PEAM #-9- Frisky Fern Gets Photocopied and Learns a Lesson in Self Defense Almost at the Expense of the French
Labels: Manda
Things I learned watching PEAM:
1-Pat has her own secret driveway for her invisible car.
2-Vero buys 2 of each fruit. Just in case...
3-Irons don't get the brunt fabric stuck, they're self-cleanin'!
4-Avon uses the same sound effects from the Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
5-Jesús is still in his one-week trial period and instead of having all folders and copies on the table before the meeting takes place, he makes copies without checking what he is doing, offers Xóchitl help, watches his daughter pictures, and so on and so on...
6-''give a mexican a little wire and he'll fix the world''
There's nothing a little tequila won't fix!
7-Everybody show their ''diplomas'' up on the wall.
What a laugh for number 7- what would Dumb and Dumber post on the wall???
One of my favorite scenes -- Vero checking which size fruit she would need on her chest to fill out that bra.
Rogelio was quite frank with Pati. If she were smart she would move on -- but we know she won't.
This reminds me more & more of Dinero. The hapless employee who is not very adept at his job nonetheless comes up smelling like a rose and saves the day -- then, of course, toasts it all with tequilla.
I hated the scene with the iron -- it was so predictable.
The scene with Alma & Rogelio at his house with Pati moaning in the kitchen was well played, I thought.
I also loved Xochi getting the best of Fernando in the copy room.
Hey Lee, what is the team you are following in the Big Dance?
Güera
That was the reason I stopped watching AV. Every episode was like a Road runner/Wiley Coyote cartoon where Erika Buenfil or her daughter were always in the eye of the inept kidnappers. Talk about rinse and repeat to infinite and beyond!
Boring!
According to what I see during PEAM, ''someone'' is still trying to kidnap her, LOL and double LOL!!
I thought Vero was a little bit thawed tonight in the scene where she was comparing fruit to her breasts. In that scene with Fernando all over poor Xochi, all I could think of was Pepe LePew. But I liked him better than Rogue this capitulo. Rogue was SO insulting to Patimelt. I still cringe when the 3 Sillies enter a room.
Had to laugh with Vero and the fruit too. Could it be that she has an image problem and could be the root of her, well, meaness?
Glad that Xochi kicked Fern's butt. That was too funny when she told him she knew karate. That pheramone spray that Jessie gave Xochi is something that only Fern must love cause Jessie must use it too, he is always all over her too.
The iron was predictable, and it's silk, the shirt, isn't it? Those shirts burn so easily with an iron. I am surprised that Chucho just walked about from it the way he did.
Chucho was so funny this epi, who knew he also spoke French? I like that cause Dumb and Dumber don't speak to speak it. I liked the mix of the three languages. And Chucho did save the day. He is winning more lately at Avon even though the Three Sillies still give him heck as well as the secretaries, expect for Xochi of course.
Can't wait for tomorrow to see what happens with this "renewel of love party" Rog is going to throw. Maybe Patimelt will show up and pull something, lol.
Pablo:
No, AV has moved beyond the kidnapping. It is really good now. You should take a peek sometime. : )
It was yesterday when I saw Mrs. Balvanera being shot (probably one of those misleading 'advances') in yet another kidnapping thing. And speaking of, wasn't Tomasina kidnapped lately? I think the TN should have been named: How to try to kidnap somebody without really trying, LOL
I think this show improves as it goes. I have even begun to like Chatita's memory lapses (who mentioned she was like Dorie in Finding Nemo? Very accurate observation.) I enjoy it more each day, BUT...the three sillies...something HAS to be done about them. I'm pretty sure it's been said before--as individuals each actor is funny. Right now they are just awful!
I would like to see Patimelt get mad at Rogue and work against him (all the time acting like she is resigned to being his personal *ahem* toy.)
Pablo-Great list!
Can't wait for tonight's episode!
The funniest parts for me were: Verónica still fascinated with the bra and "trying on" the fruit for size; Jessica all sore after the runaway truck ride; and Xochitl attracting all of the wrong attention.
I liked Jesús talking to Chatita about Alma's reaction to him the night before: she had looked at him with admiration, respect, and affection. Jesús was so cute seemed like a little kid in that scene.
Let us hope it is the end of Rogelio and Alma as a couple.
Do you think Jesús is going to have to wear that monkey suit the rest of the series? He looks so good in his own suit . . .
Jarifa
My favorite part of the episode was Xochi giving Fern a taste of her women's defense class training. It was unexpected and funny. My next favorite was Vero's moment comparing her chachas to produce, and Elias' amused response. :)
Pablo- AV moved away from the kidnapping of the rich women plot a long time ago. We're deep in the weeds of everyone's personal lives and pasts now. The past week or so I have seen those preview ads you mention, and have been confused because it has nothing to do with the current plot, nor anything the bad guys are planning. I think it's a preview of developments that are going to happen in a couple of weeks or something-- and it looked more like an assault than another kidnap attempt. But, we know how previews are...
Good Recap, I missed all of last night's episode..... (NCAAs off and running with March Madness in full effect.) It will be Monday until I get to watch again. I hate not seeing Sexica, I mean Jessica....lol
Guera, My team, My Alma Mata , VCU Rams... We won 80something to 40something over Akron last night. If we can get past Michigan Saturday, we will go deep into the tourny... but Michigan can bring Ram Nation to it's knees, and send them back to Richmond....we will see.
The Orangemen also had a landslide of a victory last night...Congratulations Guera.
Judy B., you're up tonight, the Buckeyes should bury Iono...Good Luck.
Go VCU Rams!!!!
Like your nickname for Jessica, Lee. I enjoyed the other nicknames also -- Frisky Fern & Miss Priss. I gotta say though I can't look at Colunga & call him Chuckles --he's way too hot. I loved the slightly tousled hair in this epi.
- When Jess is trying to adjust Xochi's wardrobe, she says, "Lo que no se enseña, no se vende" -- "You can't sell it unless you show it."
- When Rogue greets Alma in the parking garage, he gushes, "You're so beautiful today, so nicely dressed, so...tall!" (She's wearing lowish heels and is visibly taller.)
- When they hear a noise in the kitchen, Rogue tells Alma it's probably just a "tacuache." When I looked that up in my antediluvian dictionary, I got "a nocturnal, insectivorous, mammalian quadruped." I think it's a possum...?
Rog may be a jackass in every way, shape and well, not form...dang it has be EE playing the role, but he really laid it on the line to Patimelt. Would be fun to start seeing her playing Rog and driving him further up the tree.
But the dear boy can do the tango with Patimelt just about anytime, anywhere, but he "schedules" Alma? Hello, Alma, seriously? And this is a positive relationship to you? Speaking of scheduling...maybe Rog should reach out to Vero on the topic...or maybe that's a hint of things to come? Now there would be a pair!!
TJ--Please put either the episode # or the date in your title line. Sometimes they get moved around in the archives and out of order. At least scanning the titles, if they have the episode or date helps a lot.
So we still don't have the right name for Jesus Garcia. Maybe he should just end up being JGHAWT.
I can see that Sexica is quickly becoming a favorite among some of us. She is cute to watch and hope she gets a bigger role and a back story. Maricela is like Barbara on Amorcito Corazon. Her lies will just get her into trouble. Luckily she has a job of her own--if she doesn't lose it for aiding and abetting a hostile workplace.
Love Frisky and Miss Prissy.
Adios Amigos.
Tlacuache is a nahuatl word for opossum according to Wiki. Interesting play on words is that tacuache in the Carribean means fib or lie. In this case i think Roguish meant the little animal. He has been mean to Pati especially revealing that he will marry Alma because he wants her smart genes for his children, not the fluff headed genes his kids would get from Pati. Didn't he refer to rescuing Pati from poverty too. Pati deserves more respect and at the end he is more on her level intellectually. He is also happier around her.
Yes, Rogue reminded Paty that if she walked away, he'd stop paying for everything -- the apartment, the jewels, the travel, etc. -- and put her back where he found her: en la calle. So now I'm wondering how she and Alma met...?
I think she is Alma's friend because Alma has some upper class upbringing too. They all have money. I can not believe all that luxury (apartments in high rise with a view and so on) can be afforded with their AVON salaries...
I see in Blue's avatar, she's started with the comparisons... LOL!
And you're right, I think Paty really does love Rogue. When she is acting either lovelorn or hurt it's the only time she *doesn't* look like she's acting -- if you know what I mean.
My guess (wild) is that he got that job by chance or by rich uncle or other relative, them he saw Alma and thought about improving the gene pool (he wants his children to be in charge of the Avon company in the future). Oh! And Alma and Pati were classmates in Catholic School, so they know each other since childhood.
Without Alma's genes, the company would go to pieces, remember she is the only one who actually works in the company... Good looks and hard working? Not easy to find!!
And like Blue, I got a kick out of Rogelio gushing how "guapisima...y altissima!" Alma is. Maybe he wants some tall stature genes in addition to the IQ genes. My mom hated being short and so she fell in love and married a man who was 12 inches taller, just sayin'.
Thanks for the discussion on "tacuache"...nothing in my big Oxford dictionary, but found it in the Larousse Spanish-Spanish which also gave "zarigüera" and "tlacuache" as synonyms. All that for a possum!
I just assumed from context that it was a raccoon since those fellas really are dangerous and kill your cats if you let them out at night. I still remember the evening I opened the back door to the garage and there was a huge raccoon glaring at me while he rifled through the garbage can. I just closed the door and let him be! Now with a possum, I might be more assertive.
It was hilarious when Jessica sprayed her perfume all over Chachi, saying it would definitely be the thing to attract the man of her dreams. Thought Chachi was going to choke and cough. Unfortunately, Chachi was disappointed when it disappointed when the perfume didn't work on Chuckles, and humiliated it worked on Fernando instead.
in tonight's episode, i also learned that...
1. irons are not on the caveman's officially approved list of power tools
2. cavemen can't label anything
3. cavemen are easily distracted and confused
You are so right about the shirt. I couldn't think of a material that burns like that with an iron : ) I never thought of polyester. That material didn't really look wrinkled either.
I'm enjoying the silliness, not sure how I would feel if it wasn't for FC.
Memory problems aren't so bad, all your old friends become new friends.
I agree with Pablo, AV is just awful. I have it on waiting for Amor Bravio, but gave up paying attention awhile ago. I think it is perfect for the midnight slot.
I made up the name about 8 years ago at a computer workshop when I got my first tablet. I'm a Middle School Principal- so Tablet Chief- LOL sounds better than Tablet Principal.
Guera- it's funny that you said Colunga looks too good to be called Chuckles because I wrote him in as Chuckles but when I previewed it, it just didn't seem right so I changed it back to Jesus. Chucho or maybe Chulo would suit him better.
Anonymous- sorry about the snow. I am trying to think positively because winter won't let go in the Northeast.
I don't know why my comment showed up as anonymous or why it later disappeared. I was definitely signed in and it didn't make me do a CAPTCHA. It's driving me crazy. I'm trying again as an ACTUAL anonymous this time to see if it'll at least show my comment...
Julie
my current captcha is "yourscum". I know my comments aren't awesome, but sheesh.
When Jesús was asking for the second shirt and was told they'd deduct it from his salary, I was thinking: Whoa, they wear the same uniforms every day? And they have to wash out the same shirt/blouse every night? My son had a job once that required a uniform, and they issued him a full week's shirts and pants at no cost at all.
That Thursday sex thing is extremely weird. I guess Rogue suffers from the whore-madonna complex. He's horny as all get out with the bad girl, but has formal, scheduled sex with the good one.
I was surprised that Rogue is keeping Patimelt. I believed that she was rich and didn't need to work. She as much as said so early on. Guess that's part of the reason he's laundering money for Yuri.
I loved the scene in Chatita's apartment. Yep, Vero did not notice all the family pictures everywhere. And the huge bra was a hoot!
I would like to think that I am that spiritual, Pablo.
I'm still laughing Sara.
Susanlynn --- he knows english. This is the first time ever he's been able to say more than two words in english (or any language) in a spanish telenovela. he should know english by now, he's spent enough time in Miami, living and going to college there.
