PEAM #-9- Frisky Fern Gets Photocopied and Learns a Lesson in Self Defense Almost at the Expense of the French

Happy Spring!!!!!

Alma is approaching the driveway while Roge is trying to awaken a drunken Patti.
Alma notices that Roge is a little agitated and sees the broken glass and Roge’s disheveled clothing.  She asks what’s up, are you okay??

Alma asks for a rag and Roge will get one. He suggests a relaxing bath in the Jacuzzi. Alma calls him, he shouts, and it wakes Drunken Pati.   He warns Pati to be quiet or her head will feel the frying pan.  Why do you have the frying pan?? He was going to fry eggs.  Alma smells a rat.  She knows that he is hiding something.

Elias asks Miss Prissy (Vero) what’s the matter?  Is she worried about the owner of the big bra that was found in Jesus' apt.  Elias jokes that Jesus got lucky and Miss Priss doesn’t want to hear it.

Alma stills smells something rotten, she feels that something is not right.  Roge suggests that they relax in the Jacuzzi and make love, its Thursday.  Alma is a no go, its too scheduled and she is not in the mood.  There needs to be more spontaneity and less routine when it comes to sex.  Alma is going to leave, she needs to be alone, think about their relationship, which direction it will take, if she is the woman for him or if he is the man for her, all the while Pati wakes up noisily.

Miss Priss is still thinking about the big bra.  What size is it?? She starts comparing tomatoes, grapefruits and cantaloupes to her chest.  Elias catches her and asks if she is putting melons into the salad.  Hmmm- she has a conscience.

Roge gives Alma the pan while he gives her the golf club.  He stuffs a roll into Patti’s mouth.  It was nothing.

Alma leaves, she is not in the mood for Thursday nookie.  Roge begs, but Alma needs to be alone to think.  All couples go through this according to him.

Pati escapes but Alma’s gone.

Jesus asks Chatita for an iron and ironing board.  He tells her that he needs to iron his shirt and of course Chatita forgets.

Pati awakes the next morning with a huge hangover (and doesn’t remember anything) She asks him for a massage.  Roge is not in the mood.  She ribs Roge about his Thursday night nookie.  There was no nookie because, it was Pati’s fault and Alma just wanted to think and make up stuff, you know what women do to aggravate men, she wanted to be alone.   Pati wanted to know, did they break up?? No!!!  He wants to strangle Pati and she is ready to have it rough.  He has to do something so that Alma is not so distant.  Hmm, now why was he at Pati’s???

Chatita offered Jesus some breakfast while he burned his shirt. She asked him about Alma, and he described her smile and her big heart and of course Chatita forgot s who they were talking about.    He reminds Chatita of her brilliance and Chatita remembers her and how she admired Jesus. He’s late and his shirt has a big hole in it!!

Pati doesn’t understand Roge’s obsession with Alma.  He breaks it down, Alma is wife material while you Pati, no offense are a jump off.  He wants to mix his genes with perfection (between he and his brother that’s enough stupidity for one family) and that would be Alma.  Pati, you have a place in life but it’s not with me.

Jessica is in the warehouse and Xochy asks her advice.    Xochy likes someone and yesterday she spoke to Marisela but that didn’t work.  Jessica has something for her that won’t fail because she is not a bad looking woman just not put together well.

Jesus finally gets male pants. Jesus asks for another shirt but they are all inventoried.  He can get one but it will be deducted from his pay.  Jessica has pheromone spray that attracts the opposite sex. Jessica bathes Xochy in the spray.

Jesus enters looking rather nice and drops his bag and the cd falls out.  Xochy tires to entice Jesus with a whiff of her spray.  The Three Sillies greet Jesus with their usual stupidity.

Xochy goes back to Jessica for more advice.  Men are interested in boobs, so shorten your skirt, enhance your blouse and vaya.  Xochy thought that he would want her for her brains.

The Three Sillies are on a break and have nothing better to do but bother.  Jesus has had enough.  Jesus takes off his jacket, stupid Fern calls him Encanto and everyone makes fun of the hole in the back of his shirt.
Roge meets Alma at her car and asks if she is ready for the board meeting with the French.    Roge was full of compliments and Alma asks if he is okay.  Roge gives Susana orders to not allow Alma to talk with anyone.  He is organizing a little party for Alma, cost is no problem.  He is celebrating the rebirth of his love for Alma.

Alma likes Jesus new pants look.  He asks how was her night with Roge.  Alma dismisses him briefly but she asks him to photocopy some papers and put the cd into the computer.  (So you know that there will be a mix up- with the cds).  She tells him that last night was neither good nor bad.

The pheromones affect Horny Fernando- Yuck. He is about to attack Xochy.  She runs away and he follows.  Ewwww!!
The cds get mixed up, the French men enter and Alma greets them.

Fern corners Xochy in the copy room, she is just so irresistible.
The French men greet Roge.   Roge is looking for Frisky Fern.    Xochy tries to protect herself with karate kicks and it turns Frisky on even more.  Xochy gets him in a hold and photocopies his head.  Next time he will learn to respect women.  Xochy vents briefly to Jesus about her dislike towards Jessica.  Jesus doesn’t get it nor is he affected by the spray. Frisky Fern gives Jesus a compliment.
At the meeting- Frisky enters late and greets the French.  The French are welcomed to Mexico.

Xochy tries to wash the pheromones off.  She hates her, this product coat her money and it worked.  An idiot almost raped me.  Xochy would prefer to not mention his name.  Thanks to her self defense classes, she hurts him.

Jesus is making copies and Frisky’s face is added into the package.

Susana is ordering the stuff for tonight’s events.  As soon as Jesus talks to Xochy, Susana calls her for the list of Alma’s friends.

Jesus thought bubbles to last night when he got the cd of Valentina’s pictures and wants to look at them at his computer and sees the Avon presentation.  Oops, he switches the cds.  Brothers Dumb and Dumber are ready to have a hissy fit and start complaining about the secreatrio.  Alma is still waiting for the copies.

Jesus hurriedly gets the copies without reviewing them and hands the files to the French men.  The pictures of Frisky are shown and the French men are ready to leave.  Jesus says that in English, this is a new campaign and that in Mexico they communicate with funny pictures.  The element of surprise.  Jesus tells them to look at the figures, take it easy and have a drink of tequila, the national drink of Mexico.  Jesus orders Susana to get the tequila.  The taxi driver returns for his reward.  Jesus serves them tequila with lime, while Dumb and Dumber dismiss him.  Dumber wants to know if Jesus was trying to sabotage the French deal, but Jesus wants to know why was Dumber talking photocopies of his face.  Dumber reminds Jesus that if this deal isn’t made he will be fired.  Jesus calls Frisky’s bluff.
The French have their tequila and they accept.  Their French perfume company will work with Avon.  The French men thank Jesus.

Coming attractions:  Pati, the jump off is back and Roge wants to get engaged with Alma.

Happy Spring to all.

Tonight's episode was a little better. I could do without the 3 sillies.

Happy spring and thanks for the recap.

Things I learned watching PEAM:
1-Pat has her own secret driveway for her invisible car.
2-Vero buys 2 of each fruit. Just in case...
3-Irons don't get the brunt fabric stuck, they're self-cleanin'!
4-Avon uses the same sound effects from the Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
5-Jesús is still in his one-week trial period and instead of having all folders and copies on the table before the meeting takes place, he makes copies without checking what he is doing, offers Xóchitl help, watches his daughter pictures, and so on and so on...
6-''give a mexican a little wire and he'll fix the world''
There's nothing a little tequila won't fix!
7-Everybody show their ''diplomas'' up on the wall.

Pablo, your list is excellent.
What a laugh for number 7- what would Dumb and Dumber post on the wall???

Tablet Jefa, I loved your recap.

One of my favorite scenes -- Vero checking which size fruit she would need on her chest to fill out that bra.

Rogelio was quite frank with Pati. If she were smart she would move on -- but we know she won't.

This reminds me more & more of Dinero. The hapless employee who is not very adept at his job nonetheless comes up smelling like a rose and saves the day -- then, of course, toasts it all with tequilla.

I hated the scene with the iron -- it was so predictable.

The scene with Alma & Rogelio at his house with Pati moaning in the kitchen was well played, I thought.

I also loved Xochi getting the best of Fernando in the copy room.

Hey Lee, what is the team you are following in the Big Dance?

Güera

I just hope this TN doesn't turn into a catalog of things Jesús can do wrong in every episode and how he can become Fix-it-Felix and solve everything.
That was the reason I stopped watching AV. Every episode was like a Road runner/Wiley Coyote cartoon where Erika Buenfil or her daughter were always in the eye of the inept kidnappers. Talk about rinse and repeat to infinite and beyond!
Boring!
According to what I see during PEAM, ''someone'' is still trying to kidnap her, LOL and double LOL!!

Thanks, Tablet Jefa. You know, in all those months of PESE I never asked where you got the screen name or what it means. I liked "between Rogue and his brother that’s enough stupidity for one family."

I thought Vero was a little bit thawed tonight in the scene where she was comparing fruit to her breasts. In that scene with Fernando all over poor Xochi, all I could think of was Pepe LePew. But I liked him better than Rogue this capitulo. Rogue was SO insulting to Patimelt. I still cringe when the 3 Sillies enter a room.

TJ: Thank you for this most excellent recap. It was wonderful.

Had to laugh with Vero and the fruit too. Could it be that she has an image problem and could be the root of her, well, meaness?

Glad that Xochi kicked Fern's butt. That was too funny when she told him she knew karate. That pheramone spray that Jessie gave Xochi is something that only Fern must love cause Jessie must use it too, he is always all over her too.

The iron was predictable, and it's silk, the shirt, isn't it? Those shirts burn so easily with an iron. I am surprised that Chucho just walked about from it the way he did.

Chucho was so funny this epi, who knew he also spoke French? I like that cause Dumb and Dumber don't speak to speak it. I liked the mix of the three languages. And Chucho did save the day. He is winning more lately at Avon even though the Three Sillies still give him heck as well as the secretaries, expect for Xochi of course.

Can't wait for tomorrow to see what happens with this "renewel of love party" Rog is going to throw. Maybe Patimelt will show up and pull something, lol.

Pablo:

No, AV has moved beyond the kidnapping. It is really good now. You should take a peek sometime. : )

Really?
It was yesterday when I saw Mrs. Balvanera being shot (probably one of those misleading 'advances') in yet another kidnapping thing. And speaking of, wasn't Tomasina kidnapped lately? I think the TN should have been named: How to try to kidnap somebody without really trying, LOL

Wonderful recap Tablet jefa! Thank you! I agree that the comment about Fern's stupidity being enough for one family was funny.

I think this show improves as it goes. I have even begun to like Chatita's memory lapses (who mentioned she was like Dorie in Finding Nemo? Very accurate observation.) I enjoy it more each day, BUT...the three sillies...something HAS to be done about them. I'm pretty sure it's been said before--as individuals each actor is funny. Right now they are just awful!

I would like to see Patimelt get mad at Rogue and work against him (all the time acting like she is resigned to being his personal *ahem* toy.)

Pablo-Great list!

Can't wait for tonight's episode!

Tablet Jefa, what great nicknames: Frisky and Miss Prissy! Thanks for the recap!

The funniest parts for me were: Verónica still fascinated with the bra and "trying on" the fruit for size; Jessica all sore after the runaway truck ride; and Xochitl attracting all of the wrong attention.

I liked Jesús talking to Chatita about Alma's reaction to him the night before: she had looked at him with admiration, respect, and affection. Jesús was so cute seemed like a little kid in that scene.

Let us hope it is the end of Rogelio and Alma as a couple.

Do you think Jesús is going to have to wear that monkey suit the rest of the series? He looks so good in his own suit . . .

Jarifa

Tablet Jefa- Great recap, and fun nicknames.

My favorite part of the episode was Xochi giving Fern a taste of her women's defense class training. It was unexpected and funny. My next favorite was Vero's moment comparing her chachas to produce, and Elias' amused response. :)

Pablo- AV moved away from the kidnapping of the rich women plot a long time ago. We're deep in the weeds of everyone's personal lives and pasts now. The past week or so I have seen those preview ads you mention, and have been confused because it has nothing to do with the current plot, nor anything the bad guys are planning. I think it's a preview of developments that are going to happen in a couple of weeks or something-- and it looked more like an assault than another kidnap attempt. But, we know how previews are...

Good Recap, I missed all of last night's episode..... (NCAAs off and running with March Madness in full effect.) It will be Monday until I get to watch again. I hate not seeing Sexica, I mean Jessica....lol

Guera, My team, My Alma Mata , VCU Rams... We won 80something to 40something over Akron last night. If we can get past Michigan Saturday, we will go deep into the tourny... but Michigan can bring Ram Nation to it's knees, and send them back to Richmond....we will see.

The Orangemen also had a landslide of a victory last night...Congratulations Guera.

Judy B., you're up tonight, the Buckeyes should bury Iono...Good Luck.

Go VCU Rams!!!!

5Bleary eyed this morning. That was a late game. I admit that this time I trusted that the win was in the bag & went to bed before it was over. Good luck this weekend to JdyB & Lee and your teams.

Like your nickname for Jessica, Lee. I enjoyed the other nicknames also -- Frisky Fern & Miss Priss. I gotta say though I can't look at Colunga & call him Chuckles --he's way too hot. I loved the slightly tousled hair in this epi.

Thanks, TJ, for an entertaining recap. Loved the nicknames. And I'd never heard the expression "a jump off" before -- soooo useful for telenovelas.

Here are my dialogue gems from last night's epi:

- When Jess is trying to adjust Xochi's wardrobe, she says, "Lo que no se enseña, no se vende" -- "You can't sell it unless you show it."

- When Rogue greets Alma in the parking garage, he gushes, "You're so beautiful today, so nicely dressed, so...tall!" (She's wearing lowish heels and is visibly taller.)

- When they hear a noise in the kitchen, Rogue tells Alma it's probably just a "tacuache." When I looked that up in my antediluvian dictionary, I got "a nocturnal, insectivorous, mammalian quadruped." I think it's a possum...?

TJ - great recap.I too love your nicknames. I'm so going to have a hard time buying fruit at the store this week. The produce guy will wonder why I'm cracking up looking at melons.

Rog may be a jackass in every way, shape and well, not form...dang it has be EE playing the role, but he really laid it on the line to Patimelt. Would be fun to start seeing her playing Rog and driving him further up the tree.

But the dear boy can do the tango with Patimelt just about anytime, anywhere, but he "schedules" Alma? Hello, Alma, seriously? And this is a positive relationship to you? Speaking of scheduling...maybe Rog should reach out to Vero on the topic...or maybe that's a hint of things to come? Now there would be a pair!!

TabletJefa--I missed last night's episode, but the recap was picture perfect. I won't have access to a computer for the next few days, so I will catch up later.

TJ--Please put either the episode # or the date in your title line. Sometimes they get moved around in the archives and out of order. At least scanning the titles, if they have the episode or date helps a lot.

So we still don't have the right name for Jesus Garcia. Maybe he should just end up being JGHAWT.

I can see that Sexica is quickly becoming a favorite among some of us. She is cute to watch and hope she gets a bigger role and a back story. Maricela is like Barbara on Amorcito Corazon. Her lies will just get her into trouble. Luckily she has a job of her own--if she doesn't lose it for aiding and abetting a hostile workplace.

Love Frisky and Miss Prissy.

Adios Amigos.

...the names, that is.

Great recap TJ, thanks for allyour work. I agree this episode is more fun and moves better now that we have some back ground stories established.

Tlacuache is a nahuatl word for opossum according to Wiki. Interesting play on words is that tacuache in the Carribean means fib or lie. In this case i think Roguish meant the little animal. He has been mean to Pati especially revealing that he will marry Alma because he wants her smart genes for his children, not the fluff headed genes his kids would get from Pati. Didn't he refer to rescuing Pati from poverty too. Pati deserves more respect and at the end he is more on her level intellectually. He is also happier around her.

Thanks, Cheryl! My captions left out the "l" in "tlacuache" -- I'm surprised I even found it in my dictionary (cumbersome though the definition was...)

Yes, Rogue reminded Paty that if she walked away, he'd stop paying for everything -- the apartment, the jewels, the travel, etc. -- and put her back where he found her: en la calle. So now I'm wondering how she and Alma met...?

Pati said once that she didn't need to work because she was living off her parents inheritance. Maybe she has already spent everything and there is where Rogelio found her. Pennyless (so to speak). Pati is with Rogelio not only to keep her way of life, but I think she really loves him (he is mean and she tolerates that). Besides, she is trying to separate him from Alma so she can keep him all to herself.
I think she is Alma's friend because Alma has some upper class upbringing too. They all have money. I can not believe all that luxury (apartments in high rise with a view and so on) can be afforded with their AVON salaries...
I see in Blue's avatar, she's started with the comparisons... LOL!

Ha ha, Pablo, that profile pic is left over from the "tres millones/tres melones" pun in EVA -- but now that it's thematic again, I think I'll keep it!

And you're right, I think Paty really does love Rogue. When she is acting either lovelorn or hurt it's the only time she *doesn't* look like she's acting -- if you know what I mean.

I don't know if AVON sell franchises, but Rogelio is indeed too young to be in charge of the whole Nuevo León branch of the company.
My guess (wild) is that he got that job by chance or by rich uncle or other relative, them he saw Alma and thought about improving the gene pool (he wants his children to be in charge of the Avon company in the future). Oh! And Alma and Pati were classmates in Catholic School, so they know each other since childhood.

PS:
Without Alma's genes, the company would go to pieces, remember she is the only one who actually works in the company... Good looks and hard working? Not easy to find!!

And don't forget TALL!!! :)

Thanks for that crisp informative recap Tablet Jefa. Love the Brothers Dumb, reminds me of the Brothers Grimm.

And like Blue, I got a kick out of Rogelio gushing how "guapisima...y altissima!" Alma is. Maybe he wants some tall stature genes in addition to the IQ genes. My mom hated being short and so she fell in love and married a man who was 12 inches taller, just sayin'.

Thanks for the discussion on "tacuache"...nothing in my big Oxford dictionary, but found it in the Larousse Spanish-Spanish which also gave "zarigüera" and "tlacuache" as synonyms. All that for a possum!

I just assumed from context that it was a raccoon since those fellas really are dangerous and kill your cats if you let them out at night. I still remember the evening I opened the back door to the garage and there was a huge raccoon glaring at me while he rifled through the garbage can. I just closed the door and let him be! Now with a possum, I might be more assertive.

I also cracked up when Rogue listed Alma being "altisima!" among his compliments. LOL! I'm surprised the writers haven't included more tall jokes about her. Jessica is no shorty either.

Thanks Tableta Jefa for the excellent, entertaining recap.

It was hilarious when Jessica sprayed her perfume all over Chachi, saying it would definitely be the thing to attract the man of her dreams. Thought Chachi was going to choke and cough. Unfortunately, Chachi was disappointed when it disappointed when the perfume didn't work on Chuckles, and humiliated it worked on Fernando instead.

in tonight's episode, i also learned that...
1. irons are not on the caveman's officially approved list of power tools
2. cavemen can't label anything
3. cavemen are easily distracted and confused

Anon 2:41,

You are so right about the shirt. I couldn't think of a material that burns like that with an iron : ) I never thought of polyester. That material didn't really look wrinkled either.

Gracias Tablet jefa

I'm enjoying the silliness, not sure how I would feel if it wasn't for FC.

Memory problems aren't so bad, all your old friends become new friends.

I agree with Pablo, AV is just awful. I have it on waiting for Amor Bravio, but gave up paying attention awhile ago. I think it is perfect for the midnight slot.

Bill,
I made up the name about 8 years ago at a computer workshop when I got my first tablet. I'm a Middle School Principal- so Tablet Chief- LOL sounds better than Tablet Principal.
Guera- it's funny that you said Colunga looks too good to be called Chuckles because I wrote him in as Chuckles but when I previewed it, it just didn't seem right so I changed it back to Jesus. Chucho or maybe Chulo would suit him better.
Anonymous- sorry about the snow. I am trying to think positively because winter won't let go in the Northeast.

TJ, in a book called A Confederacy of Dunces, the lead character always writes his philosophical rants on something called 'Big Chief tablets.' I think that's a real thing.

I think the 10 commandments were also written on tablets. Stone tablets, not interactive, but tablets nonetheless...

I was anonymous 2:41, commenting about the polyester blouse and whining about the snow and I don't remember what else I said but I'm sure it was thoughtful and deep.

I don't know why my comment showed up as anonymous or why it later disappeared. I was definitely signed in and it didn't make me do a CAPTCHA. It's driving me crazy. I'm trying again as an ACTUAL anonymous this time to see if it'll at least show my comment...

Julie

Big Chief Tablets.

Middle School principal? My condolences. LOL.

I always have to do CAPTCHAs signed in or not. *shrugs*

my current captcha is "yourscum". I know my comments aren't awesome, but sheesh.

Thanks, Tablet Jefa. Love your nickname. That was a really good recap!

When Jesús was asking for the second shirt and was told they'd deduct it from his salary, I was thinking: Whoa, they wear the same uniforms every day? And they have to wash out the same shirt/blouse every night? My son had a job once that required a uniform, and they issued him a full week's shirts and pants at no cost at all.

That Thursday sex thing is extremely weird. I guess Rogue suffers from the whore-madonna complex. He's horny as all get out with the bad girl, but has formal, scheduled sex with the good one.

I was surprised that Rogue is keeping Patimelt. I believed that she was rich and didn't need to work. She as much as said so early on. Guess that's part of the reason he's laundering money for Yuri.

I loved the scene in Chatita's apartment. Yep, Vero did not notice all the family pictures everywhere. And the huge bra was a hoot!

Thank you, Bill, that Tablet Chief has a more intellectual background than the choosing of my name.
I would like to think that I am that spiritual, Pablo.
I'm still laughing Sara.

Thanks, Tablet jefa. I think the show is getting better. I enjoyed listening to Jesus speaking a little French and English. I wonder if he's been taking English lessons. He sounded better than in past novelas in which he had to speak a few words in English. FC, if you're reading this, I am offering free English lessons...Will work for room and board...and the use of your pool. Your job is not an easy one. A former student of mine started out as a teacher..became a principal..then an assistant principal...and is now a superintendent. My daughter is a ninth grade English teacher who is currently a faculty facilitator. [Que???..faculty need facilitating ???? Really ???] She used to teach history and English in a middle school. Her master's is in Educational Leadership, but I don't know if she ever wants to be an administrator. Education has changed so much in the last few years.

Bill and Tableta Jefa -- Jesus' nickname is Chucho. I just changed it to Chuckles because I was so bored and about to fall asleep, I decided I had to do something to entertain myself and make myself laugh since none of the cast, including FC, was being very entertaining or funny. That's why I started calling him Chuckles. (you have no idea what we're calling Fernando over on the TNworld forum. You probably wouldn't get the joke even if you did.)

Susanlynn --- he knows english. This is the first time ever he's been able to say more than two words in english (or any language) in a spanish telenovela. he should know english by now, he's spent enough time in Miami, living and going to college there.

Recap's up! Sorry so late.

Jody, I get it. I just think that he is tan Chulo. :-)

I've been watching this show because I would watch FC read the phone book. This has got to be one of the worst written pieces of novella garbage I've ever seen. The whole almost raped seen was repellent. It is really the great talent of the cast that makes it at all palatable.
