Qué Bonito Amor #6 (Mex 8.2-9) Monday 4/22/13
tu tienes tu novia que es Guadalajara,
muchacha bonita, la perla mas rara,
de todo jalisco es mi Guadalajara.
Y me gusta escuchar los mariachis,
cantar con el alma sus lindas canciones,
oir como suenan esos guitarrones
y echarme un tequila con los valentones.
Ay !, Jalisco no te rajes,
Ay !, Jalisco no te rajes ...
Ay ! Jalisco, Jalisco, Jalisco,
tus hombres son machos y muy cumplidores,
valientes y ariscos y sostenedores,
no admiten rivales en cosas de amores.
Es tu orgullo tu traje de charro,
llevar tu pistola fajada en el cinto,
tener tu guitarra pa' echar mucho tipo
y a los que presumen quitarles el hipo.
Ay !, Jalisco no te rajes ...
Abrir todo el pecho pa' echar este grito,
que lindo es jalisco, palabra de honor.
Pero el dia que yo me muera
Se que tendras que llorar.
(Llorar y llorar, llorar y llorar)
Diras que no me quisistes
Pero vas a estar muy triste
Y asi te me vas a quedar.
Coro:
Con dinero y sin dinero.
Yo hago siempre lo que quiero.
Y mi palabra es la ley.
No tengo trono ni reina.
Ni nadie que me comprenda.
Pero sigo siendo el rey.
Una piedra en el camino
Me enseno que mi destino.
Era rodar y rodar.
(Rodar y rodar, rodar y rodar)
Tambien me dijo un arriero
Que no hay que llegar primero
Pero hay que saber llegar.

Thank you so much for this marvelous recap. Ay yi yi, waiting for Alfredo and Maria to kiss is going to be a long time. They get so close and then....kiss on the forehead, sigh!
I love that song "El Rey", there is a video on Youtube of Pablo singing it live in concert, but I don't know what year it was.
Thanks also for the lyrics you put up of the songs.
I'm glad Alfredo actually knew how to fix the car. Good for him.
I was really hoping we would see that picture of Amalia's husband. I can't wait until we can see it.
He can fly a plane, drive a big rig, sing Mariachi (though there apparently were some early doubts... unfortunately my recorder cut off early Fri and his first attempt wasn't repeated last night), he sells cars so why would we doubt he can fix 'em?
"...talk about seeing each other in the morning to get him his traje de charro. [10,000 pesos says he gets the enshrined one.]"
No doubt, because don Concho didn't send Mirna to call his lawyer but to call the Mariachi suit rental guy to triple his usual fee (instead of a discount as he originally told her in front of Maria and Alfredo) so it will take longer for Alfredo to accumulate enough money to return to LA. He doesn't want him leaving so soon... "No way, José!"
During the avances I cringed because it almost looked as though Rogelio (LQNPA) might be back.
Carlos
I think it will be a while before we see the photo of Maria's father but I think that Maria will give Santos the traje that belonged to him.
Which makes me wonder if anyone is going to take offense at that. Amalia was willing to sell it because they need money and she will be really upset if Maria gives it to Jorge Alfredo because it has to have been expensive.
Don Concho is likely to recognize it; I will guess that Fernando will, too. We don't know when Pedro died (or disappeared) so I'm not quite ready to say that Oscar will recognize it.
'Elvira needs a drool mask à la Leoncerdo from AB.'
My favorite over the top scene was Alfredo spinning María around and the stars flashing from the hem of her skirt. Alfredo is clearly a man of many talents. :)
Jarifa La Joya del Norte
'Santos Martinez de la Garza de mariachi... como sea para volver a LA para sacar a mis amigos de la carcel... pero sobre todo... lavar el honor de mi familia.'
what a line!... it shows a lot of Santos spirit and values... in his dreams he never imagined himself making it as a mariachi but he will do whatever to go back, get his friends out of jail and clean/restore the honor of his family. that speaks volumes.
and he will have to go through hell on earth 'Santos, no te rajes!'
In view of what had happened with Pablo's singing in FELS I am surprised that Mejia is allowing him to sound like himself here. I was half-expecting something different. Had I written this series I might have made Oscar older, perhaps with voice problems and a real reason to resent Santos.
Although as I wrote that I was wondering whether an older or younger stalker is creepier. And Oscar is stalking Maria even if it's not 24/7.
But if you think about it, Santos' family does own a car dealership and he probably grew up hanging around his dealership's mechanics, poking around under the hood and watching them fix cars.
LOLAPD accused Santos of running around Mexico buying TVs etc. I guess it never occurred to them that his card could've been stolen. If they can get tape of him checking in/out of hotels they can get tape of who was using his credit cards.
On another note, everyone be careful going out there, they just found 4 'suspicious devices' at or near a mall and day care center in east Orlando. I am west of there, between Orlando and Winter Garden. surely our 'peace of mind' has been affected by all these events recently. Prayers go to the victims and relatives.
The repair looked like it was pretty simple and took relatively little time. Something more complicated might be another issue down the road.
"LOLAPD" indeed. They are incompetent if they think that a fugitive would use an easily traceable credit card.

ITA. and even more so a Well educated well informed fugitive.
Well, in LHDM Emiliano had a PHD in economics which would make him very well aware of that area/fact.
Santos seems to know enough, since he asked Rigo to check into the hotel with his name, and Santos would pay cash for it. So Santos must have enough financial savy.
OT: Sheriff has said on TV that two of the packages in FL are false alarm. hopefully the other two are also false alarms. but at least it shows that we are becoming more alert/aware of what is going around us.
There have to be more non-Hispanics watching for this to happen.
Back to our story. I'm sure that the traje we see Santos wearing in the poster shots is the one in Maria's apartment. If Don Concho plays games to get him to pay more than he should I can easily see Maria taking that suit out of the case and handing it to him.

I dearly hope he stopped smoking. You need lung power and a lot of breath control for this.
Why doesn't Alejandro Fernandez take acting lessons?
Elvira has cleaned up a bit since her first appearance. She has a Julia Roberts wide-mouth grin that is actually quite enchanting.
UA, loved the phrases....'Despite having none herself she seems to know class when she sees it' and ...'Elvira isn't thinking past her hormones' and ...'[the saucy-wench waitresses] know an alpha male when they see one' (except that he spends a lot of time thanking Maria for this and that).
The LOLAPD are going on the facts that all these appliances are being bought in different parts of Mexico and suspect that Santos is being assisted to stay in hiding by criminal organizations. The report that the plane had been sabotaged is a very early unveiling--this would be something ordinarily held back until after Santos is captured and put in jail (only a deduction, of course, based on normal tn law).
(I went back and watched the very first episode and I heard Bruno and Arnold talking about the hidden money during the raid. Bruno said he hadn't had time to remove it from the car because it had been delivered late and since Mike was going to be getting the car that night, he couldn't get near it. The Godfather wasn't going to be too pleased to lose the money. So we know there *is* a criminal organization somewhere in the background.)
I suspect Santos' friend Rigoberto, the truck driver, sold the medallion and is now acquiring "stuff" with cash to put in his future house. But if he's using cash, how are the popos tracing him? Santos didn't give him his credit card number--all Santos had on him was the medallion and wet cash.
I knew Santos was going to fix the car. Except that he needed it, he should have refused the cash from Colosso--just to be one up on him. At least he gave him the unshaken hand.
I'm really enjoying the stage numbers and the singing--more than I thought I would.
It seems we are(at least the ladies in the audience, or at least I am) ready to forgive Mejia anything since he got Jorge Salinas in the lead.
We were robbed of a kiss by that metiche Mirna.
Tonight is Ellie's debut as recapper. Let's welcome her to the fold, be supportive and kind to her.

Rigoberto sold the medallion, but I doubt they know this unless it can be identified by an engraving or something like that. I was tempted to think that Santos was foolish for giving it away, but at the time he had no clue he was going to end up on the run.
We may wait a while longer for that first kiss. Does anyone remember how long we waited for the first kiss in Ramona?
One thing there will be no argument about: He looks hot in mariachi clothes!
Carlos
UA: Thanks for the great read! You had some great snarky lines in this one:
"while Elvira needs a drool mask à la Leoncerdo from AB."
"Mama is something of a ramera herself."
"Despite having none herself she seems to know class when she sees it"
Some of the slang is really hard to follow and/or translate cuz some of these words just don't show up in the average dictionary, and I can go three or four places at times and try differing key words of the phrases and still get nada.
Anyway, I was glad to read how JS had gotten help in learning to sing with the right type of emphasis for these particular songs. His voice even the first time was good, but he was purposely not putting the proper umph into it. So I got the feeling when I watched the whole scene from the beginning again that he didn't want Maria getting fired because he'd blown it, so that spurred him on to throw caution to the winds and to "go for it" during that tryout IMO.
BTW, I've been hit with mariachi-itis and now I'm turning on Pandora and hearing all of these classics. Very invigorating when having to get through the daily grind, ya know?
Jardinera654-La Duena de la Recamara
That is when he takes a huge breath and begins the long retained 'AAAYYY' note and the rest of the song. Also, he knew the chances of getting a job elsewhere would be slim to none, so even though he had never seen himself as a 'mariachi', when life gives you just lemons, you gotta make lemonade.
My guess is the jalisco no te rajes was a mix of his own singing and dubbing. The later part dubbed.
Carlos
From the little they gave us on their backgrounds (each from el extranjero), it doesn't seem as though any of them learned any car mechanic skills.
At this point in their careers, at least for Coloso, fixing a car would be beneath him.
Probably why he mentioned that Jorge Alberto's hands were not the hands of a mechanic--too delicate.
Anita, La Dama del Queso
I think there are something like 5 rooms we've seen backstage. Maria and Oscar each appear to have their own private dressing rooms--not sharing one room like I originally thought. There's a locker room for the saucy wenches, a locker room for the mariachis, and then I think the room that everyone gathers in most is more of a green room.
Seriously? All that was wrong with the Mariachimobile was a loose spark plug?
I'm also really curious about the traje's cost in comparison to expected wages.
And, yes, please, let's hear someone sing Rata de Dos Patas before this is all over!
