CI #71 An Inconvenient Impass: Maricruz Gets The Jump On Octavio And Another Marriage Proprosal

Cap #71

As we jet back to Gold Island for another glimpse of All That Glitters, a mewling Miguel badgers a wary Octavio into covering Miguelito’s medical expenses out of his half of the ranch should things get worse for the baby boy instead of better.  Tav does the decent thing and agrees, but not before ripping his bro a new one for borrowing against their ranch just so he could squander [despilferrar = waste/vernacular trans.: piss away] it all gambling and boozing it up instead of thinking he might need it for his wife and child--not that thinking ahead is generally a personality trait either Narvaez brother has displayed much if at all to date…. (Mr. Grasshopper, meet Mr. Ant.)

In her office, Maria Alejandra has her bad-ass bunch of divorce lawyers still on the horn and she’s telling them that Octavio Narvaez and Maricruz have a child, a responsibility which ON cannot be allowed to simply palm off onto his estranged wife so easily now.   In fact, she tells them, she wants him paying the max for alimony and child care!  “--Make sure it’s large [amplio] and will cover anything that might be necessary.  “—He’ll be at his ranch in a couple of days. Get the jump on him and prevent him from getting that divorce!

Tav now tells Migui then that he’s headed back to the ranch to get his divorce so he can then marry Doris.  Migui congratulates him.  It’s the best decision he’s ever made, he tells Tav.  Tav disagrees.  It’s not the best, but hey, it’s what he’s going to do—which is to take the easy way out of things and rely on his good looks to lead him to good fortune.  (Yep, it’s easy money—or would be if he was marrying anybody but Doris! )

Meanwhile, MariAle has put Plan Guvernator into action and called El Gobernador to flirt.  Oh.My.Gawd.  Viewerville does a rubber-necking double-take.  Halloween horrores, Batman!! Mirror-mirror on the wall, who’s that superannuated, liver-spotted, lunatic looking back at me from the other side of his bathroom stall?  It’s The Guv looking like a groupie getting ready for a Batman convention!  (The Joker has a cuz on the other side of the border? Who knew?)  The Guv’s got MariAle on the squawk box and he’s chatting away while he dabs on glops of hair color goo. (Somebody put in a call to the Just for Men rep.)  Doris overhears his conversation with MariAle.  She’s laying it on heavy, flirting big time on the other end.  Doris starts to go in to break things off, but then she gets a good peak at Papi and for once she is stunned into silence—admittedly a first for her--and this when she nearly has a fit hearing her daddy promising MA his fortune to be laid at that trollop’s feet!

Back in the boonies, meanwhile, Simone has Ester over for lemonade and cookies.  She’s given Jose Antonio a job as promised, but she’s worried about what Ester will do when she gets tired of raising his and her brood in a hut. There are kids involved now, she reminds Ester.  Oh, that will ne-v-v-v-er happen!  FF>>

Doris holds off and keeps things to herself, though after he’s dressed and ready to leave she gives her Daddy grief over the obviously-dyed hair look.  He should be more dignified, she groans, and instead of messing with his stately gubernatorial grey, he should accept his aging gracefully.  He’s too old to be primping like this for “that woman”.  “--Tell that snake in the grass that she’s not getting her way about you!  You tell her, hear me??”

Meanwhile, Ex-mir Karim needs a new male secretary.  The agency sends over Teobaldo’s alter ego.  Karim gets his princely panties in a twist because TAE refuses to call him “His Highness.”  Sorry, dude, but you’re no longer royalty, he tells him.  (You were thrown out on your assets, remember?)

Back at the guv’s manse, Doris calls Mariana to get over there quick for a strategic convo.

The Guv arrives at MA’s office and MariAle has him take her out to lunch.  Raiza pokes her head out of her office and notes the two of them leaving together.

Karim informs T.A.E. that he was born a prince by the grace of Allah and still deserves his title.  TAE observes that no, he was born a prince merely by chance.  Karim is obviously miffed and can’t understand a man asking for a job giving him a lecture.   TAE always calls it like he sees it, he tells him.  He’ll be a superb worker and honest as the day is long, tho’ a rogue [un pillo a carta cabal] “--unlike those slaves who were your vassals”.  Is there a problem?  What?  Has Karim never had people tell him the truth, before?  Karim loses his questionably royal temper.  “—That’s right! And you are not going to be the first to, either!  Get. Out!”  TAE leaves.

Mariana arrives a bit later at the gambling boat and is looking for Guv. She runs into Raiza who surmises correctly about what Mariana is doing there. “--Sorry, the governor was here and left with Sra. Mendoza. Any message?  “—Yes, I am his fiancee.  He was to meet me here, but didn’t show. I guess for business reasons.  Tell him I was here but missed him.”
During lunch Guv proposes to MariAle again.  She demurs, claiming her line of work is socially unacceptable for a man in his position.  He moves in for The Kiss and she sidelines him smoothly, hiding her feelings of revulsion for him.

Tav and Eduardo land in Mexico City.  On their way into customs, they’re discussing Tav’s only reason for marrying Doris.  “—I won’t be a slave to the company any longer.”  Eddy chuckles.  “--You’re so naive.  No, instead of being a slave to the company, you’re going to be a slave to Doris Montenegro!”  (Otherwise known as going from the frying pan and heading straight into the fire.)

MA continues her cat and mouse game with The Guv.  “--Oh, I fear I’ll never find the right man, one who truly loves me for myself, and then there’s your daughter who thinks I’m too far down the social ladder for you.”  “--I’m offering you my protection and my name.”  They return a bit later to her office and get the news from Raiza about Mariana showing up and introducing herself as his fiancée.  He lamely insists to MA that that isn’t the truth at all, but MA uses it as a chance to politely put a bit of much desired distance between the two of them again.  “--So you’re not really engaged to her?”  N-no-no-no!  She’s a friend of his daughter’s and it’s something the two of them must have thought up!  Oh, well, then he’s going to have to protect her from his daughter’s ill will.  He will have to be strict with her and then call her up in front of MariAle and tell Doris he’s marrying her!  “--Done! Not to worry!  I am a man who makes his own decisions.”  MA secretly is counting on that not really being the case.

Mariana comes over to Doris’s the next day and tells her that it’s obvious that every one of MA’s employees are aware of the fact that she and Doris’s daddy are… lovers!

At the hospital, meanwhile, Miguelito is starting to come out of his coma it seems, but stupid Lucia thinks the worst and starts screaming in the hallway at the top of her lungs for a nurse .  “—Help!  My son’s dying!”

Tav finally arrives back at the hacienda and immediately gives Ester grief for getting involved with JA.   Not your problem, buddy, she tells him.  “—Besides, I’m only following your own lousy example!”

Back at the hospital the nurse tells Lucia that her son is actually getting better, that he’s no longer having convulsions.  She’ll have the doctor explain it all to her.  FF>>

Tav reminds Ester that at least he got married legally.  She, on the other hand, is openly fooling around with a man, not to mention that he’s from the lowest of social strata and that she was always the first to show her contempt for the lower classes.  Things changed, replies Ester.  Obviously you’ve never been in true love.  You go all crazy.  If you and the others want to think I’m crazy, then go ahead.  Doesn’t bother me at all!  Fine, says Tav.  Just let me talk to JA then, man to man.  No, she won’t let him. Tav isn’t a blood relation and has no right to butt in.  But, she will admit that she’s worried the same will happen to her that happened between him and Maricruz.  Too bad.  Should have thought of that first, he belatedly advises.  Anyway, he’s still going to talk to JA whether she likes it or not. (It’s a macho thing.)

Lucia tells Miguel that she’s still worried, despite what the nurse told her. He says he’ll talk to the doc to make sure, but if the nurse says he’s better, then try to believe her.  The doc comes in, does a quick once over with the little one and pulls Migui out for a private chat about “details”. Turns out they’re going to have to operate—brain surgery!  Dun-dun-dunnnn!  The doc tells Miguel that the surgery will be simple, but expensive and he urges him to find the money somehow.

Back at the ranch, Tav informs Ester that he’s headed into town to arrange his divorce from Maricruz.  Once he’s found the attorney’s office his paralegal explains it won’t be a simple open and shut case since the day before, Maricruz’s attorney filed for divorce against Tav.  She’s claiming abandonment, cruelty and a number of other things only his attorney can explain in detail to him.

Back in Isla Dorada, MariAle is forced to see her “new business associate”, tho’ he’s the last man on earth she wants anywhere near her, she complains to Raiza.  He comes in. The first thing he does once she tells him she’s sorry for what happened to him is to blame her for all of it!  No way, she tells him!  It was because of your weak character!  He insists it was because of her and insults her.  Sticks and stones, she warns him, nothing will get her to change either her opinion nor the way she conducts her business!   His was simply a case of being done in before he could do in (he aims his two fingers at her like an imaginary gun) the other person (implying her).

Miguel explains to Lucia about the operation.  If they don’t operate the boy will suffer from epilepsy the rest of his life.  The surgery is safe enough.  It’s just a question of having the money to do it, he tells her.  They’ll beg, borrow, or steal for it is Lucia’s attitude.  (No problem.  Across town, their banker has just set anchor.)

Doris continues her head games with her daddy over MariAle.  He tells her to stop the foolishness and that he’s taking her to see Sra. Mendosa to propose to her in front of Doris, who is suddenly drop-jaw impactada.

Back in MariAle’s office, Karim reminds MA that he’s still a very rich man. "Yes, I know, but that money’s not yours, it belongs to your people. However, that’s their problem to sort out."  It’s just that he could have done so much good with it if he’d wanted, she continues.  “--Oh?  I could?  You really think I could still?” “--Yes, but then who am I to talk about civic duty, anyway? So, what are you here for?”  He proposes marriage.  She is saucer-eyed impactada.  She didn’t see that one coming, apparently.

MA asks Karim if he’s really serious.  Yep.  Rich playboy Karim is ready to settle down, he assures her.  She still suspects him of trying to get even with her.  He doesn’t want to get even with her for anything, he assures her.  Then why did he mention it only a minute or two ago?  Oh, he tells her, sometimes stupid things just pop out of his mouth without thinking.

Back at the gubernatorial manse, Doris tells Daddy never will she ever allow him to marry that woman, let alone allow herself to be humiliated having to accept her as her stepmother!  My gawd, she’s even got a kid by gawd knows who!  “—By her husband!  She was married!”  “--Oh really?  Did she show you her license?”  He’s in love, he insists, and he’s going to marry her!  In love???  Doris tells him to take a good look in the mirror.  He’s an old man.  “--She’s practically a schoolgirl!   My gawd, she’s young enough to be your daughter!  Get real!”

Tav finds JA by the stables and tells him he wants to talk about him and Ester.  Bottom line, he’s only there for a little while and before he goes he wanted to make sure JA will marry Ester.

Karim swears to MA “on his honor” that he’s telling her the truth, though she admits she finds it impossible to believe him.  In fact, he’s going to give her time to think it through and he will not force her into anything.  “—I’ve learned my lesson there!”  He promises to accept her answer, whatever it might be and then leaves.

Alone again in her office, meantime, MariAle thinks of the three men in her life and each of their marriage proposals.   What’s a girl to do?  Despite it all, she’s still feeling empty and alone.

Good stuff. However, I missed something somewhere as in how is Karim no longer royal?

If that is truly the case he should definitely lose some of his sense of entitlement.

Marrying the governor is not a good move; Doris will make her life a worse hell than the marriage itself. MA needs something else to do, so let's hope she can drag out the divorce. Octavio needs to pay with lagrimas de sangre for what he did and allowed others to do to her.

Urban: I gather that it's a metaphysical question. He's no longer in power and was thrown out as king/potentate or whatever, so TAE thinks he's lost all claim to royal heritage ala the Czarist family in Russia? I believe Karim is clinging on to "divine right" despite getting thrown out of Eden by rivals and the hoi polloi.

Great work Jardinera. I got a call, so I missed some of the episode. The recap was much needed.

Mari does realize the becoming the Gov's novia/prometida/esposa means he's going to expect to be able to caress, kiss, and maybe even make love to her, right? Blech! In any case, it's not nice to play with the old guy's feelings like this. I got a good chuckle over his Just for Men moment.

Urban- Karim was overthrown by his suergo. I think the plan may be to eventually put Karim's as yet unborn child on the throne. There was mention of a brother initially, so I wonder what happened with him.

"The Joker has a cuz on the other side of the border"; "Mirror, mirror . . ."; Dunn . . .dunn. . . dunn" and many other fun phrases were a wonderful addition to my coffee this a.m. Thanks, Jardinera.

All I can say is Maricruz is on a roll with 2 proposals in one day!!!

Urban, Karim suffered a coup back home. Seems they were tired of him and his selfish ways.

Jarifa

Awesome recap, Jardinera. Loved the references to Batman and Just for Men.

@Vivi - MA has thought-bubbled or said out loud to herself a few times that she doesn't really expect to marry the guv. She is just stringing him along to get back at O.

Most men aren't going to wait for the wedding night to touch and kiss their woman, as we saw from the Gov's eagerness to caress his prometida. Even if she doesn't ever intend to walk down the isle, she's going to have to keep bobbing and weaving to avoid being touched while she's playing this game. :)

That's aisle. I've got Isla Dorada on the brain.

Always enjoy your sassy recaps, Jardinera. "Mewling Miguel" and "Mr. Grasshopper meet Mr. Ant". Well said, my friend!

Also really appreciated the translation for "un pillo a carta cabal". I sat there knowing I should look it up, but too lazy, alas, to do it!

The Ester storyline is so very strange. Where does she go when she's not living on the ranch? Clearly she has a parents and a home. Why are they not worried about her? How would they possibly permit her to whelp kids in a shack and raise their grandchildren on wild blueberries and creek fish? Just doesn't make sense.

I know the storyline is in here as another morality tale about the difference between the rich and the poor but it's just not credibly written, even for a telenovela.

Yep, I'm back to overthinking. Stop, Judy stop!

Thanks for a helpful and very witty recap, Jardiner.

Thank you for the great recap Jardinera.
I'm finding it hysterical how MA has to stifle the look of revulsion that drifts across her face whenever the Governor makes a move on her! I love MA but I do hate how she's treating the Governor. But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do when venganza is the name of the game, right? Interesting how she told him that she'd never done anything to his daughter, good or bad. Must be forgetting that he was in the room when she slapped Doris across the face, hard.

I'm hoping that nurse slips Lucia a little chloral hydrate to keep her from breaking into hysterics every few minutes. It's funny how Lucia's imperious demeanor has disappeared and she's now literally falling apart at the seams. She's getting closer and closer to the mud pit every day!

Crack me up Jardinera. Your take on the Guvernator...too funny. How did he look in the mirror and think he looked good? Now we know for sure he's delusional. For once, I had to side with Doris. Don't worry, it didn't last long.

Yep, Judy. On this TN, don't even try to figure out the why's and wherefore's. I thought the same thing myself. I would like to see Esther, NOW, try to live the life. She's talking a good talk, but she's still living comfortably.

So....I'm still baffled on Karim. I know I was gone last week, but did I miss something with the fact the dude is married already? How can he propose to MC, and she's actually thinking about it? Is this another of those "what happens in Isla, stays in Isla?" Maybe I need to stop over-thinking too.

Poor Tav, I actually felt sorry for him last night watching how much it must of hurt to make those brain cells work getting the divorce papers. Bet he had a major headache. Now if he still can't put two and two together---let's see MC says she has a baby he must support, back on the island Maria has a baby...Bingo! I know, we're asking a lot. He's handsome, no one ever said he would be smart.

daisynjay

Dude deserves the coup; when I think of how much dinero is hoarded by royal families in that part of the world and what they spend it on...

I figured she's stringing the governor along, but how long can she keep this up?

Perhaps most of our characters should have the brain surgery Miguelito is about to have? ;-)

I am still not comfortable with Mari being so callous about using Miguelito's illness to profit/get revenge. I do like the divorce suit tactic though.

Daisynajay- Since he already knew that both women had babies, I don't think hearing that MC is suing him for child support will trigger anything. I think it's more likely that hearing that MC now has the ability, means, and the inclination to hires lawyers to sue his a** will bring his image of MC closer to his image of the vindictive MA.

It’s not he hasn’t had the MA is MC epiphany before, but whenever MA or anyone points out that poor, sweet, naïve, ignorant MC couldn’t possibly transform into bitchy sophisticate MA, he backs down. Now that he has evidence that MC isn’t so naïve and ignorant anymore, it just might be harder to convince him that MC and MA can’t be the same person.

For once, I had to side with Doris. Don't worry, it didn't last long." Ditto, Daisy!
=====
Jarifa: My pleasure! Anything to jumpstart the get-to-work genes.
====
ViviDC: "she's going to have to keep bobbing and weaving to avoid being touched while she's playing this game" It's going to get pretty tiring by like yesterday already.
=====
JudyB: "I sat there knowing I should look it up, but too lazy". Tsk, tsk profesora mía. ; ? P Twenty lashes with a wet noodle for that one, amiga! Join the crowd! Just think! If it weren't for me having to stay up to recap we might have both been left to clandestinely revel in perpetual ignorance! LOL!
======
Paul: "I'm hoping that nurse slips Lucia a little chloral hydrate to keep her from breaking into hysterics"--and may the needle go in just slightly off angle….. Whoops! Did I say that????

Thanks much Jardinera! So glad you are on this team - fun! Un pillo a carta cabal was a completely new one for me too.

Great point about Maricruz suddenly having the wherewithal to hire lawyers, Vivi! Plus, Oct totally caught that the suit came in YESTERDAY - some coincidence! To whom did he mention yesterday he was returning home to initiate divorce proceedings? Now whether Oct will remember that epiphany...........

Audrey

Thanks for the great recap!

The writers have kinda turned the Luv Guv into a bit of a silly character, which I like bec sometimes this show takes itself too seriously. A little comic relief is nice.

LOL, MA squirming every time Guv comes even close to her. How long can she keep this up? I'm starting to feel a little bad for the guy. He is nice enough.

Love that MA got the jump on Tav.

Looking forward to tonight's episode bec it looks like Lucia may be going to MA to ask for help. I think she would help bec its a child even if she wasn't wearing her revenge mask. It just happens that it works in her plans to bankrupt the family. Miguel got himself into this situation not MA.

Thank you Jardinera for the great recap. Have not had a a chance to watch the latest episode, but am going to to catch up tonight. Lots of homework to get to.

I love abbreviations ON and T.A.E. Very inventive.

Thanks Jardinera, your recaps are always superb and this is certainly no exception. My favorite: Ex-mir Karim, for some reason that cracked me up.

Carvivlie,

"I'm starting to feel a little bad for the guy. He is nice enough."

Well, he did accept that $20 million bribe from the exmir, but of course he was planning to use that to build schools and hospitals for the island.

My favorite scene was the Guv touching up his hair. Makes him look years younger.

I also really enjoyed the scene between Karim and Teo. I'm guessing that Teo will eventually go to work for him.

Now I'm feeling a bit guilty about Miguelito. I did have a bit of fun with his tumble down the stairs on Fri and now here he is needing brain surgery. Yikes!

I thought that it was a bit strange that the Dr. wanted to talk with Miguel in private about the surgery. I would have talked with both parents together.

Didn't Doris look cute in that little white sun dress?

Carlos

LOL Carlos, I didn't say he was a saint!

What does everyone think of Karim's proposal? I wasn't expecting it. Do you think he planned on revenge but MA speaking straight to him prompted back the new and improved, human Karim? Or is it really a new ploy to get back at her? I thought he seemed quite sincere and normal again. But I am easily fooled by good looking men! ;)

Thanks Jardinera, what a crazy episode you got to recap.

The governor's a rich man. Why does he need to color his hair himself? And sorry Carlos, the dyed hair doesn't make him look younger to me. It makes him look foolishly trying to look younger.

I can't believe the quick turnaround in Karim's attitude. Not sure if I believe it. And how is Angel experienced to be his secretary? What's going to happen with that plot?

I thought Octavio wanted to talk to JA about MC. Why should he care about JA and Ester?

Carvivlie, if Lucia comes to MA for money for the operation, I hope she makes her get it out of the mud with her teeth.

Audrey: ITA that Tav registered disgust with that sneer of disbelief, but I guess I didn't think it through any farther. Tonight we'll get the meaning behind the sneer from what the avances seemed to show.
===
Carviville: Yes indeedy comic relief in small doses can be a good thing, provided it's not a Mejia production!
======
LatinaMD: Sorry! I skipped past your comment!!! I'm wondering how long MA's string can stretch before it breaks!
====

emeralrose: T.U.! LOL! It gets to be a real pain having to write out these lo-o-o-o-ng Mexican names when writing these things!!

====
Carlos: just chalk it up to the day of the week. I can only imagine if you were three mint julips to the wind.....As for the doc only telling Miguel about the surgery, ITA that I would have expected him to tell both of them together. Perhaps he'd had enough of Lucia's hysterics for one day.

CathyX: you win the ITSA award for the day!

Jardinera, I knew I could count on your recap to break the mid-week doldrums. "Mewling Miguel" and "Ex-mir" Karim caused severe snorting.

There were two scenes I would save for my highlight list: The Guv applying the hair color, which was funny just for the process. It didn't really add to his looks and it's the only thing to stop Doris in her tracks.

The other scene was the end, with a pensive MariAle pondering her three suitors in the window blind stripes of sun and shadow.

Of course, it's the only doctor in Golden Isle who's treating Miguelito and also treated Karim. Or maybe he's just the house dr. for the casino?

"Halloween horrores, Batman!! Mirror-mirror on the wall, who’s that superannuated, liver-spotted, lunatic looking back at me from the other side of his bathroom stall? It’s The Guv looking like a groupie getting ready for a Batman convention!"

OH. MY. GOD!!!!! This needs to end up on the left-hand quotes!! LOLOLOLOL

MariAle sure is repulsed by the Batman Groupie, and with good reason. I honestly don't think she'll ever be able to marry him, and she won't have to with divorce out of the question.

@Urban Anthropologist, I completely agree with you about Octavio. He's shown himself to be an absolute coward and deserves to pay for what he did to Maricruz. I love how MC is rightfully accusing him of abandonment and cruelty.

Poor Miguelito! I hope he recovers, and that this brain surgery is just a way of forcing Miguel to give MC the ranch. Like Jardinera, I fast forwarded through all the Lucia scenes. ShutupDoris was particularly hysterical tonight, so I fastforwarded through her too.

Was el Gobernador a hairdresser in a previous life? What's with the latex gloves and the professional brush? I must say, he did a very good job. I thought for sure he would have purple stains on his forehead.

I admit that I skip over the ShutUpDoris scenes too. Since she is aways screaming about the same thing every time she speaks, I know that I can safely do some dishes or throw in a load of laundry and not miss a thing.

"Alone again in her office, meantime, MariAle thinks of the three men in her life and each of their marriage proposals. What’s a girl to do?"
Well this true for the marriage proposals but actually there are four (4) men who want her to share her life, None other than the mutant Teo/Angel. That shoe is yet to drop

Bailey Marie: "I love how MC is rightfully accusing him of abandonment and cruelty." ITA with Urban A also. He lamely--and I do mean lamely-- tried to do the right thing by sending money back and calling a time or two, but that was just to assuage his meager conscience, and not because he truly cared. He was so lackadaisical about the whole situation! What was even more upsetting to me was that he selfishly did not divorce her despite Eduardo specifically advising him to do it so she could make another start in life as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
==========
La Paloma: The Guv doing his hair was definitely one for the record books. I couldn't stop snickering myself! I don't know how many takes that scene must have taken for them to all keep a straight face on that set. Kudos to Sr. Tommasi! He's the consummate professional--and I'm still giggling as I post this!
===========

Daniela: "I thought for sure he would have purple stains on his forehead." --And I kept thinking of that chemical smell that sometimes just lingers behind you for the next 24 hrs. Ugh!

Thank you Jardinera for the recap and for a fun morning.
He'll rely on his good looks to lead him to good fortune. [yep, it's easy money or would be if he was marrying anybody but doris.
MariAle has put plan Guvernator into action.
To Karim---you were thrown out on your assets, remember?
I could go on for several more Jardinera, as I said, it was a fun read, a fun morning.

So Tav tries to set Ester straight but doesn't get very far. Ester is another strong woman who can dish it right back. He isn't going to lecture her.

He tells her they'll beg, borrow or steal for it. No problem, across town, their banker has just set anchor. And that anchor is strong I might add. Karma is comming at them strong.

Great comment Paul---Yes Lucia's imperious demeanor has disappeared.
Her past is catching up to her and
she is inching closer to the mud pit. Lucifer and Miguel will be on their knees begging for mercy before Maricruz gets through with them.

Daisynjay---Right! He's handsome but not smart. My guess is that when Mari's lawyer gets through with him, some of his dorment brain cells might start functioning again.

Octavio thinks like his brother and Lucia. He's at the ranch telling Ester not to marry a low classed. Well, by the time Maricruz gets through with him, he isn't going to be so "high classed"
himself.

Carvivlie---MA squirming every time
the Gov. comes close to her---Well
yes, Maricruz is a young goddess and the Governor is a old-----you
fill in the blanks.

yes Carlos---Doris is very cute. It's just her mouth that's the problem. If Tav thinks that he suffered with "savage Maricruz," as
weak as he is, how would he do with Doris? LOL
the gringo

Gringo: We could say there's a difference between lower class and classless--and that Los Narvaez might need to discern the difference!

Not only did Octavio try to arrange for a better place for Maricruz and family to live, provide for them financially, but he also tried to arrange for José Antonio to take over as her husband. Let's not be too harsh on him.

Carlos

@Daniela and @Jardinera654 - maybe it was the lingering chemical smell that made MariAle look even more repulsed than usual when the guv moved in for a kiss at the restaurant.

LOL Carlos!!!

Thanks, Jardinera, for another snappy recap. I, too, especially enjoyed "ex-Mir Kamir."

I love A, Tomassi , the actor playing the Gov. The hair coloring scene was cute. It reminded me of my late father-in-law. He was a bit vain, and he used to cover his gray hair with Grecian Formula. One time, it turned his hair green. He also used to color my sister--law's hair for her. He was quite a character. Hub,on the other hand, turned gray at a very young age like his mother. He had a streak of white in the front of his very black hair when he was a teen, and he was completely white by the time he was 4, just like his mom. He would never go to all the trouble the Gov goes to .

Carlos...."harsh". ....Can you believe that I have a guy in my class named Harsh ?

Only you, Susanlynn, would have a student named Harsh!!!!! LOL!
======

Carlos: we'll have to agree to disagree regarding Tav for a couple of reasons, but the show's about to start again!

Thanks, all!

whoops...completely white by the time was 40....not 4. at 4 , he had lovely, dark curls.

Is it just me or did the Gov's hair look much darker in some scenes than others. Right after the dye job jet black. When he was in the casino office it looked dark brown. I notice his pocket hankie was an interesting marbled pattern, black and white. Could he have mopped his brow before entering La Mendoz's office and some excess dye wiped off.

And how does MariA keep a straight face when seeing him with raven locks? And was she avoiding his embraces or was it just the after dye job odor?
