure it all out. He and Pablo are such babies still. On the other side, excellent to have Hipolito in the fold on Luzma's side. He's the man, and full of feminine intuition, too.
I was glad to see Rafa's recovery.
Miriam is no slouch, stronger with each revelation. I do hope that someone in her group is taking note.
Shaky wheels of Mexican justice -- Yup. Poor Agustina.
Camila's near hostility toward Daniel was shocking until I realized that this is her way of being independent. She likely endured a girlhood of hearing about getting married, having a male protector, and everything other thing offensive to the reality that women are strong and intelligent. However, she is being boneheaded here because someone has to have her back when dealing with the devil.
Daniel won't back off; he will be there for her, but she won't make it easy for him.
I think that Camila showed strength last night, perhaps not fully understanding the implications of going it alone. For emotional reasons, Camila has to separate from Daniel. She has repeatedly expressed the same wish for distance from Mariano, again, with good reason. By the way, I predict (hmmm, maybe not predict, but something like that) that Miriam will distance herself from Daniel when it becomes clear that he's not really there for her.
One of the things I like so much about this novela is the strength of our female characters, even those that have been weak in the past. We have a series of independent women - Camila, Vivi, Teresa, Amanda -- all who have human weaknesses and can depend on male strength, but have survived without it. And, Piedad and Agustina have risen to the occasion when necessary. I think that Luzma, even with her emotional scars, has fundamental strength, as does Miriam. These are great counterparts to the various strong men who are in love with them. The balance and counterbalance give us much of the tension and suspense.
Anyway, Camila is being the grownup in the relationships with both Daniel and Mariano. Unfortunately, at this moment, she needs them.
I didn’t mind Tere’s outfit; she was on a social date prior to being call on an urgent case; it would have been unreasonable if she stopped home first to change. Same as last week, when she heard about the roof caving in, her priority was to first ensure that her brother was ok not if her heels were the right height.
I didn’t appreciate Cam’s downright aggression towards Dan; and the nerve of Mariano telling Dan to leave. I know Dan is on stalkish mode when it comes to Cam these days, but stalking someone is a solo act; it was unreasonable of Cam seeing Rodo tagging along and first reacted so rudely.
Cam is reacting exactly how Dionisio wants it; it’s all good to be independent but not when dealing with a perverted obsessive maniac.
Myo-
Urban- That fan is my favorite.
I wasn’t bugged by Cami being annoyed- first by Dan showing up, and then by him trying to butt in on the Gussy issue. When he showed up like that, and said something was up with her mom, it was almost an exact replay of the time he interrupted her dinner with Mar and LIED and said her mom was ill in order to get her to leave with him to the ranch. Fool me once...
Then, there was really no reason for Dan to come. Rod could have come alone or with anyone else to give her the news. She has made it more than clear that she does not want to spend time with Dan. She said her goodbyes, over and over. She doesn't want to do it anymore. She's been crystal clear about this. Dan is disregarding her wishes.
I think she DOES need to let Dan and Mar help her. But I understand first her suspicion of Dan popping up, and then her annoyance at him for butting in.
Aha, so now Roman could be a spiller of frijoles. Or I suppose that would be a shouter of frijoles
"Camila is in a mood good enough that would indicate disaster even if we...didn't know what horrible news awaits her." No truer words... A major anvil set-up if I ever saw one.
Why did no one tell Juarez that Dio had Aggie hog-tied and sequestered all night under the bed? Surely, that's a punishable offense. And speaking of those famous, hard to ge huellas, why hasn't somebody just picked up one of his ubiquitous whiskey glasses and pulled the prints from there?
On another note, it seemed like Agustina felt like she had a son for the first time. It was nice seeing Dan ib the room with Amanda and Agustina. Contrast/compare to Pablo with Refugio and Rocio.
She really doesn't see herself as being some hot ticket. I think she has a reasonable view of her attractiveness. With Mariano, she knows that a large part of the attraction is how much they have in common. She did pick up on his attraction to her long ago before Dan pointed it out. She mentioned it to Vivi in one of their girl talks, and her attitude about it at the time was there was nothing she could do about how Mar feels, because she knew how she felt about Dan/Andres. She wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, unless it became an issue-- which it eventually did.
Dio is just too icky to contemplate. She has just been trying to pretend that his obsession for her doesn't exist. But it's apparent she knows about it by the way she interacts with Dio, or doesn't. She will eventually need to admit that this is a real problem and confront it. But really, what could she do about it before now, when the man hasn't outright come on to her yet?
Great comparison of Dan and his two “moms” and Pablo and his two moms. Really, all of Cam’s friends adopted Gussy, but she has pushed their support away until now.
On another note, it seemed like Agustina felt like she had a son for the first time. It was nice seeing Dan ib the room with Amanda and Agustina. Contrast/compare to Pablo with Refugio and Rocio."
I had to quote everything, because I love it, I love you for giving our boy some love. He didn't deserve the harsh treatment from Cam.
He was a great comfort to Augustina and because of his silent plea, Juarez didn’t put the cuffs on her and throughout the whole melee; his thoughts and concerns were all about Cam.
Myo
Vivi in DC: I didn't mean to imply that Cam had flirted with Dio. (The thought is so yucky!) I was just trying to say that since she discounts her effect on people, and has specifically shut Dan down when he brings this up, she initiates situations that put her in places where the "people who want her" want her to be. You're right, she's flawed too and we love her!
In the case of Dio, by chosing to ignore his attraction to her (regardless of the grossness) she's liable to initiate an encuentro without having the proper shields in place. A little thing like "don't go to see him alone" should be a loud fire alarm in her head ... for a myriad of reasons.
It is to his credit as an actor that Cesar Evora can do this to us, considering that he is actually quite handsome.
I caught some of Abrazame muy fuerte & there was Victoria Ruffo crying (what else) y Cesar Evora being his usual evil self, although quite guapo & enjoyable doing it. The man has great facial expressions.
Love the conversations on the post, everybody.
BTW halago, also means flattery--the first time I heard it was when Alex said something nice to MJ in Sortilegio and she said she wasn't used to halagos. I had to look it up. I couldn't find an exact meaning of how Hip was using it, but I got it, saying he was malo was the nicest thing he could come up with.
Blabgirl had better watch her back or she's not going to make it to the end of the tn. Her parents had better be there in the morning.
Roman--what can we say. I think he's a red herring on the yelling frijoles. I can't think of where he and Miriam will cross paths again, so his listening at the doorway was just waiting for his cue from the director to walk in, jus' sayin'.
Yep, Leobasura is right where he belongs. Too bad he's planning an escape. I would like to see him head for Isa first and gets caught by Blabgirl and her parents, *after* he does a little damage to Isa--maybe a little gasoline and a match might be involved (here's hoping).
UA, I liked:
-reluctant Sherlock Juarez (you could see it in his face)
-sorpresa--she fell in love with Iagho (it takes one ho to know another, eh?)
-maybe she won't read the book (MM doesn't look like the romance novel reader-type)
-Luzma packing and unpacking (I wondered, too, if Pie's following Luz meant leaving Hip--though it wouldn't take much for Hip to come, too)
-Camila is in a mood good enough that would indicate disaster even if we flies on the wall didn't know what horrible news awaits her (and especially now that she thinks she's wonderwoman)
-El Diablo's Lair and the hideous laugh (he should really be on stage playing Mephistopheles)
Before I read the comments, I want to say that I think that Dion will say that he has no paperwork and this was all Aggie's work, he just encouraged her with this job. And he doesn't have any of the money from it either.
What proof they may have in Chile pertaining to Dion is phone records of Abraham's that link Dion to Chile. And there must be some sort of proof of Dion coming to see Dan at jail too. We know that they don't fingerprint marriage certificates here in the states, so they need to get them Dion.
We all know that Dan didn't need to be the one who told Cam, but come on, he's in love with her and I can't blame him. He wants to save her and comfort her and he can't help himself because he's in love with her. It's common to do reckless things when one's in love. It wasn't maliciously done.
I hate this part of the TN—knowing the bad guys are going to be on top for awhile.
I wish that the Scoobies would come up with a plan to take Dio down that requires Cam to pretend to go along with Dio and then BAM!! She springs the trap and the Con gets conned. Sweet! (Don’t know what plan, haven’t thought that far).
Ileana is in love with Iago?! Seriously?!
Netgirl: your description of Cam—dead on for me. I totally agree with your assessment. I also liked the way Dan stepped up for Agustina.
A note about a discussion yesterday about the writers writing a certain bit of business for the character, not knowing that the actor couldn’t manage it. So revise. You don’t have to be locked into it. Write something that conveys the same thing, but that the actor can manage.
As to the idea of a plan to lure El Diablo into a trap with Camila as bait, that's what I'm afraid will happen. He outweighs her by too much and is too motivated.
I know that we are all thinking about what to watch next and I for one and dreading the end of this very compelling novela. I have already bailed on Porque el amor manda, just too silly, though I love FC in a comic role. I'll try Que bonito amor, with JS.
I thought I would share here the suggestion of a Spanish teacher friend of mine. She recommends a novela that ran in Spain much like The Sopranos, Downton, etc., -- several episodes every year over several years. It's called Amor en los Tiempos Revueltos. It's fully on-line, very well done and occurs against the backdrop of the political history of Spain since the 1930s. Great for practicing listening skills with Spanish accent of Espana. I have watched just one episode and am thinking about the next one . . . a good sign!
I can't believe I have only 3 more recaps for this series.
UA: The Scoobies would have a fool proof plan with Cam in no danger--in my version. :)
Did anyone else notice how s-l-o-w Mariano drives?
Nanette- Since he spends so much time looking at Cami and not at the road, I prefer that Mariano drive slowly. LOL!
Iliana has said this about loving Iago to her mother before. Her mom didn't believe it the last time either. Iliana doesn't know what love is. Her pride has been hurt by Iago's rejection and scorn, and maybe she thinks that yearning and a desire to be wanted by him is love. In any case, Iago hasn't even ever shown sexual attraction towards her, so I don't think even hate sex will/would ever happen between those two.
I need to correct something I wrote. In fact, there are more than 200 episodes of this each season for 7 seasons. It's more like an American soap in that way. It's really interesting, but a long haul. The website has all the information.
At least we have a few more weeks of AB!
