Weekend Discussion: Music Videos For Your Pleasure

Couldn't think of a topic this week, so I thought I'd round up some music videos.

This last one doesn't have a great picture, but this combination of voices is incredible:

Does anyone else think Alejandro should take up opera?

On the subject of opera, here's a great one with Placido Domingo in the 80s when he was hot:

Wow! SUPER topic!! Especially the opera - I don't know when I'll have time for the whole thing, but I'm putting it on my list.

Thank you! I'm always interested in Music!

I've actually been quite frustrated by music lately.

I can't seem to find a download for "Déjalo ir"

It frustrates me that Univision covers final credits with avances so I can see music credits if there are any.

I hate that there is not an album to go along with Que Bonito Amor. Though I'm not watching the show, the music...all of it including the incidental music is just gorgeous and I can't seem to find any of it.

Sorry to vent.

Sara, 90% of the songs in QBA are mariachi standards and you can find a dozen versions of almost all of them. Don Chente has probably recorded all of them, Pablo most of them.

One of the issues I have had with novela music is that a lot of the albums over the years have been covers rather than the actual cuts used in the series. That makes me feel really cheated.

Julie, that became one of my favorite operas after I saw this. I love how Placido looks in it!

Sara, I understand your frustration in not being able to get every last drop of music, especially when what I really want is the incidental music. The FELS soundtrack had a few tracks of incidental music, but not all of it. I wanted ALL of it. Or at least as much of it as I could remember!

Ah well. That's what they call a first-world problem. :-)

Thank you Urban. I just wish I could find the songs with the same musical arrangements.

And now I'm frustrated because I could have sworn I had Que Bonito Amor in my iTunes wishlist, but it's not there and the only thing I can find is the video. I must be going crazy.

I'll never understand why the TN producers go to all the trouble to get the right music for a show and then not make it more available.

I'm still waiting for the music from UFCS to be available here.

Julie-Completely agree about it being a first world problem. Not that it dulls my pain any lol.

There was an album of almost all the incidental music plus some theme songs for AdP. I have no idea why they don't make a habit of that.

I would have loved the incidental music from STuD, too.

Tell me about it. In the US they release all the musical glurge from stupid movies and we can't get the good incidental stuff from Mexico's best novelas. Life isn't fair.

Can't listen to these now because I'd wake up the whole family, but can't wait.

UA, you're a doll! I always feel a TN withdrawal on weekends...or would...but you manage to serve us up something delicious to tide us over every time. Thanks so much.

Ah Sara, now that I've read the comments, I see you too have been frustrated trying to find Dejalo ir. It's a fabulous song but for some reason iTunes doesn't have it. Usually they do once a show is really popular in the States, which I presume Corazón Indomable is. Maybe this song just appeals to vegans!LOL

Ah, you have inspired me UA. I had my MP3 player stolen several months back and it was loaded with lots of wonderful TN themes and music by some of my favorite Latin artists that I scoured and pulled from a lot of different sites. Missed listening to that so much, but haven't gotten around to trying to replace it. I believe you have set me on my next Me Project course.

Thank you!

Thank you Urban for sharing the beautiful music! I hooked up a speaker to my computer and listened to every one of those videos, lovely!

Exactly. They could make a tidy sum off me alone. I'm a TN musicaholic.

JudyB-We will have to suffer together. I confess I check iTunes at least once a week to see if Déjalo Ir is available.

Daisynjay-I am intrigued. My students tell me that you can somehow get music from YouTube videos onto an iPod. I assumed they were teasing me, Luddite that I am. But now I see you've "scoured and pulled from a lot of different sites". Would you be willing to email me and explain the process?

Thank you for opening this topic. Clearly many of us needed a mini support group for our musical woes.

To download the audio from a youtube video as an MP3, you can use http://www.listentoyoutube.com/

You just copy and paste the youtube link into the website and it will convert it into a file you can import into itunes!! I've done this several times with music I can't find for download (i.e. "Dime" from PP before it was released on itunes). The quality isn't fabulous, but it's listenable :)

It doesn't work on all videos though, it's just kind of hit and miss.

UA!!! Yet another wonderful topic for the weekend. I'm always looking forward to your weekend offerings!!

Another Amy, thank you for that great bit of information! :)

UA, you and our super QBA recappers have listed a good number of the songs that have been sung on this novela, I am going to go back and see if I can make up a list. Maybe you could double check my list for me, plz? I would like to add these songs to my MP3 player.

Thank you, UA!!!

Fatima

Just so everyone knows...

ANOTHERAMY IS THE AWESOMEIST!!!!

I'm going to spend my day converting videos to mp3s

squee! happydance!! squee again!!

PS:

I forget to say to you, JudyB that I suffer TN withdrawals during the weekend, too.

Could someone take a look at the Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti video and tell me what it's about. I looked at the lyrics and watched it twice. I don't get what they are trying to tell us.

Cynderella

Most of the lyrics I've posted are here. They are the golden oldies of the genre.

Newer ones can be found here. If you don't know the title you can usually find it with a line if it's distinctive enough.

Thanks, Urban, this was great fun!

Jarifa

Thank you, Urban!! My favorite is Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti - the theme song to La Tempestad.

Cynderella, there's a translation at this website:

http://lyricstranslate.com/en/hoy-tengo-ganas-de-ti-i-have-desire-you-today.html

I understand the words, I don't understand the point of the video. What are they doing in the video. The man and woman are making love in the background. She pushes him in the pool. She jumps in the pool. He carries her out of the pool and walks down the hallway sogging wet. Did the woman in red die? Is the woman in red supposed to be Christina? I don't get it.

Cynderella:

Sometimes videos for music do not match the song. It's rare when the video does. Just my opinion : )

Urban:

Thanks so much for this wonderful post. I loved the music you posted here. Of course I like the first one you put up "Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti" but I like the one with Placido Domingo, Jose Carras and Alejandro Fernandez doing "Granada"! I agree Alejandro Fernandez could do opera, what a voice!
