Corazon Indomable, #56, Tuesday, 07/30/13 Everybody gets ready for the kidnapping party and Teo 2.0 makes an appearance

This felt like a set up for the next episode, so I decided to have some fun with it here and there...

The ranch – Lucia’s room

Lucia is in bed, she talks to Ofelia about her baby dying. It was a girl, she finds out. Esther comes in and tells her they buried the baby on the ranch, but Ofelia’s surprised look tells us that was not the case. Esther also adds that they’ll plant a rose bush where they buried the child. Lucia is crying, mourning her baby.
I don’t mean to sound insensitive, but Lucia had no belly, what was there to bury?

MC’s new office - Maricruz and Miguel talk about his employment at the Casino

Maricruz (confident and stiff): "Hello, Sir that I don’t know. What is your name? I need to add you to the list of employees for when we pay you your miserable wages."
Miguel (to himself): "Dios mio, she looks just like Maricruz! Or is it a ghost? Or a double?"
Maricruz: "What is your name, Sir? How old are you? Are you married?"
Miguel: "I’m Miguel Narvaez, I'm giving you my name because the pueblo police are surely not searching for me, even if I’m a fugitive. I’m 40 and I’m married to a lunatic, but I came here alone."
Maricruz: "You don’t look like the kind of guy who is used to doing a portero job. I bet you own a ranch that you had no clue how to manage. Do you have any references?"
Miguel: "I’ve never worked before (truth!)… for others."
Maricruz: "Are you a responsible person or a mediocre loser? Will you be able to humiliate yourself to add to your pay, to receive tips?"
Miguel: "The H*** I will. I won’t need them."
Maricruz: "Your salary is very low, you won’t be able to live with it. You’ll need to learn to adapt. Welcome to the Casino and now get lost! I need to think about my revenge."

Miguel leaves, Maricruz has another talk with Destiny, this time to let it know the revenge is beginning in 3, 2, 1…

At night

The Casino - Carola is greeting Karim and Mohamed

Carola: "It’s an honor to have you with us, Sire"
Karim: "I don’t care about that. Where is your associate? I want her with me tonight."

Carola goes to talk to Tony
Carola: "Where is La Mendoza?"
Tony: "I don’t know, maybe deciding what new dress to wear tonight?"
Maricruz (showing up in a glittery dress and the bun hair that I don’t like): "What’s up, gang? Miss me?"
Carola: "The Emir wants you with him tonight."
Maricruz: "Then he shall have me. Oh, Tony, let me know when my other boyfriend, The Governor, comes in. Good night!"
Carola (sweetly): "Good night!"
           (in her mind): "Drop dead!"
(to Tony): "La Mendoza is trying to have her cake and eat it, too. Ha!”

Karim and Maricruz
Karim:" May Allah bless you for joining me."
Maricruz: "Yeah, sure! I need to talk to you in private."
Karim: "Should we go somewhere else (where I can kidnap you better?)"
Maricruz: "You wish! Here is the deal: that jewel you gave me that time, I’ll wear it to your party, but after that you’ll have to take it back. As a woman, I can’t take a gift like that from you."
Karim: "I hope you change your mind."
Maricruz (to herself): "I better shut up and cause a scandal at the party, to humiliate Tav and Doris."

Pilotontos Quarters - They’re drinking coffee, or tea, like real MEN do.
Esther calls with the news about Lucia and the baby. Lucia is suffering a lot because of the baby girl she lost and because Miguel is not around. Esther doesn’t want Miguel to know because he’d come to the ranch and get caught. But could Tav come to work the ranch? No, he’ll do no such thing, he knows nothing ‘bout ranching no lands…

Tav (to Ed): "I’m not going. Lucia deserves this. She knew about Maricruz being pregnant and she still sacrificed her. Now it’s her turn to suffer."
Ed: "You started all this."
Tav: "No, no, that’s not something I care to hear. I won’t tell Miguel anything. Maybe my child is hungry now, having a hard life. How Maricruz must have suffered… She was so innocent and I hurt her. I need to find her and repay her for all the hurt I caused."
Ed: "Forget about that! Did you talk to Doris? She’ll find a job for Miguel."
Tav: "Oh, no, I don’t want to have any debts with her. Besides, I seem to remember that I’m married."

The Gov’s house - Doris and Papito

Doris: "I want a job!"
Papito (chocking): "What? YOU want to work?"
Doris: "Nooo, not me! Geez, dad! It’s for someone else, and it has to be a good job. It’s for Miguel, the brother of the man I love, the love of my life."

The next day

Mexico City
We see a man getting out of a fancy convertible. We only see him from the back… for now. He is visiting Aracely, and the music is menacing, but…It’s just Teobaldo, with a fixed face and some ugly, yellowish hair (I suppose it’s a wig). But Aracely doesn’t recognize him, because this is Corazon Indomable and we didn’t already have a character pretending to be someone else (Also, I have to admit Teo’s change is rather significant, though the actor is so amazing, he somehow manages to keep a certain grimace on that part of the face that used to be deformed)
Teo 2.0 asks Aracely about a room, if there is enough hot water and whatnot. When he leaves, Aracely goes into Tav mode, thinking that she feels like she knows this man from somewhere.

Alone in his car, Teo is happy that nobody will recognize him. A lot of things will change in his life now that he’s a normal person.

(Last night I was to tired, but here is a nice comparison between the 3 Manuel Landeta - is it just me, or Teo1.0 is almost better than Teo 2.0)

Isla Dorada - the beach
Doris and Tav are in the “mi amor” stage of their relationship. Tav is not happy that the Gov is intervening for Miguel. Doris doesn’t worry about this, though, she always knows how to treat her dad to get what she wants. She explains Tav about the trick she thinks she played on Maria Alejandra, by making the Emir take back his invitation.
Tav is not happy about it, defends MA, but Doris is sure if MA dares to come to the party, she will be thrown out.

MC’s office - The obligatory every other episode rendez-vous between our star crossed lovers happens. There is some mellow music on the background, telling us that we need to pay attention and feel the love or something

Tav: "Good morning!"
Maricruz (startled): "Don’t you know how to knock?"
He goes back and knocks.
Maricruz: "Tell me what you need, I’m looking over the Casino’s accounts, because I’m a finance genius."
Tav: At night you look so beautiful, who could ever picture you behind a desk?"(Beauty and brains, what are the odds? Poor Tav hasn’t been so blessed, so for him Maria Alejandra is obviously an extraordinary person.)
Maricruz: "Why are you here, Sir?"
Tav (to himself): "She looks just like Maricruz."
(to her) "I came to warn you! You’ll be thrown out of the emir's party."
Maricruz: "LOL! Did Doris tell you this?"
Tav: "I swear on my honor, I’m telling the truth! Don’t trust a man like the emir too much. He’s used to having all the women he wants. I have an offer for you. If they throw you out, you can get out of there holding my arm."
Maricruz: "What a gentleman! I can assure you I’ll stay at the party as long as I want, but I accept your offer."
Tav: "Good! I’m leaving now, so you can work." – And he gets right in her face, making her finally lose her cool. Once he leaves, he stops on the other side of the door and sighs; in the office MC thinks about how much she still loves him.

Carola’s office
Raiza, Carola and Tony talk about Miguel’s work assignments. Raiza wants Miguel to learn how to work the game tables, because she likes him and would like to get into his pants. So she leaves to take a stroll on the deck and check out the new portero wearing his uniform.
Carola thinks Miguel is hiding something (but at this point who isn’t?) – asks Tony to observe him.

At the ranch
Jose Antonio and Santa talk about how Lucia is paying with the life of her baby for what she did to Maricruz. JA didn’t know MC was going to have a baby.

Miguel’s poor room (that looks anything but)
Tav goes to visit Miguel and admire his new white uniform (but where is the sailor thingy on the back?). He asks him not to go to work, but Miguel is cool with it because he still has hope for a better future. He has to work to pay the room, he has to pay for his mistakes, for Lucia’s mistakes and for Tav’s, too – because everything started when Tav brought MC to the ranch only to mess with them and destroy Lucia’s tranquility and home. And if Tav is ashamed with the work he’ll do, he better stop showing up at the Casino (So in Miguel’s eyes, all of this is Tav’s fault? Granted, he started it all, but how about Lucia’s tricks? How about Miguel’s own idiocy? Oh well, they make a great family, the Narvaez).

Somewhere on the Isle
In her car, MC is remembering Tav’s old besos and is smiling, then she remembers his offer from earlier and she starts whining that she’ll never be able to forget him and hate him the way she has to. She won’t be able to exact her revenge! She will give it all up for love (is she asking or saying - I have no idea. Also, Tav only breathed in her vicinity, is that enough for her to give up on the much talked about revenge?)
No, never mind, she starts remembering all the bad moments, the way Lucia and Miguel talked to her, the necklace affair – the revenge is back on!

At night

The Casino - Miguel and Raiza

Raiza (wearing a form fitted grey dress): "Hola, Miguel, looking fine in your new digs!"
Miguel: "Don’t laugh at me."
Raiza: "I’m not. How about if we get together after you finish work? We could get a drink, go for a walk, or just skip all that and go to my place."
Miguel: "I’d love to, especially since I have no clue this will be a date."

The Gov’s house
Doris wants to arrive at the party early to see the show of how Maria Alejandra gets thrown out. The Gov knows that won’t happen, but he doesn’t say anything, he just asks Doris to let go of her antipathy if Maria Alejandra is not thrown out.
No worries, Doris is sure the emir will listen to her, because she is the Gov’s daughter and Maria Alejandra doesn’t belong to their social class.

Tav’s room -he is  alone

Tav (outloud):  "Miguel is kind of right when he says that I’m to blame for what happened. I should go see Lucia, I can’t abandon her and not tell Miguel. He is a victim. On second thought, no, he’s not, the only victim here is Maricruz." (finally something smart coming out of your pretty mouth).

Later, he’s getting ready for the party - he wants to arrive as soon as possible to see what will happen with Maria Alejandra. The reception desk calls to let him know the Gov’s car has arrived and Ed acts all jealous. But Tav is not impressed, because he’s not for sale.

The Casino - Teo 2.0 has arrived, Carola doesn’t recognize him, either. Come on, you aresupposed to be smart…
Teo says his name is Angel Anferes (?) and Carola pretends to remember him from years before.

Teo 2.0: "To bad Alejandro Mendoza is dead, right?"
Carola (to herself): "Who is this man? Who?"
Teo 2.0: "Where is that monster that used to work as a portero? And how about El Zorillo and the money he stole."
Carola - cara impactada
Teo 2.0: "Bye-bye now, talk to you soon."
Carola (to herself): "Where did I meet this man? I don’t like the way he talks to me, like he knows all my secrets."

Later on, Teo 2.0 meets Raiza. He talks to her like they are old acquaintances. He mentions how her enemy, Teo, is no longer in the Casino. It goes without saying that she doesn’t recognize him, either.

In her car, going to Karim’s party, MC admits to herself that she’s only attending the soirée because she wants to see Tav and is jealous of Doris. But they can’t see her in a vulnerable state, she has to be strong.

Party Central
Karim is very happy with the decorations of his house, he hopes everyone will enjoy the party as he flies to the paradise with his princess. Nobody will care about her, it’s not like she’s the Gov’s daughter, she’s just some woman from the Casino – no matter how beautiful she is, she is still just a woman and women are made to please men.
He starts to prepare his kidnapping: the plane, the room where they’ll keep her until they fly away. Mohamed tries to change Karim’s mind, but it’s all useless. (and Carlos de la Mota is enjoying this to much!)

The guests start to arrive, an odalisca is dancing in the middle of the room, as Tav and his gang greet Karim.
Doris wants to wait for Maria Alejandra to show up, and that is exactly what she does, right on cue, and looking all smug and confident in her red dress.

Preview:
I think Tony is on to Teo, but never mind that, because at the party, Tav asks Maricruz to dance with him and they kiss in front of everybody.

"I seem to remember that I am married"
Ha!!! I thought this was hilarious, especially when he told Doris the Bimbo that men take things "con mas seriedad". Oblivio is sure taking his marriage and baby with LOTS of seriousness and responsibility (eye roll). I must admit that I love the chemistry between him and MC. The oblivious puppy dog eyes can be quite cute.

I don't blame Aracely for not recognizing Teo. She had no idea that he was going to Mexico City for a makeover, and the change was quite extreme (totally with you on the ugly wig). If I was in her place, it would take me a while to connect the dots too. Or maybe I've lost some brain cells watching this TN (shudder).

Anyway, thanks for having fun with another useless episode. I love your snarky dialogue paraphrasing!

@Adriana - that was absolutely hilarious. I loved the whole recap, but I particularly loved this line: "Aracely goes into Tav mode, thinking that she feels like she knows this man from somewhere.

BTW, did you notice that "Party Central" is none other than the "ranch living room" set? The set designer didn't even bother hiding the stairs in the background, even though they are a dead giveaway. Remember my comments a few weeks ago about Mrs. Mejia not being good at budgeting? Now why didn't she think of shooting this party in advance, when they were "on location" at that absolutely gorgeous mega-villa Karim had on his own private island. It's not as if she didn't know this party was going to happen, since it took place in the previous versions of this novella too.

Great recap, Adriana Noel. I am a huge fan of "loose translations" and you did a great job with this one. Your dialogues are better than the show's dialogue.

I also liked the "Aracely goes into Tav mode" line.

I completely agree with you about Manuel Landeta. He is just marvelous. I didn't pay close attention to Teresa so I feel like I am seeing him for the first time. I wasn't real pleased that they put fake hair on him, but I guess that bald would have made it more obvious it was Teo. Frankly that's ridiculous because we've all been wearing our beanies. We've accepted no-show pregnancies and Tav's inability to recognize his own wife. Surely we would all accept that no one recognized a bald Teo 2.0.

Oh! I wish they would stop putting MA's hair up in that bun, too.

LatinainMD: I noticed the double duty set, too :-)

What was up with the hair??? Yesterday everyone was talking about the best thing about Ed and Octavio- the hair. And yet they give Teo this? If this is the actor's real hair that he couldn't grow out enough, then I take back my scorn and will cut them some slack. But if it's a wig then no slack. None. The pic that Vivi posted I think showed him bald and he looked good. Really good. Really better than this.

And given all the surgery he had to do would he really want to deal with a whole head hair transplant? And if he had to have this, why couldn't they just scalp Eduardo and use that? It would have made more sense. And certainly more than him spending money on a wig like that.

Ok, I'm done. Sorry. I have to skip this episode but it sounds like we need more Karim.

Kelly

Thanks, Adriana Noel, for such a complete and fun recap.

In spite of the bad wig, I love how Teo is pulling everybody's chain. The only photos I could find of Manuel Landeta were ones in which he was bald and quite striking. Maybe a bad wig was their only option.

I also loved Maricruz striding into that hornet' s nest of a party. She has come a long way. Too bad the moonkey wasn't with her for protection.

Looks like kidnapping attempt tomorrow.

Recap Update

I added a few photos of Manuel Landeta, just to make a better comparison between how he looks like in real life and how they made him "pretty" in C.I. No bueno!

Oh, and of course, real Manuel Landeta is the one Vivi showed us - saving pretty men pictures comes in handy sometimes. Thanks, Vivi!

Thanks Adriana, absolutely wonderful recap!
Loved all the snarky dialogues

my absolute fave:

"I’m Miguel Narvaez, I'm giving you my name because the pueblo police are surely not searching for me, even if I’m a fugitive. I’m 40 and I’m married to a lunatic, but I came here alone."

What's this mistery about the dead baby's (fetus) funeral??

I'm not the least surprised that nobody recognize Teo, he became quite handsome despite the horrible hair.

Can't wait for todays episode!

Oh, Adriana, if this had only been the REAL show we watched last night! Absolutely hysterical. Parking the coffee.

So I watched the whole episode last night, and couldn't believe it was another filler with way too much blah blah blah except for Teo's big reveal. Knowing the actor, I thought WTH? when I saw the hair and frankly, way too much makeup? Now, I also know we have had to really park the beanies on events vs. time frames...but they total rearranging of Teo took how long? Is this his ten day, maybe two week makeover? With that deck of hair too?

Anyone else thinking that Karim, played deliciously lately by Carlos, is getting a tad more maniacal? There seems to be a slight look of being deranged now in his eyes.

HATE THE BUN!

Daisynjay

Adriana- This was such a funny retelling that I don't know if I want to ruin it by actually watching the episode.

I do appreciate the pic of Teo 2.0 though, because I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. They managed to make Manuel Landeta unattractive give. He's bald in real life and looks better bald than in those horrid wigs. They should have just let him grow facial hair and let that be his disguise.

So, no kidnapping yet?

Don't know why my tablet chose to add a random extra word above.

I know Tav changes his mind about things as often as he changes his socks, but just last episode he told Miguel not to take the porter job and offered to speak to Doris to get her father's help. Now he's saying he doesn't want to do that. Why the change?

Vivi, what Tav told Ed was that he doesn't want to owe Doris a favor and this is why he doesn't want her to get involved. Later on he told Doris herslelf that he doesn't want her dad to go through too much trouble in trying to help his brother; but basically, it's what he told Ed, as oblivious as he is we have to give him credit for seeing Doris for what she really is: a lunatic that can turn into a stalker faster than we can say CRAZY.

BUT ....(!!!)
What Tav should think and say is that if the police is after Miguel there is no way he should get a job in a Governor's administration, because don't they do background checks before hiring people to serve the country or the state or the random Mexican islands that are big enough to have a Governor?

This story with Miguel has been handled so badly - it's painfully obvious they only wanted to get him to Isla Dorada and close to MC and the storyline they chose to make this happen is filled with errors.

Lots of funny comments in this one. I really believe recappers write better when they are thoroughly annoyed. So stay cranky, Adriana!

Some of my favorites:

"Besides, I seem to remember I'm married."

"Doris and Tav are in the 'mi amor' stage of their relationship." (nice brief way of analyzing where that dubious coupling is going)

noting the mellow music in background when Octavio is nudging himself into Maricruz' personal space.

Whenever their theme music plays, we can be sure they're feelin' the love. Music rules in these stories.

But the winner last night was this:

"(Beauty and brains, what are the odds? Poor Tav hasn't been so blessed, so for him Maria Alejandra is obviously an extraordinary person.)"

So fine. Tav in a nutshell. He does seem to fit in very small spaces, brain-wise.

Enjoyed the recap, and enjoyed Maricruz' smokin' hot dress, but like Daisynjay, still HATE THE BUN!

Oh and count me among those terribly disappointed by the ugly wig on Teobaldo. Looked like they recycled the one worn by Colunga's supposedly American friend in MEPS. Didn't look good then, doesn't look good now. Whereas Landau in what I assume is his natural bald state is flat out gorgeous.

I forgot to mention how much I love this title, Adriana.

Here is how Manuel Landeta looked when I first saw him in the 90's. I had no idea then that he was wearing a rug or colored contacts. He can even sing!

Thanks Adriana, this is hilarious. I thought that Maricruz was rather mean with Miguel so I especially liked:

"Welcome to the Casino and now get lost! I need to think about my revenge."

Poor Doris, she has now managed to get a spot on Maricruz's little to do list.

That dancer that Karim hired certainly didn't seem very enthusiastic about her work did she?

So Teo is now going to contend for Maricruz's affection with this new look? Good luck.

Carlos

Even if they didn't recognize Teo because of the surgery/hair, he sure sounded like the old Teo His speech/enunciation was just cleaned up a bit by the surgery but his voice was basically the same. Maybe they were just too busy listening to themselves!

Jarifa

Love the recap, so many great lines. I actually really enjoyed this episode though it was a set up.

Two things, if the money for being a portero is so bad how does Teo have so much money, even if he was saving for like 20 years. I can justify money for the surgeries, maybe they were having a face and hump for one low price special, but then for the car, the tux and spending money? He has to be the robber right?

Two, do you think the whole Lucia losing a girl (wasn't it too early to tell the sex?)an early set up for when MA arrives with her baby girl? Or was this all just a ploy to show Lucia suffering, like Miguel? To make them a little more human?

At this point, MA doesn't need any revenge as karma is a bitch to the Narvaez!

Adriana Noel -- Thank you . Thank you for a great start to my day. Your recap is hilarious. Sorry I suggested a hair transplant for Teo several days ago. BIG mistake on my part.

At the moment I am whelmed (not over, just whelmed) by the plot direction.

Personally I like MA's hair in a bun. Teo's wig should look so good.

Adriana, I loved your conversation better than the one they really had. I wish they would talk like that.

Lol about Teo's new look. Hair!?! I liked your side by side photos of the actor. Too bad he doesn't look like the third picture. I could really get into that guy. Teo #2 looks fake and made up. And when Teo mentioned Teo to the ladies, neither of them put the image in their mind to figure out that he's similar? Wouldn't you at least think he might be related to Teo? Maybe a brother?

Aong with that cathyx, my first thought when we had to endure the to the camera Carola "who is this guy and how does he know my secrets?" was, Ah, why don't you ask him?

But then, this is a TN, that would be common sense and would ruin some future 'Ta-Da" moment. Along with that we could add the issue of the fact that both the pro folks ARE MARRIED. Sure would shut down obsessive looney-tune Doris if she knew that tidbit. Let's see if MC is quick on her feet and throws that at Karim during her kidnapping: "Dude, you're wasting your time. I'm married with a kid at home. However, heard Doris is available."

Daisynjay

Karim is married too. He doesn't care if MA is married. He only wants to add her to his harem.

Adriana this was a brilliant recap of a dull episode. Your humor was very much appreciated. And ITA w/you about the Miguel plot (and other plots too) being poorly and illogically written.

I really don't want the kidnapping to happen as it seems Karim will only become more crazy as this ridiculous plot moves forward.

The preview left me in stitches b/c the protagonists finally kiss in front of EVERYONE including their respective crazies. Good times.

Have you all Christian De La Fuente fanatics heard the latest? They have officially confirmed the title of his new novela will be "Quiero Amarte" instead of "El Aroma De Tu Amor". They have also confirmed Karyme Lozano as the female lead.

LatinaMD, yeah, the fanatics know the good news :))
I don't have any hopes that Cristian/ Karime will be as hot as Cristian/ Silvia, but they had another tn and from the few clips I watched, they look ok together.

@LatinainMD, YES I have heard the news and I am SO excited. Flavio Medina will also be in it; I thought he was amazing as Alonso in AB. With the same producer/writer as that TN, this ought to be great.

I know this isn't the right thread, but will Caray Caray be recapping La Mujer del Vendaval? It's starting August 19 at 2 pm central time.

Bailey Marie- It's hard to get daytime recappers. We did it for Amorcito Corazon, and it became more of a group effort from the commenters, much like the Telemundo feed. We'd put up one header each week, and then recap in the comments. If you want to do it, then perhaps take the lead and contact Melinama about getting a label and put out feelers to see if anyone else is interested. Thanks for the info. I had wondered if they would bring that one here.

Sara- Was it you who checked out Cachito del Cielo and said it was awful? Sometimes there's a reason why some of these tns were on during the day in Mexico, and chosen to be put on during the day by Univision.

Thanks Adriana. Your recap was way more entertaining than the actual episode. This is the third time in a row that I have fallen asleep while watching this novela...not a good sign.

I too am looking forward to see how MA lets her guard down and also how everyone else will react to their kiss.

Teo looks weird...ITA with you all that his hair is odd. Does not seem him as well as that third pic.

Adriana Noel---You said that you wanted to have fun with this one and that you did. The 2nd paragraph
with Miguel in MC's office was hilarious. You had great lines all the way through. Arcely going into Tav mode was also a winner. Thank you for a great fun recap.

Filler this, filler that, another useless episode, boring. The story
is progressing nicely. If you guys want action so badly, why not rent a Bruce Lee Kung Fu or a Jean Claude Van Damme movie? You will get plenty of action there.

Vivi---Since I am not allowed to use the d...b.. word, it will be bsc/lucifer from now on. Anyway, I can see Lucia going completely crazy before this novela ends so bsc/lucifer would be a better choice. And you're right, she isn't
dumb, just bsc.

All those that want to see Maricruz
go through the horror of being kidnapped by what is turning out to be a deranged, obsessed psycho and whisked away to the Middle East
shame on you, but looks like you are going to get your wish. The only good thing that could possibly
come out of it, is that it might give Oblivio a chance to rescue her. I hope so.

Carvivlie---ITA--Maybe Maricruz won't have to go through with vengeance after all. Karma seems to be doing a pretty good job on the Narvaez right now.

All the ladies hate the bun. I'm a man and I say that Maricruz's red
dress was smokin' hot and the bun rocked.

WAY TO GO PAUL---Right on, us men know.

I do agree with you guys about Teobaldo's wig. It could have been better.
the gringo

Maybe it is a female thing, but I hate the bun too. It could almost be called a muffintop, haha. I don't think buns are attractive at all, and I think they are old fashioned and severe looking. And especially on MA, it's not a good look. One could sweep the hair up off ones face and pull it back to get the same look without the grandma look that a bun conjures up.

And speaking of hair, maybe Teo's wouldn't look as bad if it were a more normal hair color and one that suited his looks better.

Well, I don't care much for the bun, either. I don't think that look complements Maricruz's facial features which the long flowing hair frames very nicely. On Audrey Hepburn that look
was very striking... on Maricruz it's striking but in a not so great way.

I think for Teo, the hair color and style that Yawn/Carlos (AV) has would look much better.

Carlos

Carlos

emeraldrose-"whelmed" LOLOLOL!!!

Vivi-I've checked out Cachito. I have not determined if it's awful yet (I'm only on episode three...I've got a backlog.) I guess can see why it did poorly in Mexico. Truthfully it isn't gawdawful. I am intrigued by the plot and Pedro is really a hoot. Disclaimer: my "quality" meterbar is very very very very very very low.

My (bald) husband is very pleased that we are disappointed in Teo's hair. Bald Power! He says. (He also thought ML looked "cool")

word verification: enembra (what a woman does after a long day in an ill-fitting bra.)

Carlos querido, thanks for posting that picture of Audrey Hepburn. Yessss...that face, those eyes...agree with your assessment completely.

For Audrey, the hairstyle works, for Maricruz no.

But Gringo, I love your passionate defense of the character in all matters. It's very endearing.

Every woman needs a Gringo in her corner. (And a Carlos and a Paul, of course.)

OK. I just watched my recording.

Despite the bad wig and weird makeup, Teo fills out a tuxedo very nicely. The makeup/hair people really missed the mark when they made their decision. Bald and bearded would have been so much better.

Anyone else find it odd that Doris and her father and her brother always meet in her bedroom? Don't they have a living room in that house? And she has giant fish on her bedroom wall, while Tav/Ed's hotel has giant sea horses on their walls. Is this an Isla Dorada thing?

I don't get why everyone keeps harping on working for tips. Doing your service job well, with a pleasant attitude and a smile, isn't that hard. If Miguel keeps going around with that scowl on his face, as they showed he had when he opened the door for those women, then he really shouldn't even have the job, much less expect tips. That guayabera shirt he got as a uniform is pretty nice. (I notice the other staff wear them too.) Guayaberas are comfy/cool, timelessly stylish, and not cheap. Suck it up, Miguel.

Thumbs down on the bun all the way.

Vivi, although I agree on the outfit, you call it a guayabera? I was still hoping for a sailor suit. That would have had comedic relief.

And another no on the bun vote.

My dad used to wear guayaberas all.the.time. I wish I knew why he stopped.

I love them. To me, a man always looks sharp in one.

Sara C -- I believe Bailey Marie also mentioned Chacito, but I have just stumbled upon it. Is anyone doing a recap of the day time TN's? Today's episode with the brassy angel and the older fellow (I am not into it enough to know who is who yet) was hilarious. Does anyone else watch this?

Enjoy tonihgts CI.

Sara- My dad wears them too. He had a bunch from Jamaica that he wore out, but then found them really hard to find in the States. I ordered a few for him online a few years back. He loves them. They originated in Cuba and the Philippines and spread to the other islands and coastal Latin America from there. Now the main place they are made is Mexico. The Filipino version is very sheer, and the long sleeved version is used for special occasions like weddings.

OMG, your recap totally made me laugh! Love those "paraphrased" conversations!

Teo 2.0 reminds me of Manuel Landeta's sleazy Ruben in Teresa. The hair is terrible, and makes him so unattractive. I would have to agree that I prefer deformed Teo... I hope Teo the sequel doesn't get all corrupt now that he sees himself as "normal" especially considering his obsession with MA.

This was hilarious, Adriana, and a wonderful summation of the episode.
I was very disappointed to reach my motel tonight and find no Univision available! Another capitulo to catch online!

Hi everybody. Just coming in to say I hate the bun too. And I hated it on Jlo too (Maids in Manhattan?)I thoroughly was amazed at Teo's transformation. Now who would he get matched to? Why not Raiza. Poor thing"\! I think she's softening up a bit. I hate Doris.(....... .....)

Vida2 I agree that Raiza is not nearly as villanous as it seemed like she was going to be. I would like to see her form an allegiance with MC to seduce Miguel as part of her revenge against Lucia.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I still like the bun :)

Count me in as one of the bun admirers!

It's me again. Vivi, regarding those bedrooms and decors, why do I get a feeling that these film makers are taking shots in hotel rooms in Isla, they all seem the same, small but nice and windows are the same overlooking the beautiful sea.I think they look like condominium rooms in Cancun. Never been there but I was browsing around. And it's really cheap. Oh to be there this summer!!!!
Also those white shirts are called Barong tagalog (In the Phil) meaning Fil shirt. The Filipino versions are mostly made from pineapple hemp but are beige in color. They're the national costume -formal wear for men and most businessmen wear them instead of suits(they're cool to wear, literally). Women also wear them like a dress shirt, and with matching shoes and handbag to boot. Most of them are hand embroidered with fine colored or beige thread.
to change the topic, I still don't like the buns.
Carlos, I like that MC's "little to do list".

This is cool!
