Que Pobres Tan Ricos #26- 2/10/14: What Will MA Do? Nepo and Guendy Have a Chisme Fest!

Hola Amiguis! This capitulo was very fast this evening including the dialogue. I did this recap mainly from memory so if I got something wrong please let me know.

It is Day 22 of MA being in the same suit. I took off a couple days because in the beginning he changed his suit quite often, before he went on the run that is. So I think it is Day 22 of the same suit.

MA and Saul are talking about the million dollars set aside for the Menchacas. MA really wants the Menchanca's house now. Saul tries to talk him down. Look what Don Chuy has done, not only for MA but his whole family. Saul says by trying to take this house away from them, by some nefarious means, and chucking them out in the street who's to say they won't turn around and turn him into the cops? Has he thought of that. Even Lupita, what about her? She's been so kind, along with her Papa! All MA can think about is getting back everything that was taken from him, his life in Londres, etc. Saul is the voice of reason, and MA clearly is not listening. Saul even asks MA if he is willing to sell the Menchaca down the river for his own benefit? Saul also mentioned that MA would be the villian of the piece. He wants things his own way. Talk about entitled!

Frida is trying to correct the wrong she did her Mama by chucking those wet clothes down on the floor. She apologizes again to AS who feels she will have an infarto, so many stresses. Frida hangs the clothes and Ruh, Roh, they are full of holes. I guess the Menchaca didn't have Woolite, cause these clothes are ruined. Frida shows AS and AS says from memory, there goes the blouse she bought in Tokoyo, and the one from Roma. Sigh! Frida digs out a mulit-colored dress for AS to put on, but it's really made for the beach. AS decides she and Frida will go to that charity shop where she wanted her clothes donated to try to get some of them back. AS will disguise herself so noone recognizes her. Leo comes into the shed and tells the ladies he wants to Blog about his miserable existence.

Saul is still lecturing MA on how bad a decision this would be if MA did this. Saul calls MA petulant and arrogant and he can't possibly put the Menchaca in the street. All MA wants is his previous life.

Diego makes a delivery to Guendy's shop. She thanks him and asks about the chisme of Lupe and Nepo. Guendy mentions she is really into My Name Is Mike (MA). She wants to know about the rest of the family staying with the Menchacas. Perla says they feel sorry for Granny Mati, Guendy thinks that Leo is gay, Frida is a fresa, I don't know if AS was mentioned. Deigo wants to know why the twenty questions? Just curious Guendy says.

We go now to the Bambi mobbed up guy. Vilma and Adolfo want him to sign that contract. It's excellent and a good opportunity to launder some dinero. I think Bambi signed it and Vilma pries the girl off Ahole and all three leave, that includes Adolfo.

Frida and AS take a cab to the charity shop. Frida ends up paying for the cab with some change she has. They can't take a cab back cause there is no money for that. AS suggests calling MA but Frida isn't doing it. They go into the charity shop, run by nuns, and don't see AS' stuff. So they ask about the donation made by AS and the lady goes to get it. The box doesn't contain AS' stuff. Its a mish mash of old clothes. AS curses those friends of hers that kept the good stuff. Speaking of which some women come in that AS knows and Frida and AS hide behind a rack of clothes to get out of there. They leave empty handed. They have to take a bus back to La Nopalera. Frida explains the minibus to AS. AS really doesn't want to get on but does. Frida pays the amount and the bus driver is eyeing her up and down like she's a tasty snack. AS and Frida stand the whole way cause the guys won't give up their seats for them and AS stands next to a big bruiser who has such bad BO that she almost faints. They also miss their stop and have to walk some. What an adventure.

Granny Mati and Leo are having a chat. He's oh, so miserable, he hates his life. He always wanted to be like Mattisse or Vivaldi! He thinks his only chance is to get with Macarena. Granny Mati is asking Leo if he is really in love with Macarena? Leo says he is, but he's clearly not! Granny Mati even tells him he isn't. Leo thinks Macarena is the only solution to getting out of this miserable, rotten situation he is in.

Adolfo and Vilma have a bit of a chat. Adolfo seems to like Vilma. He brings her a drink, tells her she's very pretty, and starts asking her a bunch of personal questions. She tells him she isn't into him, but he asks anyways. How about does she have a novio, or an amante even? No her novio is her work. He says he's got it, she's into Ahole isn't she? Too personal for her and she runs off.

MA is back at the Menchacas. He sees that balconey is fixed and Lupe is cleaning up. MA is jealous and asks how she likes being Nepo's novia? Will she be happier now and in a better mood? She gets annoyed and razzes him about Mini marrying Ahole and that Mini wasn't worth his time. MA is down in the mouth, and Lupe is going to take the trash out. MA should have offered to take it for her.

Ahole is messin' with one of Bambi's women he provided, and he's all in the mirror with no shirt on, flexing his muscles like Popeye saying how great he is. In comes Adolfo and they chat some more about this deal, how it's safe, won't touch them, it will all get blamed on MA, trust in Adolfo he tells Ahole and things will be just fine. They toast to Ahole's becoming the next president of El Editorial.

Finally, finally, the writers must have come by this Blog, nah, they are ahead of us in Mexico, cause now Granny Mati is giving MA a lecture on that suit MA has been in for the last 22 days. He needs to change it. He says he has nothing else. Granny tells him to borrow something from Leo for goodness sake but get out of that suit already! I don't think he likes Leo's choice of clothing. Granny Mati tells MA to get with the program. He is living a different life now, time to dress down, lead the simple life. It's a great life by the way she tells him. Yay, Granny.

Lupe is at the market handing out flyers for the Fonda and sees Nepo. She even gives him some flyers to give out to his customers. It's her form of advertising the Fonda. He wants to go out, but she says she's too busy. This angers Nepo who again offers his help to for anything she needs and she again turns him down. He tries to swoop in for a kiss, but she ignores him.

MA I think took a blanket from Granny, he complains about the cold in the shed. Granny asks about those papers she gave MA, ya know that million dollar one, and he tells Granny that soon, all might be right with the world. She thinks the papers were not good for anything.

Guendy goes to the market and talks to Nepo. She thanks him or wants to get some melon for her clients at the shop. Nepo tells Guendy all about Lupe not wanting his help. He's her novio, he wants to marry her and she won't let him help her. Guendy tells him he should know that Lupe likes to handle things in her own way, so if she wants no help let her be. Nepo is jealous of My Name Is Mike (MA) and can't understand him living in the same house as HIS Lupe. What about this family and how did they show up all of a sudden? Nepo is very suspicious cause Don C never mentioned them and now all of a sudden they are living with him. What gives? Guendy doesn't think anything is going on, between My Name is Mike and Lupe, they are cousins after all. Besides Guendy is really into My Name is Mike, and she laughs at Nepo's jealousy.

Don Chuy is in the Fonda and Lupe is setting up the tables and Carmelita is going to the kitchen to cook. Don C talks about those bouts he wants to hold. MA comes in and greets them and I think they will be eating seperately so as to avoid problems. Don C talks about the Lucha Libre matches and MA offers his "expertise" in money management. He'd like to give Don C advice and so forth. Don C doesn't need any such help, thank you very much. He just wants to make enough money to pay off the RP's so they can go. MA tries to press the point with he'll do it for free. Don C and Lupe too tell MA no, they can do it themselves. They just want to pay this debt so they can keep the house y punto! MA tells them okay, but if they need help just let him know. Don C tells him the only thing that helps him is praying to Dios and hey, MA ought to try that. He tells MA that Dios will provide that money to pay off this debt and Don C's work.

AVANCES:

Nepo is eating at the Fonda and sees MA eyeing HIS Lupe! Ruh, Roh. What will Nepo do? Tune in Este Martes, and Marta will tell you all about it. MUST SEE TV!

Good Morning Y'all,

The recap is up, please enjoy ; )

Madelaine, thanks for another winning recap and giving us the 22 day count on the MA suit. I really like how they are trying to make it look more grimy by the day.

Mati had such insightful interchanges with both MA and Leonardo. Now if they would just think about what she said.

AS going looking for her donated clothes "incognito" was priceless. Of course she would have to get stuck under that guy's armpit on the bus. That part was so funny but so true to life!

The funniest line of the episode was MA saying he had it all under control.

Was DaVinci MIA today? I don't remember seeing him.

Jarifa

Thank you Madelaine! I've only read the first paragraph but it looks like MA is being a jerk.

Thanks for the days in the suit count!

Thanks Mads! You did a fabulous job from memory.

I'm very disappointed in MA. He's learned nothing. I'm very grateful to Mati for pointing out that it's time for a change of clothes for MA. And when he does get some clothes it would be nice if he got some for Mati too, since she just has pjs.

Gwendy told Diego that Leo is obviously gay, and Diego looked very interested in this. Hmmmm... And when Mati was speaking with Leo about what he really wants to do with his life, where his talents and passions/loves lie, and about taking control of his own life, she said that it's important that we each understand our own nature. I thought that was an interesting use of words.

Thank you for the recap!
This is my first time commenting on this blog.

I too noticed how Diego was very interested in the Ruiz-Palacios.
And I think, especially in Leo.
Then Mati telling Leo about finding one's own nature....I think there were some subtle messages there.

Also I don't like that Miguel Angel is trying to take the house away from the Menchacas when they have helped him and his family so much.

Evelin

Thank you thank you, Mads! I was lost for much of last night. My Spanish was broken.

However, I did get where AS said to Frida, "I told you to use detergent, bleach, and softener - but not all at the same time!" Hahaha, but I wouldn't use any kind of bleach (much less chlorine bleach!) on most of those things anyway. During the laundry lesson last week (ain't seen it yet), did Lupe tell AS to wash everything with bleach? That is a good way to ruin your clothes prematurely.

All that hinting around about Diego and/or Leo's orientation. Heheh, subtlety is not a required characteristic of TNs; but perhaps we are being misled? (I always say that when I think something's too obvious, and I'm almost always wrong.)

Welcome, Evelin! As you probably know, we're all struggling with MA's bad behavior. I've been trying to cut him some slack for being "confused," and I was hoping he'd backpedal last night, but he didn't.

And MA REALLY lost me with his remark to Saul that he might, maybe, give Chuy a couple million pesos when all of this is over, like he'd be doing him a big favor giving him only a fraction of what he's entitled to, because it would be more money than they'd ever dreamed of having, and "poor people don't know how to handle money." What a jerk! Someone smack MA in the head with a coconut, stat!!

Good Afternoon Y'all and thanks for your kind words.

Jarifa:

I too laughed at Frida and AS' awesome adventure. That guy with the BO too funny with AS trying to move away and finding she can't. Oh, and Da Vinci wasn't in this epi. I didn't see him.

Vivi:

Thanks for more info. They were going so fast I couldn't catch it all. So do we think that Deigo is interested in Leo? They do seem to be kindred souls don't they. Agree with you about MA he is just too much already. It's all about him, just like another galan I know ; )

Evelin:

Welcome to Caray Caray. Join us here was we figure out how the RP's and Menchacas deal with each other. I agree with you about MA. Here really has no clue how to work with people. It's all about his needs and no one elses. I hope this is the start of his learning how to do that.

Sara:

I decided to put those in my recaps so we can keep track of how many days he is gonna wear that suit. It should be standing up on it's own already! And as Jarifa says, it gets more grimy every day!

Julie:

I get that too! About the Spanish being off some nights. I thought I was the only one ; ). Thanks for your added info. I guess MA thinks throwing the Menchaca a trinket will appease them so to speak. MA right now is an infeliz! I want to smack him upside the head. He should listen to what Granny Mati told him, the simple life is best!

Wasn't Vilma a hoot trying to fend off Adolfo? And those questions about her possible novio, too funny with that look on her face. Adolfo has her number.

I am so liking Granny Mati, she talks sense to everyone, and too bad they won't listen.

I'm a bit confused about his whole million dollar house thingy. This estimate was done years ago, so this house may not be worth this much now. Unless there is a physical amount in a bank somewhere that Don A set aside for them.

Thanks for another great installment Madelaine. I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to figure out what this million dollar assessment could be. Wasn't Grandma Mati talking about a castle too? The Menchaca place doesn't look like a castle so I started imagining there was something underneath, buried? Or maybe hidden inside the walls during construction?

Thanks for the welcome ladies.

The million dollar issue is complicated but this is what understood from it:
The attorney MA and Saul went to see told them that years ago Don Aureliano did some sort of
partnership with a construction company for a development in la Nopalera. That never happened
and instead the area was sectioned off and sold in lots except for the land where the Menchaca
house is. Don Aureliano set aside $1 million dollars for the owner of that property if they
could prove that they truly owned the place by having the title and something else (I missed that
part). I don't think the million is related to the value of the house. What I understood was that
don A. left it to whoever ended up owning the place. I also think they mentioned there is a clause
on Don A.'s will regarding the property.

Evelin

MA is deserves a massive slap or come down because of his superior attitude towards the Menchacas. He is easily becoming one of the most unappealing galans on record and god knows there have been some idiots along the way. He just doesn't get it. I detest his complete lack of respect for the hard working Menchacas.

I'm glad that Don Chuy isn't going to take him up on his "free" consultation services. Didn't Saul warn him about his arrogance? Mati certainly did. MA is deserving of some world class bitch slaps.

I think we are being hit over the head with the gay thing. First Guendy telling Diego although why is a mystery and then Mati advising Leo to be true to his real self.

I kept wondering if some of AS's old amigas would show up to donate and she be caught thousands of miles from her palazzo in Italia. The bus ride was too funny.

AHole is well an ahole. I kept waiting to see the hooker turn around and roll her eyes with his I'm such a stud behavior. Looks like Vilma has an admirer.

I think the million dollars were set aside PLUS there's some yet-undisclosed reason to believe the house is worth far more than it appraised for.

Like Fishknits says - maybe there's something like oil underneath, or gold bricks in the walls.

Though I wouldn't think it would be something you'd actually have to destroy the house to get to - I got the impression that Grandpa had some personal fondness for the place and didn't intend it to be torn apart.

I also thought I heard something last night from the lawyer about "half" of a document, like maybe it was torn in half and the two pieces kept in two different places. But there's a very good chance that I just heard a couple of words wrong and my imagination filled in the rest.

Decie - the hooker DID roll her eyes when Ahole turned his back. Did you miss it? It was really quick and we only got to see it from an angle, but you could tell she needed to take a break from all the fake smiling!

Thanks mucho, Mads!

What on earth did Frida wash those clothes in, sulfuric acid? Even bleach wouldn't have done that. I hope they tell MA about the charity shop where he can get a change of clothes. Come to think of it, there was a lot of nice stuff on those racks. Maybe I should shop there!

I've been peeved at MA for days, but I was rolling my eyes when he said the poor Menchacas don't know how to manage money. Seems to me they manage money much better than he and his family do! He is being such a selfish jerk. When even Saul, who suggested seducing Lupita for monetary benefit, tells you what you're doing is wrong...

Wasn't sure why Guendy was tapping Diego for the chisme, either. Perla lives in the madhouse. Surely she knows way more than Diego knows. Even if she isn't telling Guendy everything she knows.

I'm now making a game of finding things MA could use to stay warmer at night. In the morning, when he was talking to Mati, he was holding a towel (looked like he was headed to the shower). He couldn't use that as a blanket at night before using it to dry off in the morning?

I think Guendy is trying NOT to tap Perla for the chisme because she doesn't want the Menchacas to know that she's gathering intel on the RPs for herself and Nepo.

Evelin:

Thanks so much about the million dollar thingy. I think that explains it then, and what Julie says is true too. There is another document besides the deed they must produce in order to get that million. I knew about the land being parceled out an sold. I just can't understand what else that house has that makes it worth so much. I also think that money is lying in a bank somewhere building up interest.

Fishknits:

I think maybe Don A wanted to build a swanky neighborhood with a castle maybe, and it just never happened.

Decie, Saul did ask MA if what he was trying to do to the Menchacas was for need or greed?
Very telling that his own friend is seeing how he is acting. Too bad MA is not listening to anyone. He really needs a reality check right now.

Julie,

Yes, Lupe told Frida how to wash the clothes, with detergent, bleach and softener. Too bad Frida didn't check the label before washing, but then again, those items may have been meant to be dry cleaned. I think they would have been ruined either way.

Anon 1:53:

I don't know if you've commented before but welcome to Caray! So good to have you here. I agree with you, MA does need a reality check. Ya know this has been done to him the fraud, and now he wants to defraud someone else. He should think about that.

Julie

Those clothes sure were shredded. Maybe they got singed or burned when they landed on TJ's acoustic equipment.

MA is building up a nice little flight of anvils for his arrogance, his feeling of superiority especially re the money management comment. It doesn't seem to get through to him that the Menchacas make do with what they have, they don't throw it around which is in great contrast to the layabout RP's.

Donde está De Vinci

Julia:

Thanks about the towel, I thought it was a blankie, more's the pity. You are so right. He ought to go to that charity shop, in disguise of course, to pick up a few things. He can send Saul in there for goodness sake, as long as he gets rid of that suit! Never mind the suit though, I just thought of something else. What about his undies? O. M. G. he must really, really reek right now. He can take all the showers he wants but no change of undies, Ewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!

Mads thanks so much for your recap. So sad to see another galan going into the incredibly stupid mode. Like we say about Ale, I can understand the galan having a bad moment but when you want to defraud people and you have been defrauded, its just not right.

Thanks for this great recap, Madelaine. You guys are so wonderful to provide is with these each day.

Far and away the best scene in last night's presentation was AS's unfortunate confrontation with that armpit. It was also funny just before that when she was looking for a seat and was complaining that no men were giving up their seats for them... She asked:

"Are there no gentlemen?"

And a male passenger replied:

"Gentlemen, yes, lady, what's missing are seats."

The smell conjured up by that scene on the bus was so realistic that it was almost gag inducing but I could spend all day in Nepo's market or the kitchen at the restaurant or even that Chinese restaurant.

Carlos

YES!! I just realized what I'm going to have for dinner the night of the gran final: Chinese food!

Madelaine, thanks for the recap. Last night's show had some good laughs. When AS had her nose shoved into that guy's bare armpit it really did make me laugh out loud.

And Bambi's girl expression after being with Ahole---she looked like Minerva. Same expression, different face. Very amusing.

My take about what happened at the real estate office: both the deed to the house and the papers MA already has from the broken bust are needed to find out about the additional clause and possibly have access to the million dollars that has been set aside in trust. So MA already has half of what he needs.

I actually felt bad for Leo last night while he talked to Mati. He seemed like a lost little boy

Lupe should really apologize to Nepo and cut him loose. Nepo should really see how things are and end it while his self-respect is still intact.

Welcome Evelin. Stick around for awhile!

Where is DaVinci???

Barbara

Ahhhh... so I did hear "half" in that conversation somewhere. I just connected the dots wrong. ;-) Thanks, Barbara!

Julie, note my disclaimer: "my take about what happened" Believe me, the other half could have been a cute little dog that wears clothes....but my Spanish wasn't good enough to figure it out! :)
