Qué Bonito Amor #117 (Mex 155) Wednesday 9/25/13 Here comes Da Judge….Here comes Da Judge!!!
Labels: QBA
I have to rant -- So this guy sitting behind Derecho is obviously taping, no not taping, BROADCASTING, the proceedings for OJ, with an iphone no less. Derecho doesn't say anything. Curtis doesn't say anything --- LAPD's finest. Even Judge Waffle says nothing -- egads! And OJ sees the trial through various angles -- does the judge have a camera up his sleeve? guess those smartphones are smarter than I thought.
And WTH? Maria isn't testifying to anything! She's preaching her version of justice with no interruption from anyone. Never mind that the Defense and Prosecution are presenting their cases simultaneously.
No facts, no evidence. Just opinions, theories, and professions of love. Wow.
Very sloppy work -- no research. Obvio.
ok rant over. maybe. for now
have to get some sleep -- if I can rub this mess from my memory. Que brutos!
I actually saw a much worse courtroom scene than this back in 2001 or so, but this kind of disorder in the court would never be tolerated in the US.
As to the multiple camera angles for Giuliano, it looks like either someone will be discovered to be controlling multiple cameras or this is directorial sloppiness.
Maria has apparently learned to maintain her cool, but the writers should have had her detailing the inconsistencies of the case. The prosecutor does deserve a severe reprimand for his violations of professionalism here and the judge is completely remiss for not getting tough with him.
Hundreds of pieces of evidence? That is severe hyperbole.
I also question why Maria isn't staying at Justo's home. That could be because it would further jeopardize this bad joke of a case, but may not be that much safer for her vis a vis Giuliano.
Man oh man, if I could have reached into that screen when Derecho and Curtis were on, I would have yanked them so hard they would not have known what had hit them. I CANNOT stand those wretched characters. Bumbling fools and idiots.
And what gives with Maria?! Even I wanted her to just shut up.
The interesting story line now is Concho. Just exactly what has this man really done?
Mirna. Another disgusting individual.
Thank you again, Paquita.

Justo TOLD Curtis & Derecho Santos' plane was tampered with.
When Curtis/Derecho arrested Santos at Justo's house, they were ambushed
2 of Santos' "co-conspirators" were killed with the same type of gun...the same gun JUSTO brought to Derecho's attention
Justo told Derecho NUMEROUS times Santos' life was in danger. So for Derecho to get on the stand and claim "he ain't know Santos' life was in danger..." Sir, have a seat. You are the WORST COP EVER. And sadly, he can't blame being on the take for such crappy police work.
I agree. Banish these fools to the file room forever. Better yet: "Off with their heads!!"

The explosion in the bar was clearly targeting Santos and Maria, but unless the two guys who actually placed the materials fess up, they can't connect this to Giuliano.
From a writing perspective there is a missed opportunity here: Summers' grudge against the Garzas should be something much more recent than a school rivalry with Justo. It should be that he is the father of a young woman knocked up by Santos and sent to relatives in Mexico... who then abandoned baby Isabel. There is still no explanation of her origins or why Santos had the only matching blood.
-------------
We know Concho stole Pedro's half of the bar and never let Amalia know about it.
We know Concho has a sweet spot for Amalia. Lourdes knew it too and that's why she didn't like Amalia.
We know Concho cheated on Lourdes with Mirna.
We know Concho wasn't paying his taxes like he should.
And we know Concho unknowingly signed over the bar to Ruben because he didn't want anyone else (Amalia/Maria, Elvira, Lourdes, Mirna) to stake a claim to the bar.
Other than that, we don't know what Concho has done.
Mirna's just mad that Concho a) busted her for stealing the money b) fired her but most importantly c) dumped her to stay with Lourdes. I think "C" is really what galls her the most.
Concho's world is crumbling down because the bar is doing poorly, he was forced to turn it over to previously unknown spawn Susanito, his health is poorly & he's just learned Ruben has shanked him out of the bar. Concho is at the edge...I see him pulling a Fred G. Sanford for real.
Elvirus will get her just desserts for refusing to give Concho the money for his medical care, let alone all of her other crimes.
The document signing the bar over to Ruben wouldn't hold up in court no matter what has happened since then. Neither Concho nor Mirna is smart enough to realize that.
And what writer wrote that Amalia sold a third of the bar when she owned half? Why didn't Angelica Maria correct that or is Amalia that stupid?
I think the time to expect realism is long past, what with everyone (black, white & hispanic) speaking Spanish in America, a circus sham of a trial, none of Padrino's associates coming to get OJ, the shenanigans of the bar, prisoners having block parties in the yard and able to roam freely in prison, visiting each other cells etc.
Angelica Maria's dog needs some acting lessons.
This kid Aaron is more attractive than Roddy, but loses credibility just by being Vainessa's cousin.
Maria preaching about the US Constitution major eye rolling. She did get in some good shots but I was hugely distracted by looking at the weird shots of the back of Sommers head. Couldn't believe the IPhone filming which would have been banned in the smallest court in the country. And for heaven sake why didn't Justo remind the guy that he was the one staying in the Presidential Suite not Santos who never stayed in any fancy hotel room. Opportunity lost — sloppiest writers EVAH!
Oh for the screaming love of God now we have OJ thinking Maria is beautiful and smart and she is going to be mine. WTH is it with these men making these asinine statements about a woman committed to another man who would't give them the time of day. Come on Bruno come back to life and scare your halfwit el padrino cousin to death. We are running out of time for OJ and the Redneck to get what is coming to them.
I may be alone in this but I refuse to believe that feisty little Isa is the spawn of Concho and the slutty Mirna. No longer care who she really is.
If the courtroom scenes were ridiculous the idea that Ruben is out and about on the street, sees Keystone Kops Dos and thinks he can disguise himself by raising his jacket collar.
Obviously the ace up OJ's sleeve is the painted lips skank. Is she going to claim she was Santos' lover and helped him stash the money? Maria didn't look too happy during those previews.
They may be screwing up the courtroom scene but at least the prison cells look halfway realistic in contrast to the huge sun lit cell in LT with what looks like childrens bunk beds for the prisoners. You would never have a little step ladder leading up to the top bunk — it is a potential weapon. And I hate that we are going into the last two weeks of QBA being short changed by five minute each night which adds up to an hour lost when maybe, just maybe this hot mess would have some scenes that make fricking sense.
Derecho did not look happy with the Mrs testimony that she didn't think Santos was guilty. I still can't get over what morons those two cops were. Multiple attempts on someone's life and they somehow come to the conclusion it is by his associates. They were correct in that flight does tend to be a tacit admission of guilt but somehow trying to save one's life might also be a good reason for getting the heck out of dodge.
Isa might be Mirna's, but there is no way she could be Concho's and Miss Greedy not take advantage of it. Mirna would have made him pay through the nose if she had his spawn. Maybe she couldn't afford to raise her and abandoned her right before she started at JNTR. She probably assumed there were so many people at the vecindad that someone would pick her up. Probably hung around to see Amalia pick her up. But she's never shown any emotion whatsoever the few times she's been in Isa's vicinity.
Right I forgot that scene. The guy made it seem like Santos had been living in the lap of luxury for some time not only one or two nights.
Mirna as a mother just doesn't cut it with me. As you point out she shows no interest in Isa what so ever. I'm beginning to think that we will never know the whole story. I still can't believe that after Isa made the discovery herself and ran away when she came back not one single thing has ever been said. The child is bright and inquisitive so it is completely unrealistic to think that she didn't demand to know the whole story but nada. SMH
If Isabel is hers and Concho's she might have discarded her because she wasn't the boy Concho may have wanted.
Interesting thought but it seems Concho was a serial cheater and he did reject the one son he had. Mirna might have played the baby card if true but somehow I don't think Concho would have cared. We don't know how long she worked at JTNR or how long her fling with Concho went on. She seems really bitter but I think it is more the loss of money than the dude. She is acting as the front for Evile and the Redneck both of whom will kick her to the curb faster than Concho did. I think she thinks she is going to come out on top and she might since R and E have a load of Karmageddon rapidly, I hope, approaching.
Paquita--Let the air out of that beanie. It helps a little. You got El Show de Shows. I worked with attorneys for 15 years and couldn't keep up with anything that was going on in this trial. As we've all said, that's not the way criminal trials are conducted in any US courtroom. Sorry it fell to you to report.
I got a big kick out of OJ watching a streaming live version and the fellow capturing it on his smart phone from the rear. You did those scenes justice.
I think it's funny that the judge's last name is Gahvel or was it Gavhel--anyway, look for it tonight.
Great comments everybody. Can't wait for this to end, and then I think, I'll miss my 10 o'clock date with QBA and sad to say goodbye to this small but avid community of Carayers.
You probably won't see me on Mentir (thanks to David Zepeda) even though it has my dream-worthy Diego Olivera. I'd like to see him back in a dramatic role, antagonist or not.
For curiosity only, for anyone who watched Hija del Mariachi. Did they have a California location and a trial? Was there someone like Mirna, Elvira, Concho & co.? How about Amalia. I think I remember someone saying early on that there was no Isabel.
OT-I started watching Triunfo de Amor with high hopes and was let down with a big thud. I ended up watching occasionally to keep up with Sweet William.
Now I see that the original Carla Estrada production El Privilegio de Amar is being rebroadcast in the mornings on Telemundo and have started watching it.
It only took 4 episodes of comparison to realize what a "good" production, cast, direction, etc. is made up of. If you have OnDemand, you can catch up (that is if you like Adela Noriega, Helena Rojo, Cesar Evora and a really skinny, young Rene Stickler and it was only 1998). Carla used young actors to portray the young priest Juan de la Cruz and Luciana, which makes much more sense).
I have a feeling that Isa is going to be a loose end that won't be tied up.
Anita, that Telemundo replay of the original "Triunfo" sounds very interesting. I think I am going to check it out.
Anon207, thanks for your list of what we do know about Concho. Mirna was making it sound like there were some very bad hidden things about him. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.
