Lo Que La Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 65. 02/10/14.

Joaquin spills the frijoles on JL's whereabouts.  His poor baby girl is dying and once she passes JL will inherit a grand fortune.  JL and Montse will then be able to enjoy all that money.  Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586 and concludes that this is the reason Montse sent him the divorce papers.  Joaquin informs Ale that the law is no longer looking for JL.  Angelica's godmother is the sister of the Captain of the marina and she was able to get all the charges cleared.  JL was re-instated in the marina.

JL finds out from Angelica that Montse and Ale are no longer together.  Once Ale found out about him, he threw her out.  He no longer wants anything to do with her.  JL calls Ale an idiot.  He can't believe that Montse lied to him.  What do you mean she lied to you questions Angelica.  JL says Montse lied that Ale found out about him and said that he forgave her.  Angelica wonders when he spoke with Montse.  Months ago before we got married lies JL.  JL keeps going on and on about Ale's behavior.  He asks if Ale is going to recognize his own son.  Angelica says Montse doubts he will.  JL walks away and mutters to himself if he only knew this all before.  Angelica, one of the smart ones in the bunch, finishes JL's thoughts and says you would have married her and taken care of her and her son.  JL apologizes.  You have no idea how much it hurts me to know that Montse is suffering.  Why did she marry him?  You still love her a lot replies Angelica.  Perhaps it's best not to answer that.  I don't want you to lie.  Anyways I have always known you love her.  I'm just grateful that you married me in spite of the love you have for her.  JL says what he feels for her is different, but just as intense.

Montse if putting little Lauro down for his nap.  Tia Carlotta comes in and says that she and her mother wonder what is the deal with Ale?  He found out 10 days ago that the baby was born and has not made an appearance.  What are people going to say? (Who cares?  Tell them to mind their own business) They need to baptize the baby soon.  What name will the baby have?  Montse says her baby will be named Lauro Mendoza.  Carlotta thinks Graceless has a point and he is doing this to her for revenge.  If he won't sign the divorce papers then he should at least come here and acknowledge his child.  Carlotta keeps going on about what other people are going to say about her.  Montse says she is the one that no longer wants to live with Ale.  It is she that no longer wants to know anything about him.  Because God knows that I never cheated on him with JL.  Whereas Ale is the one with an amante.  Carlotta advises her to put her pride aside for the sake of the child and the memory of your father.  Montse says she doesn't want to hear it anymore.  If Ale wants to find out if the baby is his, then he can come and take a DNA test.  And when he finds out that the baby is really his?  Then he will have to beg me for forgiveness on his knees.   So that I can have the pleasure of sending him to hell.  He has lost me forever.  I am the one that will not forgive Ale.

Padre Anselmo says what Ale is telling him is pure speculation.  Joaquin only came to make you angry.  There is no way to prove any of it is true.  Ale can't believe that Padre is still defending Montse.  Padre tells Ale that just because JL is living in Aguazul doesn't mean anything.  Hardheaded and blind Ale says now he understands the game Montse and JL were playing.  That man made it his mission to romance Joaquin's daughter.  Do you think that's right?  She is dying.  Padre says he doesn't know why JL married her, but knows that Montse was not in cahoots with him.  Ale is deaf and can't hear the common sense Padre is talking.  He keeps arguing that Montse and JL are in cahoots.  Padre thinks there is another explanation but Ale ain't listening.  Because he is right.  Always right.  Then Ale has the nerve to say that Montse has not once come back to the hacienda.  (Umm, love butt.  Didn't you THROW her out?  Why would she come back?)  He thinks that the reason she won't come back is because she has her lover with in Aquazul.  Padre gets frustrated and says he can't think that way.  Of course I can replies Ale.  I am the mighty Ale.  I know everything and am smarter than the average bear.  Padre says Montse called you to tell you about the baby's birth, but Ale says it was her mother that did it.  That woman only wants me to recognize the child and bleed me dry.  The Mendoza women are capable of anything.  They even sell themselves like Montse did.  Ale asks Padre to leave.  He wants to be alone.  Padre agrees and says he's going to the church to pray for his salvation and soul.  Ale yells out for Macario and Maria.  He wants Macario to get his truck ready and for Maria to pack his bags.  He's going to Aguazul to get what JL owes him.  Macario tries to talk sense into Ale and follows him into the study.  Ale says he will confront JL and neither he nor his army are going to stop him.  I am going to kill him like the dog that he is.  Ale looks for his gun and asks Macario where it’s at.  Macario lies and says he doesn't know.  Maria comes in and tells Macario to quit lying.  She tells Ale that Macario hid it a while ago.  Ale orders Macario to return it.  Macario says he will not!  Ale gets a set of keys and opens the cabinet holding several more firearms and bullets.  He pulls one out and tells Macario and Maria to hurry up and do what he asked them to do.  Maria says she's also packing a bag.  and coming with him to Aguazul.

Graceless tells Dim that they have reached the end.  If you can't convince Josefina to take care of us, then what are we going to do?  Dim says he can't.  Her brother is the one that manages the money.  Graceless says if she wanted to, she can take back managing her own money.  That's right replies Dim.  If she wanted to, but she doesn't.  Graceless can't believe how stupid he's being.  Why can't you convince her?  She's your woman replies Graceless.  She appears to be in love with you.  Dim just laughs in her face.  Graceless thinks he should make a baby with Josefina, but he laughs some more.  Graceless says she was hoping that Ale would come and recognize his child, but it's been 10 days and he hasn't.  Dim advises her to seek out a loan, but Graceless shoots that down.  What would people think if I did that?  Especially if both you and your sister are married to someone with lots of money.  Dim again says he can't do anything.  Graceless advises him to beg Josefina, plead with her, but do something.  Dim rudely says he doesn't have his mom's talent.  She finger pokes him and tells him to apologize.  He tells her not to touch him and she says she will not allow him to disrespect her again.

Josefina is at the boardwalk looking lonely and sad when Adolfo shows up with a rose.  He says if he knew the gesture would make her so happy, he would have brought a dozen.  He says he's been trying to get a hold of her for days, but she's not answering his calls or accepting his visits.  Josefina says the reason I don't allow you in my home is because you come when my husband is not there.  It's not right especially since Dim is your friend.  That's exactly why I do it replies Adolfo.  I know that my friend is not doing right by you.  You guys are going through a difficult time.  Josefina replies that she's suffering knowing that Dim doesn't love her and he is just mad that he can't get any money from her.  Adolfo says he knows Dim feels something for her.  He just doesn't dare tell you.  If that was only true says Josefina.  Adolfo insists he knows what he's doing as he slides closer to her and moves her hair out of her face.  If you will only take my advice.  Josefina says she's been thinking about what he told her but doesn't think it will work.  Adolfo smells her hair while she talks.  Josefina says it's hard for her to lie.  Adolfo says she doesn't have to lie.  He caresses her face and says perhaps they can make all this real.  Josefina doesn't understand and Adolfo lays one on her.  She's shocked beyond words.  Adolfo says that she can now say that a man kissed her with passion and she wouldn't be lying.

Esme catches all this and EZ wants to know what she's looking at.  That lady married that insufferable Dim.  And now she's kissing his best friend.  EZ laughs and says these days no one has any morals or respect.  This is what I want to defend when I become the mayor of this town.  Esme asks if Pedro would give him his support.  He will have to renounce his position when he runs for Governor.  He knows I have ambitions.  And he's happy with my work.  Esme thinks once he becomes the mayor of Aguazul, he wouldn't want to talk to her anymore.  EZ says he has no shame when it comes to what she does to make a living.  Has anyone bothered you since Refugio is no longer protecting you?  No replies Esme.  That's because I have started to take care of you, in exchange for nothing replies EZ.  I am alright as long as I have your friendship and you agree to go out with me every once in a while.  I really like you and you make me feel like I'm not alone.  Esme says she feels the same way.  EZ says he has plans for the future and they include her by his side.

Angelica and JL are having dinner and she asks if he wants to go with her to visit Montse tomorrow.  No replies JL.  Angelica thinks that Montse would really enjoy seeing him.  Don't you want to meet her baby?  He tells her she can visit as much as she wants, but not to ask him to go.  What if she asked you replies Angelica.  Even then says JL.  Angelica doesn't understand his attitude.  If she wasn't around, he would be running to her side.  JL wants to end the conversation, but she tells him that he doesn't have to wait until she dies for him to follow his heart.  JL's appetite has gone and he doesn't want to keep talking about this and leaves the table.

Ale, Maria and Macario show up at Victor's.  He's happy that Ale has realized that he needed to come and meet his child.  Macario and Maria leave to put the luggage away and Ale tells Victor he didn't come to meet his child.  JL is living in town.  Joaquin told me that he married his daughter and found a way for the law to drop all charges.  He's now back at the marina and is a lieutenant.  Victor says he's seen Angelica around town alone.  I had no idea she married JL.  I thought that he and Montse were still communicating and I wasn't wrong replies the all-knowing Ale.  She and JL planned everything.  Planned what asks Victor.  The wedding with that girl, living here replies Ale.  All those months traveling and staying at the hacienda, they have been seeing each other.  They have been deceiving Angelica.  Victor thinks that perhaps Ale is wrong.  Ale points out that Victor and Padre Anselmo are the ones in the wrong.  All this defending that you two did are for nothing.  They have always been in cahoots.  But all this is coming to an end.  JL is going to pay for all this pain he caused.

Angelica bears gifts for the little one when she pays a visit to Montse.  She asks straight up if Montse would like to JL to visit.  Montse doesn't think it's a good idea.  Her family knows him and especially everything that has happened.  So they blame him for what happened with you and Ale replies Angelica.  JL is not the only one at fault here.  If he came looking for me, it's because I gave him a reason replies Montse.  I tried to leave with him several times.  Montse apologizes for speaking to her about these things since she is JL's wife.  Angelica tells her not to apologize.  She's glad they can talk about this.  You don't love JL anymore do you asks Angelica.  No answers Montse.  Then I'm glad you said that says Angelica.  It means you will think seriously about what I am going to ask you.  I would like JL and me to be the godparents to your child.  (Wait til Ale finds out!).  Montse says she can't.  If Ale finds out, he will think something else.  But he's not here replies Angelica.  And there's nothing wrong with this.  JL is married to me and you stopped loving him.  Angelica says she knows they are suffering financially and all she and JL want to do is help her.  If I am the godmother then I can help you until things get better.  Montse says she's grateful that she wants to help, but once her baby gets bigger she will find a job.  She wants to get ahead on her own.  Angelica tries to change her mind and finally tells Montse to think it over.

Montse walks in the house and Graceless is behind the door pulling a Maria. (Listening in on conversations that are none of her business).  Graceless wants to know if Montse is going to accept Angelica's proposal.  Of course not replies Montse.  I promised it to Josefina.  She and Dim are going to be the godparents.  Graceless tells her to re-think it.  They are in no position to refuse any help.  Angelica doesn't have enough time or life to spend all that money.  And after all that JL put you through the least he can do is send you a monthly stipend to take care of us all.  Montse can't believe what she's hearing.  JL will never accept it.  Graceless thinks that JL will do anything to be by her side.  He has  his woman in check.  If he married her for her money, then it's really none of our business.  Montse tells her to be quiet and tries walking away, but Graceless follows.  She blames JL for everything that is happening to them.  Montse mans up and says she is the one at fault here for giving JL motives for believing she wanted to be with him.  Graceless says JL knew better than to force a married woman to leave her husband.  I only think its right for him to repair the damage he caused.  We are all at fault here replies Montse.  You for selling me, Ale for buying me and me for allowing it all.  Graceless agrees but the one paying for all this is that little innocent baby upstairs.  Do it for him.  This is no longer about your family but about him.  Think about it pleads Graceless.

Ale comes calling to JL and Angelica's house.  Angelica opens the door and Ale says he’s here to see JL.

Angelica says he's not home.  Ale decides to look for him at the marina.  Angelica quickly says he's not there either.  He left to go on a mission and won't be back for a few days.  What do you want from him asks Angelica.  Ale just says that JL knows.  Angelica says JL is her husband.  I know replies Ale.  Your father told me.  JL is just using you.  She says she does not have any doubts regarding her husband.  Ale tries to poison her mind.  He tells her that Montse and JL are only waiting for her to die to keep her money.  That's all a lie replies Angelica.  Ale begs her to open her eyes.  Angelica says she knows he thinks they were deceiving him while JL was working for him.  But you’re wrong.  JL and Montse were never lovers.  Ale doesn't believe her and knows that the child Montse had is JL's.

Macario is waiting outside for Ale.  Ale comes up and says he didn't find JL.  Angelica says he went out of town for a couple days but he doesn't believe her.  Keep vigilant and let me know when he shows up.  Macario agrees.

Looks like JL is surveying some guys who are walking down the street with lots of money in their hands.  They start fighting over the money and 2 other guys walk up to them and badass JL and crew walk up to them and tell them to get down.  They are under arrest.  JL calls Refugio who has gone missing.  Refugio busts in on some drug and arms dealings alone.  A bad guy points a gun at Refugio but JL quickly takes him down.  He tells the bad men that the dirty business has ended.  He looks to Refugio and with this eyes scolds him.

At Pedro's office, Joaquin comes for a visit with a suitcase full of money.  He tells Pedro that the people in Monterrey will no longer be paying late anymore.  He can assure him.  Pedro likes the way Joaquin fixes problems.  Joaquin also says that he was able to talk to Ale and poisoned him enough where he will be seeking out JL.  Pedro tells EZ to make sure when everything goes down, Ale is arrested for capital murder.

Back from break and I think something was cut out because suddenly Pedro is asking for something.  EZ says Pedro can depend on him.  Pedro says he realizes that he is more efficient then Lazaro.  It's time for him to be in charge of more things in the business that he has with Joaquin.  EZ eagerly accepts.  Pedro promises that he will be making a lot of money.  More money than he has ever seen in his life.  Pedro gives him some money which makes EZ super happy.  Pedro says he will be having some people over today to kick start his governorship bid.  EZ congratulates him and says he hopes that Pedro would support him when he runs for mayor.  Pedro rains on EZ's parade and says he doesn't have enough knowledge to occupy his chair.  EZ is nothing.  He advises EZ to quit dreaming up fantasies.  Accept to stay the way you are.  As chief of police.  That is the only thing that you can aspire to do.  Pedro leaves with his suitcase full of money.

Baby Lazaro and mama Montse are sleeping in her bed.  Rosario comes in to tell her that Angelica wants to speak with her.  She seems very agitated.

Montse asks Angelica what's going on.  She tells Montse that Ale is in town looking for JL.  Luckily he's out of town.  When I asked Ale what he wanted with my husband, he said JL knew.  Was he armed asks Montse.  I don't know replies Angelica.  She says they can't allow him to hurt JL.  She thinks Montse needs to stop this.  Montse tells Angelica she doesn't know how, but she will do her best so that Ale doesn't go after JL.  Angelica fears that if they come across each other, one will end up dead.  You can't image the look of pure hate coming from Ale.  Angelica says Ale thinks that JL is the father of her baby.  Is it true?  Of course not replies Montse.  Angelica also says that Ale told her that Montse and JL are waiting for her to die to be together.  Montse can't believe that Ale would say something so cruel and denies it.   Angelica says you told me that you stopped loving JL.  Were you lying to me?  Montse says that she will always care for JL and remember his as her first love.  But that doesn't mean she still loves him.

JL and Refugio return to the hotel.  JL says they are leaving to go back to Aguazul tomorrow.  He doesn't like leaving Angelica alone for too long.  Refugio asks the million dollar question.  Do you want to return to town to see your wife or Montse?  JL reminds his buddy that since his return, he has not seeked out Montse.  You can't fool me replies Refugio.  I know you are dying to see her again. JL changes the subject and asks Refugio to explain to him why you disobeyed the rules of the operation.  What were you thinking when you entered the warehouse by yourself?  You didn't just put in danger the operation but your life.  What is going on with you?  I'm not right replies Refugio.  Esme and I broke up.  I am desperate.  I lost Esme for being an idiot.

At the strip club, Esme is putting on a show.  She walks off stage and goes to her dressing room.  EZ is waiting for her.  He brings her some jewelry and tries to steal a kiss.  She says no and pushes him off.  Esme asks him what's wrong?  Those type of things don't impress me.  He tries again to kiss her and she shoves him away.  She says she doesn't want his gift and for him to leave.

Ale keeps going on and on about seeking revenge for all JL did to him.  Doorbell rings and its Montse wishing to speak to Ale.

Manana: JL and Ale meet.

Gloria, thank you so much for the fantastic recap.

Ale just keeps digging his hole deeper and deeper. I was sorry Angelica had to suffer because of his bull headed wrong thinking. Can't wait for his comeuppance and long long road to redemption. It is getting hard to watch him in his current hateful state.

Esme should have taken Pedro's beating as the message it was intended to be and left town for good.

Jarifa

Good Morning Gloria:

Fabulous, detailed recap! Thank you so much for this splendid recap.

Can Ale get any worse? I couldn't stand it when he came to JL's and Angie's and was so cruel to Angie! He knows she's dying and still he spews his crap! He has no heart and is losing his soul. He has no heart! I agree with Monse, she shouldn't forgive him.

Yay! Monse wants to make her way in the world. I wonder what she will do once Laurito is old enough? She is thinking ahead.

Poor Angie. I am glad that Angie and Monse had the frank talks. It cleared the air. I am glad that JL is staying away from Monse and that he is taking great care of Angie. I'm just hoping this mess doesn't cause the downward slope in Angie's illness.

Was there a smidge of feeling from Addled when he kissed Fina? It sure seemed that way! He looked gob smacked after that kiss and so did Fina.

The money must be running out if Graceless is pushing Dimwit to reconcile.

I am glad that Monse stood up to Graceless and called it like it was. I do hope Monse gets that DNA test. I want him to see with his own eyes exactly how he's been hoodwinked. I want him to beg on his knees as Monse wants. He needs a good comeuppance for all the agony he has put Monse and Laurito through. What a jerk!

"Months ago before we got married lies JL."

Actually, that's not a lie. It was months ago, and right before he and Angie got married.

Back to the recap.

Gloria, you hit every high and low note perfectly. I so look forward to your excellent, detailed laden recaps - always pure pleasure. This was no exception.

Your usual wry wit was on full display and some of my favorites were: “Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586” and “Ale is deaf and can't hear the common sense Padre is talking”.

Jarifa and Madelaine, we are all on the same page with Ale. His behavior hasn't been reprehensible enough, but now he has wounded the gentlest bird of all, Angelica. How emotionally raw was “she tells him he doesn’t have to wait until she dies for him to follow his heart”? And Ale exacerabated her thoughts by injecting his venom deep into her soul. I cannot forgive Ale for this cruelty.

Gloria, "We are all at fault here replies Montse. You for selling me, Ale for buying me and me for allowing it all". Yes. However, some more responsible than others. Ale, I am directing my disdainful scornful glance directly at you.

Gracie is feverishly begging and plotting to jump start cash flow by whatever means necessary. She certainly has her work cut out for her there!

Jarifa, Esme is a smart girl and her associating with EZ is cringeworthy. Both he and Pedro are capable of violence. She had best be wary.

Madelaine, yes, I sensed a Fina/Addled connection too! Passion is new to Fina and although Addled is rather unkempt, he is rather handsome so I am sure that was some kiss.

Gloria, thank you again. Another sensational job.

Diana

Gloria: Thanks for the detailed recap.

Jarifa: Right. What does Esme see in that place. Anyone with any sense would have moved out after being beaten for no good reason.

It was almost comical seeing Gracie so desperate with Dimi responding in his usual nitwit way. Adolfo really has no scruples whatsoever. He's moving in on Dimi and will probably tell his he's doing him (Dimi) a favor.

Good work, Gloria.

We all need to be patient; this dark emotional journey of Alejandro's is going to take longer yet. The DNA test will show that Laurito is his son, but that is not proof that Monserrat never cheated on him. There is no physical proof of that and too much circumstantial evidence of the possibility that she did.

Graceless has some cojones thinking that she is in any way worthy of respect. One could make the argument that she is entitled to something like it from Dimwit because she has enabled him all this time, but I'm not buying that. She deserves to know she isn't as smart as she thinks she is. I love when he told her not to touch him.

He's not yet on any road to redemption. The only thing that could point him that way would be if he actually got a job and helped support Monserrat and Laurito.

Special mention on Graceless: It was particularly galling that she feels entitled to Angelica's inheritance when she was the one who engineered JL's arrest and the near-ruination of his life.

I've said this many times about past villains, but I'll say it again here: If she could bottle her chutzpah she'd make a million overnight.

Excellent recap, Gloria. I don't know how you restrained yourself when writing about the crap coming out of Ale's mouth.

Urban, you are absolutely right. The DNA test will prove nothing. Only two people know Monse and JL didn't have an affair-- Monse and JL. If Ale wants Monse back, he's going to have to have faith in her. My question is, can a man ever have faith in a woman whom he believes is EVIL enough to plot the duping and fleecing of a sweet girl with cancer? Yes, evil. That is what he believes of Monse. Not only does he believe she's a liar, a cheater, a slut, greedy, and a fraud, he believes she is evil. I would NEVER go back to a man who thought so little of me.

UA and Vivi: You've both said it out loud. How on earth can the broken bridge between Montsy and Ale ever be repaired? No way I'd ever go back to him. Ever.

Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586 and concludes that this is the reason Montse sent him the divorce papers.

What a great line! Way to show Ale's delusional thinking in a humorous way!

Now back to read more of the recap.

Thank you so much, Gloria! Loved the math. :))

For me, there is nothing at this point that the writers could do to make the presumed and much anticipated reunion between Montserrat and Alejandro believable.

The words that have been spoken and the way that Alejandro thinks about Montserrat are beyond the pale.

I am really curious as to how the writers are going to make this "loving" reunion happen.

Fatima

Always love your straightforward reactions....

"hard-headed and blind"

"(umm, love butt. Didn't you THROW her out?..."

"pulling a Maria"

You made the re-telling of what was clearly a miserable episode lots of fun. I'll watch this later today for my daily dose of español, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. Jeeeesh!

My guess is that he will have to save her or the baby's life -- from Maria's next attempt on them.

Thanks, Gloris, for that detailed recap of an episode that was joyless.

Ay...hardly anyone is getting lucky except maybe Jl and Angie. I can barely stand to watch Ale acting stupid.

Disgraceful is delusional . Has she ever thought of putting all the energy she uses trying to get other people's money into earning some money by getting a job ? Also, does she have a full length mirror? I guess that we are a certain age , but in our minds we think of ourselves as a different age. disgraceful evidently thinks that she is a teenager.,,,that messy hairdo..those shoes.

At least Malria kept a pretty low profile in this episode, but everyone is starting to bore me.

Women like Graceless have two problems:

1. They think they're too good to work
2. They're scared witless that others will see their inadequacies and either laugh behind their backs or call them out on them.

Why else do you think she has no friends?

Thanks for another excellent recap, Gloria... well done.

UA,

"He's not yet on any road to redemption. The only thing that could point him that way would be if he actually got a job and helped support Monserrat and Laurito."

While I agree that would be a nice positive thing, I think it's more important that he focus his efforts on his own new family and devote his energies toward making his marriage to Fina work. spending less quality time with Ginnie would be a good start.

Montserrat has a husband and should look to him for support of her and Laurito. She needs to stop playing the martyr, get a DNA test for Laurito, get a good ruthless lawyer, and go after Alejandro. Defending himself and his property against a vengeful spouse might just help shake him out of his blue funk.

Carlos

Agree with Carlos.

Fatima

Josie cannot have a makeover until someone truely loves her for herself.
Mary Kat

Hola amigas/os,

So happy to be posting in my home (I've been w/o power since late last Tuesday night).

Thanks so much for this recap Gloria. I enjoyed how you kept noting Ale's foolishness throughout.

Diana, yes Ale's horrible and then he tries to verbally kill another person in ill health. Thankfully the writers didn't have her relapse on the spot.

Fatima, ITA that seeing how the writers bring Ale and Monse back together will be interesting but like Vivi, I would NEVER return to him. As EJ said some time ago, he's boring. And his rage makes him think spewing hate is his right. At least true villains give us variety.

Jarifa/Pasofino, Esme is bright in all the other areas of her life but her job. Are we supposed to believe that she sees dancing in this very dangerous environment as her only employment option?

Carlos, as of right now, Dimwit's marriage to Josefina is a joke with a bad punchline. He would need both a brain and heart transplant for that to change thanks to his VenoMom. Graceless enabled him for all 29 years of his life. Maybe he is starting to see this, but it will take a long time and maybe a look into Pandora's Box (Graceless' sordid past) to wake him up to any sense of responsibility.

As for Monserrat, her desire to be nowhere near Alejandro right now is understandable. I agree with the others that I could never forgive his accusations and name-calling, but we know she will eventually.

What she needs is to be free of him for now and from her mother forever. Pity she has too much conscience to take out a life insurance policy on Graceless with a double indemnity clause.

Mary Kat, Josefina has never been allowed to even like herself. That is the ultimate pre-requisite for anyone else loving her. She needs to do herself a favor and get a makeover. Maybe when other men notice her Dimwit will wake up.

Karen, we don't know how long Esme has been working in a strip joint but anyone who has been underemployed for long enough will eventually come to the opinion that they don't deserve more. Don't ask me how I know.

Carlos...good advice to Mony...a DNA test and then a good lawyer to get child support and alimony.

I like Ale in the blue denim shirts,,,not so much in the blue funk. SNAP OUT OF IT, you whiny little girl. I have lost all respect for you, Ale. Funny how acting like a jackass can make even the handsomest guy look unattractive.

Speaking of blue funks, I am sliding into one myself. it was -3 this morning when we left the house at 5.30 , and another storm is coming Wednesday night into Thursday with 6 to 12 inches of snow predicted. Auxillio.

And I am so sick of dim Dim that I wish Jo would have a fling with Adolfo. If Tweedle Dim doesn't want to step up to the plate, get a little loving from Tweddle Dum.

So good to see your post Karen. Still nodding in agreement at "At least true villains give us variety".

Carlos: "spending less quality time with Ginnie would be a good start". Yes it would. Still chuckling.

Diana

Karen...that is a long time to be without power. Our power company stopped trimming tree branches the last few years. Then, hurricane Sandy hit , and lots of lines came down with the tree branches, so the power company has been doing a lot of tree trimming lately. We did not lose power so far this winter despite many snowstorms. ...fingers crossed. Also, we have been getting more snow than ice here. South of us , power companies from Quebec came down to help restore power.

Some of the Maria entries are on both lists because, while I like seeing her moded, it’s dangerous to do so.

Week of February 3, 2014:

Low Points:

Ale talking to Padre A.: “Mons married me for money. She cheated on me. She’s carrying JL’s baby, blah, blah, blah---and then boredom set in.
Angie is sad her father will not be at the wedding.
Alpo has plans for Dim’s escape.
Graceless is . . .well . . .graceless.

Dear Gloria,

Thanks so much for the wonderful recap. I had big laughs at many lines--here are just two my favorites:
" Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586 and concludes that this is the reason Montse sent him the divorce papers. "

I know many other commenters loved this one, too.

And this: "Of course I can replies Ale. I am the mighty Ale. I know everything and am smarter than the average bear."

It was a great, detail-filled recap.

It was awful the way that Ale felt he had to talk Angélica. In his mind, I suppose he thinks he's protecting her. But I still had to laugh as he prefaced his version of events with, "I know you're in delicate health and that I should't tell you this BUT...."

Guess he's remembering what he did to Big Lauro, and figures he always needs to begin with a disclaimer when he talks to the terminally ill.

Thanks, again, Gloria. Reading your fantastic recaps is always a pleasure!

Thanks Gloria for this wonderful detail. I have to admit, I got so ticked off with Ale last night, I kept switching his scenes off. Just enough already. So tired of his self-consuming woe that he wants everyone else to wallow in it too--how dare he do that Angie? Hello--woman dying here and he knows it. Could you have at least woken up one brain cell and maybe, oh I don't know, shut your trap before spewing the usual venom? I guess considering anyone else's feelings is off his To Do list right now.

I agree with Fatima--there is a Lonnnnggg road this man needs to take before I can give him a glimmer of sympathy and understand how he earns Monse's love back. Heck how he deserves to win ANYONE's respect back--he's pretty well insulted and lashed out at everyone.

Judy, you need to load in a ton of chocolate on the patio if we have to deal with this through most of the TN. How many more episodes?

Crack me up with Adolfo and Fina. My my my. I agree they both seemed a bit taken aback. And Dim not caving to Mommy. This whole triangle, Dim wising up slowly, is becoming my favorite plot line.

Since I hardly ever see society knocking down their doors, or Graceless and Tia out and about at all the most fab society hangouts--why in the blazes is it so concerning "what people will say". Guess there must be a "PAGE 6" in the local newspaper we haven't seen for all the gossip.

Daisynjay

Karen, agree 100% with both you and Vivi in DC. Especially agree with Elna June that Alejandro is boring.

Nanette, my word, you are a wonder! Thank you for the list!

Urban, I would probably thank Alejandro for saving my life and that of my child, but right now, that would be as far as it goes.

Fatima

Thanks much Gloria! Ialso loved the 586 line!

With this episode it's getting pretty tedious - Ale's bullheaded wrongheadedness and revenge. This TN really projects rather obvious plot lines and then we have to suffer through as they play out. Not too many clever twists these days.

Although - I must say it was a funny clever moment when Ale simply grabbed his keys and turned around and unlocked his arsenal after Macario refused to return his gun. LOL!

So they're really going to have an old-fashioned duelo with pistols? That's what the preview voiceover implied.

Angelica was making me really uncomfortable with her attempts to get super involved with Monse's life and drag JL into it as well. Her proposal that she and JL be grandparents to Laurito - beyond the pale!!! So many things wrong with that idea I just can't begin!

Hello, Gloria. Thank you for a fine recap. So much detail and nuance. I thought you really caught the difference in tone between Angi's first and second convo with Montserrat. Alejandro has a real talent for poisoning the wells of others.

I loved the way you described JL 'scolding' Refugio with his eyes. what a wonderful image.

I am particularly glad for this recap because I seem to hit the mental FF button when it comes to Ale's conversations. Afterward, I cannot remember a blasted thing that he said.

Why are Macario and Maria enabling Alejandro. Macario hid the gun but did not refuse to drive him into town. I do not get Maria's motivation here, either. Is she just proving that she will go down with Ale all the way to hell? If Ale kills JL he will go to jail. How does that help Maria? I cannot imagine.

The monkey writers have lost me here.

Also, Gloria, isn't it interesting that Angelica always tells the strict truth —except to her parents. JL WAS out of town, just as she told Alejandro.

I fear for Esme. EZ Basurto is bad news and she is foolish to imagine that she is not in a very dangerous line of work.

Thanks again, Gloria, for a great recap.

Elna June

Gloria--You've given us enough food for thought to cover Breakfast, Lunch AND Dinner (just in time for the next episode). Wonderful job.

I liked your simple addition problem--wonder what math-whiz Julia will think of the results.

"They need to baptize the baby soon. What name will the baby have? Montse says her baby will be named Lauro Mendoza." Maybe I'm wrong, but as long as Montse and Ale are married and the DNA test results are positive, he is the putative father, no matter what he wants to believe about his *whore-wife.* The child is his to support--IF she wants him to. Just ask Oprah and Dr. Phil.

Crazeless pulls the Baby Card--Do it for your hijo. Yeah, that and $2.00 won't even buy you a "Congratulations on Your New Bundle of Joy" card. She's running out of options for whose money to extort for her selfish reasons. She should try Joaquin directly or she may have to resort to contacting her relatives in Italy, right EJ?

Urban & Vivi--You wrote it, you own it, 1. "There is no physical proof of that [she cheated on Ale] and too much circumstantial evidence of the possibility that she did." and 2. "Only two people know Monse and JL didn't have an affair-- Monse and JL." That's indeed a very large obstacle.

It's getting to the point that I'd rather NOT see her back with Ale. If we had time, we could play a game called What Will It Take for Montse to Take Ale Back and...saying it's true love doesn't cut it.

Urban:

ITA that Dimmy is way out of the redemption queue. He needs a job and a complete change in attitude. For one thing he needs to stop seducing underage girls!

EJ

Mary Kat:

Welcome to Caray Caray, I haven't seen you post before. I so agree with you about Fina. She has such low self esteem. Maybe this little game with Addled will push be the push she needs to start liking herself.

Karen:

Amiga, I am so glad your power is back on. Stay warm!

Carlos:

I agree with what you said about Monse going after Ale for child support and getting the DNA test, but she's angry not a martyr so to speak. I think she wants to prove to him and herself she is able to support little Laurito on her own. I think she is also a bit afraid that Laurito could be like Ale as he grows older, ya know the temper, the venganza, etc.

UA and Vivi:

I so agree with what both of you said about Laurito not being proof of no affair. Ale will probably think it was the luck of the draw, but at least he would know this child is his, when every.one. has been blithering about that bebe being JL's. He might stop to think about what really happened, and not what every.one. is spewing at him.

I noticed that all the bad guys are spewing the Laurito is JL's. BM, Pedro, Joaquin. I know he doesn't believe anyone connected to Monse, but Victor was never on her side, in the beginning, but now is. What about that? I guess Nadia's influence has something to do with that. Also Macario, who really doesn't know Monse well, is sticking up for her. The Padre too, who by reason of his vocation, can't lie. Does Ale think of that? Nah, not so much.

Ale could use a dose of that TN staple amnesia. Where he has to start all over. Wouldn't that be something?

Oops - that was godparents above, not grandparents LOL!

Anita, "...saying it's true love doesn't cut it."

Exactly.

Fatima

Julia, under the heading of All Things Considered, Alejandro should never have said anything to Angelica. However, she's a "tell it like it is" kind of a woman, so she probably would have dragged it out of him eventually.

This whole thing could have been avoided if anyone knew of the Corruption Connexion between Pedro and Joaquin. Amelia knows that something is rotten in her husband's bank balance and unless I'm wrong nobody but JL and Refugio can possibly make the connexion between Pedro and the attempts on Alejandro's life.

However, JL is now distracted and Refugio doesn't have enough brain cells to figure it out.

The only thing I can figure, EJ, is that Maria gets some kind of charge out of Ale going all nasty caveman. Or maybe it's just that she knows that as long as Ale is down in the dumps thinking black thoughts, he'll probably keep her at his side. OK - enough character analysis.

What do you want to bet Maria interrupts Monse's visit with Ale tonight and tries to "correr" her out of the house right in front of Ale?

I think Virginia is at the age of consent but not yet a legal adult. It seems that almost every country has that problem in its laws.

Angelica has never previously seen Alejandro's temper as she just did. I also agree that it's wrongheaded on her part to even suggest that she and JL be Laurito's godparents.

We never heard how much money Monserrat got for the land she inherited, but she needs to get that money back. Or did the writers drop the ball on that one?

Graceless' relentless rant about all this being Monserrat's fault is really making my blood boil.

I was a little perturbed at Angie's trying to get too far into Montsy's life, too. Maybe she is secretly hoping that after she dies, Montsy and JL will get together again and both will be happy.

Vivi, Karen, Pasofino and others:

I would not get back in a relationship with Ale. He is liable to be as inconsistent and cruel to the child as he is to Montse.

I agree with Carlos. A good divorce lawyer, a new home and a university education could all change Montse's life.

Fact is, she doesn't need JL either. And Daisynjay, I couldn't agree more with you about Angelica's bad boundaries. Yikes!

EJ

Pasofino, that could be. However, Monserrat is over JL and Angelica probably can't understand that because she hasn't been through the same things Monserrat has.

I really hate that TNs lately are showing such bad male behavior. It's almost like they're attempting to get women to accept it or scare us into walking away from it and be madres soleras, which is all too common and contributes to a future of bad relationships for the children.

As for Maria, she's just looking to deprive Monserrat of Alejandro and she doesn't much care how. She can't have him so nobody else can. It's just as narcissistic as Graceless' insistence that her style of whoredom is the only way women can relate to men.

Both of them will pay dearly for that.

Karen- I am so glad that you have power again. What a nightmare to be without it for so long!

Pasofino- I think you're right about Angie trying to maneuver Monse and JL into a relationship after she's dead through this godparent thing. I would not be surprised if she left her grandmother's inheritance that JL doesn't want to her godson, Lauro.

Carlos- I agree with you. Monse should have her lawyer squeeze Ale dry. He can't think any worse of her than he already does. This goes right along with my suggestion the other day that she let it be known far and wide that Ale kicked his pregnant wife out and started shacking up with his whore/lover Maria-- even taking her away for months on a luna de miel trip. Who would get the town sympathy then? She is being WAY too easy on him.

Susanlynn, yes in my part of PA we were not as fortune as you. In the years I've been in/around the area, I haven't seen anything like this. PECO said it was worse than Sandy. And to hear there is more snow coming Wed night/Thu and the weekend. As Southwest airlines says, "Wanna get away?" YES, YES, YES!!

Urban, while I can understand not feeling deserving, Esme's job is so dangerous I need to see her contemplate other ways to use her talents. And I think Vivi noted that Monse & Tia sold the ranch and probably gave half to Dim. They are running out of that money now.

Nanette, thanks for your list. I loved your the world has gone mad.

Carlos, yes to an aggressive divorce lawyer bring Ale into some type of reality.

EJ, yes Ale is too unstable. Even if he saves Monse and little Laurito, I'd be like Fatima. Thank him and be on my way, far away from him.

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say hello and tell you I have been lurking here from time to time. I don't watch lqlvmr regularly, but I try to keep up with it here. In other news, a friend finally talked me into watching The Walking Dead, so I started my own little marathon from the beginning of the series. I'm in the middle of the second season. Thank goodness their seasons are not as long as these novelas. Cheers.

Ugh Ale is such an idiot ,also can anyone please explain what is a stellar participation?Does it has anything to do with the awards from novelas?

Thanks, Gloria! Love all your snarking at Ale's bullheaded stupidity.

Ale has gotten beyond tedious. Next!

I agree with y'all; Montse should not go back to Ale. Even if he gets over his current tantrum, he's a bomb just waiting for the next hint of bad news to set him off. I don't think he's remotely capable of a healthy, functional relationship. He needs a good shrink.

He needs a good anvil just for what he did to Ange...blasting her with gossip and supposition as though it were fact, when he knew she is in delicate health and this would be hurtful to her. Beyond terrible. I'm glad she didn't believe him and went straight to Montse to warn her. Ange is tough. I hope she outlives them all, except maybe baby Laurito.

I do NOT want Josefina to get a makeover that convinces Dim she's a hot wife and he should stay with her. I want her to dump his skeezy ass, take up some meaningful pursuit and develop healthy self-esteem, make some less shallow friends who will tell her how great she is and won't tacitly agree when she or someone else says she is ugly, and maybe then get a makeover that suits her new happier insides and/or find a guy who appreciates her.

Gloria - Terrific recap. I too loved your 2 and 2 equals 586 line. My favorite: “Of course I can replies Ale. I am the mighty Ale. I know everything and am smarter than the average bear.”

I do not want to see Angélica in knots. JL and Montse do not need her to pave the way for them to be together. Angélica, I want you to hear a sincere te amo before you go, but if JL is honestly causing you torment, move on and see the world.

Once Ale has his breakthrough – or breakdown – he’s going to need to get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness from (in my preferred order) Montse, Angélica, Victor, Maria, Macario, and Padre Anselmo.

Not sure why Ale thinks he can best JL in a gun fight, seeing as how JL is formally trained in arms and saved Ale’s life three times, when Ale was in his home base and failed to notice danger himself.

Montse, why wait to get a new job? You’re back in your skinny pants, Laurito is quite advanced for a newborn, and Rosario and Tia are well capable of looking after the tyke and bringing him to work during your breaks. I say get that breast pump going.

I’m assuming the drugs and arms confiscated are going to upset Pedro and Joaquin.

Last week MundoFox started showing “Infames”, starring Luis Roberto Guzmán (JL in Robó) and Ximena Herrera (Ximena in El Señor de los Cielos), and a lot of other actors familiar on both Televisa/Univision and Telmundo. It’s a very dark tn about political corruption in Mexico, and is a revenge tn. The character played by Ximena H. is framed and jailed for the murder of her fiancé as part of some larger political conspiracy. She escapes from prison, is presumed dead, and comes back a few years later with a new identity to infiltrate the corrupt government. Unlike other tns about new identities to enact revenge, her character has MAJOR plastic surgery, and the before surgery actress (Thanya López) is different than the after surgery actress (Ximena H.).

Karen, welcome back! So glad your power is back up. I can't imagine being without it for a week.

Thank you Gloria. There is so much to love about this detailed recap, but let me cite a few of my faves:

"Then Ale has the nerve to say that Montse has not once come back to the hacienda.  (Umm, love butt.  Didn't you THROW her out?  Why would she come back?)"

"the all-knowing Ale"

"Graceless is behind the door pulling a Maria."

Diana:
I adore what you wrote about Alejandro: "His behavior hasn't been reprehensible enough, but now he has wounded the gentlest bird of all, Angelica."

Even so, if Angélica's illness didn't automatically give her dibs on the moral high ground, I might find her insufferable at times. Where JL and Montserrat are concerned, she sure seems to be picking at scabs. (As I make my way through the comments, I see that Audrey has made a similar point. Oho, now I see Pasofino and Elna June chiming in too.)

Karen:
I think Esmeralda also has a blind spot when it comes to men -- does she really think EZ is friend material?

What a nightmare you have had in real life. Glad you are back on the grid!

Julia R:
Nice point about Ale remembering poor Lauro and now prefacing his devastating remarks to the terminally ill with disclaimers. Infeliz!

Infames:

Oh, and Luis Roberto Guzman plays an evil, cold, corrupt government official (very different than JL), and Vanessa Guzmán (Carlos' girlfriend from Alborada) is his partner in crime. Last night, they BOTH sexually harassed Ximena's character, who is working for them (as part of her revenge). That's a first for me in a tn! Sexually harassed by both your male and female boss on the same day.

Karen, a week is far too long to be without power. So glad you are back but sorry you had to go through that. Will pray that the next storms bypass you or at the least, give you a minimum of (additional) snow accumulation.

Diana

Gloria great detailed recap. My fav line: “Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586”—classic!!!

Tuned in just when Ale was talking smack to Angie. I’m so done. Well, until Mons turned up at the hacienda. That was unexpected. The first time in a long time this TN threw us a curveball (exception: Dim and Virgie—that was unexpected, too).

I thought JL was supposed to be making Angie happy during her final days. Now he’s gone all broody about Mons. Thank goodness Mons told Angie she no longer loved him in that way.

Avances: the JL and Ale meeting was the preview I didn’t want to mention I saw in case it was considered spoilerish. Is it considered a spoiler if we relate what we’ve seen in a preview that doesn’t appear at the end of the ep?

UA: Thanks for the great pic of ML! I just watched That Midnight Kiss—his first film—for the first time since I was a kid, a few weeks ago. He looked really good and his singing was marvelous. He actually wasn’t a bad movie actor. I don’t care for Kathryn Grayson, who was his co-star, I prefer Deanna Durbin. In fact I love Deanna Durbin. She’s the one that “introduced” me to my favorite piece of classical music: Nessun Dorma.

Fatima and Karen. Appreciate that you like the lists.

Nanette

Future appearances by Ale and Monse -

Maury Povich Show, YOU ARE THE FATHER!!

Dr. Phil Show - Ale only "Why do hispanic men need to be MACHO for no reason"

Hello Latina!!

I think your show and ours have a lot in common because honestly, we have a few characters that are doing an awesome, brainless zombie imitation!

UA I agree on these macho, stubborn, stupid male leads we have had lately that go through the absurdest swings of behavior and the female sits back and either pines away for them, or at the merest hint of maybe better behavior, they are quick to forgive and forget. The one positive hear is that Monse is laying down the law and saying he will need to crawl back to me...so I would predict that our hero is going to be falling pretty low before he can find the light at the end of this TN tunnel.

Just hope we don't get one of those quick fix tragedies like Ale getting near death or poor little Laurito having a health crisis and suddenly after episodes of everyone wringing hands and shedding tears, they are all kissy huggy again.

Daisynjay

Karen:
I am so glad you have power again. What a dreadful winter you are having! I forget where you are in PA? Is it like that all over the State? My poor sister live in Lake Minnetonka, MN. and it is a record-breaking cold winter for them as well. They have had many, many days where the standing temp was less than 0*F. I hear Wisconsin is dreadful, as are the Dakotas.

I wish the rest of the country was as skillful at removing snow and ice as are those States with colder winters. The headline on CNN news when I woke up this AM was about an impending ice storm in GA. This was the NATIONAL headline. I suppose GA is like many parts of the West—they simply do not have the snow removal equipment to keep up with snowy, icy weather.

At any rate, Karen, do stay safe and as warm as possible.

Susanlynn, I am sorry the winter is getting you down. It sounds so rough.

EJ

Gloria,

I haven't finished reading all the comments but I had to stop and say Thank You for the awesome recap. It was very detailed and fun to read.

Madelaine,
ITA, Adolfito and Fina looked a little frazzled after that kiss. Was Adolfo acting? He is pretty good at fooling everyone, but maybe he can't fool himself. He might end up in love with Fina. She, OTOH. was not acting, but I'm not sure if she was surprised that Adolfito kissed her, or how it made her feel. I am guessing that she is inexperienced, and she might not have kissed many others. Also, she is probably feeling guilty because she is married, and feels she betrayed Dimi.

So glad that both Montse and Dimi stood up to their mother.

Note: Padre A, Macario, Victor and Angie were the voices of reason in this epi.

I know that many commenters think that it is stupid to have a duel between Ale and JL. The only thing I know is that this needs to happen already. I am tired of this back and forth sh**. The monkey writers have had us waiting long enough. I don't want anyone to get killed, I just hate waiting. This confrontation has to take place, and it better happen soon!

I think it was a mistake for Montse to go see Ale. I know she is only trying to help, but she might make things worse. He is already pithed enough. Her going over there, to plead for JL's life I assume, is only going to add fuel to the fire. Ale will only see this as Montse trying to protect JL, the man she loves. Montse should have sent Rosario to talk to Ale. That way she could tell him that she is his momma.

Much more to say, but I want to finish reading the comments.

Back to comments and work...hasta pronto!

Thank you all for your kind words. Glad to be back and chatting about this crazy tn.

I hope Montse doesn't even mention JL. I agree, pleading for his life would only make her seem guilty and put JL in more danger. I hope that instead she just tells Ale off for all the horrible things he's done. Followed by a "¡Hasta nunca!" and a door slam, and then if he ever, ever wants to meet his son, he can beg and grovel and go to years of therapy and anger management training and logic courses first.

Mads: “He needs a good comeuppance for all the agony he has put Monse and Laurito through. What a jerk!”—I totally agree. Then I thought about it and realized that it just isn’t Mons and Little L that he’s putting through hell. Almost everybody he’s come in contact with, he’s distressed in some way or another: Padre A., Mac, Dom, Vic, Fina, and now Angie--which is beyond unforgiveable—she’s dying, you freak!! I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting.

Rosario. She's one of the most hurt in this idiotic kerfuffle.

Uhm, Lauro, whom he killed.

True. Although it may not be a good time she needs to ID herself NOW.

But to Alejandro and not where Graceless can hear. Can you imagine her reaction?

I'm commenting in installments.

So true about what Ale thinks of Mons and what he's called her to her face and other. She’d be crazy to even think about going back to him. What could he possibly do at this stage to redeem himself enough for her?

UA: I’m afraid even saving Mons and/or Little L wouldn’t be enough redemption for me. Perhaps I’m being too hard on him? ;)

Carlos: Liking your advice to Mons.

UA: “. . . anyone who has been underemployed for long enough will eventually come to the opinion that they don't deserve more. Don't ask me how I know.”—or me.

JuliaR: “Guess he's remembering what he did to Big Lauro, and figures he always needs to begin with a disclaimer when he talks to the terminally ill.”—too funny.

I can see Angie wanting JL and Mons to be together when she dies. She loves JL so much, she wants what will make him happy and she sees that as a life with Mons.

Julia,

Yes, but for me she is so frustrating because she potentially could wield so much power and positive influence. Never underestimate the power of a mother... just look at Graciela.

Carlos

Graciela has had 29 years of practice; Rosario had ZERO.

Of course as soon as Alejandro accepts this there will be a whole big thing over who sent Rosario to prison in the first place. Which may be unknowable and unfixable at this point.

Nanette- Just read your lists. Loved Maria owning the LP list and Gracie owning the HP list. That was a shocker! :)

True, Carlos, but I also understand why she's so afraid to tell him. He's in such a perpetual rage, who knows how he will react? He may very well be furious at her and blame her for everything that is wrong with his life. He does have reason to be upset that she has waited so long to come clean, but even his legitimate gripes he tends to blow all out of proportion and use to fuel his perpetual rage.

Ale was an angry, dark soul even before he met Montserrat. I think the way things played out with her just triggered a lot of mental issues that were already lurking there.

Yes, Ale has managed to spread the joy to everyone...friend and foe alike. He is an equal opportunity buzzkill. I am glad that he doesn't own a dog because he would probably be kicking it.

Vivi...hmmm...Carlos's girlfriend in Alborada ...was that the irrepressible Perla ?

EJ..Thanks. Everyone around here looks a little dazed and confused at this point . I have started wearing bright colors. I am tired of wearing layers of clothes and piling on more layers to go outside. Bah...meh...boo...hisss We have gotten one snowstorm after the other. The kids love the snow days, but if we get many more , the schools will be going later in June. The college I teach at closed two days and had two compressed schedule days when classes ran 50 minutes instead of the usual 75 minutes. I am behind in what I am supposed to teach in a semester. The next storm starts tomorrow night and goes all day Thursday with 6 to 12 inches or more predicted.

Susanlynn- Yes, Perla. And she is VERY bad in Infames. I'm not going to be a regular watcher because it's on late, and it's such a dark storyline.

Julia,

"He's in such a perpetual rage, who knows how he will react?"

Who cares?

Padre Anselmo should arrange a meeting between the three of them:

"Alejandro, this is your mother."

How hard was that?

He already knows that his mother was raped by his father (note the ironic parallel between him and his son Laurito there). With learning the rest of her history is he going to turn on her? As for her being reluctant to reveal herself to him... his maniacal behavior hasn't really provided an environment conducive to that... has it?

So the answer is to keep treating him like some sort of unpredictable dangerous dog and continuing to tippytoe around him lest we displease him and invoke his rage?

If he rejects her, I'll bet there are lawyers in Mexico willing to take her case against don Benny's estate.

Carlos

When Ale finds out that Rosario is his mother, he is not going to appreciate the fact that she has always been so close to Mony and that she knew that JL was right there at the hacienda.

Vivi and Julia: I dashed that list off so quickly that I knew I was forgetting some people. Thanks.

Though I’m somewhat glad Mons and Ale are finally having a face-to-face, it’s probably not the best idea. Especially, as others have noted, she goes to plead for JL’s life.

Good point, Susanlynn.

Vivi: I almost gagged when Gracie ended up so often on the HP list.

Carlos: amen!

OT: The new Maria Elisa Carmargo (Pato-PEAM) looks very interesting. Starts next Tuesday on Telemundo. I'm going to tune into it and maybe scale back on this one if I like it well enough.

Susanlynn,

It wasn't exactly like he gave her encouragement to be close to him. I say again, Who cares? Either he is happy that his mother somehow managed to survive all those horrible things that happened to her... or not.

I'm fed up with Alejandro and the sooner he faces up to the truth... the better. Is he a confused but basically good guy or is he a self-centered lunatic?

Or is this all María's fault?

Carlos

Yes, Carlos - I still remember the conversation where Ale, outraged, asks Monse "What do you think, that I'm some kind of monster?" and I was so disappointed she didn't answer "Well......yes?"

It's been a long work day, but what a treat to come home to more wonderful comments!!

So, you guys think that Montserrat is going over to plead JL's case with Alejandro?! Tell me it isn't so?! Could she REALLY be that stupid?!

Carlos, you have certainly brought up some excellent points: a) Montserrat needs to invoke her power as a mother and start using it (brilliant!) b) Rosario laying claim to Don Benny's estate! OH MY YES! I could slap myself upside the head!! OF COURSE, she could lay some claim to this. Why in the world didn't I see that?! I understand Rosario's feelings of shame, but this line of thinking has got to go and muy pronto.

Rosario and Montserrat could become a fighting force fearful to behold if they would only just WAKE UP.

Nanette, "Nessun Dorma" so powerful and I love it and can listen to it over and over again, especially with Pavarotti.

Karen, I can only imagine what you have been through for these long days. I only had to experience it once for 3 days and I never want to have to do that again. I'm glad you are here with us. :))

My "one true weakness" is NPR. As I was listening on the drive home today, I thought of all of our wonderful and INCREDIBLY talented recappers. "Marketplace" was talking about a website called: http://beta.ohyouhero.com/

I hope I wrote that link correctly. If not, Google "ohyou hero". Anywho, you talented writers should get paid for your work, so check out the website and THINK ABOUT IT. I am looking at ALL OF YOU. :))

Fatima

Carlos, as much as I dislike the whore Maria, what is happening with and to Alejandro is definitely not her fault. Is she taking advantage of the situation? Of course, but not even I would fault her for this.

As far as Alejandro goes, I agree: who the bloody heck cares?!

Fatima

Yes, Fatima, that's the only reason I can imagine she's gone to see Alejandro, to try to talk him out of going after José Luis. And I think he'll react just as others here imagine - her pleas will just fan the flames and convince him that they are still lovers.

Oh my gosh, Audrey. This is so incredibly stupid and will only prolong this horrible agony. This will only serve to CONVINCE the idiot and fool Alejandro that the innocent child is not his.

You can shove any DNA test in front of his stupid face and he will simply say it was faked, because as we all know, ALEJANDRO KNOWS IT ALL.

Fatima

Carlos...I remember when I watched Amor Real that I could not believe what the writers were having the so called galan do. As much as I love Fernando C., i could not believe the things Manuel was saying and doing....so unherolike. I like my galans to be decent human beings. Ale is acting like a spoiled , egocentric child. You would think that his hard luck life would have made him a little more compassionate and less judgmental. Looking for answers or escape in a bottle is just makings matters worse. Basta. At this point, I want a new guy to come on the scene for Mony. Let Ale marinate in self pity and despair and see how that works out for him. I guess he did not get the memo about the benefits of thinking about someone other than yourself.

All this time Rosario has worried that El Patrón would be embarrassed to be related to her, but I think she should be embarrassed to be related to him. Maybe she has realized that. He is no prize as a son. I do think he is fundamentally a selfish jerk, not a confused good guy.

Julia, excellent point. :)

Fatima

Julia...good point. I am not sure how the writers plan to spin the hot mess that Ale has become to convince us that he is just "a confused good guy." That is going to take some remarkable spin, What could redeem him now that he has slipped so far down the rabbit hole of crazy jealousy ? I am really tired of his "how could she do this to ME ME ME ?

Yes - Ale misses the good guy mark. Lunatic? No, but I agree with Julia's selfish jerk diagnosis:

He has absolutely no sense of humor.
He is extremely self-absorbed.
He seems to totally lack compassion.
He very rarely listens to other people.
He seems to be generally very unobservant (side effect of being so self-absorbed).
He has an extreme case of black-and-white thinking and nuances escape him completely.
He thinks he is the law.

Are jerks just confused people? Maybe at some level. Can it be "grown out of"? Who knows? Ale seems to have a terminal case of it. If it wasn't tempered at all by the provoked death of his father-in-law, a man he loved and admired, then it seems there is no hope.
