Corazon Indomable # 98 The Magic Dimples Work Like Magic

Miguel tells Octavio he wants to turn himself in now because he only has a son to live for, and I guess that’s not enough. Miguelito sure got in the wrong line when they were handing out parents. Octavio tries to convince him to let him help. Miguel agrees that the reason he’s in trouble to begin with is because Octavio brought that woman to their home. What Octavio should have said was; just because I brought her to our home, it didn’t give you the right to mistreat her like you did. She was my wife and your wife was terrible with her, and you continually backed Lucia up when I defended her. No one deserved to be treated that way, and you both deserve what’s coming to you now. But instead, Octavio really said; you’re right, it is my fault so that’s why I want to help you now.

Awfulia thinks that the note’s handwriting is ugly and Simona agrees. Simona reads it and mentions it’s anonymous. It reads: You have a lot of money and I know a secret that I can tell the police, and  the man who’s hiding in you house can go to jail or worse. So you’ll have to put $15,000 behind the big rock by the river near the carob tree as soon as possible. Simona can’t believe the amount of money. Awfulia tells her to burn it, but Simona wants to show it to Octavio. Awfulia says it must be from MC, trying to get close to Octavio again. She convinces her of that, so Simona rips it up and tells her to burn it. Then repeats, Only death will separate Octavio and me, and since that’s the third time I’ve heard her say that, I think the monkey writers are trying to give us a hint to the future. And also, TN rules state that if a couple is married in the church, only death will separate them.

MC is talking to herself when JA rides up. He asks her if she’s at the border of the ranches in hopes of seeing Octavio. They argue about it, blah, blah, blah. He professes his loyalty to her and they repeat that he would kill him to defend her. This set up is so obvious, even Oblivio might catch on.

Since Twinsebio hasn’t heard from Simona, he will send a letter to Octavio.

Oblivio is having his coffee and asks Awfulia if she would be willing to testify about how bad a guy Eusebio was. She said yes.

Funny scene where Twinsebio runs ten feet to whisper something to another guy, who runs ten feet to whisper to nosy neighbor, who runs ten feet to whisper to Ester, who runs ten feet to her shack to tell JA that they will all get kicked off the land because they found gold in the river and around. If it was that easy to find, why didn’t the inhabitants collect it and get enough money to leave? Just askin’.

At breakfast, an unnamed housekeeper informs Simona, Octavio, and Miguel that the people on the freelands will have to vacate soon. Simona, now called Snobona, is happy about that, who wants such lowlifes so close to their highlifes? Of course wet noodle Miguel agrees, they’re yucky after all, but thankfully Octavio is a bit appalled by their attitudes. But Snobona and Wetnoodlemiguel won’t hear of it. Octavio gets frustrated and leaves, but Snobona warns him that he better not get into trouble, (read kiss MC here). She tells Miguel that she can’t stand it when he’s out of her sight. Miguel asks why, and Simona says she’s worried about what MC can make him do. And Miguel says, and this is what he really says, Octavio can’t be influenced by any woman, especially by MC. Can we believe our ears? How clueless can a character be about another? Don't answer that.

JA runs to MC’s office and tells her the same news. She suggests that they could live on  part of her land but JA is against that. Does she know about all of the lowlifes who live there? She wouldn’t want them living so close to her. She comes back with the fact that she grew up just like all those people, and helping them to help themselves is the idea she has. She then magic dimples him and he give in. Who can resist them?

MA rides to the freelands to talk with Ester. She wants to know what is really happening there, and since Ester is the only one who has a highschool education, she thought Ester would know more. They argue about respect and position, blah blah blah. Octavio rides up right at this time also. Ester accuses her of planning on meeting him there, MC rolls her eyes and snarks back that yes, she plans all of her trysts at Ester’s shack because it’s such a great place to get it on. Ester invites Octavio in but MC says that Octavio will come with her instead, and flashes the magic dimples.  Ester asks Octavio if he’s going with her, and he says that MC means nothing to him now, and to prove it, he is leaving with her. That’s the way to prove it Oblivio! Follow her. I wish I had a set of magic dimples.

Simona visits the doctor. She has been feeling tired, dizzy and weak lately. Doesn’t she know she’s pregnant? Now the doctor tells her she’s pregnant. OK, I thought she knew already. I’m confused because I haven’t been watching the show if I didn’t have to recap it so I have been reading the recaps to keep up, but I thought her pregnancy was already known.

The rep of the owners of Realengo is informing the people that they will give them a little bit of money to compensate them for having to leave. The people don’t want it, they want to stay. MC and Octavio hear the commotion and MC goes to investigate it. The rep brings out the silver brief case that we know has money in it because all silver brief cases do. He hands out the money and takes a picture of everyone who gets the money. MC tells everyone not to stop taking the money, they need to demand more.

Simona comes home and asks unnamed housekeeper if Octavio is home. No, and how did the doctor visit go? Pregnant, and unnamed housekeeper then tells her that she has to have another right away so that this one isn’t an only child because onlys grow up unhappy and arrogant. Now I have an only child and I think she would disagree with that, and so would I. She’s happy and not arrogant at all. But she does hate to share, that’s been a problem and I think she’s going to have a hard lesson to learn when she has to share a dorm room in a few years. But I digress. Simona wonders where Octavio is.

The rep wonders who this lady is, and his coworker says it must be some human rights worker. They try to get rid of her. MC announces that she will give them 5 hectares of her land for them to live on. And then she tells everyone that Octavio will do the same with 5 hectares of Simona’s ranch too. Octavio is speechless. Commercial break.

Simona is still worried about Octavio’s absence. Miguel steps into it as he sits at the lunch table. Simona just knows that he’s with her, and that it was her lipstick on his shirt.
Miguel still thinks it was just something Octavio picked up at work that day, not lipstick. But Miguel has learned a few tricks to calm a worried woman down after being married to Luciafer. He tells her that Octavio is liking her more each day and he’s changing. And little by little he’s forgetting MC. She seems pleased with this. Then he suggests that they take a long trip somewhere to get away from MC. Simona tells Mig that she’s pregnant. Miguel is overjoyed by the news and says that this will cement Oblivio to her now. He’ll forget all about his other child.

Octavio agrees to give up the land after MC puts him on the spot. Now, how will the spineless one tell Snobona? MC insists the the owners also compensate them with enough money to buy building materials, seed, and farm animals. The rep agrees.

Alone, Octavio tells MC that he can’t just give away Simona’s land. MC reminds him that he’s married now and he owns the land too. Can’t wait for that conversation.

Simona is fretting about Octavio’s loyalty when he finally arrives home. Could he be trustworthy? Let's see, she caught them kissing and he had lipstick on his shirt on their wedding day. Absolutely.

MC is back at her office telling JA that Octavio was furious when she offered up his land for the poors. JA is also furious that she is giving away the land. She accuses him of being like the other rich JA’s who hate the poors. He fires back that she’s not giving the land away because she’s altruistic, she just wanted to show off her new wealth. This actually gives MC pause.

Octavio tells Snobona that he’s been at the freelands. She doesn’t want him near those lowlifes and he tells her to not talk that way, they are just like them, only poorer. Then she tells him she’s pregnant. Octavio is very happy at the news. He’ll finally have a child that he can see.

JA comes storming home. His shirt is ripped and Ester better take care of it, instead of sitting around eating bon bons all day. She’s not going to live on MC’s land. JA asks where will she live then? She’ll stay close to the dead baby. Not sure how she’ll manage that unless she moves the grave.

Octavio is stewing over his new situation when Miguel approaches. Miguel asks him what’s up and is he happy about the new baby coming? Of course, but he just promised to give 5 hectares away to the poor people and he isn’t sure how to tell Simona. Take it away La Paloma. You get to recap that conversation tomorrow.

I have to work today, but will try to check in as much as possible.

Great recap and I love your snark!

For once I smiled watching this show. It was when MC gave away Tav's land. The look on his face was priceless.

Simona will dig herself an early grave if she sits around all day worrying about where and with whom Tav is. And I am already tired of her nagging and controlling.

I wish Solita would arrive. Will Tobias come with her? That huge house in Mexico should be rented out for money.

I hope they introduce some new, flamboyant characters soon. I'm missing the eye candy of Isla Dorada.

@cathyx - I haven't read your recap yet, but I noted you labeled it #98. It's actually #97. Now on to read the recap.

@Carvivlie - new, flamboyant characters? Be careful what you wish for...it just might happen.

Great recap Cathyx! Thanks.

I didn't see the episode yet, but even not watching it, I want to hit all of these characters upside the head.

How is Simona's land automatically Tav's land? The Narvaez ranch wasn't automatically Lucia's or Mari's? They never had rights to decide how to sell or divide it. How would Tav have any right to make such a decision over Simona's lands?

Cathyx- The pregnancy was in the previews from the other day. That's really why we shouldn't discuss the previews because it becomes confusing. And if a show is like PEAM, where they show people's fantasies often in the previews, then it really gets confusing.

@cathyx - excellent recap. I loved all the references to the "magic dimples" and your lamentation that you don't have them. I have dimples, but they are certainly not "magic". sigh

Oh, re: the scene where MC returns to her office and argues with JackAss about her giving away five hectares, did anyone notice that during their argument MC said it was no big deal because "I still have 40 hectares left?" When she discussed Miguel's IOUs with Octavio many episodes ago, she noted that they were secured by their "200 hectare ranch", but now apparently it was only 45 hectares. Our marvelous recapper for that episode specifically noted in the recap that it was 200 hectares. Oblivious monkey writers!!!

Loved the recap. Your first paragraph said it all. Tav never stood up for MC.He never truly defended her. I think all MC needed was for the Narvaez to admit their wrongs, express true remorse, regret and offer sincere apologies.

I was throughly disgusted by Simona's words (esa gentuza)and every thing about JA.

I believe the housekeeper is Simona's nana.

On a personal note, as the mother of an only child, I completely agree with you. It's all about how children are raised.

Thanks cathyx for a great recap.

I just looked up how much a hectare is. One hectare is about 2 1/2 acres. So 5 hectares is 12.5 acres, plus Octavio's 5 hectares, the poors are getting a nice size plot of land.

Thanks for the great recap and confirming for me that I was better off not watching last night. Gees, these people.

Where did Simona go and who is the person using her name? Did the dye job on her hair seeped into her brain? She and Doris could be BFF's now with no problems. Tav, you thought you escaped the frying pan? Meet the fire.

And Miguel is apparently back to his judgemental self. For a dweeb who couldn't run a ranch or qualify for a decent job until recently, he's one to stick his nose up at these folks.

Even MC - if JA pointed out how once again she spoke before she thought, good for him even though he could go drown in the local river right now for all I care. Ester would be better off. So she offers land...do these people have a job offer to go with it? Or does she already have them working on her ranch with such crap wages they can't afford anything better. HMMMMM?????

Think I liked the plot better back at the Isla.

Daisynjay

LatinaMD: I guess I'm just looking for some new characters to lighten things up a bit---without all of the emotional baggage and fighting we currently have. I miss the crazy Karim too, but not Doris. Though I would like to see Doris go ape crazy on Simona. MA is nothing to Doris!

Unfinished business----
Right Kelly about Lucia and Miguel,
but now Octavio is married to
"another woman." Mari still loves him, yeah I know, love and hate. He never came back to her and told her that he was sorry for all of the pain he caused her and if she would forgive him and give him a second chance, he would spend the rest of his life making it up to her. He never said any of that, so it's "not time" for the vengeance to be over. Now one more has been added to her list--$imona. I hope that she makes $imona's cattle walk 10 miles to get water. And
"NO" Mari doesn't need therapy but Oblivio might before Mari gets through with him. Oh, and Kelly, Mari just might win some urban planning awards before this is all over.

Julia---I don't think that a little school and a church will bankrupt Mari either, but lengthly
court battles with $imona might.

Utah Desert---So funny. $imona is making up for the eyeliner that Ester isn't using.

Anonymous 9/25 7:31---Right, no rose petals or candles but he knows how to make babies.

Oh, Adriana Noel please---Maricruz loves Lupita. Juat because the writers don't show her changing diapers doesn't mean that Lupita isn't loved. You are way out in left field, come back to reality. There were several sweet mother daughter scenes. You forgot about those.

Alegria---9/25 6:51---100% right.
Vengeance? Mari made Lucifer taste some mud, big deal!! Lucifer's tears soon dried up and she got over it. Twin-sebio was driving her mad, not Mari. Miguel? He did it to himself, no one forced him to gamble the ranch away or to COMMIT MURDER. Alegria, you are 100% correct. For all the criers crying for the vengeance to stop, I ask, what vengeance? It hasen't even started yet. Other novelas are and have been far worse than this one in the meaness/vengeance
catagory.

One last thing before I get to today's recap---I'm not 100% agains $imona but I don't shed any tears for her either. She knew early on the truth about Maricruz and did nothing to help her. Why?
because she had her rich nose in the air procting and standing by her rich friend Lucifer. Then when she knew that One Cell and Maricruz were having problems, she moved in. $imona knew that One Cell didn't love her but she married him anyway, I think for her own self enjoyment but also to hurt Maricruz---you know, "the savage." So Mari wears a white dress to her wedding. Tacky? I say that Tav and $imona both deserved it. Good going Mari.
the gringo

Oh my, we're getting into murky territory here but you did a great job of recapping this, CathyX.

As I recall, Simona, in her pre-wedding rapture kept promising Octavio that all she had would be HIS. So theoretically, as the titular head of the family, he can choose what to do with the land. When I lived in Switzerland, there was no community property, everything the woman had was deeded over to her husband when she married. I think now there is a choice in Mexican marital law, but nevertheless, in most families, the husband rules. Punto. Still, I'm sure there will be a big dustup when Simona finds out. Ay yi yi.

Sign me up if there are any Magic Dimples being passed out. I could use some too.

I can't believe how snarky JA is/has become I feel sorry for Simona, She is really being used by the men in her life. Wake up girl, before you loose a lot more than your self respect. You are no match for MC even with an alliance with Ester. MA/MC what is your next move?? I hope it to shop more a more appropriate ranch wardrobe. Your style is beginning to look a lot like Lucia's, same old same old every day.

Great recap CathyX

Gringo-

I see Mari's revenge the same way you do, and differently.

You are precisely right. Karma is really what has taken care of Mari's enemies. Mari hasn't done much. That's my biggest complaint. She goes on and on about her revenge-- carping about it; whining about it; yelling about it. But she hasn't actually done much except act out like a crazy harpy when she gets jealous about another woman having Tav.

She did two calculating and planned things in service of her revenge: 1) Hired Raiza to encourage Miguel to drink and gamble his lands away until he had to sell it to her. Great job!; and 2) Got Lucia to eat mud in front of a crowd. Also great.

But neither of these things would have been possible if Miguel and Lucia hadn't just happened to randomly end up on the island. What would she have done had they not showed up? She was too busy playing stupid jealousy games with Tav and Doris, Karim, and the Gov, and squabbling with Carola over the casino. She was wasting time, but still whining every moment she could get about her revenge on the Narvaez.

She doesn't lift a finger to dig deeper about her sister's rape or grandpa's murder. If so, then she would take time to reflect on the fact that her sister's rapist and grandpa's murder, Ewsebio, was dead.

She says her going to the wedding was about revenge, but it wasn't. Simona wasn't even a blip on her radar screen, until she became a love interest for Tav. All this current drama is about jealousy, plain and simple. Yet, she keeps going on and on about her vengeance. Basta with the whining. Shut up already! Karma already took care of her enemies. She should just be honest and admit that she just doesn't want the miserable SOB she used to be married to, to be with another woman, and that’s why she’s determined to make his life hell.

Vivi, I'm pretty sure she's admitted that she doesn't want Oblivio for herself, but she doesn't want him to be with anyone else either.

Cathyx- Yep. She's had a few moments of honesty and admitted it to herself. But then she slips into vengeance talk again, which is not what this is about.

If we are truly looking at MA's finances she really hasn't loss much. First off, she ended up paying less for the ranch because of the money Miguel owed her. Miguel borrowed MA's money and then basically funneled it back to her through gambling and drinking at the casino. He then had to repay it so MA doubled her original investment in Miguel's downfall. So basically she pay anything for the ranch. Miguel's half was paid back to her through his gambling and his pay back of those borrowed funds paid for Tav's half.

Karim paid a rational price for her share of that one casino. So money wise she is way ahead.

Cathyx---Thank you for the recap.
Your opening paragraph was right on perfect. And I must say that she then magic dimples him and he gives in, who can resist them--was perfect also, a gold star line.
Cathyx, you said that you don't watch the shows and you didn't want to recap Maricruz doing good and becoming a local hero, too bad.

Nothing but negativity. Right Daisynjay, she's going to make em all work for below minimum wage, that's our Mari.

Alegria hit it right on the nose yesterday. Mari is critized for being a sick, vengeful person in need of therapy---now she is being critized for trying to help the poor. You guys are amazing. Alegria, keep it up, you're right on target.

I do agree with some of you that the best part of last night's show was the look on One Cell's face when Maricruz commited some of Tav's and $imona's land for the poor. That was priceless. It probably will also be priceless when Nose In The Air $simona who looks down on the poor finds out that Tav One Cell has given some of their/hers land to them. I CAN'T
WAIT--I CAN'T WAIT--I CAN'T WAIT.

Vivi---I agree with your last sentence. $imona wasn't on her radar screen and now she's jealous.
Ok, I'll give you that but $imona is still gonna pay. Mari Ain't/isn't movin' on.
Miguel---Yes, he had some, a little encouragement, but he could have said no. His fault, not Mari's
the gringo

Gringo- You're not giving Mari enough credit. In fact you're making her look even more incompetent at her revenge by not acknowledging the brilliance of her taking advantage of Miguel's weak nature to get him to gamble and drink his land away. It was by far one of the smartest and shrewdest things she did. I wish she would approach more things with such insight, foresight and a cool head.

Gringo, I just looked up the minimum wage in Mexico, and it averages about 65 pesos a day for farm workers. That is about $5.00 a day. I've visited Mexico and there is no way to get by on even close that amount. No wonder Realengo was so crowded and it must have been true that JA couldn't afford food when he was working for Simona.
I haven't read anyone criticizing MC for helping anyone. She's being criticized for continued vengeance when the main people who she wanted revenge against are dead. But people seem to be happy that she wants to help the poor people.

I think, that MC is too good person. That is why she can only talk about the revenge, but not act. And I'm sure, that it's enough for her.
Alegria

Alegria- That's a good way of looking at it. Hopefully she'll soon realize that about herself too.

Thanks, Cathyx, for the great recap. I can't wait until Simona fin out about hectars donated by Odtavio to the poor of Realengo whom she really despises.

Jarifa

Can't wait to see Simona back up her "what's mine is yours" promises to Octavio. If she refuses, he'll probably just gloss over it and say, like a mindless robot, "okay." Or maybe he won't even remember she made that promise to him, of being able to do whatever he wants with EVERYTHING that is hers.

How can JA act so high and mighty, talking trash about "those people" when he is one of "those people?" Doesn't he live in Realengo also? He goes on his tirades about "los ricos" and then, just because he is now married to a former "rica" he automatically considers himself better than his peers. What a poor excuse of a poor, but proud, man!

Mari "negotiated" her land for their homes, Octavio's land for the people to "work" (grow food, animals to eat, etc) and the Realengo owners' money to buy whatever they need to get a start (building materials, seed for planting, feed for animals, etc). Even though she did this on the spur of the moment, she seems to have thought it through, as to what the people will need.

MariCruz is really not likable right now in her exaggerated "venganza" quest, but I still give her a pass because she is still, for all intents and purposes, still a teenager (maturity-wise). Her time growing up with her Abuelo did nothing to further her life skills education. She's chronologically barely out of her teens, but is probably as mature as a middle school kid and now doing all those "teenager-y" things. She has flashes of brilliance and maturity every now and then, of course. I think she's doing quite well against more supposedly sophisticated (and rich) adults.

Thanks for this delightful recap cathyx. I really appreciate that you are sticking with us in the effort to keep the interest in these ludicrous improbable characters as they pursue their even more ludicrous improbable existence.

Adriana Noel, I think your assessment of Maricruz in your last comment yesterday was dead on. I don't think anyone mentioned how Juanita was dressed but as I recall she was wearing shorts and a rather plain blouse. She was more or less Maricruz's caddy with Lupita whom Maricruz shamelessly used as a prop.

Maricruz is doing her darnedest to prove the saying:

Mono vestido de seda mono queda.

Carlos

I was referring of course to the way that Juanita was dressed at the wedding.

Carlos

I posted a comment earlier but for some reason it didn't take. There was a comment about the very funny game of telephone they were playing in Realengo. It's a wonder Esther, at the end of the line, understood what was going on.

But I do approve of this latest revenge scheme. Simona didn't deserve the personal attack/humiliation at the wedding, but it wouldn't kill her to lose a little land. No one gets hurt, MC doesn't look petty and childish, and the poor people get some property to put the non-Starbucks coffee shop. Everyone wins! Mostly.

I think it's eyeliner that makes people evil. Simona was ok before she got that makeover.

Kelly

Kelly- Perhaps it's a mix between Tav's chapstick and the eyeliner? LOL!

I also think the giving away land thing is a good idea in theory, and it will be good for Miguel and Simona to live near people in poverty. Perhaps it will open their eyes a bit more and reduce their ignorance. Tav really doesn't care one way or the other.

But, this does have to be planned well. You can't just plop a bunch of people down in one spot and think there won't be any effect on the land and the animals around them. People produce a lot of waste (all types). How does human sewage (with no sanitation) affect water sources? If those water sources are polluted, how does that affect crops and animals that are nourished by that water? If your crops start getting irrigated with human feces, what kind of major ripple effect will you have?

There's a lot to think about here, and there are plenty of reasons to not have an overnight colony of people pop up on, or near, farm land.

Could the water get any worse than the sludge that it is? Maybe Esther could build a water purification plant, or one that recycles sewage waste. Of course, she'll also have to put in the pipes, but I'm sure she can handle it.

Kelly

Tks cathyx

I don't know when I have seen 2 brothers as stupid & ridiculous as the Narváez hermanos.

Migugh tells Oblivio he ONLY has his son so he is going to turn himself in.
And as if that isn't enough, he tells $imona that Oblivio will forget his other child after the birth of her kid.

Variopinta- Miguel and Tav must have been dropped on their heads (multiple times) as infants.

I can only imagine what Daniel and Rene thought each day when they got the script and saw the ridiculous things they had to say.

At least ABC got the pleasure of chewing the scenery and being the center of the drama with her crazy Mari lines. But Tav and Miguel are just lame characters.

D & R probably went to the nearest bar after a days shooting this estupidez.

Your enthusiasm about recapping this tn is refreshing! LOL! Cynderella

Wonderful recap, Cathyx. Thanks.
Now this is the real MC we are all wanting to see. MA/MC also was showing this kind of compassion to the poor people when she was telling Exmir to why not return to his country and help his people and spend the money to help them. She's doing the same right now. I really hate Octavio to end up with her but in defense of him, Wasn't he defending these lowlifes too against the snobbery of "WetnoodlesMiguel" and "Snobona"? While true, he is not really planning to give 5 HAS but he is willing to allow them to be given a place to live and for them to work the land in exchange. While he really can't give away the land, Snobona did give him permission to do what he is thinking for after all he is the manager of "their" land.
am still wishing for Esther and MC to kiss and make up and join forces to make the poor children happy and educated.
As for Awfelia, she can go to hell.
