Corazon Indomable Cap. 63 8/8/13 “(You’re) Having My Baby. What a lovely way of sayin’ how much you love me.”

Thanks to  Adriana Noel and LatinaInMD for recapping during my vacation.
Our intrepid and lavishly-dressed heroine is fighting battles on all sides.  At the casino, partner Carola and the obsessed Emir Karim are trying to disrupt control of her empire. The Gov., the Emir, and the renovated Teo are ready to storm her heart (not to mention her body.)  “Shut Up, Doris” is an annoying gnat buzzing around, trying to keep MA away from Daddy Gov.

MariAle’s thirst for vengeance is driving her life to exclusion of anything else. Solita is on character lockdown and little Lupita rates only a plot-device mention in tonight’s action. Her wardrobe is dominated by red dresses, probably symbolic of the blood she’s ready to shed.

Casino Bar
As we open, the Gov. just left her side, and Octavio waits for his appointment with destiny.  MA takes him to the deserted bar, where they can speak privately and avoid gossip.  Their conversation is intense, punctuated with burning gazes and equally scorching kisses.  (Save this one on DVD for a winter night when the house needs some heat.)

The basic point? The Gov. wants to marry MariAle, Doris wants to marry Octavio but can’t stand MA. The only way MA will cede control of the Gov. and his proposal is for Doris to give her Tav. If Doris won’t give in, MA could end up as Tav’s mother-in-law.  He needs to take some action (not exactly his strong suit.)

We do get lots of pretty words along with the locked-in eyes and lips. Tav says the Gov. isn’t good enough to be her husband and she shouldn’t sacrifice her youth and beauty for an old man. Tav would marry MA if she loved him and if she gave him hope, he’d stay with her forever.  He’s not rich, but he can offer love.

MA makes a few tantalizing remarks in return, but also claims the Gov. would provide protection for her.  She says Tav shouldn’t pressure her, since she’s already crazy in love with him. MA mentions her daughter and Tav jumps on the chance to be a father to that daughter, one of several ironic exchanges here.

MA emphasizes to Tav that she told Doris to choose her father or boyfriend—she can’t have them both.  The only way she’ll drop the Gov. is if she gets Tav.  Our sweet Oblivio says he doesn’t understand and MA assures him that he’ll understand one day (once the vengeance kicks in).  Then she plants a regretful kiss on his cheek, saying “You’re lovely—I love you.”

Gov. Mansion
At the home of inbred island emotions, bro Andres storms in, miffed that he learned of Doris’ wedding plans in the newspaper. She loved him first, and this is how she treats him! She assures him that she still loves him, as they entwine in a lingering embrace. (Don’t know about you, but my stomach churned a little.)

Narvaez’ Hacienda
Ester, driven from her standoffish sophistication by the need for luurve, is outdoors, snuggling with her rustic swain. JA thinks she’s jest a-foolin’ with him and remembers how Octavio hurt MariCruz.  Ester says it isn’t so and breaks the news--they’re going to have a child!

JA agrees to marriage, but says they’ll live the way he does, in poverty. Ester agrees. A smiling JA doesn’t know how he deserves this good fortune. He wants to be a better man and assures Ester she took MC out of his heart. (Well, that was quick. Now he’ll have to tell Santa his heart beats boom-boom-pregnant Ester, boom-boom, pregnant Ester.)

Inside the hacienda, the lovely lonely Lucia is pondering her desperate existence with Ofelia. It’s hard without Miguel, but the ranch is doing better. She’ll sell the cattle and leave, go stay with Miguel on Isla Dorada!  Ofe agrees that absence kills love.

Lucia shares her brain wave with Ester when her cousin comes in the house. This means Ester will have to leave and return to the city, but Ester announces her love for JA has borne fruit! She won’t leave, since she’s going to marry JA and stay. Lucia thinks Ester is crazy and the feeling is returned. Lucia might think twice about her plans to fire JA once the livestock is gone.

Isla Dorada
The various plots against MariAle churn away, leaving a slight wake between the casino and the town residences.  Tav tells Doris that once they marry, the Gov. and MA will also tie the knot. Canceling their engagement is the only way to avoid gaining a stepmother. Doris is not convinced and she won’t sacrifice either man. Tav thinks he would be only too happy if Doris would release him.

The bossy little beotch goes to Daddy with her choice and her threats, but he’s ready for a wife.  She claims both men are hers and MA will have to find someone else. She says if he won’t get rid of MA, she and Octavio will go far away and he’ll never see her again! (Oh, yes, please! Is that a promise?!)

Sorry, sidebar here.  Did Doris have any education?  For example, logic or scientific method? Even basic math? Hard to tell by her actions. She obviously ruled the sandbox in whatever playground she grew up. She’s certainly Daddy’s little princess carried to a ridiculous degree.

In Karim’s quarters, he’s angry to learn MA pays more attention to the Gov. than to him. His casino purchase plans are stalled by the new law, so he asks for a meeting with the Gov. The Gov. explains new law, limits on foreign owners, bureaucratic blah blah blah.  Karim goes for the easy way in, with a 20 million dollar bribe.

The Gov. ponders.  20 million would help with schools, hospitals, infrastructure, etc.  He’ll think it over. Later, he goes even further—marriage with MA could also bring him closer to casino ownership. So convenient to have a wife both wealthy and beautiful.

Carola’s also peeved at the new law. If Karim can’t buy, then she can’t sell. She and MariAle don’t agree, since money’s not everything to MA (vengeance first!) and the two are completely out of patience with each other.  Carola is ready to kill MA with her own hands when she gets some good news: The new law is no longer an obstacle and the sale can go through.  She beat La Mendoza!

MA hasn’t heard this news yet. She’s busy tracking the IOUs from Miguel and is sure that she’ll have the ranch within a year. (This TN’s already been running a couple of years, right?)

The two pilots enter in uniform, allowing us to remember that they do work sometimes and giving us a token Ed scene.  Oblivio painstakingly explains to Ed that MA turns him away, yet tells him she loves him. Some man in her past must have hurt her terribly, so she takes it out on all men.  (Think, Tav, think! If MA were that person you’ve almost forgotten, who would be the guilty man?!?)

Something Wicked This Way Comes
Karim shares some of his philosophy—money solves everything and now he’ll own part of the casino.  Mohammad, who has one of the most thankless jobs on earth, says his highness is not thinking straight and should consider seeing a doctor for his absurd desires. The absurd, states our Emir, is what spices up life and makes it worthwhile. He may send Mohammad back home with his pessimistic outlook. This is the tipping point for the advisor, who decides to join the plots to overthrow the selfish ruler.

Carola calls MA, who’s wearing a lovely white lace sheath with pale lavender backing for breakfast at home.  She asks MA to come early for a little ceremony to celebrate an event at the casino.  Raiza stops by and tips MA off—the celebration is for the sale of Carola’s share of the casino!

Next time: Karim is attacked at the gaming tables.

La Paloma, what a great recap! Boom-boom-pregnant Ester had me cackling!!! Seriously, I have never seen a telenovela with so many babies in it in such little time. How many will there be before the gran final? What a lame direction for the Jester storyline to take…muy muy mal, writers! Lucíafer didn’t scream nearly as much as I expected her to at the news, but maybe Elizabeth Alvarez is just as tired as we are by this TN.

I started watching this episode determined to stop/delete after a few minutes, but I adored the opening scenes between María Alejandra and Octavio too much. As obnoxious as they may be as individual characters, they really do make a beautiful pareja. You can’t ignore that chemistry.

Paloma, another gem was “inbred island emotions”. Ha! If Doris does indeed marry Octavio, and MC marries el Gobernador, there’s no telling how awkward this family is going to get. Son in law in love with his wife’s stepmother, afore-mentioned son in law’s wife in love with her brother…Caray caray!

Fashion aside: Doris’s gray dress was gorgeous. Other than that, #shutupdoris. MariAle’s white sheath was pretty as well.

I applaud the writers for giving us a plot development tomorrow, although I don’t want to lose Krazy Karim quite yet. It would certainly be interesting to have him go into hiding. Could we be having an Arab Emir at Ranch Hell?

@La Paloma - glad to help. I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

And a great recap indeed. I loved this line: "(Save this one on DVD for a winter night when the house needs some heat.)" As Bailey Marie said, "You can't ignore that chemistry." Too bad Mrs. Mejia has tried very hard to ignore it, giving us only snippets of it. Or maybe the heat was too much for her, and who knows how many other hot scenes she left on the cutting room floor. Given the editing/writing issues, I think it's safe to say that the chemistry between the leads is the reason C.I. is such a big hit. (Just to see what a big difference their chemistry makes, watch the equivalent sequence of scenes in MARIMAR - practically the same dialogue, but no kissing there, none of the little touches of the hands and nose that we saw in this episode, and absolutely no chemistry, NONE, between Thalia and Eduardo Capetillo.)

As always, wonderful recap La Paloma. Had to agree with your side observations and, yeah, my stomach churned a little too with the sibling love fest. There is something seriously weird going on there. Tav might want to watch out for that unstable bro.

I'm still scratching my head over why Tav just doesn't end it with Doris. Maybe in all the drivel I missed the reason why he keeps letting her string him along by the nose? Speaking of whom, we get it, she hates MC, blah, blah, blah, but how often must we spend precious minute of our lives listening to her repeat it for the upteempth time. Loved how she walked into Daddy's office all sweetness like just any normal day, and BAM, ten seconds later, it's crazy beyotch time. Just #SHUTUPDORIS already.

Oh....an assassination attempt for government overthrow. Didn't see that coming.
Wouldn't you know that the action would finally start to ramp up the day before I have to leave on a week long business trip to India. I will be ever-so-grateful to our recappers next week to read about the juicy action. ( or let's hope juicy action).

Daisynjay

Always enjoy your writing, la Paloma. You have a great way of highlighting the emotions in any given scene.

"...scorching kisses (save this one on DVD for a winter night when the house needs some heat.)"

and

"home of inbred island emotions" (Yess, my stomach curdled too-- sooo yucky.)

plus your speculation that "Doris ruled the sandbox" but may not have had much higher education. Yes, the headstrong, entitled little miss Doris was no doubt top dog on the playground.

Still a bit flummoxed by the unrealistic romance of Ester and José Antonio. Does Ester have parents? She seems to be operating in some kind of relationship void here.

Ah well. Overthinking again. It's all about learning Spanish isn't it? ¡Por supuesto!

Oh, and a belated Happy Birthday to you, Carlos. Hope when you were out and about with the Lovely Linda the other day, that you were celebrating royally.

I really can't see Karim surviving the attack. I will miss his campy costumes and acting. The hand motion he gave Mohammed after delivering his philosophy of life was truly inspired.

Welcome back La Paloma! And safe travels Daisy! (Which part of India are you headed to?)

I didn't see this last night. This 7pm show is not compatible with my social life. But I look forward to watching Mari and Tav heat up my screen this weekend. And an assasination attempt?! Wow. Sounds like things are getting interesting.

Thanks La Paloma and welcome back. I'll bet you wish you were still away on vacation instead of watching this drivel. Oy!

Why doesn't MA just buy Carola's portion of the casino? She could sell one of the other ones if she needs the money. She's never even offered to buy it.

And I agree with Daisynjay. Why doesn't Octavio just end it with Doris? He doesn't want to marry her anyway.

This whole plot line with Ester and JA is really pointless and stoopid. Why does it exist?

How did the rules get changed about buying the casino? That is not clear.

Tks La Paloma

What is the penalty for bigamy in Mex, Mrs. Mejia has forgotten she has married Oct & MC.

I guess the only reason I endure this mierda is because of Ana Brenda, she is certainly beautiful & the clothes are also.

But where is Solita, I thought MC was going to bring her to the Isle, or did that slip Mrs. Mejia's mind?

Hard to believe this is doing well in Mex.

Thanks Paloma. You perfectly captured the details as well as the emotion of this episode. Excellent.

An assassination of he emir? Now that can't be good for business at the casino.

María A and Octavio both admit to being hopelessly in love with each other. She wants revenge. Why doesn't she just reveal her true identity, bring him up to date, pick up where they left off as husband and wife, fulfilling her wifely duty.... making life miserable for him.

Carlos

I think the best revenge MA could inflict on Octavio is to let him marry Shutupdoris.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Judy. The Lovely Linda (who by the way, has never made life miserable for me... quite the contrary) took me out to a wonderful dinner to celebrate.

Speaking of birthdays, Happy Birthday! to Cheryl whose birthday is today.

Carlos

Thank you for the recap, Paloma!
I was glad I could help with the recap, I hope you had a fun vacation.

I agree that the leads' chemistry is just right and what do they do about it? We hardly ever see them together, although the last week has been somewhat better.

This plot about Tav not marrying Doris to keep MA from marrying the Gov is just beyond ridiculous - what a twisted family! Add Andres and we have a nice bunch of crazies.

Variopinta, I don't get this tn's success, either, but it's way over the 20 points in rating and it's at 4 in the afternoon, so not exactly prime time.

Great recap!

Cathyx: I think Carola said she would never sell to MA, just bec MA wants her to.

So if both Carola and Karim sign the docs and then he dies is the sale still valid? Can you imagine what Carola will do if it isn't? She may decide to throw herself overboard!

Esther seems quite sincere but they are a couple they is surely going to explode sooner rather than later

La Paloma -- LUURVE. I LOVE it. You gave me a big chuckle for the day. And thank you for a GREAT recap. Looking forward to the action tonight. I am eagerly anticipating the big reveal when Tav finally realizes who MA really is.

The MC/Tav scene last night was smokin' hot. OMG! that chemistry. I don't give a damn about the poor writing or the never ending complaints and criticisms. I say bring on round 2, round 3, round 4,
Maricruz/Octavio, the rancho, Solita and the monkey, Tobias and the demise of bsc/evil eyed lucifer
and psycho Karim.
Bring on 200 more episodes of this great human chess game of love and revenge.
Now on to the recap.
the gringo

Thanks, La Paloma.
I agree that the popularity of this novela must be related to the good looking leads and their chemistry. The storyline is certainly bizarre , and people keep saying the same things over and over and ....

I only saw bits and pieces, but I did see the emir stabbed in the back. Que the hell ? I have no idea where this novela is going.

I , too, am missing Tobias, Solita, and the monkey ( who was less annoying than most of the rest of this cast).

Finally, let me raise a glass. ( of water..it's noon here) to my Amiga/amigo , Cheryl and Carlos , for a happy day and a happy year ahead. I have enjoyed the wit and wisdom of both of you .

P.s. I just found out this morning that despite problems with the ESL program and the college, I have my reading class and my speaking class to teach this semester and perhaps my usual reading class as well. I will add this news to my gratitude list this evening ....and if this novela gets back on course, I'll include that bit of good news...however, I am skeptical. good looks, nice clothes , and Ester at the rodeo may not be enough.

Hi Susanlynn...glad you have the prospect of teaching those wonderful ESL courses to add to your Gratitude List tonight. Even when I've had a rotten no-good day, I can always put a hot shower on the list.(really! having visited grandparents on a farm with a wood-burning stove, well and an outhouse, I still consider indoor bathrooms absolutely divine.) And of course the fun at CarayCaray.

Thanks for reminding me about Cheryl, Carlos. Lots of great people born in August!

Hey, I'm born in August, too!
On the 23rd :)

Well, I might have known, Adriana. You're in very good company, you know.

Judyb...I thought about you this morning. I know how tunes get stuck in your head, and today I was listening to the radio and on came Robin Thicke's new hit "Good Girl." WWWWWWhat a great beat. now, I cannot get it out of my brain. I wonder if it would be good for your classes. The lyrics are a bit ...naughty..but the driving , feel good beat can't be beat. As they used to say on Bandstand.....".I' m giving this song a 90. It has a good beat , and you can dance to it."

P.S. August is packed full of carayites. Our wedding anniversary is August 15.

Thanks for the tip, Susanlynn..I'l check it out. How naughty is naughty by the way?

Judyb..I can't understand many of the lyrics ( even though it is English). I just know that Robin performed the song outside to a big crowd at one of the morning show , and the host made a comment about it being controversial....objectifying women...but...I listen to that crazy beat..not the words or message. I've always been that way. I remember songs with supposedly naughty lyrics when I was a teen...who knew...I just liked dancing to them.

Happy Birthday Carlos and Cheryl!

Judy-- The song is called "Blurred Lines" although the main hook is "good girl", and it is very naughty. :)

Judyb...Pitbull also does songs with strong beats that might be good for your classes. His latest is " Don't Stop the Fiesta" with Jennifer Lopez.

Vivi...Yes, you're right .." blurred Lines". Robin also performed it on " The Voice." I'll have to listen closer...or maybe not...I want to keep on enjoying the sound.

Thanks both of you...yep, I found nothing under Good Girl but saw Blurred Lines. Still...I have some very touchy people so that's probably out. Ah well. Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez though...rocks with my younger students, horrifies my older ones-- but what can you do? They're all pretty good sports as long as I offer a little bit of everything from the 40's to 2013.

Felice cumpleaños Cheryl y Carlos.
Bring out the tequila.

Judyb..How about a little Shakira ? Some of her songs have a nice beat.

I've got a perfect song. It's Nelly Furtado's Manos Al Aire. It's in spanish, the words are clean, and young people will like it.

Thank you La Paloma, you're fantastic.
Shut Up Doris, is an annoying gnat buzzing around----Save this one for a winter night when the house needs some heat----at the home of inbread emotions----Doris obviously ruled the sandbox in whatever playground she grew up in.

Complaints--complaints--complaints
Yeah! Everything is screwed up, just like the RIDICULOUSLY STUPID
action movies that most always seem to sell out. People stand in line to buy tickets to that stupidy
and nonsense. Why not just sit back
and enjoy the hot chemistry, the beautiful fashions, the beautiful rancho and the shut up Doris meltdown that is sure to come?

For what it's worth---Marimar had been mentioned on several past occasions and so, because Corazon Indomable is [SO BAD!!!] LOL, a few days ago, I decided to watch a little of it on youtube. Thalia is a great singer and performer on stage and she had the lead in Marimar so it must be good, right? I was going to buy the dvd but after watching parts of it, I think not. I didn't like it at all. Chemistry? it wasn't there. I didn't like any part of what I saw and found it to be far inferior to
Corazon Indomable. So go ahead and laugh, I'm going to enjoy it all the way.

Happy Birthday to the August Caray people.
the gringo

La Paloma thanks for your great recap! And yes the gov's family is not right.

Cathyx - yes marrying Doris would be an interesting revenge plot for Tav. I still don't see how he keeps avoiding the fact of his marriage. Also I don't think they explained how the law changed.

Can't wait to see if Karim survives.

Oh we've danced to Shakira, Susanlynn..she's great. My all time favorite is WakaWaka.

And CathyX I love Nelly Furtado..don't know the song you mentioned but I'll look it up.

Gringo..you have the right idea...sit back and enjoy the gorgeous people, the hot chemistry, the beautiful clothes, and...for me...the conversational Spanish.

And just let the rest go. Life is too short to be looking at the downside...of anything.

Great recap! And I appreciate all the recaps tremendously because my new approach is CI is to watch solely the Octavio/MA moments and occasionally take a glance at the dresses. The recaps will make that possible.

I apologize if there's some board etiquette that says that you shouldn't announce you're jumping ship for another TN, but I just caught up on the first month of Marido en Alquiler, and I realized I do not have the patience for CI. In spite of the fact that I have to watch Marido in much worse quality (I use the Internet and Hulu doesn't carry it), I'd much prefer to watch likeable people with somewhat believable personalities dance the attraction dance around each other. (And did I mention Juan Soler?)

We'll see, of course. I may not be able to stay out of the CI water. Especially if I end up with some major task to procrastinate about.

Utah Desert- Join us for Marido recaps and dicussions on the Telemundo y Mas feed! Adriana has been doing daily recaps.

No one has commented on MA's hair in the scenes with Octavio in that red dress? I loved the style, kind of a Greek goddess look, with that string shaping the loose ponytail.

Thanks, Vivi--I'll take a look!

I can't figure out which is more irrational (oh no, CI is pulling me back in again):

1) Ester's plan to marry and have babies with a man who can't afford a jacal, much less to pay for her daily supply of eye-liner and mascara;

2) MA's proposal to Octavio that she'll marry him only if he can get the most insanely proud female on ID to beg her on her knees not to marry the governor;

3) MA's idea that somehow her actions vis-a-vis Octavio are bringing her closer to vengeance on him (especially since letting him marry Doris is the quickest and surest way of ruining his life forever);

4) Octavio's going along with an engagement to a woman he doesn't like for no particular reason that he's ever been able to articulate.

Okay, I thought of another candidate for most irrational scheme:
5) Karim's evil mastermind plot to wreak vengeance on MA by buying up Carola's shares of the casino. Will he have egg on his face when he realizes Carola couldn't even leverage her 20% into forcing MA to share an office with her! That's what he was planning on, right? Together with really tacky redecoration, and calling unnecessary meetings at inconvenient hours?

On the other hand, has anyone noticed that Carola is the one person making out like a bandit? After thinking all of her years skimming off the top and plotting to buy the casino at a bargain-basement rate were in vain, she now nets several million more than she could have ever stolen from Don Ale, and gets to screw over MA. (That second part is assuming Karim's evil redecoration scheme comes to fruition, of course.)

Utah Desert, I love your list. how about;

No one has asked Solita who got her pregnant now that she knows sign language.

Thanks Vivi. I was really hoping Karim would die, but it doesn't quite look like he will.

Why isn't Ester afraid that Lucia might kill her? She knows she's capable of it.

I'm not getting what MA is planning by being so passive about Karim as her partner. And for that matter, I don't understand what Teo is planning either. I guess I'm really confused.
