Qué Bonito Amor #116 (Mex 154) Tuesday 9/24/13 Time to face the music

Ladies- Parts one and two are up

I'm going to do this in two parts, first what's going on in Mexico and then the happenings in El Lay, that way I won't have to jump back and forward.

In Mexico Amalia and the girls are out on the street, Aaron offers Paloma a place to keep their furniture, everyone is devastated by being kicked out of their homes (see, this is why sometimes it's better to own, rather than rent), Mancia has taken to the streets and is trying to make extra money by reading peoples fortunes using the tarot cards, she tells Irasema that a card keeps coming up and it bothers her because it means nothing good is on the horizon, Irasema tells her that the last thing they need is more bad luck.

Vanessa and Aaron are discussing Paloma's woes and Aaron tells Vanessa not to make fun of Palomas situation, then he confesses that he really digs Paloma and wants to be with her, even if it means that he loses the bet he made with Vanessa. I like this kid.

Amalia and the girls are in their new home and are lamenting all their bad luck (what else is new?) but then Amalia tells the girls that this is only temporary, and the girls say that maybe being in what used to be Santos room will bring the m good luck, Amalia says that maybe it will. Later Amalia meets with Mirna, whose ta-tas look like they are going to pop out of her dress and signs over her share of the bar, although as she does it with a heavy heart and she tells Mirna that it's hard to sign over her husbands dreams. She hesitates a few times but eventually signs the paper work, and just like that her half of the bar is gone.

Somewhere in Mexico Vicente is missing Fernando, Ana and his friends, he has a flashback to Fernando buying him a pair of boots and he says "Come and get me Fernando" *sniff, sniff* I take back 60% of the bad things I've said about him.

Paloma is at school and left her backpack in the classroom, she goes in search of it and it looks like she's worried about the money she had in it, Aaron walks in after her and she tells him that her plan is to drop out of school to get a job and help support the family, just like Maria did at her age. Aaron tells her that all parents want their kids to have an education and makes her a deal, if she stays in school he will talk to his dad about giving her a part time job in the afternoons, Paloma agrees to give that a shot.

In the vecindad Mancia is crying her eyes out (man, she is not a pretty crier) she's sad that the home she raised her son in is gone, a life time of memories gone in seconds, Irasema joins the pity party and tells Mancia she feels terrible too, she's missing Susanito something silly and lately she's been really sensitive- perhaps a clue that she might be hormonal and pregnant?

El Lay

The party at the prison continues- did they really allow them to bring snacks? What if someone spikes the horchata? Did no one think of that? Anyhoo, the prisoners are happy to have a taste of Mexico, many of them miss their country and the mariachis being there was a treat. Inside the prison Fernando and his papa chat, he tells his dad that he is a good man because it's in his blood, he has running through his veins the blood of a good man and a good woman. He also tells his dad that his days as a playboy are over, he has Ana now and all his love is reserved for her.

In the prison patio Jorge and Susanito chat, Jorge tells Susanito that he's happy that he and Irasema are back together and asks if Irasema has been able to find her brothers and sisters, Susanito says no and Jorge has a flashback of him and Irasema discussing how much she wants to have her family back-man if her brothers are prisoners in the jail I'm going to scream.

Once the party ends Jorge is back in his cell and he is telling Mike how much he misses Mexico and Isa- he has a flashback to helping her with her homework. Am i the only one that hates the flashbacks? They have been using them a lot in the last few weeks.

While Mike and Jorge chat two officers come in and inform Jorge that he is going to be taken to the court house because his trial is about to start, they inform hi that he can change into the clothes his father brought him when he gets there.

Once in the court house the trial begins, Summers is being a jerk to Jorge and accuses him of feeling because he was a coward. Jorge jumps up and tells Summers not to insult him, at this point Summers acts like a big whinny baby and tells the judge that Jorge is out of line and that he expects to have Jorges bad behavior documented! The judge tells Summers to chill and to stop poking at the defendant. However Summers continues to be a poopy head and tells the court room that Jorge is a criminal that used his business to launder money, 10 million dollars in fact! And once he got caught he fled because he's a coward! So ladies, the two charges Jorge faces are money laundering and running from the law. The mariachis hear this and all jump up saying that Jorge is an honest and innocent man! The judge threatens to throw them all out if they don't keep quiet.

Summers questions why Jorge would leave the country if he was in fact innocent, Jorge explains that he left on the advice of his attorney who is actually the real criminal. He also says that his mother with tears in her eyes asked him to leave because she feared for his safety and that he in fact planned to return to the US to faces the charges against him. Summers mocks Santos and accuses him of using his mother as an excuse, this makes Coloso very angry and he jumps up and tells Summers that messing with someone's mother is no joke. The judge makes Coloso sit and Jorge has grabbed summers and looks like he's about to hit him, the judge makes everyone behave and Summers again bitches about how Jorge is treating him, the judge tells him that as a prosecutor he has rights but the defendant also has rights and that he is to leave him alone and call his first witness. First up, officer Derecho!

In other news the guys won the contest and are now 20k richer. Yay for them!

My apologies again for this shoddy recap, but I've had trouble sleeping for a few years now and am taking sleeping aids to help, normally I can wake up on time but not last night, last night I had the joy of having a nightmare in which I had a baby and the baby was a hot dog. Yes, you read that right!

Eli

I'll add more comments after the rest of your recap but I was choking back laughter at the idea that irasema's brothers would be in the same prison. My feeling is that they are successful businessmen and are now looking for the sister they treated so badly. They will help her and Susanito find a nice place to live and he can go to school to become a composer. Or else they will turn out to be members of the Redneck's white slave ring. In any event maybe we are going to get resolution of that red herring.

I too am warming up to Aaron and have dropped the Assron name as long as he continues to defy Vainessa.

Amelia weeping and bemoaning their fate YAWN. She has successfully turned Paloma into a mimi me and I fear the feisty Isa is headed the same way. Time for JAntos to get back and rescue the poor child.

Agreed.

Irasema's brothers have disowned her. Getting them back in her life is a miracle only Lohengrin -- Santos -- can perform at this point. Even if he is deported back to Mexico and can never return to the US he needs to be there for himself and for all the people he cares about.

Isabel will never be like Amalia. Once Santos and Maria get back she will be her same feisty self.

Aaron is turning out to be a decent kid, but he really needs to call Vainessa out on her crap.

Eli--This is a fine start. Can't wait for Parte 2.

It's too badm, but I have no feelings whatsoever for who or where Irasema's brothers are. They were mentioned once in her backstory and now they have come up again (and why would JA be asking SusieQ, anyway). I'm much more invested in who left Isa on Amalia's doorstep (I'm sounding repetitious, pardon me), and that one has been thrown out the window by the writers (or got blown away on the beach at NSDR).

I also have some comments relating to part 2. Interesting that we have two trials on two different tns by the same producer, one in Mexico and one in ElLay and how different they are from each other and the one in ElLay different from how trials are really conducted.

Decie, you and I are both thinking that Aaron has more to offer Paloma than Roddy, but this tn has invested a lot of screen time in crybaby Roddy to have him lose at love. He did look FINE in his mini-charro suit in the competition concert, though.

someone the other day said that Amalia's dog was just a stage prop. I assumed by this that it wasn't a real live dog.

In last night's episode, I think the dog actually walked around the bed! So it is a real live dog.

OK the trial - another gross insult to the American judicial system. Some petty things - courtrooms usually have state flags and seals on the wall, outbursts by the peanut gallery are a no no. The Mariachi's were correctly warned the first time and should have been thrown out the second time. Santos did have an attorney - his father, who knew he had a law degree and was licensed to practice in California. Derecho is sitting in the courtroom — witnesses are not allowed to sit in the courtroom before they testify. Pretty much the same could apply to the mariachi character witnesses. Oh yeah juries in California are made up of 12 people not 6. Had this been a Telemundo trial set in Florida 6 would be correct but this is allegedly California. Oh and how did OJ manage to get streaming video of a trial? Low level trials like this one aren't filmed for TV. Off rant — that is until somehow another innocent telenovela galan gets convicted.

Add me to the I hate flashbacks contingent. They are distracting but understandable in this case where they were obviously used to fill in the time while JS was unable to film. I'm sure we will have to endure more of them, when all the time all I want is for Karmageddon to wipe out oj, Redneck and Evile asap - and slowly so I cna enjoy it.

That twenty thou the mariachi's won isn't going to go far when everybody has to find places to live LOL.

Decie, what struck me was that there was no security, when Santos went at Summes no one was there to stop him! Also, there's no way that a judge would have allowed Santos and Summers to have a full on discussion about what happened, ugh things like that drive me crazy!

Finally -- for the nth time -- trials in El Lay would be conducted in English!

Giuliano has a prison guard and now a prosecutor on his payroll; no reason to think he doesn't have a courtroom employee he's paying to rig a camera or two hidden by something in the room. That would be kid stuff to him by now.

As to the writers, I know that our Law & Order shows were shown in Mexico, so there is no excuse for these egregious misrepresentations of our justice system.

Interesting that the insulting portrayal of our judicial system gets under our skins while we have long ago given up on anything medical being portrayed correctly. Perhaps it is because our system is so fundamental to our way of life. Needless to say that before this farce is over i'll be seeing red a few more times. If I could write in Spanish I'd fire off a letter to Mejia and his crew.

Decie, we could start a fund, we all pitch in a few bucks and pay someone to write the letter for us-problem solved!

What if Mirna is Isa's mother? She said she understands Amalia's hesitance to sell the bar, but "a mother does what is best for her children." Then Amalia said, "You've never had children, right?" And Mirna quickly agreed, but with a funny look on her face.

The scenes in the courtroom must have been some Jorge Salinas missed due to his accident. It was clear he was shot at a different time and without the rest of the cast. Almost all of the shots of Jorge were close ups and single shots. The reverse angles showing "Jorge" from behind were obviously a stand in (and not a very good match, either). Robs the scenes of much of their energy and tension, but what could they do?

RG--I think you are onto how they did it while Jorge was being "patched."

Still, flashbacks are annoying fillers, especially if you don't remember seeing them in the first place!

Goblue--We've known the dog was a living thing from the start, but he's not integral to the story. He just gets moved around and plopped down and stays there. There's been no loving interaction with the dog by the girls, no one takes him for a walk, hardly anyone talks to him--that's why he was called a stage prop. It's probably in Angelica's contract that the dog gets to be on the set with her. I wonder if he gets "extras" pay scale....haha.

Thank you so much, Eli! I very much hope that you will be able to get some sleep.

Some how, Derecho and Curtis need to "get theirs", too. These bumbling fools just make me flat out angry. They do not deserve to come out smelling like a rose. I don't why they are getting under my skin today, but they are and I want them to pay for their stupidity and pay for how annoying they have been.

As for Amalia, couldn't we just get rid of her somehow?!

Great guess. I saw the look on Mirna's face, but never connected it with Isa. But if Mirna had been around those few years back and knew Amalia, wouldn't she and other people know she was pregnant? Maybe she passed it off as having lost the baby--it is so common in tns.

I don't think we ever considered Mirna as Isa's mother but she did act oddly when she talked to Amelia. She certainly has no maternal instincts.. I still keep flashing back to the time 7 Seas entered the picture and when he met her he said she reminded him of someone. Could she has had the child while she was still in Vera Cruz and then come to work at JNTR and dumped Isa on the doorstep? We may never know but it does add a twist.

Oy, vey; another discarded child of Concho's?

Since Amalia didn't see him since Pedro's death until the midpoint of this story that's how nobody would have noticed Mirna being pregnant. Pobrecita de Isa if this is the case.
