Corazon Indomable #74 We see Solita and Tobias, they are still alive.

CeCe is off having a fun weekend, so I'm filling in again.

Viejo:
MA is pining for Octavio. Please, how could you pine for such an oblivious man? I don’t get it. He’s not that cute.

Same convo between Simona and Ester that they’ve had since Ester fell in love with JA. And since she’s a woman, of course she has to bow to her man and do what he says. I think that’s the law in Mexico. It’s in their constitution. It plainly states that if your husband wants to live in a shack, even if you have better options and you have a baby on the way, you live in that shack. Ester has the popular misapprehension that once they have a child, the situation will improve. Word from the wise, children don’t make a bad situation better. In fact, they make it worse. But she informs Simona that living in a shack with a newborn in an area that is unsafe is way better than being an old maid. Oh, did she just say that to an old maid? I’d take Simona’s life over the one she’s gonna have in a heartbeat.

Lisenciado Escobar tells MA that Octavio wants to see his hija.
Nuevo:
Raisa gives Miguel the money. He’s grateful. Now that you're sober, Miguel, maybe you could shave.

MA is still talking to her lawyer about the visitation. MA puts conditions on the visitation. It must be in his office, and she doesn't want to see him.

Doris is having lunch with Octavio. I thought they were done. She is saying the same thing as always. She won’t let up.  I will say it again. Shut Up Doris! Even the birds in the cage behind them are saying Shut Up Doris!  She finally gets him to agree to still pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend. What a weak man he is.

MA comes home and kisses Lupita. I wish I could do that. She looks scrumptious. I just want to kiss her up! Just for the record, I mean the baby.

Andres is at daddy’s office and before he leaves, he wants to tell his dad that he should forget that casino woman, she’s not for him.

MA informs Juanita that they are leaving La Isla. (Are they going home to Toluca?)
Juanita is happy to finally leave la isla and see the rest of the world, or at least somewhere different. Poor sheltered girl. They’re going to Mexico City.

Siblings say a teary goodbye. Andres is off to the military academy. She’s upset that he’s leaving and tells him to stay. He blames the way she is on himself because he spoiled her. And since she’s getting on with her life with another man, he must get on with his own life. He’s her brother, right?

Octavio and Ed are at the airport and Octavio is wondering if the baby is really his. He thinks how odd that right as he was about to get married, MC made this declaration. It’s almost like she knows what’s going on in Octavio’s life! But how could she?!? This man can’t even put 1 plus 1 together at this point. Oy. He wonders what MC could even look like after all this time. Then he decides that he will file for paternity and take the baby away from her. Oy. Hire help to take care of the baby while he works. Oy. Doris will love that competition.

MA worries that Octavio will see her with a child as they leave. Are there no other flights? MA gives Lupita to Juanita as they board the plane to Mexico. Luckily for MA, Oblivio won’t suspect a thing.

JA is showing Ester their plot in the free lands where he will build their shack. They continue their argument. Same thing as usual. Is that an italian horn JA is wearing? I haven’t seen one of those since I was in high school and all the italian boys wore them. That must mean he’s an italian stud.

The plane lands and MA and Juanita are in Mexico City. We get a taxi tour of the sights.
They arrive at Don Ale’s old place and see Tobias and Solita. Long time no see. Big happy reunion ensues.

Solita has a very tiny hijo and she brings him to see MA.  Babies unite! MA tells Solita that she would like to bring her to la Isla. Right, you’ve said that a few times before. I’ll believe it when I see it. We still never learn what Solita's baby's name is.

JA is digging the ground for his shack. Wow, that man has been busy. Now there’s a big gully where the land was flat before. What has he done with all those huge boulders? Did he move them by himself? Some local children approach and say hello. JA can’t believe he used to be like those kids, uneducated and unmotivated. He agrees that Ester has changed him. Later, a boy brings JA a glass of water. It’s dirty and JA turns it down. That’s what the water in the free lands is like. The boy drinks it instead. JA asks where he got it and he told him it was from the river. Why don’t they build wells, he asks. Because it tastes awful and it’s bitter. The boys says that it could be because people say theirs gold and silver underground. That makes JA go hmm. The boy tells him not to say anything because his dad said that if it were known that there were gold and silver here, they would kick them off the land. He got that right.

Now Ester is having the same boring conversation with Awfelia about class and love. Ugh! She’ll whine to anyone who will listen. Awfelia feels her pain. Ester says that since it’s a law in Mexico that women have to do what their husbands tell them, she will go live at the dump. It’s what God wants too. Ugh! Then she gives Awfelia a lecture that not all poor people are bad people. Where do the writers come up with this crap?

The next day, Simona tries to talk sense into JA about the shack, yada, yada, yada. He won’t change his mind.

Back at the lawyer’s office, MA is setting the groundwork. Don’t let him have her for very long, he’ll tire of her soon anyway since that’s the Narvaez men’s way with women. Ouch. The lawyer brings the baby to Octavio in the lobby. MA doesn’t want him to see her. Octavio gets teary eyed at seeing her. MA is listening at the door. It looks like the baby is wearing the same white dress that MC used to wear, only newer. Octavio pleads with the lawyer to let him have time alone with the baby, take it for a walk, buy her some clothes, maybe some candy. I would love it if he did that for me. I'd get a snickers bar. But he nixes that and says he has to go to trial for that right. Octavio asks for time alone with the baby.  The lawyer leaves. He whispers sweet nothings to her as MA listens. What can I say, Octavio has a thing for innocent helpless creatures. He says that he won’t let her be raised by a mother who is ignorant and illiterate. He’ll take her away from her to raise her properly. This gets MA fuming.

Previews: Oblivio sees MA with the baby as they arrive back at the island. Will he now put 1 and 1 together? Doubt it.

Comments:
Cathyx, thank you for the fun recap. I thought the same thing about the horn around his neck and also haven't seen one of those since high school. There must be some universal cross culture appeal.

Ester better watch out and start running in the other direction away from JA. JA blames her as much as the others for what happened to Maricruz and calls her on it.

I miss the mooonkey!!! I wonder where he was when Maricruz came to visit.

Jarifa

Thank you, Cathyx, for this early posting. Since I know such little Spanish, I did not understand the scene with JA and the little boy. I thought that seeing the dirty water and something about not going to school (I don't know) would make JA reconsider. Thanks again. I love this TN!

Tks so much Cathyx

What can you say about Oblivio? Would you trust him to take care of a child, which even now is way more intelligent than he is.
Mejia has made him so stupid that if he is good looking, I can't see it. Definitely a case for OSHA.

Even if he saw the baby again, he probably wouldn't recognize it. He has the worst case of prosopagnosia on the planet & the rest of the Navareaz family isn't must better. Hope it's not genetic for Lupita's sake. ¡oy vey María! (can't remember who to credit for that one)

As I said before, the mono went to Germany with Bieber.

Cathyx -- Thank you for the great recap. I did notice that Lupita's dress kind of morphed from a cute little white baby dress to the tattered old dress that Maricruz' wore or were my eyes paying tricks on me? I did also notice the smile on Lupita's face when Tav took her. That baby is so sweet, just love her.

t is good to see Tobias again. LOVE that man. I van't wait until Monday and the presumed confrontation between Tav and MariA, should be interesting. And I wonder if Tav will get the connection?

Carols I have a question for you. It seems that in every scene the baby's eyes are tracking something. I think it is the studio lights. I would think they would be very bright. Is this harmful to little eyes?

emerald rose, I figured the baby is looking at her mother, who I assume is right off camera. I think the baby is old enough now that she can see distance.

Wow..."prosopagnosia", you just taught me a new word Variopinta. Knew about the condition but didn't know the word for ut (or I've forgotten it since my Greek and Latin Derivatives course in high school).

CathyX, enjoyed your recap immensely and for once, enjoyed the episode also. I knew Maricruz was intending to dress the baby in rags (from the disapproving looks of both the nanny and Tobias) but had no idea it would be a scaled down version of her white dress. Que padre!

Not sure Octavio's ready to be a father. Buying candy for an infant!!!????Yikes. However, I'm with you Cathy, Snickers, or possibly a York Mint Patty, would be my choice.

Gotta go to the grocery now!

Thanks for the recap. And yes, I'm such a sentimental dork that I teared up when Octavio took the baby in his arms and talked so sweetly to her. Actually I think he holds the baby much more expertly than the alleged mommy does. Who can resist a handsome hunk like that?! And what an agreeable infant. Man, she keeps getting handed off to one adult after another and never a peep. I'll take half a dozen, thank you very much!

Jarifa, maybe the monkey met a girl monkey and started their own family.

Variopinta, I saw a program on prosopagnosia. They likened the affliction for those of us who don't have it to be as difficult as recognizing faces that were upside down. So if you took a picture and turned it upside down, you would have a hard time recognizing who that person is, even if it were your own relative.

JudyB, I was hoping that MA would come out dressed as MC and act like she did back then. Then Oblivio would never think that MA was MC again.

Cathyx- I read the recap first, and laughed throughout. But now I'm in the middle of watching the episode, and had to pause because I can't stop laughing after seeing the scaled down version of one of Mari's tattered white dresses on the baby. Then the bumper before commercial was of Mari int he exact same dress. LOL! Well done Mari!

On to watch the rest.

I'm the the fan of this girl. She is adorable.
Octavio was soo sweet with his girl. Oh, those noses.
There is a behind the screen video of this meeting, but I think I should better show it on Tuesday. Daniel and the baby were sooo cute.
Alegria

Thanks, Cathyx. I missed this episode. .

As to our missing monkey, perhaps he bought a bath and body shop here in Cape May...It's named Monkey Farts...an unfortunate choice of a name if you ask me. I won't be buying any bath salts there.

OK. Done. There wasn’t much left to watch. The previews are exciting, and I’m recapping it! I would not be surprised at all if Mari just told Oblivious that her child just looks like his child, just like she just happens to look like his wife…and he’d once again say he’s unsure of the truth!

But he’s not the only man in this tn who is an idiot. He had major competition from JA this episode. JA wants his child to grow up in a place where ignorance is rampant, there doesn’t seem to be a good available school for the children, AND they are forced to drink contaminated water. Seriously? He wants his PREGNANT mujer, and then his child to drink contaminated water? At least take Simona up on the offer of a free house, until he’s finished building a decent house, and found some way to get potable water to it. I don’t care if it takes him a few years to make that happen. So be it. In the meantime, he should make sure his mujer and child are safe and healthy. THAT’S what a “real man” does.

Loved the color of Mari’s dress and the matching lipstick at the end of the episode. I also loved seeing Solita, her baby, Tobi, and even Justa. They seem to have a happy little life together in D.F. The baby cousins were adorable together! I noticed how Solita would turn to Tobi to get him to translate Mari’s ravings to her. LOL!

Still no makeover for Solita, and Tobi and Justa still call her niña, even though she’s a mom now. It’s cute.

Vivi, Solita is still a niña. She's supposed to be 15. I can't picture my 15 year old as a woman either, even if she did have a child already, God forbid.

I won't be surprised that JA discovers gold and silver while he's digging for his shack. Then he will be rich and can buy a home worthy of his formerly rich wife, and keep his pride.

I thought it was odd that MA didn't even ask about the changuito who was, after all, her constant companion. But then again, she rarely mentions Solita, Solita's baby or Tobias. I guess when you're obsessed with venganza, there's not much room for anything else in the cabeza.

Cathyx- It stands out because tns are always SO clear about not calling a woman a niña once she is married or has a child, no matter what age she is (or the opposite—a 40-something single woman insisting on being called señorita to let everyone know she still virginal, despite her age). I like that they still call her a niña, because as you point out, she IS. But the society they show us of Mexico in tns always likes to make it very clear when a woman isn't virginal anymore.

If JA discovers precious minerals, and tries to sell them, won't he be doing what he promised the little boy he wouldn't do-- putting them all at risk for being kicked out by the gov for the minerals?

Vivi, there you go again. Using logic with this show. But why did they even mention the fact that there's gold and silver underground if it doesn't play a part of the story?

Maybe JA can put his male pride and ego aside, work togther with his educated mujer (will he really marry her?) to figure out a way to help the people in Relampago get written, legal titles to their parcels of land. That way, it will be much harder for the gov to kick them off once they discover gold and/or silver. I can dream of such a logical and satifactory development of the JA-Ester storyline, can't I? But I'm sure the writers will only just show us more dysfunctional nonsense between those two.

Pepe..LoL

There is only one REAL man in this crapola, Tobias.

One thing we can be sure of, Solita's baby is not named Eusebio Jr. Isn't it odd, the next thing you say after cooing over a baby is to ask the name.

Variopinta- Don't we do the same thing with pets too? LOL!

Hey little fella...what's your name? Like the puppy or baby can answer us.

Now I'm wondering, does Oblivio know his baby's name?

Thanks, Cathyx, for filling in with an expert recap.
Let's hope JA can find another source of water before they move into the jacal.
Octavio was sweet with his hija. Since she was dressed in a revamped rag dress, I can understand his desire to buy her clothes, but why candy?? She's too young for that, but I guess it's another thing he doesn't know.
Yes, he should tell Doris she'll have to help raise his daughter.
At least Lupita got to meet her cousin what's-his-name.

Thanks for this excellent recap, cathyx. Hilarious and very well done. We really appreciate that you filled in for Cece with this episode.

Lots of tests of credulity in this.

How in the world did Maricruz, Lupita, and Juanita get through that flight without being noticed (much less recognized) by Octavio?

What have they done with our monkey?

What is Solita's son's name?

emeraldrose, I really don't think that the lights are a health risk to Lupita. I did think that for the first time she demonstrated eye contact with the person holding her... Octavio... and even smiled back. Does she prefer being held by men rather than women?

My CCs weren't there during José Antonio's conversation with the little boy. Did the kid mention that his mother had fried up some cockroaches?

Carlos

Thanks Carlos, I was worried that she was being exposed to something harmful lShe is such a sweetie, and I too would smile at Tav. I am sure that would thrill him (not)

Carlos, JA asked the little boy if anybody got sick from drinking that water. The little boy said that someone (may have been his mother or a medicine lady) would fry up some cockroaches, make them eat it and all the bad stuff is puked out (I'm thinking the roaches is bad enough) and just what the body needs from the water stays in. Que? Que? How's that for a local cure for toxic poisoning?

Really, Octavio? Candy for an infant? Yes, rush her to the store and get her what she needs, Baby Ruth is at the top of the list!

Alegria

Reeses peanut butter cups, the baby doesn't have teeth for the peanut butter to get stuck in.

Peanut butter is a no-no for infants and small children because they can choke on it.

Thanks for the pics Alegria. Daniel/Tav looks really enamored of the baby in that first pic.

JudyB
Oblivísimo doesn't know that.

Wonderful, Cathyx, thanks! "Where do the writers come up with this crap?" ROTFLOL! I ask myself that every episode.

So Mari changes the baby from her raggedy white dress to nice baby clothes - and maybe Tav won't recognize his own daughter, but just be taken by the coincidence that Mari and baby were on the plane? Maybe that's how it will play out.

Wow - Oct wants to take the infant away from her "ignorant and poor" mother. Wow, just wow! A mother who had the wherewithal to hire lawyers and sue for abandonment and lack of support. Otherwise it would have been out of sight, out of mind.

Good point Variopinta. Brains are not his strong suit.

Thanks Anon,

I'm glad that fried roaches are medicinal and not part of their regular diet.

I thought it was also cute that the kid has a live and let live attitude about the biological creatures residing in the drinking water.

Carlos

Remember those few episodes when Esther was smart? I miss that Esther. Isn't she the one who shot JA? Since our theme is vengence, maybe he found out and forcing her to live in a shack and drink bad water is his revenge. It's the only thing that could explain his willingness to risk the life of his wife and child.

So I'm just catching up on the weeks recaps and the last couple episodes. I am soooo sorry I missed seeing the piggy bank. This has probably already been asked (pointlessly), but why does a grown man with a job even have a piggy bank? Why not an ACTUAL bank, with interest and stuff? And did he carry the pig with him to Isla Dorada? I hope he didn't have to take out his tux to make room for it in the suitcase?

And, still realizing it's pointless to question anything, does Octavio think MariAle is MC or not? He thinks she is but then he's going to take the baby away from its poor, uneducated mother. Maybe Lucia isn't the only one with bipolar.

But just him saying this makes me hope he has to suffer by spending the rest of his life with Doris. Wouldn't a decent man offer to help pay for an apartment and schooling rather than take an infant from the only parent its known? Seems even the birds think the dialogue is nonsense.

Kelly

Thank you Cathyx for filling in.
Yes, he is that cute. I couldn't have matched him even in my best years.
Are there no other flights? Yes Cathy, and I add, are Octavio and Ed the only pilots that fly in and out of Isla Dorada?
Even the birds in the cage behind them are saying--Shut Up Doris! LOL
He won't let her be raised by a mother who is ignorant and illiterate. WOW!!! Oblivio, you could have gotten a private tutor for Maricruz, YOU BIG JERK! You didn't try very hard.

Alerta! Alerta! Atencion! Maricruz was with Lupita last night, a mother and daughter bonding session
I hope that Carlos didn't fall asleep and mis that. Remember Carlos, the novela is called Corazon Indomable not Maricruz and Lupita.

Solita and Tobias together with Maricruz last night. After all of the comments concerning Mari's demeanor and attitude lately, I have to ask---was mari cold, uncareing and condecending towards
Solita, Tobias, Juanita or was she
the same sweet Mari as she always was? What? The same sweet Mari you say. Yes, I thought so.

What happened to the monkey? Tobias
got tired tired of cleaning up after him so he was shipped off to the local zoo.

The Latin Goddess look was back last night. Maricruz in that beautiful wine colored dress and matching lipstick. OMG!!! How beautiful!!! Televisa must have a fantastic wardrobe department. I have been in Beverly Hills many times and haven't seen dresses to match the ones in this show.

Emeraldrose---I noticed Lupita's white dress {a match for the Maricrz country dress} last night. Oblivio didn't get the connection though. Maybe he will when he sees Maricruz Monday night. I can't wait
the gringo

Thanks Cathyx, love your funny recap!
I so love and laughed so hard about the baby's dress. It's so complete with the tattered sleeves. Like a MIniMC. But it did backfire so now Oblivious wants to take her.
You're right, Cathyx, that baby is so adorable. I want to smoosh and smooch her so bad. I could almost smell her baby scent.
I wonder if all the scenes of her were taken in the same time span because she doesn't look like she's growing. Always looking like no more than 3 months old staring at the ceiling and her beholders.
I wonder whether the writers would make Karim as the foreign investor in case that land that has silver and gold comes out in the open.
I am believing Esther being in love and will go wither JA wants to go, but I have doubts it will last long because of the impossibility of that place, poisonous water to wit.
I wonder what happened to Don Ale's jet. Was it sold? why would MA/MC take the commercial plane if it was still around?
BTW, after watching the evil Dionisio in Amor Bravio and the good Don Ale in this tn, I am thoroughly enjoying and appreciating a much handsome and younger Cesar Evore in a daytime tn- Entre el Amor y Odio.

Gringo -- I always look forward to your take on things. Love the fact you like great clothes. That is one o the reasons i watch the TN's love the clothes and the set decor

gringo

I look forward to your take on this novela after most of us have murdered it. I do agree with one thing MC/MA is gorgeous & has beautiful clothes, the baby is adorable, so I keep watching.
Is your last name Mejia?

Gringo- Most of us hoped for a Tobias and Solita sighting just so we could see that old Mari. It was nice to see her smiling and being warm again. And yes, she was condescending towards Juanita, if you didn't notice the way she ordered her around and made her cart around luggage and baby strollers while she gave her orders.

Kelly- You didn't miss anything. Sometimes Tav is 100% positive that MA is MC. Then he asks her, she says no, and then he's unsure again. And sometime after that, he always seems to forget his suspicions all together. We've decided he's brain damaged.

The piggy bank was ridiculous for all the reasons you mentioned, but it was funny, and the piggy bank itself was cute.

Well Vivi, remember what a quick learner she is. Apparently she was able to pick up "being rich" just as fast. Too bad she forgot about the private jet though.

Kelly

Hey, even I had forgotten about the private jet, LOL! Maybe the lease expired.

Kelly- Well, since she seems to have forgotten that she has a vast wealth and many businesses (that likely need some attention) outside of the ONE casino on Isla Dorada, it's not surprising that she's forgotten that she has a private plane at her disposal too.

Or more like just plot device thrown in by the writers (who also have memory problems).

Cathyx thanks so much for the recap. i was so tracking w/you about most of your commentary. While DA is cute, Tav is one of the worst galans ever and no amount of hotness can compensate for his character's willful stupidity. As you said, on Monday MA will probably tell him its not your baby and he'll probably believe her, ugh.

And the JA/Ester plot is insane. She was smart and he wasn't a jerk; why perform character transplants like this for such a lame narrative?

So happy to see Solita, her son and Tobias!! I hope the writers don't make them horrible too though that would hard. I miss the monkey :(

MA's dress was great and loved the lipstick.

@CathyX - great recap. BTW, Friday's was episode #74, not #75. Just mentioning it b/c sometimes viewers watch online when they miss a show, so I thought we should correct the #.

@Variopinta - you are giving Mrs. Mejia TOO MUCH credit. She didn't create Octavio. The Octavio character (with different names) was just as stupid and oblivious in the two previous Mexican versions. Mrs. Mejia was just too lazy, along with her writers, to try to improve him in this version.

Oh yes, the private plane. maybe the writers forgot about it or maybe it's down for maintenance. The writers probably did forget about it, but if mari had used it, there wouldn't be a Maricruz/Lupita
sighting at the airport Monday night.

Audrey said---Maybe the lease expired? That's another possibilty.
Could be that if the lease expired, Mari just let it go figureing that she didn't need it.
You know, cutting expenses.

Vivi---I don't understand Spanish but Juanita does work for Maricruz.
It would be normal for the boss to have the employee carry the luggage
Besides, wasn't Mari holding Lupita? She's going to hold Lupita and carry the luggage too?
Another thing---I saw nothing in Juanita's attitude that would suggest that she felt that her boss was rude or taking advantage of her. They both seemed happy together.

Earlier today it was suggested that Jose Antonio might find gold or silver on the land or why else was it mentioned? Good point, but what if that happens? It could get interesting.
the gringo

Gringo- You're absolutely right that Juanita is her employee, and doesn't expect much from Mari, other than to be paid. If you look at my original list of how Mari treats people, you'll see Juanita listed under "polite but condescending". Condescension isn’t necessarily rude, but it does carry a certain imperious attitude and tone, which you can clearly see in Mari's interactions with Juanita, but you don't see in her interactions with Tobi, for example, who is also her employee. The original list of her interactions with people on the island was to show that Mari didn’t have anyone she could call a true friend on the island because she wasn’t treating anyone on the island like an actual friend. The best she could do was polite but condescending. Now that she’s with Solita and Tobi, we get to see the warm part of her personality that we only see brief flashes of when she’s with Lupita at home.

In previous version her father left Mexico while marimar was in Valle Ancantado (or how was it called). So no private jets. It's much more easier to copy past then to change. So Romero only returned to what he wrote for Marimar. It's usual thing here. And from what I see, things are better when he copy-past. All that he created is poor wrote. Look at Solita, for example. It's funny, but Marimar only has 74 episodes. And here after 74 episodes we sooooo far from the end.
About Juanita. MC knows her for several months. I dont think it's enough to treat her as a friend. And Juanita only knows MA, but not MC. But I see that MC become closer with Juanita. Give them time. Besides, Doris treat her friend Isabel worse.

CathyX: you rate a 10+++++ on the snarkometer for this. I laughed the whole way through! Thanks for the fun!

I noted the rag-doll dress nearer the end myself. Too cute by half, MariAle! I suppose it was specially made from her original wedding rags she had tucked away in her chest of memorabilia, right?

Carlos--LOL! thanks for another quirky nod to PETA re: the drinking water! How does Linda ever keep a straight face at your house?

I enjoyed your recapt Cathyx.

I think that while MA is always pleasant to Juanita, she definitely has developed a boss/servant relationship with her. It's the same with Raiza and Tony. I think the intent is to show how she's becoming more and more like the people who oppressed her in the old days. Nobody had a more imperious attitude that Lucia, and now the tables have turned.

Thumbs up for the raspberry dress and make-up. She looked gorgeous.

LatinainMD, thanks for the heads up about the episode number, I changed it.

Kelly, Ester used to be smart before she fell in love. Apparently love makes you dumb. Look at Oblivio? Simona is single and she's still smart.

When I visited Mexico a few years ago, we were told not to drink the water, everyone drank bottled water. Even the little bit of water we used for washing dishes gave us all loose stools.

You are supposed to drink the local beer first to fortify your intestines with the local "friendly" bugs.

Not being able to dig a well to provide clean water for his family did seem to give JA some pause - I hope!

I'm not sure I'd trust that beer rule. A friend was in Guadalajara for med school and he said even the locals had stomach problems so I hope JA can build a really good filter for his well.

(I've been ok with brushing teeth but not drinking the water, but you forget the other things water might be in. Watch out for those chips with hot sauce and lime juice).

Simona should go on vacation to visit Carola so she doesn't have to deal with Esther's and JA's nonsense.

I thought this was over at the end of September. He better hurry up on that mining project.

Kelly

About the only thing that could rescue this show for me would be for a medical doctor to diagnose Octavio with a serious brain ailment that explains why he can't remember his own brother telling him of his family's crimes against MariCruz or the various times he had heard that she was pregnant.

The Ester-JA thing is almost bizarre enough to make me watch it. Almost. I could almost be willing to imagine that the trauma of watching Maricruz's travails, while caring about her, has driven JA insane, and so he really is taking revenge on rich exploiters by forcing Ester to live in Realengo. Or perhaps he could be doing this just a test of Ester's love for him. But the showrunners are refusing to make his actions and motivations anywhere near as coherent as that. And Ester? Yes, a personality transplant is the only explanation.

Does anyone know how many episodes there are total? I don't want to look it up in case there are spoilers.

165 episodes and 2-hours final. The final episode in Mexico will be on the 6 of October.

"to diagnose Octavio with a serious brain ailment that explains why he can't remember his own brother telling him of his family's crimes against MariCruz or the various times he had heard that she was pregnant"-- FWIW: You get my I Totally So Agree award today.

Ahah! Well, we're not quite halfway there. Lots could happen betwixt and between now and the finale. Question is, will MariAle give in to her passion for the putz and bed him once more, or will she let him swim with the sharks a bit longer.

On the other hand the utter cheese of dressing the baby up in a miniature version of MC's dress almost redeems this episode. But why not go whole hog and have MC, dressed in her old style and talking in her old way, confronting Octavio in the lawyer's office? If Teobaldo can transform himself while walking down the street, she can do it just as well. It could have been such a fun scene, and Octavio's head deserves to be played with. If you're going to abandon logic and plausible character motivation, then at least celebrate cheese and take advantage of the opportunities.

Oh my. We're not even halfway with this. If feels like it's at a pivotal point near the end. I can only think that new plot lines and new characters have yet to make an appearance.

Ok Vivi---You're not going to give Mari much of a break, I can go with that.
Condescension isn't necessarily rude but it does carry a certain imperious attitude and tone. Imperious attitude and tone? Right,
it's called being the boss, manager, supervisor ar anything else that it might be named. Bosses give orders---I've worked under several bosses with imperial attitudes and tone, it's part of being the boss---bark out the orders and get the job done. Yes I know that there some super nice bosses but they are few and far between. Bosses give orders, that's what bosses do. Frankly, I don't see Maricruz treating Juanita
in a poor way and I also don't see Juanita dislikeing Maricruz her boss.

Thank you anomymous 8/25 6:45AM

Cathyx---Simona is single and she's
still smart. LOL

Jardinera654---My vote is that she will let him swim with the sharks a bit longer.

UtahDesert---I wish that MariAle had gone back in time and confronted Oblivio as the old Maricruz. That would have been fantastic. However, don't forget what he told Lupita---that he won't let her be raised by a mother who is ignorant and illiterate. If she had confronted him as the old Maricruz, that would
have cemented his thought. Of course, he wouldn't have been able to figure out why she has a top notch lawyer because he's Oblivio.

I'm thinking back to a statement of mine a couple of episodes ago--Miguel got the money for Miguelito's operation but it was just handed to him, no paperwork. What proof does MariAle or Raiza have that they gave the money to him? Is this the way things are done in Mexico or did the writers make a mistake and overlook the IOU
the gringo

Gringo, MA told Raisa to just give him the money. She didn't say loan him the money. She already has what she wants, the ranch and Miguel and Lucia's financial demise. She gave the money for the operation so that the boy wouldn't suffer. She only wants his parents to suffer.

On the question of how Mari talks to Juanita, I'm sure Don Alejandro would have approved of it. I remember my (Peruvian) father speaking approvingly of one of my sisters--"She knows how to give orders!" (Me, when I visit, I smile ingratiatingly at the servants and try and start up conversations and bond.)

Gringo- You're right. Mari is the boss and Juanita likes her. The original question from the other day was about Mari having friends, and why none of the current people in her universe were her friends. Juanita isn't her friend because Mari doesn't treat her like one. Obviously, Mari doesn't want any friends. Her one and only goal and focus is revenge. But we must remember this in those moments when some lament her being all alone and having no one she can turn to for real support on La Isla. This is the case because Mari made it that way.

At this point, the only way dimwit Oblivio will figure out MA is MC is when she says it and spells it out in small words. Even then, he'll be confused!

Once again, I think it's all because Romero changed the plot. In Marimar she had aunt and Corazon (aka Santa&Maria) with her. They were her family and real friends. Here Maria moved away and Santa left in pueblo. It capital no aunt, only Tobias, who stays with Solita, who is a new personage.
Romero's adaptation is really weak. And it's sooo sad.
Alegria

I know that they can’t show us Mari doing good deeds all day, because that would get boring and that’s not what the tn is about. But the writers waste precious time showing Mari having the EXACT SAME rant into the camera about getting her revenge. To me, it would go a long way to help viewers like me, who like our heroines to have a heart, if they showed Mari doing a few of, or any of, these things on a semi regular basis. Just replace a ranting scene with one of these at random:
- More skype time with Solita, her nephew, and Tobi, with Lupita on her lap.
- More time shown with Lupita, WITHOUT going into a revenge rant.
- More time learning sign language, without giving up in 2 seconds to go into a revenge rant.
- Speaking to her employees and trying to improve conditions for them.
- Writing a letter to/calling Santa, JA, or Serafina to thank them for all they did for her in her time of need, and to see how she can be of help to them now.
- Trips to D.F. to visit her sister, if just for a day or two (and not just because a judge ordered her to let Tav see Lupita).

Whatever happened to India María?

I agree with Vivi, I think this TN has failed at getting Viewerville (with the exception of Gringo) to continue liking or caring about the protaganista. I do care about the babies, Solita, Tobias, Simona, and even the monkey.

Right now I think I like most of the other characters better than Maricruz. I don't like Lucia, Doris, and the Emir, and Eusebio was despicable, but I think I like everybody else better, even Teo.

And I'm ready to see Simona's makeover. Surely, she will get one. She must be wearing clothes four sizes too big.

Variopinta, I think Maria knew when to make an exit.

Aleta, I agree about the likability of the characters. I don't like any of the main characters, even Teo is a bit creepy and so is the governor. I don't like older men going after younger women. And JA has gotten to be quite a jerk. Raisa has possibility but I'm not that keen on people who will do anything for money.
The only ones that I like are the ones you mentioned. Solita, Tobias, Santa, Areceli, maybe Ed, and Simona.

So... I wonder if Eddy and Hernán (LaT) perhaps shop at the same boutique? Tight yellow jeans? Yikes!

Carlos

Carlos- I noticed the yellow pants on Ed too! LOL! Just saw a back to school ad, featuring multi-colored jeans.

Perhaps the lovely Linda should buy you a pair, Carlos. What color would you choose?

Carlos- Leather? Spandex? Faux leather spandex?

There once was a wild child named Ester
Whose hatred of Marina will fester
Hissyfits will we see
She won't let DamFab be
As Ester continues to pester.

I think I need help. I just returned from a three-hour drive from the shore with about three loads of laundry and other chores that should be done...but...What am I doing ?????? I am writing limericks. AUXILIO. !!!

Carlos...tight yellow jeans...yikes, indeed. Quick, Carlos, write a limerick about them. It's very cathartic...or annoying. I cannot turn off my brain . It's constantly churning trying to develop a clever limerick about one of the crazy crew from LT.

LOL Susanlynn! You were so excited to get us this great limerick that you put it on the wrong feed. You can't let the CI folks know how crazy we are over on the La Tempestad feed. :)

whoops...Can you get jet lag from a three hour car trip ?? I told you that I need help. The limerick writing is bevoming addictive. Maybe I just do not want to face the reality of the end of my mini vaa and returning to work tomorrow. Oh well, I'd better post my limerick on the right novela. HEY...now I opened a whole new can of worms. I can start thinking up limericks for the multitude of characters on CI.. Let's see..who shall I start with....Drunk Doris or Crazy Lucia or lovesick Ester or Oblivious Oblivio. ???? So many new possibilities. P.s. Is Carlos watching LT. ?? if not, he is missing a really good show .

Susanlynn- No need for the vaca to end until Monday morning. Oh yes. Carlos is with us over on LT. But he hasn't written a limerick or poem yet...

There once were some tight yellow pants
That needed to be given a chance
So Carlos put them on
And then he was gone
To be John Travolta of dance.

Carlos, We are waiting for your limerick. Do not be a slacker. Your excellent recapping skills would indicate that you could write one hell of a good limerick.

Susanlynn,

Ordinarily I don't do poetry or doggerel but never one to back down from a challenge:

In Texas there's a very odd fellow,

A doctor with bright jeans of yellow,

But what makes most folks chuckle,

Are his gigantic belt buckle,

And his penchant for Tequila most mellow.

Carlos

Bravo, amigo Carlos. You are a clever man. Be careful. I am finding that writing limericks has become addictive. Perhaps they have become my new device for avoiding things I should be doing...laundry, I am looking at you.

@Alegria - actually, the total amount of episodes will be 160 (not 165), plus the two-hour Sunday finale. This past Friday was episode #130, and there are only six weeks left between now and the finale on Oct. 6th.

Also, I agree with Alegria's opinion about Carlos Romero's bad adaptation, but for different reasons. I was just 13 years old when Univision's precursor SIN re-ran in 1980 the first 1977 Mexican version of "La Venganza", but I happened to watch the whole thing. That novela was pure drama, and even at such a young age I loved it and its protagonists - Helena Rojo and Enrique Lizalde, two of the best actors Mexico has ever had!!! I also watched Marimar on its first run in 1994 and hated how it was turned into a total farce, but even more I hated the awful acting we got from Thalia and Eduardo Capetillo. So, here's the thing, based on my own memory of those two previous versions plus published facts: it's not that Carlos Romero simply re-wrote Marimar to come up with Corazon Indomable. Although Romero was the main writer of Marimar, it was well publicized that Mrs. Mejia had him go back to the script from the original 1977 dramatic version, not to the Marimar script, to come up with the C.I. version - that's why many of the main characters in C.I. are exactly the same as in La Venganza - one prime example, La Venganza also had an Arab sheik, whereas Marimar had non-Arab Rodolfo San Genis instead. But, Romero then took the La Venganza script and threw into the mix a whole bunch of the worst farcical aspects of his Marimar version, plus a whole bunch of new and unnecessary characters, and then topped it off with a whole lot of filler in order to make C.I. twice as long as the two previous versions. If the characters in C.I. can't keep track of past facts, more than likely it is because Romero has so many versions in his head that he also can't keep track of each of them.

If C.I. had just stuck to the original version, it would have been brilliant, especially given the chemistry between Ana Brenda and Daniel Arenas. But no, Romero and Mrs. Mejia had to get "creative" (destructive is a better word, I think) - him with his crappy, repetitive writing and her with her botched editing job. To get a sense of just how much filler they gave us, consider the fact that the first 75 episodes of C.I. cover the same ground (plot-wise) as the first 50 episodes of Marimar - that's 25 episodes SO FAR of pure filler, my friends.

If anyone is curious, here's a look at the opening credits to the 1977 version "La Venganza" with Helena Rojo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPlRiR8rcrs

And here are the opening credits to the 1994 version "Marimar" with Thalia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPHUirdekhU

My nephew is going away to college and with his summer job money he wanted to buy yellow jeans. My sister pulled her only mom card and told hi "If you love your mother, you're not gonna buy banana yellow jeans." He didn't, but bought yellow ankle-boots and hated them so they're being returned. Apparently Madison Ave is trying to make yellow denim happen-but it's too hipster-y for my taste.

Vivi, ITA that we need to see more 'good deeds from MariAle to like her. I want to hit her every time she rants with Lupita in her arms. That baby looks so world-weary from all the ranting. In La Patrona Gabi/Vero's good deeds were self-serving in that they made her look good in contrast to her enemy Antonia Guerra, but established that she would earn the Patrona title from the people by doing public works-the hospital, the small-to-medium, business bank and the dam that gave SPdO potable water-that would build up good will when she started to tear Antonia down. I remember when the hospital was inaugurated, Antonia said to vero that the hospital rebuilding seemed as much about politics as charity and Vero said 'yes it was. Plus, getting Cecilia to stay at la Forteleza when Guerra kicked her out of La dorada. It protected Ceci and ensured that David would always come over and visit his mother. So mariale's good deeds don't have to be totally selfless-they can serve a dual purpose to get her venganza going while helping her family and other people.
In LP the venganza was more 'Art of War' and 'How to Win friends and Influence People' while MariAle is basically out for blood and doesn't care if she's viewed as the bad guy. There should have been no question IMHO about her helping Miguelito-he's an innocent child who didn't choose his awful parents. If MariAle didn't realize that before Oblivio called her on it, she's just as bad as Lucia.

cathyx, thanks so much for the recap! I appreciate you stepping in and doing a double this week. Yea to you! This recap was fantastic too--oh so many zingers! Among so, so many--I loved:

"since she’s a woman, of course she has to bow to her man and do what he says. I think that’s the law in Mexico"

"Now that you're sober, Miguel, maybe you could shave."

"He’s her brother, right?"

Oy and oy and OY!!

"Where do the writers come up with this crap?"

As you can see, I was grinning like a fool through the whole recap.

I too thought that MA's dress and lipstick in the last scenes looked marvelous.

I laughed and loved and lack the correct words to express my appreciation to whoever thought of dressing Lupita up in the Maricruz mini-me dress. It just sent a subtle little message/dig to Octavio--who being Oblivio would never get. But I really enjoyed the effort.

Poor Solita's nameless drooling baby suffered in a side-by-side comparison with his cute cousin Lupita. I felt a little bad for him.

Those are some talkative birds at the Parakeet Restaurant.

Let me join the chorus--Where's our monkey??

Barbara

LatinaInMD, oh yes, 160. I start to be as bad in maths as Octavio.
Thanks, that explain about "La Venganza". As I know, Romero also copypasted "La indomable" - the original story. So I can only imagine how he copypasted random parts from different stories. As I once said, I want his job.
Alegria

@Alegria - I agree, Romero definitely did A LOT of copy-pasting. But the really, really bad parts in C.I. are totally Romero's own monstrosity, aren't they? Add to that the fact that Mrs. Mejia then cut out a bunch of scenes that were important, while leaving in many more scenes that make no sense whatsoever.

LatinaInMD, oh, yes. A started to panic, when realized that Romero soon will make 85 episodes from 25. And Uni shows episodes without original avances within every episode. It's makes you feel crazy, when you see some important episodes in avance, but in the next episode it was cut. WTF?
And I really can't understand why they have so many problems with editing. They will end shooting novela this Saturday. So they have sooooo many time to make episodes correctly. Sometimes I think that Romero is also an editor. He put the scenes in random order and cut some of them.
Alegria.

There once was a spoiled girl named Doris
Her screaming is starting to bore us
The guv is her dad
Octav makes her mad
Oh please shut it , Doris, for us.

LOL! That's just fab Susanlynn.

And Carlos, thanks for your submission which included the yellow jeans. :)

Alegria and Latina- Clearly, this group is WAY more talented than the CI writing team.

JdesdeNYC- Yes, Gabi/Vero was very smart about doing good works, that were very needed in the community, but also made her look good compared to her enemy. She was very smart about it. Maybe we should bring her to La Isla to tutor Mari on the art of revenge.

Good one, Vivi! They clearly left out "The Fine Art of Revenge" in Mari's intensive education.

several weeks ao Solita was examined by a doctor/audiologist. Where are the results?
Hearing adis, cochlear implants. experimental technology of some sort?

MariA, take care of your sister, at least a trip to a hair stylist, if you won't pay for medical care. You did for MiniMigi
