Lo Que La Vida Me Robo, Capitulo 65. 02/10/14.
Montse asks Angelica what's going on. She tells Montse that Ale is in town looking for JL. Luckily he's out of town. When I asked Ale what he wanted with my husband, he said JL knew. Was he armed asks Montse. I don't know replies Angelica. She says they can't allow him to hurt JL. She thinks Montse needs to stop this. Montse tells Angelica she doesn't know how, but she will do her best so that Ale doesn't go after JL. Angelica fears that if they come across each other, one will end up dead. You can't image the look of pure hate coming from Ale. Angelica says Ale thinks that JL is the father of her baby. Is it true? Of course not replies Montse. Angelica also says that Ale told her that Montse and JL are waiting for her to die to be together. Montse can't believe that Ale would say something so cruel and denies it. Angelica says you told me that you stopped loving JL. Were you lying to me? Montse says that she will always care for JL and remember his as her first love. But that doesn't mean she still loves him.
At the strip club, Esme is putting on a show. She walks off stage and goes to her dressing room. EZ is waiting for her. He brings her some jewelry and tries to steal a kiss. She says no and pushes him off. Esme asks him what's wrong? Those type of things don't impress me. He tries again to kiss her and she shoves him away. She says she doesn't want his gift and for him to leave.
Manana: JL and Ale meet.
Labels: robo
Ale just keeps digging his hole deeper and deeper. I was sorry Angelica had to suffer because of his bull headed wrong thinking. Can't wait for his comeuppance and long long road to redemption. It is getting hard to watch him in his current hateful state.
Esme should have taken Pedro's beating as the message it was intended to be and left town for good.
Jarifa
Fabulous, detailed recap! Thank you so much for this splendid recap.
Can Ale get any worse? I couldn't stand it when he came to JL's and Angie's and was so cruel to Angie! He knows she's dying and still he spews his crap! He has no heart and is losing his soul. He has no heart! I agree with Monse, she shouldn't forgive him.
Yay! Monse wants to make her way in the world. I wonder what she will do once Laurito is old enough? She is thinking ahead.
Poor Angie. I am glad that Angie and Monse had the frank talks. It cleared the air. I am glad that JL is staying away from Monse and that he is taking great care of Angie. I'm just hoping this mess doesn't cause the downward slope in Angie's illness.
Was there a smidge of feeling from Addled when he kissed Fina? It sure seemed that way! He looked gob smacked after that kiss and so did Fina.
The money must be running out if Graceless is pushing Dimwit to reconcile.
I am glad that Monse stood up to Graceless and called it like it was. I do hope Monse gets that DNA test. I want him to see with his own eyes exactly how he's been hoodwinked. I want him to beg on his knees as Monse wants. He needs a good comeuppance for all the agony he has put Monse and Laurito through. What a jerk!
Actually, that's not a lie. It was months ago, and right before he and Angie got married.
Back to the recap.
Your usual wry wit was on full display and some of my favorites were: “Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586” and “Ale is deaf and can't hear the common sense Padre is talking”.
Jarifa and Madelaine, we are all on the same page with Ale. His behavior hasn't been reprehensible enough, but now he has wounded the gentlest bird of all, Angelica. How emotionally raw was “she tells him he doesn’t have to wait until she dies for him to follow his heart”? And Ale exacerabated her thoughts by injecting his venom deep into her soul. I cannot forgive Ale for this cruelty.
Gloria, "We are all at fault here replies Montse. You for selling me, Ale for buying me and me for allowing it all". Yes. However, some more responsible than others. Ale, I am directing my disdainful scornful glance directly at you.
Gracie is feverishly begging and plotting to jump start cash flow by whatever means necessary. She certainly has her work cut out for her there!
Jarifa, Esme is a smart girl and her associating with EZ is cringeworthy. Both he and Pedro are capable of violence. She had best be wary.
Madelaine, yes, I sensed a Fina/Addled connection too! Passion is new to Fina and although Addled is rather unkempt, he is rather handsome so I am sure that was some kiss.
Gloria, thank you again. Another sensational job.
Diana
Jarifa: Right. What does Esme see in that place. Anyone with any sense would have moved out after being beaten for no good reason.
It was almost comical seeing Gracie so desperate with Dimi responding in his usual nitwit way. Adolfo really has no scruples whatsoever. He's moving in on Dimi and will probably tell his he's doing him (Dimi) a favor.
We all need to be patient; this dark emotional journey of Alejandro's is going to take longer yet. The DNA test will show that Laurito is his son, but that is not proof that Monserrat never cheated on him. There is no physical proof of that and too much circumstantial evidence of the possibility that she did.
Graceless has some cojones thinking that she is in any way worthy of respect. One could make the argument that she is entitled to something like it from Dimwit because she has enabled him all this time, but I'm not buying that. She deserves to know she isn't as smart as she thinks she is. I love when he told her not to touch him.
He's not yet on any road to redemption. The only thing that could point him that way would be if he actually got a job and helped support Monserrat and Laurito.
I've said this many times about past villains, but I'll say it again here: If she could bottle her chutzpah she'd make a million overnight.
Urban, you are absolutely right. The DNA test will prove nothing. Only two people know Monse and JL didn't have an affair-- Monse and JL. If Ale wants Monse back, he's going to have to have faith in her. My question is, can a man ever have faith in a woman whom he believes is EVIL enough to plot the duping and fleecing of a sweet girl with cancer? Yes, evil. That is what he believes of Monse. Not only does he believe she's a liar, a cheater, a slut, greedy, and a fraud, he believes she is evil. I would NEVER go back to a man who thought so little of me.
What a great line! Way to show Ale's delusional thinking in a humorous way!
Now back to read more of the recap.
For me, there is nothing at this point that the writers could do to make the presumed and much anticipated reunion between Montserrat and Alejandro believable.
The words that have been spoken and the way that Alejandro thinks about Montserrat are beyond the pale.
I am really curious as to how the writers are going to make this "loving" reunion happen.
Fatima
"hard-headed and blind"
"(umm, love butt. Didn't you THROW her out?..."
"pulling a Maria"
You made the re-telling of what was clearly a miserable episode lots of fun. I'll watch this later today for my daily dose of español, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. Jeeeesh!
Ay...hardly anyone is getting lucky except maybe Jl and Angie. I can barely stand to watch Ale acting stupid.
Disgraceful is delusional . Has she ever thought of putting all the energy she uses trying to get other people's money into earning some money by getting a job ? Also, does she have a full length mirror? I guess that we are a certain age , but in our minds we think of ourselves as a different age. disgraceful evidently thinks that she is a teenager.,,,that messy hairdo..those shoes.
At least Malria kept a pretty low profile in this episode, but everyone is starting to bore me.
1. They think they're too good to work
2. They're scared witless that others will see their inadequacies and either laugh behind their backs or call them out on them.
Why else do you think she has no friends?
UA,
"He's not yet on any road to redemption. The only thing that could point him that way would be if he actually got a job and helped support Monserrat and Laurito."
While I agree that would be a nice positive thing, I think it's more important that he focus his efforts on his own new family and devote his energies toward making his marriage to Fina work. spending less quality time with Ginnie would be a good start.
Montserrat has a husband and should look to him for support of her and Laurito. She needs to stop playing the martyr, get a DNA test for Laurito, get a good ruthless lawyer, and go after Alejandro. Defending himself and his property against a vengeful spouse might just help shake him out of his blue funk.
Carlos
So happy to be posting in my home (I've been w/o power since late last Tuesday night).
Thanks so much for this recap Gloria. I enjoyed how you kept noting Ale's foolishness throughout.
Diana, yes Ale's horrible and then he tries to verbally kill another person in ill health. Thankfully the writers didn't have her relapse on the spot.
Fatima, ITA that seeing how the writers bring Ale and Monse back together will be interesting but like Vivi, I would NEVER return to him. As EJ said some time ago, he's boring. And his rage makes him think spewing hate is his right. At least true villains give us variety.
Jarifa/Pasofino, Esme is bright in all the other areas of her life but her job. Are we supposed to believe that she sees dancing in this very dangerous environment as her only employment option?
As for Monserrat, her desire to be nowhere near Alejandro right now is understandable. I agree with the others that I could never forgive his accusations and name-calling, but we know she will eventually.
What she needs is to be free of him for now and from her mother forever. Pity she has too much conscience to take out a life insurance policy on Graceless with a double indemnity clause.
Mary Kat, Josefina has never been allowed to even like herself. That is the ultimate pre-requisite for anyone else loving her. She needs to do herself a favor and get a makeover. Maybe when other men notice her Dimwit will wake up.
Karen, we don't know how long Esme has been working in a strip joint but anyone who has been underemployed for long enough will eventually come to the opinion that they don't deserve more. Don't ask me how I know.
I like Ale in the blue denim shirts,,,not so much in the blue funk. SNAP OUT OF IT, you whiny little girl. I have lost all respect for you, Ale. Funny how acting like a jackass can make even the handsomest guy look unattractive.
Speaking of blue funks, I am sliding into one myself. it was -3 this morning when we left the house at 5.30 , and another storm is coming Wednesday night into Thursday with 6 to 12 inches of snow predicted. Auxillio.
And I am so sick of dim Dim that I wish Jo would have a fling with Adolfo. If Tweedle Dim doesn't want to step up to the plate, get a little loving from Tweddle Dum.
Carlos: "spending less quality time with Ginnie would be a good start". Yes it would. Still chuckling.
Diana

Love when Mac calls Mons “Patroncita”.
Thanks so much for the wonderful recap. I had big laughs at many lines--here are just two my favorites:
" Ale puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 586 and concludes that this is the reason Montse sent him the divorce papers. "
I know many other commenters loved this one, too.
And this: "Of course I can replies Ale. I am the mighty Ale. I know everything and am smarter than the average bear."
It was a great, detail-filled recap.
It was awful the way that Ale felt he had to talk Angélica. In his mind, I suppose he thinks he's protecting her. But I still had to laugh as he prefaced his version of events with, "I know you're in delicate health and that I should't tell you this BUT...."
Guess he's remembering what he did to Big Lauro, and figures he always needs to begin with a disclaimer when he talks to the terminally ill.
Thanks, again, Gloria. Reading your fantastic recaps is always a pleasure!
I agree with Fatima--there is a Lonnnnggg road this man needs to take before I can give him a glimmer of sympathy and understand how he earns Monse's love back. Heck how he deserves to win ANYONE's respect back--he's pretty well insulted and lashed out at everyone.
Judy, you need to load in a ton of chocolate on the patio if we have to deal with this through most of the TN. How many more episodes?
Crack me up with Adolfo and Fina. My my my. I agree they both seemed a bit taken aback. And Dim not caving to Mommy. This whole triangle, Dim wising up slowly, is becoming my favorite plot line.
Since I hardly ever see society knocking down their doors, or Graceless and Tia out and about at all the most fab society hangouts--why in the blazes is it so concerning "what people will say". Guess there must be a "PAGE 6" in the local newspaper we haven't seen for all the gossip.
Daisynjay
Nanette, my word, you are a wonder! Thank you for the list!
Urban, I would probably thank Alejandro for saving my life and that of my child, but right now, that would be as far as it goes.
Fatima
With this episode it's getting pretty tedious - Ale's bullheaded wrongheadedness and revenge. This TN really projects rather obvious plot lines and then we have to suffer through as they play out. Not too many clever twists these days.
Although - I must say it was a funny clever moment when Ale simply grabbed his keys and turned around and unlocked his arsenal after Macario refused to return his gun. LOL!
So they're really going to have an old-fashioned duelo with pistols? That's what the preview voiceover implied.
Angelica was making me really uncomfortable with her attempts to get super involved with Monse's life and drag JL into it as well. Her proposal that she and JL be grandparents to Laurito - beyond the pale!!! So many things wrong with that idea I just can't begin!
I loved the way you described JL 'scolding' Refugio with his eyes. what a wonderful image.
I am particularly glad for this recap because I seem to hit the mental FF button when it comes to Ale's conversations. Afterward, I cannot remember a blasted thing that he said.
Why are Macario and Maria enabling Alejandro. Macario hid the gun but did not refuse to drive him into town. I do not get Maria's motivation here, either. Is she just proving that she will go down with Ale all the way to hell? If Ale kills JL he will go to jail. How does that help Maria? I cannot imagine.
The monkey writers have lost me here.
Also, Gloria, isn't it interesting that Angelica always tells the strict truth —except to her parents. JL WAS out of town, just as she told Alejandro.
I fear for Esme. EZ Basurto is bad news and she is foolish to imagine that she is not in a very dangerous line of work.
Thanks again, Gloria, for a great recap.
Elna June
I liked your simple addition problem--wonder what math-whiz Julia will think of the results.
"They need to baptize the baby soon. What name will the baby have? Montse says her baby will be named Lauro Mendoza." Maybe I'm wrong, but as long as Montse and Ale are married and the DNA test results are positive, he is the putative father, no matter what he wants to believe about his *whore-wife.* The child is his to support--IF she wants him to. Just ask Oprah and Dr. Phil.
Crazeless pulls the Baby Card--Do it for your hijo. Yeah, that and $2.00 won't even buy you a "Congratulations on Your New Bundle of Joy" card. She's running out of options for whose money to extort for her selfish reasons. She should try Joaquin directly or she may have to resort to contacting her relatives in Italy, right EJ?
Urban & Vivi--You wrote it, you own it, 1. "There is no physical proof of that [she cheated on Ale] and too much circumstantial evidence of the possibility that she did." and 2. "Only two people know Monse and JL didn't have an affair-- Monse and JL." That's indeed a very large obstacle.
It's getting to the point that I'd rather NOT see her back with Ale. If we had time, we could play a game called What Will It Take for Montse to Take Ale Back and...saying it's true love doesn't cut it.
ITA that Dimmy is way out of the redemption queue. He needs a job and a complete change in attitude. For one thing he needs to stop seducing underage girls!
EJ
Welcome to Caray Caray, I haven't seen you post before. I so agree with you about Fina. She has such low self esteem. Maybe this little game with Addled will push be the push she needs to start liking herself.
Karen:
Amiga, I am so glad your power is back on. Stay warm!
Carlos:
I agree with what you said about Monse going after Ale for child support and getting the DNA test, but she's angry not a martyr so to speak. I think she wants to prove to him and herself she is able to support little Laurito on her own. I think she is also a bit afraid that Laurito could be like Ale as he grows older, ya know the temper, the venganza, etc.
UA and Vivi:
I so agree with what both of you said about Laurito not being proof of no affair. Ale will probably think it was the luck of the draw, but at least he would know this child is his, when every.one. has been blithering about that bebe being JL's. He might stop to think about what really happened, and not what every.one. is spewing at him.
I noticed that all the bad guys are spewing the Laurito is JL's. BM, Pedro, Joaquin. I know he doesn't believe anyone connected to Monse, but Victor was never on her side, in the beginning, but now is. What about that? I guess Nadia's influence has something to do with that. Also Macario, who really doesn't know Monse well, is sticking up for her. The Padre too, who by reason of his vocation, can't lie. Does Ale think of that? Nah, not so much.
Ale could use a dose of that TN staple amnesia. Where he has to start all over. Wouldn't that be something?
This whole thing could have been avoided if anyone knew of the Corruption Connexion between Pedro and Joaquin. Amelia knows that something is rotten in her husband's bank balance and unless I'm wrong nobody but JL and Refugio can possibly make the connexion between Pedro and the attempts on Alejandro's life.
However, JL is now distracted and Refugio doesn't have enough brain cells to figure it out.
What do you want to bet Maria interrupts Monse's visit with Ale tonight and tries to "correr" her out of the house right in front of Ale?
Angelica has never previously seen Alejandro's temper as she just did. I also agree that it's wrongheaded on her part to even suggest that she and JL be Laurito's godparents.
We never heard how much money Monserrat got for the land she inherited, but she needs to get that money back. Or did the writers drop the ball on that one?
Graceless' relentless rant about all this being Monserrat's fault is really making my blood boil.
I would not get back in a relationship with Ale. He is liable to be as inconsistent and cruel to the child as he is to Montse.
I agree with Carlos. A good divorce lawyer, a new home and a university education could all change Montse's life.
Fact is, she doesn't need JL either. And Daisynjay, I couldn't agree more with you about Angelica's bad boundaries. Yikes!
EJ
I really hate that TNs lately are showing such bad male behavior. It's almost like they're attempting to get women to accept it or scare us into walking away from it and be madres soleras, which is all too common and contributes to a future of bad relationships for the children.
As for Maria, she's just looking to deprive Monserrat of Alejandro and she doesn't much care how. She can't have him so nobody else can. It's just as narcissistic as Graceless' insistence that her style of whoredom is the only way women can relate to men.
Both of them will pay dearly for that.
Pasofino- I think you're right about Angie trying to maneuver Monse and JL into a relationship after she's dead through this godparent thing. I would not be surprised if she left her grandmother's inheritance that JL doesn't want to her godson, Lauro.
Carlos- I agree with you. Monse should have her lawyer squeeze Ale dry. He can't think any worse of her than he already does. This goes right along with my suggestion the other day that she let it be known far and wide that Ale kicked his pregnant wife out and started shacking up with his whore/lover Maria-- even taking her away for months on a luna de miel trip. Who would get the town sympathy then? She is being WAY too easy on him.
Urban, while I can understand not feeling deserving, Esme's job is so dangerous I need to see her contemplate other ways to use her talents. And I think Vivi noted that Monse & Tia sold the ranch and probably gave half to Dim. They are running out of that money now.
Nanette, thanks for your list. I loved your the world has gone mad.
Carlos, yes to an aggressive divorce lawyer bring Ale into some type of reality.
EJ, yes Ale is too unstable. Even if he saves Monse and little Laurito, I'd be like Fatima. Thank him and be on my way, far away from him.
Just a quick note to say hello and tell you I have been lurking here from time to time. I don't watch lqlvmr regularly, but I try to keep up with it here. In other news, a friend finally talked me into watching The Walking Dead, so I started my own little marathon from the beginning of the series. I'm in the middle of the second season. Thank goodness their seasons are not as long as these novelas. Cheers.
Ale has gotten beyond tedious. Next!
I agree with y'all; Montse should not go back to Ale. Even if he gets over his current tantrum, he's a bomb just waiting for the next hint of bad news to set him off. I don't think he's remotely capable of a healthy, functional relationship. He needs a good shrink.
He needs a good anvil just for what he did to Ange...blasting her with gossip and supposition as though it were fact, when he knew she is in delicate health and this would be hurtful to her. Beyond terrible. I'm glad she didn't believe him and went straight to Montse to warn her. Ange is tough. I hope she outlives them all, except maybe baby Laurito.
I do NOT want Josefina to get a makeover that convinces Dim she's a hot wife and he should stay with her. I want her to dump his skeezy ass, take up some meaningful pursuit and develop healthy self-esteem, make some less shallow friends who will tell her how great she is and won't tacitly agree when she or someone else says she is ugly, and maybe then get a makeover that suits her new happier insides and/or find a guy who appreciates her.
I do not want to see Angélica in knots. JL and Montse do not need her to pave the way for them to be together. Angélica, I want you to hear a sincere te amo before you go, but if JL is honestly causing you torment, move on and see the world.
Once Ale has his breakthrough – or breakdown – he’s going to need to get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness from (in my preferred order) Montse, Angélica, Victor, Maria, Macario, and Padre Anselmo.
Not sure why Ale thinks he can best JL in a gun fight, seeing as how JL is formally trained in arms and saved Ale’s life three times, when Ale was in his home base and failed to notice danger himself.
Montse, why wait to get a new job? You’re back in your skinny pants, Laurito is quite advanced for a newborn, and Rosario and Tia are well capable of looking after the tyke and bringing him to work during your breaks. I say get that breast pump going.
I’m assuming the drugs and arms confiscated are going to upset Pedro and Joaquin.
"Then Ale has the nerve to say that Montse has not once come back to the hacienda. (Umm, love butt. Didn't you THROW her out? Why would she come back?)"
"the all-knowing Ale"
"Graceless is behind the door pulling a Maria."
Diana:
I adore what you wrote about Alejandro: "His behavior hasn't been reprehensible enough, but now he has wounded the gentlest bird of all, Angelica."
Even so, if Angélica's illness didn't automatically give her dibs on the moral high ground, I might find her insufferable at times. Where JL and Montserrat are concerned, she sure seems to be picking at scabs. (As I make my way through the comments, I see that Audrey has made a similar point. Oho, now I see Pasofino and Elna June chiming in too.)
Karen:
I think Esmeralda also has a blind spot when it comes to men -- does she really think EZ is friend material?
What a nightmare you have had in real life. Glad you are back on the grid!
Julia R:
Nice point about Ale remembering poor Lauro and now prefacing his devastating remarks to the terminally ill with disclaimers. Infeliz!
Oh, and Luis Roberto Guzman plays an evil, cold, corrupt government official (very different than JL), and Vanessa Guzmán (Carlos' girlfriend from Alborada) is his partner in crime. Last night, they BOTH sexually harassed Ximena's character, who is working for them (as part of her revenge). That's a first for me in a tn! Sexually harassed by both your male and female boss on the same day.
Diana
Tuned in just when Ale was talking smack to Angie. I’m so done. Well, until Mons turned up at the hacienda. That was unexpected. The first time in a long time this TN threw us a curveball (exception: Dim and Virgie—that was unexpected, too).
I thought JL was supposed to be making Angie happy during her final days. Now he’s gone all broody about Mons. Thank goodness Mons told Angie she no longer loved him in that way.
Avances: the JL and Ale meeting was the preview I didn’t want to mention I saw in case it was considered spoilerish. Is it considered a spoiler if we relate what we’ve seen in a preview that doesn’t appear at the end of the ep?
UA: Thanks for the great pic of ML! I just watched That Midnight Kiss—his first film—for the first time since I was a kid, a few weeks ago. He looked really good and his singing was marvelous. He actually wasn’t a bad movie actor. I don’t care for Kathryn Grayson, who was his co-star, I prefer Deanna Durbin. In fact I love Deanna Durbin. She’s the one that “introduced” me to my favorite piece of classical music: Nessun Dorma.
Fatima and Karen. Appreciate that you like the lists.
Nanette
Maury Povich Show, YOU ARE THE FATHER!!
Dr. Phil Show - Ale only "Why do hispanic men need to be MACHO for no reason"
I think your show and ours have a lot in common because honestly, we have a few characters that are doing an awesome, brainless zombie imitation!
UA I agree on these macho, stubborn, stupid male leads we have had lately that go through the absurdest swings of behavior and the female sits back and either pines away for them, or at the merest hint of maybe better behavior, they are quick to forgive and forget. The one positive hear is that Monse is laying down the law and saying he will need to crawl back to me...so I would predict that our hero is going to be falling pretty low before he can find the light at the end of this TN tunnel.
Just hope we don't get one of those quick fix tragedies like Ale getting near death or poor little Laurito having a health crisis and suddenly after episodes of everyone wringing hands and shedding tears, they are all kissy huggy again.

I am so glad you have power again. What a dreadful winter you are having! I forget where you are in PA? Is it like that all over the State? My poor sister live in Lake Minnetonka, MN. and it is a record-breaking cold winter for them as well. They have had many, many days where the standing temp was less than 0*F. I hear Wisconsin is dreadful, as are the Dakotas.
I wish the rest of the country was as skillful at removing snow and ice as are those States with colder winters. The headline on CNN news when I woke up this AM was about an impending ice storm in GA. This was the NATIONAL headline. I suppose GA is like many parts of the West—they simply do not have the snow removal equipment to keep up with snowy, icy weather.
At any rate, Karen, do stay safe and as warm as possible.
Susanlynn, I am sorry the winter is getting you down. It sounds so rough.

I haven't finished reading all the comments but I had to stop and say Thank You for the awesome recap. It was very detailed and fun to read.
Madelaine,
ITA, Adolfito and Fina looked a little frazzled after that kiss. Was Adolfo acting? He is pretty good at fooling everyone, but maybe he can't fool himself. He might end up in love with Fina. She, OTOH. was not acting, but I'm not sure if she was surprised that Adolfito kissed her, or how it made her feel. I am guessing that she is inexperienced, and she might not have kissed many others. Also, she is probably feeling guilty because she is married, and feels she betrayed Dimi.
So glad that both Montse and Dimi stood up to their mother.
Note: Padre A, Macario, Victor and Angie were the voices of reason in this epi.
I know that many commenters think that it is stupid to have a duel between Ale and JL. The only thing I know is that this needs to happen already. I am tired of this back and forth sh**. The monkey writers have had us waiting long enough. I don't want anyone to get killed, I just hate waiting. This confrontation has to take place, and it better happen soon!
I think it was a mistake for Montse to go see Ale. I know she is only trying to help, but she might make things worse. He is already pithed enough. Her going over there, to plead for JL's life I assume, is only going to add fuel to the fire. Ale will only see this as Montse trying to protect JL, the man she loves. Montse should have sent Rosario to talk to Ale. That way she could tell him that she is his momma.
Much more to say, but I want to finish reading the comments.
Back to comments and work...hasta pronto!
But to Alejandro and not where Graceless can hear. Can you imagine her reaction?
So true about what Ale thinks of Mons and what he's called her to her face and other. She’d be crazy to even think about going back to him. What could he possibly do at this stage to redeem himself enough for her?
UA: I’m afraid even saving Mons and/or Little L wouldn’t be enough redemption for me. Perhaps I’m being too hard on him? ;)
Carlos: Liking your advice to Mons.
UA: “. . . anyone who has been underemployed for long enough will eventually come to the opinion that they don't deserve more. Don't ask me how I know.”—or me.
JuliaR: “Guess he's remembering what he did to Big Lauro, and figures he always needs to begin with a disclaimer when he talks to the terminally ill.”—too funny.
I can see Angie wanting JL and Mons to be together when she dies. She loves JL so much, she wants what will make him happy and she sees that as a life with Mons.
Yes, but for me she is so frustrating because she potentially could wield so much power and positive influence. Never underestimate the power of a mother... just look at Graciela.
Carlos
Of course as soon as Alejandro accepts this there will be a whole big thing over who sent Rosario to prison in the first place. Which may be unknowable and unfixable at this point.
Ale was an angry, dark soul even before he met Montserrat. I think the way things played out with her just triggered a lot of mental issues that were already lurking there.
Vivi...hmmm...Carlos's girlfriend in Alborada ...was that the irrepressible Perla ?
EJ..Thanks. Everyone around here looks a little dazed and confused at this point . I have started wearing bright colors. I am tired of wearing layers of clothes and piling on more layers to go outside. Bah...meh...boo...hisss We have gotten one snowstorm after the other. The kids love the snow days, but if we get many more , the schools will be going later in June. The college I teach at closed two days and had two compressed schedule days when classes ran 50 minutes instead of the usual 75 minutes. I am behind in what I am supposed to teach in a semester. The next storm starts tomorrow night and goes all day Thursday with 6 to 12 inches or more predicted.
"He's in such a perpetual rage, who knows how he will react?"
Who cares?
Padre Anselmo should arrange a meeting between the three of them:
"Alejandro, this is your mother."
How hard was that?
He already knows that his mother was raped by his father (note the ironic parallel between him and his son Laurito there). With learning the rest of her history is he going to turn on her? As for her being reluctant to reveal herself to him... his maniacal behavior hasn't really provided an environment conducive to that... has it?
So the answer is to keep treating him like some sort of unpredictable dangerous dog and continuing to tippytoe around him lest we displease him and invoke his rage?
If he rejects her, I'll bet there are lawyers in Mexico willing to take her case against don Benny's estate.
Carlos
Though I’m somewhat glad Mons and Ale are finally having a face-to-face, it’s probably not the best idea. Especially, as others have noted, she goes to plead for JL’s life.
Carlos: amen!
OT: The new Maria Elisa Carmargo (Pato-PEAM) looks very interesting. Starts next Tuesday on Telemundo. I'm going to tune into it and maybe scale back on this one if I like it well enough.
It wasn't exactly like he gave her encouragement to be close to him. I say again, Who cares? Either he is happy that his mother somehow managed to survive all those horrible things that happened to her... or not.
I'm fed up with Alejandro and the sooner he faces up to the truth... the better. Is he a confused but basically good guy or is he a self-centered lunatic?
Or is this all María's fault?
Carlos
So, you guys think that Montserrat is going over to plead JL's case with Alejandro?! Tell me it isn't so?! Could she REALLY be that stupid?!
Carlos, you have certainly brought up some excellent points: a) Montserrat needs to invoke her power as a mother and start using it (brilliant!) b) Rosario laying claim to Don Benny's estate! OH MY YES! I could slap myself upside the head!! OF COURSE, she could lay some claim to this. Why in the world didn't I see that?! I understand Rosario's feelings of shame, but this line of thinking has got to go and muy pronto.
Rosario and Montserrat could become a fighting force fearful to behold if they would only just WAKE UP.
Nanette, "Nessun Dorma" so powerful and I love it and can listen to it over and over again, especially with Pavarotti.
Karen, I can only imagine what you have been through for these long days. I only had to experience it once for 3 days and I never want to have to do that again. I'm glad you are here with us. :))
My "one true weakness" is NPR. As I was listening on the drive home today, I thought of all of our wonderful and INCREDIBLY talented recappers. "Marketplace" was talking about a website called: http://beta.ohyouhero.com/
I hope I wrote that link correctly. If not, Google "ohyou hero". Anywho, you talented writers should get paid for your work, so check out the website and THINK ABOUT IT. I am looking at ALL OF YOU. :))
Fatima
As far as Alejandro goes, I agree: who the bloody heck cares?!
Fatima
You can shove any DNA test in front of his stupid face and he will simply say it was faked, because as we all know, ALEJANDRO KNOWS IT ALL.
Fatima
He has absolutely no sense of humor.
He is extremely self-absorbed.
He seems to totally lack compassion.
He very rarely listens to other people.
He seems to be generally very unobservant (side effect of being so self-absorbed).
He has an extreme case of black-and-white thinking and nuances escape him completely.
He thinks he is the law.
Are jerks just confused people? Maybe at some level. Can it be "grown out of"? Who knows? Ale seems to have a terminal case of it. If it wasn't tempered at all by the provoked death of his father-in-law, a man he loved and admired, then it seems there is no hope.
