La Tempestad, Capitulo 9. August 8 2013. Hernan Plays The Violin, Damian Plays The Guitar, Marina Has A Jealous Snit.
We begin where we left off the previous night. Damian has brought Marina a bouquet of red roses to thank her for having saved him from jail and curing his wound. Marina thanks Damian for the roses and tells him that she has to go to packing plant. Damian offers to accompany her to packing plant. He may not have a fancy car but it will be his pleasure to accompany her. Marina prefers that he rest after all he just got out of the hospital. Damian will do as Marina says just so he won't argue with her so early in the morning. Damian will go to La Tempestad to see the unloading of the fish. He excuses himself.

Mercedes recalls some of the most recent events in her life. She opens a drawer and takes out a photo of her twins when they were babies. "The time of the truth is near and I won't be able to hide it. Everything comes." she says. She picks up the phone to make phone call.
At the packing plant, Hernan has come to see how Marina is doing after the complicated day she had the day before when she was out at sea. Marina tells Hernan that she's fine and tells him that he is so well-mannered. Hernan responds by telling her probably the only truth that will come out of his mouth - he tells her that he is not so well mannered, he's egotistic and self-interested. Hernan tells Marina that a gentlemen should do these things without wanting something else. Marina doesn't understand what he means. Hernan tells her that he didn't only come to see how she was doing. He also came to ask her out on a date. He'd love her to come to dinner at his house. Oh and her mother is invited too. Marina accepts the invitation. Hernan will come to pick her up. He knows they will have a good time. He says that by coming to dinner Marina will also be able to forget the nightmare that she lived the day before with those dirty sailors. He also says that maybe if God wants they will get to know each other again. He tells her that they will see each other later and he leaves.
Mexico City
Mercedes and Soraya talk inside a car. Mercedes tells Soraya that before she called her she made another call. Mercedes tells Soraya to trust her and to not be afraid. Soraya tells her that she's trying to not be afraid. Soraya asks Mercedes where they are going. Mercedes tells her that she was left with many doubts. She needs to see all those women together and make sure that her daughter Magdalena is not there. Mercedes asks Soraya if she has the key. Soraya does have the key. When she escaped she stole it and kept it. Mercedes tells Soraya they will need it. Mercedes asks Soraya if those guys that take care of the women recognized her. Soraya tells her that they did not. When she was in the hell hole the guys that took care of them were different. They always change the guys that take care of the women. Mercedes asks Soraya if she is sure that the guys are asleep. Soraya is sure. The guys work all night and sleep during the day. Soraya thinks that if they sneak it and not make noise the guys won't notice them.
Back at the packing plant, Marina tells Olinto that she needs an interview with the mayor of the town. She needs an explanation for the attack that La Tempested suffered. Olinto will try and get an interview for her. Olinto tells Marina how happy he is that she and Damian are now friends. Marina asks Olinto who told him that she and Damian are friends. Olinto says that he found out how she took care of him and how she sewed his wound. Marina says that what she did was just an act of humanity. She says that Damian risked his life for her and she was just returning the favor. Olinto is just glad that she and Damian won't be fighting so much anymore. Marina tells him to quit worrying about her and Damian and concentrate on his job. They start to talk about business. Olinto mentions how he received a call from the crew of La Tempestad. The crew are at the port but the they haven't been able to unload all the fish because the boxes they sent weren't enough. Marina tells Onlinto to have more boxes sent. Marina then decides that she will go personally to supervise the unloading of the fish. Olinto notices how Marina has changed. She no longer talks about Damian with resentment. These two (Damian and Marina) saved each other. It is destiny. Pasale a comer, mi niño. Que la mesa esta servida (Come and eat boy, the table is ready) says Olinto. (I have no idea what he meant with the whole Pasale a comer phrase).
At the port, the crew is goofing around. Damian arrives and the crew greets him. Lagarto asks if it isn't too soon for him to come back to work. Damian says that he is fine. He wanted to make sure that everything was in order. He asks how come they haven't unloaded the fish. He is told that they are waiting for the boxes to keep on unloading. Oso tells Damian that they will take care of things and he should go and rest because he needs it and still isn't well. Damian says that he's fine. Damian says that the doctor said that Marina did a good sewing job on him. Oso now has respect for Marina. Oso says that he was the first one that made fun of her but also the first one to recognize her courage. Like Bagre says, that Señorita Marina has dynamite in her blood, says Damian.
At Hernan's house, Fulgencio now knows about Hernan's interest in Marina. Fulgencio says that he already imagined that it wasn't only a business matter but that there was something else. Skirts! Hernan tells Fulgencio that he knows nothing. I just gave my permission so my daughter can marry that bastard to please the Big Boss while you are getting all tangled up with that woman! I won't allow it! Understand, says Fulgencio.
Back at the port, Esthercita shows up. Marina watches from the car. Damian asks Esthercita what she's doing there. Esthercita tells Damian that she found out that he was wounded and it is her obligation to be by his side. Esthercita says that she found out that he went to ask for her hand in marriage. Damian says that he did but he found out that her father didn't give his permission for the marriage to happen. Esthercita tells Damian that her father already gave his permission.
Esthercita tells Damian that she loves him and plants a kiss on him.

Back at Hernan's house, Hernan stands up and tells Fulgencio that he already told him not to talk about what he doesn't know. He tells the maids to finish preparing the table later and to go and supervise dinner. Fulgencio realizes that Hernan is planning a party. He asks Hernan what he is celebrating. Ah! I know! You are going to celebrate that I am going to became that (bleep) father in law. Because Marina Reverte makes you lose sleep. Everything is clear now. All will depend on you being able to sleep... Hernan interrupts Fulgencio and warns him to never refer to Marina in that manner again. Fulgencio doesn't think that Hernan cares anymore that the packing plant is still running. Fulgencio says that if the packing plant continues to run there will always be fishing ships interfering with their business. Hernan says that when the time is right he will take care of packing plant. Oh like you took care of Damian, says Fulgencio. Fulgencio asks Hernan what is wrong with him. Fulgencio can't believe that a woman has taken Hernan to the point that he is risking their business. Fulgencio storms off.
A jealous Marina continues to watch the lip lock between Damian and Esthercita. Damian asks Esthercita if she's sure that her father gave his permission for them to be married. Esthercita tells him that she is sure. Her mother talked to her father and convinced him. The driver makes things worse for a jealous Marina by telling her that sailors have a love at every port. Damian tells Esthercita that he will come by her house later to talk to her parents. Right now he has to finish unloading the fish. Esthercita tells Damian that he's the captain and to let the crew take care of unloading the fish. Esthercita wants to go and see Padre Tomas to set a date for their wedding. Marina gets out of her car and storms over to where Damian and Esthercita are. Marina angrily asks Damian when he will unload the fish. The truck with the boxes are there already.
Eye Candy Alert! Hernan is shirtless with a towel. The song "Yo Se" sung by Daher plays in the background (I'll post a link at the bottom for those that want to listen to the whole song). Hernan lays some clothes on his bed. He will choose what to wear for his dinner date with Marina and her mother. There is a violin on the bed as well. Hernan is now on the bed and he stares at the violin. He now caresses the violin as if he were romancing it. This recapper is thinking that Hernan must have a thing for that violin because he was staring at it and caressing it in such a creepy way.
Marina yells at Damian and pretends that her anger is because he is taking too long to unload the fish. Esthercita asks Marina what her problem is. Can't she see that her boyfriend and her are talking? asks Esthercita. Damian tells Esthercita not to intervene. Esthercita thinks that it is a lack of respect on Marina's part to be interrupting them. Marina tells Damian that she's waiting for his answer. Esthercita gets all up on Marina's face and tells Marina that she and Damian are talking about their wedding and to leave them alone. Damian tells Esthercita that it would be better if she leaves. Esthercita won't leave. Esthercita wants to know who Marina is be coming and talking to her like that and be giving orders to him. He's the Captain the after all. Marina tells Esthercita that she's the administrator and associate of the company. I have no time for your tantrums little girl, says Marina. Esthercita takes that as fighting words and is ready to do some hair pulling but Damian intervenes and doesn't let her. Damian tells Esthercita that he told her that she should go home. Damian tells Marina to have patience. Marina tells Damian once again that the truck with the boxes is there already. Damian tells his crew to get to work. The crew who has been watching the whole scene does as told. Lolo wishes Damian good luck before he gets to work. Damian tells Esthercita that he will stop by her house later. Esthercita says that it is urgent that they talk to Padre Tomas to set a date for their wedding. She could go and talk to him. Damian says no. We'll talk to Padre Tomas together but we'll do that later now please let me work, says Damian. Esthercita says ok, mi amor but I'm only leaving because you are telling me. Don't be too long. I'll be waiting, says Esthercita. Esthercita blows Damian a kiss before leaving. Esthercita leaves. Damian asks Marina if she has any other order. They look at each other.
Back to a shirtless Hernan, he's still caressing that violin. Creepy. He recalls his time in high school when he was a nerd (or is it geek?). Hernan wore these nerdy (or geeky?) looking glasses back in high school. Hernan is walking and gazing at Marina who is talking to her friends. He is holding his violin case and is tripped by some bullies. Hernan falls down and drops his violin and is glasses come off. The bullies laugh. Marina comes to his defense. She hands him his glasses and she asks him if he's fine. He just gazes at her and doesn't answer. Back to the present. Mr. Violin errr I mean Hernan has now turned over his violin and is caressing the backside. Seriously, what is it with this guy and that violin?? Anyway, he says that he used to be that stupid coward incapable of defending himself. He stands up and picks up a photo of his class picture. He says that Marina is the only thing he hasn't been able to have and swears that Marina will be his.
Back to the port, Marina congratulates Damian on his upcoming nuptials with Esthercita. But she doesn't want him seeing her at the port. The workplace won't become your little romantic place, says Marina. Damian tells Marina that he thought that they had made peace and that they could treat each other more cordially. Marina doesn't know what made him think that. Well, the last time we spoke your voice was more warm, says Damian. Marina tells him that he must have heard wrong. Marina tells Damian that she needs written documentation of the merchandise that he brought. Damian asks if all of this is because of Esthercita's visit. Marina denies that it is because of Esthercita's visit. Marina says his future wife is none of her business. He can marry whoever he wishes. She tells him that the space at the port is payed by her company and her company doesn't accept conyugal visits. Understand, she says. Damian says that he does understand. Olinto interrupts and tells her that someone will call her at the office. Something about a contract out of the country. Marina leaves with Olinto.
At some store, Esthercita rants to Mayuya about Marina. Esthercita tells Mayuya about what happened at the port. Mayuya spews her venom and tells Esthercita that Marina likes Damian. Mayuya says that she has seen them together and they weren't necessarily talking about business. Mayuya tells Esthercita that she better watch out or else Marina will take Damian away from her. Esthercita says that Marina better not dare do that. Mayuya thinks that Marina will dare to take Damian away from her because after all the woman from the capital are like that. When they come to a small town all the men have to be at their feet. Esthercita says that if Marina gets in her way she will now who Esthercita Salazar is.
At the packing plant, Marina talks business on the phone. There is some big contract. She tells Olinto that they have to weigh all the fish the Captain brought. Olinto asks her if she no longer trusts Damian. Marina says that trust in business isn't always good. Olinto doesn't understand Marina's change in behavior. Before she left for the port all was good between her and the Captain. He even thought that she and the Captain were friends. Marina tells Olinto that there can't be friendship between her and Damian. Onlinto says but you two were getting along better. Marina rants about Damian between primitive, a rebel, and someone who refuses to accept that in business there are norms to comply to. Marina says that Damian knew how important the fish were to the company and instead of unloading the fish he was there talking with Esthercita. Olinto thinks its normal that Damian be talking to Esthercita after all they are about to get married. Marina says that she only cares about the packing plant. Yeah right. It is obvious that Marina is behaving this way because she's in a jealous snit over Esthercita visiting Damian and plating a kiss on him. Anyway, Marina tells Olinto that she wants for him to inform all the personnel that from now on their girlfriends, finances, and amiguitas are forbidden to come to the port. Marina tells Olinto that she has a date and leaves. Olinto says that it will be hard to tell Damian this new rule. He knows that this new rule will make Damian mad. Olinto once again asks the Virgen De Nuestra Señora Del Mar when all the problems will end. Again, I will say that the problems will end when we see FIN on the TV screen or hopefully and if we are lucky the problems will end before we enter the last week.
Beatriz rants about Captain Fabre. Blah blah blah. Jose says that Marina has been good at solving any problems. Beatriz whines about never understanding things because Marina never tells her truth. Your daughter probably never tells you the truth because she knows that you are going to give her horrible advice like when you told her to marry Hernan, Beatriz. Jose is sure that Marina doesn't tell Beatriz things so as not to worry her. Beatriz says that she gets more worried knowing nothing. Just then Beatriz starts to feel pain in her chest. Jose helps her to sit down on a bench. Beatriz tells Jose how she used to have those chest pains back in the capital but they had gone away. Jose wants to look for Marina but Beatriz says no. Beatriz doesn't want Marina to know about this. Beatriz promises Jose that if he keeps quiet she will talk to her doctor tomorrow. Jose says that for now he will keep quiet but if she feels sick again she will have to tell Marina. Beatriz thanks Jose for understanding her. Beatriz asks Jose if he knows Damian. Jose says that he does. Beatriz says that she wants to meet Damian but wants to keep this between Jose and her.
Damian is pissed off that he has to file a report about the amount of fish he brought. They never had to file a report before. Damian finds out from Bagre that Marina ordered this new system of them filing a report. Damian refuses to file the report. Let her do it after all she is the boss, says Damian.
Soraya is scared at entering the house. Mercedes calms her down. Mercedes and Soraya enter the hell hole house with the key that Soraya has. Here I am thinking that what these two are doing is stupid. I mean they don't have a gun with them this time. They sneak it and don't want to make sound so as not to wake up the bastards. They look through a window and see a bunch of women asleep.
Damian passes by a Sabritas vending machine. 
"Damian ain't the man for me." A jealous Damian. Marina comes home and is in her room. She's about to throw the roses away but she doesn't. She says that even though it hurts her to accept it, it is too late for her. She says that she shouldn't have let the love she feels for Damian continue growing in her heart. Holding a rose in her hand she says that she has to understand that Damian is not the man for her. Here I ask why isn't he a man for her? Because he's poor? Who cares about that. I mean just look at him, girl.
Damian rants about Marina. He says that no one will forbid him from seeing who he wants when he wants. Damian storms his way to Marina's office. Olinto tells Damian that Marina is not there. Olinto tells Damian that Marina had a date. Now its Damian's turn to be jealous. He asks Olinto who Marina has a date with.
Mexico City
Mercedes and Soraya enter the room with all the woman. No puede ser! says Mercedes. They are treated like animals, says Mercedes when talking about the poor conditions that the women in the room are living in. If Magdalena is there Mercedes won't leave without finding her. Just then El Papacito and his other goon come into the room. They grab Mercedes and Soraya. El Papacito holds a gun to Mercedes head. He tells her that if he finds out that she's a cop she's doomed. Mercedes tells El Papacito who she is and tells her that she's looking for her daughter. El Papacito who recognized them even without the slutty disguise realizes that Mercedes and Soraya used the disguise to look for the daughter without him realizing it. He says they made a fool out of him. Mercedes says that she has to find her daughter and doesn't care what she has to do. Mercedes says that she has to find Magdalena. El Papacito remembers Magdalena. He had to beat her constantly because she was rebellious and one day she escaped. He says that one day he will find her. Mercedes says that she will find her before he does. El Papcito tells Mercedes that she's courages but she took a big risk. He's about to shoot her when the cops show up and raid the place.
Fulgencio talks to Hernan on the phone. Fulgencio rants about there being no results. Hernan says that they have to do things intelligently. They can't expose themselves after the attack on La Tempestad. Fulgencio tells Hernan that time passes and things continue to be the same. Hernan blames Fulgencio for part of their problems. Hernan tells Fulgencio to do his part. Fulgencio doesn't understand how they will have results when things aren't going so well. Hernan talks about things being like a strategy. It's like catching a fish. You have to have patience.
At the beach, Lazaro sneaks up to Jazmin. Nereo is asleep on some rock. Who else wishes that a lighting bulb would hit him? I mean this novela is called La Tempestad. I expect someone to get hit with lightening. Anyway, Jazmin asks Lazaro what he's doing there. She tells him to talk softly because Nereo might wake up. Lazaro thinks this is the perfect time for her to escape. She can't because they have her sister. She says that it would be better if they see each other later at the bar. Lazaro wants to help her. She tells him that he can't. No one can. Lazaro wants her to come with him. Jazmin tells Lazaro to leave. She promises him that they'll talk later.
Mexico CIty
El Papacito and his other goon are arrested. El Papacito says that Mercedes will pay as he is being taken away. It turns out that Mercedes called the Commandate (played by Sergio Reynoso). Mercedes wants to know what will become of the women. Commandate says they will be taken down town to file the report and identify the men that exploited them and then they'll look for their documents to take them back with their families if they had them. One of the woman thanks Mercedes for having rescued them from the hell hole. The woman hopes that God will help Mercedes find her daughter.
Nighttime. Hernan rants about Damian during dinner with Beatriz and Marina. Hernan says that Damian put Marina's life in danger and shouldn't have let her get aboard the ship. Beatriz agrees with him. Shut up, Beatriz! Marina says that it wasn't Damian's fault. She insisted on boarding the ship. Hernan says that Damian has a responsibility. Did he even warn you about the dangers you might face? he asks. Marina says that Damian did tell her something about the dangers but never told her about the pirate danger. What?? He did tell you but you didn't believe him, Marina. Hernan says that he knows that those pirate attacks have been happening and that Damian knew that it could happen. Beatriz rants about Damian's irresponsibility. SHUT IT BEATRIZ! Beatriz mentions how Marina thinks Damian is special and Hernan laughs at this. He asks him if she actually thinks that Damian is special. Marina says that she does. Damian risked his life to save her life. Beatriz thanks God that nothing happened. Hernan now wants to change the subject. He asks how the dinner is. Beatriz of course loves it. Hernan asks Marina what she thinks. She says that everything is good and thanks him. Hernan says that maybe his conversation has been boring. Beatriz says no of course not maybe its my presence that is boring. Beatriz says that maybe you two would prefer to talk alone. Hernan says no Beatriz it is I who has been ruining the dinner talking about Damian. Marina closes the subject about Damian by saying that maybe she will never like Damian but she does consider Damian to be special. He's very different from all the other men that she has met.
The crew is having a good time on the ship except for Damian. Damian plays his guitar as the crew sing and drink. Oso mentions how Damian is inspired tonight. Bagre asks Damian if all is fine and Damian says yeah but the wound still hurts a little. Bagre offers Damian a drink because it is good for the pain. Damian doesn't accept. He thinks it is enough for tonight. He will go rest. Damian leaves. Lagarto wonders what is wrong with Damian. Since they returned from sea he's been strange. Lolo says who knows but whatever it is it will go away.
Mr. Violin err I mean Hernan plays his violin for Marina and Beatriz. Beatriz tells Marina that Hernan is special. SHUT UP ALREADY BEATRIZ! Marina gets up from the couch and moves somewhere far from her annoying mother. I don't blame her. Hernan continues to play the violin as Marina recalls the shootout at sea and Damian defending her. Hernan finishes playing the violin. Beatriz applauds him and calls him a genius. If she asks for an encore I am done with her. Beatriz says that Marina never told her that he was so good at playing at the violin. Probably because Marina didn't know or didn't care. Hernan says that he was inspired by Marina's beauty. He played the violin for Marina and well for Beatriz. Marina thanks Hernan for the playing the violin for her. Marina excuses herself and says that she and Beatriz have to leave. Beatriz thinks its too early. Then why don't you stay with him, Beatriz. Marina says that she has to work early. Marina excuses herself. Beatriz feels bad that they have to leave. Hernan tells her not to worry about it. He's happy to have been able to share this moment with them. Hernan says that his chauffeur can accompany them. Beatriz surprisingly doesn't accept his offer. She hopes that she can invite him over for dinner sometime. Hernan says of course.
Marina and Beatriz arrive home. Beatriz whines about Marina having been rude to Hernan. Marina tells Beatriz that she does not understand her. Beatriz does not know what she has to understand. What happened on the ship. I can't forget it. The situation was worse than I told you. There were many bullets and Damian was protecting me and willing to give his life for me. Why can't you understand that? asks Marina. Beatriz says that she can't understand because Marina never tells her the truth. Marina says well that is the truth. Marina is in tears. Beatriz asks why she is crying. Marina says she does not know why. She feels something inside that she can't explain. I say that it is love, Marina! Marina says that she judge Damian and now she doesn't know what is happening to her but she has understood that Damian deserves her respect. Marina leaves. Beatriz wonders what is happening. I think its pretty obvious, Beatriz!
Hernan is having a fit at his house. He's throwing things. He's about to smash his precious violin but he thinks about it twice and doesn't. He of course blames Damian for having ruined his night. Hernan says that Damian got into Marina's eyes and head but he will never get into Marina's heart. Nevvvvverrrrrrr, he yells. Its a little too late for that, Hernan, because he already is in Marina's heart!
Marina is in the bathroom. She says No! No! No!. This can't be happening to me. Damian is engaged and will get married. What is happening to me? she asks herself. I can't be feeling this for him, she says.
The next day. Marina is in her office trying to get some work done when Damian storms in. She yells at him for storming in. He gives her the crumpled up blank report. Damian has had it. First she makes him file a report that no one knows how to do and then she forbids his girlfriend to come to the port. Marina says they are the new rules. Damian tells Marina that all she wants is to bother him and she got what she wanted now she will have to face the consequences. Marina says what consequences, I'm your boss, watch your tone with me, I am not one of your crew members! Damian thanks God that she isn't a crew member. He tells her that she won't accept her new rules and Esthercita will come to visit when she wants and she'll have to control her...My what? says Marina. Your jealous snit, says Damian.
Avances: Damian is in love with Marina, Hernan tells Marina that he's in love with her, and the Commandante has come to town to investigate.
Damian tells Marina that he knows that she's jealous of Esthercita. Atrevase a negarlo (I dare you to deny it) he says.

Poor Hernan. CapFabDam's guitar is bigger than H's violin, So Marina will naturally end up with Brad Pitt...er...CapFabDam.

I must confess I felt (momentarily) bad for Hernan in the flashbacks of him being bullied in school. Marina's act of kindness appears to be what triggered Hernan's unabating obsession.

Marina's jealously was painfully transparent. But, itsn't it always? I imagine some stew internally but in TN's - it is glaringly apparant. Even Damian noticed! And as Esthercita is such a spoiled child, how will Damian ever go through with the marriage??
"Ful-of-himself" now knows Hernan's weakness. Marina. Suspect he won't put up with that for long.
I was afraid for Mercedes and Soraya! The commandante and crew arrived just in time. Mercedes now has another formidable enemy.

I love the violin. I think that the violin is the most beautiful of musical instruments both to look at and hear, but I agree, that the way that Hernán regards his instrument is a bit creepy.

I did see HeMan fresh from the shower stroking that violin . Perhaps, the violin's curves remind him of his magnificent obsession... Marina. The flashback of those Two in their school uniforms trying to look like teens was funny. I especially enjoyed He with his slicked , center parted hairdon't. Note to Marina : No good deed goes unpunished. That one act of kindness earned you an obsessive fan.
Ester is going to be one hot mess.

Thanks for the recap, Mauricio. There are no words to describe that violin caressing scene. Like Diana, I was actually beginning to feel sorry for Hernan too, from the adorable Marina backstory to the painfully awkward dinner. But when he smashed everything around it became clear that he has a very creepy obsession. An obsession with Marina, violins, and colored skinny jeans.

Bless you NovelaMaven for that Bach Minuet in G. I went to the computer in an absolute fury (yes, I have dynamite in my veins and someone who shall remain nameless just lit it!) BUT I listened to the first few notes of that minuet and the toxic anger melted away. Wow. Music really is magic.

I third Niecie's comment on the upcoming nuptials. E needs help, of course, she does with Delf and Ful as parents and then a BFF that really just wants you dead! Plus, that whole town knows she is spoiled brat. Generally, with an attempt like that she would have actually went to the hospital so they could of pumped her stomache. Just saying. Anyway, sorry went on a tangent there. Yes, E needs help and Dam is going to escape to his boat every chance he gets if they make it to the altar.

Mauricio, great added screencaps. How did I not notice the Sabrita's machine? And OMG, that spiny lobster dashboard ornament in Marina's car...I have the exact same thing in a springy refrigerator magnet! It's incredibly tacky.
