La Tempestad #45-9/27/13:The Recapper Who Flew By The Seat of Her Pants, Or The Flotsom and Jetsom of This Capitulo!

Ahoy, Tempestad Maties! I am doing this recap mainly from memory. Things will not be in order as usual. I am combining some scenes to make the recap flow better. I got my flu shot this morning so if I got something wrong, I am blaming it on that ; ) Please let me know if I made any errors and I will fix them ; )

Black is Black, I Want My Baby Back:
DamDepressed is just lying on his bunk, when Claudio comes in and tells him, time is awastin', not that, but he can't stay in the cell all day. Go play some basketball for goodness sake! Claudio, bless his heart, has gotten through to DamAlrightI'llGo, and they do.

We are men, who says we can't gossip:
The crew of the Tempestad are at Candy's club, and talking about Marina and the hand holding Herny! They are so not liking that, but Candy reminds them that DamDumb dumped Marina so what about that, hmmmm..... It just so happens that the subject of the gossip, appears right at Lolo's elbow. She wants them to get crackin' as in go back to work. They agree, and then Lolo, Mr. I just gotta know, wants to know if he can ask her something, and before any of the boys can stop him, Lolo asks her about that Herny guy, waz up with that? Marina reminds him and the guys, hey DamDumb dumped me, so what about that? They have nothin' to say!

No Sleeping on the Job, Eva!
Nereo is sleepin' on the job, too much booze for him! Laz and Jaz/Lu are there, awaiting their chance to steal that cellphone. Jaz/Lu checks his jacket, not there, so Jaz/Lu gingerly checks his pants pockets and for a minute there, it looks like he is gonna wake up, but she successfully gets that cellphone and gives it to Laz. She warns Laz to hurry up and get it back so she doesn't get in trouble. He swears it will be back, lickety split!

Mexico City:
Alicia has brought a cold compress for Mercy to put on Mags who is in bed with a fever again. Mercy calls Dr. Gonzales, who urges Mercy, in order to break the fever they must put Mags in a bath.

The Evidence They Have Been Waiting For:
Laz has brought Nereo's cellphone to that discreetly parked van the cops have. Laz warns them to hurry it up, before Nereo notices the missing cellphone. The cops assure Laz it will only take a tic, they plug the cellphone into the computer and download all the info from the phone, into the computer.

Taking The Air
This is one of my favorite Southern expressions. To take the air, means to walk about and breathe in the fresh, soothing air, whether you are kerfuzzled or not. Just the chance to be outside, taking in the sights. Anyhoo, Bea and Marina are taking the air, when they run into the Chisme women, you know, the ones that constantly harangue Marina for being, a ho. Well, they walk on by, without so much as a sniffle or word. Bea puts this directly at Herny's feet, what a guy! Can I hurl now?

Don't Wake Up, Don't Wake Up!
Laz brings back the cellphone to Jaz/Lu, quick kiss and he's off. Jaz/Lu gingerly puts that cellphone back in Nereo's pocket, and thank Dios he doesn't wake up. She goes. He does kinda wake up and sends her out for, what else, liquor! She goes.

Secret Agent Man:
The Commandante is checking the data from Nereo's cellphone. As luck would have it, that call that Nereo made to the place Belen is being held is on there, and the Commandante knows exactly where Belen is being held. Yay! Now they can go get Belen!

The Invasion of Rosy:
Rosy has come to pay Delfina a visit and they are having tea, when Fully walks in. Does anyone smell the sulfur? Anyhoo, there is polite conversation. Seems Delfina considers Rosy her friend and as such can visit anytime! Ruh, Roh, also since they do good works for the Church, Rosy is there to pick up a donation of clothing. So as Delfina goes to get the donation, Fully and Rosy have some alone time. Rosy makes it clear to Fully she can drop the dime on Fully anytime, if he so much as hints to Laz he is the bebe daddy. Fully doesn't like to be threatened, and as they converse, they dont' see Maycucu with her big ears and she's heard every single word. Maycucu can't beleive that Fully is Laz' Papi. Well, something for Maycucu to use. Well, Delfina comes with the donation and gives it to Rosy. She invites Rosy to come back any time.

Mexico City, It's Bath Time!
Mercy has gotten Mags into the bath and is asking her to please listen as she tells her the story of why Mercy has been searching fo her. Mercy admits that the seperation occured due to Mercy's fault, the bad dude took her, and she searched for her for years, trying to get her back. She begs Mags to just listen. Mags still thinks that wasn't a reason for her to be in the street like that. Mercy tells Mags just to listen and if in the end she is still not wanting to know Mercy she will respect her decision. Mags will listen but doesn't think that will change her mind. Mercy also wants Mags to go to rehab but Mags is sayin' no, no, no! Mercy wants her to get treatment for her alcoholism. Mercy wants to gain Mags' trust. Later, Mercy calls Bea and gives her an update on the Mag situation and that she will be spending more time in the D.F. but is going to keep an eye on the DamInnocent project. Bea thinks that Mercy will gain Mags' trust. Oh, and what about your other daughter, now that you have found Mags? Oh, she knows exactly where the other daughter is and as a matter of fact knows the adoptive mother, hmmmmmm.... Bea is kerfluffled.

Should Have Read His Book Instead!
Claudio and DamFeelingBetter are playing basketball and have a good game goin' on. I have to say Claudio is pretty good, well here comes Dragon and even he and his henchies play. Watch your back there Damnotpayingattention! Well, Dam doesn't pay attention and is shived right in the side. DamWounded goes down, and passes out. Claudio comes to his side, as the whistle goes off, and all the prisoners get down on the ground and Claudio calls for a medic.

Madrina and the Portent of Doom:
Madrina is at home and at the moment that DamNotPayingAttention is shived, Madrina feels it. Madrina runs to the Tempestad to tell t he crew something has happened to DamCapitan and they go with her.

Bea and Becky Don't See Eye To Eye:
Bea is tired of seeing Marina mope after DamHeHurtMyBebe. Becky is like what do you want? You know that Marina still loves Dam. Bea doesn't get it! Wash your ears out Bea, you might finally get it then! Bea still thinks that DamCruel was well cruel. Becky thinks about what she knows and how she can't tell.

In a Secret Location:
Pervy Ernie is telling Herny that he and Hada/Ester are marrying on the morrow. They are going to have a civil ceremony and a huge recepetion afterwards. Hada/Ester seems happy with that and starts to go when Herny mentions RLayDee, and Hada/Ester pauses. Later, Hada/Ester and Herny are alone and Herny promises he will help her remember her past, but this has got to stay on the down low. And for pity's sake he warns her, don't go telling anyone about her returning memory. He also tells her, her last name is Salazar. She repeats it after he leaves, Estercita Salazar.

Mexico City:
Doctor Gonzales has made a house call. Mercy tells the Doc she has gotten rid of all the alcohol in the house, and the Doc reminds her of perfume, it too has alcohol. Mercy has to get rid of that too, que Padre! Mercy will do everything she can with her very being to save her Mags! Later, Mercy calls her lawyer about the DamInnocence project, you know that report about the bomb on the boat, and to get cracking and get that stuff to Jose and keep her informed on the Innocence project y punto! Alicia comes and says Mags is worse. She is in the room looking for alcohol and while Mercy holds Mags down, Alicia readies a shot and gives it to Mercy, who in turn, gives it to Mags who is quickly out like a light.

Dateline: Prison Infirmary:
As we on the Patio anxiously await news of DamWounded, we hold our breaths wondering if DamWounded will make it! Apparently, all systems are go that way. DamWounded, will now be DamRecovering. The Doc examines DamWounded, determines it's a flesh wound, no major organs were nicked, and he is now DamRecovering. Claudio has stayed with him this whole time and two of the guards also. DamWounded did tell Claudio, if perchance he should to into the light, to please tell Marina that he loved her all along and the motive for why he did what he did. Claudio tells him to shut it, already, DamWounded ain't going anywhere. Doc insists on examing the patient alone, so now it is DamRecovering, who will heal quickly.

The Good Works Continue:
That Lady that Marina has been helping, you know the one, whose husband keeps smacking her around, is thanking Marina for all she has done. Marina tells her soon there will be a daycare for the employees to bring their children to when they work. That Lady is overjoyed.

Madrina and the Update:
Seems Madrina has gone to the prison and talked to the Doc and found out DamWounded is now DamRecovering and she is happy and tells the Crew that Dam is good. She also tells the Crew to get back to work. At the prison, Doc tells DamRecovering his Madrina is one unique lady and that she has given him something for DamRecovering. It is pictures of DamLittle and Marina when they were kids. There is a note,  attached to a picture of DamLittle and Marina fishing and the note says: This was the start of a great love story. Always have faith DamConfused that this love story can resist any Tempestad. (Thanks Mauricio)!  DamRecovering smiles sadly, but thinks he has already lost Marina.

You Constantly Bring Me Flowers and Kiss Me and Touch Me, and Ya Basta!
Y'all know where I'm going with this right? Right? Yeah, Marina is thinking of DamCruel and the dumping situation, he broke her heart and she thinks of that last meeting she had with him, and where he told her to move on with her life. Here comes a huge amount of flowers with Herny, holding them of course! Of course, Mr Obessive has to tell Marina that DamCruel is not worth her tears. That Marina is gone now and this new Marina wants to regain her strength. Marina is going to focus on her work at Neptune. Herny so wants to help, yeah, that's the ticket. She'll accept the help but only as a friend and nothing more! What does he do Y'all? He pushes for an answer about if he has any hope with her. Where is the cast iron skillet???? Well, she admits that DamCruel is still in her heart. Herny of course isn't happy with that, and declares his love for her, yet again. I am sick of hearing that, aren't Y'all, how about you Marina??? He wants Marina to be happy. I'm gagging, I need a moment. Herny wants to take her out somewhere, she tells Bea and Becky and they go.

Dateline Tijuana:
We are in what looks like a strip club with one young girl working the pole while most of the others look scared and disgusted. The Federales come in and raid the place, and the Commandante is in charge! YAY!!!!! The Commandante calls out for Belen and she comes forward. The Commandante takes charge of her and all the other girls and takes them out of there, double YAY!

Hello, Young Lovers, Wherever You Are:
Laz and Jaz/Lu are enjoying some time together in the square of RLayDee when who should come to break this little love spell. Well, its SHUTUPROSY of course, fresh from her threatening of Fully. She basically calls Jaz/Lu a ho, she wants Laz far away from this ho, and to come home, like right now! Jaz stands up to her and tells her she is the new secretary at Neptune. Laz sticks up for Jaz/Lu, and tells SHUTUPROSY to have some respect for Jaz/Lu tells her to mind her own beeswax and goes off with Jaz/Lu. Oh, SNAP!

Drinks and Talks:
Herny and Marina are having drinks and speaking about some of their past. Marina mentions she never knew her Papa, he died when she was very young. Herny mentions his parents died too when he was young, he was a milquetoast, she already knew that and he was adopted, and he knows for sure his parents didn't die accidently, they were murdered and now he wants vengenance.

Then There Were Three, For Dinner That Is:
Delfina, Maycucu and Ursula are having dinner, Fully is absent as usual. They are talking about Capitan Michel Fabre and Madrina and DamDelicious. Ursula doesn't remember them or DamDelicious.

Mother's Wait Up For Their Daughters:
Bea has waited up for Marina, and Marina tells her that she is going back to work Manana and Herny will be helping her. Bea is over the moon about the Herny part, but Tia Becky is thinking, meh, not so much. Becky beleives Marina isn't herself at all.

And Here is the Rest of The Story, Er Capitulo,er, The Flotsom and Jetsom of the Rest of The Story:
Herny and Nereo have a meeting and Herny gets a call. The call is about the bust of that strip joint in Tijuana, and Herny tells whoever it is to solve it!

Cop calls Jaz/Lu and tells her Belen has been found and is safe and sound, and will be going back home. Jaz/Lu cries and is so happy.

Herny gets on the horn and talks to Fully. He thinks that Laz had something to do with that bust in Tijuana. Fully doesn't agree, says Laz has been in town, couldn't have told the cops squat. Herny is still blaming Laz.

Jaz/Lu gets to talk to Belen and is over the moon she will be going back home. Belen wants Jaz/Lu to come with, but she can't right now. (She is still helping the cops). She tells Belen to tell the parents she is good and will see them soon. She tells Belen she is protected and okay.

Ursula thinks of DamEsSoloMio Y'all got that right? Right?

DamRecovering is in the prison infirmary and Claudio gives him "Othello' to read. DamRecovering identifies himself with Othello.

Marina is thinking of DamCruel and has that shell in her hand. She drops it in the trash in her room as my amigo Carlos says, NEXT! Here we end this epi.

Avances:

It's Ester/Hada and Pervy Ernie's Wedding Day when suddenly Ester/Hada remembers she is married! What to do, what to do?

Maycucu had an unhappy ending!

Herny kisses Marina, or does he?

Tune in Este Lunes where Ms Gloria will tell you all about it! MUST SEE TV!

Comments:
Ahoy, Y'all. Lo Siento this is late. I am a bit under the weather with this flu shot. So I am taking a nap and will check back later. If I made any errors, please comment and I will fix the recap. Please enjoy ; )

Oy Vey, Mads--if this is all from memory and on the fly you have my unending admiration. Gotta hand it to you, all the facts, ma'am and all the side effects.

Check on this, though, Wasn't Trouble With Two Tatas actually referring to Herny, when she said he was going to be Mío y Solo Mío? I thought she had her eyes on him. Not that my memory is any good after 4 hrs. and 45 min. of Tristan und Isolde last night.

Loved all those song titles MADS. When it comes to music, you've got a Vivi Memory and that is high praise.

Wow, that Mercedes is quite the competent nurse. I doubt I could give an injection to a comatose patient much less one who was battling like Magdalena was. Pretty unrealistic scene, but juarever.

I still think I see a special light in the doc's eyes whenever he looks at Mercedes. Hoping for some AARP romance at some point.

It was fun watching DamFine play basketball and even better watching DamIncredible shirtless in the infirmary bed, but if a telenovela character says "tengo que arrancarte de mi corazón" one more time, I swear I'll join you in hurling.

Sorry the flu shot got to you, matey. I had a bad couple of days after mine also. Bah humbug! Thanks for turning out a sparkling "taking the air" recap anyway amiga.

Madelaine - Great recap. You're a doll to get this in before the flu shot blahs get you. "Where is the cast iron skillet????" - my feelings exactly.

Laz is growing on me. Nice to see him stand up to his mother.

Hmmm, the previews don't look good for Maycucu. She's been such a promising villain.

Did the flu shots pack an extra punch of something this year? I've never had any issues with them before, but this time I felt uggo for a couple days and my arm hurt for five days.

Hope you enjoyed your nap, Mads. Great recap; never could tell by reading it that you weren't in fine fettle.

This show has the most confusing sensibilities. How does linking up with a new guy two seconds after the last one ditched her, and with a slimy slug at that, give Marina LESS of a skanky reputation? What's next? The jewelry shop in the pueblo gets robbed, the old biddies accuse Marina, then the next day she's strutting around town in fine new jewels and they decide it couldn't have been her, because apparently if she has all those jewels she's rich and wouldn't need to steal?

Tks Mads,feel better

The Soup did a spoof on LT, the scene was Lazaro covering up Robles body with the palms. Really funny when Joel tries to pronounce Tempestad.

The only reason I watch the Soup is hoping they will do a TN.

I should start scanning The Soup for telenovela bits. Lunivision is giving them so much great material right now! It cracks me up that Joel McHale has lived in SoCal...how long?...and still he cannot pronounce any Spanish words.

DamFab recap, Mads! Thank you.

Ursula visited R-Laydee when she was a kid and met DamFab. Ursula does not remember him (just like Marina did not remember him) and according to Delfina they got along just fine and were friends. Now Ursula wants to start her friendship with DamFab all over again. This can't be good. Why can't she just focua on Hernan and leave DamFab alone?

DamFab should have stayed in his cell. He was better off there. Oh well. It was nice though seeing him play basketball. I'm glad that his wound was not life threatening.

Things are not looking good for Mayuya.

I was so glad that Belen was rescued. By the way, what's up with the Feds truck? It has graffiti all over it. It is supposed to be camouflage? LOL

Mads, let me watch my recording again and I will let you know what the letter said.

Laz covering up the body is a perfect scene for The Soup. That scene was just so silly.

Thanks, Mads. DamDamaged looked good lying shirtless in that hospital bed.

Yikes..I was about to get a flu shot , but now I am a little scared. The shot has not prevented me from getting sick in the past. I have several friends who never get it and don't get the flu. Now, I am torn. I am also thinking about getting the shingles vaccine . Has anyone gotten it ?

Hope you feel better soon.

EstherHada should be thinking and asking herself - Why does this guy know so much about me and why doesn't he just tell me already all that he knows??? She is so foolish to be trusting Hernan.

Great recap, Mads! This was my treat at the end of a looong day of in-laws, volleyball tourneys, piano lessons, blah blah blah!

I love all your southern charm and expressions. I find it so warm and endearing! I was right there with you on Bea's giving Herny all the credit for quieting the town harpies. Spare me. And Julie, ISTA with you that this storyline of Marina taking up with Herny to clean her rep may be the dumbest ever. It just makes her look like MORE of a ho. Loved your jewelry store analogy!

JudyB I think you're on to something with the Doc and Mercy. In fact I thought of you as they strolled down the stairs last night. They are a cute couple and Lord knows she deserves a break.

I felt like the writers owed us DamShirtless after all the boring scrub scenes the last go round in the hospital.

Thanks again, Mads. Oh also loved "DamWounded becomes DamRecovering!" HAHAHA

Meant Julia! Autocorrect...

Although not LeBron, Dam looked good playing basketball. WL is a baseball player.

I did read that this years flu shot was stronger, however the CDC site doesn't say that, not that I could find. I've been getting them for 40 years & never had a bit of trouble. I'm getting it next wk, I'll let you know how it goes.

Mauricio, I agree. Herny is going to be in BIG trouble with:

Ernesto: Why didn't he tell him who Ester really was (he's from Herny's hometown...kind of hard to pretend he doesn't know her)

Ester: For not telling her EVERYTHING

Fully: For not telling him his daughter is still alive and kicking and married to the mob.

And beyond the lies, Ester presents a huge problem for Herny. If Ester stays put, she gets his inheritance. If she comes home, Dam gets out of jail. What's an evil villain to do?!

I got the shingles vaccine the minute my insurance would pay for it.I've heard too many horror stories about shingles.

Ok here's what the letter said -- "This (the pic of Marina and DamFab as kids fishing) was the start of a wonderful love story. Always have faith DamFab that this love story will resist any Tempestad."

Hope you feel better soon, Mads.

Here is a link to The Soup -

http://www.eonline.com/shows/the_soup/videos/212297/condensed-soup-obvious-body-burial

La Tempestad is featured at around the 1:32 mark.

Enjoy! :)

That was odd, on TV Joel stumbled over Tempestad twice & said I don't hablo Spanish.

Variopinta -- The link I posted is of a condensed version of The Soup.

I usually get the flu shot with no problems and hope that holds true this year.
I got a shingles shot last year, no ill effects. So many people who have had shingles shared miserable stories.

La Paloma

Aaaahhhhh, i've been away too long from this site (on vacation), and I've missed it terribly. haven't caught up with all the recaps and comments, and most probably never will. Thanks so much to everyone though; still so fun and funny!

is the segment on the Soup still called Clipos Magnificos (i.e. Will-yummyumm Levy)?

I'm glad I'm not the only one appreciative of DamShirtless every time he's in the hospital, or anytime for that matter. cracks me up.

Mads:

Now this was an old-school, easy-reading GREAT recap. A real recap. Wow, Mads, nice job.

This recap reminds me of a time a couple of years ago when our (beloved) blog Mom reminded some of us the we had gotten rather long-winded in recaps. We were reminded that recaps should be pithy, they should recapitulate, not REPEAT every moment of the action of the day. You caught the essence of the story and told me all I needed to know. I gush.

All your Dam references were fun.

Julia, Katy, I couldn't agree more about the stupidity of the idea of Herny rehabilitating Marina's reputation. Absurd, and annoying.

Mauricio: To your point, Hada/Ester may have lost a few IQ points when she lost her memory. She is not doing any serious thinking about Hernan's motivation for helping her.

Katy: Hernan is playing a very dangerous game, isn't he? I am a little worried about Hada/Ester's safety. Hernan has already tried to kill her once...

Happy weekend, all. Sigh. Things are happy in the June family this weekend because Stanford in winning their football game. Mr. June can get a LEETLE cranky when his Cardinal doesn't play well.

EJ

Julia:

Hope you are tolerating the rain. It looked like it was COMING DOWN in Seattle today. Stay warm and dry.

EJ

Elna June, thank you. I tolerate the rain just fine. The news said we got 1.63 inches in Seattle today. I think the record is 5 inches in one day. Plus it was windy! I was in my office downtown all afternoon and the building was creaking and swaying from the wind. Fortunately, I am an expert at staying dry even when going out with no umbrella, no raincoat, and no boots.

Mads- Yet another brilliant recap this weekend. Thank you amiga.

I have fallen so behind on this show. This was yet another episode I didn't see. But I could do without see Marina being stupid and going along with Hernie's plan. Julia- Great analogy! How does dating another man the day after your boyfriend is put in jail prove you're not a ho?

Hello, Everyone,

I am not watching any TN right now.
This morning while I was waking up, I'd thought I'd just pop into this one to see if I recognize names of participants. I didn't read the recap although I'm sure, Mads, that it is terrific as always. I remember how you are clever with song titles. I am sorry for your discomfort.

Susanlynn - re the flu vaccine, I get it every year without a bit of a problem. Re the Shingles vaccine, I got that 5 or 6 years ago
also without a problem. I have three close friends who have had Shingles and was therefore prompted to get the shot myself.

One was a guy about 30 years old who got it around his eye. It was painful but eventually went away.
Another was an 80-year old woman who got it around her waist; it too was extremely painful but after about 4 months, gradually subsided and went away. The third friend had it around his eye. He was about 60 when it occurred, and it NEVER went away. I met him just after it began,
and he had it when he died about 17 years later. He was in constant pain; he tried many treatments including acupuncture and nothing helped. He was a truly dynamic
person who somehow forged on with his life in spite of it, but his was a true horror story. Good luck with your decision.

It's great to see everyone enjoying this unique community with your very special bond. I'll check in occasionally to read comments.

All the Best, Floridia

Hey Susanlynn...go ahead and get the flu shot. With your teaching you're around a lot of people. But get it on a Friday or whenever you can rest for a little bit if you feel down.

I've had shingles (at age 57) and it wasn't bad at all. It felt like muscle pain but looked like poison ivy. Since it was February that didn't make sense. Never stopped teaching exercise classes throughout. And finally got the medication for it which I assume helped.

That being said, a man I know who had it in his 30's said his surgery for brain cancer was less painful!!! So it depends on the "host" and where it strikes. It's very unattractive if it gets you in the face, that I can tell you. Thank goodness mine was on my back.

Soo: Take away message. Get the vaccine.

And if you haven't had the vaccine for pneumonia, get that also. I've had pneumonia and you really really don't want to go there. Even with antibiotics, I was tired for 6 weeks, and friends were always thoughtful enough to tell me I looked like Hell! (THAT made me feel so much better. NOT!)

Thanks Madelaine. I watched this late yesterday and just now have gotten around to reading your recap which is excellent as ever. You really have the knack for capturing the essence of an episode. Sorry about that flu shot.

Poor Magdelena really does have a drinking problem... bless her heart. You touched a memory mentioning the perfume. Years ago I received a panicked call from a nursing home about one of my patients who resided there. It was Christmastime and some lovely church ladies had prepared gift baskets filled with knickknacks for the residents and distributed them at a little party. Apparently my patient (a former sailor) received a basket that contained samples of toiletries...soap, toothpaste and such. Right there at the table he removed a small bottle of Aqua Velva, opened it, and drank it right down. Who could have guessed?

I also smiled when I saw "get crackin'". I used the very same expression in my recap of CI this weekend.

Every time I see Hernán I'm tempted to reach for a shot perfume... fortunately We have some pretty good Tequila on hand.

Carlos

Hi Dr. Judy, thanks for your PSA about immunizations. Unfortunately on CI it appears that somehow Octavio managed to miss getting immunized for diptheria and may come down with it. Even though he is our galan, I'm not sure everyone will be pulling for his survival.

Carlos

Dr. Judy, always ready to help Dr. Carlos!

Still wish we had a Dr. Carlos in Columbus, but if we did, he'd be so popular he wouldn't be accepting any new patients.

shallowgirl -- Welcome Back! :)

Madelaine, thank you for the recap. I loved the section titles. It was a good episode.
I find myself yelling shutupbea at the tv. Hmmm!
Glad for the shirtless scene but sorry that Damdeliciois had to get hurt.
Feel better.

Thank you, Mads, for this sparkling job. I do hope that as of today, you are feeling better. As others have already said, I would never have guessed from your terrific recap that you were under the weather when you wrote it.

Hey Shallowgal, I've been wondering where you were. Hope you had a terrific vacation. It is good to have you back here for some DamSerious conversation.

Best giggle in the episode:

Magdalena gets a fever-reducing BUBBLEBATH!

Best conversation in the episode:
Beatriz asks Rebeca: Do you know something I don't know?
Rebeca replies: Of course not!

As for Othello --
Some may remember how important that play was in Triunfo del Amor...which makes me wonder:

a. Does Mejía have a thing about Othello?
or --
b. Is it the only Shakespeare that he knows?
or --
c. Is it the only Shakespeare that he thinks his audience knows?
or --
d. Is the writing just a tad lazy?

I'm gonna go with d.

Wouldn't it be fun if the boys decided to put on a play in la cárcel? El Güero de Venezia?

Madelaine, so sorry you were ill - hope by now you are feeling better! Thank you for persevearing and presenting us with this wonderful recap.

Loved the title. HA! I was not familiar with "taking the air" - thank you for enlightening me. I like the expression. "Does anyone smell the sulfur" and "DamInnocensee Project" were a few of my favorites. I so enjoy your style and as always, the musical references "Black is Black, I Want My Baby Back" were fantastic.

So happy Laz is standing up to Rosy. What a hypocrite!

Along with Mauricio, was happy Belen was rescued. The Commandante really came up with a grand plan.

Good day/bad day for Marina. Good that she spoke up to Dam's crew and reminded them Dam broke her heart, not the other way around. Bad that Marina hasn't slapped Hernan upside the head and told him to leave her alone. Period.

I don't watch "The Soup", but just happened to catch part of it the other day. The host mentioned trying to hide a body (badly). Then what should appear but the LT clip of Laz covering the Commandante's body with leaves. I have to admit, it was very funny.

Looks like Maycucu comes to a premature, ghastly ending.

Hi shallowgal and Floridia, good to see your posts. Floridia, the story isn't as Damfab as it was in the beginning but hopefully, it will get back on track quickly.

Thanks again Madelaine!

Diana

I missed what the doctor said about Magdelena: did she need a bath or a cold bath? I doubt if he said a bubble bath.

As for the flu shot I usualyy get it but check out this site before you decide and know what vaccine you are getting this year. Two or three versions. This is a link to the CDC Check http://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/vaccine/general.htm

In February, my doctor wrote out a prescription for the shingles vaccine for hub and me. However, I read that you should not be around people who have not had chicken pox or young children after you get it. at the time, our grand girls were e months, 2, and 5 , and our son-in-law had never had chicken pox. The doctor couldn't tell us how long we had to stay away from these folks, so we did not get the vaccine. Then, my daughter, two grand girls, and I got some kind of bug. As I was recovering from the bug, I noticed what looked like five mosquito bites at my waist. They did not hurt or itch, but every once in awhile I got what felt like a side sticker. I looked the symptoms up on the internet , and it seemed like I had shingles. WHen I went to the doctor, she said that it was too late for her to give me any meds and that you have to go to the doctor within 72 hours of the outbreak for meds to do any good. She also said I should wait 6 months before getting the vaccine. However, the problem of being around young children (now 3, 6, and almost 1) and the son-ins law still exists, so I don't know what hub and I will do. The doctor told me that the vaccine does not prevent Shingles, but it should make them less severe and less likely to cause permanent nerve damage. Mine really were not bad and lasted about a week. However, my cousin had a very bad case as did my grandmother. To the best of my knowledge, my parents and sister never had them. The doctor said that many in the general population are walking around with shingles ,and the chance of getting them increases as you age. You can get them more than once. Maybe hub and I will wait to get the vaccine until all the grandbabies have been vaccinated. I worry about my son-in-law because it is bad to get chicken pox as an adult.

Then, there's whooping cough which I have heard adults should be vaccinated against if they are around young children. I thought that I was home free because I had whooping cough when I was little, but the doctor told me that didn't protect me from getting it again. He said the shot is expensive.

I had a second whooping cough vaccine when I was 30. The doctor said the childhood one could eventually lose effectiveness. I got it in a combo diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus shot, plus a flu shot and hepatitis and something else all at once. I guess the doctor thought that since she had me there, she should shoot me full of everything. Generally I try to avoid going to the doctor.

I thought that since I had had whooping cough I would be immune to it! but the doctor said no. Bummer.

Mads - it sucks not being/feeling 100%. hope you feel better soon.

Mauricio, Diana, NovelaMaven - thanks for the acknowledgements. I am still really irked about how Lunivision chopped up the first love scene (9/11) b/w DamFab and Marina. I was so looking forward to it, and "we wuz robbed" weren't we NM? ugh!!! and how dare they blur DamFine's butt crack on the beach scene. what the heck was that? the stereotypical gross butt cracks of men are always being shown on tv so why would they blur that of a demigod's???? Thankfully, those uncensored episodes are online. there really wasn't anything that need to be cut, imho, so i don't understand it .

I am glad though, they condensed 4 or more episodes into 1, cuz DamOutofCommissionInJail ain't no fun. perhaps his overworked DamLusciousLips needed a much needed rest. As you said Diana, hope they get him back on track pronto!

NovelaMaven -- What happened with Othello on Triunfo Del Amor? I never finished watching the novela.

Shallowgirl - I don't understand the reason behind Uni cutting the love scene either. There was NOTHING in that scene that needed to be censored. The blurring out of the butt clevage was so funny. I wonder if the Mexican audience got to see it.

Mauricio:

One of the subplots in Triunfo involved Guillermo (Guillermo García Cantú) directing and starring in a production of Othello with Leonela as his Desdemona. Crazy Ximena (Dominika Paleta) knew all of Desdemona's lines and recited them to herself as she watched the rehearsals. At the opening of the show, Ximena did something to Leonela (I can't remember what -- somehow she knocked her out) and took her place on the stage where, if I remember correctly, she tried to murder Guillermo.

And speaking of villainous Guillermo, he was always listening to Beethoven. Classical music and villainy appear to go hand in hand in MejíaWorld.

[Honestly, I can't believe you didn't watch this novela all the way to the end. It was a CLASSIC. :D]

Madelaine, thank you for such a terrific recap even though you aren't feeling well. I'm very impressed that you did your recap from memory. Your song titles are the best! Sorry for the late comment but I was in the mountains all weekend.

Novela Maven, when I was watching the episode tonight I had to do a rewind when I saw Magdalena in the BUBBLE BATH. Just wanted to make sure it was to reduce fever and not a "Calgon take me away" moment, lol!

Ugh. Shingles. I got a case in January when we were in Mexico. I got the meds but it was still DamUnpleasant. It could have been much worse but all I can say is...Get the vaccination!

Mauricio- There is no censoring for the Mexican audience. It's just the puritanical US censors that have a problem with bodies, bodily functions, and sex.

Good Morning Y'all and thanks for all your lovely words : ) I am feeling so much better. The flu shot has always effected me this way and the stiffness in the arm too. A Navy Corpsman gave me good advice years ago to relieve the arm stiffness. He told me to get some 5 to 10lb hand weights and to work the arm the day after the shot and continue to do that for a week or so. No more arm stiffness after that. It really works! After the shot I always have a lie down and then have some chicken soup with some Tapatio and I am good! I asked my doctor about the Shingles shot and he told me I'm too young for it. I too had chicken pox when I was a kid. If your doctor recommends it though, I'd get it to be on the safe side.

Anita:

I take cursory notes when I watch in real time. I seldom record anymore so from my notes I remember what happened and go from there. I do miss things and always admire how Y'all help me out when I do. Ursula does have eyes for Herny but she also has them for DamDelicious. She is an equal opportunity man eater, ; )

JudyB:

Thanks about the Vivi memory for music and that is high praise! I too think Doc Gonzales has a little crush on Mercy. Maybe by the end of this TN they will be a happy couple.

Neice:

I am with you about Laz. When his storyline first started I thought it would be the typical young love storyline Meija always throws in there, but this one is much better. I am rooting for him and Jaz/Lu.

Julia:

So loved your take on Marina's reputation. I too can't figure out what her reasoning is either. I'm just tightening my beanie ; )

Variopinta:

I too have watched many spoofs of Joel McHale on the Soup and my favorite is still the one he did of "La Madrastra", it was hilarious. That would be cool if they did a TN of their own : )

Mauricio:

Thanks so much for the added info and also for what that note said. I watch in real time and it went by too fast for me to get the translation. Some of the scenes for this TN go by faster than the ones on PEAM, which I also recap, and that is pretty fast!

Susanlynn:

Thank you amiga. I had a thought reading your comment on the shingles vaccine. Why don't you and hub switch off getting it? This way one can be with the grandkids while the other is unable to. Just a thought.

Mauricio:

I too can't figure out why Hada/Ester isn't questioning Herny either. She must know by now he knows a lot more about her than he is letting on. Oh, and isn't it funny that Hada seems to have way more confidence and poise than Ester does? What will happen when Ester really comes back to herself? I don't want her to lose the confidence she's gained as Hada.

Katy:

Thanks so much about the Southern charm, all learned from my Grandma at a young age. She was one of those Southern Belles, gloves and tea time and stories. I miss her, but I have all my wonderful memories of her and my Grandpa : )I have gone overboard with the Dam names. Poor Anita, if she tries to compile a list of all the Dam names we have used in this TN, it will take a month of Sundays just to finish : ) I also liked what you said about Herny as far as Ester goes. I just don't want him killing her. My question is, what happens if she goes back to RLayDee and Fully asks her what happened to her? Will she give up Herny? What will Herny use to keep her quiet? Hmmmm food for thought.

La Paloma:

So good seeing you here! I always so enjoy your comments.

Shallowgal:

So glad to have you back! His Shirtlessness is one fine hunk isn't he ; )

Elna June:

I remember reading that comment of Melinama's a while back. I have been trying to condense my recaps cause I do tend to be long winded ;) There was so much scene switching that I just took cursory notes and went from there. You made my day! I feel for you about Mr. June, Mr. Mads has been cranky since his beloved Steelers started playing this season. Worst season, EVA. I only watch the game for Troy Palamlu, ; )

Julia:

I too am hoping you have been staying dry out there. It's almost like the tropical storms we get here. Stay warm and safe!

Vivi:

It's okay if you get behind ; ) Each and every recap for this one gives you all the info you need to keep up. I had fallen behind on CI too, but your terrific team over there has the most awesome recaps! They tell me everything I need to know and then some ; )

Floridia:

So glad to see you here! Please pop in whenever you'd like. I so miss your comments, amiga!

Carlos:

Thanks so much amigo! I am trying my hand at condensing my recaps much as you do for CI. Those poor Church ladies and that sailor! I liked the story though! I can just imagine it. I had a Chief that used to say that all the time and recently ran into him at the Commissary and I just had to use it in my recap ; ) I lol'd at your comment about drinking the perfume when you see Herny. I take a sip or two of Limoncella when he gets particularily testy!

Mads & Mauricio--Hada/Pester's elegant poise, self assurance and good manners (and modulated speaking voice) are all due to Macario who has been her "Tobias" off stage.

Mads--The Dams are being constructed as we move through the Flotsam and Jetsam of this and all previous capitulos. [P.S. Loved this: "Ursula does have eyes for Herny but she also has them for DamDelicious. She is an equal opportunity man eater."

TJ:

I too yell SHUTUPBEA and SHUTUPROSY, I am right there with you! Both of them drive me up the wall with their stupidity over their children. Rosy's attitude is much worse though, I have to say.

NovelaMaven:

Thank you so much! I am glad you and EJ are familiar with Othello as you are. The only ones I am familiar with are Hamlet, Cmybeline and Macbeth. I didn't watch TdA. I too wonder if Meija has a thing for Shakespeare. I like your theory.

Diana:

Thank you amiga! I too am hoping this TN picks up some. I am so liking that The Commandante is so smart and finding Belen was wonderful. The only thing I'm worried about is that someone called Herny. What if he finds out that the Commandante is in the land of the living and not dead. Poor Laz!

Anon 3:30:

All I caught was bath. I thought it was sweet of Mercy to put bubbles in that bath, something a Mama would think of! Thanks for the info on the CDC.

ShallowGal:

I have given up on Uni's need to cut love scenes. I guess they think all of us here in the U.S. are prudes. I wish they would leave them in and see if they get complaints. They are very tame to other things I have seen on cable.

Cap'n:

Thanks so much! I hope you got to relax in the mountains and sorry to hear about your shingles. Thank goodness there is a treatment for them.

Mauricio:

So you caught that about the Fed's van too! Yeah, this graffiti covered truck in the woods, or outside of Herny's or Fully's doesn't stick out like a sore thumb? Que, Que, What???? It makes me laugh every time I see it. That's why I always put "discreetly" when I recap the epi's that show it, lol.

Some Flotsom and Jetsom of my own. I guess Maycucu's time is ending in RLayDee or is it? She deserves an anvil but I wasn't expecting this.

Marina needs to wake up already! Enough of the Herny sliming. I know she has told him over and over she only wants his friendship. I am afraid he is going to cross the line. What will she do then?

Is Mercy close to spilling to Bea? And Bea was looking a tad concerned when Mercy mentioned she knew where her other daughter was.

I also want to take the time to thank all of the commenters for all the lovely comments and also for all the added info you give me for the things that I miss. I like the give and take of this board so much. If it weren't for Y'all I would never know the nuances of some of the things I miss. I can always count on Y'all for the most wonderful and helpful comments. And the snark Y'all have! Marvelous. Y'all have helped me to comprehend more of the Spanish I am learning. I thank you!

Anita:

Thank you amiga! I can't wait to see your Dam list. I remember the one from CME that Y'all did for the cucu doc over there. I laughed so hard, even though I read that list, I never watched the TN.

I haven't seen very many tns, but LUni's need to cut love scenes, esp of my beloved William Levy (i.e. Sortilegio) really bugs me. I've noticed other tns where antagonists are allowed to go at each other like rabid animals, dressed in way less, are uncensored. Que the heck???

Madelaine - Glad you're feeling better. ITA "Marina needs to wake up already!" I need to see her slam Herny at least once. It wouldn't hurt her to have a little of sister Mag's kick.

Floridia - Nice to see you here.

I forgot to tell Y'all about the ratings for this TN. We are still raking in 3.2 million viewers for this TN. It has consistently made Uni the #1 and # 3 Network almost every night. Just thought I'd let Y'all know.

Thanks Mads! Even with the recent digressions into excessive boring and repetitive conversations this one still continues to interest the heck out of me.

I was glad that Dam made his "deathbed" confession to Claudio. I think Claudio is a true romantic who will try to see that Marina somehow learns the truth.

NovelaMaven -- Sounds like a lot of fun. I can't believe that I missed it. I also like your theory about Mejia and classical music going hand in hand with villainy. I think some producers have some motifs which they like to use over and over again in their novelas.

Mads -- You're Welcome! Glad to have been able to help with what the note said. The graffiti on the Feds truck makes me laugh. You're right that the truck is "discreetly" there. Thanks for the info about the ratings. I'm glad to see that the novela is doing good here. The novela isn't so bad. It has its flaws but it has kept my interest.

Shallowgirl - The love scenes were even more chopped up when Uni reran Sorti in the afternoon. Thank goodness for YouTube.

Vivi - Thanks for the info about Mexico not censoring things. I keep thinking Mejia saw the butt cleavage and decided to keep it thinking to himself "Oh this for sure will get the ratings up". What a sly dog he is. LOL

FYI: Addicted with William Levy is set to hit theaters on March 14th 2014. So excited to see this movie. :)

I am interested in the dinner scene where Hernan tells Marina about his parents being murdered. This is what I think is interesting: Hernan is starting to test the waters with Marina regarding telling her the truth. It's obvious that he wants her as a WIFE and a partner...someone who will tell him, "It's okay...I forgive you". This was obvious as well in the scene where he tries to tell her "I've done horrible things, but they were in the name of love...I know I'm damned to hell, but maybe love redeems me..." Or something along those lines. He's a horrible, damaged person and he wants Marina's love to purify him, somehow. Fascinating.

Trabajadora3:

Welcome! I don't know if you have commented before, but welcome to Caray, Caray.

I can't believe Marina was still sitting there after Herny said those things to her. It's like her brain is blocked or something, or she isn't quite hearing what he is saying. All the signs are there for her to see what he is really after. This is what boggles my mind about her. She doesn't see all that is before her. I just wish she wakes up soon. He is sooo not good for her!

Thank you, Madelaine. I love psychoanalyzing the characters!
