Corazón Indomable #15, 5/31/13: Maricruz Does NOT Listen to the Advice of Her Theme Song

RECAP BY CECE

The Short
Tav has not yet recovered his bout of galanitis.
Lucia still hates MC.
The Voice is still determined to find his daughter
MC is putting up a front but deep down inside she still loves HER Octavio.  She will do ANYTHING to keep him from leaving.

And the Looongg

MC is showing off her new riding skills in front of Tav and hottie Eduardo. Tav is worried about MC hurting herself so he chases after her. Tav introduces the two and Eduardo comments on MC beauty and excellent riding skills. MC is all like “yea I know” (love this newfound confidence and attitude). Tav wants to know why MC took the horse when he would have given it to her if she just asked. Topic moves to Tav who gets shut down once more when MC firmly states that he is no longer important to her. Eduardo says of course this conceited -----and MC cuts him saying she’s the only one who can diss her man (Lol!).  After expressing how much she does not care about Tav and how he can leave tomorrow for all she cares, she sassily exits back to her hut. Eduardo tells Tav that obviously MC does not care about him and he should move on. Tav just stares in confusion at MC’s new attitude, he believes she is pretending (because obviously women do not just get over him that quickly…. Maybe Eduardo was right).

Back to the Vipers den, Tav tells Miguel, Lucia and Ester that MC took the horse. Miguel informs Tav that he has already contacted the police. Lucia plasters a creepy smile on her face so you know she is up to no good.

Abuelo talks with Maria because he is conflicted about going against his daughter’s last words if he helps MC find her father.  >>>>FF

Lucia has known it all along!! Now a thief can be added to MC’s many accolades. This basura has no limits! Tav tells her to stop exaggerating MC just borrowed the horse for some time.

MC is retelling earlier events to Jose Antonia who thinks she is crazy. He informs her that Miguel went to the police and MC is worried for all of 2 minutes before shaking it off and saying that she returned the horse so everything should be ok. (If only it were that easy MC…you are severely underestimating your enemies).  Jose Antonia doesn’t understand why she does the stuff she does. MC reveals (not much of a surprise) that she still loves Tav. She wants to appear fine and distinct and act like a lady…, which is what Octavio likes…but she is not able to. She would give anything to be more refined.

The Voice has reappeared and looks like he has hired a PI to help find his daughter.  Later he says that he has to travel and the main butler (I forget his name) reminds him that he cannot. The Voice states he has to take care of some business matters.
In the kitchen, Eduardo asks the million-dollar question “What do you feel for MC??” Tav immediately answers pity. (Geez I was at least hoping for a “yo quiero”.). Eduardo comments that this is not enough for him to stay by her side forever.  Tav agrees and adds that sometimes he just can’t stand her but she is nonetheless a victim in all this mess. Eduardo states that MC is young; she will bounce back and find some countryman of her own class. Yea MC is pretty, very nice, aggressive but at the same time he can just cast her aside. (Eduardo just smile because the more you speak the more notches you drop in the cute meter). Tav retorts that MC is sweet, loving, humble and possessive but…. Eduardo finishes that she has no education, no morals. She will never be able to communicate with people of his class. With that Eduardo has convinced Tav …he is determined to leave this week!!’

The cops make a visit to MC hut. The main chief that must also have a vendetta against MC accuses her of stealing the horse. MC admits she may have “borrowed” the horse but she gave it back. And plus…. her husband was going to give it to her as a gift anyway so its not like its stealing. The chief also hints at her being involved with the shooting of Jose Antonio. She denies all his accusations and the chief says sooner or later justice will serve itself.

Next morning Santa and Jose Antonio overhear Eduardo and Tav talking about leaving ASAP. Tav is worried about MC but he thinks it’s a great idea to leave the housing project for MC into his brothers’ hands (Ok so Tav has ½ a brain cell…. seriously your brother who has spewed so much hate against MC and is also husband to the viscous number one anti-fan of MC Lucia…smh). Tav tells Miguel that he knows they want him out so he will go . Miguel eventually tells his wife and Esther of the good news. Tav is leaving!! Never coming back!! Lets open that wine bottle to celebrate (ok the last thing was not said but seriously…these folks have some strange family dynamics).

Ever the loyal Jose tells MC what he overhead but she refuses to believe him.  Tav is making his way over to do just that. Deliver the bad news.  MC puts on some major attitude but Tav just wants her to hear him out which she concedes. He tells her that she cannot go to the ranch anymore, the Vipers are thinking about bringing viscous dogs to the ranch ti keep her out. It’s for her own safety (then why are you leaving MC care in your brother’s hand’s fool!!!). She agrees. Mr. Smooth asks to sit next to MC only for us to endure some minutes of half longing, half sad, timid sneaking glances stares until MC’s will breaks and she rests on his shoulders. MC is glad they are like before. She takes his hand and tells him to feel her heart. Tav breaks this moment by telling MC he cannot build her house now as promised.  He has no money so at the end of this week he is going to Mexico and she cannot come along! He hopes that she can understand. MC doesn’t understand why he cannot stay and find work her. Tav says that with being a pilot again he can send her money so that she can build her house. MC says what the point of building a house if he is not going to be there.  He says he will visit sometimes but MC reads right through him and believes he is never going to return. If this is so she does not want anything from him! She refuses the house and is determined to stay put in her little hut!

Head Boss tells Quasimodo that he should be careful and not let his affections get carried away. Quasimodo is aware of this and he says if she ever wants to leave he has no right to detain her at his house.

Alejandro has arrived and is on the way to meet Carola (blonde lady). He inquires of her sister. Blonde lady needs to get her sister to work because right now she does everything herself…well she is in charge of everything. Alejandro brings up the topic of his long lost daughter and because of that he can’t makes any promises to her sister. He wants his daughter to have everything. They got down to business when the girl Quasimodo is taking care of interrupts them.  For whatever reason Alejandro is concerned for the girl but Blonde lady states that their relationship is pure.  Alejandro has a little talk with Quasimodo and tells him that he does not get his hopes up with the girl.  Quasimodo states that he knows he cannot have the same feelings as the rest of the world. Blonde lady decides to be in the Xmas spirit and give the girl a job, which makes Quasimodo happy. For whatever reason he think that’s the girl and Quasimodo friendship will turn into a drama that only the girl will suffer from

Tav comes back with a long face and reports to Eduardo that MC denies everything he wanted to give her if he doesn’t stay here with her, which is not going to happen. Tav doesn’t want her to suffer.

MC talks with her Moctavio and tries to figure out what she will do to make Octavio stay.  Later that night poor Solita has nightmares about EeewwSawbio attacks. MC wakes her up and questions her. Solita actually tries to explain by describing the face but MC cannot understand.

Tav enters dinner late because he was at the notary office. Things have become a little complicated so he is not able to leave this week. He has to stay longer to get things in order for MariCruz. Lucia interjects claiming that no worries, she will help him get everything sorted out. Tav denies saying he does not trust them enough and he will personally sign and deliver it to MC himself (maybe he does have a brain cell).

Next morning Eduardo leaves and Tav promises that he will meet up with Eduardo the following week. MC bumps into JA who informs her that Tav is no longer leaving the end of this week. MC suddenly has a crazy notion in her head. She walks back to her hut and states that she needs to do something to keep Octavio here. While walking she suddenly feels faint or has pains but dismisses it.  She finally reaches the hut, grabs the riffle and runs back out repeating Octavio is not gonna leave! The Man of the hour is also riding the horse at this moment. MC hides in the bushes and gets ready to….

We end with MC pulling the trigger (wow didn’t think she had it in her…this is one slightly crazed impulsive heroine we have on our hands). What happens to Octavio?? We must wait until next week to find out!

My goodness...sounds like I missed quite an episode. Enjoyed your rant about the viper's den and musings on the number of Octavio's brain cells....1/2? or maybe one whole cell!

Yes, the writers do seem to have him flipping back and forth between reasonably astute and intelligent and absolutely dopey.

Now that we can no longer say Hurry Eduardo! guess we'll have to say Hurry The Voice! Time for life to be looking up for Maricruz. But is there any way that she can take Solita with her? Certainly don't want the poor defenseless child to stay within Eusebio-range another minute.

Thanks Cece. Don't feel like I missed a thing, thanks to your detailed recap.

Thank you so very much CeCe. I could hardley wait to read the recap this morning. This novela has me in top 10 mode since day one and last night was no different
Great job! Now I understand all of what transpired last night. I liked your short and long of it. Oh! you really made me laugh when you wrote that Tav had 1/2 a brain cell. Well if he has even that much, he needs to get a tune up because that 1/2 cell isn't firing

OH NO!!! She shot him? Well let's hope not. Maybe she missed and the horse just got scared from the rifle shot and only threw Tav off. If he actually
did get shot, how is Maricruz going to explain that to the policia?

I had to laugh last night when the local sherrif came out to the shack to talk to Maricruz about the missing horse. The sherrif's backup officer's were dressed in full riot/combat gear---QUE!!! Yes
Maricruz is pretty tough, you guys better put on your assult gear and make sure your assult rifles have pleanty of extra bullets. Maricruz is oh soooo dangerous. They looked like they were going after the narco cartel instead of Maricruz.

Carlos---Thanks for the movie clip yesterday on Divina Confusion. I think that I will add it to my collection.
Evil Eyes---I'm disliking her and her eyes so much that I can barely stand to look at her.
the gringo

that's hardly --- sorry

Tks Cece

1/2 a brain might be too much. Octavio is just new realizing he can't build the house because he doesn't have money? He thought he had money before ?que what?

Now all I have to look forward to is Eduardo in uniform.

Such a crazy show today. Thanks CeCe. It was all over the place, and very hard to keep up with.
I now officially hate Octavio and I'm praying to the TN gods that MC doesn't end up with him at the end. I know that probably won't happen, but he can't change enough for me to ever like him. And since Eduardo has the same attitude as Octavio, I don't like him either.

The butler's name is Tobias.

I think that MC's dress is a magic dress. It never flips up when she mounts the horse or when she's galloping. It stays conservatively down on her thighs, covering up all her private parts. And it stays white.

CeCe, enjoyed your recap and the little jabs at our hot guys with no hearts, no brains.

It was fun seeing Moctavio playing in the hanging basket in the hut. At least things are going well for him.

MC did a good job standing up for herself with the sheriff--kept calm and made a logical case.

The "last snuggle" scene outside the hut tugged at my heartstrings a little. BUT--I had to ask myself this question--Is this the guy you want flying a plane full of people, in control of their safety and their lives? I think not. (Or as MC would say, NO, senor!)

Taking responsibility isn't his strong suit. Looking strong in a pilot's suit--yes. Actually being strong--no. We don't know how their daddy raised them, but neither Miguel nor Octavio are real standup guys at this point.
They are being led by the nose or other anatomical parts so far.

Poor Solita! She really tried to tell about her worries. Gave a good image of Ewwsebio, with the beard and the whip. I think MC was too distracted by her own troubles.

La Paloma, good point about Solita. I understood who she was referring to, why didn't MC? She's lived with her her whole life, they must have reached some point of communication during all that time. It reminds me of being in the store and a toddler is saying something over and over but his mom has no idea what the child is saying, but it's obvious what he's trying to say because he's even pointing to it. I try to butt out but sometimes it's hard.

Great job Cece!

I was both laughing and covering up my mouth in shocked horror when MC grabbed the gun and actually shot Octavio. Then I thought, OMG, our heroine is CRAZY! I kind of like that we never know what she'll do next.

I don't think Ed said he can just abandon MC. I think he said the opposite. He's all for Octavio setting things up to support MC. But he also doesn't think that an uneducated girl lacking in manners fits into Octavio's world. This is true.

His mistake is thinking that she somehow can't get education, and that it's just better for her to find someone of her own class and stay where she is. I think Ed also became more convinced of this because Octavio did not say he loves MC, but instead only feels pity for her. Ed is right to advise him to divorce her, provide some support for her, and let her find someone else who actually loves her as she is. He was also polite to MC and complimented her in sincere way, so I am not ready to write him off yet. He's an outsider seeing the situation and from his point of view it's best for Octavio to let MC go. I agree with him. He's also a young, single guy, and being married and tied down to a ranch is not something he considers to be that great. I'm not ready to write off Hot Ed yet.

La Paloma- I think I may be letting MY anatomical parts lead me in my defense of Ed. LOL! Still, until he does or says something really cruel, as opposed to ignorant or slightly snobby, I'm keeping an open mind (and open eyes).

Solita's description of Ewsebio was perfect. MC was too distracted to catch on. Poor Solita. My heart was breaking for her.

Before my laugh at our heroine shooting her galan, I also laughed at the police chief feeling the need to bring FIVE fully armored and armed SWAT team members to catch one teenage horse thief.

In El Señor de los Cielos the other day, the bosses of one of the big drug gangs mentioned they were going to Tamaulipas to regroup (they were murdered before they got there). In any case, with all those narcos running around, surely the police have way more important stuff to do than going after a horse thief.

Vivi, I'm sure that I could be as forgiving as you if I thought either guy were good looking, but sorry ladies, I don't. If Cristian de la Fuente were playing Octavio, he could get away with almost anything in my lust book, but not this guy. And Eduardo doesn't do anything for me either. His straight hairline really bothers me. And his eyebrows could use a trim.

CdlF is in another category, along with Marcelo Cordoba!

But Ed just hasn't really done anything to tick me off (yet). Octavio has done plenty to tick me off. Notice, I am not defending him.

I don't think that CdlF could pull off being such an a-hole. He has too sweet of a look to do that.

Well, there were plenty who felt Dan (CdlF) in AB was being a complete a-hole for first hiding his identity from Cam, and then hiding the truth from Miriam. (I disagree.)

With Octavio we are seeing true, classic telenovela galan a-hole behavior. There should be some kind of prize given for biggest patan among galans each year. Octavio would definitely be a top contender. Dan wouldn't make the list. We should start keeping a tally of all the patan-like things he does or says, and balance that against whatever he eventually does or says to win MC back by the end. Would the scales be balanced or tip in his favor, I wonder?

Funny recap. I was counting Tav's cells with you. Hate him right now. It's so sad, because Mari is really wants to study, she wants to become better. But noone wanted to teach her. Tav only was thinking about her education in bed. So who else could help her? No one. And now she is guilty to be so uneducated? So many books in this house, did he ever bothered to give her even one? And now he wants to go away and compensate all the damage. As if she was his prostitute. So sad.
Alegria

Alegria- So true. Mari learned how to kiss well, how to be good in bed, and how to ride a horse like an expert. All things someone actually took the time to teach her how to do. The girl learns quickly.

And our Mari feels sick so often now, so she is pregnant for sure. But our galan don't have enough cells to buy her a test before saying her goodbye para siempre
Alegria

great recap Paloma, I agree with most of the pervious commenters, my chin hit the floor when I saw the truck full of the local SWAT team coming for MC, thankfully she was able to explain things to the chief

also agree that MC is a fast learner and very intelligent just simply uneducated, as soon as she has a chance to learn she'll be like a sponge, she'll be the way smarter one of the couple as OCT has no brain cells at all even a 1/2 too much for him.

I'd wager she'll have good business skills too as soon as she have a chance on her father money and the casino, take that Miguel, and stuff it where the sun doesn't shine!

And in my opinion Ed is muy guapo, even better than Oct but Cathyx I totally agree with you on Cristian de la Fuente, he'd get away with murder in my world especially shirtless:)

The 0 brain cell imbécil being an authority on such things told MC she wasn't pregnant.

Sorry, great recap CeCe, not Paloma this time, my mistake

Yeah, Variopinta I remember that, like he can decide it just by saying, did he use any contraceptions, I don't think so?
and as ignorant as MC is she might not know

Our galan is so galan that he didn't use any contraceptions, because he wanted babies. And I think they worked really hard in this direction. BUY HER A TEST and then leave. What is the problem with this men in novelas?
Alegria

Thanks for the recap. I wonderful the actresses get extra pay for letting that monkey climb all over them. You couldn't, pay me enough. Ick.

Wonderful ...should be ,,wonder if,,.....sorry

Thanks everyone. I took a long nap yesterday and missed the actual episode so I had to go without captions watching it online. Its hard to understand some of these characters so sorry if details are missed. Also being a newbie I am open to any suggestions for future recaps! I tend to be detailed and they're probably tons of grammatical errors since I did not have time to review.

Vivi: I could not understand the convo between Ed and Tav. I didnt understand if he was saying to just cast her aside since Tav doesnt love her or what....

Alegria - I am also in agreement that MC is preggers for sure.

I felt really bad for MC when she was saying she wasn't refined like the kind of woman Octavio likes. And also yesterday when she was saying how no one including him ever gave her nice things as presents. It seemed like a lot of hurt she suppressed over the years. It doesnt help now that she is so self deprecating at times when she calls herself "bruta" and unkempt...etc.

Tav Tav Tav...I am trying not to hate him but he keeps doing stupid things! Like make his brother in charge of MC's new house.

CeCe- The recap was excellent. No need to change anything. Great first recap!

As for the conversations between Ed and Tav, considering how often Tav changes his mind about what he wants to do, it would confuse anyone. But I am pretty sure Ed said Tav can't just abandon MC: 1) with nothing (no money or land); and 2) without divorcing her (leaving her in limbo). But he did want Tav to give her up and leave, since she's not at his level (education and class), he doesn't love her, and he's having so much trouble dealing with her and with life on the ranch.

Since Tav doesn't know his own mind from one moment to the next, anything anyone says sways him.

Oh, forgot to mention, the reason why Miguel went to see $imona was to ask her NOT to give Tav any money if he asks, because he intends to give over land to MC, and that's what he would do with the money. I am really disappointed in $imona because she seems to have a conscience about all of this but she still goes along with Lucia and Miguel or stays quiet.

MC may consider herself bruta, but I like how she knows the good stuff about herself too, like how she answered "I know" when Ed complimented her on her beauty and riding skills. LOL! That was fabulous.

Hmmmm. I think, that Ed said nothing about legal part of their separation. He said to Octavio: it's very good, that you want to build a house for her and give her land, but you should leave her and basta. So I think, that he only wants to take his friend with him to capital. And he wasn't really cared about what Octavio wants to do for Mari. Simply do it quickly. I understood so.
Alegria

Would one of you nice people help. I just don't understand the business intrigues of Maricruz's father and his relationship with Carola and the casino on the Queen Eliizabeth II (?). Is he heavily indebted to the casino?

And is he terminally ill?

Is the bit on TeoB just a side plot?

I pretty sure Ed told him to get a divorce and Tav was very confused by the concept, as if just leaving was going to end his marriage to MC. Someone mentioned divorce first, and it wasn't Tav.

Farmer- The ship is a casino and it is one of many Alejandro (Mari's dad) owns. The others are doing well, but someone recently committed suicide on this boat casino and they had to pay a huge amount of money in fines/liability and now that casino is struggling financially. Carola seems to manage more than just that casino for Alejandro, but she's spending a lot of time in this one to try to get it back afloat (no pun intended).

I think Alejandro's sensitivity about Teo, an older dude, taking in a young, vulnerable poor girl, has to do with his own tragic history with Mari's mom, and also thinking about what his own daughter would be like, since she would be around the same age as the girl Teo took in, Arecely. For now all that stuff is side plot, but once Mari heads there, I'm sure all of that will move to the forefront.

Yes, Ed said about divorce, but only during their first conversation. After that, as far as i remember he suggested to leave her and that was all. I think that Ed use this word only like a synonym of the word leave. I'm not sure that he was thinking about Mari's future.
Alegria

Vivi, thanks a bundle.

BTW, the other day i had a chance to read a Vivi review. It was just great.

You sure have a command of Spanish.

I thought that Eduardo was actually saying complimentary things about Maricruz. But my Spanish is very weak. While I'm watching, I'm scribbling down words in a notebook so that I can look them up later.

I was also distracted by the monkey last night. I think he was tethered by the end of his tail.

Yes, Ed said that she's nice, attractive and so on. But he also said that she's so ignorant so it would be impossible to live with her. So it is better to leave her now. But he also said to Octavio, that deep in his heart he likes her much more then he admits.
Alegria

Well...she is ignorant. But ignorance isn't a permanent state of being. She can learn (we have seen that she can). Stupid, she is not. Although she does make some impetuous/unwise decisions, like shooting her husband!

Octavio also makes impetuous/unwise decisions and his major flaw is arrogance and flakiness. He too can mature and grow. They both have a lot of growing up to do, and it probably is wise that they not be married to each other right now.

Alegria -- I wasnt quiet sure but what I got from the convo was that even though MC is pretty & nice and all she lacks education and is not of Octavio's class. I thought that Ed was eager to separate Tav from MC so they can go back to Mexico city like old times.

I definitely agree with Ed, Tav feels much more than pity from MC even though his actions state otherwise. He is always thinking about her and really wants to do right by her (as he should since he turned her happy world upside down).

Vivi: thanks for clearing up the conversations earlier and for filling in all the business info. I didnt really get into the details of the convo. And I agree they both have a lot of growing up to do. Tav with being more responsible and decisive.
MC needs to chill out a little and not always act on her emotions.

I dont remember who mentioned this but it was so sad when Solita tried to descrive Ewwsebio and MC too distraught with her own problems could not understand. I hope that when MC leaves she takes Solita with her has well.

Cece: Excellent recap and ITA with all your asides, amiga!

Eddie, tho' I had only a nonCC'd version to review this time, was in favor of Tav leaving the "illiterate, illmannered" MC and letting her start a new life with someone like herself, some guy in her own social class who actually has something in common with her besides just her animal-like sensuality and good times in the sheets. Eddie did say that rushing off wouldn't allow him time to give her all the things for her future security he'd promised her. Tav says he'll leave it all to his brother to get done and Ed's already picked up on how little Tav trusts Miguel. Only a dope wouldn't pick up on this dysfunctional family's vibes after last night and Lucia's outburst. I mean, who sets the police on your SIL for taking and riding a horse over a twelve hour period and then returning it willingly after making the point about jealousy where slutty Cousin Ester was concerned?

Ed's a good guy, full of common sense and also a ladies man of sorts, tho' so far a respectable one, despite his conceited, macho, ways. He's way more emotionally mature than Tav--more like the older brother he should have rather than Miguel. I can only imagine what their parents, especially their daddy, must have been like. Tav and Mig both have a bad case of Adult ADDS. They both go from one project to another and never stick it out. We know people like that and when it is extreme, like Miguel's case seems it could be, it may even border on some sort of Bi-polar disorder running in this family.

Alegria:

"But he also said to Octavio, that deep in his heart he likes her much more then he admits." That and the divorce statement from Eduardo I didn't remember. I just remember somebody asking Tav at the table whether he planned on divorcing her and him answering no. It's because, he tells them, that he wants to make sure she inherits his portion of things if anything should happen to him. I agree that if she's supposed to start life over again, she can't exactly, now can she? She will be in limbo, which leads me to believe he wants her all for himself and can't really stand the thought of handing her over to JosA once he's left to start over in Mexico. Selfish to the max --and I remember being really angry with Tav over that one! Talk about your dog in the manger!

On the other hand, she was married under a false name, so the point's moot anyway, isn't it? Je-je. Mig and Lucia will have a hay day when they undoubtedly learn that in the future. I wonder what exactly the notary wrote up.
===
I am certain she only meant to scare him with a warning shot, not to wound him. Otherwise, how could she be sure she wouldn't kill him? She has never used the gun before, she mumbles while searching for it. Right?

Vivi in DC, i think that for Tav and Ed ignorance is a permanent state of being. Not for everybody, but for Mari is. So sad...
Alegria

Jardinera...very insightful about what might actually be the matter with these two brothers. ANd did you notice those big, juicy oranges hanging on the acres of trees. NO wonder the family ranch is in trouble...Nobody works . THose bulls are not going to pick the oranges.......SUsanlynn, who never picked oranges but who has picked a lot of corn and potatoes on the family farm

Susanlynn: Yes I did see all those oranges and wondered who they could have belonged to. Duh!

Hmmm. Orange trees grow like weeds in those climes. Maybe MC should teach Moctavio to pick a few off the ground at least and bring 'em back to the shack every night for the next day's breakfast. I mean how would they even know whose trees they came from, let alone an innocent pet scavaging food.

I also sort of wonder what Useless Ewww does around there besides flick his wick anyway.

and....

Have you ever wondered where MC's family gets what cash they had for Pebbles...er...Solita to buy stuff at the store downtown? They've been to town to buy before MC got hitched and took charity from Tav I am sure. What could Solita have been buying? Soap? Shampoo? How about a recycled dress or two and some undies from the vintage apparel tienda there? Or maybe a new shirt for Gramps or a proper pair of huaraches like he wears?

HI,JArdinera....so good to reconnect with you again, old friend. HOw are you doing ? We have all been focusing on MAricruz's wardrobe (or lack there of), but I'd like to see pobrecita SOlita replace that green cardigan with the holes. ALso, whenever I see MC, I hear Frankie Valli singing "RAgdoll." As for her hair, it looks just like my younger daughter,s ...same color, length, and curl. I, too, have been wondering where SOlita got the coins . SHe's always down by the rio doing laundry. DOes she do other people's, laundry...in the rio ? QUe the hell.

Vivi in DC, i think they get money from grandpa pension.
Alegria

CeCe---I am a BIG novela fan but cannot speak Spanish. I only know a
handful of words. Before I found Caray, Caray! I would ask strangers on the street or in stores if they watched novelas? If they said yes, I would ask them questions about the current series.
You said that you were concerned about the recap---It was great. Take it from a gringo that really appreciates the Caray recappers, you did an excellent job.

Cathyx---Magic dress? LOL

La Paloma---they are being led by the nose or other anatomical parts so far---I say both

Alegria and others---Mari really wants to study, she wants to become better. I'm sure she does and I agree that she is or would be a fast learner. My question is--
Did she ever tell Octavio that? I don't think so. I don't remember her asking him to help her with an education. I don't remember reading that in any of the recaps.

Everyone thinks that Maricruz shot
Octavio but we don't know that. She probably did but all that we saw was the rifle being fired and the horse rearing up. We didn't actually see Tav get hit by the bullet. If he was actually shot, that would prevent him from leaving
at least for a while but wouldn't that land Maricruz in jail? And what would Evil Eyes do when she finds out? I hate to think about that.
the gringo

Alegria- Just now joining today's combo so it was me who asked about the cash. But Jardinera and Susanlynn bring up some good questions. Your pension suggestion is a good one.

That's convo not combo. :)

Ay these phones. Meant to say it wasn't me...

gringo, yes, she asked Octavio to teach her some manners. But from the beginning he decided that Lucia would be a better teacher. Even when she said, that Lucia never teached her, he did nothing. As I said, he probably think, that she will never become a gran dama and her destiny is here in her jacal
Alegria

Alegria---Manners yes she does need to work on that and Evil Eyes
would definitely not be the one to teach her--it should be Octavio but just as important, Mari needs help with reading and writing.
the gringo

YIkes...LUcia as MC's mentor. Let's see...she could teach MC how to be shallow, pompous, elitist, mean, greedy...and where to buy those maxi dresses she's so fond of...real life lessons.

Didn't Oct the imbécil fall off the horse?

Haven't commented on this TN. Too busy over at the mess that is QBA. Anyhoo I just HAD to comment at how excited I was to see my Rodolfo *sigh* from AB has been reincarnated as Eduardo. Ay Papi, my heart's all a-flutter. Guau

Paquita: LOL! The really great thing that gets me by over there is the music and the star quality singing performances by PM and DG.

Eduardo looks fantabulous, especially in deep blue. BTW he looks good enough to put in my picnic basket.
======

I do remember that MC said Pffft one day when Tav asked hadn't Lucia taught her how to behave at the manse and he realized that was no longer "operative".

Jardinera: Great explanations....MC blatantly said that Lucia taught her nada. The least Tav could have done was find someone else (Like Simona) since he is so impatient and temperamental to do it himself.
----------------------------------

It will be interesting to find out on Monday if MC really shot Tav or just tried to scare him off the horse. Didnt see the advances but I dont think he will be too happy if he found out MC was behind all this.

I haven't watching full episodes for a while now has that horrible - awful mud-necklace scene what is in the opening credits been shown already?

Irisz- No, we haven't seen that scene yet.

CeCe, Thanks for the marvelous recap. Me too!….as others have mentioned, I like the amusing short of it, but loved the detailed looongg of it! And, I think your descriptive powers are mighty:

"she sassily exits back to her hut" Perfect.
"Lucia plasters a creepy smile on her face" Right on target.

I haven't had a chance to comment thru this week but I have enjoyed each and every recap. So far, I'm liking this telenovela lots and have little to complain about.

All 3 of MC's dresses are fine by me. I think she is pretty cute in them and I am a big fan of her long hair (and extensions?).

Though 2 doggies in this TN would be great, I would hate to see them in the role of murderers. Corgis would be perfect, they could keep herding Lucia and Ester back into their bedrooms.

I'm not having quite the problem with Octavio that others are having. Throughout time people have married for the wrong reasons. Marrying to bother relatives (usually parents) or for sex or thinking you can fit a person into your personal vision of who they should be is not uncommon. Octavio is just lazy and clueless and judging by Miguel I think it may be genetic problem. Octavio is not a bad person and all his back and forth angst is very real given that he knows he screwed up. Though Octavio is the jerk in this relationship, he didn't mean to be. And heck, his "settlement offer" has been pretty generous for a few months (weeks?) of marriage.

Octavio has been lazy about the education of his new bride but the lackadaisical gene runs in MC's family as well. Abuelo has been pretty careless about improving his nieta's situation and MC may have asked Octavio to teach her but she never pushed him to do so or asked for advice from Santa.

I think everyone must be a lot better at charades than me! To expect MariCruz to figure out that Solita was dreaming about Eewsebio is quite a stretch to me. I knew exactly what she was thinking and at first I thought she was rubbing her face like she was washing it as she did after the rape. The whip thing was maybe a little more defining, but geez, to figure that out in the middle of the night with one attempt?

Variopinta, "Octavio is just now realizing he can't build the house because he doesn't have money?" That was a mystery to me as well. Maybe it was a brain cell problem, maybe he thought he was going to borrow the money from Simona and the scene of her loan refusal was cut.

I loved the scene of MC sashaying back to hut after the horse ride and then pretending happiness in front of Jose Antonio. Definitely better that her walking up and down the hills dirty and bedraggled.

Jose Antonio is very sweet. Maybe he can find out about sign language, teach it to Solita and then the two of them can fall in love.

Susanlynn, " extra pay for letting that monkey climb all over them. You couldn't, pay me enough. Ick." To each his own, I would regard it as a job perk! LOL!

Farmer, It would have been easier to understand that Alejandro owned the ship if the camera hadn't so prominently showed us this was the Queen Elizabeth ship owned by Cunard.

I think both Octavio and MariCruz share the proclivity toward impulsiveness. Grabbing a gun and shooting at there husband. Wow, I wondering QTH was she thinking? Can't wait to see.

CeCe:

Thanks so much for this fab recap. I like your style.

About MariCruz and that gun. I got the distinct impression that the gun accidently went off. She wasn't aiming it seems to me and when she cocked that rifle her finger was too close or right on the trigger and it went off. She was shocked not just by the kickback, but that it went off. The poor girl. I hope the shot went wide and didn't hurt the horse or Tav.

I can't stand to look at Lucia either. Her and Ester make me sick. Miguel is just too stupid for words and I agree that Tav is stupid for leaving any future housing in Miguel's hands for MariCruz.

When Solita was showing Maricruz with her hands that she had that nightmare about Ewww-sebio I got it right away especially about the whippy thingy, but I too think Maricruz is too wrapped up in her own problems to get it.

Thanks again CeCe for this fab recap.

CeCe,

I apologize for arriving so late to the discussion. Clearly your first recap is a huge success. Great job at capturing the details as well as the spirit of this. What a great line:

"...seriously…these folks have some strange family dynamics..."

Indeed.

So Grampa may have a pension? Maybe he's a retired exec from Pemex.

I wonder why Alejandro doesn't just take a rode trip. I'll bet that Maricruz, Grampa, and Solita don't live more than a couple of miles from where they were when he last saw them. Hasn't Ramiro been getting his letters all this time?

Carlos

@CorgiMom (Barbara): Nope, no extensions. That is Ana Brenda's own hair and she is known for having gorgeous hair, despite how it looks on MC. In fact, she is an official spokesperson for Pantene.

Carlos....You know the answer to your last question, amigo. ALe doesn't just take a road trip because......wait for it....this is telenovela and that makes too much sense and would be too easy. THat is the usual answer to all the nonsensical stuff that happens in the wonderful world that we have all wandered into when Eric fell down the rabbit hole .

ERic...who is ERic. And why is this Ipad changing the words I type and changing small case letters to capitals and SPanish words to English. ......susanlynn, , the technophobe

Eric was supposed to be ....we all....

Thanks Carlos, Corgimom and Madelaine! I was really nervous about recapping but you all are great! Thanks for making me feel so welcome.
---------------------
CorgiMom: Jose Antonio and Solita - wouldnt have thought of that pairing but I like it. Someone kind needs to dispel the evilness of Eewsebio.

Carlos: I was wondering the same thing. Does he not have their address.

Susanlynn: ITA however why did I get the feeling that when he take that airplane right to settle business matters with that Cruise ship he was knocking on death's door. Maybe it was just me...

Clearly need to spell check....I meant when he took the airplane ride to the ship

CeCe:

Oh, I don't want the Voice to die yet ; ( I want him to meet his daughter and start her makeover and her education so she can go stick to those horrible people!

About Christian de la Fuente, did some of you never see Corazon Salvaje 2009? He was nice in the beginning and then a drunk and a horrid person till just before the end. He can bring the nasty!

Maybe when Alejandro sees MC he will all of a sudden get better. You know, the power of love, and all that.

cathyx,

Or have an infarct when he sees the cultured young woman she has grown up to become.

Carlos

Carlos, you're BAD!!

I think Lucia will have the infarct when first meet with MC 2.0 new and improved .)

Can she do the boiled egg eyes, like it's gonna pop out any minute? I did not see this actress in anything as yet, but I already hate her in this character, she's doing a good job of it.

Irisz- Here is Elizabeth Alvarez (Lucia) in her most recent telenovela, playing a rather accident prone heroine in the comedy Amorcito Corazon:

Isabel y Fernando1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuHlg5Ary4M

Isabel y Fernando2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYcAklS2W_A

Carlos, Too Funny!!! Lol...I cant wait to see their reactions (especially his) when they first meet.

Cathyx: I have learned never to underestimate those so called powers when watching Tns....they can do and transcend almost anything.

Thanks Vivi for those links. Part 1 certainly clears up any questions we may have had about her knees.

Carlos

Nice to see Elizabeth Alvarez being adorable. She's altogether too believable as the evil Snow White Queen in this story.

Carlos- Yes. And I'm sure you rewatched that scene, just to get an accurate assessment of Elizabeth's knees. ;-)

Maybe we all figured out exactly who it was that Solita was describing because we ARE WATCHING THE NOVELA? lol

I like the idea of Solita ending up with JA.

Yes!! I've been rooting for a Solita/JA pairing since day 1!!! They would be so sweet together, and he would take good care of each other :)

Barbara/CorgiMom, I have to agree with you about Octavio. I'm not really on the hate-wagon either... as ignorant as some of his decisions are, he really cares about her (even though he said he only felt pity for her, which I don't believe) and wants her taken care of. His ignorance seems to have so much to do with how he was raised (I mean, look at his brother! ) and the culture he was surrounded by. I'm thinking he'll grow a lot throughout the course of the story, but I don't think he's as bad as everyone else thinks he is. Selfish, sure. An idiot for trusting his brother, yes. But he still has his good points in my opinion!
