Corazón Indomable #89, Fri 13: A Hammock In The Shade Of A Tree

Racap by Carlos

The cool girls, Doris (she's the governor's daughter in case you forgot) and Mariana, her BFF and future stepmom, are hanging out in Doris' room as the phone rings. Mariana answers and mouths to Doris, who's busy filing her nails,

"It's him!"

Him is a desperate and confused Octavio who's furiously seeking answers about recent events. but he's not gonna get them here... Doris wants nothing to do with him.
She's Describing It For Me As We Speak.

He picks up the phone and calls Maricruz. He tells her that he is calling to congratulate her and say goodbye. Say what? She thought that he's about to marry the governor's daughter. Nopis. No wedding, and worse, he's been accused of horrible crimes. Maricruz looks confused.

Still busy with her nails, Doris explains to Mariana that Octavio has decided not to marry her so she had him expelled from the island.

I wonder what they were talking about before he called if she's just now telling Mariana about it.

 "Then you don't love him?"

"I may love him but my pride and dignity are much more important than that..."

She will enjoy watching him suffer.

Octavio asks Maricruz if she's satisfied. She looks even more confused.

On another phone from the hospital room, Lucía is breaking the news of the sale of the ranch to Ofelia and asks her to take care of closing things out there Pack things up, sell the trucks, pay off the help... Ofelia looks sad. Lucía is surprisingly calm... I think that she may be nipping at Miguelito's Benadryl.

Maricruz is still looking confused,

"And you think that I have something to do with what is happening?"

Octavio clearly does,

"... adiós and may you be very happy!"

he shouts and tosses the phone on the bed.

We've seen much better phone tosses.

Maricruz is left holding the phone,

"No, wait Octavio..."

She may be confused, but even so, she's a step ahead of Octavio and smells a well-manicured rat,

"I have to talk to her. She needs to tell me what happened..."

She rushes out.

Miguel is counting cash, mentally allocating funds, and reaffirming his hate for Maricruz. He gets up and is on his way to pay off his debts to her when he bumps into Octavio who storms into the hotel room unannounced and begins telling Miguel what has happened.

Outside the governor's mansion Maricruz finds Doris and wants an explanation.

Octavio tells Miguel of the police bursting into his room, charging him as a smuggler, and expelling him from the island.

Doris and Maricruz chat. Doris expresses her disappointment in learning of Octavio's criminality. She wonders if Maricruz's daddy may have earned his fortune in the same fashion.

Can you imagine how the wild barefoot Maricruz might have responded to such a remark? Not our new improved Maricruz.

As he continues telling Miguel, it suddenly dawns on Octavio  that Doris might be involved as well. Genius that he is, he still thinks that Maricruz is involved  somehow, but Miguel doubts that. Miguel does wonder how this will affect him. Oh, and now Octavio will need a bit of that cash after all.

Doris thinks that Maricruz should be glad that Octavio is finally being punished after the way he treated her. However, Maricruz is now standing up to Doris and defending Octavio. She warns Doris that punishment will be her penance... or something like that.

Octavio admits to Miguel that even after all this, he loves Maricruz and probably always has.

After her conversation with Maricruz, Doris goes to her dad to demand that Maricruz be expelled from the island as well.

Back in her office Maricruz is now feeling Octavio's pain,

"I should be happy, but I feel so sad, I know perfectly well how he must be suffering."

Miguel arrives to pay off his debt.

Doris wants Maricruz gone. Her dad objects. She insists. She even suggests that he confiscate the casino.

Miguel exchanges cash for the IOUs and complains if it weren't for these he'd still own his ranch.

Back at the ranch, Ofelia has lost her appetite. She tells Santa, back from the store, of the sale of the ranch. Ofelia sees a bright side, maybe the new owner will keep them on. Poor Ofelia may come to wish that she'd served that breakfast to Maricruz way back when.
I Can't Remember Where I Left My Walker.

Maricruz cruelly toys with and taunts Miguel and then decides to drop the bomb,

"Señor, I was the intelligent person who bought the Narváez Ranch."

He shakes his head as she smiles sweetly and dimples him.

After commercials, Maricruz needles Miguel a bit more, then assures him that this is not a joke as he will see soon enough.

Back at Realengo, Ester has taken up gardening in addition to well digging. She has a serenity and strength about her as she explains to José Antonio how she is going to improve the place by educating the kids and finding a way to get their moms to care for them instead of sitting around gossiping. He has doubts. She assures him of her love for him and speaks of bearing him healthy children. He offers no encouragement.

Maricruz shares a little revenge talk with Miguel, reminding him of his family's crimes. He says that she will just abandon the ranch sending her into this little tirade,

"That ranch will flourish and the humble people living nearby will flourish with it. I'm going to do what's necessary to make that happen. I will make it so that all who walk on that land are benefited and will give them all that you have denied them."

I guess she means that someone will finally pick those oranges.

As he leaves she instructs him to inform his brother who is the ranch's new owner,

"...because I'm sure that he'll be as thrilled as you are."

José Antonio shouts at Ester. She shouts back...better.

He skulks away, she reflects,

"One day not far off, I'll win, José Antonio, and you are part of my plans. Don't have the slightest doubt."

I know I sure don't.
And The Starbucks Will Be Right Over There.

Octavio, Miguel, and Simona are having dinner. Miguel decides that it's not a good time to tell Octavio the news about who now owns the ranch. (So when would be a good time?) Octavio whines about the disaster that has occurred to him. Simona throws out a lifeline. She offers for him to return to her ranch with her. He can run the place. Miguel likes the idea.

Maricruz is home, despondent and tearful. She thought this revenge thing would be more fun.

More table talk with Miguel, Octavio, and Simona. Both Miguel and Simona encourage him to take her up on her offer. He can wrap things up on the Narváez Ranch, then take over at her place. Have a little vacation, connect with nature.

"...you can sleep in a hammock in the shade of a tree, allow the days to pass in order to forget disagreeable things you are experiencing now... ride horseback whenever you want, milk cows, swim in the river..."

She pleads... he accepts.

Heck, she had me at hammock...

I can't take my eyes off of her... what the heck did they do with that mole? At a beauty shop? Wow!

Maricruz unburdens herself to Juanita who doesn't understand...

That makes two of us sweetheart.

Maricruz tells Juanita (and us) that she didn't realize how bad Doris really is, how much she wants to help Octavio, whom she doesn't love (Yikes! Did you see that? I swear I saw her nose suddenly get ever so slightly longer... or maybe it's the light), and that no matter what, there's no way she's gonna marry the governor (when did they break up? Did I miss something?).

Must be next day, she's at the Luv Guv's wearing a hot pink clingy knit dress with black lateral panels and trim and wearing a ton of makeup. It looks as though she's borrowed Lucía's special brand of I'm BSC lipstick. Yikes! She's there to discuss the injustice done to Octavio Narváez. The governor recoils. Octavio's lucky he's not going to prison for many years because,

"...it wasn't just any girl that that boy offended, but my daughter, the daughter of the governor of Isla Dorada."

He explains that the charges of smuggling were the most expedient and effective. She asks that if she, his former fiancee, requests it, would he drop the charges?

Miguel calls Lucía to tell her of recent events. Octavio has broken it off with Doris (Lucía thinks this was foolish), has accepted an offer to join Simona at her ranch, and that he was expelled from the island after being charged with smuggling. Then he tells her that it was Maricruz who purchased the ranch.  Her eyes catch fire. Now there's the crazy Lucía that we've all come to love.

The governor tells Maricruz that he never thought much of Octavio as a potential son-in-law. Maricruz reacts to this,

"And you think that you're worth more than Octavio Narváez?"

Lucía reacts to the news that Maricruz now owns the ranch,

"The ranch, our ranch in the hands of that insensitive savage?"

She asks what Octavio thinks about this and Miguel admits that Octavio does not yet know. Lucía is very vexed,

"...I'm capable of killing her."

We know.

She entertains fond sepia memories of past good times with Maricruz. She orders Miguel to let Octavio find out on his own.

Back in the governors office, yes, the governor thinks he's worth more than Octavio.

Maricruz goes ballistic,

"You're a corrupt politician. You engage in all manners of nasty business. You accepted money from the emir... don't say no, do you think I don't know? In order to set aside a law that you yourself imposed. Who knows how many crimes you've committed to stay in power? No Señor Governor you're not worth more than Octavio Narváez."

Need I tell you how devastating this scene is for me? My monkey is gone. I'm certain that I'll only be seeing him in sepia flashbacks. It's likely that Solita's son will end up going through life forever nameless. I realize that Ester ain't never never find that pure crystalline water she is digging for. And now I must sit here helplessly and hopelessly watching as my expectations of a steamy love scene between the Luv Guv and the Casino Lady are shattered. No Champagne, no rose petals, no flickering candles...

Sigh... what might have been...

Lying (or is it laying, JudyB?) in his bed, Octavio is startled by a knock at the door. It's Miguel. He asks Octavio how he is. Octavio tells him... not so good and he has concluded that it's Ramiro's curse.

The governor strikes back. Does she realize that he can expel her as a woman of questionable morals? She does,

"You can accuse me of that if you wish, but I can make sensational declarations against you away from this island."

"It's imprudent for you to speak to me in this manner."

She realizes that he can send her to jail, but it wouldn't be her first time and she's not afraid. She reminds him that as his former intended, folks will heed what she says,

"...very easily I can make up one or another intimate secret."

"You'd be capable?"

"You bet your bippy, I'm capable!"

Octavio whines to Miguel that he's going to lose his daughter. Miguel consoles him with this:

"Well, you can have other children."

Ignoring the central outrageousness of this, Octavio asks,

"With whom, Simona?"

"It'd be a blessing if you had some with her."

"Ya wanna shut up?"

This is followed by an utterly inane discussion about the comparative merits of marrying for love or money... then Octavio asks Miguel if he thinks that Mariruz knows that they sold the ranch... Miguel is not quite sure how to answer this, but if this is his poker face it's no wonder her lost so much money.

Realizing his weakened position, the governor tries to negotiate,

"What do you want?"

She wants him to call the police chief and have him bring over that order of expulsion and tear it into pieces right there in front of her.

Octavio, with his finely honed ability to read faces suspects that Miguel may be hiding something. Miguel nimbly dodges his questions... but mentions that sooner or later Maricruz is bound to find out... Octavio doesn't see this thing with Simona as the ultimate direction his life will take... Next!

In her hotel room Simona shares girl talk with Jaqui, revealing that she has always loved Octavio but had never really hoped because she was so ugly... but now... Next!

The governor wants to know why María Alejandra is so concerned about Octavio. She reminds him that he's the father of her child and she doesn't want her stained by her father's scandal. The governor thought it might be for love. They tentatively reach an agreement that the governor will drop the charges once Octavio has left the island. He's curious,

"And if I don't?"

"Do it Señor, I'm a very bad enemy."

Lucía is ruminating over the news about the ranch's new owner,

"All that was ours, she will destroy it all, our intimacy, our memories, she will have in her hands on all that was mine, she'll touch my stuff, and it'll be as if I were profaned. And what? I'm going to sit back and let it happen?"

María Alejandra extends her hand to the governor,

"Many thanks, Señor Governor."

He takes her hand,

(Dare I hope?)

"María Alejandra, perhaps after a few months have gone by and the unpleasantness between us has faded,  then could we rekindle our friendship?"

Dimples!

"Yes, that could happen."

Would you be capable of reaching an understanding with me without speaking of marriage?"

You old charmer, you.

"It wouldn't be difficult for me. You are fascinating, Señor Governor."

"And you are enchanting..."
Agreed. We'll Do That Love Scene For Carlos.

She then proceeds to tell him what a rat she thinks Octavio is, but he's the father of her child. The governor tells her that is the reason he agrees to pardon him but he must not know about it... then he tells her that he believes in her,

"I blindly believe in you."

Say what?... Next!

Ofelia calls Lucía to tell her that things are going as planned, they're packing all her things...

Lucía tells her that she's planning to return after all.

"I need to pick up my stuff so that I don't leave a thing in the world for the new owner (dueña)."

"The new owner is a woman?"

Santa looks up at this as Lucía replies ruefully,

"So she is."

Well done, Vivi/Carlos, as the Gringo always says' I can't wait ........." Thank you!!!

Thanks emeraldrose,

I'm not sure what has happened between Blogger and me that kept me from being able to post this myself along with some pictures. Maybe I've been expelled from the island, but heck, I can't imagine why, I'm a big fan of Doris and want to see the Luv Guv and Maricruz indulge in some snuggle bunnies.

Carlos

Happy Saturday patio peeps! I find myself only watching the episodes that I recap because I can keep up with everything I need to know via the recaps, and lets be honest sometimes the recaps are better than the show. Carlos, its always a joy to read your recaps mate!

Carlos, so funny, especially your paragraph about wanting MA and the Gov to get it on and the realization that it won't happen. Now it looks like they're just going to be friends.

Writers, I don't get why you passed up the opportunity to make a show of revealing MC as owner of the ranch. The way you ended up doing it was just flat and boring. Stoopid writers!

So Lucia will come back to the ranch to get her things. What will she do when she sees MC there, as they must meet up, I'm sure.

So a person goes from ugly to beautiful and her whole life changes for the better. What a great message you're promoting writers. Sorry ugly people, you'll just have to go on being pathetic losers.

Fabulous job Carlos. I loved how you said Mari dimppled someone. She uses those things like weapons, doesn't she?

I'm not sure when exactly the Gov and Mari broke up either. There was never a breakup, but they were making it sound like they had. That whole conversation between Mari and the Gov was pretty non-sensical.

Wouldn't an expulsion order be something in a database, not just a piece of paper you can rip up? Is Tav just going to quit his job, without first confirming that his bosses think he's a smuggler? Should I even ask these logical questions? :)

Vivi- save yourself the trouble, logic has no place in this novela.

Great recap. Two scenes stood out as really laughable. Ester gardening and Simona's list of fun stuff to do at the rancho. Where did the plants come from? Where did she get the money? When Simona was running off her list I half expected her to interject 'or you could jump my bones'. Maybe we'll get a good seduction scene and Carlos you may still get your rose petals, candles and champagne. Don't lose hope!

Thanks so much Carlos!

That was so funny - that Octavio first thought Mari was behind the expulsion order. It took him a pretty long time to figure out it was because he had just dumped Doris - slow!

Mari has trouble enjoying her vengeance, but Doris - wow, Doris was loving the power trip!

Loved the face off between Mari and the Gov over the false charges.

Mari made a huge tactical error telling Miguel she was the ranch buyer. She should have waited until she took possession of the ranch. Now it's all set up for sabotage or something nasty if BSC Lucia gets her way. What - is Mari going to return home to a burned out house or something?

I look forward to Awfelia getting hers. Unfortunately, she may hang on as Lucia's accomplice - yech.

Dang - I will be away from Univision for a couple of weeks, and I so looked forward to the return to the ranch. I'll just have to keep up via the recaps.

Audrey

Maybe the expulsion order was sent by telegram?

On top of everything else, now we get condescension. Poor women care more for gossip than their kids and that's why the criaturas are savages and need the upper class to save them. Or are the women busy looking for food and clean water? And Simona should feel like crap because of how ugly everyone thought she was. She had a mole and no makeup. That's it. She looked like a normal person on a ranch, not some hideous troll.

This would be a good time for Ofelia to pilfer some tchotchkes and the silver to pawn. The servants need a severance package.

Kelly

Just what kind of place is Isla Dorada supposed to be? Is it under the Mexican government at all? Because this governor is sure not acting like a governor who has responsibilities to his constituents - he's more like a dictator. And how does marrying him automatically turn the wife into the governadora?

JA stands for JackAss. All he does is yell at Ester. I hope he leaves her, divorces her, and she stays and builds up the community and finds a true love that will work alongside her (maybe one of the surveyors) - then the JA will realize he wants her back but is too late.

Octavio is such a non-galan! He's a wuss and a leech. Not once has he said "I will support (or even help support) my wife in any way I can, whatever my job may be." He DIDN'T intend to stay married to MariCruz. He absolutely considered marrying Doris "because she is rich and the governor's daughter which will give me prestige." He has considered marrying Simona because she's wealthy. Even with his pilot's job he never saved any money, as he's now asking Miguel for some of the money from the ranch. He's no catch at all. Yuck!

Octavio nearly jumped out of his skin when Miguel knocked loudly on the door. It was funny to see him scared for a minute. "Q-q-q-uien?"

Was the marriage of MA and the Gov contingent on Doris marrying Octavio? Could it be that both automatically assumed they are now unengaged because Octavio dropped Doris?

Carlos sent me some pics to add to the recap.

Kelly- Lucia told Ofelia specifically to sell things like the truck and whatnot to give the few servants and workers left their severance pay.

Thanks Eli,

I hope I put in enough detail to fill you in on the action (well, last night, the inaction).

Thanks cathyx,

and I had such high hopes. I expect that the Guv is even more disappointed.

Double and triple thanks Vivi,

"Should I even ask these logical questions?"

You're kidding... right?

Thanks Audrey,

I'm sooo looking forward to Ofelia coming face to face with the new boss-lady.

Thanks Dorothy C,

After her description, I want to spend a week with Simona. Looks like Ester found the local nursery.

Thanks Kelly,

well, you must admit that the mole was a bit distracting. What a great job somebody did with that.

Carlos

Ah,another recap by my favorite truck-driving rascal. And no, I will not be drawn into another lie/lay debate.

As always, lots of wonderful quips, with or without pictures:

[Lucia]"may be nipping at Miguelito's Benadryl"

"we've seen much better phone tosses"(does a certain blue-eyed actor come to mind?)

"I guess she means that somebody will pick those oranges"

"Heck, she had me at hammock"

and my favorite of all:

[Miguel] "but if this is his poker face, no wonder he's lost so much money"

I could listen to you spin yarns all day, Carlos, but will gladly settle for a great recap once every couple of weeks. And now on to the Alabama/Texas A & M game. No way can it live up to the relentless ESPN hype this week but I'm going to watch anyway.

Hah! I just saw that "I can't remember where I left my walker" quip. You are relentless, amigo!

A BIG THANK YOU CARLOS AND VIVI. Yes, I can't wait, I was on pins and needles all morning waiting on the recap. Boring? Not on your life
I can't wait till Monday PM but first I need to get through the weekend comments.

Carlos, you're as good as ever---
He shakes his head as she smiles and dimples him---I guess that means that someone will finally pick those oranges---Looks like she
borrowed Lucia's special brand of I'm BSC lipstick---Her eyes catch fire, now there's the crazy Lucia that we've all come to love---No champagne, no rose petals, no flickering candles, sigh...what might have been.
Carlos, you never miss, great ones always.

I was going crazy last night when MC was negotiating with the govenor
I thought that we might have to see rose petals on the old coot's bed. Thank God Maricrus is a tough
negotiator.

There is still much to worry about though. Yes Carlos, that wild evil look in Lucifer's eyes is back and can only mean that there is trouble ahead for Mexico's #1 goddess. I mentioned it yesterday, A fire could "ACCIDENTLLY" start at
the rancho or Lucifer could trash the place after she moves out her things leaving Maricruz with a mess
of devistation.

Simona---Is more to worry about. She's going to the full court press
with Octavio and to make things even worse, BSC Doris has not given up. OMG!! That woman.

I still am saying---What is wrong with JA. Ester is trying and JA gets worse every episode. Hurry Maricruz, Ester needs your help.
the gringo

Anon,

Thanks for joining in today. Well, yeah, if you want pick at nits, there are a few flaws and a few flawed characters, as well as the occasional loose end here and there.

Thanks for posting the pictures Vivi... now I don't feel so naked.

Carlos

Carlos, thanks for your great recap. "I'm BSC lipstick" was my favorite.

Miguel needs to find a 12 step program ASAP since he is still blaming Maricruz for his losing the ranch. (that does sound funny)I don't know who is weaker he or his brother. No body poured the alcohol down his throat or tied him to the gambling tables.

I sure hope that there is a chance meeting of Lucía and Maricruz at the ranch. It might make Maricruz feel better about her very fine revenge since Lucía still doesn't get it. She and Doris could be mother and daughter in terms of their inability to see reality and lack of values in addition to their BSC (useful abbreviation today) reaction to everything. So sad that he governor felt it necessary to retaliate against Octavio and to consider retaliating against Maricruz just to please nutty Doris. I was enjoying wondering how Maricruz was going to manipulate her way out of the engagement/wedding.

I can't even waste time on JA/Ester. That is one stupid subplot with 2 stupid people. Anon 3:0pm "Jack Ass" is perfect.

All in all it was a fun episode despite no sighting of our beloved mooonkey!! Maybe he is already back at the ranch preparing for Maricruz's arrival! LOL

Jarifa

Jarifa- Between Miguel and Tav, Miguel is weaker. No question about it. But that's not saying much...The Narvaez did not win in the gene pool department. I fear for poor Miguelito and Lupita.

Frankly, Mari's revenge isn't resolving anything or making anything or anyone better. It's just getting messier and uglier. The Narvaez are just getting more obstinate and filled with hate, and Mari is feeling worse. Perhaps once she's back on the ranch and channeling some of her energy into good work to help people, she will start to feel better.

Carlos, I love the Starbucks, and doing it for Carlos captions.

I just went back and took a look at the pictures. I wish they were really saying those things.

Thanks Judy,

I 'm glad that you got to see my little tribute and that Vivi was kind and sweet enough to add it for us. I'm parked in front of the TV with a cold Shiner Bock. If only this game lives up to half the hype. Darla (my receptionist) and her husband are tail-gating with friends at Kyle Field in College Station. Her son is an Aggie.

Thanks gringo,

I share your fears. Lucía really doesn't want Maricruz touching her stuff. I hope you get a chance to look back at the pictures (with captions of course) that Vivi so generously posted for us.

Thanks Jarifa,

"I sure hope that there is a chance meeting of Lucía and Maricruz at the ranch."

Ordinarily I'd say count on it, but with this show...

Carlos

Thank you, Carlos. I got a big chuckle out of your comments about Maricruz "dimpling" the gov and Miguel's poker face.

As for "lay vs. lie," I use a memory trick from the Grammar Girl, Mignon Fogarty.

I think of the words to the Bob Dylan song, "Lay lady lay, lay across my big brass bed..." and the Eric Clapton song, "Lay down Sally," and then do the opposite. They were wrong, but the songs sound so much better, of course.

So funny Carlos, at least this TN is resource for great recaps.

Phone toss certainly can't equal Sergio Sendel.

Are we to assume that Oct is fired from Aeromiedo? He was going to get another route anyway, so what's the problem?

Variopinta- He said that since he is accused of smuggling (but where are the charges and conviction?), then he will be fired, and no other airline will hire him. But he seems to be jumping the gun.

Carlos, Thank you for all the smiles and giggles that your recap and captioned photos gave me. There were so many funny lines that I can't pick just one, but I did get an extra giggle from your tribute to Judyb and the one to yourself. I look forward to your wonderfully clever recaps all week. I always know that I will get some laughs. You are an excellent storyteller. I enjoy your wit and goodnatured irreverence.

Now, let's do another lie/lay tutorial. My students have to memorize the irregular verbs , so here is my explanation of these troublemaking verbs. Lie, lay,lain..means to recline. I lie on the bed every night. I lay on the bed last night. I have lain on the bed every night this week. Lay,laid, laid ..means to put, set, or place something. I lay my keys on the table every day. I laid my keys on the table yesterday. I have laid my keys on the table every day this week.

With all these people getting thrown off the island, I am getting a Survivor vibe.

I had a Simona moment today. I went to a department store at the mall to buy some Clinique so that I could get the annual freebie stuff offer. I do this once a year. I've never felt comfortable getting one of those makeovers because I don't wear much makeup , and sometimes those ladies working at the cosmetic counters look a little scary...as in, do you really have to wear EVERY product you sell ? However, I've never worn eyebrow pencil, so I let the least scary looking lady (the one wearing the least amount of makeup) apply some. Hervfirst try was a little heavy handed , but she removed some and I was sold and bought it. Note: When I met Hub, he still recognized me, so I guess it was not as dramatic a makeover as Simona, but then again , I do not have any moles to remove?

As for Ester, maybe she was putting native plants into pots to sell, so that she could start work on that Starbucks.

Thank you, Carlos, for another fun recap. I could soooo tell it was you even if at the end it said that Vivi posted... then I realized she did it for you!

So now that Mari bough the ranch the monkeys in charge need to hurry to get all the characters away from the island, no matter how ridiculous that might be... Octavio just assumes that he's fired? Of course he does. What will the Governor's daughter do at the ranch? They do plan to take her, too, right?
I didn't quite get it, did Simona offer Miguel to take care of her ranch?
Isn't he wanted by the pueblo police???? COME ON!!!
Or was it Tav, the guy who hated ranch living when he actually owned one?

And when, oh when, did the golden couple break up? We've been making plans, buying scented candles and making sure we have champagne and Celine Dion's best romantic music to accompany for their love nest and what now? We don't even get a break-up scene?

There are high expectation, low expectations and no expectations, which is where I am right now.

Welcome to the patio of no expectations, girls and boys! We have freshly picked oranges and a roulette table to keep you entertained. We don't receive IOU's, they're known to get us into trouble.

Simona is sounding a bit desperate. I guess she offered Octavio the job of running her rancho because he did such a. Crackerjack job of running his family ranch..Simona, did you not notice that THE ORANGES ARE STILL ON THE TREES and nobody ever does anything at that ranch ??? ....????? On the other hand, I think she was on to something when she suggested the hammock. That would be something O could do....lie in a hammock and watch the clouds drift by.

I really need to correct papers now. really...I need to get some work done......

Thanks Aleta,

I wish I could have better described Miguel's facial contortions when Octavio asked him if Maricruz was aware of the ranch sale. That was some excellent acting.

Thanks Variopinta,

I so enjoyed Sergio Sendel's dramatic phone tosses. I guess it's a bit like delivering slaps... some just have a knack.

Thanks Susanlynn,

after Judy's story about the walker and then that expression on Santa's face... well, how could I resist?

Sort of like the lie/lay thing, but Judy wouldn't bite this time. We've had a few discussions about that over the years, haven't we? I think that it never hurts to review a bit of grammar.

Thanks Adriana Noel,

getting back to the ranch should really be an adventure. I also thought that Maricruz held out the possibility of renewing their unique and special friendship for the governor. Hey, his hair still has that youthful sheen.

Carlos

Carlos, another most enjoyable recap! Thanks for adding the photos, too.
Many of the great lines have already been cited. I also liked Solita's son being forever nameless and Ofelia wishing she had served MC breakfast way back when.
Sign me up for the Simona R&R program, except for the cow milking option.
A nomination for JA & Ester--Most Boring Secondary Couple.

Thanks Paloma,

just wait until Ester's neighborhood renewal plan gets going. Everyone is gonna want to live in Realengo.

Carlos

Simona offered Octavio the job of running her rancho. But who said, that she really mean that? She is tooo good in business, so no way she will alloy him to do something. Her only plan is to offer him a job of her husband. And in her rancho, I think, she will have good chances. Our galan simply cant live like a single man. He proposed to every girl he met after every break up.
And who said, that we will take everybody to the rancho? Our Solita still in Mexico even if MA promised her father to bring her to the Isla. So all our Isla stuff can stay in Isla while we will talk about them in rancho.
In this novela they so easily forget about characters.

I thought that JA was running Simona's ranch, and even if he's not, he's got to have more knowledge of running a ranch than Octavio does. Miguel thinks that he can't go back to that area since he's a wanted man, so is he going to be out of the show for a while during the time that everyone is there?

As usual,I am too late for anyone to read since I record the program and watch it a day later. However I have to weigh in on the lie/lay dilemma. My suggesting is to think about eggs. Hen's lay eggs. Eggs are the object of the very--the receiver of the action. If you use lay in the present tense you MUST have an object. You can lay a book down but you cannot lay down.

Make that the object of the verb, not the very. Proofread!

Thanks, Carlos. Your recaps are always hilarious and so, too, your take on the captions for your screen caps which really capture the moment.

Maybe this has been mentioned before by someone. I know that Fernando Colunga has been crowned by many Caray! fans as TMBMOE (The Most Beautiful Man On Earth.) Has it been suggested that we nominate Octavio, aka Oblivio, as TMSMOE (The Most Stupid Man on Earth?)

Thanks all for the clarification of when to use lying vs laying. I would practice but when the situation
arose go blank again. I think your suggestions will
be the answer.

cathyx, JA simply works on Simona's rancho and I dont think that he even capataz. I think, that JA works as usual peon.
Besides, Octavio is not so bad. When he worked on their rancho things started to be better. It was Lucia, who didn't want to see him on her rancho. Even if he was useful.

MA/MC plans on being the agent of change back at the ranch. She will build a chapel, a school and probably totally transform the free lands into a thriving self-sustaining, enterprise run by women. I look for Solita and the monkey to return by the end of this TN.
But things will not be easy for MA/MC. Lucia probably will try to kill her or burn the ranch which might prompt Lucia finally being sent to jail or the nuthouse. Not sure if Miguel will survive but if he does he'll have to work on the ranch. As for Octavio, he will eventually leave Simona's ranch and return to MC but of course this will involve a conflict between MC and Simona who does not like the wild woman. The drama, I think, will begin to switch from the Isla to the ranch, a more natural setting for our wild child.

Wow. The game DID live up to all the hype, Carlos. Hope Darla enjoyed it even if her son's team lost (duh, of course she didn't) but it was sure exciting for us neutral observers.

Rather dreading the turns this CI story will take. I don't want to see Lucia planning any more vengeance on Maricruz. Or burning and sacking the ranch. Better fasten my seat belt right now, I'm afraid we're in for a rough ride in the next couple of weeks.

Alegria,

"Our galan simply can't live like a single man."

I hadn't thought of it like that because Octavio doesn't really seem to have much of a knack or enthusiasm for being a husband, but you're right, from the very beginning of the show it has seemed as though he never see's being single as a viable option. You would think that after the Maricruz as wife adventure that he'd be at least a little bit wary of being married.

Welcome MollyC,

and thanks for joining us here. Please don't be reluctant to comment here no matter how late it seems. No matter who's recapped, I know that I always look back for the later comments. Whenever I recap for a show, at least once during the TN, when the opportunity arises and if Dr. Judy is a participant, I'll bring up the lie/lay thing. I don't even remember the first time it ever came up, but I enjoy keeping that memory alive.

Thanks Gin,

I'm so glad to see that you're enjoying this show with us.

"TMSMOE?

Did you watch El Talismán? I think Pedro from ET would have a real shot at that title as well.

Carlos

CARLOS---Your picture captions are a riot, Where's my walker? You're bad. I'll put the Srarbucks over there? Right cappuccino's and latte's for the pueblo. Why didn't Ester think of that? Oh there's a water problem, I forgot.
Carlos---Forget about the bed with rose petals. I don't think that I could stand to watch the gov even if he kept his robe on.

Adriana Noel---Sounds like fun out on the patio, no IOU's. YEAH!!!

The lie--lay--lain--laid is making my head spin and I was born here. I
don't think that I will ever get it right.

I will welcome the action returning
to the rancho in Tamaulipas, the area where Maricruz grew up. Mari has good ideas for the rancho and help/work for the local people. I hope that Ester will be able to join with her. That is, if Lucifer leaves Maricruz with anything to work with. I forsee much trouble ahead for Maricruz. One look into Lucifer's evil eyes Friday night said it all. I cant wait for Monday
night to get back to this boring/booring?? novela. LOL Is it boring or booring? The Kings English drives me crazy. Maybe Spanish is easier and not so confusing.

If MA/MC is now the owner of the ranch, isn't half of it once again the property of her husband, Dumtavio? Except if Dumtavio marries Simona!

I see the LuvGuv with Carola as the gobernadora, until they are accused of some infamia and retreat to a small second tier town and open up a hair salon, Mister Bartolomé's, with Carola at the front desk.

Yes JudyB---I think that Lucifer will now be operating at "full rage" now that she knows that Maricruz bought the rancho. Seat belts? Yes, I'm afraid that we will
be needing them from this point on,
it's not going to be pretty. We have to hope for some blue skys toward the end because I don't think that we will see much sun for a while.

Just a thought---Crazy Doris is not done yet. She gave Maricruz such a hard time over Oblivio, wouldn't it be fun to see her start in on Simona? "No ones going to take my Octavio."

Anon,

"MA/MC plans on being the agent of change back at the ranch...and probably totally transform the free lands into a thriving self-sustaining, enterprise run by women."

I've no doubt after her little speech to Miguel that Maricuz probably has grandiose and noble plans for the ranch and the surrounding community. This brings me back to gringo's plea:

Hurry Maricruz, Ester needs your help."

I love the idea of those two somehow uniting forces to accomplish great things, but Ester and Lucía are cousins and I doubt that Maricruz remembers Ester fondly. Couple that with the fact that Ester's husband is in love with Maricruz. Things should really get interesting back in the old neighborhood.

Judy,

that was a very exciting game right up to the very end. You must be very happy with OSU's game as well.

As for what's coming up, Lucía seems to like fire as a problem solver and what better way to keep someone from touching your stuff?

Carlos

Daniela, Tav doesn't have any claims on Mari's inheritance - that would have come up before now. So whatever property she buys with her inherited fortune is only hers.

Carlos thanks so much for this amusing recap and great captions. I do feel for your great disappointment in the Luv Guv not making a love connection with Mari. Unfortunately for the Guv she does use those dimples as weapons and weakened him significantly; the poor man couldn't even think straight.

And thank you for your comments about the worse galan from a few days ago. ITA w/both your choices of Jero and Rog. I had to stop watching both those TNs (though I did return to CME once Jero's torture phase was over) b/c they were just too much for me.

I'll be happy when we leave the island but Lucia needs to be locked up before Mari goes back to the ranch. My hope is that Doris, the Guv, et al will all be a bad memory.

daniela,

"Mister Bartolomé's"? Heh heh.

Thanks Karen,

and thanks for understanding my disappointment. I'm glad that someone shares my disgust for Jerónimo and Rogelio. I did, however, enjoy those Cheerios commercials with letters for Juan.

Carlos

Carlos -- I absolutely LUURVE (thank you so much Vivi for introducing that fabulous verb to me) your wicked and irreverent sense of humor. I howled at the captions under the photos this time.

We are having a Northwest thunderstorm, so had better shut the electronics down.

Thanks emeraldrose,

I'm so glad that you came back and caught the photos and captions. I'm so glad that Vivi offered to post them as well as the recap.

Carlos

I just hope MC follows through on her redevelopment plans for the ranch. I studied planning and community gardens are often mentioned as a way to improve neighborhoods, and Esther is way ahead on that idea. Well, not WAY ahead, but ahead a little bit.

Next Esther needs to work on putting in the bike lanes. And getting bikes.

Kelly

Carlos, thank you for another sly and impish recap. Your prose and pictures never disappoint. I did really did LOL at,

"Agreed. We'll Do That Love Scene For Carlos." And, with dimples galore!

"Heck, she had me at hammock…." ITA! Maybe we can get Simona to host a CarayCaray getaway.

Susanlynn, the tutorial was appreciated! I've put it into the notes on my phone….Thanks!

I thought MA was really off her game in this episode. How could she be surprised at Doris' actions? And MA met with Doris just to rant, no planning, no negotiating. MA still had the power to offer to back off of marrying her father at that point or allowing a public (discreet and tasteful) dumping of MA by the Guv. MA went to Doris with no strategy. Definite venganza victory for la hija del gobernador.

MA then faltered again in her trip to the Guv. Instead of leading off with the argument that Tav's expulsion was damaging to her daughter, she defends Tav and insults our Guv. This approach really opened his eyes at last. Though MC gets what she needs at the end, her Luv Guv now downgrades her to not good enough to wed but still hot enough to bed.

I would love to see Ester be the first character to actually approach Maricruz to sincerely apologize to her and ask for forgiveness. I am beginning to doubt anyone else, including Oblivio, ever will.

I want to give Octavio credit for so easily giving up his half of the ranch. No rancor, no reproaches. He has really been very supportive of his big brother.

Barbara

Carlos, you are a most witty funny guy!!!!! Only thing is why are you a big fan of Bug eyed Shut up Doris?
I love "Dimples" and for me she's so intelligent. It's so satisfying to watch her grow. That when she was a "savage", she was treated as an ignoramus and was so downtrodden and so allowed these people to treat her as such. she was accepting everything thrown at her. But now that she has acquired education, wealth and power, she transformed to this most intelligent and confident woman who will not allow anyone to ever mistreat her again. I admire her for that.
Another person I am really loving is Esther. Her tenacity to maintain her position in her new social environment is something else. I do hope that when Maricruz gets there, that she would help finance Esther's dream of teaching the children of Realongo.

Felice día de "El Grito" ¡Viva Mexico!

Carlos: You may be un medico, but you're still my hero--I had so much fun reading this one! Judy's mentioned a few of my fav's already, but this is what I had time to note and memo in between guffaws:

"she's a step ahead of Octavio and smells a well-manicured rat"

"I Can't Remember Where I Left My Walker"
--ooooh, cruel! But ROTFLOL funny!

"I guess she means that someone will finally pick those oranges." (I'm choking on that last swallow of my breakfast...and just forget any of the O.J.!! --You don't wanna know!)

"José Antonio shouts at Ester. She shouts back...better." I think she's wearing him down--like Chines water torture.

"She even suggests that he confiscate the casino." (I'm sure that Exmir Karim might have something to say about ex-naying that. And it isn't nice putting one over on a top notch male chauvinist from the land where it all began.)

"She offers [Tav] to return to her ranch with her. He can run the place." (Like he ran his own so well, huh…..)

"No Champagne, no rose petals, no flickering candles... " (--AND, no limp di!@k excuses from the LuvGuv which, IMNSHO, would be one great punishment from theTN gods for the two-timing nasty, little self-serving SOB!} Come to think of it Doris is just another chip off the o-o-o-o-ld block, I'd say! Anybody want to bet she's a demanding cold fish in bed?

Thanks for making my day, doc.

Kelly,

I like the idea of bike lanes. Like I said earlier, I'm wondering how and if Ester and Maricruz will make peace.

Thanks Barbara.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the recap. Your evaluation of Maricruz's lack of thinking things out before acting is right on target.

Thanks Vida2,

I think that Doris is hilarious. She is similar to Nikki in AV, but not as endearing. I'm holding out no hope for her to reveal a sensitive warm side, but she is so much fun to watch.

Thanks Jardinera,

It is such a treat to be on a recapping team with you and I'm thrilled that you find my efforts amusing.

Carlos

I could see MC and Ester teaming up to improve the plight of the poor people. And hopefully Ester will apologize to MC for her earlier mistreatment of her.

I hope that Ester can makeup and work together---they have to, they just have to. They would be a perfect combo for Realongo.

Kelly---Would those new bike lanes lead to the Starbucks that will be going into Realongo soon?

CorgiMom/Barbara---Not good enough to wed but still good enough to bed
LOL

Boring moment after boring moment Sweet Doris goes on another rempage
tonight with Simona looking on and
Lucifer gets ready to go down to the rancho--will she be up to her evil mischief? 10 hours to wait to experience boredom. Can CI get here a little sooner, I can't wait.
Oh these loooong weekends.
the gringo

Looks like Hurricane Ingrid just slammed into el Rancho Narvaez. Huge amounts of rain.

I had my eye on it because I had a flight out of McAllen this morning, and that hurricane got pretty close. Fortunately just a little heavy turbulence and no delays.

Gringo- If we're going to do this right, then no Starbucks. It has to be a mom-and-pop coffee shop with fair-trade, locally roasted organic beans. Ofelia can be the new barrista. And maybe Octavio can get a job working at the Trader Joe's!

Kelly

Kelly---I'm all for it, it sounds great. A mom-and-pop coffee shop in Realongo using only fair traded coffee beans. Octavio working at the Trader Joe's? Not sure, would he go for that?
the gringo

P.S. for La Paloma:
I did catch up with Thurs.'s recap and wanted to give you a special TQ for cheering up my day with that witty snark of yours. 2 thumbs up and a snap!
