De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #10- Fri 3/21

De que la descubrieron, la descubrieron

Carmen gets cuffed, which triggers a melee assault by the entire family.  Wow!  The kid playing Lupita is doing a fabulous job…red in the face and everything.  Eleazar doesn't help when he tells the kids their mom has "committed a crime."  Dude, yeah, you found drugs in her bag, but that doesn't automatically mean she had anything to do with it.  Diego shows up and sees Natalia, et al, arguing with the cops who were assigned to make sure they didn't bust their mom out.  Diego tries to help when he sees Natalia on the verge of getting cuffed, but she screams at him that he's bad news.  The Garcias take advantage of Diego providing this distraction and make a run for it, but the car they've packed Carmen into is already taking off.  Diego gets the precinct number and runs for his car.

Vicente makes an oily-sounding call to the bank to have them drop the charges against Irene.  Vicente and Irene get into yet another fight at the car and he ends up leaving her in the middle of the street.

Irene goes to Cristobal's gallery and gets the security guard to let her in.  Tadeo's paintings are still there and Irene starts destroying the canvases.  The security guard has no idea what she did, he just calls Cristobal for the sake of telling him that Irene is waiting for him.  He tries to give the phone to Irene, but she just disconnects the call.

Carmen is taken to an interrogation room, where she takes the opportunity to yell at Eleazar, since she's sure he's on the other side of the glass.  Morales tries to talk her down, saying it can be used against her, but Carmen's too upset, believing this is something personal and Eleazar is abusing his position to get back at her for something.  She breaks down and starts pleading with him instead, begging him to let her out.  Carmen finally calms down enough to start telling Morales that she packed the bags herself and they were a gift from her boyfriend.  Eleazar fumes to Jackie that the bastard set her up.  Since Carmen gives them Carlos' name, Eleazar tells Jackie to get all the info she can on him, but he's not going to let Carmen go until they have some proof.  Cause "the law is the law."

The Garcias are at the police office.  Most of them are pissed at Eleazar.  Natalia suspects that Carlos has something to do with this.  Diego shows up and asks a cop about Carmen's case.  Even he doesn't believe she's a drug runner.  Padre Juancho shows up and Eleazar comes in to tell them what he found.  Brigitte swears she helped Carmen pack the bags and there was nothing in them.  Eleazar says they have to find proof of her innocence before they let her go.  He suspects Carlos, too, but none of the kids know where to find him.

Grumpy Grandpa calls the office, looking for Diego, and finds out from Karina that no one picked up the Johanssons, but they're at their hotel now.  He has to do some sucking up and sends his chauffeur to pick them up and bring them to the office.

Diego calls Alberto because he needs his help as an"abogado" (lawyer).  Oh, this is excellent!  Alonso has the "s" of "physician" and Alberto has the "b" of "abogado."  Yeah, I'm feeing pretty smart right now.

Out in Miami, Car-Louse is hanging out in the hotel room.  He finds out that neither the drugs, nor his "mule" showed up on the flight.

Cristobal shows Tadeo the shredded paintings.  He doesn't want to press charges or file an insurance claim.  He thinks this is just the price he's paying for having been ignorant of an important situation.  He's leaving soon, and all he wants to do is pack up the pieces and take them to New York with him.

Eleazar comes to Carmen's cell.  She babbles about the identical bags at check-in and how the drugs aren't hers.  Eleazar tells her she's been used, like other women, but Carmen doesn't want to believe it.  She breaks down and sobs in Eleazar's arms.  Too bad the scene doesn't last long.  Eleazar has to take a minute to pull himself together in the hallway, lamenting that Carmen had to fall for the scumbag.  He swears he'll catch Carlos and make him pay.

Alberto shows up and tells the kids he's going to be handling Carmen's case.  He tells the family he's going to help them because he's interested in her case, and asks them not to worry about his fees.

Luz shows up to yell at Eleazar for arresting Carmen.  He explains to her that even though he doesn't think she did it, the evidence is pointing to her and he can't release her until he finds some evidence they can use to nail Carlos.  As Jackie walks in, he asks Luz to go be with the kids.  Jackie breaks the bad news…there is no "Carlos Pereyra."

Alberto calls Diego to tell him that the Garcias accepted his offer and he figures Diego will explain everything later.

Carlos calls the Garcia house later, but gets the answering machine.  He wonders if maybe Carmen got caught, but he's not going to call her call to find out.  He calls Shrimp instead.

Alberto visits Carmen in her cell and explains that he's a private lawyer, he's not worried about his fees, and he needs her to be honest with him so he can help her.  Carmen tells Alberto about the bags and reminisces about the prior bad boyfriends she's had.  Alberto has Carmen sign some paperwork so that he can act on her behalf and says he'll see what he can do about getting them to let the kids in to see her.

Brigitte comes back from a snack run and hears that there's a lawyer on the case.  She suspects he's just trying to make a buck off of them, but the boys tell her that they decided to take the risk.  Lupita thinks he had a nice face, so she believes in him.

Shrimp has bad news for Carlos…his "mule" "screwed up" and got caught.  Shrimp accuses him of picking the wrong woman and letting his hormones get the better of him.  Carlos says he'll call the boss and explain.  From his outburst after he hangs up, The Shrimp's instincts about Carlos' feelings for Carmen are as good as his fashion sense is bad.

Eleazar comes back to Carmen's cell to ask what she knows about Carlos--where he lived, what he did for work.  All she knows is he was from Spain, he was a widower…and she has no idea what he did for a living.  When Eleazar finds out she has his cell phone number, he asks her to call him and pretend she missed the flight.  Since it goes directly to voicemail, he assumes Carlos already knows she was picked up.  He can't resist yelling at her yet again about being naïve and only looking for a guy, any guy.  She smacks him for that.  You had it coming, Eleazar.  Just saying.

Natalia is sure they're not going to let Carmen out today.  Padre Juancho counsels patience and faith.  Abdul makes plans to open the fonda tomorrow, since they'll need money for the lawyer.  Natalia talks about getting food and clothing for their mom.  Go, Team Garcia!

Irene comes home and has another argument with Vicente.  After she accuses him of thinking she's a "carga" (burden) and she calls him a "lastre" (dead weight) and runs upstairs, he has some chest pain.  Called it.

Alberto argues with Eleazar's boss to let the kids visit Carmen.

Irene is packing when Lala says that Alonso is on the phone for her.  They had a therapy appointment, but she's decided to go back to Monterrey.  She hangs up before he can talk her out of it.

Eleazar beats himself up for yelling at Carmen again.  Eleazar and Jackie are both convinced that if they can get The Shrimp, they can get Carlos.  Eleazar thinks Jackie will be the perfect mule at this point…they'll be desperate to send another shipment.  But he doesn't want her to call.  He wants The Shrimp to come to her.

Carmen gets escorted to the interrogation room for a short visit with just Natalia and Abdul.  Alberto excuses himself to give them some privacy.  Carmen tells the kids not to get down, to just keep going.  Brigitte comes running in.  Carmen tells the three of them they're responsible for the younger kids.  Natalia needs to organize the kids to do the housekkping, Abdul needs to take charge of the fonda, and Brigitte needs to look after Lupita.

Lupita is sad that she couldn't see her mom today.  She notices the lawyer talking to "that guy who's stalking Natalia."  Luz brushes it off and buys Lupita off with cookies.  Alberto fills Diego in on the case and says he'll give it everything he's got.

The Shrimp and Carlos both see a news report about Carmen's arrest, complete with Eleazar and Jackie leading her away.  Now they know Jackie's a cop.  Carlos calls The Shrimp and puts the blame on him.  He demands The Shrimp explain it to the boss.  And he will, after he extracts some payback.  Crrrrrap.

Lupita tells Natalia that she saw the lawyer talking to Diego.  She goes outside to investigate.

Eleazar tries looking through their database, but he doesn't see a picture of Carlos.  The Shrimp calls Jackie to set up a date.  She and Eleazar think The Shrimp is going to surprise her with a trip somewhere.

Natalia sees Diego talking to Alberto and accuses him of trying to use her mother to hurt her.

Monday: Natalia accepts Diego's job offer…or possibly she goes to his office to yell at him some more.

okkkkkkkk...so maybe Monday the misunderstanding between Diego and Natalia will be cleared up? Finally?

We can only hope!

Another great recap, 5ft. Thanks. Car-louse is perfect!

I kinda feel bad about the stuff I said about Carmen earlier today. She looked really sad and pitiful in that jail cell. Boy, Eleazar was a grade A jerk to her.

Kat, a pivotal episode which you covered splendidly. An excellent recap full of details and great humor, "oily-sounding call" and " Car-louse" were among my favorites.

Carmen seems to be an honest, emotional woman who loves her children deeply but follows her heart quickly and without much thought to consequence. She had no idea what Carlos did for a living? That's dating 101. She certainly isn't the typical heroine, but I kind of like that. Agree Sara, she looked smaller than life and heartbroken.

I was surprised Carlos was unmasked so early and further surprised that Jackie would reveal herself as a policewoman while working undercover. I fear for her.

Alberto is adorable. Much too good to waste away as a minor player here. Hope he gets more of a storyline.

Looking forward to "Natalia accepts Diego's job offer…or possibly she goes to his office to yell at him some more". Either or, both work for me!

Thanks again Kat!

Gracias 5ft

There is no bail in a novela, I hope that's not really the case in Mex. Carmen has to stay in jail until proven innocent???????!!!!!!, and no one believes she is guilty, not even the cops.

After DQTQTQ we'll have"El color de la pasión" with Erick Elias & Esmeralda Pimentel (Diana) as protagonistas.
Esmeralda was Kenia in Abysmal de pasión. Erick was Rogelio in Porque el amor manda.

OMG, this thing has 186 chapters, 5ft can you last that long?

La malquerida is after Por siempre mi amor. I will not be watching the wailing Victoria Ruffo.

Gracias, all!

Pobre de Carmen! As weepy as she was, I admire the way she pulled it together and gave the kids their assignments. She's very much a do-er. Every crisis, she doesn't just weep and wail and "why me?!" she figures out what has to happen now and gets on it. Zipper breaks...change the dress; daughter's going to be accused of a crime she didn't commit...get her on a bus; business in Tuxpan sucks...sell it and move to DF; arrested for something she didn't do...tell the kids to buck up and take care of business. I can respect that.

What in the heck was Jackie even doing at the airport?! Undercover means undercover, dudes!

I've seen them mention bail sometimes, but sometimes not. The rule seems to be that if it's pretty clear the accused is guilty, they go straight to jail or prison and have a trial later. The explanation on this one seems to be "there were drugs, someone has to be blamed for that, she's the only one we've got to blame," plus the fact that, according to Eleazar, even if she didn't know the drugs were there and didn't put them there herself, she's still guilty of the crime of smuggling. Which I think is a stupid rule.

Next week, Sara is taking over on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so that will give me a little bit of a break. The first 2 weeks of April, I'm tentatively scheduled to be on set for a video series in the evenings, so recaps will be late, or minimal, or there will only be discussion pages. After that, who knows. 186 episodes, huh? Well, we'll just play it by ear.

Thanks, 5ft. I missed this episode so I was especially grateful for your recap.

I , too, respect Carmen for not just sitting and weeping when **** happens. Even though she does not seem to be a good judge of characters ( all those baby daddies), she is pragmatic and does whatever needs to be done to clean up the bad as best as possible and move forward. She just has to be less gullible and trusting. At least she has not become bitter due to all the guys she kissed who did not turn out to be princes. ...just frogs. She is still a loving person despite the bad experiences she has had. It will be interesting to see what happens from this point on.

I've seen the first episode of El Color de La Pasion. It has some serious promise (and not just because it's by Roberto Gomez Fernandez. However all his novelas are wonderful i.e- Para Volver a Amar, El Juego de la Vida, Cachito de Cielo, Locura de Amor)

I would love to see La Malquerida but it feels like it's going to be Corona de Lagrimas II. I wanna hold on to PSMA as tight as I can since the villains are the ones who really steal the show LOL
