La Tempestad, Capitulo 7. August 6th 2013. Hysterics, Sleeping Doctor, Red Pants, and A Wounded Captain!
Damian removes the bomb from the bottom of the boat. He is shot with a spear gun. There is a lot of blood. He floats to the surface.
Marina and the crew are worried about Damian who still hasn't swam up to the surface. Bagre, Oso, and Lagarto will dive underwater to find out what is happening.
Mayuya sees that Esthercita has taken pills to kill herself. She checks Esthercita's pulse and sees that Esthercita almost doesn't have a pulse. She is about to go and tell someone but thinks about twice in her evil mind. Why should I care? I won't tell anyone! Esthercita took those pills because she wanted to. If she dies, then I'll have Damian! (Only in your dreams, Mayuya and maybe not even there)
Bagre, Oso, and Lagarto dive underwater. They find Damian. Lolo throws a flotation device into the water. The crew tries to get Damian aboard the ship.
Mercedes cries and screams - Noo! Noo! Noo!. Alicia hearing the screams comes over to see what is the matter. Soraya says that all she did was tell Mercedes that Magdalena could be dead. Alicia tries to calm Mercedes down. Soraya only said that it was possible that Magdalena could be dead but she did not assure it. There is no reason to believe that Magdalena is actually dead, says Alicia. Mercedes asks Soraya if she saw Magdalena's corpse. Soraya says that she didn't. Maybe Magdalena escaped from that hell hole with someone? Anything is possible. But I can't say for a fact that Magdalena is dead, says Soraya.
Mayuya tries on some lipstick. She always has loved the color. But Esthercita never let her borrow it. When she hears someone coming, Mayuya turns on the hysterics. It's Delfina. Delfina starts the hysterics upon finding her daughter unconscious in the tub. Mayuya tells Delfina that Esthercita took pills. Delfina continues with the hysterics until she finally tells Mayuya to not just stand there and to go and get help. Mayuya runs off to go and get help.
Mercedes now has hope. She will dedicate herself to finding Magdalena. She will look under the rocks if it is necessary. Soraya finds out that Magdalena is Mercedes' daughter.
Damian is now aboard the ship. Lagarto says that they have to remove the spear. Marina doesn't think it is a good idea because Damian could bleed to death. Lagarto says that it is the best thing to do or else the wound could get infected. Oso tells Marina that they are sailors and they know what they are doing. Lagarto asks Lazaro to bring him some rum. Lagarto had also sent Lolo to go and get something. Lagarto is given the bottle of rum and he makes Damian drink some. Damian is given something to bite on as Lagarto attempts to remove the spear.
Dr. San Miguel (the town doctor) is asleep on the job. Mayuya wakes him up. The doctor apologizes for being asleep on job and says that since he did not have any patients he had a glass of wine with his lunch. (How unprofessional of him. He was not only sleeping on the job but also drinking) Mayuya hurries him up and puts on his suspenders. Dr. San Miguel doesn't want Mayuya to rip his suspenders. Mayuya says that his suspenders are too old and he should buy new ones. Dr. San Miguel wants to go to his room. Mayuya tells him that he's not going anywhere. She asks him where his shoes are. He doesn't know. Mayuya finds them and offers to put them on him. Mayuya finally tells the doctor that she and Delfina found Esthercita in the tub. The doctor asks if Esthercita fell inside the tub. Mayuya tells him that Esthercita tried to killed herself. If we don't hurry up we will find Esthercita dead, says Mayuya. Dr. San Miguel agrees that they should go but before they leave he makes sure that he has his hat and jacket with him. (Really Dr. San Miguel??? All you need is your little black bag)
Mercedes thanks Soraya for having come over. Mercedes doesn't want to cause problems between Soraya and the man who Soraya lives with. She asks Soraya if she can come over again some other day. Soraya says that her man is on a business trip. He goes on business trips regularly. He sometimes is gone for weeks. He does check up on Soraya via cell phone but since they have been living together for some time now he trusts Soraya. Soraya isn't willing to give up the good life that her man gives her. Mercedes now knowing that Soraya has free time wants Soraya to take her to the place where Soraya was held captive. Mercedes wants to go now.
Hernan is on his radio. He wants to know what happened. Did the divers remove the explosives? asks Hernan. No. Damian Fabre dived underwater and attempted to remove the explosives but was shot with a spear, says Valdivia. Did they kill him? asks Hernan. I can't say for sure if he is dead or not because that same diver was wounded with a gunshot and was taken to the doctor that attends to our personnel, says Valdivia. Hernan asks Valdivia if the ship blew up. Valdivia tells him that it did not. Hernan orders Valdivia to not do anything more and to leave the area. Hernan says that he has to get Marina out of there. He gets up and leaves and I just noticed that he is wearing red pants. Where is the fashion police??
Damian is now in his cabin. Bagre will keep on trying to get help via the radio. He sends Lagarto and Oso out on deck to be on the lookout just in case the pirates come back. Before leaving he tells Marina to stay with Damian's gun because if the pirates come on board she will need it. Marina says that she will respond for Damian's life. Bagre leaves. Damian wakes up and he asks Marina what she's doing there. Marina tells him that she is taking care of him. Damian says that no woman has ever confused him as much as she has. When he thinks that he knows her she surprises him with something unexpected. Marina says that she isn't like other women. Marina tells him to stop talking so he won't weaken. Whatever you say, Captain! says Damian. Damian tells her that if he dies he wants her to have his job. Marina thanks him but says that she is not interested in that. She wants him to rest so he will recover quickly. Damian thinks that she wants for him to recover quickly so he can go out and fish again. Marina says that it is not because of that. He has to recover so he can get married to Esthercita.
Delfina has gotten Esthercita out of the tub. She wants to keep Esthercita awake. Mayuya and Dr. San Miguel arrive. Dr. San Miguel sends Mayuya to go and get things that he will need. Esthercita is put on the bed and Dr. San Miguel examines her.
Nereo reminds Fulgencio that they have a pact. He whines to Fulgencio that it also cost him to buy those two girls and he doesn't like that Candy got her way. He tells Fulgencio that he should have slapped Candy around. Fulgencio says that it is the first time that Candy has gotten out of line. He says that it isn't convenient for him to go to the extreme. Candy knows things about him. Nereo says that all Fulgencio has to do is set the bar on fire with Candy inside and problem solved. Fulgencio doesn't think that it is a good idea. It could cause a scandal and the townspeople could get upset. Their business could come to an end. Nereo whines again about having invested his savings. The girls are about to arrive and Nereo wants to recover what he invested. Fulgencio says they will deal with that later. Fulgencio tells Nereo to take the two girls to his house to live with Jazmin. He gives Nereo some money so he can support them. Nereo notices a car approaching. Fulgencio tells Nereo to hide because he doesn't want to be seen with him.
Soraya doesn't want to go back to that hell hole. Mercedes assures Soraya that nothing will happen to her. Soraya will be with her after all.
Toribio (the good cop) tells Fulgencio that Esthercita tried to kill herself. Fulgencio is of course furious and of course he blames Damian again.
At church, Eusebia is worried about Damian. She feels that Damian is in danger. Padre Tomas suggests they go to the harbour to see if they have any reports from the ship.
Marina puts a wet cloth on Damian's forehead. Bagre comes and tells Marina that he can't get ahold of the harbour via the radio. He doesn't know if they have a bad signal or if the radio got damaged during the shootout. Marina says that Damian has a high fever and could die. Bagre tells Marina to not mention death on the ship. Marina doesn't understand why they aren't moving if they aren't shooting at them anymore. Bagre says because they have to catch the fish so the boss will be happy. Marina tells him not talk such nonsense. She tells Bagre that if Damian dies it will be his fault. Bagre says that if Damian dies it will be Marina's fault. He knew that something bad would happen when Marina got on board the ship. He accuses Marina of bringing bad luck. Marina says that she did not know about he pirates. Bagre says that she did because Damian told her about the pirates and she did not believe him. Bagre tells Marina that if Damian dies he will throw her and her contract to the sharks.
Fulgencio comes home and wants to know what happened. Delfina says that in the past few days she has seen her house become a hell hole (I find that hard believe. I am sure that it was always a hell hole with Fulgencio as your husband, Delfina) Mayuya tells Fulgencio that Esthercita took pills. Delfina says that Esthercita tried to kill herself because of all the horrible things that Fulgencio told her. Delfina says that if Esthercita dies it will be his fault.
Soraya and Mercedes are in the car. Soraya points on the house where she was held captive. Soraya is distressed and cries.
Fulgencio pushes Delfina off of him and onto the sofa. Fulgencio tells Delfina not to blame him after all he was right in all he told Esthercita. Because Esthercita turned out to be a slut. Delfina tells Fulgencio to quit tormenting her with his hate for Damian. Fulgencio blames Damian and Michel for everything that has happened to him. Dr. San Miguel comes out of Esthercita's room. Delfina wants to know if Esthercita will survive and go back to being who she was before all this happened. Dr. San Miguel tells Delfina that Esthercita will survive but for her to go back to being who she was before all this happened will depend on her and Fulgencio.
Hernan is in his fancy yacht on his way to save Marina. Through his binoculars he spots the ship.
Bagre is tending to Damian's wound with Marina's help. Marina asks why he is opening the wound. Bagre says so he can see how it is in the inside. He tells Marina to go and get the materials that he needs to sew the wound. Marina leaves. Bagre tells Damian how Marina is the woman that is good for him because she has the same attitude as he does. Damian wakes up and asks for Marina. Bagre says that Marina is fine. He tells Damian that Marina has been by his side and is worried about him. Bagre wonders if Damian and Marina are falling in love. He says that it can't be because it would be like oil and water coming together.
Padre Tomas and Eusebia return to the church. There was no report at the harbour from the ship. Eusebia still thinks that something is wrong.
Esthercita tells Mayuya that things won't change. Mayuya tells her that things will change. Mayuya tells Esthercita that she saw Fulgencio affected by what she did. Esthercita says that she thought about everything. Even running away with Damian from the town. But she knows Damian won't want to leave. He has everything here - his job, his memories, his madrina Eusebia. Esthercita wants to die if she can't marry Damian.
Mercedes tries to calm down a distressed Soraya. Soraya tells Mercedes what a horrible experience it was living in that hell hole. Mercedes says that it hurts her to think that Magdalena lived that same horrible experience. Soraya tells Mercedes to look for Magdalena and rescue her. Mercedes says that that is her intention but she needs to find a way to go unnoticed so the other girls could trust her and give her information. Soraya says that she knows that Mercedes will find a way to rescue her daughter. Soraya then asks about who the woman in the picture is that she showed her. Mercedes says that it is Marina, Magdalena's twin.
Marina comes out on deck and asks Oso for the materials she needs. Oso wants her to go back into the cabin. Lagarto notices a yacht approaching and tells Oso. Oso sees that it is not the pirates and tells the crew not to shoot unless he tells them to. Oso tells Marina to get back inside the cabin. Marina says she won't leave until she gets what she needs. Oso tells Lolo to give Marina what she needs. Lagarto notices that the yacht is too fancy to be the pirates. Oso says that it is a just your regular yacht. Lagarto says that either way they should be on alert. Oso agrees.
Damian daydreams about him sitting on the ship with a guitar in hand. He then daydreams about the past recent events in his life involving Marina. Marina comes into the cabin with the materials. Marina will sew the wound. She will need help though. She tells Bagre to open the wound so she can pour the rum inside. Bagre opens the wound and Marina pours the rum inside. Marina tells Bagre to put the string inside the needle. Bagre does as he is told. Marina takes a sip of the rum to get the courage she needs to sew the wound. Marina sews the wound.
Hernan tells the crew not to shoot. He says that he's Marina's friend. He says that he was told that Marina was aboard the ship. Hernan is told that Marina is tending to Damian. Hernan asks what happened. Hernan is told that Damian was wounded by pirates. Hernan asks if Marina is ok. Lolo says that she is because Damian protected her with his body. Hernan wants to see Marina. Lazaro will go and ask if Hernan can come on board. Oso tells the other crew members to keep an eye on Hernan. (It is such a shame that they didn't shoot at Hernan and ask questions later)
Marina has sewn the wound. Damian will have a scar though. Bagre tells Marina that she did a good job. Lazaro comes into the cabin and tells Marina that Hernan is asking for her.
Nighttime. Eusbeia is doing some ritual at her house. She sees an injured Damian in a bowl of water.
Marina is now on Hernan's yacht. She talks to Hernan. Hernan says that fortunately nothing happened to her. She tells him how everything has been a nightmare. She asks him how he found out. He tells her that he found out because he went looking for her at the packing plant to ask her out to eat. Hernan tells Marina that she shouldn't have gotten on the ship and gone sailing with the sailors. Marina says that she wanted to make sure that Damian did his job. Hernan tells Marina that she put her life in danger. He tells her that all she has to do is give orders. Marina says that things haven't gone as she has planned. It has been hard to give orders because she is a woman. Marina wonders who the guys are that shot at them. Hernan says that he has no idea (Liar). Hernan is sure that the sailors are mixed up in sort of trouble. He says that they are dangerous. Hernan then talks about how Marina and him are from different worlds. He tells Marina that this isn't a place for Marian. He tells Marina that he has many companies and could offer her another job. He asks her what she thinks about his proposal.
At the cabaret, someone named Yoshio sings a beautiful song. When he finishes he approaches Mercedes. Yoshio noticed that there is something wrong with Mercedes. Mercedes says that she has too many problems. Yoshio offers his help. Mercedes says that no one can help her. Yoshio tells her to not say that and tells her not to give up. Mercedes says that she never has given up but sometimes solutions aren't easy to find. Yoshio says that solutions could be hard to find but not impossible. Mercedes thanks him for his words.
Lagarto tries to communicate with the harbour via the radio.
Damian wakes up again. He asks about Marina. Bagre tells Damian how Marina sew his wound up after drinking some rum to get the courage. Bagre tells Damian how Marina has been worried about him. He says that Damian has also been worried about Marina because he has been calling out her name. Bagre says that it looked like they were two lovebirds. Damian tells him not to talk nonsense. He asks where Marina is. Bagre says that some rich friend came looking for her and she went with him. Damian says that it is better that she left with her rich friend after all they are so little for her. Marina comes into the cabin and tells Damian that he's mistaken. She won't give up easily. Damian is surprised to see her. He imagined her returning to shore with her friend. Marina says that her commitment is with the packing plant and no one else. Damian says of course thats why you were taking care of me because if I die who will give service to your packing plant. Lazaro comes in and tells them that Lagarto was able to get ahold of the harbour and reported that Damian was injured. They are now on their way to shore. Marina says that it is good news. Damian asks if the ship is full of fish. Bagre says yes. Damian says that no wonder it is good news for Marina.
Fulgencio has found out that Valdivia and Lara work for Hernan and behind his back. Valdivia explains that Hernan called them and told them that it was about a job that Fulgencio was interested in. Fulgencio doesn't know what Hernan's plans are but he feels like Hernan wants to get him out of the business and he won't allow it. He tells his goons Valdivia and Lara to tell him whatever they see and hear. Fulgencio says that Hernan will pay for having tried to betray him.
Dr. San Miguel thinks it was so kind of Hernan for having called him and brought an ambulance to the shore. Hernan says that when he found out that Damian was injured he offered to bring him to shore in his yacht but the crew didn't want him to do that. Dr. San Miguel tells Hernan how the crew members are brutes but are good people with good hearts. Hernan says that he also offered to bring Marina to shore but Marina didn't want to come to shore with him. Hernan says that Marina was worried about Damian's health and the packing plant is so important to her. Dr. San Miguel understands that after all it is Marina's job. He is sure that Marina's only interest in Damian is the packing plant. Hernan also doesn't think that Marina has any other interest in Damian that isn't the packing plant. (Umm yeah Marina is only interested in Damian because of the packing plant, Hernan)
Delfina is once again ruining Fulgencio's meal by talking about Damian. Fulgencio ends up saying that Esthercita can do what she wants. Esthercita stopped being his daughter the moment she betrayed him with the son of his worst enemy. Fulgencio tells Delfina that he will never give Esthercita and Damian his blessing and he also won't be giving her to Damian at the altar.
Mayuya tries to get Esthercita to eat. Delfina comes into the room and tells Esthercita that Fulgencio will allow her to marry Damian. Esthercita is happy with the news.
Damian tells Marina that he isn't feeling that bad anymore and she can go rest. Marina says she won't go anywhere. Damian still has a fever. Damian says that Marina is so stubborn. He asks him if she is a nurse. She says that she almost is like one. She did sew up his wound after all. She says that it wasn't easy to sew up the wound. Damian tells her that she shouldn't have done it then since no asked her to. Marina calls him an ingrate. She says that she can't judge him because he did risk his life to save her from the gunshots. Damian says that it was his obligation to protect her after all she is the boss. Marina says yeah it was so professional on your part. Damian says that the scar isn't that bad. He tells her that she should have been a seamstress maybe she would have a better attitude. Marina says that if Damian wouldn't have been a captain she would have a calmer life having someone else as a captain. Damian says that it is a shame that we can't always get things the way we want it. Damian would have preferred to have a boss that didn't yell so much. Damian tells Marina that he has bad news for her - she won't be able to take his ship away from him since he fulfilled the contract. Marina agrees with him. Damian tells Marina that what distinguishes him is that even though he is poor and ignorant he is a man of his word. Marina says that she can see that. Damian tells Marina that she is the first crew member that is a woman to get aboard his ship. He says that he has to admit that she did not do such a bad job. He tells her that he thinks that he is proud of her. He tells her that she has permission to get aboard his ship again. She thanks him for his words and knows what it means for him telling her this. Thank you, Captain Fabre, thank you!
Avances: Hernan wants to kill Damian. Hernan visits Damian at the hospital.

Marina can close a wound, who knew??? I had a hard time watching the removing of that harpoon. Ewwww. I had to laugh though when Marina took a slug from that rum bottle, lol.
Hernan has got some avocadoes, doesn't he? He is stalking Marina even out at sea! I am glad Marina stayed with Dam Fab.
Dam Fab and Marina are a lot alike. People of their word, and the looks they keep giving each other! They are both so stubborn.
I like Dam Fab's madrina, she is better than Opalina from AV, I must say. She has visions, and Opalina only had snails : )

Oh, and Fulgencio really thinks he is the big cheese. I really think that Hernan is the boss of him. I can't stand this Neneo guy. I hate what he is doing to Jazzy and what he will probably do to those other girls he just got. He needs an anvil really bad and I hope he gets one! I am worried about Cande now, but maybe Fully can keep a tighter rein on that putz.
Thank you for addressing the red pants right in the title! From the moment I saw them, I thought, "Hernan is channeling Howard Wollowitz!"

Ok, here comes my critic, I hope you don't kill me. I enjoyed the episode, but the beanie moments are coming
The whole scene with Marina sewing the wound was so unbelievable, but what I found more amazing was the fact that they only showed the EXIT wound when she did that awesome job, but we know from the previous scene that Dam had a nasty ENTRY wound, too (Duh!) So, what happened with that? Also, from the amount of blood he lost in the water (they really exaggerated with the ketchup), that should have been their main concern, right?
How did Hernan "find out" about the attack on La Tempestad when Bagro said that they hadn't yet been able to get in touch with the outside world? And why isn't anyone questioning this?
Also, would a man's man like Bagre care about his Captain falling for the pretty girl? I swear to God, sometimes they give this men such unbelievable dialogs...
And how about that stupid talk Marina had with the crew on deck, when she wanted to get some stuff to help cure Dam? Wouldn't it have been easier to make them understand why she needed them if she simply said they were for the Captain? Instead she kept repeating the same line, which was idiotic.
Ah well, I had a few other beanie moments while watching, but I can't remember them right now...

I'm very loosely following this TN but greatly enjoying the funny and detailed recaps and comments, thank you all!
Returning to yesterdays discussion about seasickness remedies, when I was working on a cruise ship some gusest used a kind of flexible wristbands which stimulated acupressure points, for some it worked for some don't.
I didn't had one so used an advice given by some fellow crew members and strange as it seems it actually worked really well, and it was - eat green apples -.
If you eat a few slices of fresh green apples you don't get sick or even queasy and if you are already sick - because you didn't know this- it settles your stomack. :)

Hola Mauricio, ¿qué tal? I'm amazed at your ability to get all the names down, know who the bad cops are and who the good ones are and keep this all straight. And the detail was incredible. You put in a lot of work, my friend.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing. I'll bet Fulge has a full-blown case of GERD the way Delfina is always bringing up his favorite subject at meal time.
When I saw the red pants I thought Peter Frampton!! Yes, because once when I saw PF live he wore bright red pants and it scarred my eyes for life. Hola everybody. I swore I wasn't going to watch this, WL or Not. However, with QBA on its last legs and sinking evermore into ridiculousness, I kinda lurked around the tv (after all if you're already sitting there at 9 and 10 is a must, for reasons of recapping, why not).
I must say, even though it is standard girl meets boy, boy and girl hate each other at first sight, they hate the fact they are attracted to each other and both have jealous somebodies determined to keep them from consumating their attraction, it's pretty good. And of course we have to have some evil embroglio and some mystery relationships.
The recaps have been stupendous and congrats to our first time out of the gate, Mauricio. And Gloria, I think this is the first time I've read your work. What a team to bring this alive on the page.

Mauricio: Excellent recap. Loved the detail which is so important for me as it takes a while for me to learn the players' names. One of my favorite lines was:(I find that hard believe. I am sure that it was always a hell hole with Fulgencio as your husband, Delfina)". Fab! (as in damn fabulous) :)

It seems to me that the Patio started in those Abysmal Passion Pits. (We needed it to come to terms with our loss after the magic of the first week or so vanished and we were left with Fluffy and his team of simian writers.) From there it moved to AV.
At El Tal, it was evident from the start that there were no writers. (Was it Blue Lass who suggested it was a sort of multi-species improv?) If our expectations were any lower, the Patio would have had to move underground (to the Storm Cellar, say).
This is from memory. Documentary evidence to the contrary would, of course, be examined carefully and probably discarded as annoying and pedantic.
Rest assured. The Storm Cellar will do what it can to accommodate you and your drooling needs.

I am absolutely loving this TN, especially Cesar Evora’s acting. His scenes with Delfina remind me of Dionisio/Agustina’s horrible marriage in AB. Even William Levy has won me over. The ship crew is still boring and cliché to me, but Dam Fab and Marina’s chemistry is excellent.
Poor poor poor Estercita. I was mortified by Mayuya’s reaction to her suicide attempt. Regardless of her personality, Estercita is a victim of domestic abuse, plain and simple. She needs a friend to talk to, and it’s sad that her only option is Mayuya.
I wonder how long the writers will drag on this Ester/Damian engagement. As bad as their marriage would be, I’d almost rather she married Damian to get away from her father. When Foolgencio mentioned sending Estercita away, I had to wonder…would he be that despicable to sell his own daughter?

Shallowgal, I guess the article explains it all. Televisa expected Levy to be the next Fernando Colunga, but the truth is he's not that great as an actor. He's smoking hot and that helps, but after La Tempestad didn't gain the ratings they were waiting for, it's obvious they consider it a failure.
I don't think it's Levy's fault, though. TdA was idiotic, there is only so much that Will and Maite's chemistry can do and with La Tempestad they chose a total newbie as the heroine and they gave him that awful hair that enraged all his fan base. There are several articles about that.
It is also normal for the actor not to want to renew his contract. Levy is getting bigger in the US and a tn requires a lot of hard work, long hours etc...

TDA enjoyed moderate success? It was a flop in Mexico. A huge one.

Hi!I am very new here,I mean new in leave comment, but I have been reading this blog for over 14 months.After falling in love with WL in DWTS,I started watching TN on youtube and used Caray blog to understand it.I am so glad that I still find many old "friends" who are as crazy about WL as I am.Two things I needto tell you all are:
