De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #2- Mon 3/11

De que las cosas se complicaron, se complicaron!

The fact that Natalia and Diego just met yesterday make it easy for Rodrigo to pretend to be his brother, though she does notice the difference in kisses.  She just thinks he's being silly.  When Diego catches up to her later, he doesn't explain being on a bicycle or wearing a different shirt.  He's just glad to find her alone, so he turns back around to go confront Rodrigo.  Rodrigo keeps insisting on playing his little sicko twin game and wants to "share" Natalia.  Diego decides to enlist the help of the Bro Boys to lock Rodrigo in the room while he's taking a shower.  He's ultimately released by Diego's not-girlfriend and her friend who have shown up to crash Diego's vacation.

Due to a wardrobe malfunction (Carmen's zipper ripped), most of the family is late getting to the coronation.  Just as they're about to arrive, Carmen gets into a hair-pulling match with two older broads who accuse her of canoodling with Padre Juancho and she gets hauled off to the police station.  Natalia can't get them to delay the coronation any longer, so she gets crowned in all her hot pink, ruffly, sparkly glory.  Diego shows up to claim the first dance with her AND the answer to his question from the night before…Natalia has decided she'll be his girlfriend.  In-conveniently, Rodrigo shows up wearing the same white shirt Diego is wearing, and he's got Diana the stereotype and her BFF in tow.

One of the Bro Boys drags Diego away to deal with Diana  ("But I luuuuurve you!"  "But we're not together, so go away!") and this leaves an opening for Rodrigo to lure Natalia away from the crowd.  She's not a fan of being treated like a piece of meat and fights him off, but he catches up to her.  Andres hears the screams and shows up to vent all his "But I luuuuuuurve you!" frustration on Rodrigo.  It's less his pugilistic skills and more a well- (or badly-)placed branch that kills him.  Goodbye, Rodrigo.   We hardly knew ye and we liked ye even less.  Natalia and Andres freak right the heck out and decide to make a run for it.

Carmen might have gotten released right away by the police chief…if he hadn't said "That's what EVERYONE is saying"…and if he hadn't been close enough for Carmen to reach through the bars to slap him.  She eventually gets released when the two old biddies drop charges, though she refuses to apologize to them.

Diego can't find either Natalia or Rodrigo, but he feels a disturbance in the force and gets the Bro Boys to help with his search.  When the Garcias show up, Carmen is the only one concerned about not seeing Natalia, while Brigitte leads the charge to the dance floor.

Andres deals with his post-accidental-murder-guilt by doing tequila shots and signing up to ship out with the crew of a guy who bought fish from him that morning.

Carmen goes home to find a weeping Natalia, who tells her that Diego tried to rape her and Andres killed him.  She calms down enough to give Carmen the details and explain that Andres didn't kill him on purpose.  Carmen's advice: run.  She goes to call Padre Juancho to prepare him for Natalia's arrival.  Andres pops in to let Carmen and Natalia know that he's shipping out in the morning.  Carmen and Natalia both thank him for defending Natalia.

Diego and the Bro Boys find Rodrigo out in the woods with a gaping head wound.  They load him up in the car and go looking for a hospital, but a friendly local tells them the closest one is two hours away.  Rodrigo's still hanging on and the hospital they found doesn't have the capacity to treat him.  One of the Bro Boys calls for an airlift out.

Natalia leaves on the first bus out in the morning, with only her mom and one of her brothers to see her off.  Carmen refuses to tell him why Natalia's leaving like this, but he can tell something's up.  When Natalia arrives at Padre Juancho's new place (which looks like an exact replica of his old place), she tells him what happened.  She admits, though, that she can't be sure he's dead, but they ran to avoid what they were sure would be an unfair police investigation.  Carmen's godmother (who is apparently also Natalia's godmother) ended up caving in to her son, so she's also in the DF.  She stops by Padre Juancho's when she hears that Natalia is in town.

In the hospital waiting room in DF, we find out that Rodrigo and Diego's grandpa is a classist jerk who basically thinks something bad was bound to happen in a backwater like Tuxpan, with the savages who must live there.  The doctor doesn't have good news for them.

Diego goes to the police station to give a statement, with grumpy grandpa Vicente backing him up and demanding justice "at any cost."  Back at what I assume are the offices of the family business empire, Vicente forbids Diego from going back to Tuxpan to conduct his own investigation.  Grandpa won't listen when Diego tells him Rodrigo was perfectly capable of getting into trouble on his own and grandpa can't hold Diego responsible for Rodrigo's behavior.  Diego calls the house in Tuxpan and asks the maid to track down Natalia.

Tomorrow: Diana makes her own call to Tuxpan to try to keep Diego and that filthy townie apart.

Eh, so maybe he's not dead.

After meeting grandpa Vicente, I'm thinking Carmen was right to tell Natalia and Andres to make a run for it. He seems like the type to lynch first and ask questions later.

Great recap! Thanks for getting the premiere week started.

While I'm not convinced Juan Diego C is bound for galán glory, I do like him. Right now I think he did a better job in UFCS, but I will give him more time. I'm kind of glad Rodrigo is out of the picture (tho I doubt dead....would they really waste a twin plot like that.) JDC cannot do villain.

I'm still giving this one a chance since it got such good ratings. I certainly have not learned the lesson CI's ratings tried to teach me.

Cynthia Klitbo is fun to watch. Cachito de Cielo was the first time I saw her for an extended period (sorry, the El Privilegio de Amar DVD didn't give me enough to tell) and I really liked her.

JDC was slimy enough as Yago in AMOR BRAVIO. I think he'll do just fine.

Oh. I didn't see Amor Bravio.

Many thanks again, Kat!

JDC was great as a cad in Amor Bravio and great as a spoiled mama's boy in Familia. But in this, so far, his evil twin is just a stereotype, and the galan is bland. Hopefully, now that he can concentrate on just the galan for a while, he can give Diego more depth.

Esmeralda P. is also a good actress, but they have given her nothing to work with so far with the jealous ex girlfriend role.

Kat- ITA. Now that we met grandpa, the decision for Nat and her friend to run doesn't seem so stupid. I believe Nat left her crown behind at the crime scene.

At this point we don't know who Nat's bio parents are. We know what that means-- she'll turn out to have a rich bio family and will become rich some point in the story. Not a spoiler. Just obvious plot development-- CI, CCEA, Refugio, etc.

Random fact: The actor playing Padre Juancho is Lucia Brito's (Natalia) real life dad, Rolando Brito. Must be cool to be in a tn with your parent.

Livia not Lucia, Tablet!

Oh that's cool! Thanks for that tidbit!

I'm re-watching the episode and I'm a little annoyed that Diego just biked away when Natalia wondered 1. How he got the bike and 2. Why he changed shirts. Why didn't he explain right then?

Ah well. Had he done that we wouldn't have a show, would we?

Gracias, all, for the feedback!

This is terrible! I recapped Amor Bravio and I didn't remember Yago. I had to go back and read the recaps to find out what happened to him. JD is good at being giddy as Diego, a complete ass as Rodrigo, but he needs to work on the rest of his range of emotions. Last night when the doctor came in to give them the "bad news" he had some bizarre expression on his face. He was trying really hard for "concerned" but a man does "concerned" differently than a child and he had too much of a child's pout for me.

I'm loving Cynthia Klitbo as the feisty mama!

Kat- Yes, Yago. Alone, penniless, using his precious Dionisio bribe watch to pay the the barman for his tequila, and never knowing his child that will be raised by another/better (much hotter) man.

So there's hope for a better performance out of JDC. Good to know.

So far, I don't think these younger actors are getting very good direction, because they do have talent.

I think Livia is doing a great job portraying the happy-go-lucky (until the attempted rape) Natalia. She has a beautiful huge smile and the camera loves her.

And I adore Cynthia. Loved her going after those old gossips and slapping the cop. I thought it was rather sacrilegious of them to accuse her and the priest of having a sexual relationship. Bet they would have never accused Padre Juancho to his his face like that. I do wonder why the Padre is so close to their family. I almost thought he was part of their family, an uncle of something, that first episode.

Well most of Tuxpan seems pretty nasty toward Carmen. Could it be that Padre Juancho was sort of a buffer? The madrina seemed like that as well. Luckily Carmen' rep hasn't hurt her fonda business.

It's kind of odd that everyone is kind of hung up in the 4 baby daddies but at the same time the kids seem well adjusted and everyone seems to like Natalia. Also odd that more hasn't been said about Natalia not being a "real" Garcia.

Lol...yes, the good and sanctimonious people of Tuxpan know what side their bread is buttered on...and they get that bread at the fonda "Los 6 Garcia." Boy are they going to be bored and hungry when Carmen and her brood leave town.

I keep meaning to say that the one scene with Marcelo and Cynthia last night was great.

Hopefully the younger actors will start bringing more to the table.

I like the sweet chemistry between Livia and JDC.

JDC also looked physically different as Yago. Even though he played upper class jerks in both this and AB, he just looked greasy and sleazy in AB, which suited his character.

He can't be worse than Sandra Echevarria in LLFD. I'm enjoying it, so far.

Anon 207
Sandra Echevarria even won the award for best actress for that one.

She did?! That's just crazy.

Since Anon207 is admitting it, I'll admit it, too. I'm kinda liking this one.

I can't resist Marcelo, and am looking forward to him letting go his resentment about Carmen choosing any and EVERY man except him, and doing some real wooing of her. I am also very much enjoying Cynthia, the actress who plays her madrina, and I even like the actor playing the cranky/mean grandpa from previous tns. I think Livia is delivering in the protag role (I think she has heaps more charisma than Maite Peronni, for example). I know Esmeralda P. can bring it, and JDC has potential. I hope the writers and director start to shape their roles better. All in all, I'm giving this a thumbs up, so far.

I enjoyed Amorcito Corazon so much that I have the same hopes. We are dealing with a cast that has a lot of potential.

thanks, 5ft...I will give this one a chance. The lesson to be.learned from this episode is : If a friend knocks your attacker out and you both think that he is dead, DO NOT leave your tiara behind.

Evil Abuelo played the mayor in Alborada. He turned out to be a good guy in that role.

I am not impressed by the galan or the villain (same guys, but I love Marcelo Cordoba and I think I saw him dancing in one of the promos....so...I am in for now.

The promos made it look like a kids' show, all fluff. I'm still hoping we get into some substance. Or at least more screen time for Marcelo :D

Variopinta,

the WALL Ivan was making out with was more exciting than Lucia/Sandra.

Blechh

I suspect most of the substance will come from Marcelo and Cynthia. Most of what I've read about it, it looks like typical stereotypical stuff. However what I've read was written when this first started so I'm interested in where this will go.
