De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero - Synopsis

[This one starts next Monday, 3/10/14]

Natalia and Diego meet during a festival of Tuxpan Veracruz fishermen, where Natalia will be crowned queen.  Love springs forth from the first instant in which they see each other.  Both are completely ignorant about who each is, which is no obstacle when beginning their romance.

For this reason Natalia doesn’t learn that Diego has a twin brother, Rodrigo, who has competed all his life with him.  He, when learning about his brother’s new romance, has no qualms about impersonating him. And, the night of Natalia’s coronation he shows up as his brother, Diego.

Innocent Natalia lets herself get carried away until she discovers that the only intent of the supposed “Diego” is to take advantage of her sexually.  Fortunately for her, her friend, Andres, appears to defend her; but in the fight, Rodrigo falls down, hitting his head.  Andres and she think he’s dead.  However, Natalia confesses the truth to Carmen, who sends her to live in Mexico City.

Diego is left thinking that Natalia only toyed with him and ran off with another man since he doesn’t see her again.  Two years later, the Garcia family decides to leave and relocate in Mexico City.  Carmen who has been a fighter all her life and does whatever it takes to insure her children get ahead, doesn’t bother to question proceeding on to the capital with her native Veracruz style food business (restaurant, store?).

Natalia finds work at Caprico Industries and is reacquainted with Diego Caceres, who is vice president of the company.  At first, Natalia flees from him, realizing that she didn’t kill him, but terrified that he might again want to abuse her to get even with her.  Diego pursues her looking for an explanation of her disappearance from the town.

Once they manage to clarify things half-way, they cannot start the affair over because Diego is married to Diana.  Natalia decides to separate herself from him and Caprico Industries, but Carmen is victim of a drug trafficker who tricks her and because of it, she goes to jail.  The only way to get her out of there is by accepting Diego’s help.

This is where I stop, or I’ll give away the whole plot!  Also, anybody interested in recapping this one just let Melinama know at caraycaray"at" mappamundi.com or let me know via the envelope icon or just post at the bottom here.  Tks in advance!!

Por Siempre Mi Amor is being moved to 11am and this tn will be shown in 2 hour blocks right off the bat-- 7-9pm.

Lovely.....Well, what else would we expect? However, on the bright side, that might mean that Qiero Amarte will be heading into that 8pm spot shortly.

Wow, was PS doing that poorly? This one just didn't catch my interest either in the previews or synopsis. Jardinera, may you be right. I would so much rather wait for something, anything with De La Fuente in it.

Daisynjay

Jardinera: I heard tha Qiero Amarte was doing poorly in Mexico. Would they still bring it here?

They've brought badly performing novelas in before and they do well here. It's always a crap shoot. At least PSMA is being moved to daytime and not midnight like CS2009. It must be doing awfully badly. I bailed several weeks end because I just hated all the characters, the leads were boring and there was just nothing appealing about it but feel sorry for people who stuck with it.

Yeah PS is doing very badly in Mexico. In the USA it's doing better than Pobre but PTR is a success in Mexico so that maybe be why they don't move it yet.

Quiero Amarte is starting on April 7th.

I read somewhere that Quiero Amarte is 200 episodes long, maybe longer. If that's true, I don't want to recap it. It's difficult enough to commit to 150. 200 is ridiculously long.

I haven't been following any of the other shows that are on right now, so I'm content to do this one. I mean, sometimes the worst shows lead to the best recaps :D But it doesn't sound like we have enough for a team.

Right now, the TV Guide on my DVR shows DQTQTQ for only 1 hour at the earliest time slot.

I'm willing to give this one a shot, but it's also pretty long, too. (I think 180+ episodes.) 2hours out of the gate sort of turns me off, too.

Can anyone confirm the teams on the other shows? I think in the past, what we've done is, if there's another show that actually has a decent viewership and isn't being adequately covered, recappers are encouraged to join that team rather than having 2 shows that are barely being watched also barely being recapped.

Hey Kat,

I am the team leader on Pobres, the 10pm TN and we could sure use some recappers. We have Julie and I doing alternate Mondays, Marta is doing Tuesdays and Fridays, Julie is doing Wednesdays and I am doing Thursdays. We have been doing this since it started. I hope some of the other recappers will come and help us out!

Jardinera: thank you for the terrific summary.

I have already noted on the Por Siempre Mi Amor line how unhappy I am with the time change. This leaves those of us unable to watch and without dvr's high and dry (on demand my only option). It's frustrating to watch so many episodes to have the show yanked off due to Looneyvision's continuing scheduling nightmares. Needless to say, I can only imagine how our dedicated recappers who have devoted so much time and effort feel. As you noted Decie, moving CS was a nightmare. I also watched Gancho for 150 episodes before they banished that to daytime. What a disaster..

I know it is not De Que Te Quiero's fault and I am intrigued by Cynthia Klitbo and Marcelo Cordoba (sigh). I am watching Lo que la vida me robó and would like to include this but 2 hours would be difficult long term. Would like to watch initially and sincere thanks to all those volunteering to recap.

Diana

For now, my first choice would be to stick with DQTQTQ for the earlier time slot and Marcelo Cordoba. I'm ok with keeping Thursday night.

If we don't pull a team together, I'll consider coming in mid-story on Pobres. I'm just not sure I want to go back to a late show. I hadn't done an early-evening one before...I think I got a little spoiled! Thank you for letting us know what the situation is, Madelaine.

Quiero Amarte is being moved to daytime like in LMDV's timeslot.

BTW Triunfo del Amor is being replayed on the 10th!

I might like this one, though I am more curious about Quiero Amarte, even though it's doing badly.

Oh, this is a true mess!
PSMA isn't doing that bad, they should keep it where it is if they committed to it.

I guess we're all waiting for Quiero Amarte, then? That show will have at least 2 teams of recappers (CI style), which will come in handy if it's that long. I love Carlos Moreno and the lady writers that work with him, but the secondary plots sometimes tend to take over and things start draaaagging.
Is it sure that it will air in the middle of the afternoon? It's not doing that bad in Mexico, although a huge succes it ain't.
Beware, DQTQTQ is long, too, it has about 180 episodes!!!

De Que Te...will have 186 total episodes. It ends in Mexico on March 16th.

Supposedly Quiero Amarte had some problems between Karyme and Cristian. Cristian was mad because she wasn't ready for a scene (most likely a lovin' scene) so he is dropping out but Karyme is willing to pull a Victoria Ruffo (think Triunfo del Amor) and work with her galan solely due to professionalism.

You know, if they're dropping out in what has been such a short-lived so far novela lke this, I wonder how they got along so well in Sonar No Cuesta Nada which was 195.

What do you mean by dropping out?

By dropping out I mean he is quiitng in general.

Jardinera654:

I sent you a reply. Please check your email : )

I read somewhere that QA would be aired in the US at 3pm starting April 7, and that recently cast members were not getting along, so the writers were going to rewrite parts of the plot. Apparently things were bad enough that something had to give as it was affecting others in the cast and even being blamed for bad ratings. I didn't see mention of anyone quitting per se, but just that the plot was going to be 'adjusted'.

Please delete this if it is too spoilerish.

I'm bummed about the afternoon air time, if that is really what is going to happen. I've been looking forward to this TN for some time. So with all these changes and new shows, what will the new evening line up look like? I'm confuzzled.

I haven't followed QA too closely, because I didn't want to be spoiled on the story, but the few times that I checked CdlF's twitter account, I never saw him mention KL or have pictures taken with her. So I figured they might not be very friendly, but work is work.
I don't see him dropping out (even if only emotionally) because he's a professional and he really wanted to repeat the working team he had for AB.
Maybe the first time around he and KL were ok, but now, due to her new found beliefs, she can't have the same easiness with love scenes.

I guess i will have to watch Quero Amarte again.. It seemed so boring to me at first but everything deserves a second chance right and i like Flavio Medina! He better not be a relative of Pedro Medina! jk xD

Rodrigo sounds like a real jerk but i guess he got the big smack he deserved!

I was just looking at the ratings for Quiero Amarte and they have been going up. Who knows what Uni will decide!

But for the immediate future, we will have Por Siempre on in the morning (thank you dvr), and DQTQTQ on for 2 hours each evening. Uni has to be pretty confident it will pull in, and keep, an audience to give it 2 hours right off the bat.

Robo is doing very well in both Mexico and the US. Anyone know how Pobres is doing in both markets? 10pm is such an odd time for a family comedy!

As for the drama on Quiero Amarte-- I’m sure there are many times actors have issues with each other and they keep going, because it’s their job (I’m looking at you FC from PEAM). CdlF has been in the biz a long time, and I can’t see one of the main protags leaving mid-way. Karym has been very vocal about her religious conversion, and even dropped out of tns for a time because of it. I’m not sure how they are working around any intimate scenes she would be opposed to doing, but she must have discussed this with the producer and director before they started filming, right? The only shame is that the on screen chemistry has likely suffered because of these tensions.

Vivi...Was FC unhappy with PEAM? As much as I love him, I could not stand watching him it that weirdness. It was bizarre. I hope that he comes back in a good novela soon.

Pobres is doing good in Mexico. Robo is number one, but Pobres is a close second in most nights. The ratings are somewhere between 22 and 24 points normally.

De que te quiero... was kind of a sleeper hit with the audience; the young, inexperienced leads didn't attract much interest at the beginning but apparently they were fresh and had chemistry together.

Susanlynn- FC and Jorge Aravena (an audience favorite) had issues with each other. They apparently couldn't work it out like adults and Jorge had to go, causing all kinds of shenanigans with the plot.

I don't know how PSMA is doing in the states but it was okay here at the begining, getting around 15 pts which people believed were bad after CI but those were actually okay for a 4 pm novela. Then after the baby got killed the ratings got killed as well and now their numbers go up and down sometimes but never to a true satisfactory level. I'm always weary when it's said that a plotline affects the ratings but I think this was the most clear example of that.

DQTQTQ was very successful and I think it's cute and has its charm, mainly in its secondary cast. But it's been on for so long that I don't know what the story is about anymore and it needed to be over a couple of months ago.

I found Quiero Amarte's pacing to be very slow at the begining so I couldn't stay with it. It's not doing that bad ratings wise, it's actually doing well for its timeslot but being in between DQTQTQ and QPTR makes them look less than what they are.

I doubt CdlF will leave the novela, it's been a long while since an actor did something like that in Televisa and it would reflect badly on him regardless of who initiated the conflict. If the couple doesn't work on screen though, there is a precedent of setting the main characters with others instead of with each other in past novelas when the main couple fails to attract the audience, they can always do that.

Jarocha

Just to clear it, it's been a while since a leading actor left a novela.

An actor from the supporting cast, however, can be fired if it ever comes to that.

Jarocha

Karyme must be a little hypocrite since I remember in Amar Sin Limites (-Shudders- I remember that one was not so good among us) she would be mackin' on Valentino Lasnus (or that was befor eand this is now so she isn't a hypocrite LOL)

Enrique- That was before she became very religious. I don't fault anyone with changing or evolving their religious beliefs. She made a decision at the time that acting in tns would conflict with her beliefs. But now she has come back to tns, and thinks that she can merge the two worlds. I wish her luck. But maybe she should be acting in kid/teen/afternoon shows, and not trying out for the lead in an adult romance-drama.

Looks like my DVR guide finally updated itself and I'm now seeing DQTQTQ on for 2 hours per night from 6 to 8 in my time zone.

Were PSMA's numbers worse than MPV's? Why not just put it at 7 and give DQTQTQ the hour long 8 slot?

I know some nights PSMA got better numbers are better than QPob (source: + Que Telenovelas)

Personal drama like this ruins shows,if you arent taking the role seriusly enough you are not going to succed in the acting buisness. You need somecontrol of your personal and your acting life. How can ungay/ unlesbian actors play gay/ people then?

And from where /how are ratings deducted from?

Carlos Moreno and everybody at televisa knew about Karyme Lozano's beliefs before she was hired for the part. When the novela was introduced to the press they talked about her conditions and all seemed well then. So I don't know if when the time came to shoot those scenes her attitude became problematic or if her earlier set of conditions weren't met.

Of course, it can jut be the case that her beliefs are the target of gossip and that the real problems on set come from something else since these reports come from before they had to play any sex scene.

Jarocha

FYI for anyone with hulu+: there's a sneak peek of DQTQTQ.

Also this is a Lucero Suarez production. She did Amorcito Corazón.

Karyme Lozano is not ready to do a love scene with CdlF, I volunteer , take me!

Jorge Aravena left La que no podia amar suddenly also.

Lol, Variopinta. If CdlF can't make her go rogue, no one can. She must be a true believer.
But I do wonder why they picked her and she accepted it. I'm disappointed that this long awaited TN is long, going to be shown in the afternoon, and probably won't have any sex scenes or chemistry between the leads.

She must be a new convert. Definitely in the wrong business. They call it ACTING. Maybe she's afraid to trust herself with CdlF.

I hope DQTQTQ is at least tolerable, I like the cast. I gave up on Camelia, la texana.
Thought I would take on La viuda negra, but I have missed a wk.

I found these ratings from Mex

http://tvnovelamex.blogspot.com/2013/07/rating-semanal-de-telenovela-dqtqtq-muy.html

@Sara, she also did Querida Enemiga. Now that was a Novelon!(good thing LOL) It felt like Luz Clarita.

I've seen some pictures of love scenes in QA. So, they exist, but I don't know how hot they are.
I did watch the first 2 episodes of the tn when it first started - not enough to decide about their chemistry, but enough to remember why CdlF is my avatar.
Cathy, if being a true believer means turning down CdlF kisses, than I never want to believe in anything ever again. :)
Maybe they could use a body double for the love scenes. Half of Caray Caray would send out made up acting resumes, me thinks.

Adriana, I wouldn't have to act if I were the body double. It would all come naturally for me. He is Mr. Yummy.

Dang Jorge Aravena is awesome,i remember his role in LQNPA ,too bad they had to kill him off ..

Just saw on the Unvision horarios that this will only be 1 hour and PSMA is staying at 8PM.

Univision will probably flip flop until Sunday night.

Sara:

I too checked my cable grid and this is what I saw for Monday:

TdA: 10:00AM to Noon

DQTQTQ: 7:00pm

Por Seimpre : 8:00pm

They could have changed their minds, who knows ; )

Yep, mine's back at 1 hour again.

I'm still interested in this one, so barring any further response, I'm going to go ahead and put up daily discussion pages/summaries as time permits and just see where this goes. Does anyone want to claim a day? Don't be shy, now!

Can I ask for a translation of the title of this show? I am guessing it's "I love what I love about you" but not so sure I have that right?

"De que X, X" is a response to a doubt. It's extra emphasis on whatever is being claimed. So, in the case of "De que te quiero, te quiero," the assumption is that someone has called the idea that the speaker does love them into question, and the response could be interpreted as something like "[Hey, you can doubt a lot of things about me but don't doubt] that I love you...I LOVE YOU!"

La Diva, I never would've figured that out on my own -- THANK YOU!

So have we decided to take a pass on this one?

Maybe it could be bullet-pointed?

I've seen the opening episode and I'm not sure I will stick with it. Juan Diego Covarrubias is not a bad actor, but without a serious workout routine and a little plastic surgery he won't become a full-time leading man.

5 Ft.: I am taking a pass on this one and a much needed overall respite. Thanks for offering to do a discussion page. Nobody else is eager to take this one on, so if you run out of steam, I won't be one to criticize, amiga. ; ? )

UA,It's true that Juan Diego Covarrubias could use a gym membership! LOL. I'm mainly in this for Cynthia Klitbo, Marcelo Cordoba and the producer.

The official plan is: I'm still willing to recap/summarize/host discussions for this one, so I will post whatever strikes my fancy--whether that be a full recap, a summary, bullet points, or just a "here's the place to discuss..."--with our usual deadline of having the post up before the next episode airs. I'll gauge interest with a combination of comments and page views and proceed accordingly. My hope is that as we get further into this, more people will be interested in joining the recap team or doing one-recap-stands or what have you.

I don't know how we go about changing the sidebar or choosing a tag (quiero?) so if anyone has feedback on that, please let me know.

Sara, are you interested in taking a day/days on this one? How about anyone else?

After I'm done with PSMA (I assume late May or early June) I can commit to Friday for the entire run.

If it's any other day, I can't commit until June and even then, I would have to stop again Aug 11 (when the next school year starts.) I'm more than willing to take a day June-early Aug.

I'm glad you are willing to post "whatever strikes your fancy" because I am hoping this one gets a little more interest. It looks like it will have a high episode count, but I can't resist the cast.

Did anyone watch the "sneak peek" offered by Uni? It seem edited to me. I hope Uni does't start chopping at this one if it doesn't get high ratings.

The newspaper shows DQ etc for 2 hrs, but my online TV guide shows 1 hr, who knows?

I saw it at 1...then 2...then 1.... I set my DVR to get an extra hour after the 1 that's currently scheduled, just in case. Who knows what they'll do!
