La Tempestad Capitulo 63, Wed 10/23/13 - To Bea or Not to Bea

The Uni snippers really did a number tonight. They left in way too much of Bea and Marina and kind of mixed up some of the other scenes. I hope this recap makes sense. Scenes left on the cutting room floor will be in BLUE.

¡Vamos!
Marina (who has been told Bea is sick in bed) sits with Bea who says she has something difficult to tell Marina. A secret she has held for many years. Something very important she has never told Marina but today she wants to tell her so she doesn’t take this secret to her tomb. Bea tells her daughter that she has always loved her and Marina has been everything to her. “Marina, you must know the truth about your provenance from my own mouth. I am your mother but not the woman who brought you into this world. You were put into my arms shortly after birth, but your real mother is another woman.”  Marina says, now wait for it, “No puede ser!”

DamCute and Lolo are at La Tempestad cogitating about the sea and making plans. They are accosted by two  ruffians who, quite frankly, look like they just left a leather bar in The Castro. No offense to Castro Street of course.

As if to support my observation the goons whip out chains. YES, CHAINS! (Where are the whips?) Lolo and DamMacho gleefully kick their butts. Lolo in particular has a wonderful time, sticking his tongue out and cackling with each head and belly butt.

Marina composes herself and listens to Bea’s tale. Bea was always a sickly girl. She fell in love with Ariel at first sight, but he always treated her like a friend. One day he brought flowers to her and she admitted her feelings for him but because of her weakness she could never give him children. She assures Marina that even though she is not Marina’s real mother, Ariel is Marina’s true father.

Bea never knew that Ariel had had a relationship with another woman, Marina’s mother, who was apparently the love of his life. Maybe Ariel married Bea so as not to endanger her health.  She can only imagine how horrible her real mother felt knowing she was pregnant yet hearing her love was going to marry someone else.

Marina hugs Bea and says she shouldn’t feel guilty because she didn't know any of this. True, says Bea, she and Ariel got married but he was always a bit pensive and sad. One day Ariel arrived with Marina in his arms and he told Bea the story. At first she felt betrayed but Ariel told her that Marina’s real mother said their child was in great danger and she couldn’t take care of her. The moment that Bea held Marina she became her mother. She’s telling Marina this now because she is very sick. Marina insists Bea is her real mother, always has been, and nobody will take her place. Marina asks, who is this other woman? She needs to know.

Bea ain’t tellin' and Marina doesn’t understand why. Bea says be patient and wait a little longer. Marina decides it doesn’t matter. Bea is her REAL mother, Bea and only Bea.

Marina goes all Magdalena and starts ripping on her verdadera madre, she doesn’t care about the reasons, how could a woman give up her child? She wants to know nada de ella. Punto. There is no place in her heart for this woman.

Dam visits Pester and accuses her of sending the leather bar goons to threaten him.

The battered goons return to Hernan's Hideaway to tell him they failed in their mission but they’ll try again. Hernan says no matter, good work, let me get your payment, bwahahaha!  He goes into the house, gets his gun, and shoots them. Oh ick, one falls into the pool. That’s going to be messy. Hernan has a tantrum and fires randomly as his butler watches from upstairs, horrified (because You-Know-Who is going to get stuck with clean-up).  “If you want something done right you’ve got to do it yourself,” Hernan sighs. Si quieres hacer las cosas bien, las tiene que hacer uno mismo.

Marina tells Becky what Bea revealed. Why didn’t Becky tell her? She thought they shared everything. Becky says this was Bea’s secret to tell.  And speaking of secrets has Marina told Dam about the baby?

Becky and Bea talk about Bea’s confession. Bea is afraid she’s not going to last much longer, she’s dying day by day. Bummer, she says, that she’ll never know her grandkid.

Marina, in tears, runs to DamSympathetic. She tells him she heard news that has marked her heart. Bea confessed she is not Marina’s real mother. DamShocked can’t believe it. She gives him the 411. Her destiny has changed forever. Dam says nothing has changed, be strong and believe in their past, present and future. The sea taught him lots of things such as face those tempestades head on, and peace always follows una tempestad. (So in real life that would be "Not if you can help it" on the first, and "Usually" on the second.)

Rewind a little bit: At the moment Marina heard the shocking news, Mercedes stumbled and clutched her heart. I forgot to tell you that part.

DamIntuitive looks at Marina funny and says he feels something different, something powerful joining them.  He looks into her eyes and a light invades his soul and makes him immensely happy. He looks into her eyes and it’s as if, as if...oopsie Mercedes calls Marina. Everything OK? Problemas? Marina says her mother just confessed that Marina’s not really her birth daughter. Marina wonders why her mother abandoned her? There could be no reason for a mother to abandon a child, could there? Except that she was a BAD WOMAN.

Ernesto practices walking with his pirate leg and says he’ll do anything to find out about his son. He lets Blas go out but tells him to hurry back because he doesn’t want to be alone.

The Feds show Blas’s pic around town. A shopkeeper says Blas stops by every Monday, hey that’s today, and he’s always nervous and pays in cash.

Mercy calls Bea to tell her Marina is destroyed. Why did you tell her the truth? Bea tells her she feels worse every day and that she only has a little time left.  Sooner or later Marina had to know the truth and Bea had to tell her before it’s too late. It’s up to Mercy to tell Marina the truth of who is her real mother. Mercy says she would dash right over but Mags just got out of rehab.  She thanks Bea for not telling Marina the identity of her verdadero madre. She says she hopes life doesn’t play another nasty trick on her, that she found Magdalena just in time to lose Marina.

Robles the bum tells Dam that Nereo was the only suspect they have for Ursula’s attack, but he has an alibi and they had to let him go. Other news: One of his men interviewed Pester and found out about Contreras. Dam says Mercedes warned him about Ernesto and told him she saw Pester and Ernesto in Mexico City. Robles plans to visit Mercy to get clues about the new boss.

Oh please let it end - Marina visits Bea again. Bea tells Marina not to be so hard on the woman who gave her life. Marina says that woman doesn’t exist and she doesn’t care about her story. Bea says every story, like the moon, has two faces.

Magdalena arrives home with studly Valentin. She tells Mercy she has decided never to drink again. Val says her new life starts now and he is always available to her. He is her padrino (sponsor) and if she calls he’ll be there for her. Mercy hopes he gets to know them better, nudge nudge wink wink.

Dam visits his bebe Michel while Pester watches and avers that she is a great mother, right Consuelo? Consuelo lies and it gives her indigestion. Dam asks Pester why she never told him she was married while she had disappeared. Why did she hide this from him?

Pester cries to Dam that she had no memory and that her Pervy marriage isn’t valid anyway. He informs her their church marriage was annulled. She goes into bitch mode as usual, all that she suffered, all that she gave up for him, yada yada. If he wants DNA proof that the kid is his then go ahead and get it!

Hernan visits Marina at Neptuno. He needs to terminate their partnership and get his investment back.

Marina tells Hernan this is bad timing for her. She offered to end the partnership many times and he didn’t want to. He lies that he has serious economic problems so he has to ask her for his investment. Gosh with all those problems with the fire, and the refrigeration going out, he just went into too much debt. Marina says Mercy is having money problems too and can’t pay him. The only think she can think of is to give Hernan her shares of the fishery. More shares means more profit for him.

Pester thought bubbles maybe she went too far with the DNA, if Dam finds out the kid is Ernesto’s then all will be lost. Luckily (for her) Dam says he doesn’t need DNA proof. She fake cries and  tries to hug him, how pathetic. She says if he divorces her he will NEVER see his nino, NUNCA.

Dam tells Jose about his conversation with Pester. Jose says unfortunately mothers usually get custody of their kids at least until they are six years old. Dam hates the idea of his son being with Pester; he knows Pester lies and is hiding something. He tells Jose about her being married. Jose says the first step is to register Michel in Dam’s name.

Ursula loiters in front of the Sabritas vending machine. She recognizes Hernan’s car and says she’s going to prepare a surprise for him.

Pester tells Consuelo she’s going out so take care of that..that kid there.  Dam pops in and sees Pester leaving, so Pester tells Consuelo to hurry up and get that bebe ready for an outing. Does Dam want to go for a walk with them? Sure, let’s walk on over to the civil registry and register the baby. Pester smiles and thought bubbles she sure is glad Pervy Ernie’s dead and can’t give her any trouble.

Hernan says he can’t, he simply can’t take her shares. Marina believes there’s no other option, she’ll prepare the documents. Mercedes will retain 55% of the company, obviously she will have the greater share. Hernan thought bubbles that Mercedes will be the major shareholder for only a short time, bwahahaha. Soon he will be the ONLY owner and Mercy will be in ruins.

The whole family has quickly assembled at the station for Michelito’s registration.  La Familia Salazar is there, Dam and Jose, and Becky holds Michelito. Fully hears the name Michel Fabre and goes ballistic once again, he won’t be a witness to anything with MichelFabre in it. DamSmirk is amused by Fully’s blustering but now they are missing an official witness. (Really, nobody else in that crowded room can witness?) Suddenly Toribio appears, HE can witness!

Marina hopes she doesn't regret giving her shares to Hernan, after Mercy has been so good to her and all.

Hernan gets home to find...CANDLES. And Ursula. And I think we all know what that means.

Marina recalls Bea’s tearful words that her “real” mother is another woman. Marina hopes she never meets this other woman.

Robles visits Mercedes. She is exceedingly happy to see him and gives him a big hug.  Hmmm...they make a handsome couple. Now where was I? He tells her he’s been disguised as a beggar to try to get info on their case. Now he needs to talk to her about Ernesto Contreras. Robles wants to hear everything that Mercy knows about Ernesto to help them identify the new boss...

...who is now wrestling half-naked with Ursula. She whips out a knife and he starts laughing. She blindfolds him and tickles him with the blade. Oh my. He loves the kinky. She ties him up and drips hot wax on him. There goes dinner.

Ernesto paces, kathunk kathunk, because Blas hasn’t returned.

Blas is at that same shop acting suspicious and paying in cash. The Feds apprehend him for being Ernesto’s accomplice.

Becky wants to babysit Michel for the afternoon and Pester is glad to get rid of him. Bea is thrilled to meet him when Becky and Jose bring him home. (BTW, Where is doggy Jose?) Marina shows up and I can just hear little Michel now, lapping up all this affection from ‘His” Marina and her good-looking family. And now Michel has a new girlfriend, “his” Tia Becky. Jose notes Becky is very good with children. Maybe one day they could make a family. Becky changes the subject but Jose just smiles at her.

DamPleased arrives and sees Marina holding Michel. He hopes that one day they can have their own children. The loving moment is ruined by Pester the Harpy. She snips that Becky can hold the baby but not Marina. Gah! I wish someone would put her out of our misery! Dam stops her and tells her to leave the house. Becky takes the baby back so Marina and Pester can yell at each other. Marina tells Pester that Dam NEVER loved her, so get that through her thick brain. Pester slaps Marina and Marina slaps her back harder. You go Marina!! Rewind. Slap. Slap. Dam pushes the beyotch out of the house.

Bea is the voice of reason, she says that Dam has made many sacrifices for his son and is in a terrible situation. Marina agrees and says a child cannot choose his parents, but can always thank God for those who are on their side.

Mercy has told Robles about Ernesto. She says that Hernan told her he had nothing to do with human trafficking; that it was all a misunderstanding provoked by Fulgencio. Her own investigations turned up nothing.  Robles says Hernan has been very careful, but he is a very dangerous man who would sell his own mother.

Bea gets a migraine. Her head feels like it’s going to explode. She staggers. She grabs her head. She goes down!

Becky finds her and yells for Jose, the man not the dog.

In Other News:
Early in the episode Claudio and DamFab overlook the site of the new astillero (shipyard). Claudio gives DamCurious the 411 on his release. His lawyers found proof of a great injustice, enough to get him out of jail. “Betrayal, betrayal by my main partner. But truth will always reign, thanks to God.” Claudio tells DamLucky that there is nobody in his life to inherit his fortune. Unfortunately, in the matter of love, life has been surly to him. He never had a child, but he’s in the process of arranging for someone deserving to inherit his fortune.

Olinto gripes to Candy and the Crew about their current corrupt presidente municipal (like a mayor). Candy says the best candidate is already there. Olinto’s their man!  The crew parades Olinto around on their shoulders and he wins the votes of all the La Guaca patrons, (assuming drunks and hos get around to voting).

Lucia tells Fully she heard him tell ShutUpRosy that he’s Laz’s papi but don’t worry because she ain’t sayin’ nada a nadie. She says Laz always wanted to know who his papi was and now that she is pregnant she knows how important is the love of father and son.  Fully hopes that Laz will accept him as his father. There is a groundbreaking ceremony for Fully’s new Hospital Padre Tomas. Fully makes a speech. Delfina is thrilled. Pester is bored. Laz looks like he might be moving over to Fully’s side.

Mercy sells her nightclub to save her other businesses and is sad.

Mañana - Marina tells DamHappy that he’s going to be a father. Pester overhears, drats!

Thank you" Cap'n for another comprehensive double episode recap. Thank you for making sense of the whole thing.
When the artists were sketching Blas he looked very similar to Fulgencio. I forgot about his disguise.
I'm glad that Shutupbea finally told Marina the truth. I did feel bad for Mercy as Marina was telling her that she knows that Bea is not her biological mother.
Pester is a real pain in the butt. She continuously tries to validate her lies. I wish that DamWonderful took the DNA test and shut her up for good.
Regarding the registry, I too wondered how many people are needed as a witness and JuicyArmsJose is a lawyer no less. That wasn't enough?
I'm glad we missed the kinky scenes with Ursillied and Hernan the Horrible. Ewwwww! He is one demented individual. Shooting those inepts in cold blood.
Does Marina's house have a front door because everyone just walks in?
It seems that Shutupbea is still holding on. Oh dear!
In other news, thanks again, we missed some valuable info which will be needed at another time. Say it isn't so- Mercy sold her club, awwww shucks!

Thank you Cap'n Syl, loved the recap. Loved the way you led one scene into another, "Robles wants to hear everything that Mercy knows about Ernesto to help them identify the new boss...
...who is now wrestling half-naked with Ursula." And your parentheticals, like, "assuming drunks and hos get around to voting" and "because You-Know-Who is going to get stuck with clean-up." So funny.
Thanks for hammering out those lost scenes.
Yeah, the cutters left in too much Bea and Marina drama.
The writers of these things are such children, the rich guy who shows up justing looking for someone to give his inheritance to. Yeah, right. Maybe he'll marry Mercedes and help her out of this financial crises. Then again, she was awfully happy to see Robles.
Can't wait for Pester to find out Ernie survived.

Thanks, Sylvia for another treat of a recap with lots of tricks thrown in for good measure.

I was on FaceTime with my daughter, so I had the TV on mute. Every time I looked at the screen, Bea was there...crying and emoting. Crying really takes the energy out of me. I wonder if this actress goes home exhausted every day. Telenovela deaths are often very long and drawn out. I am thinking of Alborada and Antonio's lingering on the brink and his many deathbed speeches after his backward somersault down the palace stairs. Yikes.
okay..enough is too much......Not to Bea.....Goodbye already.

Sylvia: I laughed at the title - hilarious.

I have trouble keeping up when the recap is fairly self explanatory. You created a full, savory concoction from the remnants of a butchered mess. You reinvented this fractured fairy tale, garnishing this with your special comedic and insightful spin on this. It was simply great.

"cogitating about the sun" and "Marina goes all Magdalena" were among my favorites.

"Robles visits Mercedes. Hmmm...they make a handsome couple" Yes, they do. I had thought Mercedes and Claudio might end up together but I thought the same thing you did when the Commandante and Mercedes met. I'd be happy with either scenario (looks like you share my opinion Emarie).

Hernan's murderous tirade was sobering. He might be well served to learn anger management. And quickly. "Shooting those inepts...: good one Tablet jefa!

Don't know why Uni would cut the scene where JazLu confronts Fully with the fact she knows Laz is his son. Imagine that was a pivotal scene. If Laz does go to the dark side, it would be interesting to see the events that lead up to that rather than have it happen without watching the evolution.

May I digress to mention that Jose's arms are to die for? Have to say they rival Dam's - he was delicious in that white shirt! Sigh...

Disgusted Hernan has talked Marina into giving him her shares. Marina needs to wake up and figure out what is going on. Of course, Mercedes needs to speak up too.

I'm really liking Bea. She is doing the right things and although overly emotional at times, she has been a wonderful mother.

So, the big reaveal happens and Pester is a part of it. Sigh. These are not good tidings.

Thanks again Sylvia! This was fantastic.

Diana

I am a lurker, but I have a question. What episode are we actually on since they are combining episodes?

Tks Cap'n
To Bea or not to Bea, is that ser o estar?

It seems they cut out a lot of important parts. So glad you include them.

Well, Sylvia, this is hilarious. So very funny, and of course I appreciate so much your filling in the blanks for us.

"They left in way too much of Bea and Marina..."

Boy do I ever agree. I was shouting out Please make it stop! All she had to do was call Marina to her bedside, take her hand, and say,

"Luuk, I am not your mother."

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I can't stand Hernán but I love his rages. I swear, when he thanked the guys and said he was going to pay them, I thought, so are you going to shoot them?" and Ill be darned...

I must be warped, I desperately want to see those delicate terrariums demolished, yet I was appalled by that guy he shot falling into the pool.

Carlos

Carlos
You have been watching way too much Mejia.

Cap'n:

What a shining pearl of a recap! They give you a couple oysters and you find the pearl! Wonderful!

I can see why they gave Bea and Marina so much screen time. Bea is dying and I think has very little time left. I don't like the dragging out of Bea dying either, but I'm glad she was able to tell Marina the truth about her bio Mama. I think that's what is being meant even though they are using the phrase verdadero madre. Could Bea be having a stroke? The way she kept holding her head, and fell like that? I wonder.......

Does anyone else think that even though Pester offered to have a ADN test done, she wouldn't find some way to fudge the results? I bet she would. I agree with Y'all she is very annoying!

I agree with Y'all about the Commandante and Mercy, they sure make a great couple! And the smile on both their faces!

Herny needs to die already! This guy is a horrid, just horrid. He kills to get what he wants. If I were Ursullied I'd be afraid, very afraid. And those hissy fits! They are getting worse and worse, and that laugh after he killed those guys, bone chilling!

I wish Marina had not offered her shares. Now that Mercy knows exactly what Herny is, she will be fit to be tied.

Loved the registry scene of the whole family registering Baby Michel. I don't get why they needed another witness, when the oh, so hawt Jose was standing right there either ; )

Diana:

I am so with you about Jose, sigh!

"Hernan gets home to find...CANDLES. And Ursula. And I think we all know what that means."

Oh boy, do we ever. And then drips hot wax on him ..."there goes dinner."

Lordy, Sylvia, you are so funny. That combined with you-know-who has to clean up the pool. Tell it like it is.

Haven't watched this in a while, but let me just say, along with TabletJefa, Diana and Mads, I do remember José's wunnerful wunnerful arms, and yes! they are fine competition for Dam's. Plus, imagine how tenderly those juicy arms could hold a wee baby. Time to get busy Miss Becky!

Thanks for a fab recap and for taking the time to include all the cut scenes, Capn.

I finally watched the show for the first time in weeks. Sylvia- Like the rest of your recapping team, you are going above and beyond to give us the cut scenes, on top on an already wonderful recap. Thank you.

I sure am glad I saw the previews, because I asked out loud MANY times during this episode, why the HELL isn't Marina telling Dan she's pregnant. Especially after hearing the sad back-story of her bio-parents.

By the way, I sure wish tn writers would stop saying "real" mother and father, and start saying biological mother/father. Talk about sending the wrong message.

I was also mad at Marina for going into her rant about only a bad woman giving up her child. I understood Maggie's angry reaction because she grew up under the worst conditions. But Marina grew up with her bio dad and a loving mother, and is well educated. She should know that there are many valid and unselfish reasons why a woman would give up the child she loves. Plus, Bea told her the reason her mother gave her to her father was because she was in grave danger. I get that she would be thrown off balance and confused. But I think her automatic hate for her bio-mom is immature and unjustified.

Vivi:

I so agree with what you said about Marina and her anger. I can understand Mags anger when she found out Mercy was her Mama, but Marina that was something else. I too want them to use Bio Mom instead of verdadero Madre. The verdadero Madre sounds so cold.

Maybe that particular government office requires two witnesses from each parent to register a child. Damian practically had the whole town with him (LOL) but poor unpopular Estercita could only round up her parents and cranky I'll-leave-if-you-don't- name-the-baby-after-me pouted when he didn't get his way and left.

Thank you, Cap'n Sylvia, for your hilarious and comprehensive recap, along with filling in the blanks. Love your title too.

Vivi, ita about Marina's rant about there being no excuse for a mother giving up her child. Her attitude is extremely immature and just plain ignorant.

Which brings me to Damian and his not wanting a DNA test. Although Estercita is annoying, it seems she's a lot smarter right now than Damian. Just bringing up, "Why don't you get a ADN test" may have been an intelligent ploy by dear Pester, thinking that if she suggests it Damian will probably not ask for it assuming that the child must be his. But Damian knows she'll stop at nothing to get what she wants, so to me it's just plain stupid that he doesn't do it. Of course, I'm happy for the baby that he has someone who loves him, even if it's not his daddy.

Although Ernesto is nowhere near father material, he DOES love his son, so little Michel actually has TWO daddies who love him, but no mommy. Well, I take that back. Marina loves him because she thinks he's Damian's.

It was pretty adorable that little Michel was surrounded and loved by all of the people in Marina's household, and he's related to none of them in any way.

Thought you might be interested in the origin of the cenote

Anon 9:35- Just a quick episode glance on Wikipedia (avoind reading anthing else to avoid spoilers) shows these were Caps 83 and 84 in complete episodes.

If they keep doubling up and chopping episodes till the very end, that gives us less than 4 weeks to go on this tn, as it seems that there are only 121 episodes planned and this ends in Mexico next week.

Knives and hot wax....yikes!!!!!...well no one deserves them more than Herny. ...but not it that strange manner that seems to put a smile (smirk..grimace..) on his face. I am glad that TPTB are leaving the kinky scenes between Ursullied and Herny on the cutting room floor. I do not need to see them...bleeeccchhh.

DamDaddy has fallen love with that sweet bebe and does not care if he is the bio father. I think that's why he is not concerned about having a DNA test. He loves the little guy , so he feels like the daddy. My hub picked up the baby boy my friend adopted from the hospital a few days after we left the same hospital with our first daughter. (The lawyer wanted someone outside the family to take the baby from the hospital. )The nurse gave him a really weird look. I sometimes forget that my friend is not Scotty's biological mother. They even look alike to me and are very close.

When I was in recovery after my second daughter was born, I asked the young girl next to me what she named her baby and she told me that she was giving him up for adoption. Very sad.

I find it hard to believe that Ernesto could really love anyone. Possession and ownership is his thing. He'd only love his son as long as he led the life of dear pappy.

Susanlynn- I also agree that Dam doesn't care if the baby isn't his bio baby, and basically said so. I think he rushed to have the baby registered in his name just so that Ester can't pull a "you're not the bio-daddy and you can't see him anymore" trick.

Cap'n Sylvia - mighty fine recap. Thanks.

For CRYING out loud..... enough already of Bea/Mar!!

Hernan going berserk always cracks me up.

Hi, Sylvia:
Well, in your capable hands, dear Sylvia, chopped liver became foie gras.

Hernan has gone completely round the bend. I am not sorry to have missed the cut mild SM scenes.

Sylvia, your comment about the incompetent thugs being straight off the Castro absolutely cracked me up. The only difference is that the if the Men in Black were REALLY from the Castro, they would be much more manly.

Now Damian has another bad case of the stupids. Let's see, hombre; you do not trust Estercita, you are now aware that she was sold into slavery and that she married her "owner", she was apparently PG for 12 months, but, nah, you do not need a DNA test to prove your manly paternity of Baby Michel.

Can't wait to see just how many episodes we cover tonight.

I also saw that La Tempestad was doing great in the ratings in the US. What are UNI thinking?? THIS MAY BE WM LEVY'S LAST TN (for a while, anyway) and they are not going to let the audience in the US make sense of the story???

What is the business logic behind this decision?

EJ

Vivi...the quick registering of the bebe reminded me of Alborada. Don Luis (The Mystery Boinker of Santa Rita as Melinama called him) was the bio dad , but the mother Hippolita did not know that, and she was worried that her husband Antonio would take the baby . Luis rushed to have the church baptism and registered himself as the father with the mother "unknown" to prevent Antonio from taking the bebe.

Good morning all and thank you for your insightful and fun comments.

Gosh I was tired after recapping last night's episode. Uni's crazy editing forces one to pay attention more than normal. How dare they?!

Little baby Michel is such a doll. I think he will be well-adjusted because, except for his actual verdadera madre he is surrounded by love. I was laughing when Becky was babysitting because I kept hearing his "voice" (courtesy of Novela Maven) narrating his feelings! So funny. That will stick with me always.

Carlos, you and me both amigo, I was aghast that the "inept" (Thanks TJ) fell into the pool. I grew up with a pool and they are a PAIN to clean.

I am also in love with JuicyArmsJose (thanks again TJ, you are on a roll). Thankfully my heart is big enough to have plenty of room for DamIrresistible AND JAJose. I love how these two men are portrayed as faithful, loving, capable men. Some of my favorite scenes are when Pester rants and Dam just looks calmly looks at her, refusing to react.

They also cut a little travelogue scene of Laz and Lucia watching some river rafters and zipliners where Laz expounds on the many activities in the Veracruz area. I actually love that sort of blatant advertising that shows off the assets of the locale. I remember in Alborada they had half an episode each dedicated to the growing/raising and exporting of both vanilla and cochineal. It was fascinating.

Variopinta, thank you for the link to the cenotes. Have we seen any in this telenovela? They are a very cool geographic phenomenon. I got to SCUBA dive in one some years ago and it was the oddest sensation. It had both salt and fresh water mingling so the visibility was very blurry.

Emarie, no kidding, rich guy just looking for an heir. Really?

EJ, of course you are correct that our verdaderos Castro Street denizens are much more manly than the two inepts.

Also can't wait for Pervy Ernie to show up. Who's he gonna call now? Hernan? Fulgencio? Macario?

Thank you, Cap'n for another great recap!

"Ernesto paces, kathunk kathunk, because Blas hasn’t returned." this cracked me up!

And speaking of Ernesto, wouldn't a mafia boss land on his feet in some cool safe house? Ernesto looks like he's holed up in granny's attic with his white gloved butler no less. Can't wait to see plan b now that Blas is busted.

NM, per your comment yesterday, this is totally TDA part deux! I've been thinking that ever since WL fell in love with the baby (whi isnt his). And it's also similar because Marina, like Maite in TDA, is expecting his real baby!!!

More Mags and Valentin scenes. And bring back Ernie!

Thanks, Cap'n! I so look forward to your recaps!

Susanlynn and others more clever than I:

You are all right. Dam wants the baby and he doesn't care whose DNA baby Michel is carrying. I really missed that.

I guess the theme here is 'real' parenthood. Duh, EJ. Hit me upside the head with a brick.

Sylvia:
I, too. love the scenes where Ester rants and Damian is still.

That Ursula is such a wee beastie Ursus. Grrr. We knew it from the beginning.

I cannot wait to see how the TN gods deal with Hernan the Demented. He now has the crazy laugh (a la Jack Nicholson) down pat. I have to wonder if he will fiddle in the middle of the cement water feature while his HOME burns.

Just pure speculation, mis amigos, never a spoiler here.

Maybe we will finally see the dining table vases shattered. One can hope, eh Carlos?

EJ

I like rainbow recaps more than actual episodes. Thank you Sylvia for the laugh. I adore your side notes.

Remember that job description?
The butler
Sighs in regret

Sex in handcuffs
When things are as bad as they seem
Vasectomy rules

Sylvia thanks for this great recap, funny title, and watching the double episodes. I wish someone from Uni would explain why they are cutting this to shreds though I'm happy to miss the bad guy/gal kinky sex.

And add me to the list about Uni being more discerning about what to cut; as you noted, too much Bea & Marina but to exclude Jaz/Lu chatting with Fully about his paternity.... as Diana said that tidbit is probably going to be very important.

Vivi/Mads - I'm glad others were thinking about the choice of words "verdadero madre" should be replaced with a reference to the bio-mom.

Pester is really making it easy to wish an medium sized anvil hither.

Variopinta...thanks for linking us to that fabulous video about cenotes. Loved the way the narrator pronounced it and the visuals were so stunning my hair stood on end.

Now, I blush to admit...yea blush I tell thee!... that, unlike the rest of you good folks, I would have liked to see that kinky scene with Hernán and Ursula. Sounds waaaaay more interesting than extended caterwauling by Bea, and inappropriate bio-mom bashing by Marina.

So color me guilty as charged and I'll mea culpa to my spiritual confessor shortly.

PS. My "type the text" this time is "hussary". Guess that means I'm a hussy. Even the computer knows!

EJ:

You are so right about Herny. He is certainly channeling Nero who fiddled while Rome burned!

Vita:

Thanks for the haiku! You are a genius with those ; )

Cap'n Sylvia - Great title and recap. The Castro Street ruffians and Ernesto’s “kathunk, kathunk” were my favorites. And "Mariana goes all Magdalena" too.

Agree that Marina's closed mind about her birth mother's plight is out of place. But Mercedes missed out on the terrible twos and she did kind of tell Bea a while back that it was *her* turn to be the mother. So Mercedes, good luck with not one, but two, surly daughters.

Bea is going out with grace, using all her fuerzas to put Marina in a right place. I like María Sorté. I’ll miss her, if this is the Big One.

I like Mercedes and Robles together too. Maybe Claudio with Delfina?

JudyB - "I would have liked to see that kinky scene with Hernán and Ursula." I'm right there with you. :D

I love the TN travelogues. I so want to go back to Mex for several wks. I like seeing them, trying to decide where to go. I have to find a place to equal Gunajuato, gorgeous.

Cap'n, I couldn't find the appropriate TN to post the cenote info, none are in Yucatan. I thought they were springs like we have in central FL , but maybe those happened during the same event.

Whew...Niecie..glad to know there's another one. If you want to join me at the confessional rail, give me a holler.

I know where I would like to pour that hot wax.

We need to plan Hernán's end. So far, being slashed to death with shards of terrarium doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Well this is the PERFECT place to post a link to cenotes. I believe they are springs of a sort.

You know, it's unfortunate that they cut out the "interlude" between Urusla and Hernan. I would love to psychoanalyze it. She was definitely dominant and Hernan allowed her to tantalize him with a blade near his nether regions, blindfold him and tie him up. This coming from a woman he has pushed and bullied when it suited him. So what's going on there? Does he like danger in sex? Does he believe he is still "in charge" and that she is just game-playing? Is this Ursula fulfilling her need to dominate? Is she warning him that nobody is really the boss of her? Or is it all just fun in the sack?

Variopinta, so maybe a sharp knife in Hernan's little treasure chest? After last night it's certainly plausible.

Vita, free drinks for you on the patio. Your poems ROCK! So funny.

JudyB:

I am right there, on my knees, next to you and Niecie. Sanchez and Saone looked like they got into those scenes. Of course you would have to. The actors are both very attractive as well. The way Herm squirmed when she dropped the wax onto his back looked pretty real.

In TN stories I like the sex (as long as it is consensual, appropriate, and the actors are not unappealing) NOT the violence. Yikes, my true stripes are showing.

Remember the fun (older) age appropriate love affair In Gancho? Those two actors were darling together.

I am now taking myself to the corner for a timeout.

EJ

I do not know about psychoanalyzing anyone but the writers (hee hee hee) but I would say that the authors of La Tempestad are showing us a sociopathic couple playing with power.

Hernan is in charge in the day, Ursula at night and so forth. I suspect they want us to be repulsed but fascinated and that we are seeing a foreshadowing of Hernan's demise. Ursula is so far gone to the bad that I could see her offing her beloved Hernan. That fine line between love and hate...and eventually she is going to get sick of Hernan's obsession with Marina. No love there, of course, just a desire to possess.

EJ

Madeline and Sylvia, thank you. Haikus are fun to write.

Elna June, you are right in that Herny should be afraid of Ursulled - she does not like to share what she wants to possess.

I found you at last
Beautiful man of my dreams
Back in your cage, now

Thanks EJ, way to take a hint. I was curious what your take might be on our dastardly duo.

Vita, there you go again! Funnier and funnier. You really get to the essence in just a few words. Buen hecho!

Yikes..lots of comments on the kinky scene. Yeah, it's all fun and kinky games until Variopinta gets her hands on the knife and hot wax. Watch out Herny.

I am all for some steamy scenes , but I would rather see the good guys enjoying themselves than the baddies.

Hmmm...Herny's demise..perhaps he will disappear into the sea...or maybe one of those gigantic terrariums will fall on him...or maybe Ursullied will get a little overexcited with that hot wax and turn him into a gigantic candle.

OOOh..OOOh...I am thinking Isadora Duncan. Herny's scarf gets caught in the wheels of his sports car . ..poetic justice for a fashion victim like Herny.

You hit another one out of the park, Sylvia! And special thanks for including the cut scenes.

Yes, "Please let it end." I was thinking the same thing. With just a little editing, Bea's revelation to Marina could have been very moving. Ah well.

So many lovely turns of phrase to delight in today: The Castro Street lookalikes, Lolo's delight in the fray, Marina going all Magdalena (which reminds me: EJ was right -- Marina is not safely out of her MORON phaase.)

Then there's Ernesto pacing kathunk kathunk, Mercedes and Robles and the handsome couple they make.

I am sorry to disappoint the BackRowBadGirls but I find Ursula quite uninteresting. I saw the bondage scenes and frankly, wished I hadn't.

I do, however, love that Iván Sánchez seems to have discovered his inner jamón and is giving his crazy all he's got. [It's been several episodes since we last saw the violin. We did hear some Beethoven a few days ago -- just in case anyone had forgotten that only villains love the classics.]

Yup, Katy, Triunfo part deux -- WL bonds with the babies, biological fatherhood be damned. (or is that Dammed?)

Oh and absolutely perfect title!
[By the way, I kept imagining the baby's voice too. Ha.]

Hey Variopinta, It's "Ser o no ser"

http://4umi.com/shakespeare/hamlet/es

Check out the above if you're curious about one poet's translation of the soliloquy into Spanish.

Thanks NM! Actually I had three titles I was tossing around last night. When I woke up this morning I couldn't remember which one I had used.

Interesting observation about the baddies liking the classics. Makes sens for Hernan since he is a classical (cough cough) violinist.

Susanlynn, you do have an imaginative and diabolical mind. Human candle? Strangled by his Euro-trash scarf? Those are both good. I like the second because it involves his beloved sportscar. I also like the idea of Ernesto surprising the heck out of him and somehow being part of his demise because Hernan is just so darn SMUG about being the boss man.

Now why can't they have Mar/DamFab sexier, hotter scenes? theirs seem so chaste in comparison to Urs/Herns. But no one kisses like DamFabKisser, that's fo' sho'!

and yes, NM. due to the lengthy Bea/Mar drama, I was not moved one bit. also, perhaps i'll never relate to that situation of not knowing one's biological parent/s.

An Isadora Duncan demise for Hernán?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isadora_Duncan

In case you didn't notice Laura Carmine's blue/brown eyes, they didn't give her a contact lens. It's very evident after the nanny says what a good mom she is, about 17:00 on Uvideos.

Sylvia...hmmm...I am liking the idea of Ernie being involved in Herny's anvil..Has anyone ever been impaled on a pegleg?

Shallowgirl..Yes, DamHotStuff's hot stuff is not being showcased enough. Also...order in the court...we need more Jose and Tia love scenes.

I don't want Herny to die. There are things scarier than death.

I want him to marry ShutupRosy.

Welcome to your personal hell Herny.

Susanlynn - "... not being showcased enough" .... lolz!!!
