Lo Que la Vida Me Robó Lunes 4/28/14 # 119

Chapter 119: Bitter Memories

Ligera Tentación: José Luis walked into the nightclub bakery just at closing time, staring at his one-time love after almost seven years of staring at stone walls. She was exactly as he remembered her, light blonde with eyes like sapphires and a figure that could stop traffic.

I'd like some coffee, please, and cake... can you tell me what's the specialty of the house?”

Monserrat looked up in surprise. She had not expected to see him. “You look different.”

Yes. It's been a long time. You are still beautiful, Monserrat.”

She was obviously uncomfortable as she asked “What do you want, José Luis?” She then looked down at the books she was looking to close out for the day.

As I said, some coffee and a piece of cake. What do you recommend?”

Please leave.”

Why do you want me to go, Monserrat? Your place doesn't have specials?”

You know that's not it. I will never forget all the pain you caused Alejandro and me.”

You're not like that, Monserrat. Don't tell me you're still holding a grudge.”

Something beeped and she looked relieved at the distraction, but José Luis wouldn't give up.

Didn't it occur to you you could have been wrong?”

As you can see, I was just getting ready to close when you got here.”
And didn't you know that my first impulse when I got out of the slammer was to see you?”

Why?”

To see you. To look into your eyes and refresh my memory. You know what? It's been 2,544 days since I last saw you.”

You kept count?”

There aren't many things to do in the Big House. Keeping track of the days, hours, minutes. Aren't you going to offer me something?”

No, really, I have to close.”

No problem. I'll be back another day for some... coffee. It was a pleasure to see you. See you later, Monserrat.”

He headed for the door, but stopped as she called out his name. He turned around.

I want to talk to you. I have questions. There are things that need to be cleared up.”

Yes. We do have a lot to talk about, as you wish. You can always count on me, Monserrat. And you know where to find me. Good night.”

He walked out, leaving her in a pensive state as he met Esmeralda outside. Esmeralda was always there for him when he needed her.

What happened? Tell me. You weren't even in there ten minutes and you need much more. You and she have so much to talk about. It's the first time you've seen each other after all these years.”

Well, she asked me to leave and I couldn't figure out how to get her to let me stay.”

I don't understand. Didn't you say you wanted to get her back again?”

Yes, but I can't rush into things. I'm not going to make the same mistake again. But don't worry; she'll be mine again. It's just that I have to be careful. You walk down the same road, you don't trip twice over the same rock.”

La Escondida: Adolfo sat in front of Zulema's desk. He had just asked about Maria Zamudio, whom he hadn't seen in nearly seven years. He wasn't prepared for bad news.

She's gone. A couple of years now. You know what? For a while she was the best dancer here at La Escondida.” Zulema sounded almost wistful as she continued, seeing it in her mind. “All those nights she made herself sexy before going out on stage, hoping to see Alejandro Almonte. She was convinced that one day she would see him at one of the tables, looking for her. She danced better and better, but didn't want to accept that Alejandro was dead. She was hiding from the police, and every night she was sadder and sadder, crying for a man who never appeared. Little by little she finally accepted that he was dead and was never coming back to look for her. Then one day she just left without saying anything to any of us. She simply disappeared and none of us have seen her since.”

Did she take all her things? She leave anything behind?”

Some stuff. The boxes are in the storage room.”

Can I have them? To keep until she comes back.”

Zulema shrugged. “As a matter of fact, I was about to dump them in the trash. Come on; we'll get them.”

Thanks.” He got up to leave.

Look, if you do find her, tell her I hope she's alright. Esmeralda told me her life was in danger and I've been worried that something bad happened to her.”

Adolfo took her hand and gave her his most charming smile. “I promise.”

As she led the way out of the office he gave her a playful slap on her caboose as he looked back at the desk, in case there was anything important there.

Solares Apartment: Lieutenant Dimitrio Mendoza, dressed in decent civvies for a change, opened the door to his current main squeeze. She was an attractive young thing with long brown hair to her waist. He introduced her to Refugio and to their boss, Monica, who was also in civvies. Civvies that displayed assets her uniform was designed to hide. Except that the young lady was introduced with her sister's name, which she took serious exception to. Serious enough to slap Dimitrio and immediately leave. He had apparently also fooled around with her sister. Monica stood up in shock and Refugio tried to suppress his laughter. He teased his friend about spending every night with a different dame. Dimitrio tried to dismiss his concern, claiming he was doing alright and everything was perfectly normal. Captain Monica didn't see it that way.

You know what, Dimitrio? I am waiting for the day when you finally take a woman seriously.”

Oh, I take all women seriously,” he said, with an impish grin.

Don't tell me there was any woman who was ever important in your life.”

No woman was ever more important to me than any other,” he said a little too easily.

What about Josefina?” asked Refugio.

That's another story,” Dimitrio said as he left the room. He clearly didn't want to talk about it. However, Monica did, only to have Refugio tell her that Josefina had been Dimitrio's wife and had broken his heart. Later, as she shared shots of some excellent tequila with Dimitrio, it looked as though she had a motive for wanting to know more.

While Captain Monica was assessing Lieutenant Dimitrio in a distinctly non-regulation manner Fabiola Guillen arrived and pushed her way in past Refugio. She knew that José Luis had gotten out of the
joint and was anxious to see him. Refugio knew why and didn't hesitate to tell her that the first person José Luis wanted to see was Monserrat Mendoza. She turned away as if she needed to think of an answer to his veiled rebuke, but her thoughts were interrupted by Dimitrio, who definitely had her number.

I understand how you feel, Dimitrio, but what happened wasn't my fault.”

Fault? It wasn't your fault? What are you doing here? Why don't you go somewhere else with the money you took from Alejandro?”

He took the inheritance I was getting from my Uncle Benjamín. That was clearly decided in court. I was only claiming what was mine by right.”

Fabiola, José Luis knows very well what happened. He has many enemies in Aguazul.”

I was the victim here. Don't say such things to me, Dimitrio.”

I was there. What do you think you're talking about?”

He was thinking about the morning that Fabiola Guillen, the alleged cousin of his sister's husband, entered the beach house with the official document that gave her legal right to claim the property. She had arrived early in the morning with police and movers and she had viciously ordered everyone to leave. Monserrat, who was greatly distressed in the aftermath of the loss of her husband, had pleaded with her to have a few days to pack and to find a place to move to. Fabiola, though, was queening her rights above her and showing no mercy.

Have you forgotten how you tried to throw me out of here a few days ago? You are being thrown out of my house!”

One of the men had an armful of clothing just pulled out of a closet, and was heading toward the door when Monserrat seized it from him, collapsing on the floor. It was her husband's clothes. Fabiola had mocked her anguish.

I'm so sorry Alejandro is dead, but that's not my fault. That man had deceived everyone. He was an imposter.”

Shut up!” Monserrat shouted at her. Dimitrio helped her to her feet.

Get out of my house!” shouted Fabiola at them.

Let us get dressed,” said the long-suffering Rosario, who was holding her infant grandson.

No! Get out of here!” She had clapped her hands as though she were a schoolmistress in Oliver Twist's orphanage. “And don't leave any of your garbage here.” She heaved the baby's portable bed at their feet. Dimitrio had picked it up and exited behind his sister, looking back briefly at this woman who had stolen everything that rightfully belonged to Monserrat. Just as he was out the door he saw her sit on the white sofa and face the liquor cart, her main source of pleasure.

I don't expect you to understand, but I was very annoyed that day, Dimitrio.” she said to him in the present. “To find out that my uncle was poisoned by Alejandro just so he could steal his money by falsifying his will to take my inheritance – “

And you came here to greet José Luis hoping to feel better about yourself? Well, help yourself,” he said. And she did, pouring herself a glass of red wine, which she drank as quickly as anyone else might drink water.

Argüelles Residence: Adolfo placed the boxes on his coffee table and opened them. They didn't contain much and none of it was of any interest to him. A blonde wig, a wig form, a few items of slutty clothing, a hairbrush. He got more angry with each new item, finally throwing everything on the floor. “Where the hell is that will? Where the devil is she? Where is she?” He had apparently come a long way for nothing.

Solares Apartment: José Luis and Esmeralda arrived and Refugio hugged his former comrade in arms. Dimitrio also embraced him, something a few years ago he wouldn't have dreamed of. José Luis was so happy at that moment even the presence of the unwelcome Fabiola and her tacky comments didn't bother him. He greeted Captain Monica graciously and as he embraced Dimitrio José Luis mentioned what a headache he had been to him once before thanking him for taking care of his sister. Dimitrio tried waving this off just as their commanding officer arrived in uniform. Admiral Robleto was pleased to see José Luis, who said that after all that time they all looked younger to him. Certainly they had to have looked younger than he felt.

Monserrat's House: She entered her son's bedroom to check on him. He had fallen asleep with his glasses on. She pulled up the blanket, made the sign of the cross over him, and kissed him before removing the glasses and putting the stuffed animal in place.

Álvarez Apartment: The door opened into the dark room. It was slightly after 2AM. José Luis entered the room and turned on the light. Dust cloths covered every item of furniture. He looked around as he remembered Angélica, his wife who was now what her name had called her. They had just moved in and she spoke of her happiness and how she never wanted it to end. He pulled back one of the cloths and found two picture frames. He brushed back some of the dust that had collected on the glass and looked at their wedding photos. Angélica had been a blonde goddess in her strapless bridal gown and he had cut a fine figure in his dress uniform. The photos could have been taken for a bridal magazine or a society page, but now all they were were burning embers in his heart.

Monserrat's House: At the same time Monserrat stood on her porch, looking at a framed photo of her husband, Alejandro, wishing he were there embracing her. She cried as she asked why he had sent José Luis to her and why he hadn't come himself, why he hadn't waited for her. Somehow she thought back to Angélica's deathbed, when the dying woman explained that José Luis had helped rather than hurt. He had helped get her husband out of prison when he had been arrested on the trumped-up charge of drug trafficking. The charge they had suspected Pedro Medina had cooked up. Alejandro had confirmed her words, saying that José Luis was a good man. José Luis had cried.

Law Office: As Mayor Ezekiel Basurto watched across the conference table a lawyer directed his wife and her sister-in-law to sign the documents that put the Mendoza mansion into Carlota's hands. She was so excited that when she embraced her husband she picked him off his feet, saying she had at last recovered her family home. He told her he lived to make her happy, then he handed a check to Gracie. A check in the amount she had agreed to accept for the mansion. She looked at them with a nasty satisfaction.

I'm reminding you about our agreement. That I can live in the mansion for as long as it suits me. I win.” She smiled back at Carlota and Ezekiel, thinking about how stupid she thought Carlota was.

Peralta House: Macario and Dominga were having breakfast, but his mind wasn't on the delicious huevos rancheros prepared by his loving wife. He was concerned about their boss, Monserrat, and how José Luis' return from the can had affected her. He thought back to that day when they had all tried to help her and her family escape only to have it all go to hell when Alejandro had boarded the plane with his friend Victor and Nadia, the woman Victor loved. Dominga spoke of how it hurt to think of that. Macario Peralta was a simple, forthright man who didn't understand why the world was so unfair. He and his wife had been trying to have children and had been robbed twice of that chance. He was sure, though, that this could still happen. He was not so sure about how things had gone down between Alejandro Almonte, José Luis Alvarez, and Monserrat Mendoza. He could not understand how they had gone from absolute trust to suspicion and back again. Dominga chided him about how odd it was that he had never told her about this because of his tendency to gossip and his inability to keep secrets. True to form he told her to ask Amelia Arechiga about this. Which only made Dominga more curious. He realized then he had said too much so he clammed up and pointedly began eating his breakfast. Surely this man had a daughter named Pandora somewhere.

Medina Mansion, Garden: Amelia Beltran de Medina was having her breakfast al fresco when Fabiola arrived. Although she wasn't entirely happy to see her, she graciously asked whether she would like some coffee.

No, thanks; I'm not hungry. Don't worry. I want to ask a question, Amelia, and I expect you to tell me the truth.”

I'm listening.”

Do you know who my real parents were?”

Amelia was caught slightly off guard.

Monserrat's House: While Fabiola was looking to open a door best left shut Monserrat ate with her Aunt Carlota, who had just taken possession of the Mendoza mansion. They spoke of Amelia's marriage to Governor Medina and how she had chosen a man at least as bad as her first husband had been. Both were certain that the lady hadn't been aware of her first husband's secret life of crime. Carlota was imagining her reaction when Governor Medina's crimes would be discovered and he would end up in the clink. Monserrat wasn't so hopeful that he would be found out, as he had been so clever until that point. Carlota told her she wanted to see him burn for all the pain he had caused Alejandro and his family. Monserrat could only wonder why Pedro Medina hated her husband as much as he did. Carlota was disappointed in their former friend for believing everything her husband was saying about Alejandro Almonte. Monserrat sadly talked about how the entire town thought he was a murderer, a thief, and an imposter. Pedro Medina had gotten what he wanted in that. Carlota apologised for bringing this up, but she had no one else to whom she could talk about her contempt for the governor. In her usual cheerful manner she changed the subject and told her niece about having purchased the family home.

Mendoza Mansion: Gracie went into the foyer to see a man standing near the door with his back to her. She was surprised when José Luis turned around to face her.

You?”

How are you, Gracie?”

Well, and you? All those years in prison look good on you, José Luis. You're very handsome.”

To his credit, he did not miss the latent malice in her tone. “Thanks for the compliment,” he said, wishing she would choke on the cheap necklace she wore. He remembered that she once had more jewelry than any woman he ever knew.

When did you get out of prison?”

I got free yesterday.”

And you're here in my house looking for my little princess. She doesn't live with me.”

No; I'm not here looking for Monserrat. I came to talk to you.”

She grinned like some female villain out of a Disney cartoon. “Don't tell me you're here to talk about the offer I made you years ago after the death of your beautiful wife. Is your soul for sale, José Luis? Are you prepared to pay the price to regain the love of the little princess?” She laughed in her usual condescending way.

He regarded her with the detachment he should have had eight years earlier. He was thinking how here she had just made herself a reservation for the royal suite in a very hot place.

Monserrat's House: Breakfast had ended and Monserrat and Carlota were talking about José Luis. Carlota was sure he had not stopped loving her niece and asked what she felt for him.

Nothing,” was her answer.

Nothing? Do you want to keep resenting him?”

What do you want me to say, Aunt? I spent a lot of years angry with him.”

She reminded her niece that thanks to José Luis she and her son were alive. Monserrat answered that Alejandro had sent him to protect her and help her and her son escape. He had trusted him. She was now afraid that she had been unfair and had misjudged José Luis. It had been easy to hate him all this time. Alejandro hadn't told her everything. She was now in doubt as to the reason José Luis had done six years' hard time. She needed to know the truth for her own peace of mind. Carlota repeated that José Luis still loved her, but Monserrat didn't want to hear that. She had not stopped loving her husband. Carlota tried to tell her that she needed to go on with her life.

Hospital Room in Buenos Aires: Alejandro Almonte was lying in a hospital bed, attached to a monitor that gave off a steady beep indicating that he was still alive. While there was no evidence of immediate injury he looked unchanged from the blonde Adonis he had been on the day of the plane crash. The monitor displayed the waves indicating that his brain worked at least a little more than enough to take care of some autonomic functions and that his blood pressure was steady. There was an oxygen mask, though, to make sure.

Monserrat's House: Carlota's comments had not been welcome.

To you and the whole world Alejandro is dead,” said Monserrat. “But the love I feel for him is more alive than ever.” She began to cry.

Nobody is saying you should forget him or even stop loving him,” said Carlota.

I can never do that. I can never rip him out of my heart.”

Of course you won't stop loving him. He is the father of your child. But I only want you to be happy and go on with your life.”

My life is made, Aunt. My life is my son. I don't need anything else.”

No, honey. You're young and beautiful. You need a companion. You can't go on alone. You don't know what I'd give to see you in love again. Take off those wedding rings and put the past behind you. You need to begin living again.”

No. I can't let José Luis back in my life.”

But Alejandro is dead and – “

Monserrat had reached the breaking point. She banged the table and stood up.”

Enough! Will you stop sounding like a broken record?”

I don't want you to end up like I almost did. I want you to be happy.”

With José Luis?”

Why not? He still loves you. You used to love him so much once; you can't deny that.”

How ironic to hear you talk in his favor now when you once tried to keep him away from me.”

The circumstances were different, honey. At least think of this as a new opportunity. Talk to him and clear up everything that's bothering you. Alejandro had to have had powerful reasons to trust José Luis. He put your life and your son's life in his hands. You have to know what was behind that. You have to know the truth. At best you'll get peace of mind from that.”

Mendoza Mansion: As Gracie led José Luis inside he could see that the place hadn't been dusted in years. A knick knack was laying on its side on a piece of furniture, demonstrating that Gracie was too lazy to stand it up. He had been a spit-and-polish naval officer and felt she should have been ashamed to let him see this. Even his cell had been cleaner.

Ever since Alejandro died you don't know how I waited for this day, José Luis. So you're finally out of prison and we can do business.” She sat down on a couch without inviting him to do the same.

Yes, but this isn't going to be the way you imagined it, Gracie.”

You don't still love my little princess?”

Yes, I still do, of course.”

And so? I can deliver her to you on a platter. You know what? When I did so with Alejandro he was prepared to pay big for her love. ”

I can imagine. You must have set a high price.”

Ah, you're very smart. You want your happiness after all this time. I can make all your dreams come true, give you back everything life stole from you.”

He laughed at her presumption. “I see. Give me back everything stolen from me. The happiness of two people?”

He knew whom he was dealing with. This woman should have had a very profitable career in the oldest profession.

I don't need your help to get Monserrat to love me again.”

In that you are completely mistaken,” she said.

Very well. Let's stop talking nonsense and talk business.” He leaned over, closer into her space. “But openly. I'm not here to buy Monserrat.”

So, then why did you come here?”

Why? Tell me, Gracie, what will it cost me to be free of your interference? To keep you out of my life?”

She sighed. “A monthly allowance for life. One high enough so I can live like a queen.”

Medina Mansion, Garden: Fabiola had opened another bottle of wine in order to cope with the fact that Amelia wasn't willing to talk.

You're wasting your time. You're not going to get the answers you're looking for, Fabiola.”

I know you know more than you're telling me, Amelia.”

Yes, you're right.”

Of course I'm right.”

I know many things about your origin, but I'm not telling you any of them.”

Why not?”

Because a long time ago I made a promise to keep quiet about it. I can't go back on it.”

Therefore you know who my real parents are.”

Yes.”

So who are they? Where are they? Are they alive?”

It's better you don't know, Fabiola. It's for your own good.”

Amelia, you have to tell me.”

I don't have to tell you anything. You can keep asking but I won't tell you. You are wasting your time.” By this point she was desperate to finish this visit.

With or without your help I'm going to find out.”

You won't find out anything. The only other people who knew aren't around. They're dead.”

Who are you talking about?”

Your uncle Benjamin and Padre Anselmo.”

Padre Anselmo? What did he have to do with me?”

He knew the woman who gave birth to you.” To her surprise, Fabiola laughed. “Why are you laughing?”

To me it was great news that he disappeared. He stood in the way of my recovering my inheritance and the result is that that priest knew my real mother.”

The ironies of life, I suppose,” said Amelia with a practiced expression of a serenity she didn't feel.

Is there anyone else other than you who knows where I came from?”

Nobody.” said Amelia, picking up her coffee cup in a way showing she would say no more. Fabiola finished her half full glass of wine.

Mendoza Mansion: José Luis wasn't about to jump into the rushing river without a life raft.

So Alejandro paid what you demanded?”

No. He just paid our debts and afterward turned his back on us.” She grinned at him. “I hope you don't make the same mistake. I have to secure my future.”

Your old age.”

My future.

Very well. Your old age is your future. Let's negotiate. But there are two conditions.”

What are they?”

The first is that Monserrat doesn't find out about this little arrangement.”

Gracie was amused. “That's the same thing Alejandro demanded. And I suppose the same result that if she finds out the deal is off.”

You got it. Just keep quiet and we'll both be happy.”

And the other?”

The other is you have to be Switzerland. That means neutrality. I don't need your help or your judgment.”

But, José Luis, my help is included in the price you're paying. It will suit you to have me help my daughter set a wedding date?”

You don't get it. I'm telling you I don't need or want your help.”

Alejandro thought so, too. Except that in 24 hours I could have my girl running into your arms.”

José Luis laughed, but wasn't amused. “I don't believe this. You really think you can pull all the strings and manipulate your daughter.”

Gracie laughed back. “I didn't think you were that dumb. Remember that I'm her mother. There is nothing I can't do.”

Whether that was true or not, José Luis knew she believed it.

Urban, what a beautiful recap, and wickedly clever.
Most memorable lines: "She was exactly as he remembered her, light blonde with eyes like sapphires and a figure that could stop traffic."
"Monica, who was also in civvies. Civvies that displayed assets her uniform was designed to hide."
And for Fab, in keeping with her level of class, "...She knew that José Luis had gotten out of the
joint..."
My favorite, about Gracie, "She grinned like some female villain out of a Disney cartoon. " So, so true.
I can't believe how fast you got this up!
Well, Ale is alive. Surprise! I hope the writers don't expect us to believe he has been in a coma for 6 years and still looks so perfect,. Fasten your beanies, Patio!

What a beautiful recap!

I knew from an interview with Rulli that he had filmed in Argentina, so I was waiting for this, but wasn't sure when it would happen. Thank goodness it came today, because this story needs to move along.

Finita keeps getting mentioned, so she can't be far behind. I want her back more than anyone else. I want to see her with Dimi again!

I have to admit JL was pretty great tonight. He was funny and charming with Montse and insulted Gracie! And his scenes with Esme continue to be great.
But I'm really not looking forward to Montse getting back with him and of course Ale coming back, having learned absolutely nothing, and being angry with her. What's worse is that Ale just isn't as understanding as JL. He's not going to take a possible marriage between his wife and JL the way JL did in the reversed situation.

Thank you, Urban for the detailed and excellent recap.

EMarie, I totally agree it is beanie time re. Ale's physical condition.

It was comical that they placed Jose Luis right next to the name of Montse's pastry shop: "Ligera tentacion" (light temptation). I think he will prove to be more than just a "light temptation" in Montse's life.

So Maria left town after it became clear that Ale probably was dead. I hope she is gone for good but I think she will be darkening the skies of Aguazul again. I could see her becoming Fabiola's. BFF. Talking about Fabiola, she will grab a bottle in any household and serve herself ASAP. What a lush and general PITA! When Ale regains his name and property--- as he must-- I hope he runs her off as rudely as she evicted Montse. That was a good flashback of Montse's last minutes at Ale's house.

Jose Luis's idea of paying Graciela to butt out was ingenious.

I am glad that Carlota now owns the family house. She will now have a place if Ezequiel ends up in the big house somewhere down the line.

Waiting for the news from Buenos Aires!

Jarifa

Urban, you've given us another fantastic recap. This had the right touch of world-weary attitude. (I suspect we're all getting a little weary at this point.)

Amelia looked the same, but Gracie looked a little ...oh, maybe drab?

And we see that Alejandro is alive, at least. How much alive and to what purpose we'll have to discover soon.

So Maria just disappeared? Hmmm, she's bound to pop up again.

I really enjoyed the Mike Hammer link with the "Harlem Nocturne" recording. Always one of my favorite sax tunes, very evocative.

Thanks, guys. These take some extra time because of the dialogue, but the hard-boiled tone requires that. You can get away with minimal dialogue in a Victorian voice, but not a modern one.

Someone made a point yesterday about Monserrat no longer being under her mother's thumb. That doesn't stop Gracie, though. She will always try to retie the apron strings on both her children. They aren't real people to her; she's still a sadistic little girl playing with her dolls in a destructive way.

What is bothering me more at the moment is Carlota's insecurity and how she is communicating "A woman is nothing without a man" to Monserrat, who can't blow that off with the same impunity as she can her mother's puppet strings.

Honestly, if I were the head writer I would end this series with Alejandro getting his family and estate back, selling all his property and businesses, and taking his family far away to start over again.

I included "Harlem Nocturne" because I love the music of film noir. That song is a classic.

Terrific recap of a terrific episode. Thanks, Urban.

We all KNEW Alejandro was alive. Even so, it's a relief to KNOW that he's alive. Seven years is long enough for the Prince to remain under a spell. Now it's time for him to wake up.

Graciela reduced to straight hair and distressed denim? She looks almost human.

I'm so glad you included the funniest bit -- when Carlota exuberantly lifts her diminutive, homicidal husband off his feet.

NovelaMaven-"I'm so glad you included the funniest bit -- when Carlota exuberantly lifts her diminutive, homicidal husband off his feet." Thank you, made my day!
My DVR box again pooped out on me in the middle last night and had to be rebooted, so I missed 5-6 minutes, but it sounds like from your details, Urban that it may have been during commercials.

This was a luscious recap Urban. Love all the dialog again to go through again and your descriptions were spot on.

But have to say I wanted to just slap most everyone silly last night with Montserrat. So the guy gets out of jail, and she's supposed to start picking out the dress and making the wedding plans. Carlotta's pushing was just sad and nothing burns me up more than when a woman, and a successful one at that, is told she is still nothing without a man. Monse already has not allowed herself to become Carlotta...a woman who had been so immersed into her family she had no idea how to exist without just caring for someone. Monse went out and became a provider and business woman.
And Esme's wondering if JL had told her he wants her back? Day One. I'll stop ranting now.

And to think we actually thought Fabs might be redeemable at a future point. May she drown in a vat of the cheapest red.

I had known Rulli was in Argentina filming, so did know he survived just didn't want to spoil. But have to love and yes, park that beanie, to see the man after 6-7 years in a coma with his studly muscles and nary a pound lost.

So help me Maria surfaces in Argentina and I'll need to have someone remove the breakables in the house. And why did Adolfo wait 7 years to see Maria...c'mon. Plot contrivance.

Ah Dim, back to some of his old ways with the womanizing to try and forget his broken heart. Someone needs a hug and it better not be that floozy Captain. Do NOT like her...what and who is she really?

JL is making a big mistake. Should have just ignored Graceless. No amount of money will ever be enough to have her stick her nose out of her daughter's business if she thinks there's a benefit for her. She was beyond despicable last night. And so help me, can someone PLEASE pick up that statue and stand it on end. Driving me crazy!

Note to EJ--saw you late on the blog last night. Hope all is going well. Thinking of you.

Daisynjay

Yes, Daisynjay, buying Gracie's ? let's call it, non involvement is two things: A) impossible; B) same as buying Monse, at least she'll see it that way. Same old TN stuff-just as she's happy with JL, that's when they'll let Ale reappear.
Maria has to reappear with the original will in her hand.

Wow, Urban Anthropologist! What a terrific and entertaining recap! The care and attention to detail you have taken is apparent in every line, and I can imagine it must have taken you some time. Many, many thanks for this stupendous effort and wonderful recap!

The episode was interesting, and I was happy to see José-Luis feeling happy and confident. I am excited about his decision to pursue Montse.

My biggest laugh came from the extended Toyota Tundra product placement scene. It was pretty shameless, but I admired the audacity.

Who knew the Tundra not only had horsepower enough to pull a personal yacht, but also had the emotional power to trigger such enduring memories for Montserrat? And it also seemed to play a such significant part in Montse and Ale's love for each other and their family life with little Laurito in general.

How could I have missed this before?

Many thanks again, Urban Anthropologist.

Yes Ale is alive and kicking( well kicking not yet,he is a Sleeping Prince for now!) ,Loca Maria dissapeared,Jose Luis handled Mama Sauron( Gracie) well, for now!. I wouldnt expect less from our Faboulus Mierda(Fabiola),she is a vibora who loves nothing but herself.

I laughed hard at the Dimitrio scene with that woman,it shows that he is still a Dimwit with women like he was in his prime times, atleast Monica is there! I hope that Monica does not turn into a Femme Fatale after Josefina would inevitably return

Also for those who watched Amor Real how evil was Ramon( Pedro) in that novela, was he the same Satan as Pedro is?

Carlota beat Tita Syndrome, but I hope that Gracie's anvil will be almost there so she won't have time to gloat over Carlota's discovery about Ezekiel when that happens (as it will have to).

Monserrat is not even 30 at this point, much too young for anyone to worry about whether she will be alone for the rest of her life. Which would still not be the end of the world if it's her choice. She has family (excluding Gracie), the ability to make friends, and a child to raise. I am strongly of the opinion that children should have two parents when possible but they should be the right two parents.

Gracie loves interfering in her children's lives to the extent that I am actually wondering whether she enjoys the process even more than the end result she is looking for. That's how control freaks are. The delight in the continued anxiety of others.

Enthralling UA. Your screen shots, diaglog, conversation translations were sublime. Sheer excellence.

In addition to the lines already quoted I loved "She had clapped her hands as though she were a schoolmistress in Oliver Twist's orphanage", "Surely this man had a daughter named Pandora somewhere" and "To his credit, he did not miss the latent malice in her tone".

While I wish JL had not spoken with Graciela, I reflected on this and came to the conclusion he likely did not have a choice. He knows the evil she is capable of and likely did not want her to ruin this second chance. The fact that he has no chance is beside the point.

Dimitrio is a mischevious imp. He is back to his old ways I was slightly saddened to see. It is certainly time for Fina to return.

Not sure what Monica's interest is here but I suspect she has her own agenda.

Fab's banishing everyone from her house was cold. Very cold. Shared mother/daughter evil and imperious traits are emerging.

NovelaMaven, still chuckling at "Graciela reduced to straight hair and distressed denim? She looks almost human". Yes. Almost!

UA, thank you for this wonderful treat.

Diana

Oh my god yes, I forgot to mention how hard I laughed at the thinly veiled product placement. At least they tried!

Julia Rold, your comment about the "emotional power" of the Tundra was priceless. So funny!

Jarifa

Excellent recap, Urban!

I was on a call, so I watched this on mute. Why did it look like both Gracie and JL were escapees from the 80s? I'm glad that JL stayed true to himself and did not purchase Gracie's "help" to "win" Monse. Of course, we know paying her to butt out will also backfire on him, but glad to know the writers haven't totally done a 180 with his character.

Julia R.- Even watching the sweet Tundra family memories on mute, I couldn't help cracking up. And it went on forever! LOL!

I don't think Dim has totally regressed. He's not a lazy, gambling, scam artist. And the women he's dating/bedding seem to know he's not serious about them, so I don't see the issue. He's single and he's a grown man. As long as he's not trying to swindle these women out of money, making false promises, plotting fake marriages, and they are all grown women (not naive teens like Virginia), then I don't have a problem with it.

Jarifa and Anonymous 09:28:

So glad you both had a good laugh at the Tundra product placement scene, too!

I wonder if by the time the show ends they will have succeeded in getting me to go out and buy one of the things.

Glad you enjoyed, too, Vivi!

I've been away and haven't been able to watch in several weeks. Just checked into the latest chapter and feel like I've been dropped into an alternate universe! It's all so bizarre -- Came straight to UA's recap, trying to get my sea legs. I obviously have a lot of catching up to do.

Has the show gone sci-fi? The only thing that felt familiar was the already mentioned car placement -- so I'm clinging to that Tundra until rescue arrives.

Oh gees, yes. The product montage. best moment of the night---anyone else want to admit that sat there absolutely rapt wondering WTH? and when it would be finished. Ad placement that got our attention? Mission accomplished.

And Vivi, I couldn't agree with you more about Dim! it's been 7 long years and not a peep from Fina. She had made goodbyes with an emphasis she was not most likely coming back. I'm sure after all this time, he has resolved himself to that, and it is a bit heartbreaking that despite the flippant attitude and speed dating, he hasn't gotten over her. I'm sure by now, his reputation precedes him, so these pretty lasses most likely know what he's all about. Otherwise, he's still doing a good job, staying loyal to his sister and friends and more importantly, staying away from the gambling and his mother.

Daisynjay

UA thanks for the recap. I know developing the dialogue within the hard boiled framework is challenging and you make it look effortless.

Daisynjay, I so enjoy your comments and ITA that everyone pushing Montse to marry again is so last century.

Julia R, your Tundra observation gave me my laugh of the am.

Diana, though we JL is paying off Gracie to stay out of his business, it seems the writers are being very lazy here. Not only do the optics look bad but making any deal w/Gracie is a Faustian bargain.

Vivi, ITA w/your assessment of Dim.

Urban - Marvelous film noir recap. A sheer pleasure.

Put me in the club thinking that check to Gracie for doing nothing is going to come back and bite JL on the butt. I am so dreading Monse crying Me compraste!!! again.

Carlota's advice to Monse didn't bug me. Monse definitely does not have to run out and get married again, ever. But she hasn't dated in seven years though some guys may have tried. And there was this guy she loved years ago who sacrificed himself for her well-being and happens to be rich and out of prison. Plus, Monse not only lost her husband but her best friend too. She needs to spend time with someone other than her son and mother-in-law.

So the plane went down in Mexico, but Ale winds up in a hospital in Argentina? I need to check my geography. My theory is that one of the nurses is wild about Ale and shaves him and massages his body everyday to keep the muscles toned.

ITA Carlota lifting EZ in joy was the highlight. Is it possible EZ's feelings for Carlota will become his Achilles' heel? I'm guessing he would hate for Carlota to find out what he really is, while Pedro wouldn't give a damn about Amalia finding out as long as she stayed in line.

I dont think EZ has any real feelings for Carlota,he is just using her.He is not maltreating her like Pedro with Nadia but he is waiting for the right moment, after he destroys Pedro and possibly become Guvernor he might toss her away.He is a chameleon.Everybody to a merit knows Pedro does dirty buisness but they all underastimate Ezequel. To be honest EZ is a puzzle to me,he is the biggest mystery of the entire Telenovela. It should be renamed "Basura,Quen Eres Tu?"

Thank you for the very creative recap, Urban. You're making me feel very envious.

As someone else already said, I don't think that JL giving Gracie money to butt out is a good move.
What he should do is ignore her completely and trust that Montse is old enough to handle herself and strong enough to make decisions regardless of what anyone says.
Anything other than that still feels like manipulation to me.
He played it rather cool with her in the bakery and then he made it clear to Esme that he won't act like a fool again. But this laid back, rather cold approach that he is taking makes me feel like he might be a little bit unhinged.

So Ale is alive... I hope Victor and Nadia are ok, too and the three of them make a triumphant return of some sort to Aguazul sooner rather than later.

"My theory is that one of the nurses is wild about Ale and shaves him and massages his body everyday to keep the muscles toned."

I'm in the wrong job field. We never have that kind of opportunity in Finance.

Maybe they let hospital colunteers help? Be happy to at least relieve that poor overworked woman with that patient. Just sayin'.

Daisynjay

Volunteers....really. Why would spell check do that? I had it right, it changed it to....not even a real word?

I need lunch.

Daisynjay

Thanks for the wonderful recap!!

I am disappointed that the JL and Montse roller coaster goes on. I was hoping he would fall for someone else. Capt. Monica was the obvious choice but since she has eyes for Dimi I guess the plot isn't going that direction. I fear JL will lose Montse for a 2nd time.

Fofito is so dangerous now but I wonder why after so many years he finally comes looking for that will. Can't be for a good purpose.

Amelia was wrong, Macario knows the truth about Fabs.

Oh how I wish JL didn't go to Graciela! It surely will come back to bite him royally and she deserves less than nothing.

daisynjay- we don't get those opportunities in Nursing, either.

One more thing, did anyone else catch in the advances that the nurse in Ale's room called him Alejandro? How could she know his name and yet 7 years later no one knows he is alive? Ahhh, the joy of TN's.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Carvivlie- I don't think Amelia was wrong- of course she knows Mac knows all. She lied, and she did it precisely because she doesn't want Fab to find out the truth. Even hinting that someone else knows would put Fab on the trail of anyone who worked on the hacienda long ago...leading to Mac...who we know has no game face and is hard pressed to keep his mouth shut.

Carvivlie, I was thinking the same thing about the nurse knowing his name.
Maybe Victor and Nadia made it, too and they are in charge of Ale's health?
Or maybe Ale had some ID on him when he was found?

Also, is anyone else surprised that Macario and his wife would try to have a baby?
Aren't they almost Graciela's age by now?
It just seems strange to me that they would get this storyline instead of a younger couple like Esme and Refugio.

Thanks, UA , for that fun and clever recap. I, too, like Harlem Nocturne. I love sexy sax music. My fav is Stranger on the Shore...tenor sax , I believe.

Demetrius ...In Amor Real, Ramon (police chief)was corrupt, but no where near as evil and crazy as Ped. He was abusive to his wife and cheated on her with the Fab character (Marie in Amor Real) and conspired to take the galan's land and inheritance.

I like Mony's new look. I would wear those longer skirts and colorful tops. Her new clothing style , softer, hairdo, and minimal makeup make her look younger and softer.

Ah..Sleeping Beauty has been found at last. I wonder if his traveling companions survived, too. Will Ale learn the tango now that he has turned up in Argentina ? Will be remember his tiny dancer back in Bluewater when he awakens from his long sleep ?

I must admit that JL looks good...except for that five o'clock shadow that he cannot get rid of. At least he looks showered and well dressed now that Esme has taken him on that shopping spree.

Demetrius...I agree with you that EZ is a mystery. He seems to.truly care about Calotta, and she seems so happy and looks beautiful. I got a kick out of her hugging him right off his feet.

That scene of Mony remembering happy times in the Tundra was so funny....blatant product placement. I had to giggle. However, I do have the same warm feelings for Hub's first car...a white Mustang. I suppose people do have strong memories of their first cars.

I think EZ is like a lot of people who are able to compartmentalize different aspects of his life. EZ has clearly divided his work from his home life. That being said, I can understand how he could be a wonderful husband and still the killer that he is. Carlota has been with him for years now and they both seem happy. Reminds me of tales of organized crime in the old days. I will feel sorry for her when she finds out the truth about him since she clearly sees Pedro's flaws and is not aware that her husband shares those same flaws.

Jarifa

Yeah, it's not that implausible that EZ could be a well behaved husband and still a criminal, even a killer. There are at least two serial killers in real life I can think of who's wives thought that were happily married to them, living in blissful ignorance.
Now Ale waking up and becoming anything like normal, believable? Not so much.

With Carlotta going on and on about how awful Pedro is, and she and Amelia fighting over each other's husbands' qualities, I'm going to enjoy when both find out the truth!

Vivi, you are right, Amelia was just lying. I hate these time jumps because why did it take her 7 years to ask the most obvious person?

Haven't read the recap or comments yet. Just watched the last 20 minutes of the ep. Saw that Ale was alive (looks pretty good for being in a coma for 7 years). Flaco wondered who was paying the med bill--I'm thinking Victor survived? But then why wouldn't they tell Mons?

Didn't like Tia pushing JL on Mons.

OT: havent' seen an ad for the new novela replacing Por Siempre. Maybe they're going back to three novelas a night (or three new ones, with a re-air at 10:00)?

Thanks Vivi for the Premios info.

Nanette

I'm hoping it's going to be two hours of DQTQTQ.

Thanks for this excellent recap, UA. Full of dialogue and vivid descriptions. Well done.

So Alejandro lives? 7 years in coma? If he wakes up and is able to walk out it will indeed be amazing.

I cracked up at the unwrapping of that beautiful Tundra. Now if it's been sitting like that all these years and is cranked up and driven away, it will be even more amazing than Alejandro walking out of the hospital.

Zeke and Carlota are so cute and happy together that it's a shame that he is so evil. How heartbreaking will it be when Carlota discovers what she has married?

Watching JL peeking through the window at Montse was no less creepy for me the second time around and label it what you will, it sure looks to me that his deal with Gracie is very similar to the one that she struck with Alejandro.

I use the close captions as well as try to listen closely and JL is not always the easiest to understand. You translated part of his discussion with Gracie this way:

"...I have to secure my future.”
“Your indulgences.”
“My future."
“Very well. Your luxury is your future."

The CCs had that part of the conversation this way (and this also the way I heardit although admittedly my hearing is not so good as it once was):

"...ahora sí voy a asegurar mi futura."
"Tu vejez."
(old age)
"Mi futura."
"Esta bién, esta bién, tu futuro es tu vejez."

Also Gracie looked clearly annoyed. I don't think that she is particularly sensitive about her love of luxury but getting old is quite another matter. I wouldn't have even brought this up except that this way it looks as though JL has a bit of a mean streak.

Carlos

He said vejez, which was a great dig. She was quite miffed.

Anon 1:28: I was wondering if they might do a 2-hour De Q, too. That's a lot for one evening for me, but I really like DQ, so I think I'd just have to make it work.:)

EZ is very unpredictable. So far i am oblivious about him.Either he truly fell for Carlota or he is just playing masquarade because as long he is married ,the stronger his image will be.Pedro failed to keep Nadia for even one year,EZ wont repeat his "mistakes". He wants to oblitirate Pedro and will do whatever he has to to accomplish that goal. I think EZs plan is to terminate Pedro at the right moment and blame Ale for the death and then he would bring Ale to juicio.. EZ would have the possibility to become governor then because the people would be happy that Pedro is now dead because they would know what a bad man he was.To ensure Ales secrecy,EZ would threaten him with the safety of his family.. Atleast that is how i imagine things will happen..

Or he is just a tragic conflicted hero.

Demetrios,

"I think EZs plan is to terminate Pedro at the right moment and blame Ale for the death and then he would bring Ale to juicio."

I doubt that is his current plan since as far as he's concerned, Alejandro is dead.

Carlos

Seven years --7!-- in intensive care. Who is paying the bill?

Well when Ale ineviatibly wakes up and will be alive and kicking he is going to have to face the charges if he wants to clear his name. That is the perfect time for EZ to start unleashing his deadly plan.

Carlos - I laughed when JL used vejez the second time with Graciela. I don't blame him for his mean streak with her. Unbelievable though that JL doesn't realize there's no way Graciela is going to just do nothing because of his check when in her mind she stands to gain so much more $$$.

Carlos- I don't see JL's deal with Gracie being the same as her deal with Ale. It's just as stupid, yes. But not the same moral issues of buying access to a person, I don't think.

Vivi: agree about the JL deal vs. Ale deal. However, Mons isn't going to like it.

No, she will not. And she'll probably assume he made the exact deal that Ale made.

I am catching up as best I can -- backwards at this point since I want to know the latest while I work my way through.

Have to laugh -- It's amazing to me how the folks working on this are able to draw the story out. It would have been perfect ended some weeks ago -- save for the matter of Dimi and Fina -- but good for them that they keep on going even when it begins to feel like The Twilight Zone.

Whatever else is going on with Carlota and EZ, she looks great and am happy to see that. And always happy to be able to leap through the screen and attempt to live in the beautiful vistas.

7 years in a hospital bed -- well, you know, just the same really as all other characters looking exactly the same except for costume and hair changes.

As for Monse and JL -- yawn. Would love to wear Monse's Betty Draper green knit sweater top and floral skirt with belt. Gorgeous.

And the Tundra remaining timeless and capable of transporting young children and casais apaixonados.

"And she did, pouring herself a glass of red wine, which she drank as quickly as anyone else might drink water."
If the actress who plays Faviola is not swilling down grape juice in these scenes, then either she can hold her wine or she'd drunk on the set.

In what country is this taking place? I assumed Bluewater is in Mexico, but Ale's Toyota Tundra has Texas license plates.

Great recap Urban!

Vivi in DC, you read my mind: "Why did it look like both Gracie and JL were escapees from the 80s?" When I saw Gracie in her denim vest it immediately transported me back to the days of Canaveral de Pasiones. Perhaps she had to sell off all her fancy dresses to pay the bills, just didn't make enough to hire a housekeeper!

Niecie in MD: "So the plane went down in Mexico, but Ale winds up in a hospital in Argentina? I need to check my geography" I was wondering about that too. What route was that plane heading? I was under the impression that it went down shortly after they took off. Carvivlie and Adriana Noel, hoping that at least, since the nurse did call him by name, Vic, Nadia and baby made it through, and are just too scared to notify anyone less Pedro catch up to them.

Like a lot of you, I laughed so much at the Tundra placement, and even more when Tia Carlotta picked up EZ so effortlessly.

I am also enjoying Mac and Dominga being together, and that they are still there for Ale's family. And although Mac looks a little older, I don't think Dominga is as old as Gracie. I think she had mentioned earlier in the series that she was very young when Ale was a little boy, so hopefully their desires for a baby can come true.

Hated the scene where Fab kicks Montse and family out of the beach house. How cruel! I do hope that Fab finds out soon who her parents are, maybe that will inspire her to change a bit and not end up all alone like Gracie.

Maricruz

Wow UA. I am getting the biggest kick out of your new, hard-bitten storytelling style. Just relishing every word.

And loved the clever juxtaposition of your heading Bitter Memories with the über-saccharine Sweet Shoppe setting. Some other funny lines, (especially for you Ms. Wharton!)

While Captain Monica was assessing Lieutenant Dimitrio in a distinctly non-regulation manner

and "out of the slammer", "spending every night with a different dame" and then this wistful description:

"The photos could have been taken for a bridal magazine or a society page, but now all they were were burning embers in his heart."

Nifty.

Also loved your speculation that my darling Mac has a daughter named Pandora somewhere.

Again, an excellent pastiche. Witty. Poignant at times. So well observed.

I thought José Luis' return to the old apartment was ghostly and sad. There is nothing more depressing than a long-empty house with dust covers everywhere, phantoms of a happy past.

Also glad some of you brought up the ENDLESS Toyota product placement. Not quite so ridiculous as when Tia encouraged Colunga, in Alborada, to use some Crema Conchanaca on his burns, but still!...

As for the grizzled Mac and Dominga trying to have kids, my great grandfather started his second family at age 65 and had 5 more girls and boys to add to his earlier brood of 8 grown sons. And my female ancestors all had babies up through 45 or 56. So that's life for country folks!.

Oh and thanks for the marvelous black and white photo also, UA. The blonde dame was quite fetching.

Ooops and in the above comment...that's 45 or 46. I don't know any relatives of the female persuasion who reproduced into their 50's although it has happened, according to Guiness.

Carlos, thanks. I will change that.

I don't think EZ was ever planning to blame Alejandro for anything. That would have ruined his sweet deal with his plan to marry Carlota. He was looking for an opportunity to bring Pedro down and any good information would do.

It does surprise me that he hasn't figured out that Pedro was the motorcyclist in the accident that Alejandro was blamed for.

Could it be that the plane crash is not the thing responsible for Alejandro's present condition? That something else happened in between? I guess tonight is Must-See TV.

I'm hoping that Vic and Nadia survivied, along with baby Victoria of course. However, if that's true, I don't get why they wouldn't somehow get the info to Mons. Seven years of her believing that she is a widow?

You nailed it Urban, converting a Spanish language telenovela into a 1040s noir detective story, especially when that shadow showed up midway through and I wondered if Pedro had lost no more time attempting to "disappear" Laurito. Thank goodness it was our hardened, but heart-of-gold ex-con, JL coming home.

I loved the references to Fabiola's liquor problem....

"Just as he was out the door he saw her sit on the white sofa and face the liquor cart, her main source of pleasure."

"Well, help yourself,” he said. And she did, pouring herself a glass of red wine, which she drank as quickly as anyone else might drink water."

"Fabiola had opened another bottle of wine in order to cope with the fact that Amelia wasn't willing to talk."

Urban, I remember someone figuring out Pedro's reason for hating Ale, I thought it was EZ during that sick confrontation with Pedro. Almost certain.

Oh, and seven years marriage for Carlota and EZ is lasting longer than a lot of modern marriages last.

Yes, it will be devastating for her to find out his true nature and feel that she's been betrayed, but she's had a fairly long run of naive happiness. I think he really does care for her and they seem compatible at least in the official side of their relationship that we get to see.

Who knows, she may forgive him as a trade off to keep her current social status--and to be able to look down on her "long in the tooth," denim and stringy-haired SIL.

I don't know whether EZ has connected those dots. He's seen the accident report, but it doesn't include Pedro's name and we don't know how much detail it has about the injuries. Unless Pedro told him the year this happened, we can't assume he knows.

We know almost everything about that accident. We know that it was actually Benjamin Almonte who was driving the pickup. We know that he made Alejandro take the responsibility by saying he was driving, and we also know that the forensic report said that he wasn't actually responsible because the motorcycle was going at maximum speed at the time. The crash was unavoidable.

At some point the name of the victim was redacted from the report; this was in the scene with Loreto early on. Benjamin's money probably did that somehow. What we don't know is anything the report says about the nature of the injuries.

Urban, he knows. This is from my recap of ep. 110:

EZ explains: Nadia and her lover were chatting -- he guesses they don't know they're performing for a camera -- and he heard her tell Victor about Pedro's unfortunate motorcycle accident. Then EZ remembered that Alejandro was the driver in a similar accident. And he got it! "The boy on the bike was you, licenciado!" That's why you hate Alejandro so much -- he crippled you as a man!"
(Alejandro es el culpable de que usted haya sido mutilado...como hombre.)

That's right, NovelaMaven, now I remember, thank you. So Pedro doesn't know that EZ knows, is that right?

De nada, Emarie. Yes, Pedro knows that EZ knows. We were all surprised that Pedro didn't kill EZ on the spot. (And here we are seven years later with EZ living off the fat of the land!)

Can Captain Monica make an honest man out of Dimwattage?

It's obvious that this man eater is about to come on to him like a ton of bricks.

Poor Fina!

Urban A,
Just finished your recap. It was awesome. I felt as though I was reading a detective novel, or watching a film noir. Fantastic work!

Sorry I am so late to comment, but I have so much going on at work, I barely have time to eat and sleep. Hopefully I can comment more later tonight. I haven't read any comments. I hope to read some during my dinner break. Thanks again Urban!

NovelaMaven,
Thanks for Friday's recap. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You had me laughing. Sorry I had no time to comment this past weekend. Gracias de nuevo!

Back to work...hasta pronto!

OK, so EZ does know. Which means that it makes no sense for him to have waited 6-7 years to do anything about it.

UA,

"Which means that it makes no sense for him to have waited 6-7 years to do anything about it."

Yes, it's almost as though everyone in Agua Azul has been dormant these last 7 years (at least María managed to escape) and now are suddenly waking up. I fully expect that tonight Alejandro will flutter his eyelashes, blink, open his eyes and utter, ¿Monserrat?

Next!

Carlos
