Things I learned this week...when stuck in a loveless marriage, drink! CI Wed October 24.2013

Dear Caray mates, I have to apologize for this recap, as some of you know I've had issues with my internet connection at home. I have called my provider more than once and they were to send a tech weeks ago to fix the issue, but he never showed up. Yesterday evening my internet connection went "boom", I called Time Warner and they sent out a tech, who turned out to be the jerk of the week, he came in, looked at the equipment and declared "yeah, this is not my problem or something I can fix", he was so rude that we asked him to leave, which left me with no internet connection at all, so the best I can do for you today is bullet points, and hopefully I can finish before I have to see clients. My apologies!

  • Solita is still on her hunger strike, I suspect that if someone just brought her some In&Out she'd eat, cause no one can say "no" to In&Out.
  •   Maricruz goes to see Perico and begs him to at least go visit Solita, he agrees to but after speaking to Trashy Natasha he changes his mind and later sends Mari a note saying he wont be going back to the Rancho. Idiot. Skanky idiot.
  • Mari and Alvaro reunite and she asks him if he'd like to have lunch with her, he says yes and they go out to the local joint, somehow Miguel gets wind of this and then....
  • Miguel turns into a 13 year old girl that likes to gossip, he tells Simona and Octavio that Mari is now dating Alvaro and that it looks like they will get married and isn't that just like the BEST.NEWS.EVER?, way to ruin dinner dude.
  • Octavio is not a happy panda and although Simona and Miguel are just uber happy about the possibility of a Maricruz and Alvaro wedding Octavio looks like someone kicked him in the gut, he finally tells them to STFU and leaves the dinner table, then he runs off to search for MC.
  • Simona and GreedyMig discuss Maricruz, dang, this is what happens in small towns, there's nothing to do but gossip, and fall off horses and get painted by a skank with bad hair accessories, sorry, got distracted, anyhooo Simona wants to go along with Octavios idea of returning to Maricruz the money she paid for the Narvaez ranch, maybe then Mari would go away and take Lupita with her, because Simona worries that Lupita will take away Octavios love from her and her baby (I wanted to throw something at my television when she said this), Miguel tells her not to be stupid, Mari will leave soon enough, no need to buy her out. Simona does worry though, Octavio is not the same and have you seen how much he's been drinking? Yeah, if I were married to you I'd be drinking too and then I'd run into traffic just for fun, but that's just me.
  • Octavio finds Maricruz and Alvaro having lunch, or rather waiting for their food as they talk about Solita and her woes and he rudely interrupts the conversation and asks to speak to Mari, she excuses herself from the table and they go outside, there he tells her about his idea to return the money to her, she tells him to keep the money and to enjoy it, Octavio tells her he is worried that she will marry simply to get out of the financial hole she's in and she tells him that if she marries again it will only be because she fancies the man, she never married someone before for financial again and she is not about to start now.
  • Octavio tells her he worries about the kind of man she will marry, he does not want his child to be raised in an immoral household, Mari tells him that Lupita is her child and her problem and then she tells him to pretend he only has one kid, his child with Simona (who the heck writes this? Who?), she tells him she has to go back to Alvaro and excuses herself.
  • Once inside the restaurant Mari tells Alvaro that she will be going home, and then asks him where he is staying, he says the local motel and she is horrified to hera he is spending money out of his pocket to help her, she tells him that she will get a place ready for him at the ranch and that he can stay there. Yep, that's sure to make people talk.
  • At Rancho El Abuelo Jose Antonio gets an earful from Santa who tells him that Mari is out with Alvaro, who is a real man and who she will hopefully marry, this does not sit well with Jose Antonio, sucks to be you doesn't it Jackass?
  • Later Jose Antonio and Miguel meet up and Mig tells JA that Simona is going to die and that everyone at the Ranch is trying to keep her happy in her final days, and do you know what makes her very happy? People trash talking Maricruz, so feel free to do that.
  • Octavio made it back home and is having a drink (his poor liver!) when Miguel comes in and goes straight into 13 year old girl mode, he tells Octavio that Jose Antonio has confirmed that he and Mari had an affair! Yes, they were lovers! Octavio tells him to stop spreading lies and a heated argument gets going, it almost comes to blows (god, how I wish Octavio had punched the daylights out of Miguel) Miguel gets lucky because Simona arrives just in time to keep him from getting punched.
  • Simona sees them drinking and comments on this, Octavio is all like "yeah, I'm drinking again and what?", Miguel leaves and once he does Simona breaks awful news to Octavio, she wants to have more babies! *viewers everywhere run off in search of a bottle of tequila*
  • At Rancho El Abuelo Maricruz meets with her accountant who has not charged her any money for his work, yep, that's how bad things are, you know you've hit rock bottom when an accountant feels badly about taking money from you.
  • Back at Simonas ranch her nana comes in and announces that the priest is there to see her, Simona goes into major bitch mode and tells Octavio that he's probably there to beg for money, she does not like the him because he is part of team Maricruz and also he never even bothered to visit her when she was ill, Octavio tells her he probably had no clue that she was sick but he pays him no mind. The priest comes in and Simona was right, he's there to ask for supplies for the people that live near the river, winter is coming and they need blankets and other things, Simona agrees to help out and then tells him that she wants to baptize the baby, the priest says that's a wonderful idea and she says it will get done as soon as she finishes planning the party for the occasion, the priest tells her that a party is not needed in order to please the lord and she rolls her eyes at this. Octavio then interrupts and asks about the people living by the river, how bad is their situation? The dear padre tells him the situation is pretty bad and things don't look good for them. Simona then tells Octavio to stop worrying about those people, she wants to continue talking to the padre about her plans for the baby, Octavio is not pleased and says what viwereville has been saying for weeks "God Simona, can't you act like a human being?!"
And that's it for today folks!

Eli- Thanks for going above and beyond to get us a recap. Make sure to lable this. With no CI in the title, it's particularly hard to know what it is. But the lable will also help floks find it if they aren't on the main page. I think there was another recap earlier this week that wasn't labled. I'll go back and look.

Now, to read your recap...

Eli, there was no problem with the recap: you covered it all. Thanks. I especially liked "sucks to be you Jack Ass."

Miguel and JA are so dangerous together that I do believe they are going to poison one cell Octavio( I do not remember who came up with that name for Octavio but it is/was right on and I give you credit whoever you may be) against Maricruz with that "tale" of JA having had an affair with her and anything else they can come up with that might impune her character. The old double standard is working here and it makes me sick. Btw, wasn't Miguel supposed to be brought up on charges re: the murder of Eusebio like months ago??? I am also so tired of hearing about Solita: she'll eat when she is hungry enough or not. Her long lost mother should rescue her by then. The best thing of the episode was Perico cutting out and not coming back.

Jarifa

OK. Just read it. Eli- The recap is perfect. No need for more detail.

I almost threw something at the tv when Tav went back to his stupid argument about taking his daughter if Mari has her in an immoral environment. Seriously! I thought the writers moved past this 50 episodes ago. So ridiculous.

Mari should marry Engineer Moustache. She can actually have a real adult conversation with him with no game playing, no pouting, no vengeance talk, basically, no stupidity.

Is Simona on major drugs? How is she not having the major headaches and blindness she was having before her diagnosis? Why don't the writers kill her already?

And what is Miguel trying to do? I don't get it?

@Eli - excellent bullet points. Just as informative and funny.

@Vivi - this is why a few weeks ago I mentioned the difference between mere "custody" and "termination of parental rights", because I knew this was coming. Oblivious conveniently forgot that he agreed to termination of his parental rights, not merely to give up custody of Lupita. But what does he care? Idiots make up their own law, and so do the stupid monkey writers.

Vivi, all Miguel cares about is Octavio letting him in on the inheritance and ranch when Simona kicks the bucket and must be worried that Maricruz could benefit from that inheritance and not him if she and Octavio are getting along. Then there would not be so much for him. He has turned into one gigantor lazy leech.

Jarifa

I think Miguel is scared that Octavio will go back to Maricruz and that Simona will not leave him the money when she dies, so he's trying to keep Octavio and Maricruz apart.

Eli:

This recap is marvelous perfection. You got absolutely everything!

I had to laugh at Tav's face when $imona asked him if he wanted more kids, it was priceless!

Perico turned into such a jerk. I bet Trashy Nat dumps him for someone more her style.

$imona is on my last nerve too. She used to be so caring, I guess this brain tumor she has is pressing down on her good side.

As far as JackAss and Mig, where is that cattle stampede??? They are long overdue!

Thanks Eli, sometimes bullet points are all that one can take. I'm sorry to say that I'm counting the recaps I have left to do until this ends.

MC invites Alvaro to stay for lunch, saying she would inform Santa to set another place, then they are next going out to lunch. No inconsistency problem there. Nope.

Miguel says MS is going to be poor because of her venganza, but it's really because she was robbed blind by JA and wouldn't listen to anyone who told her he was stealing from her. He also claims that Simona is dying from the fall, but that's not true either, falling from a horse doesn't cause brain tumors.

So the accountant knows that JA is stealing from her and has tried to talk to her but she wouldn't listen. Now he wants to loan her money. Now even the accountant has one brain cell.

Thanks SOOOOO much Eli. The company that I used to work for was always having trouble with Time
Warner. Still---you did a FABLOUS job. --- Bring her some In&Out, so funny but true. Yes, I think that she would go for an In&Out lunch.
If I was married to $imona, I'd be drinking too.-Yes, Yes and Yes.
A heated argument almost comes to blows.-I've been surprised that Octavio hasn't put Miguel's lights
out before now. Miguel has sure been pushing him lately.

Adriana Noel---Yesterday you said
"and we'll be here until the bitter end." I for one hope that it's not a bitter end but a happy one. Maybe a big party with our FINALLY re-married couple with Tobias, the poor people that Mari helped, the people from Isla Dorada and anyone that I may have missed. I don't think that Shut Up Doris would want to come though.

And speaking of the "happy ending," I will be crushed if Maricruz looses her beautiful Rancho el Abuelo. It looks like it's going to happen though. Will Maricruz go full circle, from poor to rich and back to poor? Could be

The bad guys---It just amazes me how the bad guys get away with their bad deeds. I mean, Miguel gets away with murder of an unarmed man {yes Carlos, I know he was a vile man] with just a couple of character witnesses. JA steals half of Mari's money and is all the better for it. I mean, if Mari can't believe that JA would steal from her, why doesn't the accountant turn JA into the police himself? The only bad guy that's paid the price so far is EWWseibo.
Why can't Miguel and Jack Ass get in front of some stampeding cattle?
the gringo

Madelaine---Natrasha probably will dump Perico and it will serve him right.
the gringo

Eli thanks for this recap and sorry for all the distress you had to go through to get it done.

Though the writers have been bad and I really can't be shocked at this, I am mad that Solita seems to be attracted to or being attacked by men who are wretched. I hope her mom comes soon.

Eli...I love bullet points. But I hate rude, contemptuous cable/computer folks. I hope you called the company to report this unprofessional behavior.

"Simona and GreedyMig discuss Maricruz, dang, this is what happens in small towns, there's nothing to do but gossip, and fall off horses and get painted by a skank with bad hair accessories, sorry, got distracted..."

Now see...that is just so funny, and you managed that bit of cleverness (and many more)in a state of extreme cable/computer stress. Well done!

And I suggest all CI recappers switch to Bullet Points and CliffNotes recaps. 'Cause this telenovela is so PAINFUL.

Now Gringo, we still totally agree with you...Maricruz is beautiful and righteous and Rancho Abuelo is gorgeous and we hope she gets to keep it. And to live happily ever after as well.
But honey, the show sucks.

JudyB, lol.

Judy, I almost fell off my chair laughing at this:

"Now Gringo, we still totally agree with you...Maricruz is beautiful and righteous and Rancho Abuelo is gorgeous and we hope she gets to keep it. And to live happily ever after as well.
But honey, the show sucks."

Carlos

cathyx,

"I'm sorry to say that I'm counting the recaps I have left to do until this ends."

As much as I enjoy recapping (and up until now I thought it was a case of the worse... the better for recapping, but now I realize that there is a threshold that shouldn't be crossed...), I'm now doing the very same thing. I'm finding myself praying for Friday soccer or Friday awards shows.

Well, live and learn. I'll never be seduced by a monkey again.

Judy speaks for me.

Carlos

So I did some counting on the calendar, and if we don't miss any days, this should end on Dec. 27th. But I'm sure that we will have some days missing, especially with the holidays coming, then that brings us probably to the new year before this is done.

thanks, Eli. I can hardly stand looking at most of these people. Even saintly Santa has become dim and clueless. I cannot tolerate Jackass , Migreedy (good name , but I also like to think of him as LazyAss), and $imeany.

I cannot believe how the writers led us down the garden path with Parakeet. Solita deserved a good guy, and Parakeet seemed to fit the bill...but ....no...another loser.

I need some good souls to lighten this downer of a show.

Carlos you have me LOl'ing with "I'll never be seduced by another monkey again"!

My sister watched this with me last night and said 'Televisa does realize that people with brains watch this right?", I can't stand any of the characters, Octavio was dead to me months ago and right now the only characters that I like are Solita and Alvaro.

Gringo, I think Ana Brenda is the only thing that's saving this mess of a novela, if it were an actress with less charisma we might all be gone by now.

Eli, I'm not sure I even like Solita anymore. Her refusing to eat is dumb. It may be that Alvaro, the no name children and the accountant are the only likable characters left.

p.s. When I typed likeable, I get a spellcheck underline, but I don't with likable. So I looked it up and both are acceptable.

Cathy, that's pretty darn sad because this could have been a good novela but they killed it with all the venganza talk and giving us a galan that was just one can short of a six pack. Sigh. Whatever happened to Octavios BFF? At least he was nice to look at.

For those of you who are watching this TN and Mentir Para Vivir, imagine any of these characters being in MPV. It makes me laugh thinking how the characters of MPV would react to anyone of the characters in this one if they showed up at Paloma's house.

Cathy, I have not been following Mentir, is it any good?

Eli, I'm sorry you had cable problems and a rude tech guy, but you turned it into gold. Loved your recap.

Cathy, I'm also guilty of counting down the recaps until the finish line. I've even marked a calendar.

Judy B, you are so correct: "Maricruz is beautiful and righteous and Rancho Abuelo is gorgeous and we hope she gets to keep it. And to live happily ever after as well.
But honey, the show sucks."

Eli, I agree with you: "I think Ana Brenda is the only thing that's saving this mess of a novela, if it were an actress with less charisma we might all be gone by now."

So, almost time for another lovely episode. I wish MC had drowned Perico and Trasha in the river.

Eli, it is really good. It's not too far into it, you should watch and/or read it to catch up.

Ana Brenda is really the only reason we're watching this drivel. Well, Daniel too. But even for Ana Brenda half the time she sounds like she's doing a PSA.I guess the directors prefer the exact same delivery no matter what the lines or situation. [Many of us know these actors from other novellas, so we know their potential.]

They're obviously just filling time with every possible piddly thing that could happen at the ranches. Yes, the plot is advancing, but so slowly compared to the galloping pace we started with.

Thanks, Eli - I also really liked the bullets. The show is super repetitive at the moment - conversations are repeated ad nauseum. So summarizing is great.

I really really hated yesterday's orange dress. The hemline is just getting worse and worse.

Cathy, I might just do that this weekend.

Thank you all for your kind words, all I want is an internet connection that works, lord knows I pay time Warner enough!

We've been watching some of the first episodes of MPV on Hulu+, and yes it looks like a cut way above the recent offerings. I expect we'll watch it at our own pace. It's nice not having to watch late at night if you're willing to wait a day.

*raising my hand to show I am one of the recappers counting down how many episodes I have left to recap*

Judy- Amen!

Mentir Para Vivir is a prime example that quality of show and script does NOT equate number of comments generated.

Count me as one who has abandoned this for MPV. Only so much time in the day and if it must be filled with novelas (and it must), they should be good. Or at least less sucky.

But Santa sure looked good in white, didn't she? The plug the nose trick was totally inappropriate on an adult, but she looked good.

But I almost lost my computer monitor (from throwing something at it) when Octavio said she might marry the engineer because women with children do desperate things. What they do is GET JOBS! She has experience running a casino; surely she could get something else in HRM without having to resort to immoral whatever that he's thinking of.

Back to Telemundo for me! (And MPV online, because Sonora and Rosy Ocampo). But kudos to the recappers who are sticking this out. We owe you a tequila.

Kelly

Even Solita is working my last nerve. She looks more like a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum than a lovestruck young lady. Come on, writers, really? That pouty, grimacing face as she shakes her head at Santa trying to feed her? And Santa, really? Holding Solita's nose to try and force-feed her? If this is what they had in mind for her, they should've left her in the city with Tobias. So MC sold the house ... so what? She would even be better off with Serafina (?? was that her name??) in the pension where they first arrived. Her mother could've found her there just as well.

I think the writers write their plot ideas on little post-its, then put them all in a bag. Each day, they walk in, reach in the bag and grab a couple of ideas, then trot off to their little corners to write scenes for the next episode. At the end of the day a temp picks them all up, types them up in random order and ... voila! the capitulo is done!

Yep - anonymous, I think you have the CI plot creation technique pegged.

I confess I am also counting the recaps I have left to do. I watched the whole thing already and I have no interest whatsoever in rewatching any remaining episodes. But I'm sticking to my commitment to do a recap every two weeks until the bitter end. I will try to follow the bullet point format, though "concise" is not exactly my forte.

This novela should have ended around episode #100 - until then I still found it entertaining despite its flaws. But since then it has been pure torture. As soon as I saw the finale on the Mexico broadcast I proceeded to delete C.I. from my DVR programming. I hope saying that is not considered a spoiler at this point, since more than one person has mentioned already how it only gets worse and worse.

Eli thanks.
I got to this episode late today because I was busy. Anyhoo, here's my two cents.
It was always in my mind that Simona is an evil woman. I for one don't think it was her tumor. She is just downright evil selfish greedy shrewd woman.
