Thanks for this snappy recap and loved your asides, like the one about showing more of Dam Fab in slo mo diving into the water, lol.

The last part was Dam Fab finding the bomb attached to the boat, removing it by cutting it off, but a pirate diver is still in the water and shoots Dam Fab with a spear gun. The last we see if Dam Fab, is lots of blood in the water and him either swimming or floating to the surface. Oh, and Mercedes finds out from the lady of the night that comes to see her that Magadalena is dead. Mercedes loses it.

Ay yi yi, what an epi! Lots of action! Marina and Dam Fab are sure getting closer. I liked them gazing into each other's eyes.

Fully needs an anvil. Locking the window and the door, really! I just hope Ester doesn't take that whole bottle of pills. I have to give it to LC what a part she is playing!

The crew for the boat is so great. And poor Marina, I just knew at some point she would hurl, lol. I am surprised she recovered so quickly. I also liked how the crew supported Marina as soon as Dam Fab took that dive over the side.

Wasn't Hernan a hoot screaming into that CB? He screamed like a girl, lol. I swear that Fully and Herny are like Pinky and the Brain, lol.

Can't wait for tonight's epi to see how much damage that spear gun did to Dam Fab and I really hope that someone finds Ester.
 

Thanks , Gloria. I have family here for a visit, so I only got to sneak a few looks at the screen. Today is moving day for my younger daughter, so another very crazy day for all of us. I might be able to drop by later to catch the comments.n
 

When Dam Fab and Marina thought that in the middle of a gun fight was a good moment for some "us" time, that's when the camera cut to the godmother getting a feeling (think Little Orchid and Arriaga). The timing made it hard to tell if she was perceiving that Dam was in danger or that he was getting turned on!

Re the conversation for the last episode concerning different Spanish accents. I had a student from Argentina and one from Italy a few years ago. They became close and could often help each other find the word they needed translated to English. The giirl from Argentina told me that the Argentinian accent is very different from the other Spanish accents in South America. The guy I just tutored from Brazil told me that Portuguese is close enough to Spanish so people speaking those two languages can usually communicate fairly well. He is from southern Brazil which has large German and Italian populations.

The same is true of Arabic accents. Arabic speakers can identify the countries that people come from by their accents. People from Syria have trouble understanding people from Morroco.
 

Gloria, thanks for terrific recap. Wow, so the big reveal is that Bea's ex is the father of the twins? OK, so that was some news that I wasn't expecting.

The line that made me laugh the loudest - "Marina and Damian take this time to gaze into each other’s eyes." Really kids? During the gunfisht? I just loved it.

Mads, thanks for filling in the last bits. At the end of that scene where Mayuya brings Little E's clothes back and says "Well I'm pithed about the clothes but it's more convenient to have E as my friend", she opens the door and finds E passed out in the tub.

I really like the crew too. They are a hoot. By the way, Dam Fab's first mate's name is Bagre, which means catfish. I wonder what the other guys are called? Flounder and Otter?

Oh yes, Hernan needs to learn some radio protocol. He really made me cringe.

My seasick advice to Marina is 1) have the beer, 2) don't stick your head in the seafood pot and 3) stop staggering around the boat and stay low (on deck). Sheesh.

We in the Navy use butter. Really butter, lol. It stops the seasickness. It has some natural sea sick stopping components. lol.
 

Wonderful work Gloria! You got an exciting episode. I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end.

Maybe Hernan should keep better tabs on his 10+ years stalker crush, before sending assasins after people she is associated with.

In addition to what Mads filled in about the end, Mayuya finds Estercita unconscious in the tub, as Estercita had given her the spare key for just such occasions when she’s locked up by her tyrant papa. (Will she get help, or will this be how she makes her frienemy pay?) The blonde lady of the evening said she met Magdalena (still going by her real name) in some horrible place, where the women were starved and mistreated. She doesn’t know for sure if Magdalena is dead, but she strongly believes so.

 

Butter? I'll have to remember that. OK then, a nice big piece of bread with butter, or some crackers with butter. And the beer.

Vivi, I'm sure Mayuya will make Estercita pay somewhere along the line. Those two girls don't bring out the best in each other.
 

Thanks Gloria. That was a fun episode and a fun recap. I especially liked this line:

BTW, we're not sure that Magdalena is dead, only that she disappeared suddenly from that terrible place where Soraya knew her.

And it was the chubby guy, Lolo, who noticed weird bubbles in the water. Bagre (Catfish!) and Dam Fab realized bubbles meant divers and divers were capable of planting explosives under water. [I guess our boys aren't just Testosterone Toys -- they have some brain cells too.]

I wonder if Marina will take your advice, Sylvia. She doesn't seem to have well-developed listening skills. Did we ever see her put on the life-vest?

When Dam Fab gave her the gun and told her to shoot at anything that moves, I was afraid she might, for the first time in her life, do what she was told. :)
 

Gloria: Thanks for capturing this suspenseful episode perfectly. Detail laden and your slight snark "(your on a boat sweetie, in the middle of the ocean. duh)" made me laugh. Enjoyed this thoroughly. Thank you!

Ful-of-himself (thanks NovelaMaven) is quite the gallant gentlemen and father: "he tells Estercita he prefers her dead". How kind and loving. Not. Color him abusive and cruel.

The bullets weren't the only thing being fired last night - the sparks betwee Damian and Marina were sizzling.

Sylvia, I was also surprised about the girls' father. Hmmm.

Madelaine, I don't believe I have seen LC before this, but I agree that she is doing a great job. And butter for sea sickness? Who knew??

So far we have learned that all the older adults in this tn have major "history" with each other.

Mercedes and Beatriz were involved with the same man—Ariel Reverte (now deseased). Mercedes had twin daughters by him, and Beatriz married him (we don't know the order of these two things). Then for some reason, Mercedes gave one of their daughters (Marina) to Ariel and his wife Beatriz to raise. I’m guessing to protect her.

Mercedes and Ernesto are enemies from way back. She broke free from him (was he her pimp?), and he stole and sold one of her twins. Decades later, Marina confronts him head on after he rapes one of her fellow employees.

Mercedes seems to have been in love with Damian’s deceased dad, Michel Fabre.

Fulgenio remembers Michel Fabre with hatred and calls him his worst enemy, while Delfina remembers Michel fondly as a good man.

 

Marina's seasickness made me think of a few years ago when I asked for advice or what remedy I should take before we set off on a cruise. Carlos told a story of a guy who put a patch behind each ear and started hallucinating while scuba diving. Hub decided to use the patch (one) because he got seasick on our first cruise ( even though he served in the Navy). I decided on an over the counter med that started with a "B.". I was fine until we pulled into the dock in Bermuda. I used one of Hub's patches and felt fine. if we ever go on another cruise,I'll try butter.

Also, Dam's mom and Delfina knew and liked each other. Makes me wonder, were the families friends at one time?

Just when I was starting to really feel sorry for Esthercita, she plays that nasty number on Mayaya (who is no jewel, either)...

I thought Furygencio was going to have an apoplectic attack after his wife told him about the proposal - he was so over the top hysterical about it...But Cesar Evora is just too good, he made the reaction totally believable to me.

I'm pretty sure Magdalena is alive, especially if she's a twin. But is Ximena N. ready for the double duty?

These fishermen are either geniuses or putting bombs under boats is common pirates practice. When they immediately guessed what was going on I had my first "beanie" moment, but it wasn't that bad, after all.

Also, loved how Marina grabbed onto Dam Fab for dear life - considering the situation, her reaction was realistic, but he did take his sweet time comforting her, letting the other guys do all the hard work.
 

Hmmm..beer, bread, and butter...I might hurl right now while I am sitting at the dining room table. It reminds me of when I was pregnant and made dinner for my dad and hub, but I could not eat hot food. My dad for some unknown reason went right out and bought me a bottle of peach schnapps . He told me that it would settle my stomach. Just looking at the bottle made me feel queasy. (P.s My father was not a doctor...and did not even play one on TV so I am not sure where he got his advice.)
 

Sylvia, this is only speculation from me, but if Furygencio hates Dam's dad so much, it can be either for business reasons, or for a woman. So, me thinks Fury was in love with Dam's mom, but she chose Michel Fabre.

Maybe Delfina and Dam's mom were friends at one point, also.

If Bea's husband had a relationship/ affair with Mercedes, I wonder if they decided to split the twins ("Parent trap") and then Merce's twin was stolen. I don't see Merce agreeing to this, but then why is she not in Marina's life?
 

Adriana Noel, ITA that last night was the night to pull out the beanie, especially during the on-and-under-the-water scenes. I still enjoyed them though, got some good laughs out of them.

And no, Marina never did put her life jacket on!

I just remembered that we also have a Bear on the crew, El Oso. He must get hot easily because he's always ripping his shirt off. Thank goodness.
 

Oops, Adriana, I just saw your comment after I posted. Your theory about Fury loving Dam's mom makes sense. I'm sure the relationships are going to get very complicated. I'm counting on it!

Susanlynn, sometimes a beer can help because it messes with your equilibrium, which can help with seasickness. But in general I don't really condone drinking while operating a boat of any sort. It's not like Marina is doing much of anything except running around with her notebook.
 

Adriana- I like your theory about Furygencio's (good one) reasons for hating Michel and Damian so much.

By the way, I meant Ariel is deceased, not diseased. LOL!

 

Vivi, I just now saw that you think that maybe Merceded gave Marina to Ariel to protect her... maybe her pimp threatened he'll take the other daughter, too?
It's obvious Beatriz doesn't know Mercedes, so the twins came before the marriage or the affair was not important enough for Bea to know the details...Maybe Ariel was one of Merce's clients (eww, I know), since she seems to have been in love with Michel Fabre and all respectable tn ladies only love once...

This background story is much more interesting than the whole Lazaro - Jasmine boredom, I hope we get a few flashbacks to understand things better. I'm sure when all is said and done everyone will be somehow involved with someone from the past.

 

Gloria - thanks for the recap! I was impressed as well with Dam Fab's shirtless dive, I had to rewind a few times, and pause midway. Slow mo would've been awesome.

Madelaine - I'm lol at "Pinky and the brain."

Adriana Noel - hmmmm, Ximena pulling "double duty" on her maiden voyage??? why on earth would she wanna do that, much less be allowed to?
 

The 'gazing into each other's eyes' amidst the chaos scene is so classic, and so corny, I was chortling.

I have to say the scenes on and under the ocean are spectacularly shot, considering this is a tn.
 

Gloria, thanks so much for the fun recap ...I totally, totally agree that Dam's dive into the ocean should have been in slow motion with a gratuitous close up !

And I also agree with shallow-gal that the eye-gazing during the chaos was "tn-classic" ... About an 8.5 on the tn corny scale.

These relationships are complicated aren't they. So it seems that everyone knew everyone else. I am wondering if Fully had a thing for Mercedes and she rejected him.

I am also glad that Cande stood her ground with Fully. I can't stand that Neoeo guy. What a putz.

Oh, is Oso, Latin Lover? That guy is hawt!

I noticed the Argentinian accent when I first heard Rene Strickler speak in DA, and then later with another actor, I forget what TN it was now, but Italians speak musically, if you know what I mean. It is smooth, rapid fire sometimes, but the diction is quite clear. Maybe that is why I understand it better ; )
 

Thanks Gloria. Another jam-packed action episode which you rendered faithfully. Not your fault your recorder stopped too soon!

I'm wondering how young Magdalena was when she "disappeared" from the awful place she was kept. For some reason I keep thinking she will turn out to be Fulgencio's adopted daughter. But she would have had to be pretty young for that to have happened. Maybe a wee tyke that he brought home for his browbeaten wife to raise? I know, I know, I'm overthinking this.

If that was Levy diving, and not some stunt man, then I am truly impressed.

Had to put on my beanie to believe that he could stay underwater that long, but not complaining...very exciting episode from start to finish.

I would have been okay with the annoying, whiny Estercita meeting her maker, but I assume she'll be rescued. Can we hope that her near-death experience will cause her to get a new coiffure? Someone in the hair and make-up department really has it in for her!

They say that danger and the presence of death makes you verrrrry lustful. Something about wanting to plant your seed before your permanent exit from planet earth. So yeah, makes sense that Marina and Dam Fab were feeling especially hawt last night while those bullets were whizzing. And us right along with 'em!


 

yes, I thought I saw Latin Lover in the disco fever segment of this episode before the invading pirates hit the fan. I don't know what they called him.

Hmmm..will the twin be bad and Dam Fab think she is Marina ? Now, the theme music for The Patty Duke Show is running through my brain..." There's Cathy who's lived most everywhere from Zanibar to Barkley Square, but Patty's only seen the sights a girl can see from Brooklyn Heights...What a crazy pair."

 

Judy- Considering that Magdalena and Marina are identical, and Soraya recognized Magdalena from a picture of Marina, I think we can rule out Estercita as the lost twin. Plus, it sounds like it wasn't that long ago that Soraya saw Magdalena, and Estercita obviously grew up her whole life with Fully and Delfi. Someone also pointed out that Estercita is only supposed to be 18, while Marina/Magdalena are in their early-mid 20s.

It will be interesting to see XN, who is already challenged in the acting department, take on dual roles. Jacki Bracamontes (also a former beauty queen turned actress) didn't do a bad job of it in Sortilegio, although they killed off her bad (promiscuous drug addict) twin quite quickly.

JudyB, I watched some program, can't remember which it was, where Levy said he did his own stunts in this one. He grew up by the ocean and did a lot of breath-hold diving when he was young. Yep, pretty impressive.

SHALLOWGAL, I always forget to ask you, but please tell me, who does Marina's yellow dress from the entrada remind you of? She has many outfits, but there is one brief scene that takes place on the dock :)

 

I heard ginger was also good for seasickness. My husband was in the navy & got seasick, but he was on a sub so if is was submerged he was ok. If it was real rough he was ok, it was the wave hangers that got him.
 

WL was born in Cuba & moved to Miami when he was 14 so I suspect he is an excellent swimmer.

Shallowgal, yep, it looks a lot like Bianca's dress, even if technically it has another design.

A few weeks ago I was shopping and found a dress similar to Bianca's. It goes without saying that I had to try it on, but I'm 5.2, I could never pull of that kind of dress...

Ah well...I could never pull of a JC Canela or W Levy, either, so all is good :)

WL did do the diving scene and the scenes underwater. They brought a stunt double to the set but WL wanted to do the scenes himself so they didn't use the stunt double. WL said that he felt bad for the stunt double because they had brought him to the set for nothing.

Viv, you are always SO good at deciphering all the relationships. These are complicated back stories for characters we don't know that well yet. I'm glad to hear Ariel is Marina's dad (this sounds like a Little Mermaid recap!) because otherwise, with Mercedes hots for Dam's Dad, I was afraid Marina and Dam Fab could be brother/sister and I just couldn't take another one of those story lines after Elisa and Dam Fab I (TdA). Oy!

Carlos, believe it or not when Estercita stepped out of her clothes I thought of YOU and our other male viewers and imagined how appreciative you probably were. She has some figure.

One of my guffaw moments was when Dam Fab was doing a repair (on the outrigger?) in a supine position. All the more to show off his amazing bod, but it didn't seem to be the best position for the job. But hey, he's the captain, who am I to criticize?
