La Tempestad, Capitulo 16. August 20, 2013.

Bagre asks Damian if he really wants to leave his boat. Damian feels it’s no longer his. Bagre thinks there is still time to recoup it. Damian says he needs to distance himself from her. He will go crazy if he can’t love her freely. Bagre suggests going out for drinks.

On deck, Damian runs into Marina and asks her what’s she’s doing here. You know while you are still looking for another captain, I’m still the boss here.  Marina informs him that unfortunately he has no authority anymore. Why is that ask Damian. Are you the new captain? The crew laughs. No, Senior Fabre replies Marina. Damian reminds her to call him Captain. She tells him she has news. What news he asks. Hernan chooses to make a grand entrance. The news is that I am the new captain of “La Tempestad”. Marina needs my help and I am not going to leave her alone. Damian laughs at this. He tells Marina that Hernan has no experience in the fishing business. Hernan says he doesn’t think that “La Tempestad” is no different than any other boat and he has a lot of experience.  (What experience? You might go fishing for pleasure, but I’m pretty sure that’s about it) Anyway, Damian says this not something easy that anyone can do.  Hernan disagrees. Marina needs some modifications and increased production.  Damian tells him not to change a thing on the boat. If you do, I will kill you.  Marina tells him to stop and leave. They have a staring contest.

One of the bad cops (the one that Damian hit at the bar) passes out wedding invitations to the town folks.

Marina tells Damian that after he quit, she asked Hernan for his help. Damian is pissed and orders Bagre to be the new captain.

Hernan takes Marina back to the plant and she thanks him for all his help. The bad cop who was handing out wedding invites seeks out Hernan who is none too happy to see him.

Oso asks Bagre if he really is going to be the new captain. Bagre doesn’t want to, but the Captain ordered it. The crew notices that Lazaro is not participating in the conversation and wonder why he is wearing sunglasses. When he takes it off, they notice the bruise on his face and Oso wants to know the name of who hit him so that he can kick his butt.

Cande tells Jaz to forget about Lazaro. He’s noble, sweet and kind. If you really care about him, leave him. Let him be happy with someone else.

Lazaro tells the boys he’s conflicted. When he sees Jaz his heart jumps with joy, but then he sees her with other men he gets angry. Oso says it’s called jealously.  So this is what love is asks Lazaro. Happiness and anger at the same time?  Bagre says that pretty much sums it up. (Welcome to the club, my friend.  If you’re lucky, more happiness than anything else)

Beatriz and Rebecca are walking down the boardwalk talking about the wedding and Damian. They spot Damian who walks up and says he‘s happy to see Beatriz is up and about. Beatriz introduces him to Rebecca and she says she has heard a lot about him. He comments that probably a lot of bad stuff. Not at all replies Rebecca. Don’t believe everything you hear. I’m not all that bad replies Damian.  He makes his excuses and leaves.

Hernan and the bad cop make plans to blow up the sailboat that Damian and Estercita plan to take on their honeymoon.

Damian is getting his suit ready for his wedding and remembering his kiss with Marina. Madrina comes in and asks if he will be getting married in his father’s uniform. Yes, replies Damian. It will be the first and last time I use it. Madrina says it sounds like you are not coming back. That you are saying your goodbyes.  He tells her that he is no longer that captain of “La Tempestad”. He quit.

Rebecca visits Marina at the office and tells her that she met the handsome captain. Do you have anything going on with the captain?

Madrina asks Damian if he knows what he is doing? You are leaving everything that is important to you. That boat is your inheritance, me who is your family and the woman that you love. Damian tells her not to worry about him. He is only confronting the truth. Before meeting Marina, I always believed he could do anything. But now I understand that Marina’s love is like the stars. I could only be guided by it, but I can never reach them. Madrina thinks he is ruining his life.  Damian doesn’t think he’s ruining his life, just protecting his heart.

Marina tells her aunt a big whooper and says she has nothing going on with the captain. Rebecca says she doesn’t believe that any woman can resist such a man (smart woman, not even my 82 year old grandmother can) she asks Marina to confide in her. Finally, Marina admits to someone that after meeting Damian her life changed. Rebecca says so he doesn’t feel the same way. No, he does replies Marina. He says he loves me and I love him.

Damian and Bagre are at the bar. Bagre doesn’t want to be captain. He feels like he is betraying Damian. Damian tells him to get over it. He starts complaining about Marina and how he has never met a woman like her.

Rebecca tells Marina that she is scared of facing the world and fighting for her man. Marina says it doesn’t matter. Damian is getting married tomorrow.  Rebecca tells her breaking an engagement is easier then breaking a marriage.  If you love each other, then forget everything. Marina tells Rebecca that they are both people who keeps their promises. Rebecca tells her that she is young and beautiful. He is a spectacular man who makes you feel like a woman.

He tells Bagre that he knows Marina feels the same for him, but she won’t admit it. So he quit. Bagre is as excited as a schoolgirl that the captain is finally in love.  He thinks he should do something but Damian reminds the giddy schoolgirl that he entering into holy hell I mean matrimony with Estercita tomorrow.  Bagre tells him to cancel it. Damian did tell Marina he would but she wouldn’t accept.

Rebecca tells Marina to think with her heart not her head. Marina can’t believe what she’s hearing. Rebecca says just because I didn’t get married doesn’t mean I didn’t fall in love. Don’t let happiness escape. Marina thinks it’s too late and that she lost it forever. She didn’t want to fall in love. She tried to fight it. We just came together in each other’s arms and kissed each other with such passion.  I don’t know how I was able to stop it from going any further (I don’t know either, sister) Rebecca suggests getting out of the office.

Rebecca and Marina are having lunch and drinks. Talking about life and love.

Jose goes to visit Damian and tells him that Marina is suffering over Damian.  Damian is not believing him. Jose is not going to talk over the personal things, but professional things instead. Jose says Marina can’t get the packing plant to succeed without him.

Rebecca wants to toast Damian for waking up love in Marina’s heart.

Mercedes comes to town and finds out that Damian quit, he and Marina are in love and he is marrying Estercita tomorrow.

Rebecca returns home drunk to a scolding Beatriz.

Marina returns to her office and in walks Damian bearing a departing gift.  It’s a doll that reminded him of her when she was a little girl.  Why are you doing this asks Marina.  I don’t know says Damian.  Perhaps it’s because you are fighting destiny.  Since kids we are destined to be together and you won’t accept it.  It’s not that I won’t accept it replies Marina.  It’s that it can’t be.  No, you prefer me to leave then to accept what we feel replies Damian.  Enough, I don’t want to hear anymore says Marina.  Damian grabs Marina by her shoulders and tells her that she doesn’t want to listen because she knows he is right.  But he doesn’t know what to do for her to accept that what they feel is right.  She asks him to leave.  Fine replies Damian.  But just know that what you feel for me will never leave you and he takes his leave.

Valdivia, Hernan and bad cop are planning on putting explosives on the sailboat.

Damian is taking one last stroll through “La Tempestad” He says his final goodbye.

Drunken Tia Rebecca spills the beans to Mama Beatriz that Angelic Marina is in love with Hot Cakes Damian.  Beatriz can’t believe her ears.  Really?  Then can you believe your eyes?  Cause then you need to open them up sister.

Damian is staring at the water, minding his own business. Up walks Hernan ruining his peace and quiet asking if he picked up all his stuff off the boat and requesting another as$ whipping.  (Okay, I added that last part).  Dude, I’m not up for your stupidity today replies Damian. Hernan wonders how it feels to be on top of the world then suddenly lose it all. Damian tells him that he is man enough to confront whatever and whomever to get ahead in life. Hernan says you can do whatever, but far away from here. Since you are going on a honeymoon with your wife, why don’t you take the opportunity to move away from this town? Damian laughs at him and says that instead of his stupid comments pissing him off, they just make him laugh. You think you are a better man, on top of everyone, but the fact is a simple fisherman is.  Why don’t you explain to me what bothers you?  Hernan tells him that he wants him far away from Marina. Damian informs him that Marina will never see Hernan the way she sees him. Like a real man. Hernan the delusional believes nothing is impossible.  Especially for him. Sooner or later, Marina will figure out who her real man is. I assure you. Damian says you can say or do whatever you want, but you will realize that in her heart and in her mind there is only one man and that man is me.

At the bar, Damian is having a bachelor party.  Or a meeting. Damian tells the boys to listen to Marina and to take care of Lazaro. Bagre looks into the distance and Damian says I’m talking to you. He looks where Bagre is looking and sees Marina walking in. They meet halfway. He asks her what she’s doing there.

Marina tells him she came to see him about finalizing some important things.

Damian says it needs to wait until later. As you can see, I am having my bachelor party thanks to you. I’m glad you’re here so that you can celebrate with us. Cande passes by and Damian orders a drink for Marina but she wants a bottle of tequila and two glasses instead.  They sit at a table playing my favorite game, the staring and looking into each other’s eyes contest.  They drink their first drink and Damian asks Marina another?  Of course, replies Marina.  We are both going to finish this bottle.  The boys get excited and encourage them to drink another.  More staring and drinking.  Time goes by and most of the bottle is gone.  Laughing by all.  Lolo is cracking jokes and Marina and Damian are staring at each other.  Singing and more staring.  Game playing and more staring.  Personally a lot of smoldering staring.  I get a lot of chemistry.

Marina and Damian are alone now. Damian can’t believe that Marina would have a lot of fun with a bunch of fishermen. Marina says it doesn’t matter who you’re with, just that you’re having fun. It’s what’s inside that counts. Well, if that what’s counts, then I would like to know what’s inside you asks Damian. I would like to know what’s inside your heart. The most intimidate of thoughts.  Be careful what you ask for replies Marina. It may get complicated. What you find out, you may not like. Damian thinks that’s impossible. He likes everything about her. Marina reminds him again that nothing can happen between them. There are too many things that separate them. Damian reminds her that those obstacles that separate them where put there by her. Marina doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Damian says fine, let’s dance. They dance to “Besame”. He tells her how beautiful she is, more beautiful than ever. Their lips are inches from touching.  She thinks it’s just a magical night. He tells her that ever since the moment he met her, he has thought of no one or nothing other than her.  You have become the owner of my thoughts and my heart. Please, please don’t take the light of your gaze away from me he says as she tries to look away.  Let me lose myself in your eyes. He sings to her “Besame, besame mucho”.  Como si fuera esta noche la ultimo vez” Besame he asks. She tells him that she does not feel good. He escorts her out and Bagre comments to Lolo that there will be no wedding tomorrow.

Outside, Damian tells Marina that she is very courageous for coming to the bar.  This place is not a place for a lady like her. She tells him she is not a lady. She is an idiot. She never thought she would ever fall in love. She falls into him and he says she’s trembling like the first time he kissed her. Are you okay?  He leans in and kisses her. She kisses him back.

Manana:  The conclusion to the kiss.  La boda.  Will Damian show up?

Thank you, Gloria for an excellent recap to a hot episode.
I want to publically thank who ever is in charge of wardrobe because between Damian's torn shirts, well fitting jeans and Jose's shirts I can't take my eyes off the TV screen.
Thank goodness for Titi Rebecca who opened up Marina's eyes. I am glad that she also broke it doen to Marina's meddling mother about her niece's love for the Captain. Mom is still so blinded by Hernan and his fakery.
I love the reference to the game- staring and looking into each other's eyes contest. You could feel the temperature rising at the bar.
Tonight's episode should be interesting to say the least. Hopefully it will be the wedding that wasn't.

Gloria:

Thanks for this superbly splendid recap!

Ay yi yi, the chemistry! It was smokin' this episode. The drinking game was so funny. I thought Marina would pass out, lol. I liked DamFab singing to Marina, Besame, who wouldn't ; ) I'm surprised Marina didn't melt after all that dancing (even though they barely moved) and the almost kiss, sigh!

I liked your aside about your Grandmother.

The gift of the doll that DamFab gave to Marina was cute.

Hernan will just not give up! I am glad that Catfish is the new Capitancito. There is a big difference from yachting to fishing boat. No way could Hernan accomplish that. I wonder if Fully knows about this latest plan of Hernan's. And even if Fully knew would he stop it?

I am really liking Tia Becky! She has joie de vivre and is the voice of reason. I wish Marina would listen to her.

Lolo's got some moves! He is our Polita from AV! I wonder if he can sing?

Nice recap, Gloria. my ha ha moment ...(smart woman, not even my 82 year old grandmother can). Thank you!

It's really so absurd that Damian would still think to push through a loveless marriage just cuz Marina turned him down.

I swear, if it weren't for CapDamFab's swagger, I'd stop watching. WL delivers those ridiculous lines with passion/conviction, he simply reels me in. Tia Becky doesn't even know the Cap and she's already rooting for him. sigh

Great recap Gloria. You captured the feel of those last scenes between Dam and Marina perfectly. They were lots of fun with the crew.

The dancing reminded me of a few scenes of WL and JB dancing in Sortilegio when he tried to woo her (I must look up those scenes). He also used the proximity to his advantage, and sang a little too. Hey, if that move works, go with it!

I love Tia Becky's effect on Marina. Sometimes a bad influence can be good.

Mads- I think it's safe to say that Fulgencio would NOT approve a plan to blow up his only child, even if he enjoys slapping her around every now and then. Hernan specifically told bad cop that they needed to keep Fully in the dark about the plan for this reason.

Thank you, Gloria, for the fabulous recap. Also loved your comment about even your Grandma...

I thought Marina was really great at the bar hanging out with the guys. She seemed to be having a great time, drinking and laughing. Too bad her brain kicks in and takes over.

Love Tia Becky. At first I thought she would be a rival for her niece, but she proved me wrong. Beatriz gets on my last nerve with her idolizing that scum otherwise known as the demented violinist.

I agree that Damian marrying Estercita to save her reputation is ludicrous. Everyone knows how it came to pass, so perhaps he thought it would push Marina into declaring she wants to be with him. Unfortunately, it's probably too late for that now. I think the wedding will happen. Que lastima!

Tablet jefa - glad you mentioned wardrobe. those henley shirts the Cap sports don't look cheap either. he sure can wear them. last night, I was thinking Hernan looked very Miami vice. tee hee

Madelaine - CapDamFab singing to her was cute, but clearly it is not WL's forte. He did that too in Sorti. He should stick to acting/dancing.

Shallowgal-

You are so right about swagger, with a capital S.
I don't notice Hernan, sorry, he does nothing for me.

shallowgal- Here are two of the times he did the slow-dancing seduction move in Sortilegio:

1) When Alex first romances MJ and tries hard to get her into bed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ7373Fl-gg

2) After MJ has been kidnapped and brainwashed, and he tries to woo her back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTDaYuks9hE

They moved a little bit more than Dam and Marina did, but not much. LOL!

Gloria, this ended up being a lovely episode. You captured the beautful emotions perfectly "Their lips are inches from touching. She thinks it’s just a magical night" and "...now I understand that Marina’s love is like the stars. I could only be guided by it, but I can never reach them" - oh my.

Your witty comments: "Beatriz can’t believe her ears. Really? Then can you believe your eyes? Cause then you need to open them up sister" were great. Still chucking...Sensational from start to finish.

Who knew Marina could drink with the best of them? She matched Dam and his cronies drink for drink. Although she was a bit tipsy, it appears she can hold her liquor better than her dear tia...

Tablet jefa, Madelaine and Vivi, I love Tia too. What an amazing, generous, loving and encouraging soul.

Hi Marta! I agree (sadly) that Dam's gettin married in the morning but won't make it to the church on time.

shallowgal, yes, singing may not be WL's forte, but if he were singing to you, staring in your eyes, would you mind? ;) I know I wouldn't!

A fun episode with the wedding anvil likely to lower tomorrow.

Diana

Vivi:

You are right about Fully. Reflecting on that I think he wouldn't be on board. He just never shows her any affection.

TJ:

I agree with you about Mama Bea being blinded by Hernan and his fakery.

Shallogal:

Singing may not be WL's forte, but hey wouldn't you just melt with him whispering a song in your ear? Ay yi yi, que padre!

Diana:

Our comments crossed, great minds think alike : )

Thanks, Gloria, for that excellent, detailed recap. I was watching, but I dozed a bit..Yesterday I returned to teaching and I have to get used to standing and talking and listening for hours. I did catch the "slow dancing...swaying to the music...slow dancing ..just me and my girl." That has always been my fav kind of dancing.

So many good lines and possible titles ..."It's Complicated"...or "Besame Mucho"

The Captain is a very sweet talker, and those sweet talking guys are mighty hard to resist. Sweet William is a black belt kisser for sure. He dances slowly and kisses slowly. DING..DING..DING..We have a winner here.

Glad we're all in agreement about his DamFab-ness!!!

Hi Diana! Totally agree that DamFab won't make it to the church on time, which means we have to endure more of Daddy Dearest's ranting. Not looking forward...lol.

I seem to remember there was a slow dancing scene in CCEA too, that everyone was gaga for. Certainly a signature move for him. Was there such a scene in TdA?

That boda parade should be interesting, especially if FabioDamio is a no show.

Up walks Hernan ruining his peace and quiet asking if he picked up all his stuff off the boat and requesting another as$ whipping. (Okay, I added that last part).

LOVE IT, Gloria!

Rebecca is rapidly turning into one of my favorite characters. She adds both comic relief and much-needed common sense. I really hope she and Jose become a couple at some point.

@Madelaine, you're right, the chemistry WAS smoking hot this episode. I still think William Levy has a tendency to overact, but that bar scene was just perfect. "Besame". I MELTED!

Looks like Dam Fab and Hystercita's marriage is null and void before it even began. I like the pacing of this TN.

Ah Gloria, you got a wonderfully hot episode and you really did it justice especially with "not only my 82-year-old grandma" type quips. I can tell you that this 73-year-old grandma would have caved long ago...long, long ago.

Thoroughly enjoyed the bar scene, especially Lolo's dancing. He sure can swivel that tonnage.

Hernán, on the other hand, is such a buzzkill. I'm sure, in a different role, I would find him attractive, but he is totally repellant, both physically and otherwise, in this role.

Thanks for a recap which was just as fun to read, as the episode was to watch, Gloria.

Yes, Marina can hold her liquor. First with her Tia and then with Damian. I hope the writers don't do something stupid like have Hernan get her drunk with one or two drinks in some future episode.

I'm sure both the director and WL know he can't sing, but the little that he's done in several tns now has been used to full romantic effect. These little snippets add a touch of realism, IMO, because most guys who would sing to their woman when they're in love would probably not have the best voice, either, but the impact is - Wow!

Thanks for this great recap, Gloria. You did an excellent job of capturing the chemistry between our main couple last evening.

I was fascinated by the band playing in the bar. Early on, they were in a torpor, looking bored and almost as though they might all fall asleep in unison, but when that first bottle of Tequila was brought the boys woke up and seemed much more enthusiastic about their music.

I'm ready for a little action from Aunt Becky, she looks great and certainly talks a good game...

Carlos

Sometimes, when the antagonista is handsome and well-built, I might root for him just a little (Marcelo Cordoba, Armando Carmona, etc). This is definitely not the case with Hernan - so not appealing.

Gloria - Fine recap. Thanks for a fun read.

That white suit of Damian's father looked like a uniform. Damian should be irresistible in it. But if he can't figure out a way not to marry Estercita, I will have to tighten my beanie. It's not like she's pregnant.

Great job and thanks for filling in the WL words. I got the singing, but I've had to turn the spanish captions on to make sure I get every word he says. I haven't been a big WL fan, but for some reason this time he has me totally CAPTivated. Such heat, that I find it hard to believe it's only acting.

I also like how most of the women's wardrobe is toned down or 'normal' daywear. Seems like most novelas have the women wearing cocktail wear before 10am. The dresses are shorter than shirts and the heels are almost unwalkable. I like that Marina's wardrobe is rather conservative and could actually be worn in an office - even with the nautical theme.
Marea Primavera

Carlos:

I was wondering about that band myself, lol. They have been lackluster, but this epi, wow, they woke up. I like the sound. It's sort of like Big Band music with a touch of the Mariachi.

Anon 2:56:

I like Ivan Sanchez the actor. I really liked him in LRDS, but this character he is playing is creepy and slimy. There doesn't seem to be any redeeming qualities to Hernan.

Thanks so much, Gloria, for a fun recap! Great work!

This is my favorite episode so far. Like everyone else, I loved the chemistry between our gorgeous protagonistas last night.

And Nora Salinas's impish Tía Becky is the perfect counterpoint to clueless mama Bea.

Can't wait for the boda tonight.

So do we think that Marina and Hernán were playing DamFab when they announced that Nan would be the new capitán? Did they predict that DamFab would either take back the helm himself or pass the office on to Bagre? Pretty slick, no?

BTW, Marina was wearing her big corksoled wedges on board. Maybe Nan carried her up the gangplank (off camera).

The food continues to entice. That fresh fruit that Aunt Becky and Marina was so gorgeous and delicious looking and in such an inviting setting. I could almost smell the sea breeze and taste those strawberries.

Carlos

I've said this before, and I'll say it again.... that salsa band is wonderful!

NovelaMaven:

I wondered about that too, about playing DamFab. At least now Catfish is the new Capitancito. I'd rather see him than Hernan any day. I wonder what DamFab is going to do without his boat. That is the main thing that belonged to his Papa. It must have been hell to give it up. All for the love of Marina.

Gracias Gloria

Hot episode! Who wouldn't like a girl downing shots of tequila, things are going to get a lot hotter.

Some fotos of our smoldering couple.

Thank you Gloria for this wonderful recap!

I am loving Tia Rebeca. She was the voice of reason last night. Finally, someone who does not talk wonders about Hernan will be near Marina.

I loved this episode. The scenes at the bar were great. I loved seeing Marina getting drunk with DamFab and the rest of his crew. Loved the dancing scene too along with DamFab singing Beaame mucho to Marina.

Ah Mads, love your new pic.

As much as I love William Levy, I never find off-key singing romantic. Were I Marina, at that moment I would have been laughing rather than lusting.

Still, it was endearing in a goofy kind of way. Maybe that was the point.

I would love to spend a long, lazy lunch at that restaurant where Tia and Marina enjoyed their wine and strawberries. what a beautiful setting.

I also love the band at the club. I've enjoyed their salsa and menrengue tunes in the background whenever the action shifts to the club. Notice that no matter what time of day, the band is always playing, the alcohol is flowing, the patrons are dancing, and it's dark, in the club.

JudyB - ita re off-key singing; my ears just cringe.

Vivi - my kind of club!

Variopinta - thanks for the link. Love that Manolo Cardona's on the list. Loved him since Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Carlos
Time to replace that mint julep

I found you a tequila, lime, salt picture
It looks like someone drank the tequila though.

http://www.ehow.com/way_5378729_drinks-can-one-mix-tequila.html

I expected FabDam to break into a Dancing with the stars routine.

shallowgal- Mine too. ;-)

Am I imagining things, or has this been Mejia's least cheesy tn (at least in the last 4 years), so far? I know it can't be WL's magic, because TdA was not enjoyable to me. This just seems better than the others. Why's it doing so badly in Mexico? Maybe it really starts to descend into cheesy madness at some point?

For me, off-key singing de amor has very little to do with how it sounds and very much to do with who's delivering it. If Hernan had the vocal ability of Bocelli and sang me a love song, I'd want to heave. I'd take Damian's off-key delivery over that anytime:)

Marta - me too!

Vivi - could it be the director? Monica Miguel is pretty good.

I think it's mainly been the blacklash against Ximena Navarrete. She seems to be acting just fine to me, but I believe people were angry that a beauty queen with no acting experience was cast as the protagonist. It's completely silly, considering Jaqueline Bracamontes and Blanca Soto are beauty queens too, but most of the criticism has been targeted at her.

Great recap, Gloria. My favorite line:

I don’t know how I was able to stop it from going any further (I don’t know either, sister)

My favorite scene of the night was when Bea asks her sister: "Do you ALWAYS drink this much?!" and Rebecca says "NO! Sometimes I drink MORE!" HAHAHAHA (Hope I caught that right!)

My favorite romantic moment was when DamFab told Marina to "Besame" then when she said I don't feel well, he gently tucked her hair behind her ears and kissed her lovingly on the forehead. OMGeeee that guy is SO romantic!!!!

Thanks again, Gloria. You did a fabulous job!

Katy

@Variopinto: I had THE EXACT SAME THOUGHT (DWTS). But I guess that wouldn't be romantic if he did the samba with her. Oh what am I saying. He could make anything romantic! :)

Katy

Bailey Marie- For that reason I don't understand the hate. In addition to those beauty queens you mentioned, there's Alicia Machado (another former Miss Universe). She's not even Mexican, and she's popular! You would think a home-grown Miss Universe would get a lot of support. Something else must be going on here.

I'm not saying this is the best tn I have ever seen, but it certainly isn't anywhere near the worst or even bad, and so far I think the writing, directing, and most of the acting has been good. Something I can't say for another tn that I am currently recapping (ahem, I'm looking at you, CI).

This is one of the novelas that makes me smile. Even the villains make me smile. [Well, okay, maybe not Nereo.]

I hope this is a big fat ratings hit in the U.S. and makes oodles of money. It is great entertainment and lots of talent, imagination and sweat went into its creation, I'm sure.

Dance on, Sweet William!

Oh and Shallowgal, it is WORTH repeating -- the salsa band is great. And La Guacamaya is like an old-time movie joint -- sleazy, cool, dangerous, sexy.

NovelaMaven - nice to have you back.
ooh wouldn't it be lovely if we all got together at La Guacamaya? Every night, I either have this broad smile on my face (even at the sappiest scenes), stars/hearts in my eyes, or lol watching this tn.

Vivi - I share your sentiments too.

Thanks, Shallowgal!

Yes, I'd love for us to hang out at La Guacamaya -- but only when the crew is there too. :)

I would say about this TN, so far so good. Trying to remember if I thought FELS was ok in the beginning. I still expect LT to go downhill at some point, hope to be surprised.

I think Ximena Navarrete is doing just fine, there is some spark, whereas Blanca Soto is still sparkless. BS does seem to be getting a little better as PEAM progresses.
Could be the WL influence for XN. WL isn't great BUT he sure is HOT & he is improving immensely with each TN.
I read he has a partin a movie with Jada Pinket-Smith called Salsa. Maybe DWTS moves.

Gloria:
Sorry to be so late to today's party. Oh You did SUCH a great job on the recap. I think you caught the mood at La Guacamaya perfectly. Marina looked like she was having a blast.

Loved The band. Shallowgal and NM.

I agreee with Viví this TN has been better than expected so far.

Gracias, Gloria
EJ

I am enjoying this novela. WL's acting has improved so much since I first saw him in Pasion....in another big wig. even though WLAN is not one of my telenovio s, I loved him on DWTS and he is doing a great job at putting on the moves .

Maybe Monica Miguel is the reason this novela is staying on track , as someone mentionnned.

The Mexican version of Cheers seems to have , as my friend Dennis says..."a lot of loose change." Maybe The Patio needs a bar by the water where we can all order our favorite beverage and dance.

WLAN....????..That was supposed to be WL..gremlins in the Ipad.

Vivi,
I have been wondering about the rating in Mexico too.It is not because of WL, nor the director, nor the story. So who is the guilty ones:
The producer and the negative reports from the unprofessional, jealous reporters (like LP).
WL is super popular with female viewer, but not very much with men, we can tell by the rating on the nights when soccer games were on.
The story is very good in general, but if the writers develop it in a wrong way, viewer would not like it.And the people already has prejudiced thought that producer can not make a good TN.
For me,I will stay with WL to the end, no matter what. I do not care if he can speak or sing correctly or not.

Gloria this was a great recap, thanks.

Diana - ITA that though WL may not be the best singer, if I was in Marina's place, I wouldn't mind.

Hey, I'm late to the patio. Is Happy Hour over? Oh good, I didn't think so.

Gloria, amen sister to everything you said. What a thoroughly fun and, er, thorough recap. I loved this episode and my word lady, you certainly did it justice.

I'm happy that Tia Becky is a good egg. I was also kinda worried she try to sail into DamFab's radar.

Oh I do want to visit that club La Guacamaya. Who said it has that retro dive feel? How very true. Candi must make lots of dough to be able to pay that multi-piece band every day/night. Or maybe they work for tips, hee. I've seen La Sonora Santanera on the credits so perhaps they are the band. They are really terrific.

If Capitan Dam Fab were dancing with me and singing off-key in my ear I would hoist his halyard in a hot second. But that's just me.

Thanks Gloria!
