CI: The Stork Cometh

Capítulo 42

Jose Antonio manages to pull Miguel off Eusebio before he strangles him to death (bummer!) and passes onto true villano status.  He tells JA to drag Ewwwsebio out of there; he screams at Ewww to get the hell off his ranch. Vamoose! (He’s not getting any references or severance pay? Va-mono-o-o-s!)

Maricruz has fainted, but not to worry cuz there was a doctor in the house…er…on the plane after all.  Eduardo comes through to the passenger cabin of the plane.  He does a rubbernecker special when he suddenly recognizes their preggers emergency passenger to be none other than Maricruz 3.0.  Cara de caray, caray! de Eddy.  He radios for an ambulance to be waiting when they land [aterrizar].

Once Ewwie’s done vamoosed, Miguel asks if JA thinks anybody heard what they were yelling about.  JA says he didn’t and so he’s certain nobody else did either.  Miguel says good, it’s just as well.  No need for him or anybody else to know what they argued about.  JosA needs to forget the incident, except that he’s got to find him later in the day when Miguel sends him off with the last of what’s owed Ewww.  JosA can’t believe Ewws been canned. (Time for JosA to get the big promotion to capitaz anyway.) “—Yes, he’s fired!  Let him find work somewhere else!  I don’t wan’t him here even to get paid; and don’t you go defending him, either!  I forbid it!”

JA immediately tells Santa what happened with Ewwwsebio and that Miguel ran him off and refuses to have anything further to do with him.  “—If he hadn’t seen me he’d have killed him sure!”  Santa surmises that Ewwwie must have been threatening to tell what he knew in public [sacar sus trapitos al sol=air his dirty laundry in public].  “—He must know something about what they did to Maricruz!”  She doesn’t think Miguel had anything to do with Ramiro’s death, tho’ since he’s never been more than Lucia’s apron string [also mandilon=coward/ a pinafore dress, or overalls].  “--Shame that, since he’ll have to pay the same as she when judgment day comes ‘round.” It’s great that he got kicked off the ranch, she tells JosA, cuz now he’ll be so irate that he’ll open his big mouth to somebody.  She rubs her hands in anticipation.

MariAle regains consciousness and is told by the stewardess that she’s about to give birth.  MA groans at the news.  She spies Eddy and grabs him by the collar, calls him by name, and begs him not to tell a soul on Isla Dorada that she’s having a baby; he is to promise her that he’ll keep her secret especially from his pilot friend.  (Ok. Edster.  Does this give you a clue at least that something’s fishy about this MC 3.0 chick?)  Eddy agrees and tells her she’ll have her child in the safety of the clinic as they’ll be landing in only a few minutes.  Once she’s left alone, MC thinks bitterly to herself that she and her baby are only a few steps away from “him” and yet she’s left alone to confront the world.  She’ll get even with Octavio and all the Narvaez family if it’s the last thing she ever does!

The plane lands and Eddy tells Octavio he’ll handle checking on the preggers passenger who’s being whisked off the plane into an ambulance.  “—What’s the big interest in this passenger?” (Disgusted Viewerville notes Tav’s apparently too self-absorbed to give a crap about the welfare of one of his passengers.)  Eddy keeps Tav clueless just like he’d promised. “—It’s our obligation to follow through.  Don’t worry, you don’t know her anyway.”

Maricruz gives birth to a mini-me and is thrilled at the miniature in her arms.  (Want to bet she names her for her dear dead mama, Lupita?  That should give Don Ale a huge hint which he’s sure to overlook.)

Eddy mentions to Tav that he sent their passenger flowers.  Tav, his nose in the paper (probably the funnies since that’s about as intellectual as he seems to get) asks why. “--You’re not her husband.”  (How about it was just the humane thing to do, moron?)  Eddy thinks to himself, oh if you only knew, Octavio.   “--Naw, I don’t think she has a husband.”  “—The worse for her, huh?”  “--Don’t you think it’s sad to give birth and feel all alone in the world?”  Tav laughs and says don’t know cuz "I’ve never had a kid and I’ve never felt lonely!”  Even Eddy has a hard time seeing the humor in that one.  He winces.  “— What a fool!  She almost had that child on the plane!”  They kibbitz about whether it was a girl or a boy and Eddy needing to visit her at the hospital.  “—Maybe she’ll adopt you as its papa!  Better still tell Aracely about her!”  No, says Eddy, the woman made me promise not to tell anybody on Isla Dorada that she was having a baby.”  Cara de clueless de Tav.

Maricruz doesn’t register a father for Mini-cruz.

Oblivio asks Eddy if the passenger was a single mother then.  No, says Eddy, I don’t think so, but she was so intent on making me promise not to tell anybody about the baby.  “--Why is it a secret?” Can Tav take advantage of their friendship and Eddy can tell him?  Oh, no, says Eddy, you least of all!  Who knows, maybe one day you’ll find out if it’s convenient, or maybe you’ll find out from the gal herself.  “—She herself?”  Cara de confused de Octavio.  Eddy says sorry, I can’t say anything more and laughs.  “—I gave my word.”

Back in her hospital bed Maricruz thinks about how lonely she is and how she’d always thought when her first child came she’d be filled with happiness.  As it is, she’s got to get back to work right away and the plan is to make as much money as possible for her and the Minicruz.  “—Because money is power!”  Making money is only part of the plan.  Revenge is the other part.

MC hires a live in nanny that the maternity ward nurse recommends to her.

Apparently the governor’s two adult children are arguing about whether to go to Isla Dorada and gamble.  Kid brother doesn’t want to because he’s certain they’ll be recognized and it will cause a scandal.  Big sis is the more daring of the two and she keeps pushing for it.  I think Big Bro gives in, tho’ he’s been cut off financially by Daddy.

Raiza and Carola plan to have their bum of a cousin, Gerardo, return to the casino to hit on MA in hopes of having her fall madly in love with him and get her off the island and out of their way once and for all.  (Good luck with that.  “Cuz” wasn’t much of a looker and sure didn’t offer much in the way of charm or animal magnetism to this part of Viewerville, but then consider the family gene pool.  I mean, we are talking Canseco material here.)

Maricruz receives a surprise bouquet of flowers from the pilot and copilot of the flight crew.  She worries whether Eddy really did tell Octavio about her and the baby or not.

Carola phones Raiza with the news that she’s agreed to pay Gerardo 100,000 pesos (I think) to sweep La Mendoza off her feet.  Teobaldo sees Gerry come out of the office door

Mohamed informs Karim that MariAle hasn’t returned to the island yet.  Karim is certain she’ll be back because she told him the casino means something to her.  Mohammed tries to convince him to return home and to get involved with other women so as to forget her.  He refuses to concede defeat and tells Mohamed that he is not about to return home to his palace in Arabia until he finishes his business with Maria Alejandra.

Teo confirms Gerardo is back and working for Carola.  Carola and he grouse at each other and Carola tells him she found out that MA is Don Ale’s daughter.  So, he says, I already knew that!  Carola gets pissed and complains he’s being disloyal to her, especially when he didn’t tell her what he knew about MA.   He tells Caro she doesn’t deserve his loyalty and as for La Mendoza, it was up to her when she decided to give Carola the news.

Mohammed devises a plan to untie Karim from his obsession with MariAle.

Carola and Raiza call Don Alejandro and learn he’s flying to Isla Dorada the next week.  He asks if his protégé has arrived yet and they tell him no one there has heard from her yet.  He makes Carola promise not to give her any further work at the casino.  Caro hangs up and gives her sis the big news.

Eddy mentions to Tav in passing that he sent flowers to their emergency passenger who’d given birth, just as a follow up and said on the note that they were from the both of them.  Tav is ticked that he put it from both of them and didn’t even bother to discuss it with him.  Eddy says it was the cavalier thing to do.  Tav snarls back that the last thing he needs or wants is to be involved with a pregnant woman or one with a kid.  “—Ah, you would if you knew her.  She is a beautiful woman.”

Teobaldo loses it when he happens to see Aracely and Eddy in a major lip-lock and goes berserk.  He knocks Eddy on his back, starts pelting him with his fists and demands to know Eddy’s intentions.  Eventually he gives Eddy a chance to come up for air and to answer.  Joe Cool pilot gets tongue-tied having to finally admit to Aracely that he’s not really prepared to marry her.  “—Not ever?”  “—Not by force, I’m not! …No.”  He storms off and Aracely, humiliated to tears, is left to cry on adopted Big Bro Teo’s shoulder.

Ewww sneaks back onto the ranch for a spit-swapping—make that tongue-swallowing--session with Ofelia.  He tells her to get word to Sra. Lucia that he wants to talk to her and pronto.  When Luciafer shows up at the stables he threatens her with telling the police all he knows if she doesn’t get him his job back by tomorrow.  None of it is jail bait material she tells him.  In fact whatever he comes up with, she sneers, it’s going to be her word against his and who do you think people will believe?  He says he is fine with going to jail provided she—or the Narvaez’s good name--is destroyed at the same time.  And don’t even think of trying to shoot him in the back, because if she tries and misses, he’ll be on her like white on rice and she’ll never see him coming.

We learn that the young live-in nanny has to teach Maricruz how to feed, change, and bathe the Mini-cruz.  No problema, says Live-in Nanny.  (First rule: Get a burping towel and dig out one of your old raggy dresses  from Jacal days to wear.  You definitely don’t want to do any of that mothering stuff in those designer duds you’ve gotten used to.)

Eddy tells Tav about his run in with Quasimoto and that he’s upset that it upset Aracely so much.  Tav tells him to get involved with somebody else, that there are more than enough women there to have a good time with.  In fact, he’s got his play-boy on and admits with a grin that he hardly even thinks about Maricruz at all anymore.  (Greeeaaaat.  How about giving her her freedom back then and divorcing her so she can get on with her life, you slug!)  Eddy says he’s going to take Tav’s advice.  “—Let’s par-ta-a-a-a-ayyyyy!”

A week or ten days or so later, MC is ready to head back to begin working at the casino. (Viewerville notes and envies her ability to fit back into her slinky evening gowns so soon after giving birth.  Not even a single sit-up needed to get that waistline back.  Caray, caray!)  She tells Nanny that she won’t be home till 4AM.  Nanny suspects the worst, but MariAle explains that she works at the casino as a hostess.  Ciao!

MariAle is back on track and ready to do some damage tonight.  She gets to the boat and is stopped by Raiza who partakes in a bit of witless trash talk with MariAle before casually informing her that Carola won’t give her her old job back.  MariAle says we’ll see about that girlfriend.  Outta my way!

MA gets in Carola’s face and says she wants to see her books--the second set of books, the real thing—and not the ones Carola’s been cooking.   Carola is like why should I deal with anybody than Don Alejandro and since he’s coming here next week, I’ll deal with him and not you!  Cara de whadyajessay? de MariAle.

Thank you for the recap, Jardiniera, it sounds like it was a great episode, I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Sorry to say this, but MC is not that great of a mother! New mothers want to bond with their babies, not go to work or whatever she calls what she's doing at the Casino a few days after giving birth. Who wants to bet we'll only get to see her baby when it fits the plot (the almost run ins with daddy Octa) and MC will go about her days (or nights) as usual, fighting with Carola to save her precious Casino (couldn't it be a charity of some sort?)

Has she even seen her dad or her sister yet? Ah, well, at least now she won't have to worry about someone noticing her belly (and btw, sometimes women do lose all the baby weight in a week or so, this actually happened to a friend of mine - I saw her the day she gave birth, she was still pretty round and a week later she was exactly like before she got pregnant - lucky girl!)

Tav is a total shmuck, not even caring about his passanger's well being - but I think this is writtenlike this because the audience is supposed to be on the edge of their seats while he is all casual about it, but it's not working for me.
I am a little surprised that Ed hasn't told him the truth, yet; if it were my best friend, I would make no promises to no pregnant lady and I would surely share this piece of info... more plot driven mess, if you ask me.

As for baby names:
I like Minicruz best :))
but I don't think that's an option, so maybe Lupita (good choice, Jardi), Octavia, Alejandra...

And thinking of all these girl names, I think I know how they chose Solita's... since she is always alone (sola) in her own world, the name fits her very well.

Looked forward to your recap this morning Jardinera since this was one crazy episode. Definitely worth the wait.

I'm with Adriana on MC and her bonding with the baby. Figured she wouldn't really know what to do, but the fact she's back at work and strutting her sexy stuff maybe days after birth...oh these writers. There's being a working mother, which could be cool if they showed it correctly, but I think we will see someone more obsessed with her revenge and the baby will be a prop during those infuriating "talk to the camera and rant" moments. And I really wish they would tone down the dialog so we don't have to see MC argue with someone in every scene. Someone needs to tell her about the "kill them with kindness" way of doing things.

So she has a girl and Lucia had a boy--no baby swap plot available there thank goodness. That leaves poor Solita. SO help me she has a boy and I'll scream cause then we know where that might lead.

I honestly think the writers pushed the carefree bachelor side of Tav harder than usual last night on purpose as well. In a heartbeat, he's gone from guilt ridden to Who Cares--let's party. c'mon.

I almost had to side with Ed last night - why does kissing a girl immediately translate to "ok, I'm committing to marriage". There's something called dating in the real world. Not everyone falls in love at first sight with someone and marries them. They will probably still wind up together though.

New characters - heck we've got too many right now that we don't get a straight story on.

Daisynjay

Jardinera- You got quite the episode yesterday, and you did it justice. Gracias.

Ed seems to be playing mind games with both Tav and MC 3.0. He keeps hinting around to Tav (in a way that makes me think Ed might be more sure MC 3.0 is really MC 1.0); and he wrote on the card that the flowers were from both pilots, thereby freaking MC out.

I couldn't believe how many new characters they threw at us last night, when they haven't even fully developed the characters they have on hand: the governor’s daughter and son; the nanny; cousin Gerry; the Muslim women Mohamed engaged to help in his "plan"; and the cutest of all, MiniCruz. So adorable.

How can MC tear herself away to go spend her precious time fighting with the Conseco sisters?

I wonder if Aracely knows Ed's last name yet? :) And yet, she still seems all shocked, hurt and disappointed when he said to Teo that they are just friends (with benefits), and NOT novios. I agree that there shouldn't be any big deal about them just casually dating. But silly Aracely does expect more (noviazgo and marriage), so it's best she not date him at all if she can't accept that.

Things back at the ranch have gotten quite interesting, now that Ewsebio is a loose cannon. What will Luciafer do? Maybe she'll have to do her dirty work herself this time and murder him? One can hope.

Great recap. Recapper good.

Agree. Now after MC has vowed to avenge for the 398 time new characters pop up to get in the way.

If only our ranch buddies were pilots, MC could go fight her battles anywhere without any plot problems.

R we done with the Casino?

Hopefully, Don Ale won't take a plane flow by Oblivio cause he might not make it.

Marvelous recap, Jardinera.

Well, I hope viewers were at least pleasantly surprised that Minicruz was a girl not the usual boy...and also that they used a tiny baby that actually looks like a premature newborn. Oh, did anyone notice that Univision grayed-out the baby's bottom when she was first handed to MariAle in the delivery room? Televisa didn't do it, so the big joke on Twitter after this episode aired in Mexico was that the baby could already claim a nude scene on her acting resume. Poor baby.

Uni has a heightened sense of what is "indecent", and regularly censors things that were perfectly fine for the Mexican audience. Don't get us started on the stuff they blur, bleep and cut on a regular basis!

We should do an inventory of tn babies born by the grand final to see how many are boys and how many are girls. I think there are more girls than we are remembering. In this case, the writers are using the parallels that they love so much. Lolita kept her baby girl away from her father, and MC is repeating history.

I also don't see how a baby switch can happen between Luciafer's baby and Solita's if it's a boy, because her baby would be months younger. Who would be fooled by that? Certainly not Miguel who stares into his baby's face for hours at a time, contemplating the evil woman he mated with.

That's Lupita, auto-corrected to Lolita.

Thanks, y'all. Thanks for taking time to read it. : )

Adreana:

"if it were my best friend, I would make no promises to no pregnant lady and I would surely share this piece of info".

That could be, but Eddy IMHO has more common sense, and an innate sense of survival as well as one of gallantry that prevents him from doing anything more than hinting around and first to get a feel for Tav's sensibilities where this touchy topic is concerned. He made a promise because he finally felt pity. Where as before it might have been for selfish reasons he'd keep Tav away from MC 1.0, now he's being noble and treading on eggshells here for MC 3.0 since he realizes there's a good possibility she may be MC 1.0 miraculously transformed--or a possible twin, especially if he did the birthday math. He doesn't know if it's really his place to blab as the galán's code is "discretion is the better part of valor".

DaisynJay:

ITA, I thought she'd want to spend a good six weeks bonding with Minicruz but she's on a holy mission from the telenovela gods to save her inheritance for herself and her new baby. She seemed to be well on her way in the hospital to bonding, but hey, we should look on the bright side: at least she didn't have to go back to working in a field 2 hours later like the serfs and slaves of old. As for "There's something called dating in the real world. Not everyone falls in love at first sight with someone and marries them." Eddy, ITA and perhaps this is something cultural that is necessarily 'lost in translation' for us north of the border.
==============

Vivi: "I wonder if Aracely knows Ed's last name yet?" LOL! Good question and I'm betting nope. I'm starting to wonder if Aracely is somewhat mentally handicapped the same way Teo is physically.

Thanks Jardinera marvelous recap!

Well, finally it's a girl! And it is actually looks like a newborn and a small one at that, like it is really born prematurely.

Tav is upset about putting his name on a well wishing card?? QUE??!
It's just a common courtesy, hombre!
Let's see how long Eddy boy is able to keep his mouth shut.

I wasn't surprised with the instuctions for the caring of the baby mostly everybody learns it the first time around.
But you nailed it Jardinera with the clothes you want to wear for the do. And let's hope she doesn't have a reflux, in that case I strongly suggest the oldest rag she has and all the luck to keep the baby completely straight, not the tiniest movement, for a half an hour after every feeding.

What an interesing tidbit Latina, why do they have to censure a babys private parts?
I'ts not like it's porn or something.. who thinks a babys bare bottom offensive?? - unless they are using a boy child to play the baby girl.. :-)

It wasn't the bare bottom. It was a full frontal...and most definitely a girl!!!!

well, even in that case still don't think it's offensive

Irisz- No one understands Univision's logic for censorship. It was not censored in the original broadcast and likely not when it was aired in other countries either.

Thanks for the recap!

Few thoughts:
1. JA needs to get himself a girl. Much too hot to be so lonely. Araceli would be perfect.
2. Disappointed that the writers have let Tav forget the guilt he should be unable to bear.
3. MA is so focused on vengeance that she is blind to the gifts she has.
4. I was so distracted by the 2 new characters of the governor's kids that I thought my dvr had jumped to another station!
5. I never, ever, ever want to see Ewwsebio and Awfelia make out. I almost had to spit out my dinner. I actually felt bad for the actress having to kiss him. Ugh!

Thanks a lot for the recap.
It's one of my favorite episodes, because my little baby was born. I hope its not a spoiler to say, that I'm a great fan of this girl. She is an excellent little actress. That scene in hospital room with AB and baby in her arms was marvelous. They have great chemistry together.
Alegria

Wow, great job, Jardinera. How neat that you got to introduce all the new characters for us.

Maricruz is certainly embracing motherhood like the rich entitled princess she has become. Maybe she should hook up with Karim after all.

I rather liked the way that Eddy handled things although he was a bit coy about it with Octavio. I do think that he believes that Maria Alejandra is Maricruz.

Poor Lucia, she chose her accomplice badly. Eusebio is now a loose end who is a loose cannon with loose lips. Inspector Suarez should sit him down, buy him a bottle, and listen.

Carlos

Hi Jardinera. Great recap with your snappy sassy humor. I recognized that it was you right away. Your style is wonderfully unique.

A belated thanks to all the recappers last week and earlier this week...haven't been able to watch or even spend much time catching up on the action.

But rest assured I appreciate all the wonderful work you do. Writing these recaps takes a lot of time and effort, especially when they're as skilled and sharp as the ones you turn out.

Tks Jar
Oct is even more of a brain challenged jerk that usual. Ed is showing his humane side. Interesting though that pilots send flowers.

A kiss means you are committed to marriage ¡Qué! No time to get to know you, not even your last name or whether you are married!?

Baby bottoms are obscene!? I guess Televisa really thinks the US is perverted.

Alejandro & Solita don't even know about the baby, this is the craziest story line. Mrs Mejia needs to stop smoking the funny stuff.

Ah, yes; Oblivio shows his immaturity once again.

Maricruz needs him like she needs a hole in the head. She needs a DNA test to show Don Alejandro she is his daughter.

Maybe in this case, Univision is just trying to avoid inadvertent problems with the very strict US child pornography laws.

Carlos

Carlos
Is that a mint julep left over from the Derby?

Variopinta, that is indeed a mint julep. I have a pot of mint originally from Kentucky growing on my patio in red dirt that Darla, my receptionist, brought back Kentucky a couple of years ago. Making a proper mint julep is something of a solemn ritual.

Carlos

Jardinera thanks for your recap. Though I'm a bit sad MC didn't bond with her daughter more, the writers continue to develop these characters poorly and inconsistently.

At this point Tav is winning the TN galan Darwin award and his insensitivity is a bit over the top (what happened to all that guilt).

Though Teo trying to pressure Eddy into marriage was a bit much, we all know Ed is a wham-bam type of guy and Arecely needs someone like JA.

It looks like the Stork Goeth as well. Mama MA? Give me a break. Will be back later.

What I am enjoying so much about this telenovela aside from the revenge theme is its incredible pace. Keeps it interesting.

Jardinera, thanks for the recap!

Jarifa

@Alegria - I second your comment about the baby girl: "I hope its not a spoiler to say, that I'm a great fan of this girl. She is an excellent little actress. That scene in hospital room with AB and baby in her arms was marvelous. They have great chemistry."

Yes they do!!! And since you already mentioned their great chemistry, I would like to add that I'm a bit shocked that MC/MA's mothering skills are already being questioned when we've barely watched the episode where the baby was born. Be patient, everyone. We need to remember that this is a LONG novela, not a 2-hour movie.

Oh, and by "mothering skills", I was referring to her ability to bond with the baby, not to feed and burp her, since MC/MA definitely needs training in that area.

Jardinera:

Thanks so much for this marvelous recap. Everything I wanted to say has been said. I too like the Mini-Cruz nickname for MA's bebe, lol.

Carviville: Love the list! I was right there with you thinking my vcr or the cable provider had jumped to a different channel, not to mention also feeling a week stomach when seeing Awfelia and Ewwwie sucking face like that.

Irisz79/LatinaMD/Variopinta: I didn’t catch the blurred bottom myself. Could have been that the CC covered my view. Don’t know that a naked baby would count as porn myself, either, but better to play it safe than sorry.

Alegria: nope, not a spoiler that I can determine. : > ))

“Eusebio is now a loose end who is a loose cannon with loose lips.” I couldn’t have expressed it any better. I would only add that ITA he now is a clear and present danger to the bitch who’s got a screw or two loose.

JudyB.Madelaine: always nifty when you jump on line, amigas!

Jarifa: ITA and I always enjoy a fast paced telenovela like Pasion and Querida Enemiga was. We move so quickly to the next storyline that we hardly have time to gritch about the beanie-activating scenes.

UrbanA: Oblivio was in top form last night, ITA. That boy's going to have one hell of a lot of 'splainin' to do. I wouldn't mind seeing MC end up with with a comparable hunk, somebody other than Eduardo, certainly.

Karen: interestingly, I get the feeling we're watching cut-outs or paper dolls interact myself!

Anita: How are the B.C. mountains?

Jardinera--WoW what an episode to recap. A birth, menaces, hopeless kisses, new faces, new plots, old secrets, old plots.

You all have covered the action in your comments well.

I AM *shocked* that:
1. The storm during the flight faded into nothing as soon as there was a medical emergency on board.
2. MA never called Don Ale (or at least Tobias) that she "has given light," or even asked how Solita and the dear Don are doing.
3. Two weeks? Really? For a preemie, they gave her "de alta" in only a couple of days (yes, she looked pretty healthy and her eyes were open wide and looking away from MA-MA).
4. MC/MA seemed ready to go back to "work" after just days. I think Don Ale would have been beside himself not knowing where she was for two weeks. OTOH, there must be a phone in her apt (the same one as before), so why don't we know if he tried to call.
5. The Con-sister chose a sleazy looking bait for MA. After Octavio, he'd have to be better-looking than that.
6. The baby is as yet unnamed.
7. Euwwsebio would actually contemplate going to jail for anyone for altruistic reasons (no alcohol in jail).
8. In one fell swoop, Oct & Ed ruined my bromance theory--they weren't dressed alike. One in bermudas and checkered shirt and the other in white shirt and long pants.
9. Carlos actually has Tennessee dirt to grow his mint in. (I'm growing mine in good old Maryland clay and they make delicious Mojitos.)

New people! They should make things interesting. And nice to see that the gov's daughter, Doris (I think, formerly Dani of LQNPA) has a normal voice and isn't nearly as squeeky.

I asked my dad (a pilot) about what they'd really do in the birth-on-a-plane situation. He said first he'd let the co-pilot take control so he could throw up. Then they would definitely not leave the cockpit, which is probably part security reasons and part ewwwwww gross reasons. He also said that they have minimal first aid, just enough so they don't hurt themselves on a defibrilator, but the flight attendants are trained since they're the ones dealing with the passengers. (I don't think pilots actually like the passengers). But at least we know that real pilots wouldn't be any more helpful that Eddie was!

Did she not name the baby yet, or just not tell us?

Kelly

Jardinera, I forgot to commend you on your commentary about the Con-sister's cousin. In general we track with male pulchritude and this new guy isn't even cute; yes Anita I too was shocked. All of our current young men look better (and some of the older ones too). Moreover, new guy clearly thinks too highly of himself as well as he's not even rich

Kelly thanks for the update on real pilots. LOL you don't think they like passengers, ha.

Thank you Jardiniera, loved the show, loved the recap.
You had some great lines like---Tav
his nose in the paper, probably the
funnies since that's about as intellectual as he seems to get.
And---"Cuz" wasn't much of a looker
and sure didn't offer much in the way of charm or animal magnetism to this part of viewville, but then consider the family gene pool. I mean, we are talking Conseco material here. Ouch!
Also your line about no mothering in designer duds was right on. LOL
Not even a single sit-up needed to get that waistline back? answer--Super Mari.

By the way, I saw a Maricruz Magowan on the news this morning. I paid attention because I like the name Maricruz and have never seen it or heard of it before this novela.

The babies name? I vote for Octavia

Variopinta---Mrs. Mejia needs to stop smoking the funny stuff. LOL

Karen---The TN Galan Darwin Awards
Karen---Yes, Ed is a wham bam thank you mam kind of a guy. That's for sure. When is he going to get serious and settle down?

EWWWWWWW--Awful-felia and EWW-sebio
lips to lips, I can't take much of that. Is Mrs. Mejia trying to torture us?

Emeraldrose---The robot drives me crazy also--It's often impossible to read.
the gringo

thanks,Jardinera. I had company last night for dinner, so I missed this episode. looks like I missed a lot. so..Msri gives birth and just keeps rolling along on the vengeance train...odd.

Carlos, I love mint , and I can be very solemn. Please mail me a mint julep ...COD..ASAP. It is hot here, and I could use a nice, icy beverage...I also like mojitos. my daughter's Cuban friend Rene makes delicious ones.

Anita - the mention of a Mojito makes my mouth water. The Bellagio in Las Vegas makes a fabulous Mojito.

Carlos - are Mojitos a drink you make?

Back to the recap, wonderful as always, so fun to read and then enjoy the posts. A real treat every day

When they suddenly introduced the governor's daughter and son, I thought that perhaps the blonde brat would become involved with Octavio. Not a spoiler, just a guess. Maricruz needs to have some competition and we know Tav is going "partying."

Thanks for the recap jardinera!

To me it seemed like tav and ed kind of switched a little bit of their personalities last night. Who ever thought that ed would be the more sensitive of the two???

The thing that astonished me the most was not telling don ale, tobias, or solita about giving birth! Unless they did it off screen...

I am really enjoying this tn, but still wish the writers had smoother storylines and less plotholes. But AB does bring a lot to this novela, and DA is just such a hottie.

Susanlynn,

unfortunately mint juleps don't sip well, but II found this demonstration of the making of a mint julep on youtube. The way this guy does it is very close to the way I make mine, even crushing the ice in a canvas bag. I'm a bit gentler with my mint. Even if one doesn't drink, watching and listening to this guy is almost as relaxing as actually drinking a mint julep.

emeraldrose, I've never had a mojito but I've got the stuff to make it with and will do so this weekend... I guess Kentucky mint will work OK.

Carlos

Gringo: I haven't heard Maricruz around here in Fl, either, tho' I should think there are plenty and that I just haven't met one of them yet. My only exotic moniker experience to date is Marisol.

I vote for Lupita Alejandra when the Minicruz is baptized.
=============

Susanlynn: This link is the official uvideos site which makes the previous night's episodio available to watch on line the very next day. No CC, but hey, we can't have it all, right?

Emerald rose: Welcome to my night!

NJ Sue: Ingrid Martz IMHO usually plays nice girls and I cannot remember the last time I saw one where she was a meanie throughout. She's a terrific actress IMHO. I am glad we have a new love interest and she's sure to make things very interesting around there for all concerned.
On the other hand, I wanted some real hunk as competition for Tav to make him see green, and don't see a single candidate presented to us yet. Bummer!

Jardiniera, you might be right about Ed acting like a "galan" in wanting to respect MC's privacy. I only thought of things from a girl's perspective and also, nothing Ed has done so far screamed "galan" to me (well, except for his pilot uniform and the fact that we've had a glimpse of his naked chest). But you are right, if he truly keeps MC's secret he will be about 100 times more galan worthy than Tav could ever dream of becoming...
At the same time, if he doesn't realize MA is MC, then to bad galanura doesn't work as a brain, too. :)

jlk: I am as confused about her silence to Tobias and Don Ale re Minicruz, myself. It doesn't fit with her unless you realize that she trusted Tobias to talk Don Ale out of flying over there and he didn't manage that. I notice also that e-mailing Don Ale that she was his long lost granddaughter and Tobias can prove it with a look inside her box of old letters never got sent either.

Kelley: Interesting reality check on pilots in birthing babies on board planes!

Jardinera,

actually one can get captions with that link you provided. Just arrow near the bottom of the picture once the episode has begun and a panel pops up which includes a CC option and one can choose either Spanish or English.

Carlos

Jardinera654, why no CC?
And this? http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4920/e1x9.jpg

Octavia is not a pretty name (IMO) for the baby. For a boy, sure, Octavio is fine, but the feminine version just doesn't roll off the tongue as well. She should be named Maura, Aurora or Ana Paula (just kidding). No, really, Alejandra after her grandpa is the prettiest choice. Or Marilu (Maria Guadalupe). Just Lupita (Guadalupe) seems so ... meh ... and Guadalupe Alejandra (or vice versa) is too much of a mouthful for anyone.

Carlos- Those bartender videos might be the best reality show around (after So You Think You Can Dance, of course). Is it ok to drink an Old Fashioned while watching this novela? Tequila goes better with El Senor de los Cielos, but the casino seems to call for cocktails.

Kelly

Jardinera, thanks for another high quality recap. Of course MariAle had no trouble regaining her girlish figure. Lots of good comments on yucky slobber-swap between Ewwsebio and Awfelia and MA's lack of news to her family, so I won't add any.

I would like to see MA bring the baby for Serafina to see, with Tav just happening to stroll in, but I doubt that will happen.

Kelly,

I think an Old Fashioned would go very well with this show as well as either a Martini or a Manhattan. I so enjoy watching that guy lovingly describe making various drinks.

Carlos

Carlos: Thanks for the tip. Will definitely try next opportunity!
