La Tempestad, Capitulo 16. August 20, 2013.
Labels: tempestad
I want to publically thank who ever is in charge of wardrobe because between Damian's torn shirts, well fitting jeans and Jose's shirts I can't take my eyes off the TV screen.
Thank goodness for Titi Rebecca who opened up Marina's eyes. I am glad that she also broke it doen to Marina's meddling mother about her niece's love for the Captain. Mom is still so blinded by Hernan and his fakery.
I love the reference to the game- staring and looking into each other's eyes contest. You could feel the temperature rising at the bar.
Tonight's episode should be interesting to say the least. Hopefully it will be the wedding that wasn't.
Thanks for this superbly splendid recap!
Ay yi yi, the chemistry! It was smokin' this episode. The drinking game was so funny. I thought Marina would pass out, lol. I liked DamFab singing to Marina, Besame, who wouldn't ; ) I'm surprised Marina didn't melt after all that dancing (even though they barely moved) and the almost kiss, sigh!
I liked your aside about your Grandmother.
The gift of the doll that DamFab gave to Marina was cute.
Hernan will just not give up! I am glad that Catfish is the new Capitancito. There is a big difference from yachting to fishing boat. No way could Hernan accomplish that. I wonder if Fully knows about this latest plan of Hernan's. And even if Fully knew would he stop it?
I am really liking Tia Becky! She has joie de vivre and is the voice of reason. I wish Marina would listen to her.
Lolo's got some moves! He is our Polita from AV! I wonder if he can sing?
It's really so absurd that Damian would still think to push through a loveless marriage just cuz Marina turned him down.
I swear, if it weren't for CapDamFab's swagger, I'd stop watching. WL delivers those ridiculous lines with passion/conviction, he simply reels me in. Tia Becky doesn't even know the Cap and she's already rooting for him. sigh
The dancing reminded me of a few scenes of WL and JB dancing in Sortilegio when he tried to woo her (I must look up those scenes). He also used the proximity to his advantage, and sang a little too. Hey, if that move works, go with it!
I love Tia Becky's effect on Marina. Sometimes a bad influence can be good.
Mads- I think it's safe to say that Fulgencio would NOT approve a plan to blow up his only child, even if he enjoys slapping her around every now and then. Hernan specifically told bad cop that they needed to keep Fully in the dark about the plan for this reason.
I thought Marina was really great at the bar hanging out with the guys. She seemed to be having a great time, drinking and laughing. Too bad her brain kicks in and takes over.
Love Tia Becky. At first I thought she would be a rival for her niece, but she proved me wrong. Beatriz gets on my last nerve with her idolizing that scum otherwise known as the demented violinist.
I agree that Damian marrying Estercita to save her reputation is ludicrous. Everyone knows how it came to pass, so perhaps he thought it would push Marina into declaring she wants to be with him. Unfortunately, it's probably too late for that now. I think the wedding will happen. Que lastima!
Madelaine - CapDamFab singing to her was cute, but clearly it is not WL's forte. He did that too in Sorti. He should stick to acting/dancing.
You are so right about swagger, with a capital S.
I don't notice Hernan, sorry, he does nothing for me.
1) When Alex first romances MJ and tries hard to get her into bed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ7373Fl-gg
2) After MJ has been kidnapped and brainwashed, and he tries to woo her back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTDaYuks9hE
They moved a little bit more than Dam and Marina did, but not much. LOL!
Your witty comments: "Beatriz can’t believe her ears. Really? Then can you believe your eyes? Cause then you need to open them up sister" were great. Still chucking...Sensational from start to finish.
Who knew Marina could drink with the best of them? She matched Dam and his cronies drink for drink. Although she was a bit tipsy, it appears she can hold her liquor better than her dear tia...
Tablet jefa, Madelaine and Vivi, I love Tia too. What an amazing, generous, loving and encouraging soul.
Hi Marta! I agree (sadly) that Dam's gettin married in the morning but won't make it to the church on time.
shallowgal, yes, singing may not be WL's forte, but if he were singing to you, staring in your eyes, would you mind? ;) I know I wouldn't!
A fun episode with the wedding anvil likely to lower tomorrow.
Diana
You are right about Fully. Reflecting on that I think he wouldn't be on board. He just never shows her any affection.
TJ:
I agree with you about Mama Bea being blinded by Hernan and his fakery.
Shallogal:
Singing may not be WL's forte, but hey wouldn't you just melt with him whispering a song in your ear? Ay yi yi, que padre!
So many good lines and possible titles ..."It's Complicated"...or "Besame Mucho"
The Captain is a very sweet talker, and those sweet talking guys are mighty hard to resist. Sweet William is a black belt kisser for sure. He dances slowly and kisses slowly. DING..DING..DING..We have a winner here.
LOVE IT, Gloria!
Rebecca is rapidly turning into one of my favorite characters. She adds both comic relief and much-needed common sense. I really hope she and Jose become a couple at some point.
@Madelaine, you're right, the chemistry WAS smoking hot this episode. I still think William Levy has a tendency to overact, but that bar scene was just perfect. "Besame". I MELTED!
Looks like Dam Fab and Hystercita's marriage is null and void before it even began. I like the pacing of this TN.
Thoroughly enjoyed the bar scene, especially Lolo's dancing. He sure can swivel that tonnage.
Hernán, on the other hand, is such a buzzkill. I'm sure, in a different role, I would find him attractive, but he is totally repellant, both physically and otherwise, in this role.
Thanks for a recap which was just as fun to read, as the episode was to watch, Gloria.
I'm sure both the director and WL know he can't sing, but the little that he's done in several tns now has been used to full romantic effect. These little snippets add a touch of realism, IMO, because most guys who would sing to their woman when they're in love would probably not have the best voice, either, but the impact is - Wow!
I was fascinated by the band playing in the bar. Early on, they were in a torpor, looking bored and almost as though they might all fall asleep in unison, but when that first bottle of Tequila was brought the boys woke up and seemed much more enthusiastic about their music.
I'm ready for a little action from Aunt Becky, she looks great and certainly talks a good game...
Carlos
That white suit of Damian's father looked like a uniform. Damian should be irresistible in it. But if he can't figure out a way not to marry Estercita, I will have to tighten my beanie. It's not like she's pregnant.
I also like how most of the women's wardrobe is toned down or 'normal' daywear. Seems like most novelas have the women wearing cocktail wear before 10am. The dresses are shorter than shirts and the heels are almost unwalkable. I like that Marina's wardrobe is rather conservative and could actually be worn in an office - even with the nautical theme.
Marea Primavera
I was wondering about that band myself, lol. They have been lackluster, but this epi, wow, they woke up. I like the sound. It's sort of like Big Band music with a touch of the Mariachi.

I like Ivan Sanchez the actor. I really liked him in LRDS, but this character he is playing is creepy and slimy. There doesn't seem to be any redeeming qualities to Hernan.
This is my favorite episode so far. Like everyone else, I loved the chemistry between our gorgeous protagonistas last night.
And Nora Salinas's impish Tía Becky is the perfect counterpoint to clueless mama Bea.
Can't wait for the boda tonight.
BTW, Marina was wearing her big corksoled wedges on board. Maybe Nan carried her up the gangplank (off camera).
Carlos
I wondered about that too, about playing DamFab. At least now Catfish is the new Capitancito. I'd rather see him than Hernan any day. I wonder what DamFab is going to do without his boat. That is the main thing that belonged to his Papa. It must have been hell to give it up. All for the love of Marina.
Hot episode! Who wouldn't like a girl downing shots of tequila, things are going to get a lot hotter.
Some fotos of our smoldering couple.

Don't think you will object to más Latino hunks, a few of our current players.

I am loving Tia Rebeca. She was the voice of reason last night. Finally, someone who does not talk wonders about Hernan will be near Marina.
I loved this episode. The scenes at the bar were great. I loved seeing Marina getting drunk with DamFab and the rest of his crew. Loved the dancing scene too along with DamFab singing Beaame mucho to Marina.
As much as I love William Levy, I never find off-key singing romantic. Were I Marina, at that moment I would have been laughing rather than lusting.
Still, it was endearing in a goofy kind of way. Maybe that was the point.
Time to replace that mint julep
I found you a tequila, lime, salt picture
It looks like someone drank the tequila though.

Am I imagining things, or has this been Mejia's least cheesy tn (at least in the last 4 years), so far? I know it can't be WL's magic, because TdA was not enjoyable to me. This just seems better than the others. Why's it doing so badly in Mexico? Maybe it really starts to descend into cheesy madness at some point?
I don’t know how I was able to stop it from going any further (I don’t know either, sister)
My favorite scene of the night was when Bea asks her sister: "Do you ALWAYS drink this much?!" and Rebecca says "NO! Sometimes I drink MORE!" HAHAHAHA (Hope I caught that right!)
My favorite romantic moment was when DamFab told Marina to "Besame" then when she said I don't feel well, he gently tucked her hair behind her ears and kissed her lovingly on the forehead. OMGeeee that guy is SO romantic!!!!
Thanks again, Gloria. You did a fabulous job!

I'm not saying this is the best tn I have ever seen, but it certainly isn't anywhere near the worst or even bad, and so far I think the writing, directing, and most of the acting has been good. Something I can't say for another tn that I am currently recapping (ahem, I'm looking at you, CI).
I hope this is a big fat ratings hit in the U.S. and makes oodles of money. It is great entertainment and lots of talent, imagination and sweat went into its creation, I'm sure.
Dance on, Sweet William!
Oh and Shallowgal, it is WORTH repeating -- the salsa band is great. And La Guacamaya is like an old-time movie joint -- sleazy, cool, dangerous, sexy.
ooh wouldn't it be lovely if we all got together at La Guacamaya? Every night, I either have this broad smile on my face (even at the sappiest scenes), stars/hearts in my eyes, or lol watching this tn.
Vivi - I share your sentiments too.
Yes, I'd love for us to hang out at La Guacamaya -- but only when the crew is there too. :)
I think Ximena Navarrete is doing just fine, there is some spark, whereas Blanca Soto is still sparkless. BS does seem to be getting a little better as PEAM progresses.
Could be the WL influence for XN. WL isn't great BUT he sure is HOT & he is improving immensely with each TN.
I read he has a partin a movie with Jada Pinket-Smith called Salsa. Maybe DWTS moves.
Sorry to be so late to today's party. Oh You did SUCH a great job on the recap. I think you caught the mood at La Guacamaya perfectly. Marina looked like she was having a blast.
Loved The band. Shallowgal and NM.
I agreee with Viví this TN has been better than expected so far.
Gracias, Gloria
EJ
Maybe Monica Miguel is the reason this novela is staying on track , as someone mentionnned.
The Mexican version of Cheers seems to have , as my friend Dennis says..."a lot of loose change." Maybe The Patio needs a bar by the water where we can all order our favorite beverage and dance.
I have been wondering about the rating in Mexico too.It is not because of WL, nor the director, nor the story. So who is the guilty ones:
The producer and the negative reports from the unprofessional, jealous reporters (like LP).
WL is super popular with female viewer, but not very much with men, we can tell by the rating on the nights when soccer games were on.
The story is very good in general, but if the writers develop it in a wrong way, viewer would not like it.And the people already has prejudiced thought that producer can not make a good TN.
For me,I will stay with WL to the end, no matter what. I do not care if he can speak or sing correctly or not.
Vicky84
Diana - ITA that though WL may not be the best singer, if I was in Marina's place, I wouldn't mind.
Gloria, amen sister to everything you said. What a thoroughly fun and, er, thorough recap. I loved this episode and my word lady, you certainly did it justice.
I'm happy that Tia Becky is a good egg. I was also kinda worried she try to sail into DamFab's radar.
Oh I do want to visit that club La Guacamaya. Who said it has that retro dive feel? How very true. Candi must make lots of dough to be able to pay that multi-piece band every day/night. Or maybe they work for tips, hee. I've seen La Sonora Santanera on the credits so perhaps they are the band. They are really terrific.
If Capitan Dam Fab were dancing with me and singing off-key in my ear I would hoist his halyard in a hot second. But that's just me.
Thanks Gloria!
