La Tempestad Capitulo 58, Wed 10/16/13 - I will revenge my injuries: if I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear...*

* Frankenstein (Apply the quote how you wish. There are are so many options.)

Tonight we have two, two, two episodes in one! Missing scenes (some not all) are in blue.

So THAT’S her excuse!
Marina tells Becky she’s still got the blues because she’s separated from the DamHunk she loves. She’s so sad she can’t even think. Becky tells her to keep fighting. You go Becky!

DamHotEvenInACrappyTshirt paces and worries about the bebe. He ponders how much he loves his son and how important that relationship is. His daddy always told him how much he loved him more than life itself.

Another night in The Only Nightclub in Mexico City
In La Dama de la Noche Mercedes sings for a special guest, Marina Reverte (and Bea and Becky). Uni cuts her song short, “Es la Nostalgia”,  and Marina sheds a tear, either at the song or the editing. We feel her pain.

Uni deprives us of tonight's sex.
Sleazy music lets us know we’re about to see a down and dirty Hernan/Ursula throw-down. He:  “I love your little surprises.”  She: “I love that you love them.” (Can’t help but compare their lame dialogue to the DamPoetic love talk that burbles forth from Dam’s Luscious Lips.) Oooooh, they’re so dirty they head off to the bathtub. Someone’s gonna make bubbles tonight! (No, I don’t mean farting in the tub.)

ShutUpFulgencio!
Back in RLayDee Fully intercepts Lazaro and pushes the Naval Academy some more because ShutUpRosy wants it. Laz says No Thanks he doesn’t want to leave his new wife. Laz says think of your future and the good pay.

Mercedes watches Marina yucking it up with her family of Bea and Becks and says things could have been different.

Claudio sighting!!!!
Claudio shows up at the club. He’s an old pal of Mercedes, looking dapper. She’s thrilled to see him, kisses and hugs. He says she looks melancholy as always.

Read my lips
Laz says he’ll accept Fully’s help for the sake of his son. “Your son????” Fully thought bubbles he’s a grandpa! (As he mouths the words, lol!)  He’s all wiggly happy but tries to maintain in front of Laz who is obviously not a lip reader.

I was wondering when he’d show up
Lazaro runs home and announces to Lu/Padre/ShutupRosy he’s going to the naval academy. (Qué?? He didn’t discuss this with his wife first? Methinks Lazaro the spoiled little mama’s boy is finally revealing himself.) He gives bunches of reasons why this is a good idea but Lu is bummed. Padre T and especially ShutUpRosy are excited. The patio drinks to the beginning of the end of nice Lazaro.

Ester who?
Fully drinks and toasts to Lu and Laz and especially to his grandson!

Pester interrupts her flower arranging to takes a call from Dam. She asks any news of THEIR baby? He gives her the 411, he’s going to the cops. She feigns concern and says she should be there. Oh hell no he says, your presence will help nada. He’ll keep her posted. Yeah we’ll see, she says.

Marina raves about Mercy’s singing and runs over to gush and meet her friend Claudio Petroni. He immediately recognizes her name and asks, “By any chance do you know Damian Fabre?” He tells her they were cellmates. He says DamFab is a great man and he couldn’t stop talking about Marina every day. (See Marina? So there!!!) Marina says so then Claudio knows PART of their story. How sad that her love with Dam wasn't meant to be.

H and U Still Snogging
They’re still going at it in the bathtub. These two are really dirty and I do mean DIR TEE.

Bea tells Becky she feels uncomfortable with Marina and Mercy hanging out together. Becky reminds Bea that Marina doesn't know the truth, but there’s that whole Call of the Blood deelio that rears its head in every telenovela. Bea admits to feeling jealous of the special affection that Marina feels for Mercy.

Still at it
OK these two must be prunes by now, they've been snogging in the bathtub all night long. And drinking lots of wine. I wonder if they took a potty break?

It’s finally daytime. I wonder if H and U are still in the tub?

Wait for it...
Marina is at the Doc’s office for her fainting spell. Doc says it’s normal for someone who is, now wait for it, EMBARAZADA! ( A faux gasp goes up in the patio, then lots of snickering because you now we just KNEW it when she fainted.)

Embarazada? Doc prescribes vitamins. The patio prescribes a ConFab with DamFab. Rebecca is thrilled! Marina says it’s the best news ever. But...But...her bebe won’t have a papa.

Didn't know I loved leather
DamOMGHe’sInALeatherJacketNow visits Bea to say he needs to see Marina. Sorry, she’s with Becky. He just wants to talk about their “situation”. Bea is nice to him.

DamCanIJustRipThatJacketOffYouNow visits Mercy. She wants to talk to him about someone who has been important in her life. She hands him a card. “Maybe you know him?” Hey, it’s Claudio Petroni!  What a small world. Mercy says he’s free and is interested in Dam working for him. (Better than working for Hernan!)  He says first he’s got to get his son. “Your son???” Dam gives her the 411 on the kidnapped kid.

Rumors of his death were greatly exaggerated
Aha!!!! Pervy is in hiding and (still) writhing in pain with a badly wounded leg. (Cool.) Danger of infection. He’s got gangrene. Dying of pain. Refuses to go to a hospital. (Also cool.)

Mercy asks how is it possible? (The kidnap, not Mari’s pregnancy.)  All Dam wants is his child in his arms. She says he can count on her for anything he needs.

Becky and Marina gush over the news. But Marina also wishes things were different between Dam and Her. Marina says it’s stupid of her, (Yes it is! yells the Patio), but she doesn’t want to make Dam’s bebe suffer. Becky tells her to wise up.

Her good advice is interrupted by a call from Jose. He calls to say Dona Rufi is closing up the house and Pester’s not being agreeable about a divorce. She tells him regarding babies, things between Dam and Marina are even more complicated. See dude, she says, relationships always cause problems. Not true, he says, love conquers all. She says she misses him because she’s used to him. Nopis, he says, it’s love. She smiles.

It's a small world
Dam goes to the police station and runs into Robles. Of course. Robles never thought he’d see Dam in the DF. Dam updates Robes on his son. The police can’t help because Dam doesn’t have enough info.  Robles says he’ll help but he needs as much info as possible. Date of kidnap, description of baby, etc.

PervyErnie’s still in pain. He wants to know what happened. The doc says bad news, they had to save his life, so...adios leg! Ernesto acts like they had to cut off Little Pervy instead and I ain’t talking about the bebe.

Hernan has taken Ursula on a field trip to meet Estercita’s bebe. Hernan says pay attention, listen well and keep it shut, OK? Ursula gets the Ruh Roh look. Looks like she’s now part of Team Loser whether she likes it or not.

Dam calls Pester to get info on the baby for the police. Looks? Clothes? She doesn't remember, he uh, looked like a baby. In a blue onesie. Maybe. Kidnapped in a park in the DF. Sorry no photos.

Ursula tells Herny she’s on his side, no worries. Hasn’t she shown she can be trusted? (With whipped cream, chocolate, fruit, wine, bubbles, sneaking and lying...why yes.) He’s going to make her prove it.

Pester calls Hernan to tell him about Dam going to the police. He’s not worried. She says she has no option but to put herself in his hands, just don’t fail her, OK? Because she won’t sink alone.

In direct comparison we have Marina with tinkling nursery music in the background dreaming about her hijo, Dam’s baby. Ahhhh... I could do without the creepy lullaby music though.

DamWorried finally gets the call. The voice is disguised but it still sounds like Macario with a little bit of Darth Vadar thrown in. DamThreatening tells the Voice he’d better not dare hurt his son. The Voice says he’ll kill the bebe if Dam goes to the police and doesn’t obey.

Marina gently tells Bea her great news; there is nothing greater than the love a mother feels for her children blah blah blah. Yep, ESTOY EMBARAZADA!!! More happy hugs.

Marina was afraid Bea might be pithed but Bea is cool. Marina says she knows things will be fine because she had the best example in the world in Bea. Awwwww.

Mercy tells the police guy that since she’s been SO relieved since Pervy’s death. Police guy tells her that they found out PervyErnie was a human trafficker. Mercy is shocked, shocked I tell you.

Ernie’s doc brings him a wooden leg. He’s a mafia don, he can’t afford carbon fiber?

Hernan's Mis Planes
Hernan tells Macario he’s thought about it (Oh just for the past 15 years or so) and he’s going to take over Don E’s territory. Ursula pipes up that Fully’s not going to be happy about Hernan being the head guy. Que??? She says she’s not stupid, it’s been obvious to her that they're both involved in human trafficking. But don’t worry, she’s not going to blab. Hernan says he’s not worried and about Fully even less.

Pester gets a call from Blas. She’s muy impactada. He says he’s calling to make sure she and the kid are OK. She’s not accustomed to socializing with servants, but the kid is fine. She’s busy now. Adios. She’s suspicious and hopes Blas doesn’t try to find her.

Blas tells Pervy that  Pester was very nervous.

Marina says now more than ever Bea needs to protect her health so she can know her grandkid. Bea says Dam must be thrilled! Errrrr....he doesn’t know and Marina doesn’t want him to know right now. Becky and Bea don’t agree with this ridiculous decision.

Delfina visits Pester who’s not exactly thrilled to see her because she’s so worried about Dam. Delfina tells Pester to have a little dignity when it comes to Dam. Pester says Dam’s not by her side because he’s looking for THEIR son. QUE???? That’s right, she forgot to tell mom she’s got a kid and Dam’s gone to get him. Pester tells Delfina she trusts nobody.

Now Where's My Eye Patch?
Blas bring Pervy his pirate leg and says little by little he’ll be as good as new. Pervy says he’s going to make the traitor who outed him to the police pay, whoever it is.

Now Where's My Bot Babe?
Hernan visits Marina. Alas, she’s awake so he can’t slime on her. She decides to ruin his day by telling him her happy news. She’s expecting a DamBaby! Hernan is a few notches below thrilled. The patio is officially worried about the DamBaby. Hernan tells Marina not to tell Dam. She says she wasn't’ going to but why does he say it? Because Dam won’t care a DamThing about it, he says.

Robles visits Dam but Dam recalls Macario telling him not to tell the police or else. Dam tell Robles that Pester didn’t answer his call.

NO! Not OK!!
Marina tells Hernan she’s sure Dam would want to be with her. Hernan says if he cared then he would be by her side NOW. (Even though he doesn’t know she’s pregnant, he’s already stopped by, and she’s told him to keep away. Right.) He fills her head with poison and says he’ll always be by her side to offer protection and give a name to her son, OK?

Dam gets The Call and says he didn't tell the cops. “How much money? HOW MUCH????”

Mercy visits Marina who wastes no time in telling her the very good news. ESTOY EMBARAZADA! More happy hugs. “But please don’t tell Dam that I’m preggers because he’s busy with Pester’s kid.” (Gag!)  Marina doesn't want her happiness to get in the way of an innocent child. (They sleep, they eat, they s**t, they burp, love 'em. What's to get in the way?)

Hernan and Team Loser go over the what-ifs if Operation Secuestro goes wrong. Urusula is worried. Hernan is confident that Dam will play right into their hands.

Claudio visits Mercy and can’t wait to talk to DamBusy. Mercy says Dam can’t work with him right now because his plate is full but he can’t wait to see Claudio. Claudio says Dam’s not just a great guy, he’s very intelligent. He’d love his help in building a shipyard in Veracruz. Ahhhh, Veracruz, the land where he was born. .

Dam’s not having luck getting his money from a bank. He knows where to go for help.

The skinny on Claudio
He tells Mercy that his family inherited several businesses on the  Pacific side, but would like to establish one in Mexico. She tells him he has always been a very visionary man and she’s sure that his shipyard will be a success, but isn’t it time he sits down and thinks about who will inherit his fortune? Claudio says, “As we say in my country, Yo soy un lobo lampareado.Help! I don’t know what that means. Anyone??? UPDATE: Means "Old habits die hard". He says he’s always been a free man and not accustomed to sharing his life with anyone. Mercy says “what of your goods? What will happen to them?” Claudio says that is a very good question. It’s something he’s been thinking about he's looking for someone who is worthy to inherit all his fortune, dot dot dot.

Back in RLayDee Fully overhears Lu talking to Padre T. They go into the church and Fully wonders what’s up. Later Fully gets all up in Padre T's face so the Padre tells him to repent before it’s too late. He knows a lot of things about Fully that he didn’t hear in confession and Fully shouldn’t be surprised if one day Padre T speaks against him. Fully thought bubbles it might be time for Padre T to hook up with Madre E in the clouds.

ShutUpRosy entertains herself by making pregnant Lucia move the heavy Spanish Inquisition furniture in the house.

Mercy can’t resist visiting Bea and rubbing it into her face that THEY are going to be abuelas. Bea is her usual nice self and Mercy says for sure Bea will live long enough to meet THEIR grandkid.

Fully hires Nereo to do a "delicate" job and he’d better not fail. He gives Nereo a wad of cash and says be happy, it’s not so easy to forge Delfina’s signature. Nereo says if Delfina’s such an albatross, why doesn’t Fully, er, unload her?

Fully thinks about Nereo’s words. Yep, Delfina’s death would simplify many things.

Dam visits Mercy again to ask for a loan for the ransom. She asks about involving the police but DamRefusal says no, he must protect his son. He promises to pay her back, every cent.

Pester wonders why Blas called. Is Ernesto alive? Hernan calls to tell her it’s time to come to the DF to play her role.

Finally!
Mercedes finally gets around to telling Dam that a short time ago she met Pester in a restaurant, with a man. Gasp! Name of Ernesto Contreras. They can’t talk to him because the PervyErnesto died. Dam wonders if the kid could be his. Mercy says hold it in your arms to find out, cheaper than the ADN test. The DamPhone rings and it’s Macario. Dam says he’s got the money. Mac tells him to take a taxi to a church, leave the money in a flower arrangement, blah blah blah and he’ll get the kid.

The crew is in La Guaca drinking and wondering how Dam is doing. Candy says Pester is a bomb of exploding problems. Bagre says Candy is affected by her friend Dam’s problems. Lolo decides to help. He invites her to eat but says he doesn’t have a lot of money so he’ll cook, OK? Well he’s definitely Spanish because the menu is tortilla de patatas, Spanish ham and other things I didn’t understand, but he said it with a lithp so it must be Spanish, no?

Leave it to Hernan
Ursula holds DamBebe as Hernan tells her to drop the kid off and retrieve the money. He tells Ursula not to fail them. He loves that she’s decisive.

Say a Little Prayer for Me
Mercy gives Dam lots of cash that she happens to have in her desk. Thank goodness Alicia didn’t know about it. She probably would have used it to mop the floor or something. Dam insists on going alone, so she blesses him and says a little prayer to Michel..

Dam grabs a taxi and the driver is guess who? Macario!

Ursula, clad in black, scuttles into a church with the DamBebe. She says soon the flower vase will be filled with money and some of it will be hers!

It’s night. Apparently Macario has been driving Dam a little too slowly for Dam’s liking. Meanwhile Mac’s got Hernan yammering instructions in his ear.

Hernan looks at his brandy glass and tells Dam he’s going to make his life impossible.  The Patio wonders if the glass will survive the night.

Ursula prepares the vase and leaves the bebe next to it.

Damn, that traffic jam, how I hate to be late
Dam complains about being stuck in traffic. Macario shrugs and says, “That’s the city for you.” Wow, what a climax! Not.

Mañana - Dam retrieves the bebe. Pester plans to go to Mexico City.  Marina makes a decision and it doesn’t sound good.

"Now Where's My Eye Patch!"

Pirates don't appreciate those jokes.

Funny

Cynderella

Thank you, Cap'n not only for your comprehensive recap and for filling in the edited episode that we missed. Seriously, Uni.
The bathtub referenced were hilarious.
OMG-DamCanIJustRipThatLeatherJacketOffYouNow- I laughed so hard that I'm crying.
The interaction between Jose and Becky is wonderful. He has her number. I love it.
Percy- bwhahaha! Now where's my eye patch- priceless.
Marcario's voice with Darth Vader thrown in - so true.
Fully was very busy on the missing episode. From what I saw, Delfina is a goner. Fully is a one man exterminator. Fully and ShutupRosy are tal para cual, they both relish in planning demises. How dare she tries to get rid of her future grand. Beyotch!!

Cyn - Takes one to know one.

TJ - They cheated us because Padre T is a goner (and Delfi too as an addendum). Why hasn't Fully offed ShutUpRosy? Enquiring minds want to know. Calgon take her away!!

Another fun recap, thanks Cap'n! Hilarious!!
Loved, "A faux gasp goes up in the patio, then lots of snickering because you now we just KNEW it when she fainted."

I missed the lobo lampaearado comment, but I think the phrase is I am a lone wolf.
Or it could be I am a chandelier wolf.
Not sure. This is why I don't recap.

Team loser is right. I'm not sorry they cut out the sex scenes with Herny and Ursy. I hate when they cut out plot twists. I guess Ursy has no loyalties. Loved your description of her "scuttling" into the church, you just know the best way to say things!

What was with Ernie's 1798 peg leg? Maybe they could give him an eye patch too and we can have talk like a pirate day again, AARG. Good remark about the carbon fiber. Ah, now I'm seeing your comment with the eye patch, I'll bet the whole patio was picturing Long John Silver.

Did anyone else love how Pester reacted to seeing Blas? Busted!

Sylvia: Revealing and pivotal episode to which you did masterful justice. Loved the title and of course, there are a cast of characters it could pertain to. As always, you made this great fun. A special thank you for filling in the missing scenes (although I breathed a sigh of relief not to have seen Hernan and Ursu frolicking in the tub. Yuck.

"but tries to maintain in front of Laz who is obviously not a lip reader" and "The patio prescribes a ConFab with DamFab" were among my favorites but "Nopis, he says, it’s love. She smiles" had me sighing. Ahhh, love...Jose has looked very hawt lately and am hoping Uni will leave their scissors sheathed and their future scenes uncut.

Mercedes may have planted a tiny seed of doubt in Dam's mind, but it's obvious he wants the child and loves him already. If it does turn out to be Ernesto's, Damwon'tgiveadamn.

Was a tad surprised that Bea took Marina's news so well. Finally, some support. Hernan? No, didn't take it well at all. Looked as though someone punched him in the stomach. A highlight of the evening.

So now Fully is going to kill the Padre AND Delfina? Perhaps we should get the scorecard out to keep track of this lowlife, on the verge of being a serial killer.

Pester. Be afraid. Be very afraid! Ernesto is beyond enraged and his fury will be unabated once he discovers his son is missing. Let's hope he targets Hernan first and foremost.

Emarie, yes, Ernie's "prosthetic" left much to be desired. Exactly what century are we in?

Sylvia, thanks again. This was excellent.

Diana

Cap'n Sylvia -- Wonderful recap. Thank you. Many thanks for filling in the missing scenes.

Not liking Marina at the moment. Why must all leading ladies hide their pregnancy from the galan? Ugh. So annoying. So Marina doesn't want the PesterBaby to be without a father but she feels its ok to leave her OWN baby without a father. Doesn't make any sense at all.

Ok, Marina better not be thinking about letting Hernan be the father of her child...please no.

The return of Claudio was the highlight of the night. Was surprised to find out that Mercedes and Claudio are old pals. I'm loving the idea of DamFab working for Claudio. Yes it is better than working for Hernan. Umm I know the perfect candidate that is worthy of Claudio's fortune.

Padre T and Delfina better watch their backs. Not liking where this is going. And yes why doesn't Fully off ShutUpRosy? Doesn't make any sense.

Lucia looked so bummed when she found Laz made the decision to go to the naval academy. I feel bad for her and don't want her to left alone in the house with ShutUpRosy.

So Dam is off to rescue the baby. And Ursula is getting more involved with Team Loser. She looked so funny scuttling inside the church.

Hilarious, Sylvia. I'm so glad that you got to cover the debut of Ernesto's new leg. Of course he will need a parrot as well... Argh!

I got the impression that Damián looked a bit suspicious when he heard Macario's voice in the taxi, but I'm guessing that nothing will come of that.

How gallant of Hernán to offer to give Damián's baby his name.

It seems strange to me that no one is more curious about where Estercita has been and what she's been up to for the last nine months.

Carlos

thank you, Sylvia???I always love your recaps because they make smile, laugh, and feel happy. what a treat to read one at breakfast. I love your sense of good natured humor. I would like to have lunch with you someday.

So...Ernasty has lost a leg. Will he keep on losing body parts like the villain in Pasion until he finally loses his head ? We can only hope so because he is such a nasty piece of work.

I got a kick out of Pester's vague description of her beloved bebe. What a selfish, uncaring witch.

I also enjoyed the new dam adjective regarding the leather jacket.

And good old reliable Jose is always on the job. What a great guy to have in your corner.

Ursullied just keeps sinking to lower and lower depths. there isn't enough bubble bath in the world to wash away those two dirty birds,

Cap'n,

How considerate of you to watch on tv and online to fill us in on what we missed. I can't think of how much time that must have taken!

Loved: "Didn't know I loved leather" and "OMGHe's inALeatherJacketNow!" Sooooo funny!

Mercedes missed one KEY bit of info in her better late than never news to Dam: She forgot to tell him the Pest was MARRIED to Ernesto. He introduced her as "His Mujer" who was 10 months pregnant. She just casually said "she was with a man..." FRUSTRATING!

And Mauricio, ditto to everything you said about Marina. They are making her character so unlikeable right now. She went to Hernan's house to check out his remote control cuz she suspected him of blowing up her boyfriend, and yet she happily tells Hernan her baby news BEFORE DamFab. And when the psycho tells her not to tell Dam, she's all "I wasn't going to". That whole convo. made me soooo uncomfortable.

I also agree that Claudio's appearance was highlight of the night. So Dam's dream about being rich was a foreshadowing of when he will undoubtedly inherit Claudio's fortune (not a spoiler--just my wild guess!)

Thanks, Cap'n!

Whoops those ??? We're supposed to be !!!!! I was trying to write that comment while watching a three-year-old, doing laundry, and cleaning up the breakfast dishes. New studies report that multitasking is not a good idea. in my case, it is true.

Susanlynn: Yes, memories of LaFont certainly fit the bill here, don't they? He lost many limbs and body parts before the end.

Carlos and Mauricio, I don't know what is worse. That Hernan offered to give the baby a name or that Marina would give even a moment's consideration to such an idea. Both thoughts make me nauseous. Another generation of Fabre's to cause rage and jealousy...Ack.

Katy, good point. Why didn't Mercedes reveal Ester and Ernesto were married? But then again, I think the priest dissolved the marriage. It's very confusing...

Diana

Hilarious as always, Sylvia. The title is particularly wonderful. [I think it fits Fully most fully since the other villains still seem convinced that they CAN inspire love if they just try hard enough.]

I'm glad to be spared the visual of the Ursula/Hernan scenes. Thanks for small mercies, Univision!

And thank you, Sylvia, for filling in some of the gaps.

Cap'n Sylvia - wow! i was a tad bored with last night's epi, until I read your recap. I am glad Uni snipped H/U bathtub scenes. Thank you, and loved 'DamPoetic,DamHotEvenInACrappyTshirt.' I always say grown men shouldn't wear t-shirts unless it's to the gym or doing down n dirty chores.

- Having Claudio back is a nice surprise. hopefully, he leaves part of his wealth to DamPobrecito.

- what is up with MacarioCature's look? the penciled eyebrows, wig???

- ok, NOW I am totally hating Hernan. it's one thing to be messing with Dam/Mar, but now he's also messing with the fates of the babies. I am outraged.

And I am still muy confundido about why Dam and the Pest are married?! I thought the marriage was annulled. And then, maybe I missed something in the translation, I thought Pestercita said to Herny: "We are still civilly married". I didn't see any civil marriage, just the super quick church wedding. But in other TNs I've seen both. So are we to assume they had a civil marriage and that's what's binding them? When does Vivi get back from Uruguay!? We need her attention for details!

It's a gray, gloomy day in Ohio but as I drove home from work, I thought...there's a Cap'n Sylvia recap waiting for me. All is not lost!

My favorite segment (other than hearing about the sweet deleted José/Becky scene, was when you said that Mariana was

" expecting a DamBaby" (that just cracked me up for some reason)

and

[Hernan] is "a few notches below thrilled". (loved the way you said that)

Sounds like ANOTHER ANNOYING EPISODE. Must be the season because C.I. and P.E.A.M. are also extremely annoying right now.

BUT...we learned a new phrase..lobo lampearado. So 'twas not time wasted.

Oh, and fab title. Who needs Shakespeare when you've got Frankenstein. Works for me.

Capn,
Thank you! Loved this - wheres my eye patch, and, what - he can't afford carbon fiber! HA!
Loved everything!

I must say - Marina has gotten and gone past MY last nerve - like you said Mauricio. It is just all so absurd!!! Does anyone know where I can get a beanie?? You guys keep mentioning these.... and I need one.
And Hernan...dear god, I can.not.stand.him! So....I guess that speaks to his acting skills, eh?
Also, I have to hold my hand up in front of the screen when Marcario (the elf - thanks again Capn) is on screen because he is so bloody REEDiculous. He creeps me out, totally!
Wow, what a rant! sorry all...
it's just a telenovela Ana,it's just a telenovela Ana... I keep saying.
Seeing Claudio made me smile - bigtime, and the fact that he and Mercedes (perhaps my favorite character - other than DamFab - who is also annyoing me at the moment) know each other is perfect.
I guess there is also Jose (Fabuloso) and Becky (Fabulosa) so...all is not lost.
I just need that beanie....
Ana
(thanks for tolerating my rant - all:-)

Katy - you brought up a good point; Mar telling Herny first (ugh) about the pregnancy before DamDadtoBe.

Mauricio - and yes, pretty duh of Mar to be ok for her bebe to be w/o a dad. que the heck?

Marcario looked particularly odd in the purple knit cap when he was driving the cab. Is he evil or will he end up helping DAmReadyToBeADad rescue the poor bebe ? I think that M. could be redeemable unlike a lot of other characters in this show.

Judyb....We had a gray start to our day here. to the east of you, but now the sun is trying to come out. Perhaps your weather will clear up, too.

Ana...do not get the type of beanie Marcario is wearing. You need an official Caraycaray telenovela beanie .

and where is Mags?? in rehab i know ... I miss her.

There are official CarayCaray beanies crocheted by Emilia, but I don't think she's in the business right now. Too busy crocheting for her DamGrandBaby who is DamBeautiful (her picture is on my fridge, and not just because I want to cover up smudges on my DamStainlessSteel!

Susanlynn...we had a clearing about 4:30 yesterday after hours of rain, but this sky is sullen and appears quite ready to last for all eternity. We in Ohio are mostly tough; those who are not take double doses of Prozac and Zoloft to get them through our winters.

Hey, speaking of drugs, did you all read about those experiments that show Oreo cookies (or any high-fat, high-sugar food) are as addictive as cocaine. I believe it. I just about hear a bell go off in my brain when I eat one of those things.

So many good lines, but this one especially struck me funny...."The Damphone rings..." Perhaps it struck me funny because our damn phone is always ringing, and the caller I.D. Often is "unavailable"...to which I reply to the damn phone.....and so are we...leave a message if you must.

Good morning friends, and thank you for your comments. I won't always have time to watch two full episodes, but there was a lot of repetitive crapola last night so it was easy. DamWorried kvetching, PervyErny pitching a fit and throwing his wooden leg around, Pester hissing about herself, that sort of thing. Although Uni snipped out the whole back story of Fully plotting to off Padre T and presumably Delfina!

Carlos, one scene that I didn't include was Delfina asking Pester exactly what she'd been up to while she was gone. Delfina mentioned her concerns to Padre T who, I am guessing, won't be much help. So mom, at least, is wondering what Pester was doing while she was gone. She, too, might not be wondering for long. We'll see.

JudyB, Frankenstein is actually one of my favorite novels. I did my orals on it when I graduated from college. Young wife challenges famous husband that she can write a better horror story than he...and she does! What's not to love?

Fabulous recap, Cap'n Sylvia. Love the title and the reference to Frankenstein. I guess that works for a lot of characters in the TN world...lol

Agree with all who see Marina as acting a bit weird. I'm starting to feel like if she's going to give up on Damian every time something comes up, maybe he's better off with somebody else....like maybe Magda. But really, I'd like to see Marina and DamFab make it especially since they have a child on the way. If Marina marries Hernan to give the baby a father, that will be it for me with her.

No words to express the loathing I feel for Hernan, and yes, I think it says a lot about his acting skills. Ursula is treading on dangerous waters. Just hope she's a step ahead of it all. I don't really despise her for some reason. Can't quite figure out why yet...lol

ShutUpRosy needs to go and fast. I'm shocked that the ceiling of the church doesn't fall on her head when she enters. What a hypocrite!

I agree with you, Carlos, that it's surprising people aren't wondering where Estercita was and what happened to her. Doesn't make sense.

As annoying a character as Estercita is, I really enjoy Laura Carmine's portrayal of her. I think she's comedic.

And DamFab, I would think you'd be a little more suspicious that this baby is not yours....

Judyb...I wonder if you have worse winters than we here in northeast PA have. I am not looking forward to the snow, sleet, slush , and cold that usually descend on us in December. we have had a mild fall so far...mostly sunny with temps in the 60s and 70s. I get cranky in the dead of winter with the long nights and short days,

I have never been an Oreo fan, but I like dark chocolate which they are now reporting is actually good for you in SMALL quantities. I am slightly addicted to potato chips (hey! I grew up on a potato farm) , so I can never have them in the house.

I feel like a wimp. Temps are getting down to 50 degrees at night here and I am tortured.

Marta, ITA about the great acting by Ivan Sanchez and Laura Carmine. I am like Pavlov's dog when they start playing Hernan's music; I want to cover my eyes.

Susanlynn, I'm with you amiga. Don't like Oreos, love potato chips. (Also dark chocolate!)

Some (but not all) of my favorite lines:

"Ernesto acts like they had to cut off Little Pervy instead and I ain’t talking about the bebe."

That cracked me up. Ernie is bad bad bad. But I wish it had been someone else *cough Hernan* who had lost a body part.

"Ernie’s doc brings him a wooden leg. He’s a mafia don, he can’t afford carbon fiber?"

The peg leg made me laugh out loud. Poor Ernie...NOT.

"Oooooh, they’re so dirty they head off to the bathtub. Someone’s gonna make bubbles tonight! (No, I don’t mean farting in the tub.)"

Let's just hope they only made bubbles and not a surprise coming in 9 months. I'd hate to see their spawn. And yes they DID spend so much time on the bubble bath sex. No more bubble baths with these two please.

"DamCanIJustRipThatJacketOffYouNow"

I loved this DamName.

"Embarazada? Doc prescribes vitamins. The patio prescribes a ConFab with DamFab."

Loved ConFab and yes that is what Marina needs.

"It’s something he’s been thinking about he's looking for someone who is worthy to inherit all his fortune, dot dot dot. "

*connects the dots*

Sylvia..not only would they never let us sit next to each other in studyhall, now we could never eat together in the cafeteria. We would be very bad influences on each other..potato chips and chocolate for lunch?.. Sounds good to me. ...susanlynn, sadly having yogurt and seven almonds for lunch

P.s. Sooo..Claudio has a lot of money. I cannot remember why he was in prison . Was it because he STOLE a lot of money?

They never explained why Claudio was in prison. DamFab asked but Claudio didn't give a clear answer.

I love that Claudio has a lot of money! It is so perfect. A good guy, with a lot of money (will he leave it to DamFab???) - but....with that money (did he steal :-)Ha - that was funny) could he not dress just a bit better? I mean...he seemed kind of seventies, no?

And - I agree that a Magda/DamFab combo would not be all bad:-)

ana, Rene Casados (Claudio) MUST have that look. He always does. I'll bet it's in his contract, lol. But he really pulls it off, don't you think?

Thanks, Cap'n Sylvia. I was so mad at Marina, but now with the recap and all the comments I can't do anything but laugh. I like this one so much I’m going to repeat it: "Ernie’s doc brings him a wooden leg. He’s a mafia don, he can’t afford carbon fiber?"

Add me to the list of those missing Mags. At least she's got good reason for her troubles. But Marina telling the man whom she knows hates Damian about Damian's baby in her oven and not planning to tell Damian is stupidíssimo. Maybe if I hadn’t believed all that blah-blah-blah from Mercedes and Bea about what a sharp cookie Mariana is, I wouldn’t have taken it so hard.

I have never seen an actor who seems to enjoy his craft as much as Rene. I've seen him in many novelas, and he never just turns in a halfhearted performance. The world would be a better place if everyone gave as much passion to his/her work as Rene gives to his chosen profession. He makes me feel up just watching him . You go, Rene.

Good observation Susanlynn. One of my favorite parts of Cuando Me Enamoro were the scenes with Rene Casados and Silvia Navarro. They acted together with such gusto their relationship (father/daughter) was 100% believable.

Ah, well then, if he always looks that way - no problem! And, yes, he pulls it off well. I like him a lot:-)
ana

Ah, Sylvia:

What a thorough recap and a fun one too. I am so cranky with Marina right now; she has entered the stupid phase that is so typical of protagonistas.

I am liking Bea much more but Mercedes entitlement and ego are really showing, aren't they.

Pervy Ernie is great as one of the deadlier sort of sadistic pirates. No Johnny Depp here at all. The wooden leg absolutely cracks me up.

Thanks so much, Sylvia, for this entertaining recap. Our show is turning into a hot mess but your wit and fine writing shine, as always.

EJ

Hey...how do you say " Hot Mess" in Spanish? That would make a great title for a telenovela.......truth in advertising.

Oh, I forgot to mention how happy I was to see Rene Casados on the good guy team—with MONEY—yeah! He and Damian have an unbreakable bond and it is nice to see a father figure for Damian and he embarks on his journey of being a father.

Team Good will need resources to fight Ernesto and the Mafia.

Whether he appears in dapper outfits or a priest's cassock, Rene Casados is still my telenovio.

Judy, I am so sorry about your weather. I have 'SAD' so prolonged dark and gloomy conditions reduce me to a pile of warm jello. I feel guilty enjoying our Indian summer with daytime degrees in the high 70's and cool nights. No wonder it is so stinkin' expensive to live here in California. I guess we are paying for (generally) good weather. Funny, I never thought of it that way...

Best to you!

EJ

EJ...if you are smart enough to live there, you deserve to enjoy every sunny, expensive minute of it!

When I was 8 years old we lived in Monrovia, CA in a rented house. Big ol' rambling place with a huge barn, between two orange groves. We also had a lemon tree and an AVOCADO tree in the backyard. I could have cared less. We had moved there from a crappy old town in PA (Towanda) but I loved the place. Hilly with lots of snow. Perfect for a 6 to 7 year old. I thought California was WEIRD. I'm sure I'd love it know but it's too far away from my children and grandchildren to even consider.

Is it possible to see the scenes deleted by Univision? How and where?

EJ - it's nice to know you live in Cali, as do I. I too am afflicted with the 'SAD' condition. hee hee. I used to live in DC/NoVa for 15years before moving out here in '94, and i LOVE it; no more depression for me.

JudyB - I know Monrovia very well. I live to towns west of there.

Judyb..ahh yes..crappy old Towanda. I think that is north of us. Is that hurting and coal territory... Near Scranton and Wilkesbarre?

Gobluefan from OH -- You can watch on YouTube. Just do a search for La Tempestad plus the Episode #. Tonight will be Ep 74 and Ep 75 if they do a two episode combination again.

..hunting...not hurting...or maybe both ????

Agree about Rene Casados. He is awesome. Loving him as Claudio here. So glad that he joined the cast. Looking forward to seeing more Claudio and Damian scenes.

I've been thinking and could it be that since Ernesto is "dead" he can't access his bank accounts. Plus, for sure the Feds must have frozen his accounts. Could Ernesto now be penniless? I could be wrong about this. But it would explain that cheap peg leg. lol

UPDATE: Yo ya soy un lobo lampareado means "Old habits die hard". We had a lively discussion about this over on the PEAM board. But we think Claudio's saying refers to an animal, in this case a wolf, that sneaks into the chicken coop night after night and gets caught when the lights are turned on.

So is he saying he's managed to avoid getting snagged and having kids? Or that he's been single so long he's set in his ways and not interested in a relationship? Or that he was affected by being in prison? All of the above and more? He said it like he was a bit of a scamp.

PabloV is going to research it further if he has time and get back to us.

Un venado lampareado is a "deer in the headlights" and the dicho Venado lampareado es difícil de cazar" refers to the law that you're not supposed to hunt (i.e. poach) deer at night because they freeze in the light.

Thanks to Susanlynn, JudyB, PabloV, Julia and the others who participated in figuring out this mystery. It's fun to learn!!!

And on that note, Mauricio, I thought Pestercita inherited all of Ernestos worldly goods. So why is she asking her parents to pay for her new house? Are all Ernies assets frozen?

Cap'n Sylvia, thank you for the very entertaining recap. I am so happy that I found this blog to share my thoughts and disappointments with people who enjoy watching TN's as much as I do. Also, thanks for taking the time to fill in the gaps when the Uni scissors make an appearance.

Some of my favorite lines were:
"...sounds like Macario with a little bit of Darth Vadar thrown in."
"Claudio visits Mercy and can't wait to talk to DamBusy."
"Mercy gives Dam lots of cash that she happens to have in her desk. Thank goodness Alicia didn't know about it."

Those were just a few of the lines that I enjoyed. The last one about Alicia made me LOL.

Mauricio, I totally agree with you, and many others, about not liking Marina at the moment. I hate the fact that she is sacrificing herself and her bebe. I think that the writers do this so show how noble the character is. They did the same thing on Triumfo del Amor, where Ma. Desamparada also sacrificed herself, while being preggers, for the sake of the other bebe. I just hope that DamBornToBeAFather finds out sooner than later that Marina is embarazada with HIS bebe.

I was happy to see Claudio back. Susanlynn, I can't remember why he was in jail either. I think when he was asked, he did not want to talk about it. It looks like Claudio will be able to help DamLooksGoodAllTheTime. That makes me happy, because Dam won't have to take orders from Herny anymore. (Well, as far as work is concerned)

Speaking of Herny, I was not happy that Marina told him she was embarazada, but I LOVED the look on his face! LOL!!!!

Gotta go back to work folks...See you manana.

AuntyAnn, thank you for dropping by. We're very happy to have you join us and share your comments and thoughts.

Cap'n Sylvia -- Thank you for the update on lobo lampareado. And many thanks to those who helped solve the mystery over on the PEAM board.

Katy -- I was only speculating about Ernie's assets being frozen. Nothing has been said about it in the show.

AuntyAnn -- Yes. I remember MD hiding her pregnancy on TDA. It seems that ALL leading ladies hide their pregnancies on TNs. It has got to be the most annoying TN cliche ever.

Hi, LT people!

I have seen the episode we were talking about, and according to the context, what Claudio is saying is:

I have been around the block...
Been there, done that.

Yo ya soy un lobo muuuuy lampareado!
Like saying, muuuy corrido, muuuy paseado. ''muuy'' like in the tooo much sense. Very, very much ;-)

Pablo -- Thank you for the info on lobo lampareado.

Thanks. It was a little confusing because we were missing the word ''muy'' and now that I watched it, I got it.
Anytime, I am here next board (PEAM).

"Lampareado" means running scared. Un venado lampareado es dificil de cazar would then mean that a scared (and running) deer would be difficult to hunt, which is true. Lobo lampareado, in the way that Claudio used it, would mean that he's a confirmed (lone wolf) bachelor, "running scared" of commitment, que no?

Can't resist posting this again
Rene Casados at his best in La Madrastra

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DqnRjoI818

It's not fear, is precaution.

I don't think he is running ''scared'', better avoiding juárever commitment because he likes the way he lives. Why ruining it?

Variopinta -- Thanks for posting the video. La Madrastra would have been a blast to recap. It was so ridiculously funny.

Is it possible to have TN fatigue?

Same old and same stupid choices. I cannot relate to characters. It's lala-land, repetitive and boring.

Even DamFine and WWP kind of lost their magic. :(

I stopped watching La Stupistad every night but still reading recaps.

Thank you for fun and the snark.

Two Things (channeling our favorite Ximena from Un Gancho)

1) Thank you Pablo and others for helping out with what Claudio said. So much meaning in such a little "muy". It seems so simple but I was completely baffled. You guys rock!!

2) vita, I'm missing your haikus. In fact I almost posted earlier that I am going through a vita haiku withdrawal. Just sayin'.

Vita-I know the feeling of being tired of the same old story again. But for me I can not get enough of DamHotness. He is the only reason I watched Dancing With the Stars. Because I had gotten tired of watching that show too.

I had this feeling while watching last nights episode that Claudio might take an interest in Bea. Again, it was just a feeling.

MANY thanks for the wonderful recap and clever comments, Cap'n Sylvia! I was missing so many details and you filled them all in. Your recap is so funny and is helping me stay with this novela.

Marea Primavera

Sylvia thanks so much for this great recap as well as filling in the Uni-generated gaps.

Sylvia,

I oblige.

On watching TN:

In the evenings
I find peace and remote control
One is useless

Geriatric Erny
Lost left leg in a fight
He is all right now

Gracias! And just in time for happy hour.
